Starting December 27th....Pen Pals Please!!

I'm ready to start the low-carb way of life and would love to have a pen pal or two to help me along the way.

I have 90lbs to lose and I'm hoping this is the last time that I ever have to say that

If anyone has ever given up a bad addiction to coffee at the same time as starting the low-carb eating would love some pointers on how to deal with that. Last time I gave up coffee I had three days of headaches...oh why did I ever start drinking it again

Hope to hear from someone soon... Mishy

BC is a beautiful area you live in. I visited there last april and went to the butchart gardens. Awesome Place.

Well I have 75 pounds left to lose so I hear ya. This is my last time I tell myself. This is it. Had enough of being over weight. So this time I am really going to get there.

You can be my buddy if you want too. I am not sure about your coffee situation. I have never been addicted to anything. Just bear through the 3 days and don't do it again. hehehe.....

Hi Mishy!

I don't know if this will help you but ...I took L-Glutamic Acid 500 mg to help kick the habit of drinking coke. I also had the bad headaches for days, I believe this was supposed to help with getting off of sugar but there were no headaches so I didn't complain. Once I got thru the first 2-3 days of the program and off of cafeine, I really couldn't tell a difference in energy etc.

Hope this helps you,

Zany

Good luck on your new way of life, it works!

caffein addiction

Hello Mishy,

I started the diet about five months ago not long after I turned 39. I decided I just am NOT going to be "fat and 40"! Plus my oldest son will graduate this year and I want him to be proud when he looks into the stands and sees Momma standing there!

I was addicted to caffeine too, I've found that the reason for the "no caffeine" rule with Atkins Induction is because it tends to drop your blood sugar too fast and can make you feel run down. But I also found that by using caffeine I get into Ketosis alot faster, which is exactly what you're looking to do! Right?!? My best advice is experiment with this diet, as with all diets, it works differently for everyone. The cool thing is, IT WORKS! I've tried them all! This is the first that really worked for me. It worked so fast I had what I called "Shar Pei thighs"!! hahaha

If I can offer one great hint, buy the ketostrips! I found that I LIVE to turn that strip purple, which keeps me going on the diet!

I found a new boyfriend after dropping 27 pounds, (the self esteem is incredible!) but unfortunately all he wanted to do is go out and EAT! So I went off the diet for about three months, but have since broken it off with him and am starting over again today. I didn't gain any back though! whew!

I'd love to be pen pals with anyone who wants to write! my email addy is mylovly@yahoo.com and my nick on yahoo is mylovly. I've been successful with Atkins and this time it's "Diet till it's done" time for me! My New Year slogan is "It's gonna happen for me in 2003"!!

Good Luck all!!

d'cai

So nice....

To have so much support, so quickly!! I started on the 27th as planned and the only problem so far is I never really feel like eating. All of a sudden I'll start feeling dizzy and shaky and realize I need to eat something. I've had no cravings at all Usually by this time on any other diet I'm drooling over some form of chocolate and it stays that way till I give in.

It was so funny the first day, my mom and I started together, and we couldnt figure out how it is possible to drink 8 glasses of water a day. We realized on day two (after floating through the night) that we had been using 16oz glasses and counting them as one! It's so much easier to get the water down now

I can actually see making it this time. I'm so glad to have found this site!

Good luck to you all

Well what can I say but good luck to all of you. I have been on the Atkins for well over a year now and just wish I had found thisa WOL along time ago. It would have stopped all those years of anguish and torment. Top tip is to have in the cupboard plenty of what you can eat just in case. You never know when that nasty carb monster will come a lurking. I have another 80lbs to go and am hoping to do this by the summer. Fingers crossed I can. A tall order I know but having success fully lost 84lbs to date I know I will get there.

Thanks for the encouragement Pooh. I think you'll do great. Just be determined to make it. Give yourself an incentive. My Idea for a great incentive is to go to walmart, pick out a pair of jeans that you can barely get up over your rump let alone zip. Then buy them and every week try them on until they fit real good, Then go do it again. That's just one way to see your weight loss in inches instead of pounds. Anyway that's my tip for the day.

talk to you later
