Hi Nancy!

Carb Cycling is adjusting Carbs up/down such as:

50/100/50/100/50/50/150

a zillion diff ways to do it; but that's one way!

great for fat loss; not for the faint of heart; takes discipline & exercise!

HTH!

Question of the Day response

Question of the Day ~
Does your job/work make stress you out? Why?

YES! YES!! YES!!! Senior Business Analyst. I do data analysis, data mining, problem solving, analysis and research. Lots of projects with very short deadlines.... multiple "number 1" priorities... problems to be solved "yesterday" when you are not even sure of what the problem is yet... constantly changing high pressure environment. I like my job. I like puzzles and that is basically what I do solve puzzles, but it can be stressful.

Do any of you over eat or eat poorly when you are stressed? When I'm hurting emotionally or physically, I seek comfort foods. My Dad died just before Christmas. When I ate all I wanted to eat was high carb comfort foods. When I'm stressed, it is chocolate that I crave.

Do any of you have the comfort food/chocolate problem when stressed or in pain (emotional or physical)? How do you avoid these food pitfalls?

Today, I'm hurting physically from my new exercise program and my bad knees and back and I really want some chocolate.

I eat LC chocolate or chocolate "cream cheese clouds" or Atkins Endulge bars

(LC chocolate = the darkest you can find w/ lowest carb count. Lindt 85% is popular and I get a good one from Trader Joe's...forget the name...starts with a G)

Question of the Day ~
This goes with yesterday's question ~ What is your healthy way of dealing with stress?

***
I'm weighing on Wednesday and hoping it's better than my Monday weigh in that was my "official" for the week! So...I'm posting Wednesdays here but you can't count them--which this week is probably a good thing

QOTD--Healthy way, huh? I guess curled up in a fetal position sucking my thumb with a blankey doesn't qualify...so I guess I'll have to say venting and exercise. Nothing better than a good verbal vomit to make you feel less stressed!

Hey to the Chefs out there!

I found this in the CTFLC Recipe Thread; I'm in the middle of making it, I've only started cooking meat in March (was a veggie for 15 years) so please bear with me! To Broil (as per below) that means it's OK to use the Broiler in the Oven? I don't want to use the outside grill and I don't know how to light the inside grill. So should I "Broil" this in the Oven for about 10 minutes on each side? Or do you think I should Bake it instead? THANKS!

GRILLED CAYENNE CHICKEN

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
4 chicken breast halves without skin

Preheat grill or broiler.
Combine mayonnaise, garlic powder, lime juice, salt, and cayenne in a shallow bowl; stir well.
Place chicken on grill rack. Coat well with sauce.
Grill chicken for about 5 minutes; turn.
Brush with remaining sauce.
Broil chicken until juices run clear when meat is pierced with a knife, about 10 minutes longer.

Looks yummy! BTW, which veggie were you? My preference is a nice green bean or a chayote! I'd rather look like a green bean but am afraid I resemble the latter more though!

Here's my keto recommendations:

TO LOSE WEIGHT:
To lose a pound a week safely decrease your daily intake to 1,761 calories.

You have decided to eat 25 grams of carbohydrate a day. To avoid loss of lean muscle mass you must eat 125 grams of high quality protein each day. This can be found in 20.8 ounces of meat, eggs, or hard cheese.

Round out your diet with 129 grams of fat.

I'm gonna give it a go when I get back from my cruise and see what kind of booty kicking weight loss it gives me!

Hey Alberta! It's fine to take both (I do).

Take your L-Carnitine in the AM with your warm lemon water to jumpstart your metab (remember Nicole @ Betsy's? I learned that from her!).

Take your L-Glutamine either 90 min prior or 90 min post of a Protein meal (or the Protein will interfere w/ the L-Glutamine ~ this is what lisabinil just told me )

How's the Crackin' goin' for you? Are you doing Deplete again or did you move on to Week 2 and looking forward to a Carb-up Day tomorrow??

Remember that CTFLC is relatively LowFat (as compared to LC) ~ it is sooooo hard to switch mindsets!

Oh, yes use the broil in the oven. Move your rack up to about 4 inches from the top and put the chicken on the broiler pan right under the heating element.

I think I eat too much protein right now. I've been debating cutting down for awhile, especially since I've been low carbing for nearly 2 years straight.

Thanks so much that is very interesting. Explains a lot I think!!! Mine says without exercise-1536cals with exercise 2129 What a difference. I think since I haven't been exercising much that is why I am maintaining. The key is to get off my DUFF!!!

Anyway today is work day and the foot still hurts some. Not as bad so I haven't been doing anything that requires too much walking. But I am ready to get into gear. Weigh-in today still 220, shirt still tight. Yuck!!!

No low fat for me. I am too miserable on low fat. I am not going to do egg whites only or low fat dressing, light mayo, etc... I have made peace with the fact I may not get "best results" but I know it will still work.

Hey all, I just found out that they are having a biggest loser here at the hospital. Not sure when or how it will work but it is supposed to be soon. The timing is the greatest.

Also they just made a new thing that we can go to the gym here in town for free. That is great I guess except I can't afford to drive all the way to Ellijay for the gym. I can go on monday mornings after I get off work only. Very frustrating. They won't help with a gym closer to my home. I guess one day is better than none.

I went to the gym before when I lost my weight and really enjoyed it. BBL!!!

Millions of them. And I DO NOT take them every day. Sheesh I wish I would. They lay here right in front of me, but I just don't do it every day. Some days they kinda make me gag you know?

I take:

Fish oil
calcium
vit e
vit c
vit b complex
vit b6

I think that's it. Hmm . . . feels like I'm forgetting something . . .

Morning Everyone! Happy Hump Day!

Congratulations Shelly!! Woot Woot!!! I'm so happy for you!!

Your Q of the Day is PERFECT timing for me as just last night I was thinking that I need to start taking my supplements again. Like Daisy, I have a ton that I want to take, but sometimes they do make me gag. So lately I've just been swallowing the 2 muy importante ones (Effexor/Celebrex) BUT yesterday I finally took an L-Carnitine and I want to re-add L-Glutamine + everything else back into my daily regime! So, I'm going to sit-down and think about what makes sense for me and I will post that later today. Thanks Shelly, for making me "think" about this, just when I really needed/wanted to!

Well, Wednesday Weigh-in was NOT kind to me; I'm back up the 2 lbs that I lost last week.
Oh well. Easy come; Easy go!
I'm not even going to try the swimsuit cause it would just sadden me
I don't need that right now.

Today is a NEW day and I'm going to Deplete for the next 5 Days EXACTLY by the book.
NO deviations; NO guess-work; NO "winging it" (as I am prone to do).

Back to supplements & exercise. Back to taking some of my own advice!

Today is Day 3 cig-free.
+ I have an appt w/ my new arthritis doc today at 2:30pm.

XO,
HB

Suggestion, if you take nothing else, take the Fish Oil. Balancing your EFA's is one of the BEST things that you can do for yourself (per Fawn). I'm going to add my Fish Oil to the "muy importante" list too!!

3/4 cup mayonnaise (INCREASED from 1/2 cup)
1 tsp garlic powder (INCREASED from 1/2 tsp)
1/4 cup lime juice (INCREASED from 2 Tbsp)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper (INCREASED from 1/2 tsp)
3/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese (ADDED)
large pkg (1.64 lbs) of organic, free-range, boneless, skinless chicken breast tenders (strips)

Preheat Oven Broiler.
Combine all Ingredients in Large Bowl
Add Chicken and mix well so that each strip is coated.
Place Chicken in Broil Pan approx 4 inches from Heat.
Broil Chicken for approx 10 min; turn over & Broil for approx 10 more min.

Super YUM!! DH loved it and asked for the "secret"!
I can cook great "dishes" and I can bake OK;
but I'm terrible at cooking meat (by myself) so this was HUGE!
YAY!
