New and would like a buddy

I started low carb last memorial day and lost 58 pounds. Over the past 3 months life has happened and I have been slipping back into old habbits. Today I am back on the wagon! I need to loose 40 pounds.

Would anyone be interested in being my buddy?

New Too.

Hey, I posted a "need a buddy" and no one answered....then I saw yours.

Are you still around? Nice to meetcha if you are. I started low carbing for the first time April 1st. I weigh 215 and the moment, have lost 25 pounds over the past two months. Dramatic drop, I know. But it's slowed down A LOT over the past few weeks. I lost weight in the past counting calories and exercising, but was unable to keep it off.

How about you? What made ya want to get back on the bandwagon?

I am still around. I decided to get back on lc because I am a single mom and I would like to date again. However, I need to loose the last 37 pounds. I am a teacher and summer has begun and I have time to focus on myself and exercise. The key for me is activity! I will have to find my "before" picture and post it. The one of me on here is about a month ago and I have lost about 7 pounds since then.

It's been quite some time since I dated but I know it's a lot more fun when you are slim. Losing the weight helps you gain confidence and you feel good about yourself. And when you feel good about yourself, men can't resist you

37 pounds...if I lost 40 pounds that'd put me at 175 and I know from experience 175 will get me into clothes that don't come from the Women's department. I've been thinking about a mini-goal and I think 175 will be it!

I weighed in at 214.5 this morning.

Yesterday's Menu-
B-Special K low carb protein cereal (dry, I like it that way, very crunchy and satisfying), coffee (1 tsp instant coffee, 1/2 tsp powdered cocoa, 1/2 tsp splenda, dash of davinci hazelnut, spray of whipped cream, no sugar)

L- 2 slices bacon, 1 egg and 5 blackberries (they are growing wild everywhere around my house)

S- a few almonds

D- Baked chicken strips (rolled in soy flour and parm cheese, then baked at 450 for 30 minutes), stir fry veggies outa the garden (squash, zucchini, red carrots, onions and long horn peppers in a tad of butter, after cooking splash a tsp of lime juice in the pan.)

S- carb smart ice cream bar (I am eating WAY too many of these)

Sorry to write a BOOK ....hope you have a good weekend!

I weighed this morning and I was up 2 pounds. However, I did not drink water this weekend like I should. I was able to still get into my size 14 (started at a 22/24) with some room to spare so hopefully it was just some water gain!

I can't buy the carb smart ice cream bars....I eat the whole box in one day! Then I am sick all night from them.

Starting tomorrow I will start walking in the mornings and then I will work out at the gym in the evenings. I don't get to walk in the mornings when school is in session but can during the summer. Hopefully I won't roll over and turn off the alarm tomorrow morning!

I have not dated in forever! I have been divorced for 7 years and gone on a date here and a date there. I am really interested in this man that a friend set me up with but life has happened and we both were busy but we have kept in contact. So we are discussing getting together again soon. (when his contract is over at work) We will see!

Have a great weekend!

Hello everyone!

I'm in the market for a few low carb weight loss buddies! Do you mind if I join in?

I've tried low carbing off and on during my life, and find that it's the perfect plan for me. I had joined LCF in the beginning of October 06, and by the end of the year, I had lost over 40 pounds. I was on top of the world feeling the best I have ever felt.

Then.... my daughter made some Christmas cookies.

Ever since then (yes, it has been over 5 months), I haven't been able to get back on plan. Help! I've gained back 22 pounds. Yikes!

Thanks in advance for your support! I'm 48 years old and married for 26 years. I have two kids...my daughter (21) just moved into her own apartment this past weekend, and my son (22) is moving to Washington DC at the end of August.

The more the merrier, Cheryl.

I am 41 and have 2 girls, 13 and 10. Like I said, I have been divorced for 7 years. I gained my weight when I went into a depression after my divorce. Last memorial day I started LC and exercise and I was down to 165 but went back to 177 since March. I moved to a new house and blah blah blah...you all know how it goes!

I am ready to get it off!! I went and bought my first swim suit that was not a 3X today! I was able to get an XL. I am proud of that even though it is an XL....they seem to run smaller than regular clothes. I can not even believe I am even considering going out in it!

Anyway.....welcom Cheryl!

May I join you ladies?

Hi,

I've been doing LC on and off for some years. Like KirbyTris, it's what works best for me. I think if it weren't for LC I would be gaining weight by the minute.

I'm a teacher, 38 have two beautiful girls ( 13 and 9 ). Restarted Atkins May 27th. Summer is here and I can take care of myself. The last few weeks were very stressful at school and we had all sorts of "goodies" to eat in the teacher's lounge... couldn't pass all the brownies, cookies, tamales, etc.

I enjoy the menu posted by catwings. I am not a cook and I usually get bored eating the same tuna salad over and over again. I like getting ideas.

Thanks for listening

Come on and join us LittleBit!

Our lounge was filled with goodies also the last 2 weeks of school. I also don't cook!

LC is the only thing that works for me too, and I have tried EVERYTHING!

Hi ladies... Glad to meet ya. I'm 44, married, no kids (but I DO like them ) and I own/operate a bookstore in North Florida. I've been fighting my weight all my life and have intended to start a new way of eating for about a year now. April 1st I couldn't stand it any longer and started low carb for the first time. I absolutely love it. I love to cook but was really getting bored with the same ole things my husband and I were eating. The new WOE has allowed me to broaden my horizons in the kitchen. I've found I eat a lot more veggies than I used to. Prior to April I ate meat and processed carbs. Now I'm eating meat and limited high fiber carbs and veggies. The no sugar thing was a shock to my system but after the first two weeks I looked back and was aghast at the amount of sugar I was taking in.

Glad you enjoyed the menu....todays was-
B -coffee w/ cocoa and whipped cream and a scrambled egg (fresh from our hens)
L/D- Sunday, we eat lunch/dinner at 4:00 - beef enchiladas made with whole wheat low carb tortillas...didn't have any hamburger meat so I ended up cooking a chuck steak and shredding it....turned out really good.

Evening snack - gonna split a leftover enchilada with my husband and then make koolaide w/ splenda snow cones in the blender.

Gonna try not to get into the carb smart ice cream bars tonight....*crossing my fingers*

Hey LittleBit, Laph, and other ladies,

I'm fairly new to this site. Have been lowcarbing since early Jan. Noticed that LittleBit and Laph are teachers. I taught for 21 years and am now a school counselor. We are doing end of year testing and that is major stress for counselors. Yes, I broke over this week with goodies at school. I am on another thread w/ Mom of three, but noticed the educators on here and wanted to join in and say hi. Room for one more?

Welcome to everyone!

I did not get up and walk this moring. However, I will go to the gym this evening when my kids are there.

I weighed this morning and was down the 2 pounds I was up yesterday. I guess it was water because I drank a lot of water yesterday! However, I do feel puffy this morning.

What are koolaide snow cones? I would like that! My kids would too. How do you make them?

Everyone have a good day.

I will go check out the other threads after another cup of coffee.....the one thing I can't give up!

Good morning all!

Not great morning for me.

I have been exercising ( 45 minutes ) eating right (something like this)
B: cheese and cucumbers or egg and cucumbers
L: chicken and avocado
D: cheese and radishes or jicama

Ketosis: medium or large

And I am up one pound… I have been doing this for the past 4 days and have stayed around the same weight.

Going grocery shopping and to the dentist … Be back later!

Hello everyone!

What a great way to start off the morning...I'm sitting here enjoying a great cup of coffee (I love my coffee, too, LouAnn) and reading all these great posts. I'm so glad I found some weight loss buddies to share this low carb way of life. I'm not a teacher, but I do work in a college as a secretary.

For breakfast this morning, I had a protein shake. I packed a container of some leftover pork and onions, and I filled a small baggie with some cut up veggies. I plan on stopping at the gym on my way home. Dinner will be more pork and some streamed broccoli and cauliflower.

Then comes my DANGER time. The most difficult time of the day for me is after dinner. I always do so well during the day, and I blow it at night. I plan on concentrating on drinking more water today. I'll especially do it tonight to fight off the binging monster that appears every evening.

LouAnn: You have done a tremendous job. Going from a 3X to an XL is amazing!

Polly: I'd love to hear about the Kool-Aid with splenda snowcones. My favorite thing to drink is Kool-Aid sweetened with Splenda. I found that I can only eat/drink things with Splenda. Other artificial sweeteners give me cravings. I love the Quickpacks (I think that is what they are called) from Splenda. They are equivalent to a cup of sugar. They are normally over $3.00 at the stores in my area (Pittsburgh, PA), but I found them on sale the other day for only $1.50, and I bought a ton of them.

I also enjoy reading your menu's, Polly. If someone asked me what was my secret to success with low carb in the past, it would be being creative with cooking. There's lots of great recipes here at Low Carb Friends.

Have a great day, everyone, and I wish you lots of success!

Cheryl

kool aid snow cones - I take a pack of kool aid, usually black cherry because that's my fav, and I mix it with a pint of water and 3-4 tablespoons of splenda. It doesn't quite make a syrup but I really don't like a real sweet taste. You can put more splenda if you do. I throw a bunch of ice in the blender and chop it up fine, food processor works good too. Then I put the ice in cups and pour the syrup over it. Also, you can add the syrup to the ice in the blender and just make an icee.

A bunch of teachers...yikes, I better not act up or else!

Cheryl, my danger time is at night too. I do fine during the day at work and even at dinner. But after dinner my brain starts in..."get up and eat, get up and eat." It's plumb scary sometimes. And the strange thing about it is, at the time it's happening, I'm probably fuller than I've been all day. I wonder what causes this? I've been off sugar and carbs for 6 weeks, and it'll even happen after a day with ZERO carbs. Habit maybe.

Today's menu
B - 3 slices of bacon and a handful of special K protein cereal (blue box)
L- Beef Hash with onions and peppers(made sunday before last and put in the freezer in little containers), salad with olive oil and vinegar
S- handful of pork skins (these things are WAY too salty for me, I wonder if they make any without salt?)

D- Gonna grill a steak (Winn-Dixie had ribeyes for $5.99 a pound!) and cook some fresh squash and zucchini outa the garden. I like to stir fry it in a little butter, then sprinkle some parm cheese on top and stick it under the broiler.

Tonight, after supper, I have to bake a sour cream pound cake for my Mother...she asked me, and I didn't want to tell her no, but I have feeling that baby will be calling my name, especially when it comes to bowl licking time. I'll post tonight while it's in the oven and tell ya whether I did, or didn't!

My hard time is afternoon when I get home from work. That is why I tend to do better during the summer. When I get home I am not even hungry. I don't know why I eat at that time!

I had an Atkins shake for breakfast, a side ceasar salad from Quizo's and 28 almonds. I am getting ready to go work out and then for dinner I am planning a salad with baked chicken shredded on top with ranch dressing.

I have had my water today and I have done well. However, I have also been sitting at the orthopedic dr. as my youngest broke her foot yesterday and had to get a cast on today. There was nothing to cheat with there!!

Tomorrow I have to go to a writing inservice so I will pack my bag of goodies so I won't cheat. I do give myself one day a week to have what I want. Then I don't feel deprived. I usually like to save that day for a weekend day but since it is summer and all days are like weekend days who knows!

Off to work out! I might run to the store and get some kool aide!

I've never tried an Atkins Shake....that's on my list of things to try.

FYI, the cake I mentioned earlier is in the oven. I got the bowl in the sink and the water running in it before I took a swipe at it.

Hope your work out was good LouAnn!

Great job, Polly, with avoiding the batter!

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's foot, LouAnn.

I'm very happy to report that I had a GREAT day yesterday. It feels SO GOOD to be back on plan! Eating was great (I kept in control last night), I got in a lot of water, and I had a great workout (30 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes weights).

Here's what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: Vanilla Protein shake

Lunch: Leftover pork and onions in gravy made with heavy creme; bag of cutted up veggies

Dinner: Barbecue chicken (low carb sauce); broccoli and cauliflower

Evening snack: almonds (I sort of ate too many. I ate right from the container. Next time, I'll portion some out before I start eating them.

Water: 12 cups

I'm surprised that I don't have a headache today. Usually, when I stop sugar, I get withdrawal headaches.

I'm going to have to make plans on making some Kool aid ice cones! They sound great! Especially since it's supposed to get hot again at the end of the week.

Have a great day everyone!

I got headaches when I first got off sugar. The worst day, when I really had something I had to concentrate on, I drank a couple of swallows of orange juice and it went away immediately.

I had a busy morning pre-work so I stopped by and got a Hardee's breakfast bowl on my way to work. This thing is monstrous. Good, but very fatty. I'm making it breakfast AND lunch with probably a little bit left over. Won't be an everyday thing but it's a back-up plan for when I don't have time to gather things to bring to work with me.

great job on the water Cheryl...I gotta step my water intake up too. I like and enjoy water, but sometimes I get bloated drinking so much.

Lots to do today!

I am tired and not feeling too good this evening so I am off to soak in the tub and veg on the couch!

Good morning ladies!

A new day and another chance to eat right for me! I blew it yesterday but I was feeling HORRIBLE! I feel much better today. I think I am pre-menopausal but it seems kind of early but yesterday I thought I was going to die.

Anyway....back on track today! I am tutoring this morning and then I need to tackle laundry! I will go work out this afternoon, but I should be doing that right now but.....no excuse, I couldn't get up!

I hope everyone has a great day! I also want to try the kool aide snow cones today! I guess I need to go buy a blender, somewhere during my move to my new house my blender vanished!

Take care!

I hope today is a better day for you LouAnn. I got into the peanut butter last night after dinner. My husband was home sick with a cold yesterday and he had a jar of peanut butter on his bedside table that didn't get taken downstairs earlier. After I had my carb smart ice cream bar, I grabbed the jar of peanut butter and used the popsicle stick from the ice cream to eat peanut butter out the jar. But luckily, the stick was little and I didn't have much! Gotta work on that nighttime habitual eating.

Was still at 214 this morning! The two weeks before this one I was fluctuating between 220 and 215. This week it's between 214 and 213 (yesterday was 213). I find my weight doesn't drop steadily pound by pound, but I do see that five pound window drop from 2 week period to 2 week period.

Will post todays menu after I get to work.

I'm curious...what did you cheat on yesterday?

What did I cheat on yesterday? Let's see.....animal crackers, 1 doughnut, the shell of the taco salad I ordered at lunch, 1/2 a frozen pizza at 9:30 last night. Now that I type it out it sounds really bad!

WOE: Low Carb...no sugar or starch
Good morning, Ladies!

I spoke too soon about not having a headache. Starting late yesterday afternoon, my head began to hurt and it hasn't stopped since. Even though it's bothersome, I really don't mind because it's a good feeling knowing that I'm getting off sugar and the headaches will soon subside. Last night, I felt awful. Instead of soothing myself with eating, I went to bed early.

Today is my 3rd day sticking to my low carb plan. I'm so excited that I've come this far. Hopefully, I'm on my way to weight loss again. I have about 50 more pounds that I would like to lose. How much do you all want to lose?

I hope you're feeling better today, LouAnn! I have to tackle laundry also. My washer has been down for the past few days. The repairman came yesterday, but it still wasn't working last night. He's coming again today, and I hope he can fix it.

I didn't get a chance to make snow cones, but I did make a pitcher of Kool Aid with a Splenda Quick Pack. I get tired of drinking too much water, and having the Kool Aid was a special treat last night. I wish I could drink ice-tea. Even decaf tea keeps me awake at night.

You are doing great with your weight loss, Polly! I started out on Monday weighing 216. Today the scale said 210. I get goosebumps thinking about getting below 200 pounds.

Have a great day everyone!

Cheryl
