anyone interested in a snail mail pal?

I'm hoping to find a lowcarb buddy who enjoys writing letters and postcards and receiving the same. I miss having some real mail once in a while. <g> No pressure, though -- I'd prefer if we could just sit down and write when the mood hits and we have the time, and not keep track of who last wrote to whom, who "owes" a letter and who doesn't, etc. I like writing letters to be a joy, not a chore, know what I mean?

I'm 47, an at-home wife and mom with an unfortunate lack of the housekeeping genes, but I make up for it with an abundance of the goofiness genes. I'm diabetic (T2) and am doing my own high-fat/low-carb plan, a mishmash of various plans, taking what works for me and ditching what doesn't. I love to read (mostly SF/F and history, but I enjoy all sorts of books) and like to knit. I live in Iowa, in a big old house that is in need of lots of renovation. I've never really done much in the way of gardening or canning food, but hope to start both of those this year.

Anyone wanna correspond? Drop me a PM if you think you'd enjoy being pen pals!

I'm not much of a correspondent, actually, and got worse when I went online. Have you considered writing to servicemen who are far from home and get no mail at all? Lots of your everyday observations might bring joy to the heart of a soldier who gets a letter and who forms a bond with a supportive friend living in America's heartland. Try AnySoldier.com for a start on your correspondence. And keep on posting at LCFriends, to keep us apprised of your progress in activities and in your LC plan.

Thanks for the link! I've done this before many times, but usually through friends or family passing on addies for me to send to -- my hubby is ex-AF, and we have lots of family and friends still in various branches of the service. The link you posted in *wonderful* and I hope other member see it and start sending letters. Thanks again!

You sound as if you really enjoy writing letters - and how much more pleasure you will get knowing that some lonely soldier will open your letter and feel not quite so alone or forgotten for what you write about life in America's heartland.

Love snail mail to, I find it more personal than just emailing each other.
Lene sent you my email address already. Hope you get it ok.
I think I know you already from a previous snail mail group. You have have my old address when I was staying with my daughter. Moved now into my own home so I sent you my new address.
See ya later.

Hi Lene

You and I were going to snail mail, once before. I wrote to you but never received a reply from you.

Want to try it, again?

Sammi, I know you to, I have your address and Lene' from before when we were doing snail mail.
But I have moved to a new house now and no longer at my old address so Sammi if you want it I can PM it to you.
I sent it to Lene already.

Sammi, I'm so sorry! I don't know what must've happened then -- I do know for a while there I was away taking care of my mom, and then ill myself, so maybe your letter got lost in the clutter at my house during that time. Jeff ended up pitching a huge pile of what he *thought* was all junk mail at one point, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if your letter was stuck in there. (We found out later that an electric bill was apparently in that pile -- eeek!)

But yep, I'm doing well now and not overwhelmed by piles of old mail that I can't sort through, so I'd dearly love to hear from you again. PM me with your mailing info so I can send out a card to you, too.

Hi all you snail mail buddies. Whats up with you today?
Lene, are you going to put together a list of the snail mail group like you once did before?

I hadn't even thought about it -- I was just hoping to find a few people who might like to be my penpal, hadn't thought about any sort of organized group or anything. Maybe anyone who wants to write to others who post in this thread can just drop them a PM to exchange addresses and so on?

I'm going to buy some stamps this afternoon so I can actually *mail* the little letters I've started. LOL Checked my purse earlier and found that I was completely out of stamps. I could've sworn I still had some, but maybe Jeff needed them to mail something. Or maybe I just can't remember what the heck I have in my purse, huh? <g>

Lene, I always keep a book of stamps in my purse and some on my desk to. I also keep boxes of cute and fun cards so when I feel in the mood to write I have them already and don't have to stop and go buy them.

I don't think so -- I think it is best if I just let everyone who wishes to write to someone in this thread PM those people with their mailing info. I hadn't originally set out to make a big group thing, just was hoping to find some penpals for myself, and I don't want to assume that everyone who responds here is interested in writing to a whole group of people. Some may just feel up to writing to one or two pen pals...
