Okay, here goes. I'm a retired caterer...now part time bookkeeper. Two grown sons, two grandkids...but a "young" 60. My head still thinks I'm 35!

My husband has some fairly serious health issues, so I work a bit outside the home for a break from being a caregiver....and I try to keep up with most of the things around our home with occasional help from a handyman. Some sneaky pounds decided to hang around and invited their friends to join them. Now there's at least 20 of them who need to go live somewhere else.

Doing yard work this morning reminded me of how out of shape I've become! We live on a hill top with six acres, wooded on the back perimeter and a beautiful view of the valley in the front. We have two cats and one very protective dog who keeps me feeling comfortably safe and protected. We've done some interesting travel during our "career" years...had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan and Africa during two sabbaticals. In spite of a couple of bumps on the road of life, I feel blessed with a great family, comfortable home and I am still learning not to take anything for granted. Don't know what The Master's plan for me is, but I'm trying to understand and enjoy the journey.

Other than that...not too much to tell. I'm in the same boat as everyone else on this board....trying to get healthier after a period of neglect. Hopefully the South Beach plan will work for me. Just getting started, but this is the perfect time of year to move off the couch! I love carbs....not a good start! And I enjoy wine with dinner, so that's why I'm doing a modified P1. Thanks for the welcome.

I know what you mean about those extra pounds moving in and bringing friends. They can be so darn sneaky!
