Okay, getting back on track today (in all ways!!). Went to Curves this morning and since the sun is out, I am leaving for the pool in about 20 min. I'm so happy when things go according to plan!!

Still retaining water but that's to be expected in this 100+ degree weather and no water pills. Hope to resolve that by tomorrow or the day after.

I've got some swiss steak simmering on the stove so supper will be nice & easy & on plan tonight. I can toss together a salad when I get home and we're all set to go.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day -- you all must be busy -- it's so quiet in here today!!

D

Another storm today, knocked out the power and of course my cable and internet too.I've been doing alot better on my waterI drank 6 cups today plus all the other stuff I drank.I thought everyone was going to freak out over my "problem" and it seems to be pretty common I am definately going to find that cereal I have taken fiber pills before but they really didn't work.I don't think I drank enough water.I didn't get to exercise today as dh came home and we went riding after the storm was over.I don't usually do any on Sun.either so that's 2 days in a rowIt's suppose to be nice tomorrow so back to the "HILL".It's so much easier when I do it every day, because I start getting lazy and don't feel like it.If it wasn't for all of you,I'm sure I would be ready to revert to my old ways
D,glad you got to Curves, and hopefully you'll get to go swimHow's ds1 doing?I'm sure he is feeling like a new man It's too bad ds2 won't get to see his uncle in D.C. I wish people would realize life is short and family won't always be there.I lost my oldest brother when he was just 43 of a brain aneurysm. He was in Calif.and I hadn't seen him in yrs.and then I never got to say goodby
YH, hope things went well at work.Does someone do your work while you're off or does it back up?I'm trying to talk dh into having the test when we go home but I don't know if he will.I was 57 when I had mine and I know they reccomend it at 50.
C,how wonderful that you found such a bargain! Some things are just meant to be I'm suppose to have company this Friday from Chicago and as dh doesn't get home until 6 or 7 I'm sure they will probably spend the night.I hope my sofa is comfortable because thats the only place to put them in this camperThey know this so it's up to them.
T and Sc you both are doing so good into getting in smaller clothesI haven't reached that point yet but you are both inspirations.Won't it be nice when we are ALL just maintaining our goal weight? How cool would that be?
A,what's the word from across the pond? Are you recuperating from your trip? How far is Bath from where you live? Have you been on the bicycle yet? I hope you haven't run over someone We love to hear from you even if nothing going on.You have such a way with words

Hi, Gals--

Seems like it's been a pretty laid-back day for most. Glad you got to Curves, D, and later the pool. Yeah, the raspberries can get expensive--we have berry growers in Watsonville so we may get them a little cheaper here. I love to put blueberries in my salad, with jalapeno dressing. I take them in a snack bag to the Mexican restaurant sometimes. The cereal doesn't raise your sugars, D? It's too high in carbs for me. Dh got me some blackberries from the local farmer's market, and I had just a few with dinner--those are really good, and high in fiber, pretty low in sugar. None of the berries seem to cause me a problem, either. But sometimes I think they might hold me back a bit on weight loss. So healthy for you though. D, you probably said, but I wondered why you are eating breakfast if it makes you hungrier?

I don't think I have lost much weight. I think I have mostly lost inches from exercising. I was tempted to get on the scale yesterday just to see, but I know I would be disappointed and that would throw me into depression, frustration, and most likely I'd go off plan. So I'm going to wait until I can get into a size 10, which is probably going to take 2 - 3 months. Or maybe even an 8 (I can dream, can't I)!

E, you and D sure have a lot of storms! It's probably pretty frustrating for you, but I sure miss thunderstorms. They're a rarity out here. We have lots of rain in the winter, but not thunder and lightning. Maybe once or twice a year in the transitional seasons, and then they are brief. They have them in the mountains though. We are real dry here now. They got most of the fires out for now, but the real fire season isn't until Sept. and Oct. Usually start raining in November. Wish it would rain now!

Anyhow, E, speaking of water...if I don't drink a lot of water and tea all day I would have your problem. So if you start drinking more water and taking the fiber, your problem should be solved. Yeah, the pills probably didn't work for you because you do need to drink a lot with them. Also, if you just eat protein you are going to have a problem. We have to be satisfied with a slower weight loss at our age, like C says. But then I think it doesn't come back so fast, especially if you have made exercise a habit as you have. You're doing so good--hang in there!

How was the wedding, C? Did you do OK with the food? We'll miss you when you go to Ohio--how is your cousin doing? I sympathize with you taking her to chemo. I did it for a friend who had leukemia. It's hard, but you know how much she will appreciate the support. Bless you, C!

SC, it seems like SB is going real well for you, and you're getting your exercise in, too! We'll think positive thoughts for your ds!

MsA, what's up with you? Hope you are doing well--we miss you!

Y, it's so great your bf went to the gym with you! This is probably good for him to be distracted a bit from the impending surgery, and also may help him feel like his life isn't so out of control. I hope it helps him get stronger and feel better. Now the challenge will be for him to get into a regular fitness program after he recuperates so he can be in better health. How were things at work, or dare I ask? Hope the witch didn't give you a lot of crap about enjoying yourself. She's always good for a laugh, though!

I'm getting a nasty cold, bummer. I hope I can go to the gym tomorrow but doubt it. Whenever I get sick I usually overeat. So far so good, but I feel hungry all the time. One good thing about exercising is, it takes up time so you're not eating! D, I also read that 3 - 6 cups of green tea per day can increase weight loss, by about 17% I think. So I'm going to try it for awhile. Here's today's menu:

B - egg, spinach, sausage
L - prawn tostada (no beans or shell), lc choc
S - few cashews
D - salmon, mustard greens with ginger, few blackberries
S - gouda, almonds

Have a good Tuesday, everyone! T.

Well I know you are busy C and hope things go ok for your cousin, great going on the bargains you found. I see Miss A is missing in action-hope you are ok A. Raspberries T - just love them but I buy whats on sale and thats usually blueberries or blackberries. I load up when raspberries goe on sale. Its like 5.00 bucks for the little container normally. Hope you can ward off that cold. SC-yard work after work-I applaud you, I could never do that. I see you are doing good with your am exercise, that 6 pound loss certainly motivates. I have the same problem too H - thats why I take the husk greens potion daily, the fiber pills never helped me. When I travel I really get blocked up for some reason. Back to your hill today !! So glad you got to Curves and pool D !! Now get your water pills today if possible. Interested in how your bran cereals work out for you and E. I surely hope your ac is working properly now !

Work is all backed up but what I expected. No one will touch anyone's work unless OT and they stopped all ot long ago. I sent an email requesting some which is a joke but that way I have a NO when someone asks why blah was not done. Sit on millions to save pennies. My back was iffy Mon. so just did a few callanetics, sitting here with melt belt on it, feels better-hope to stop at Curves after work. I tried the new quaker whole grain oatmeal today, tastes more boring than reg. oatmeal. How many calories in the new all bran and fiber, fat ?

Mon.
am-potion, cantelope and nectarine
lunch-oatmeal w few blueberries and 1 babybel
dinner-leftover porkroast and green beans
snacks-skinny cow, pretzels, fruiti, animal cookies, ughh-too much
exercise-random callanetics

Good morning! Nice to see everyone so chatty!!

I am retaining water like you wouldn't believe. I'm up almost 10 lbs in just a few days -- my water pills better be in today's mail or I am going to float away!!! My skin is so tight and I can't even move my rings at all now. Geez. I thought with the more weight I lost, I would lose this water retention problem too. Guess I haven't lost enough weight yet!!

E, I hear your frustration. It doesn't look like you are eating too many calories?? Your menu's look very well balanced, other than your all-protein days. If your WOE is not working for you, tweak it or change it. More water, less or more fat, more fiber, smaller or larger portions, maybe different exercise?? Could be one or more of those things, play around with them to find out. Also, you may be building muscle in your legs with all your power walks and that's why you are not seeing a change on the scale. I have heard that the Atkins shakes causes stalls in some ppl. I don't know that for a fact, never having tried them myself, so I may be wrong. Just what I read on the boards in this forum from others who have tried them. Maybe check out what some of us who are losing eat, look at our menu's. See if there is something we are doing or eating that you are not and maybe you can pick up a hint there.

T, I ate breakfast because I was trying out a new theory I read about to jump-start your metabolism, which said to eat within one hour of waking. I think my body gets used to the same old, same old and what worked for me 3 yrs ago doesn't work for me today so I need to try different things. I understand your anxiety when you step on the scale. I get frustrated when I see a gain but I still maintain that I need to get on my scale and keep tabs on my weight or I will lose control and start going in the wrong direction. And if what I'm doing is not working, I'll never know that unless I get on the scale to find out, know what I mean? I need to do more than exercise and tone up. I need to LOSE FAT. Once I lose all my excess weight, I can probably do like you do with the tape measure and clothing fit, but that won't work for someone who has a lot of weight yet to lose, IMO.

I just noticed my right arm is all numb, like pins and needles and the right side of my face feels a little funny. I hope it's not my MS. I've been in what I think is a form of remission for a little while now, meaning my symptoms have been very minor compared to what they have been in the past. Maybe I just slept on it wrong and I'm feeling it more because I am retaining a lot of water.

I'm getting my hair colored at 10 am this morning. This is the big -- will she dye me purple or not -- test!! (I'm going to the hairdresser whose son got in the accident with my son.) Wish me luck!!

I plan to go to the pool again tonight. It was pure Heaven last night. Oh, the temps outside were 101 when I went, and the water was a lovely 84 degrees. So refreshing but not cold at all. Loved it! Lately, it's been Maria and me swimming by ourselves. Sometimes one of the lifeguards will jump in with us but usually by 5 pm, they're exhausted from running around earlier with all the kids that they normally just take a quick dip and then sit in their chairs to rest up for the children's night swimming which starts at 6 pm. It's been nice to have that huge pool to ourselves for an hour!!

The Kelloggs All Bran Extra Fiber cereal is only 7 carbs per 1/2 cup serving. I have not gone over that serving size, so no, it hasn't raised my sugars at all. It's pretty tasty too, actually tastes better than the regular All Bran which I've tried in the past. It's extremely low-calorie compared to other cereals. For a 1/2 cup serving (without milk), it's only 50 calories and 1 gram fat, although it lists 0 saturated fats and 0 trans fats. It's in a small green & white box if anyone is looking for it and the title ALL BRAN is in large print with the words Extra Fiber underneath it. I'm drinking 2-3 cups of green tea also, and one of these things is flushing me out pretty good so I'll keep at both of them for the time being till I figure out which one is doing the trick, or maybe it's a combination of the both of them.

Yesterday's menu:

B-1/2 c bran cereal, 1/4 c ff milk, coffee
L-Italian "sub" made into a salad (no sub roll, just the fixins' over lettuce)
S-few pork rinds, lc bacon dip, green tea
D-swiss steak, cauliflower
S-babybel lite, few pork rinds

Water-112 oz
Exercise-45 min Curves, 1 hour swimming

For those of you that pray....pls keep little Vonn on your list. He is not doing good at all. His white blood cell count is so low that they're having to give him daily injections to boost it. If this keeps up, they may look to his older 20 yr old sister to give him a bone marrow transplant. He is now on a feeding tube 24/7 because he wasn't getting enough nutrients in him and they thought the feeding tube would be less stressful than trying to force-feed him when he has no appetite. Poor little guy. He is only 7 yrs old and fighting for his life at this point. Ds2 is going to try and stop by for a visit on his way back from Washington, D.C., although at this point they are limiting visitors because they are afraid of infections, etc. But I figure even if ds2 cannot get into see Vonn, he can give Vonn's mother a hug and support Vonn's older brother, who is ds2's classmate and friend.

C, I'm sure you're gone by now but my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your cousin.

YH, I'm still dreaming of our get-away!! We really need to put our thinking caps on ladies and come up with something fun and exciting!! Sorry the work was piled up when you got back but I guess it could be worse --- could have been all done wrong and waiting for you to come back and fix!

E, did you get out for your walk this morning? How did the driving go with your new friend yesterday? Are you posting in a neckbrace??

SC & T, glad you are doing good with your eating and exercise.

Miss A, where are you??

Well, I hope everyone has a great day today and stays on plan!! D

Missing In Action

Yes, back at the keyboard again! Have been catching up with stuff I didn't do yesterday.

Best and sincerest love to everyone!

Up at the crack of dawn yesterday to catch the bus to London where I was due to meet up with an ex-boss friend. It's a very good bus service all the way from Tivvy to Hammersmith, W London for £16.00. (Pronounce this 'Ammersmiff for that authentic London sound.) We strolled round Camden Lock for an ethnic tattooish ghoulish + piercing parlour market-y experience and ate lunch at a Chinese stall place. Yes, girls. I know it was off diet; it seemed a good idea at the time, and I didn't actually enjoy the food very much. It looked much nicer than it tasted.

A slogan on a teeshirt which appealed - "I'M NOT A GYNAECOLOGIST, BUT I'LL TAKE A LOOK".

Down to W1 and frolicked around Green Park, which is at Hyde Park Corner. By now it was hot! Amazing! Half London had got it's kit off and was doing dubious things in couples on the grass. Over to Oxford Street eventually, but the Sales were on and it was incredibly busy. Credit Crunch? What Credit Crunch? The shops were heaving.

I ate a sandwich and some fruit on the bus on the way home and TRoATU fetched me from Tivvy at 11.00 pm. Goodness, I was completely knackered.

No 1 comment from friend "Hey, have you put on some weight?"

So you see, my morale is shattered, and I got into that "Oh, what the hell?" frame of mind. I also tried on lots of MOB hats in John Lewis, Oxford Street, and not one of them suited me!!!

Thank goodness for your voices of worthwhile endeavour, with which I am enjoying catching up. By the way, Elaine, a large poster on the Underground was publicising a documentary soon to be on the box - 10 persistent young offenders to be given an experience of being in a really tough prison for 10 days - their thoughts fears, etc - name of programme "Banged Up". I do hope they won't be in your sense of the word....

Or one can say "doing bird" "in the jug" "doing time" or "porridge". We seasoned jailbirds know this sort of thing.

A nice pudding this evening anyway - the neighbour whose garden I watered brought over some raspberries from her allotment - v nice of her. TRoATU has just sped past the window on my bike! He said he was making some adjustments to it - looks OK...

Got to go. He wants to adjust the saddle for my height -

to all love Angela

Good to hear from you Angela! Sounds like you've had quite the adventure running all over London, but glad you are back now.

So...today I wore a t-shirt because I was getting my hair done and didn't want to ruin a good shirt in case the color splattered. Anyway, it's a tighter-fitting shirt, one that I don't usually wear. But...I got tons of compliments from ppl, telling me I was looking good, asking how I was losing the weight, how much I've lost, etc. Guess maybe I've been wearing baggy clothes too much lately. Anyway, was very uplifting to hear those things! Made me want to rush home and have a salad and keep on with my healthy eating!!

Angela, you'll be happy to know my hair did NOT turn out purple. My hairdresser held no ill feelings about ds2's accident with her son, and actually talked me into highlights in addition to a root touch-up, so my hair looks quite nice now. Whew. She asked me tons of questions about what I've been eating and we worked up a food plan that fits her lifestyle (at the salon all day long and a 45 min drive home every night) that would help her lose some weight. She loved my suggestions as far as what she could take to the salon with her to replace the regular Pepsi and corn chips that she munches on all day, (hardboiled eggs, celery w/cream cheese or all natural p'nut butter, pork rinds, string cheese, almonds and WATER) and said she may even bring her bathing suit in one day and join me for a swim when she gets off work. I find encouraging others helps ME to stay motivated too!

Oh and my water pills came in the mail today. Woo-hoo!!! Took 2 of those babies right away and I'm already jiggling so they're working -- thank goodness. Never was so happy to pee in my life!!

Was overcast earlier but the sun is finally coming out so hopefully I will get to the pool again tonight and maybe Curves tomorrow.

Nice to hear from you Miss A and your London adventures. How much weight have you put on...oh brother...that familiar comment seems like yesterday. Is your dh going to go bike riding with you ? I call jail in the hoosgow. I see BF in the pool now all gung ho, did not go to work. I stopped at Curves after work so I will skip on the pool and its so hot out. Glad you found someone to hang out with E - is she on a diet too?? I am not a water drinker-can't help you out there, I have my hot lemon water in the am and water in the potion and tons of black coffee. I have reverse insomnia E - when im up Im up, very tired on weekends and usually nap to catch up if possible which is no good because I dont want to waste the weekend with nappy poos. I am thrilled your water pills came D, I was worried about you-10 lbs-I would be flippen out. I bet you are alot blonder now and wearing those titty shirts and getting comments-you go girl The hairdresser has to give up the reg. pepsi for sure, I use to drink tons of it. I put in a slip for time off when BF in the hospital and after.....not sure if parents are coming or not yet as that is back and forth and im staying out of it, BF wants me there all the time monitoring what their doing whereas I think he will need me more after. And I have not figured out how I will make that drive. They may make me use vacation time as he is my significant other and im not gay, if I was a lesbian and he was it would be ok. thats Ft. Lauderdale- we will see if they sign the slip.

Hi, ya'll,

Whew, what a day. Took my cousin to the doc, doing allright. Just needs to keep eating and drinking to heal.
Thisafternoon, after the doc's appointment, I went with him to a Italian place near his house for him to eat. I ate a large salad w/ canadian bacon, mozerella cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, peppers and a great house dressing. I did sucumb to one cheese ravoli, so good.

Otherwise,
today was:
atkins shake, tea, toast w/ tiny smear of butter
sting cheese, few ranier cherries
sb frozen dinner, green salad w/ lc dressing, one square of Lindt 85% chocolate
salad as above, with one cheese ravoli.

Miss A, glad you are back. We missed you.

d, sorry to hear about the water retension. Isn't it the pits?

Yh, glad to hear things were backed up at work.

T, get to feeling better, I hate colds.

C, we will miss you. Take care.

Well, take care. Will check in tomarrow.

Hugs,
Slendercate

Well YH, I think you should put on a rainbow shirt and tell your office that you need time off to spend with your life partner, Gretchen. Not knocking being a lesbian, mind you, but hey, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!! Oh and titty shirts?? Titty shirts?? I have never heard that terminology before!! Too funny!!

I am down 4-5 lbs already, peeing every second of every hour. I'm sure the water will all be gone in a day or two. Note to self: do not give a water pill to a fat lady in a bathing suit. Man, it was a mad dash when I got home from swimming tonight, trying to peel off that wet suit w/o having an accident! What a relief when I succeeded!!!

Today's menu:

B-coffee, green tea
L-leftover swiss steak, salad, green tea
S-cheese, pepperoni
D-meatballs (no breadcrumbs), cabbage, salad, green tea

Water-96+ oz
Exercise-1 hour swimming

E, you are scaring me with reports of your friend's driving! Only missed 1 stop sign. Do you use your imaginery brake when she does that?? I would be pressing my foot down so hard from the passenger seat!!

SC -- ravioli, cherries, chocolate, toast, Atkins shake. I want to see that South Beach plan you are following!! (or borrow it is more like it -- hee-hee!) I get such a kick out of your menu's when you list "a bite of dh's muffin." I visualize this poor guy with a plate of food that has one bite taken out of each item. My dh usually asks me if I want a bite just as he's putting the last piece in his mouth -- smart guy!!

T, I hope you are feeling better. Your colds seem to linger so long. Mine do too. I think it's our weakened immune systems. Keep up the exercise if you are able!

Speaking of ill health....poor Vonn took another turn for the worse. His already low white blood cell count has lowered even more as he has come down with a staph infection. Poor little guy is not doing well at all.

Well dh is calling me from the bedroom to watch tv with him, so off I go.

Good night ladies! D

Hi, Everyone--

Gee, that is so sad about poor little Vonn. Staph infections often spell the end; that's what finally took my friend who had leukemia. It may just be his time. I'll keep him in my prayers.

I have an awful cold w/bad cough. Stayed home all day and just laid around watching tv with the poodle and dh. So boring. Hate staying home!

D, how is your arm and face feeling by now? I hope it was just the pressure of the water retention. But you made it to the pool and Curves, so you must be feeling pretty good? Glad your hairdresser wasn't still upset. How great that everyone is noticing how wonderful you are looking, and so many are benefitting from your dedication! You're helping a lot of people! How much does your friend need to lose? Do you think she'll actually do it? A couple of my friends say they are inspired by my devotion to healthy eating, too. One joined ww, which works best for her, and the other one found out she is diabetic, too, so is following a reduced carb and reduced portion diet. It sure helps when everyone gets on the bandwagon!

E, you sure are brave to go out galavanting with your reckless driving friend! Does she have a sight problem do you think? Oooo catfish and turnip greens--haven't had that since my soul food days in S. California! Sounds so good; is that a menu staple at CB? Yeah, you probably don't want to drink too much water before bedtime. How much are you drinking? Congrats on getting out and walking again--that's got to come off the hips!

MsA, good to hear about all your excursions. Too sad what your friend (?) said. Have you really put on weight or has it just been a long time since she saw you? Maybe she was jealous of how good you are looking and was being catty! Don't let it sidetrack you; you are doing so well--you will reach your goal!

Sc, your menus do look fun and interesting. What's in a typical SB frozen dinner? Do they have a particular balance of things and certain number of calories? They must be pretty good; I've noticed you eat them on and off. Glad your cousin is doing well--that's a relief!

Y, I guess I don't get what the difference is between a gay couple getting to take time off as opposed to a hetero couple. That's one for the books! Bf is sure making an effort to get in shape! Sounds like he has a positive attitude in spite of his anxiety. How is ds3 doing? Could he possibly drive you to the hospital? Good going to stay on your diet through all the stress! Hope your back feels better!

No exercise for me today but I at least tried not to overeat. It's always hard when you're sick. Today's menu:

B - egg, spinach, sausage, green tea
L - Chinese chicken and vegetable soup, small plum w/few almonds
D - eggplant parmesan, okra, prawns, little squash soup
S - gouda, almonds

Til tomorrow, T.

Glad to see your cousin is doing better SC and good job at the Italian place, bf loves italian and I have a difficult time, I have been trying my best to avoid restaurants. Last nite bf was reading menus off the computer from all these famous places making me nuts while tv marathon of ice road truckers.

Sorry about the cold T, chew some vitamin C's, a summer cold-never get those but come to think of it since i moved to Fl. rarely get a cold. Get better soon. I like staying home and watching the tube but not good for our plans !

E-can you mention to your new friend like " Oh, you missed the stop sign " casually or will she get ticked. Im sure she's that type of driver and just does not realize it.

Gretchen D ? im in love already sight unseen ! You have been in Ashby too long, titty shirts has been around for ages and still is. I can just see you trying to get your suit off quickly to pee, great you got to the pool !!! Im waiting for you to tackle the bathtub again ! I kept thinking of your story while in my jacuzzi tub at the timeshare as gs loved to overfill with bubble bath.

Oh, I had 2 guys come up to me yesterday who want to lose weight and asked me what I did as it appeared overnite to them ( because they never see me ) Now I never hear the comment from men about when are you going to stop losing weight-just women My top half looks very thin, arms, etc. but not my middle spread, too bad there is no such thing as spot reducing.

I see I got an email from bf's parents last nite saying they are coming, I think I will adjust my time off schedule now since they will be at the hospital the whole time, I think he needs me more when he is discharged. Vonn in my prayers.

Tues.
am-potion, apple and peach
lunch-salad and 1 hard boiled egg
dinner-ground beef patty and green beans ( tacos for guys )
snacks-pretzels, fruities
exercise-Curves and callanetics

Where is my Gretchen when i need her ????

I am going to KILL my cat! I got up to get something in the middle of my post and she got on top of my keyboard and totally screwed up something. It wouldn't let me type at all,I had to shut it down and totally reboot it.Thank goodness that worked because dh keeps telling me to close the top because he has caught her on it beforeAll the soft places to lay and SHE has to get on thisIt still has some new icon that I'm going to tell dh,just appeared all of a suddenI can't figure out how to get rid of it As I was about to say,I got a shock this morning.I thought I had been on this diet for 6 wks and I just found out Mon.was just 4! So at least this not losing is not as bad as I thought. I was thinking about trying the WW diet again as I always lose on that and thats what got me checking the dates. I was looking at my old WW weight card.I had lost 9.5 in 6wks.I'll stay on the lc for now just watch my calories.I am still frustrated at my scale. It goes up and down,I wish I had kept the box and I would take it back and get the old analog one instead of digital.I have no idea what I weigh but I will just keep weighing on Sat.and go from there
T,sorry you don't feel good. I hope it doesn't last long.
SC,isn't it hard going out to Italian and not eat the bread?I went to Chili's yesterday and my friend was saying "Oh just go wild for today and eat what you want" I just said no,I'm trying to get 40lbs off. She's one of the sabotagers when it comes to diet. She tried to tell me that whatever the carb count is,you divide it by 15 to get the real carb countShe said she took a diabetes class and they told her that.I didn't even try to correct her.Well I'm getting hungry, gotta go eat breakfast.Still looking for that cereal

Good morning gals!

I'm here, Elaine. Just slow moving today. I think I overdid it with the swimming last night, lots of aches and pains this morning, esp. in my shoulders and back. Friend called and asked me to go to Curves but I think I'm taking a day off. I have a lot of cleaning and cooking to do today as I'm having a sorority meeting at my house tomorrow, so it's just as well that I stay home.

Sorry your kitty was being naughty this morning! Gave me quite the little chuckle imagining her on your keyboard. Maybe she just wanted to type Hello! to us.

I don't know where your friend came up with that carb count equation. Carbs are listed on all pkgd products and to find the net carb, you subtract the dietary fiber from the carb count. There is no mutiplying or dividing by 15 that I've ever heard of and I've had Diabetes for over 5 yrs and have been to several different dr's and dieticians. Not that I'm an expert by any means but just that I've never heard of such a thing. Perhaps she is confusing it with her dr's suggestion that she eat 15 carbs per meal or something like that? I don't think she's being a very good friend if she knows you are trying to lose weight and she's encouraging you to go wild with your eating. I'd have a hard time going out to lunch with her if she was going to sabotage me like that.

YH has such great success with WW so maybe that is the plan for you. I drool over her menus sometimes but with Diabetes, it's just too high carbs for me, otherwise I'd give it a try too. I've done it in years past before I got Diabetes and I always lost good with it.

Sorry you are still feeling under the weather, T. Hope you will be able to get back to your exercising soon.

That sounds like a good idea YH, letting bf's parents take over the hospital visits. I'm sure you can pop over to say hello but your time off would best be served after surgery when parents have gone home and he needs waited on.

Okay I need to start cleaning and my shoulders are hurting. I will write more later.

D

Yep,You probably over did it I've been cleaning today too. I'm suppose to have a friend I worked with last year visiting on Friday.I may even give Jake a bath outside.he needs one I will keep eating out with my friend and try to encourage her.Maybe it will rub off. Is anyone familiar with Josh Groban? He sings so beautifully and His song "Believe" came on my ipod while I was walking and made me think of Vonn.I said alot of prayers while I was walking for the little guy.I hope some of them work

E, I never heard of that guy but thanks for your prayers for Vonn. Every prayer helps! Glad it was cooler weather for your walk today.

There will be 5 of us for lunch tomorrow. I just made an asparagus, ham & cheese quiche. Katie is making chicken salad. I will also serve a platter of pepperoni, cheese & olives cubed up on little frilly toothpicks. For dessert, I made mini cherry & strawberry cheesecakes. The grocery store was giving away over-ripe bananas yesterday so if I have the energy, I may make some banana bread too. I figure I can eat everything except for the banana bread, cheesecakes and the crust on the quiche. I am also making a sangria (wine with a variety of rum-soaked fruit sliced up in it), and some sun tea for those, including myself, who don't want to drink alcohol. I need to run to the church down the street in a few minutes. They have some pretty cut-glass luncheon plates that I'd like to borrow. Now I just have to hope for good weather so I can serve lunch on my deck because as much as I've tried to clean my house, it's still a mess. So much clutter everywhere, and I just don't have the closet space or a basement for storage. I think my friends will understand, they are pretty down-to-earth gals, but you know how you always want things to look nice when you have company.

So nice to hear that you're getting company on Friday too, E. I didn't realize you've been in that place for so long. Or is this a friend from the last place you lived at?

Sun is finally coming out so maybe I will go to the pool later. I won't swim so hard tonight though, maybe take a break in between laps instead of swimming the entire hour.

Okay, back to cooking & cleaning!! D

Gretchen's Sister

Well YH, I looked all over for Gretchen but I couldn't find her. I think she's off getting an exfoliating facial at RC.

However.... I did come across her beautiful older sister, Helga, who said she'd be more than happy to help you get the time off from work.

Interested??

So sad when I look at Helga and think....man, she has a better body than I do!!

Just in from swimming. My that felt good!! My hairdresser came down to swim for a bit tonight. I had told her yesterday how wonderful it was. She only stayed about 20 min but still, it was nice to have the company. Then Maria had to leave at 5:30 so I thought I may as well leave with her, since we were the only ones other than the lifeguards there by then. I got out of the pool and the 3 teenage lifeguards yelled at me to get back in and swim with them for the rest of the time. So I did and got my hour in.

Checked the scale tonight and I am back down to my pre-water gain weight!! Hopefully now I can lose a couple of lbs of FAT this week!!

B-1/2 c bran cereal, 1/4 c ff milk, coffee
S-few pork rinds, 1 tbs lc dip
L-ff turkey breast, ff cheese, lettuce, lc tortilla
S-olives, mozzarella cheese
D-baked chicken thighs, asparagus, salad, green tea

Water-90 oz and still drinking
Exercise-1 hour swimming

Starting to rain and just lost tv satellite dish. Darnit. Big Brother is on tonight and I hate to miss that show!!

Hope everyone had a happy day!! D

I am devastated. We just had a huge hailstorm and there went all my beautiful flowers. Our gardens are ripped to shreds. I am so upset. I wanted my friends to come out tomorrow and see how pretty everything is and now it looks like someone took a lawnmower and mowed it all down. I hate this weather.
