Hi there Angel! Good to see you! I watch the Olympics when I get a chance. I love to watch gymnastics, swimming and diving and sometimes volleyball.

Angela, you are such an exercise queen!

I messed up yesterday. I had a slice of carrot cake. One of my supervisors last day at work and I could not resist....I am so bad.

Angel - glad to hear your DH is back, for your sake.
I don't watch the Olympics mostly cuz I don't have a TV but the gymnastics definitely are fun to watch.

Liz - Yes, I am the exercise queen - I'm on a mission
Please don't feel bad about the carrot cake - remember, ya still gotta live life - as long as you don't use it an excuse to eat more carby food and you don't do it frequently - it seems fine to me.
Oh - my little sis just found out she has PCOS so I'm trying to help her out - any advice would be great - her doc put her on birth control and told her to eat better and exercise - I think that's it but I'm going to help her start eating low carb.

So had a grapefruit juice and Grey Goose last night in addition to what I wrote - was with boytoy

today:
s: kombucha
l: 1/4 fillet of leftover fish from yesterday with butter
d: will be smoothie with cod liver oil, just started adding in greens from Wilderness Family Naturals - they're the best ones so far.
also did TJ Learn & Burn and Punch, Kick, & Jam - a little over an hour and VERY fun!!

Hope y'all are doing well!

Oh - so now that you have the DM job, Liz - we must plan our get-together!

yes lets plan a get together. I most likely will have weekends off again...yay!

Sorry to hear about your sis and PCOS. How old is she?
The best advice I can give is to eat LC. It really helps with the symptoms. Have her do lots of research. They is a great BB website call soulcysters. Google it and have her read up on it and check it out. She can post with other "cysters". I dont take BC pills. I dont like how they make me feel. The only thing those are doing for her (for the most part) are regulating her cycles. I perfer to use Met. It helps reduce the size of the cysts and regulate cycles and helps with the insulin part of it. There are many different symptoms that PCOS gives people. She needs to find the right "tweak" for her. I also suggest she see an endocrinologist if she has not already. Hypothyroidism is linked to those who have PCOS. The endo can also help her treat PCOS better than an OB/GYN for example and thourougly check for the hypothyrodism.

Best wishes to your sis. PCOS is not a fun thing. Oh and she should take Bvitamins (sublingual) if she is always lethargic like I am. It helps with energy.

Angel - I saw on your Myspace update that you're celebrating your 10 year anniversary today - Congratulations - that's so awesome - what are the 2 of you doing to celebrate?

Liz - and I see that you aren't feeling well. You seem to have been sick a lot lately. Hope you're okay.
My sister that has PCOS is almost 29. I sent her the information you provided - thank you! I'll be talking to her soon to see how she's doing.

As far as a get together - YAY!! I'm available next weekend on Saturday (after 2) or Sunday (after 6:30) evening - or would that be too soon?

Have been doing pretty good with the food and exercise...

Thursday:
b/l: smoothie with cod liver oil, kombucha
d: lobster and a tiny bit of rice, grapefruit juice & Grey Goose - now that BoyToy knows that's my fav drink, he orders it for me all the time (straight up, in a martini glass)
s: LOTS of popcorn at movies (Tropic Storm) with Diet soda
50 minutes of Turbo Jam

Friday:
b: almond butter and full fat yogurt
l: Perfect Foods Bar, kombucha
d: went to McCormick's with BoyToy
a few bits of bread with spinach dip, 4 raw oysters, Pinot Noir, salmon stuffed with shrimp, crab, and brie, mashed potatoes, some hash browns from bt's plate
s: went to a French restaurant for dessert - chocolate/Grand Marnier souffle, 1/2 small bottle of dessert wine
1/2 hour Turbo Jam

Today so far:
b/l: Perfect Foods Bar
s: couple bites almond butter and yogurt, kombucha
d: not sure yet
probably no exercise

Later!

Yay Angel! Happy Anniversary!

Angela, you are doing so well. I dont have my new job until Sept 3 so until then my sched is a nightmare so I wont be able to make it next weekend. I announced my promotion to my store and 2 supervisors gave their notice. They say they dont want to work for anyone else and want to come with me to SF. I feel bad for the person taking over for me but I am flattered as well.
Your McCormicks dinner sounds divine!
How did you like the movie you saw?

Gosh, I didnt realize how much I was whining about being sick. I had the strep throat but that was about it recently. Sorry...everything is okay with me. The PCOS wipes me out with energy...maybe that is why I always seem sick. Anyway, sorry to be so whiny about it....I am doing well!

I am only semi on plan. I just am not really into eating OP. I am not really sure why. Since I took this new job in March I have been so bad. I attribute most of it to the stress and the schedule.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

I had a crazy weekend. Friday was our 10 anniversary and a birthday dinner for DH's friend, so we were semi off-plan for a chinese food. We went out last night for a dinner with just the two of us and I went off-plan again with a sampler platter. I have to get a bit serious again. So, I'm there with ya, Liz.

Today is DD's birthday. She's 5. I almost can't believe it. She starts school on Thursday. I just found out yesterday that her school is a uniform school. So, I have to go shopping for new school clothes for her in the next couple days. I wish I had known before now.

I'm off to bed soon. Have a great week!

Day 1 again! I have avoided sugar cookies and doughntus today. I must be doing something right.

B: bacon
L: costco bunless hot dog
D: Italian meatloaf w/assorted squash.

Happy Bday to your DD, Angel! What do you think is happening to get us off plan and not so serious? Are we just bored? I cant figure out why I am having a hard time getting on track. I have a few reasons but they arent the only reasons.

Have a good day!

Thanks, Liz. She had a great day. It was fun.

Congrats on avoiding donuts and cookies! I actually didn't avoid that yesterday. I ate 1/2 of one because I didn't eat before going to church and was starving. I caved.

For me, I think it's complacency. I'm at goal, so it's easier to "justify" extra carbs here and there. I'm not really trying to lose any more, so the motivation to stay on plan to see a lower number on the scale isn't there so much. Also, I think that the higher level of carbs (not in ketosis) makes me a little more apt to get cravings.

I'm off to bed soon. Have a good evening, ladies!

Liz, How did day 3 go?

Angela, How are things going for you?

I'm having a sad evening. DD starts kindergarten tomorrow. My little girl isn't so little any more. It's harder than I thought it would be.

In terms of my WOE, things are going well. I did comfort eat Dreamfields pasta tonight, but I don't think that qualifies as going off plan. It's better than diving into a plate of chocolate chip cookies (which sounds wonderful, by the way).

I'll be heading to bed soon. I'm exhausted. Nighty, night.

It's so quiet in here! Where is everyone?

I'm doing well with staying on plan. I bought some Carbquik that arrived the other day, so I'll be trying out some recipes with it. I made a chocolate microwave muffin the other day that turned out pretty good.

Liz~
How are things going for you? When do you start your new job again?

Angela~
Are you still with us? Is boy toy taking up all of your time?

I might have to come bug you guys in Myspace soon.

Hi I am here...WOW!! Good job on the loss!

I am not doing well. I am semi on plan. I have my days. I start my new job on Sept 3. Maybe I will do better when I start that job. Who knows. I just know that while I have been complacent in the past, I have never been this bad.

Have a good day! I log on here daily..I just dont post because I dont have many good things to say about my eating.

Angel, if you have any good recipes....please let me know. I dont have carbquick but might end up buying some so I can try some recipes that I have been wanting to try.

Have a good weekend. I have one more week at my store and then I am off 3 days!!!

Hi there...

I can't believe, once again, how long it's been since I last posted.
I'm going to bed now so I won't post my menus or replies.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm still here and I read your posts every few days or so.
Have been with boytoy A LOT because he's starting school again this week and we won't have as much time together.
In a way that's a good thing though cuz I haven't been able to get much done...but I don't mind

Write more later...hope y'all are doing well...

Yay thanks for dropping by Angela. I was wondering what happend to you.

On Thur night I am meeting my the managers who will be in my dinner...guess where we are going? Pizza Orgasmica in the city. A pizza place!! Grrrr..but they have some salads on the menu too. So at least all hope is not lost.

Have you ladies tried McD's iced coffee yet? It is delicious. I got the sf vanilla but it said with an * sugar from other ingridients. So I am thinking they mean the milk they put in it. So last night I brewed a pot of coffee and will put some cream and sf vanilla syrup in it to see if I can replicate it.

Have a good day!

Okay...so I haven't been eating so great..by that, I mean I've had a higher carb meal or snack almost everyday for the last week and a half.

Still having the smoothies almost everyday though I think I may take a break from those for awhile - I don't know.
I even had a huge urge to do induction for a little while again.
It's just so difficult being around people who don't eat low carb, which is most people I know. But it's a part of life so I've got to learn.

Boytoy started school on Monday & we've stillbeen together a lot. It's making a bit difficult to find time for exercise too.
The thing is is that I'd rather spend time with him that do just about anything else so...

We're both going to start this new exercise program called PACE. He bought the book last week & it makes a whole lot of sense.
The best part is that you only need to do cardio 20 minutes a day.
It's a lot like HIIT which is so popular now.
I'll tell you more about it when I start doing it and see results.

Going to do Turbo Jam & Callanetics today. Haven't done Callanetics in about a week and a half & I kinda miss it.

Liz - so excited for you to start your new job - that's so awesome what those 2 supervisors did when you gave notice. You sounded like an awesome manager but that's above and beyond - woohoo!
Good luck tomorrow at the pizza place - if you can resist that and eat a salad while everyone else is eating pizza - you can do ANYTHING!
It sounds to me like you need structure to eat well - I'm the same way - I'm sure when you get into the swing of your new job, it'll be much easier to stay OP.

Angel - How are you handling DD & kindergarten now? Feeling any better?
Did you lose more weight or did I just not remember the 141.5?

Okay - Later!

Liz - I’ve tried a couple of recipes. I made cinnamon rolls that turned out pretty well. They weren’t fluffy like yeast dough ones, but they were good. DH decided I’ll have to make them again. They reminded me of the cinnamon rollup cookies my mom used to make out of left-over pie crust. I got the recipe from the Bisquick site and altered it for LC. I had to add more cream to make the dough workable, but here's the recipe I went from.

2 tablespoons Splenda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 1/2 cups Carbquik mix
1/3 cup cream
1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons Splenda
2 tablespoons butter, softened

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Grease bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan. In small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon; set aside.
2. In medium bowl, stir Carbquik mix, 1/3 cup cream, 1/3 cup water and 2 tablespoons Splenda until dough forms. If dough is too sticky, gradually mix in enough Bisquick mix (up to 1/4 cup) to make dough easy to handle. Turn dough onto surface well dusted with Carbquik mix; gently roll dough in Carbquik mix to coat. Shape into ball; knead 10 times.
3. Roll dough into 15x9-inch rectangle; spread with butter. Sprinkle evenly with Splenda mixture. Roll up tightly, beginning at 15-inch side. Seal well by pinching edge of dough into roll. Cut into 1 1/4-inch slices; place cut sides down in pan.
4. Bake 23 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan.
5. In medium bowl, mix powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk until smooth. Spread glaze over warm rolls.

I also made blueberry muffins that were good. I used blueberry davinci’s since I didn’t have any actual blueberries. Next time I want to use unsalted butter and real blueberries to see how they work. http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ne...e=1&p=10785039

I haven't tried McD's iced coffee. I'm kind of afraid of it because I don't know really what's in it, ya know?

Thanks for the congrats.

Angela - Yes, I did lose another 1.5 lbs. My pants are getting a bit loose. I don't know if it's enough to go to a smaller size yet, but it's enough to bug me.

I am doing better. Thursday and Friday were hard and I'm a little annoyed at the teacher because all she ever says is "She needs to work on . . ." and then she has a list of several things. It's only the second week of school!

It's great that things are so good with boytoy. I'm glad you are having such a good time. Maybe you can recruit him to LC, then it will be easier for you to stay on plan.

We should plan a get together for next month. What is a good time for everyone?

Not much time to write again but wanted to say Hi!

Angel - those recipes look great - I'm going to have to get me some Carbquik

Liz - how did the pizza place meeting work out?

Ate good today & did a little bit of callanetics.

Wanted to also share with y'all my most recent find - it's so good,
I can't believe it - STEVIA SWEETENED LEMONADE - AND IT DOESN'T TASTE LIKE STEVIA!!!
They had a demo yesterday at my fav health food store - and it's made in Santa Cruz...
Olade
I just can't believe how good it is - I haven't been able to have lemonade for years - I was just overjoyed

Later!

PS - yes, get-together VERY soon! Do Wednesday nights ever work by chance?

Hi Ladies!

I am sorry I have not been in here much lateley. I just finished my last day in my store yesterday and it has been rough to say the least. We lost several supervisors and I feel sorry for the poor girl who is taking over for me.

Pizza dinner was just that...pizza and breadsticks. I did not eat a lot just a slice of pizza and one breadstick.

Wednesday are my admin day. Our week begins on a Wed and ends on a Tue at the place where I work so Wed are full of conf calls up till 5 or 6pm. Wed are the thorn in my side day. Sorry I cant meet. I do have Sat and Sun off now guaranteed. I dont have to worry about other people's availability and all that other stuff.

I was over at my BF's Dads house for dinner and he made these fig appetizers. Figs with proscitto and blue cheese. You just broil it until melted. It was so yummy and pretty LC I would imagine. I am not sure how LC figs are but I am sure they cant be that bad. I should go and check fitday about them.

Just relaxing for the next few days. I have to do some conf call on Tue and then back to work on Wed.

Hope everyone has a nice relaxing holiday weekend.

Oh and Angela, I cant wait to try that lemonade. It sounds super yummy!

Ok - haven't felt much like writing lately...that's my excuse...seems like we've all been in that boat, I'm assuming...

So now we REALLY need a get-together...SOON...it will be much easier to catch up in person...and it doesn't involve typing

Would next Sunday evening work by chance?
I could meet at 5:30. I may have time the following weekend as well, just don't know when yet. And someplace reasonable like The Counter or something like that would be great...what d'ya think?

I've been good with food since I last wrote with the exception of popcorn on Friday. Back to smoothies again and have been eating a lot of chicken and broccoli dipped in Ranch dressing - was so glad to have found one without soybean oil - going to make my own next time though.

Didn't do Callanetics like I said I was - only 5 of them this month - oops...
I'm trying to focus more on cardio and implementing the new program...just 20 minutes 5 days a week...
5 minutes warm up
2 minutes high intensity
2 minutes to resting HR
2 minutes high intensity
2 minutes to resting HR
2 minutes high intensity
5 minutes cool down

this can also vary...supposed to decrease time of each interval each week but increase intensity...I really like it and it makes so much more sense than long moderate intensity workouts. In many research studies, it was found that people lost 9 x's more fat doing this type of cardio as opposed to 45 minutes of moderate intensity.
So I'll keep you updated on the results...so far I've done this with Turbo Jam...going to do it on my rebounder next! You can also do it with squats, lunges, what have you. I'm also looking into Russian Kettlebells...I hear really great things.

Okay...that's all for now!! B-Bye!!

Oh, Angel - found some great Carbquik recipes that may want to try...I know I'm going to....recipes below...

Liz - that fig things sounds so yummy!

Chocolate Chip Cookies/also great just as dough!!

these got REALLY great reviews where I found them:

1 cup almond flour
2 cups Carbquik
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup polydextrose
2 eggs
1 ½ sticks butter, softened
½ cup granulated splenda
½ cup erythritol
½ cup vanilla Designer whey powder
1 tbsp vegetable glycerin?? - not necessary apparently
1 tbsp molasses
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups sugar free semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 cup walnuts

Combine Carbquik, almond flour, baking soda, and polydextrose in a small bowl, set aside.

Beat eggs until smooth. Add butter, beating well. Add sweetener, erythritol, whey powder, glycerin, molasses, and vanilla until creamed.

Gradually beat in Carbquik mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Chill cookie dough for a few minutes before proceeding.

Drop by heaping tablespoon onto baking sheets covered with parchment paper.

Bake in preheated 375 oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Let stand for 3-5 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Nutrition information per cookie (based on about 50 cookies):

Snackeroons

1 c. grated chedder cheese
3/4 c. CARBQUIK
( here it calls for 3/4 c. rice crispies but I just skip them)
1/2 c. crushed walnuts
1/2 tsp. garlic salt (I use garlic POWDER instead of salt)
1/2 c. butter (soft) (I use expeller pressed Coconut oil instead)
6 slices crisp crushed bacon (I use 9 pieces instead of 6)
2 tblsp bacon drippings or oil (again, the Coconut oil)
4 to 5 tsp. ice water

Combine all of the ingredients, form into balls and bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 375 (or until golden brown). A silicon baking mat is really great for these. If they spread too much you might chill the uncooked balls before baking. Next time I make these I'm going to try Pepper Jack cheese.

Hello ladies...looks like all of our lives are a bit crazy right now.
Just wanted to dropa in real quick...

Have mostly been eating roasted chicken, broccoli and ranch dressing, an occasional smoothie, kombucha, and a few Perfect Food bars and coconut haystacks (coconut oil, unsweetened coconut flakes, unsweetened cacao powder, vanilla, and agave) lately.

Had dinner with BT on Sunday and Monday and had green tea, miso, sunomono, and 4 Tsunamis (salmon wrapped around a mixture of rice and macadamia nuts, unagi, and avocado) on sunday.
Monday was grilled veggies with yummy cheese on the side for dipping, 2 glasses of wine, and almost half of BT's brownie sundae (which was huge).

Trying to not to be too hard on myself about the occasional high carb indulgences. I save them only for social occasions.

You may have noticed that I erased my Callanetics info.
I'm making some changes in my routine. I just don't have (or even want
to spend) more than 30 minutes at a time working out.
I'm still doing the HIIT - working VERY well so far.
I'd like to add in either body weight exercises with it (do as many as you can
in one minute, rest for a minute, repeat for 20 minutes) and possibly
kettlebells as some point - need to go to Play it Again Sports in San Jose to check them out - I've heard so many great things, I'd like to get this DVD:
The Kettlebell Goddess Workout
