How About Some PenPals For Us older Folks..

Just wondering if some of you older ones on the board want to start a pen pal group.
We can chat about anything that interest us, our weight, diet, hobbies, etc.
Lets just have a fun site here where we can all get to know each other and be friends.
Hope to see you here soon..............

I'm not very flexible at the moment, but I'm feeling "older" after having back surgery last month.
(Actually feeling better than before surgery, but .. you know what I mean LOL)

I'm going to be 59 in a couple of weeks! Barb...I had back surgery in 1988 and have enjoyed good 'back health' ever since. My best advise is 'if it's on the floor, it doesn't exist' which is what my back surgeon told me and it was good advice.

Am trying to get back on South Beach after slipping off a month ago. I need to start making those favorite low-carb dishes and stocking up the fridge....AND throw out the ice cream that my husband so dearly loves.

I HATE to exercise so that is a constant nagging point of guilt for me so need to start walking the dog again. Has anyone ever met a person who liked to exercise? If so, send me their secret.

Hope all have a good day!

JArose I have had back surgeries to and I never bend to pick up anything off the floor, I use those handy Picker Uppers I buy at Wal-Greens Pharmacy. I have four of them, one for the laundry room, one for the kitchen, one for my bedroom, and one for my office. I am usually always dropping something so these little gadgets come in handy.

I am doing Atkins, been on it for a few years and already lost most my weight but wanting to lose more if I can. But this last bit does not want to come off like the first did.

Me!! I used to be so addicted to exercise! I cannot WAIT to be able to do something besides walk again!! It's the endorphins, I swear. You just get to feeling SO darn good you want to do more and more.

20 years of good back health since surgery?? That is sure encouraging. I'm just a month post op and I'm going crazy here! I have a "grabber" that I use to pick things up, and get laundry out of the dryer, etc. Sure comes in handy, cuz I am nowhere NEAR touching the floor. Well, my squats are getting closer at least! I still have a month of no BLTs. (Bending, lifting, twisting) or DRIVING. Sigh. Makes me a very dependant person, which I am not good at.
So I walk.
Sometimes I feel like Forest Gump when he started running and just kept running. I do that sometimes with my walks. Then I pay for it when I am too far from home and have to turn around and walk BACK!
My DH is an ice cream lover as well. Even the DOG has his own ice cream.

I lost about 40 pounds and maintained my weight for about 3 years with no problems. Even with the back issues I was staying within 5 pounds. THEN in November I quit smoking. Well, Of course I did not even attempt to stay low carb. Well, I did for maybe a week. Then forget it. Then the back got worse and I still didn't smoke. And here I am 30 pounds back on.
Actually before surgery it was 40 pounds so I have made a little progress. I am now maintaining my 30 pound gain
Anyway, once I am mobile on my own again I plan on jumping in with both feet again. Kind of hard right now being dependant.
How's your back now Pcola??
