31 year old female--wants/needs to loose 70lbs--and then have children
This feels like a personal ad. I am a newbie who needs to loose at least 70lbs. My husband and I would like to start trying to have a family at the end of this year and I am determined to get healthy before then.
I have always been overweight. I can still remember being weighed in elementary school and praying with all my might that the nurse would not say my weight out loud to the person recording the numbers. Inevitable she always would and I was always the heaviest person in the class. After college, in Grad school, I worked really hard and I lost 50lbs, excercised regularly and never felt better. After leaving school and moving back to NJ I was out of my routine and got lazy....and you guessed it, gained the weight back and then some. Fast forward a few years.....I did Atkins and lost 40lbs. That's when I met my husband and the cycle began again. He is latin and loves rice. (would have rice with pasta if I let him) ...Atkins didn't work in our relationship. Yet again I gained it back and then some. Before our wedding I took a little of it off....I felt good that day. That was a year ago---I now weight the mosty I have ever weighed in my entire life and I am sick of this. We want to start a family soon and I want to be healthy. (before induction I was 250 and now am 237.5) I am committeed to taking care of myself, both in terms of food and excercise. I go to curves (but sometimes work too late to make it there) and my husband and I bought a new treadmill today so we can excercise at home. (we are doing low carbs together) I have a sarcastic sense of humor, love to go dancing, have been playing scrabble a lot lately and am supportive. I would like a pen pal who can share the challenges and successes of this journey with me. As I write this I can see us being super successful together and meeting on Oprah in a year--what do you say? If your intereseted and have a similar situation/challenges as me please let me know. Thanks! Christine |

You are funny. See I was thinking since we would look so good that Oprah would be begging to be on our show as a guest. And maybe Dr. Phil would even send us some referals. hehehe..... Course Montel would probably be jealous and fight to have us on his show too. Boy I can see life getting busy.....
Anyway, just thought I would say hi. I have that sacrastic kind of humor also, not really a good quality when disagreeing with the hubby though. I have 71 pounds left to go and am determined to lose it before I get pregnant again. I have one little girl of 21 months. I have been pregnant 3 times, each time when I was on a diet kick. We only had one but each time it threw me off my track. This time I am determined to make it before I get pregnant again. I would really like to get close to my goal and get pregnant in august or september to have a spring baby. So I have just enough time to get there. But I am making this a way of life so I plan to stay on it even if pregnancy happens later. Oh and I love scrabble. Maybe we could find an internet version to email back and forth. I used to play that through email so I know one exists. Nice to meet you. Hope to talk to you again and welcome aboard.

christine and christa
I hope you will consider 1 more to pen pal . I am also in need of losing weight before becoming pregnant - 50 lbs. Your comment about Oprah is what caught my attention tho - if I could meet anyone it would be her!! I was married in April, went off the Pill in August, and proceeded to gain 20 lbs. by not exercising and eating anything and everything. I am sure there is emotional eating in there somewhere I am 35 and I need to eat healthy for the long term - not just for losing weight. My husband is only slightly overweight - he is willing to eat salads with me, but probably won't give up the bread. I was on Atkins at one time - 4 years ago - and lost 40 lbs +. Gained it back because of the usual - didn't change the way I thought about food for the LONG TERM. I went back to pizza and pasta.I need a penpal for encouragement and to vent about life's problems once in a while. I work full time +, and I enjoy reading, gardening, and the beach. I thought the scrabble idea was good, too! Barb |

Yeah I forgot to look up the scrabble. I will have to get on that. It has to be somewhere online. I used to play it with friends. It was a great, you just take your turn and hit send and it sends it to the next person in line.
Well it's great to have you start atkins. I am loving it so far and find it very easy. I have no cravings for anything. I have dreams though that I am eating banana's... LOL I Don't even like bananas. But the thought of cheating is the nightmare. I am so apt to make my 100 plus days of induction. I am a tenth of the way there. Anyway glad to say hi barb, talk to you later. |

hey kbear i have played literati also. I found a decent email scrabble if anyone is interested. Me an my hubby are trying it out now, we always check our emails seperately so we have been playing back anf forth to see how it works. It looks cheap but seems to work great for a good game of email scrabble. If anyone is interested I just need your emails you use most frequently and I can set it up for us to play. Let me know.
Hey christinelou, Haven't heard from you, how are you doing. Is everything ok. Hope to hear from you soon and can play scrabble with us. Cayman you in for scrabble? |

Hi Christine!
I know what you mean about your husband spending hours on the computer! Mine does the exact same thing! He buys whatever gizmo he thinks he wants and plays and plays with it then on to something else. spends hours on end playing around with them. He comes home from work around 2:00pm and gets on the computer right away. Gets off long enough for supper and goes back on. Tonite though he says he is coming home and just relaxing and not getting on the computer. We will see if he does that or not. Looking forward to playing scrabble with everyone! I used to play with family thru email and it was fun. Talk to you all later!

I actually like communicating here. It makes it easier to keep in touch with all of you. Like a group. I am waiting for caymans final approval of scrabble and then I will set it up. You basically get it in your email, then take your turn and hit send. It then goes to the next person's turn. Simple. Glad to hear from you christine. I know exactly what you mean about computer gadgets. My hubby is an online gamer and gets all the voice and controller gadgets. His only friends are online, sad huh? But hey when ever we move he takes them with us. LOL....
Anyway gotta go, Talk to you later. |

I agree, I think that this thread may get too long. And as we chat more/support one another....I may not want to post all my trials and tribulations on the board but rather jsut share them between us.
I have an email group set up in my hotmail for a group of friends from college and it works well for us to keep in touch. I just hit "reply all" and it keeps everyone in the loop. Would you guys be comforatble using personl email accounts rather than this board? |

cayman- go to my controls, edit profile, and in the signature area type in "" type all that in the signature without the quotes though. That will bring up the picture I have. Hope that helps.

Ok forget it. I quit trying to figure out the cookie thing. I couldn't play thru my email so I went to the actual scrabble bug website and logged in there and played my turn through there. So now its the other Christine's turn.
Have a great day everyone! |

Well you all played really good. Congrats. We officially have a game going. I will ask hubby about the cookies. Glad you still could play. Sorry I wasn't online yesterday. My hubby and I started playing tennis yesterday and I was so sore. Glad though that he is going to help me get in shape. I really enjoyed playing with him. I never knew he played tennis. Then it was off to a movie with a friend and then a bible study in the evening. Busy Busy... You all did great on the scrabble. Too cool.
