Fabulous 40's #15
Hi, great news today!! The baby went to the Drs today and doesn't have cystic fibrosis!! She also came off her 2 stomach meds that she had to have every day. She no longer needs to have the extra oil in her bottles to fatten her up (that she needed this past month)....Merry Christmas to us!! I am still teetering on my "magic" number, but I am pleased with no gain being in the middle of the holidays. DH is losing very well...almost 10 lbs in the past 2 weeks! Missed seeing you all posting, you must be very busy. Have a great week ladies...I know I will!!!

Hello, hello!
Diane - What a wonderful gift of good news! And 2 lbs. down as well! Hip hip hooray! Mom left on Monday and I've been just as busy! Don't know if it was all the extra goings-on, but I was down 2 lbs., too. Unfortunately, I celebrated with Krispy Kreme and gained one back! There is just too much temptation around me! I'm trying hard to stick to the plan and indulge in treats only rarely and in small amounts. It didn't help that my neighbor brought over a big plate of homemade candies today. Girls, these are trying times! Baked the last of the cookies today. I'll make up gift plates and deliver them next week. DH wants some in the freezer so that he can bring some to the Denver office after the holidays. While Mom was here we shopped, went to a casino, baked, decorated, lunched, and just enjoyed being together. I was glad she was here to see both my boys' concerts. Tomorrow is wrapping day since my boys will still be in school and DH is out of town. Then I can relax and enjoy the weeks ahead with only the holiday dinners/cooking to worry about. Hope everyone is hanging in there and taking some time to enjoy this blessed season. Catch ya later! ![]() |

HI all! I see everyone has been busy too!
Diane- Im so happy all is good with your grandbaby! What great news! Congrats too on losing 2 more pounds! Yahoo! I wish my scale would budge! Still at a stall, 4 weeks now! Acck! I hope Santa is good to me too! LOL Mariooch- I bet it was hard to see your Mom leave. It sounds like you had a great time with her while she was there! I'm happy for you! Congrats too on your loss! Yes, this is a trying time of year with all the goodies around. I need to get all the gifts for my kids wrapped too while their in school. I have a feeling the next 2 weeks while their home on vacation is going to be long! LOL There good kids, but fight like cats and dogs! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my wonderful low carb friends! You have all helped me get through this weight loss journey! Thank you! Hugs to everyone, Rita ![]() |

Good Morning! Anyone here?
I'm enjoying this quiet morning, dreading taking my boys shopping this afternoon once school is out! I know it will be crowded, but better than taking them over the weekend when I know it will be nuts! They need to get a couple things for dad. Charity - Hope you're not wiped out by your job and will soon be able to check in. Rita - I think we've all been at a stall. It just takes patience, I think. I hadn't lost in awhile, but never even thought of it as a stall until it was mentioned. Just don't do like I did and regain that stall-breaking loss! (I could just kick myself!) Now that all the wrapping & baking is done, I can relax and enjoy! It doesn't help, though, when our pastor puts a lengthy note in the bulletin about enjoying the once-a-year treats of the season! I'll enjoy, but in limited amounts! |

happy holidays
Hi all my low carb friends, wanted to take the time and wish everyone Happy Holidays, I 've had a bad week. My daughter in law started her own desert business and sent me a can of home made cookies so of course, had to have just one. Well the sugar did that evil thing and had another. But I'll get back on tomorrow at least I'm still drinking my water. DH has lost 28lbs and is as happy as a teenager. To everyone God bless and has a safe and happy holiday.

finally I think the stall from h@ll has broken...after 4 long months I am down 5 pounds so far this week!! DH is down 12 1/2 in the past 2 weeks and has gone down another pant size. We "tweaked" our plan a bit and started counting points, but staying away from sugar/flour/bread/etc. and that seems to be working. We finished our Christmas shopping Friday (we had Thursday and Friday off) and also did some low carb baking. We made the zucchini bread, the chocolate chunk cookies, the peppermint patties and the sugar cookies (his brother and SO are low carbers too), so we're ready for the holidays. I visited the recipes suggestion board last night for the first time in months and found lots of nice recipes. Poor Charity must be out straight at Walmart...I really miss her posts. I only have 2 work days this week and next (finishing up vacation time I had saved for the grandbabies who couldn't make it, but still glad I took it), so I'm sure I'll be checking in again. I hope everyone has a nice holiday...

HI all! Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
It's been a mad house here with my 2 kids on Christmas vacation for 2 weeks! Accck! LOL We had a very nice Chirstmas. Some good friends of ours invited the kids and I over for dinner. I received a video message from my DH today from overseas. He looks very tired. It was great to see him, but of course he and I got all teary eyed. One month down, 2 to go! Yippeee! The kids and I are getting along fine. Ricks wife- Congrats on breaking your stall! I'm jealous! I've been at a stand still for over a month now. How did you break it? I want details! hehe Mariooch- You sounded so busy with all your baking and wrapping! I bet your happy that is all behind you now! TxCharity- I hope all is well with you! We miss your posts! sbee-don't sweat the small stuff! Just get back on track and you will be just fine! Hugs to all my low carb friends. Wishing you all a Happy New Year! Rita ![]() |

Low Carb I actually had to start following the Weight Watcher points, but I am sticking with the low carb foods....It helps me track calories, eat more veggies, etc...Even when I kept track of the number of carbs I was at a stall (I think we didn't have the right amount of fat/protein/etc. or too many calories), so I decided to try this. I am not hungry because I am still eating my full fat things, etc that satisfy me. I think the biggest thing is I am eating more veggies like I should be. DH is doing it with me and is very happy doing it this way. He has lost about 12 1/2 lbs in the past few weeks and I have lost 5. We had a little Christmas hiccup so we are both up 2 lbs, but are working hard to get that back off. I honestly think we will make goal in 2003....something I never believed would happen. Back to work...Glad you checked in, I missed ya!

Hello Girls!
It's a beautiful sunny day here in AZ! I went to the citrus stand and bought some great oranges from the wonderful woman there that sells them. The citrus groves are diminishing here and that's sad to see. I like the idea of buying direct and supporting the local growers, plus the fruit is so much better. Rita - How great it must have been to see dh's video! It's a wonderful thing to have all these electronic miracles vs. the time when men went off to war and there were only letters to rely on while the men were gone for a couple years at a time. Diane - Glad you're having success on WW! And, that you were able to check in as well! I had a very nice, relaxing Christmas and am enjoying the break having dh home along with my boys. DH & I finally got to see the movie Frida! It was excellent and dh surprised me by getting the biography it was based on for a Xmas gift. Hope to get in a couple more movies before the break is over. I wasn't going to mention this, but I got an email from Walgreens a week ago. I had applied for a pharmacy tech position a couple months ago, but never heard back, so I was thrilled to get the email. Well, I've been having a hard time reaching this person ever since! I leave voice mails & emails, but with no success. I was trying not to get too excited, but was eager to interview. Now I'm feeling more discouraged. I'm hoping that it's just the holiday weeks that's keeping us from connecting. The cookies have been winning the last couple nights, so I've got to be good from now on! New Year's Eve will be our traditional fondue feast, so that will be a bad night. Actually, it's all whole, healthy foods, so not too bad. Anyone doing anything special that night? We'll be home "fonduing" and watching movies. If I don't check in before, Happy New Year, my fabulous friends! ![]() |

HI to all my great low carb friends!!!!
Mariooch- Yes, I do feel blessed that technology allows me to email, talk on the phone, and see a video of DH. My Mother told me that when my Dad was in the Korean War, all she had were letters that came few and far between because of the US "snail" mail. So, I do feel very lucky! Good luck with the job at Walgreens too! I think your right and that you will hear from them after the holidays! My fingers are crossed for you!Diane- thanks for the tips about WW. Now I will have to find out the points different food are and how to do it! Is there a book I could buy? We don't have any New Years Eve plans, and never really had any yearly traditions. Mariooch, your fondue dinner sounds yummy! I haven't done fondue in ages, but love it!!! If you stick to meat and veggies in oil or cheese you will do just fine! Wishing you all a Happy New Year!!!! Feels like forever...
since I've posted. We got a very liberal leave policy over the holidays so I took advantage and have been on vacation for what seems like forever! Back to work tomorrow.
Can't believe for the first time in 30 years I actually lost weight during this time of the year. Not an incredible amount, but if you consider the fact that I went on a carb bender for a week or so and went up several pounds, those are all gone plus 1. I have to reconsider my goals, but I'm feeling pretty good right now. Sounds like I wasn't alone...except for the awe inspiring TX Charity, looks like we all indulged a little. So, it's back on track and back to giving and receiving support from all of you...good luck and let's keep on track! Cindy

Happy New Year!
Cindy - Good to hear from you, and "way to go" on making it through the holidays! Well, I had my interview today with Walgreens and sure enough, it was not with the right person! I was suspicious since I had to make a long drive to this person's office, but thought she just had a big territory. Wrong, somehow my name made it out of the lost in space file and to her desk. So, she did the screening interview and will pass my application on the the correct district coordinator. Of course, all this is pointless if there are no open positions. I think I am cursed. So far, I too, have made it successfully through the holidays. It was last year's holidays that did me in and sent me on a downward spiral. I'm determined to get this year off to a good start and continue with my progress, even if it's slow! Hope everyone had a joyous New Year's and is ready to make 2003 a Fabulous year for losing weight! |

HI all!
Cindy- so glad to see you back! Congrats on losing at this time of year! That is a big accomplishment! Be proud of yourself! Mariooch- so sorry to hear that the Walgreens job didn't pan out. You will have good luck soon, hang in there! Congrats to you too for staying on track during the holidays!I'm just happy I didn't gain over the holidays, but frustrated to be still at a stall. I wish I knew a way to "kick start" me back to losing weight. I did make a big batch of this cabbage tomato soup that has helped me lose weight before. It's low carb and tastes delicious and is also a great way to get my veggies in, since I'm not a big veggie eater. Wish me luck! Hugs to all my low carb friends, Rita ![]() |

Hey Girls!
Can't believe the weather we've been having here - about 10 degrees warmer than normal! Since we have plenty of heat in the summer, I'd like the winter to be a little chillier! Rita - Here's hoping the soup does the trick for you! Just hang in there and do the plan. Maybe the soup will be the change you need. Now that the holidays have past, I'm hoping to be true to my plan and get back to losing. I was at a stall before the holidays, for what seemed like a really long time, and then one day I was 2 lbs. lighter, so I think it just takes patience & diligence. We'll have to do the stall-breaking dance under the moonlight! Hope everyone is heading towards a great weekend! Have fun! |
