We have similar interests and I am in this for the long haul. I am 30, have 71 pounds to lose, Spent most of my life on the West Coast area but currently in arkansas. I also have a close to two year old. She is 21 months.

I use yahoo messenger if you want to chat online sometime. I am great for support and encouragement and I am determined that I am going to keep this as my way of life, not just for weight loss.

Email me back if you are interested. Thanks.

Would love to e-mail. What is your address? I have been thinking of taking measurements also, but don't know where to take them.

Hi, I'm mom to 7 children and I'm also going back to college to be a RN. I'm in my first semester. Just started 2 days ago. I also started my Atkins Diet 2 days ago. So far so good.
I'm 35 years old and I have 100 pounds to go. But right now I'm just taking it a week at a time. I hope to get rid of at least 5 pounds this week.

All 7 of my children have Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance). I also have it. One of my children has Aspergers Disorder (high functioning autism). Being on the gluten free diet has helped him so much. My oldest child is 16, my youngest are 3 year old identical twin boys. My hubby is disabled and stays home with the kids. My mother homeschools the 5 older ones.

I have struggled with my weight ever since I had my first child. I know now the time is right and this diet is right. I'm here for good. I think being in college will help a lot. If I can just figure out what to eat for lunch instead of a can of tuna.

We've lived in south Mississippi all our lives. I would love to be a travel nurse one day when the kids are older.

My email is skylark7k@bellsouth.net

I'd love to be your PenPal!!

I always cook a little extra dinner and eat it the next day for lunch. So I have quite the variety for lunches. I have yet to get to the tuna fish I bought. Trying though. If I could get through my left overs. LOL....

dinners

Christa, what do you typically make for dinner? I was going to try some of the recipes here, but haven't yet. I usually end up making at leat 3-4 different meals for dinner as no one here eats the same thing

Wow that must be tough. I only have a 22 month old and a hubby. I don't give either of them a choice what to eat. I make one thing if they don't want it they go hungry or make there own dinner. hehehe... I am a little more forgiving with the little one though but she knows the rules so she eats anything I give her and so does hubby. Last night she even ate steak and salad for dinner. I give her fruit and bread also for her carbs. She pretty much eats what I eat but with bread and fruit added. But she gets no sweets or sugar drinks. Only healthy snacks and water or soy milk. But you weren't asking that LOL.... Trying to start her off right and maybe when she grows up she won't make the same decisions I made.

I have things like, steak and salad, pot roast and a salad or a veggie, baked chicken, fish, sausage and squash, stir fry's. Stuff like that. I haven't gotten too creative yet. My mom is getting me the cook book for my birthday. My birthday isn't til the end of april but I think that she is going to send it early LOL... Just foods like that. I always cook enough for me to have the left overs the next day for lunch. Breakfast is always a bacon and eggs or an egg and an atkins breakfast bar. Lunch is left overs and then I cook dinner. Not too much variety but enough for me. I kinda like the repetition. So how have you been doing?

I'll be your buddy

Started lc last week and have lost 8.2lbs. I started at 180 and hope to get to at least 140, however something lower wouldn't hurt my feelings . I'm a 26yo mother of two boys. We just relocated to Massachusetts from Georgia, so I have no support system beyond my husband for this diet. I gained all my weight after the kids and am bound and determined to loose it. Email me if you want to chat.

Hello everyone.
My name is Ginger, I'm 25 and a single mom to a wonderful 21 month old named Jake. I too started back to school this semester- nursing school. I will hopfully be in the actual nursing program by next spring or sooner. I started Atkins in November, I lost 10 lbs and 6 inches on the induction and with the holidays I fell off the wagon, but am starting whole heartadly again today. I'm at 220 and hope to be down to 160. This site helped me so much the last time with support that I knew I had to come back. Good luck to everyone, we can do this!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome newbies!

I am so sorry I haven't replied to some of you yet. I have been so busy writting back to every one who has e-mailed me! I think It would be great to have an ongoing Message board, If you would like to. There are alot of nurses or people in nursing school who have written me! Which is great as I would like to find out more before I actually start the R.N. program! Also some moms with learning disabled kids! I feel that is so important, we devote so much time to our kids and don't take out time for ourselves.
I have a confesion to make, I felt that I had not lost any weight all month and was very blue, I told my husband that I was going to quit LC as It obviously wasn't working for me. He went out ( without telling me) and bought a scale! It turns out I actually lost a good 7 pounds so far this month!!!! I am so excited, I am a very slow looser and this has given me a new boost of confidence that this way of life is for me ( plus the food I ate that day didn't taste as good as I thought It would, I found myself craving LC food instead! )
Take care!- Little77

Hello!

Hi Katen! My daughter will be 3 in April. She LOVES McDonalds as do her brothers!!! Also they love pizza, last night I ate the topping off of a pice - BAD! But at least I didn't eat the crust!
Christa, that is WONDERFULL!!!! 19 POUNDS LOST! WOW!!
I also feel that the exercise is very important for some, I really think that is why I am losing now. I walk ( not run ) about 20 min. 4x a week on my treadmill. I also started pilates for abs, I have done it twice and I can already feel a difference in my upper abs, and in my back area. Any one else recommend am exercise tape? I am thinking of buying a new one every 10 pounds as a reward. Also, If you can think of any particularly bad videos let me know too
Keep UP the GOOD WORK Everybody!!! As Christofer would say "YOU CAN DO IT!"

I just bought my reward yesterday. 2 pair of jeans and a pair of slacks. I was wearing a tight size 20 when I started this diet and now I am in a comfortable size 18. Every 20 pounds or so I will reward myself with some new jeans. I know taebo has some really good videos that do wonders.

GREAT JOB!!!!!!!! I got into some 18's that I haven't been able to wear too. I was so very excited, I don't want to take them off. I started lifting weights and doing yoga. I'm on a plateau, don't know what to do now except wait. I'm at 15lbs now and have been for over a week. I have faith though, it has to work!!!!!!!!

Yeah I blew my dad away when I told him my weight. We have always been around the same weight, whether I gain or lose he seems to do the same at the same time. It's weird. Well now I am 11 pounds under him. My goal now is to be in a tight 14 by the time he comes to visit the end of april. I also want to be in the upper 170's. It's about 10 or so weeks away so If I just keep it up I think I can get there. Plus as the weather gets better I am sure hubby and I will be playing tennis alot since it is across the street now.

Hello

Hello everbody!
Katen don't be to discouraged! I had some jeans that were to tight to get into and it took 6 weeks for me! But i can wear them now! I started LC on Dec. 1 and lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks. Than I went off for about 2 weeks. Started back about 3 weeks ago. And lost 9 pounds. I have a hard time not binging on "grocery shopping weekend". We always have chocolate and chips in our house wich makes it hard. Plus with being sick I can't seem to stomach much for meat. Only pork And coffe.
Anyway I am still exercising twice a week, but more time (30min) on my treadmill. But, I will work back up to 4x when we are not all so sick! (norwake virus )
Anyway, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! IF YOU FALL OFF THE WAGON, GET BACK ON!!!!!
