Determined on a new way of life come 2003

Hello everyone
Hope LCing is going well for you all...and that you've nearly done all your Christmas shopping!
I did Atkins for a week, then fell off the wagon (I'd lost 3lbs) one drunken evening and haven't started again. I know the holidays are going to be too difficult too resist, so I'm allowing myself to eat whatever I want until Jan 1st...oddly enough, this isn't making me pig out like I thought it would, which is good!
I'm 27, live in London with my boyfriend of 5 years, work full time and was actually diagnosed with bipolar in March. That's what's caused me to put on over 45lbs in one year - medication! Argh! Imagine what that does for your self confidence!
...I have about 45lbs to lose and am finding it impossible to stick to any eating plan. My willpower is cr*p and I need a pen pal who will be tough on me!
I'm also starting the gym in January. I've already signed up and have just spent money on new gym gear for myself - the problem is, I have dodgy knees so any running or fast walking is out of the question for me - however, I shan't let this put me off!
I can be forceful and motivational when I have other people to 'spark' off - so it would be wonderful to hear from anyone who feels like we could help each other/become LCing buddies.
Let's raise an imaginary glass to a slimmer, healthier, happier 2003 - c'mon guys and gals - who's gonna join me?!

Holiday struggles

Holiday struggles have begun to get me down. I have lost about 20 lbs. I was doing amazingly well! Now I am falling off the wagon more everyday; there is just too much temptation this time of year!

My intent is to also get back on and ride it all the way after the first of the year. I was also exercising 3-5 x wk. Now I'm crazy busy, sicker than a dog and haven't sweated it out for almost 3 weeks!

My mom lives in Florida. I will be going down to see her in the spring and fully intend to absolutely shock her when she sees me. That is my next motivation/goal. But I need help to get back on track.

Merry Christmas!

Hi there,

I am in the same boat as you...I started Atkins, gave it a go for just over a week, lost about 4 pounds and then decided, to give it my full effort, I would start on January 1 and keep going until I lost the weight I want to lose. Rather than starting the diet and feeling disappointed because of all the parties I am going to and Christmas lunch etc..I know that it would be a miracle to avoid any carbs, so opted to put it on hold until January 1st.

I would love to have a pen pal that I could motivate and also seek motivation from. I'm in! Send me your email address.

I am an Australian girl, 26 yrs old, living in Canada. I am excited about starting in January...and really feeling challenged to lose the weight that I have slowly put on over the years and have trouble shifting. I have never been on Atkins before (other than the week and a half stint)...and believe it could be what finally shifts the excess weight I am carrying.

ARE YOU READY for January 1!!!!!??? I sure am...send me your email and we can start off this thing together (and continue of course, until we have both lost the weight we want to lose and are at our goal!).

Karyn

Hi there Karyn! Yeah!!!

Hi there Karyn
Yep - it looks like we're in the same boat!
Let's do this thing together, starting from Jan 1st. Total fierce commitment!
My email is emarks@hitentertainment.com (work)
It'll be great to have someone to do this with - esp. because it looks like we're in the same boat.
What are your particular weaknesses in terms of food? I'm a huge fan of potatoes - esp. chips and pizza - I normally have pizza at least once a week...
Are you planning on doing any exercise? If so, what sort?
...and tell me how an Aussie ended up living in Canada?!!
Are you single or seeing someone?!
Let's hear all about you!

Til I hear from you - have a wonderful Christmas - I hope to hear from you soon!
Emma
