Looking for a weight loss pal - Atkins induction on onwards
I have had enough of going through ALL of my clothes just to find something comfortable to spend the day in. Every morning the same miserable ritual. I am finished with not wanting to go out to special evenings because I don't want to be the fat blob in the corner, and because I can't find anything to wear anyway. I am so tired of binging until I think I will burst because tomorrow is my first day of a diet. I am carrying at least 25% extra body weight and it tells in everything I do every day. Excess weight now affects my work, my relationship and every other aspect of my life and it is time to change.
The intention is to start Atkins induction in 2 days time (Monday) and stick rigidly to it for two weeks and then go forward. I want to loose 28 pounds by March 1st. This might be a bit too much to ask with only eight weeks, but I am an optimist. I have a holiday in March and don't want to swim in T shirt and shorts which is what I am doing now. Unortunately everyone else on the holiday is actually underweight which makes me look even bigger than I really am, but that is OK. When I reach my goal weight I intend to treat myself to something special (haven't decided what yet). .... anyway, i need someone to support me through this new mission and low carb friends looks like the right place to find someone. I am a senior exec in the marine industry, 47 years old, with lots of interests including sailing, kayaking and the arts. I am married to my job a little too much and spend a lot of time travelling (the travel at the heart of most of my weight probs). I am a real shorty at under 5 feet so I don't have that many actual pounds to loose, but relatively speaking it is a mammoth task for me. I haven't done any regular exercise for a long time (kayaking and sailing don't count) and as such can't even jog to my letterbox anymore. This has to be about exercise as well as diet for me. If you would like to communicate on a daily basis (within reason) and listen to my ramblings as I will yours and give me a firm kick when I need one and expect one in return, then let me know. Lets not forget the celebration when we shed the pounds. Looking forward to hearing from you whoever you are. cheers from downunder The Fat Pigeon ![]() |

Hey Pigeon!
I, too, am looking for a pen pal to share motivation, exercise tips, recipes, and whatever else; however, I am looking for a pen pal via email. I have a young son (he'll be 15 months at the end of the month) who won't let me post on a computer throughout the day. I do have a blackberry so it's very easy for me to email. Anyway, here's my story... I'm 29 years old, 5'9", and currently 165 lbs. I'd like to lose 30-40 lbs. I was 125 lbs when I met my husband and his children. They are boy, 12, and girl, 9, and they live with us and call me mom. I'm a stay at home mother. I gained 27 lbs after meeting my husband and his kids and another 32 lbs during my pregnancy. I lost 20 lbs but still have the rest to lose. I feel frumpy and unsexy, always wearing the same 10 or so items of clothing because I refuse to buy a bigger wardrobe. I have tons of my cute smaller clothing sitting in my closet that I'd like to wear again. I also have hundreds of dollars of accumulated gift cards to my favorite clothing stores that I haven't used due to not wanting to buy a bigger wardrobe or knowing that these stores won't carry my bigger size. I'd really like to use these again some day soon. I think kayaking is very much a sport that involves exercise. I kayaked when I was around 12 weeks pregnant and I thought it was hard paddling upstream but I didn't stop or I knew I'd float back downriver and have to start all over again!! haha If I sound like someone you'd like to email as a pen pal, just reply here and we'll figure out how to get my email to you without breaking the "terms of agreement" on here. Oh FYI, I'm wanting to do the Atkins Induction as well. I've lost on it before and kept it off (for about 5 months) after transitioning to a normal way of eating (with major portion control) but gained it back after moving, starting a new career, meeting my husband, etc. Tara Last edited by SuburbanMom : 01-07-2008 at 08:15 AM. |

Hi Tara,
Since making that post I have been posting on another thread. There is only about four of us and it appears to be working. The thread is called "Newbie here looking for weight loss buddy." Please come and join us there. After anyone has made 25 posts and 25 days of membership that person can then post private messages where we can exchange details like email. It sounds like we have a similar amount to lose and a lot of similar issues. My gmail is the same as my membership here if you like. Cheers, thefatpigeon |
