Good morning women!

I just peeked at that meat/fat thread HB. I used to post with a woman on a forum that ate very similar. I don't remember if she actually ever posted her calories, but she was following the concept of eating like indigenous people to North America. Meat, fat. No dairy. No wheat. No starch pretty much. She claimed great success. I wish I could remember more.

Most everybody else thought she was a kook. She did have a group of believers.

I'm starting to see, for myself, how we can get very SINGLE-MINDED in this. As HB and others on this forum have stated, I can see how it's so important to not feel like we have to be spot-on with any of our woe. One slip isn't failure type of thing yes?

That kind of thinking is what makes me careen off my road and wind up in the body-shop for months at a time. I need to get this car immediately back on the road and not worry about minor fender-benders.

Talk about mixing analogies! It's early peeps!

I don't think I've thought so much in the past about what I'm doing.

Tell Pupcake HI !! And what the heck are zoodles? Zucchini noodles?

More on that later...for now:

I enjoyed 2 glasses of red wine last night! Hubby went down to our wine cellar (that he built & stocked; we don't have human kidlets; remember? ) & pulled a bottle of my fav Foxen Pinot; I chose to NOT resist.

One of the many things The Big C taught me is: Life is Too Damn Short. Boy, that wine tasted GOOD and it was just stellar w/ my grass-fed steak & caesar salad (w/ parmesan "croutons"). I know it's supposed to be 21 Days, but I refuse to feel like a "failure" BECAUSE I did go 5 days sans wine, and that's quite an accomplishment for ME!
(perhaps that's another reason why it tasted so great; what a missed treat!)

I'll be doing a 2nd Deplete Week, not just because of the Wine, but because my Carb Count for the past week is (approx): 17~24~31~17~34~41~and 22 today (so far) cause I had a slice of low-sodium EZ bread w/ 3 fried eggs 4 lunch.

All in All; a Very Low Carb week (under 50) but NOT under 20 each day as per Week 1 of CTFLC; so I'll repeat Deplete Week. I'm OK with that & look forward to more Progress (& hopefully Perfection) during the 2nd round!

But no worries. I've been LC'ing long enough + I've done Atkins Induction enough times, I can almost Deplete on "auto-pilot"...KWIM?

EGGS ARE MY BEST FRIEND!!

It's just tough for me to keep it under 20 carbs a day. Hormonally, women in general just don't do well on less than 30 carbs a day. (btinc told me that) and 30 carbs was always kinda my "magic number" for VLC. But 40-60 is generally better for me.

+ btinc told me that, metabolically, there's really not much diff btwn 20-50 carbs per day. some (a very lucky few) can even get into ketosis at 50-100 carbs.

btinc was also one of the many people (I trust) that advised me "carb-cycling" is the best way to go. that's what he does, and his bodyfat % is less than 10%, I think!? amazing! I'll never get THAT low, but I'd love to get to 20%.

Inatic "carb-cycles" too, but doesn't "advertise it", since this is a LC Forum.

and of course, our beloved Watch-Me-Shrink (Twyla) carb-cycles too!

On the bright side, since I'm Depleting again (and should take only approx 72 hours to Deplete; maybe less since it's not like I have a huge supply of glycogen after last week's deplete) ~ I'm having some white wine tonight w/ my wild halibut!

might even enjoy a pear on my salad w/ goat cheese. Mmmmmmmm.
isn't it funny how much healthier our "cheat" foods have become?

But come tomorrow: no alcohol; no fruit; no sweets -- for another week.

Later Taters!!
I think you're doing great too HB ... especially, with all of the things you were going to give up at the same time!

Low carb garlic chicken

A tasty, healthy choice for anybody trying to lose a bit of carb-based weight. Highly recommended!

Ingredients

2 tsp. oil
4 single chicken breasts (16 oz... raw weight) skinned, boned, washed, cut into 1-inch strips
5-6 cloves garlic, sliced
2 1/4 C. chicken broth, low-sodium
1/4 C. lemon juice
1/3 C. dry white wine
1/4 tsp. salt
ground black pepper to taste

Directions

In a large skillet, heat oil to medium high. Stir-fry chicken strips until well browned on both sides. Remove chicken pieces and set aside. Sauté garlic slices until soft and golden. Stir in chicken broth, lemon juice, and wine. When mixture is hot, reduce heat to medium and return chicken to skillet. Simmer a few minutes to heat through.
Serving Size

4
It was pretty good, but I would have prefered it have a cream base instead of a broth base. Other than that it was very flavorful and delicious cold as well!
Sorry you had a tough weekend!

Thanks for sharing the recipe though, it looks good!

I understand, I keep to the basics for the most part...and never do any desserts, I just don't keep all of the low carb ingredients in the house!

I do like to try new recipes occasionally...or just use the old recipes and make it low carb myself!

Wow...did anyone ever say that you could eat 4-5,000 calories of anything when doing low carb?

I don't get why anyone would want to eat all meat...what is attractive about that? *sigh* And then to have followers...wow !!

And about your spot on WOE comment ~ I totally believe you have to find a way to eat that won't make you feel deprived and will help you stay on plan...so you can lose the weight...more of the time than your off!

That's one of the reasons this time, I'm on the higher end of carbs and doing fine. As long as they're healthy carbs and I'm exercising...I'm losing! And isn't that what it's all about?

OK, for today: I have a big meeting day today, so busy busy busy! After work is going to be dinner, exercising, studying and that's about it! Wheee !!

Question of the Day ~
Does your job/work make stress you out? Why?

Oh you bet ya my job gets stressful, my person has CP and is totally handicapped, no talking, does not walk nor stand he is complety dependent on me. I try to feed him nourishing foods he sticks right at 80 pounds I try to get him to get more but he tells his Dad then father says he is fine as he is, I calculate his food intake daily, if I try to get him to eat something extra he starts yelling at me, I get upset and tell him I do not get paid to take his rantings. I have speaker phones in his and my house so I have contact with him 24/7 I go to his house 3 times a day 7 days a week holidays and all but honestley I would never quit taking care of him we have a frendship and bond. He will be 59 this month I see him as a child because I have to cut his foods up like you would a baby so he does not choke.
He is my friend for life.

Have a super day

I can't imagine that much meat for that long either. Don't get me wrong.... I can eat a whole pot roast and not much else over the course of a few days... but I would be craving veggies something terrible if I tried that. Just looks like attention getting to me... LC version of "Supersize Me".

Making yogurt today with Hood milk. YAY!!! Can't wait for that yummy creamy deliciousness. Kids have been circling the kitchen like sharks in chummed water since I pulled out the cooler... I figured DD could use some good gut bacteria after being sick.

Q of Day -

Mmmm not too stressful... I mean I AM at home... but I worry a lot if I am doing enough for/with my kids. I have had to fight the need to "prove" myself by having them excell past where they would be if in school. They don't need that kind of pressure though so I let them dictate pace of schooling. Also, it means I am "always on". Unless they go visit grandparents, it is always work time for me. DH helps, but he averages 60 - 70 hours a week at work (so we can afford me at home) so he is tired when he gets home.

Also since I am home all the time I am housekeeper. Truly only fair. Problem is I detest cleaning and am a borderline housekeeper at best. So there is generally guilt issues there...

I wouldn't trade it though (most days)....

I decided that 1/11 (yesterday) would be my LAST cig!

I feel good about this; well, actually I feel like crap,
but I know that it will pass...

And I know the time is RIGHT.
It's time.

I mean it.
Was supposed to be Jan 1st; then Jan 5th; then it was ???
Last night I just decided...it's TIME.
It's NOT productive; it's NOT healthy; it's NOT pretty; it's just YUCK.

and once I realized that my "decision" was 1/11
(I have a "thing" re: 11)
well that just "sealed the deal" for me.

If I don't choose a date; it's never gonna happen.
(+ Hubby HATES it)

plus today is exactly ONE MONTH B4 I depart for Hawaii on 2/12
(just 4-day trip for meeting; but it's still a swimsuit milestone!)

That's stressful for sure, but it sounds like you get a lot out of the relationship too. That's awesome! How long have you been with taking care of him?

LOL...I'm cracking up about the kids circling like sharks! That's great!

And yes, how's the sick kiddo doing...on the mend?

Being at home taking care of the kids IS stressful, for sure! And about the housecleaning...you should think of it like this - housecleaning should be considered a talent and not everyone has the same talent...

I'm feeling good. A little investigation into my own FitDay stats confirmed something I've read on the boards many times. High fat! When I had losses and success back in 2002 I had low carb percentages and high fat percentages. Carbs ranged 3-9 or therabouts and fat was many times 75 or over. Mostly 70 at least.

My knee is feeling stronger every day now that I'm being so consistent with my stretching and NTing. Even at my advanced age (50s! arg!) the body responds to good treatment.

Better I think. Her eating is still not anywhere close to normal... she generally eats just about anything and plenty of it (fortunately she likes fruit, vegs, & salads). Now she is eating in a day what she was eating in a meal... but I always operate on the assumption that if kids are hungry they will eat... and that no one will physically starve because they don't like what I cook... So I fix and she stops when ready. I'm sure her poor tummy just isn't up to quantity yet...

Hope everyone has a wondrful day!!!

Yep, it does. Especially during February thru April. Extreme stress.
And the other thing that stresses me is financial---worrying about bills coming in vs money coming in. I hate owing money. Would love to be debt free------but would probably still be a tight wad.....

As far as I know we're still weighing on Wednesday. I'll have to go back to HB's thread and see what she said.

That's good to get encouragement on your plan and from your own past experience! Proof, it works!

Feeling stronger is good, especially for your knee! What's NT'ing?

That's good...and I feel the same way about kids and eating!

Another busy day at work....I need a weekend already and it's only Tuesday. Yesterday was a STRESSFUL day for me...and I handled it well and stayed on plan, so I was proud!

Activities for the day will be a lather, rinse, repeat of yesterday ... except it'll be a cardio (treadmill) day for exercise! I'm starting to get the "exercise is a habit" feeling again...wow I've missed that feeling!

Food will be added to fitday as the day goes (see name link) - but for breakfast I'll have a leftover piece of chicken breast, romaine, pickle and tomato in a LC wrap...maybe a little cheese to up the fat a bit.

Hope you guys have a great morning!

Question of the Day ~
This goes with yesterday's question ~ What is your healthy way of dealing with stress?

I'm going to have Hubby figure out a spreadsheet to base this challenge on % of weight lost ~
it will NOT be lb for lb as that would NOT be fair (for them) ~
sooooo I please need everyone's weights as of January 1, 2009.

1000 Dankes!!
Here's the official start and I don't see any change to our weigh-in day ... but HB confirm or correct when she pops in today!

Daisy I noticed that too, but we are not going to a.low them to win. WE WILL BE THE WINNERS! I see all of us in this group know we will be too. I am down 2 already from the first, but weigh in is not until tomorrow could be another pound by then.
I notice when I go high fats I do much better too Daisy.
Better run and fill up water bottle,

Question of the Day ~
This goes with yesterday's question ~ What is your healthy way of dealing with stress?

For me, it depends on what kind of stress. I have family stress, farming issue stress, and office stress. And then the kinds that I have control over, and ones that I really have no control over. So every day is different on what is stress, and how I deal with it. My best statement is that no matter what happens, I survive the stress.

Hope others have a better approach........

Exercising. I never want to, but when I do it works perfectly for managing my stress. You can really rant and rave in your head too which always helps.

I'll take that to mean we're still on Wednesday weigh-ins. I thought so, but was checking.

We are going to kick these guys little butts. I'm guessing our's are cuter though. Ha!
