Um, you're gonna be EATING those words on YOUR DIME, missy!! ![]() ![]() You better think again 'bout which team you wanna be on!! those girls over there, do they even have a WOE plan?? ![]() looks to me like they just kinda "wing it" every day!! ![]() we're gonna kick y'all to da curb!

I was 189 on Jan 1st.
HB - Dogs all four dogs are Boxers. I love 'em (now that they are getting along) but it has been a long time and I'm ready to see them going home. On the plus side I've been getting a lot of dogwalking exercise (no fenced backyard). It's pretty funny really to see me go down street with four Boxers heeling me, two on each side. The suburban joggers cross the street when they see me coming! And no afraid I'm not near Cary, NC (4 hours I think?) per say, but any NC folks who are driving to Jax will pass right by me... Today was good. Menu (Baseline): M1 - Cream of wheat & eggaccino (one egg) M2 - Broccoli/egg salad & 1/2 multigrain bagel M3 - Alfredo Beef Tenderloin & small salad M4 - Mocha protein shake

Sorry, I haven't been able to get online the past two days. Monday was my first day back at work after a 10 day vacation and it turned into a 12 hour day due to unexpected problems... The rest of the week didn't go much better. On Wednesday, my work laptop starting crashing. I was able to get restarted, but on Thursday it crashed on and off all day... by EOD it crashed for good. Friday, I was given a "laptop loaner" until my laptop is repaired or replaced. Unfortunately, the loaner does not have all the applications I need and, of course, none of my documents or sql programs that I need. In addition, the loaner is a low end model and is much slower... and of course I still have all my deadlines to meet. Hopefully I can survive until I get my laptop back (by Wednesday I was promised!) ![]() I am still looking for a full time job. I am working as a consultant (Sr. Business Analyst), but would really like to get a permanent position. The economic environment is so uncertain, it is really difficult at this time. The company I'm working at may have an opening... If so, keep your fingers crossed for me. ![]() Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I stayed on the low carb road... ate mostly fish and cheese with a salad w/tuna fish both Thurs and Fri for lunch. I know, I'm boring, but I really like fish, salads and cheese. ![]() I exercised Thursday, water aerobics and 30 laps. Friday, I dropped off my dog at a "doggie day care" near my office. I left work early and took Connor to the big dog park at FT Washington. We were there 1 1/5 hours... He had a great time and I got some exercise. Also, did I lot of walking at work Friday. I plan on going swimming today (Sunday). ![]() More later.... ![]() Nancy (NewMe12) "A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." Questions of the Day
Question of the Day ~
Is there an activity that you want to try, but have not due to your weight or physical fitness? What is that activity? There are lots of these types of activities. I want to go parasailing and get a scooter. The scooter I want has a weight limit less that 200 lbs. Also, I have very bad knees and suffer from back pain. My doctor thinks if I lose weight, but knees and back may be less painful. Maybe I could even go running again... Who knows... I just want to be healthier! ![]() Nancy (NEwMe12) |

I just tried a new recipe today. In fact Pupcake and I were eating a piece in our office while I was cruising about on LCF.
I made a recipe I grabbed from LCF called Simple Cocoa Brownies. They were really good. Pupcake didn't even know they were low-carb which is amazing. Of course I put a huge dollop of Cool Whip on his. ![]() and last week I made zoodles. OMG zoodles are my new obsession now. |

Nancy & Jennifer! Welcome to the 2010 Cruise Challenge!
![]() More on that later...for now: I enjoyed 2 glasses of red wine last night! Hubby went down to our wine cellar (that he built & stocked; we don't have human kidlets; remember? ) & pulled a bottle of my fav Foxen Pinot; I chose to NOT resist. One of the many things The Big C taught me is: Life is Too Damn Short. Boy, that wine tasted GOOD and it was just stellar w/ my grass-fed steak & caesar salad (w/ parmesan "croutons"). I know it's supposed to be 21 Days, but I refuse to feel like a "failure" BECAUSE I did go 5 days sans wine, and that's quite an accomplishment for ME! ![]() (perhaps that's another reason why it tasted so great; what a missed treat!) I'll be doing a 2nd Deplete Week, not just because of the Wine, but because my Carb Count for the past week is (approx): 17~24~31~17~34~41~and 22 today (so far) cause I had a slice of low-sodium EZ bread w/ 3 fried eggs 4 lunch. All in All; a Very Low Carb week (under 50) but NOT under 20 each day as per Week 1 of CTFLC; so I'll repeat Deplete Week. I'm OK with that & look forward to more Progress (& hopefully Perfection) during the 2nd round! ![]() But no worries. I've been LC'ing long enough + I've done Atkins Induction enough times, I can almost Deplete on "auto-pilot"...KWIM? ![]() EGGS ARE MY BEST FRIEND!! ![]() It's just tough for me to keep it under 20 carbs a day. Hormonally, women in general just don't do well on less than 30 carbs a day. (btinc told me that) and 30 carbs was always kinda my "magic number" for VLC. But 40-60 is generally better for me. + btinc told me that, metabolically, there's really not much diff btwn 20-50 carbs per day. some (a very lucky few) can even get into ketosis at 50-100 carbs. ![]() btinc was also one of the many people (I trust) that advised me "carb-cycling" is the best way to go. that's what he does, and his bodyfat % is less than 10%, I think!? amazing! I'll never get THAT low, but I'd love to get to 20%. Inatic "carb-cycles" too, but doesn't "advertise it", since this is a LC Forum. and of course, our beloved Watch-Me-Shrink (Twyla) carb-cycles too! ![]() On the bright side, since I'm Depleting again (and should take only approx 72 hours to Deplete; maybe less since it's not like I have a huge supply of glycogen after last week's deplete) ~ I'm having some white wine tonight w/ my wild halibut! ![]() might even enjoy a pear on my salad w/ goat cheese. Mmmmmmmm. isn't it funny how much healthier our "cheat" foods have become? ![]() But come tomorrow: no alcohol; no fruit; no sweets -- for another week. Later Taters!! ![]() Last edited by hummingbird11; 01-11-2009 at 08:11 PM.. |

The last recipe I tried was this: Low carb garlic chicken A tasty, healthy choice for anybody trying to lose a bit of carb-based weight. Highly recommended! Ingredients 2 tsp. oil 4 single chicken breasts (16 oz... raw weight) skinned, boned, washed, cut into 1-inch strips 5-6 cloves garlic, sliced 2 1/4 C. chicken broth, low-sodium 1/4 C. lemon juice 1/3 C. dry white wine 1/4 tsp. salt ground black pepper to taste Directions In a large skillet, heat oil to medium high. Stir-fry chicken strips until well browned on both sides. Remove chicken pieces and set aside. Sauté garlic slices until soft and golden. Stir in chicken broth, lemon juice, and wine. When mixture is hot, reduce heat to medium and return chicken to skillet. Simmer a few minutes to heat through. Serving Size 4 It was pretty good, but I would have prefered it have a cream base instead of a broth base. Other than that it was very flavorful and delicious cold as well!

Jennifer - My DH would be going with me on cruise...
HB - I'm proud of you!!! I think you have done fabulous. Today was carb up day. Did good and bad. Did good in that I only ate good carbs during day instead of a carb fest. Bad in that I overate my starchy meal and went past full to stuffed. I know better and will do better next carb up. We went out to Applebee's for family dinner with kids. Had good time. DD was sick again when we got home. First time in 3 days. I think she overate and it was just too much after being ill last week. Menu: M1 - 1/2 multigrain bagel w/PB & eggaccino (one egg) M2 - Broccoli egg salad & 1/3 apple M3 - Mozzarella sticks, mini-cheeseburgers & split a dessert (large choc chip cookie w/scoop ice cream) w/DH H20 - 60 oz Tomorrow is carb down day so only 1 starch before 3pm. G'night peeps! |

Oh... and I have been too lazy to try new recipes lately. I like to cook and love to bake but I just haven't been able to get excited about low carb cooking. I've tried. And tried. So I stick with my boring menu. Perhaps I'll get fired up about it in a few weeks...
