Good Monday Morning All,
Sounds like everyone really did well this weekend. I have never heard of sanddab either!! But it sounds good. Well my quest for fish did not go as well.....We went to Port Aransas to fish off the pier Sunday and had no luck ,then on the way back stopped at the flats and fished and the crabs got the best of the bait. I told my husband we should be crabbing instead. We didn't bring the crab stuff with us and were too lazy to go back to the house 10 miles to get it so we just enjoyed the day losing our bait. I sure do like catching a whole lot better than fishing. LOL The answer to your ? Teresa is bay fishing will bring trout, red snapper, red drum, and black drum , hardhead and skipjack mostly. When you get into the gulf it is a whole different story, amberjack, ling, sheephead, shark, marlin, tarpoon (Port Aransas is known for it's great deep sea fishing). But I haven't fished out in the gulf in years. Too expensive...........
Yesterdays menu
B-Roast beef lettuce roll ups
coffee w/ cream
L-Summer sausage and provalone cheese
D-Ribeye w/ mushrooms and a salad

Todays Menu
not really sure yet, will let you know......
Now for the stats.........

All time high (2007)- 273
Start date June 18, '07 - 273
Last Monday - 265
Today - 264
Goal - 175 to start
Height - 5'7
Age - 50

So I did loose a pound!! I thought it would be better but I do feel a little looser in some of my shirts so that keeps me going, along with you guys!!

Hang in there Polly, onederland is creeping up fast!!
Corrisann you should be proud of yourself for doing well. You could have really indulged to the point of I don't care and you didn't!
Teresa your exercise and water is really working! I need to start but haven't yet, I guess I am too lazy!! I hope it will change...........

Till later, Kathleen

Monday a.m.

Good Day, All--
We had a good week, didn't we! Polly, 8 lbs. last week was astounding, as is your 35 lb. loss in 3 months! Glad you're being circumspect about your weight this morning. I'm sure you'll break the 200 barrier soon enough! I'm sure hoping to break into the 150's this week--that's only one more lb.

Kathleen, congratulations on getting another lb. off, just think, by now the weight lost is mostly fat; that's why our clothes are starting to fit looser. I got into another pair of pants this a.m. that were too tight a couple of weeks ago. Even tho I haven't lost a ton of weight (yet!) my measurements have gone down significantly. You've lost almost 10lbs.! I can't wait for my next 10 lbs. to come off!

Well, just as you all never heard of a sanddab (mh says they're a CA fish), I never heard of a red or a black drum! Are they good? Sorry you didn't catch anything yesterday--maybe just go catch 'em at the market like we do, but it wouldn't be as much fun, eh!

Here's to another great week of being in control! Teresa

B - egg yolk, sausage, spinach
L - carne asada, shrimp enchiladas (no tortilla), salad
D - salmon, zucchini & crookneck squash
S - few nuts, few bites chicken, cr.ch.

All time high - 175 (1998)
Start date - 6-6-07 - 165
Last Mon. - 161
Today - 160
Goal - 125
Height - 5'2"
Age 58

start date 6/18/07
last Mon wgt 242
today's wgt 242
goal 160
5'6" 53yrs old

Well I am trying real hard not to be too bummed out....I ate extra Sat & just have to be ok with the choices I made... it's mainly hard cause the rest of the week was so perfect & I made really good choices in a few bad situations and then didn't loose anything. Guess I was thinking I would be down a lb instead of 2lbs. Did just fine yesterday & today and now I have to give myself a good talking to so that I don't go to the kitchen & do something stupid....

Glad to hear the rest of you did well. Teresa, a whole lb--that's wonderful!! At a miserable lb a week think of how thin we can be next year at this time!!! And Polly, well we are counting on you to hit that 199 to give us hope
And a whole lb to you too Kathleen!!! With all that fresh fish to enjoy for your protein--what a healthy way to go! I just bought some fish on my way home today & even at a good price it still runs up!! Bought a bag of scallops for $8.99 & now I just have to figure out how to fix 'em. I do love most fish. Got some chicken too & am going to do some cooking tomorrow so that I have stuff to grab.
Today's menu
B=coffee w/cream
chicken mexicali
L=tuna quiche
S=raw almonds
D=chicken salad w/pork rinds (as crackers)
Probably will have another snack as I ate my dinner stuff at 3:30 when I got in from work.
Will check back in later tonight to see what's happening. And to get the ck breast & ck casserole recipes from your posts. Any suggestions about the scallops??

Hang in there Corrisann. It might be just a mild hangover and if you stay with it, it will come off!! Scallops wrapped in bacon are to die for, if they are sea scallops. Wrap with bacon and secure with a toothpick and broil untill bacon is cooked and then dip in real butter flavored with garlic. Really good! Other wise I really like broiled w/butter and lemon and garlic. Very simple too.

I finally got todays menu in control
B-Genoa Salami w/cream cheese
coffee w/ cream
L- Chicken enchiladas (made with egg crepes)
and sour cream ,rotel tomato and cream sauce
D-Pork loin w/ salad
S-veggies & ranch dressing or pork rinds

Teresa you are down another pound this week! Slow and steady wins the race! Red drum are a nice mild white fish. Very good. I forgot to list my favorite from the bay, flounder! We have a friend that is really good flounder fishing and sometimes he'll give us some.

till later, Kathleen

It looks like everyone is hanging in there although the weight is not falling off. But this is the first diet/way of eating I've ever done where I didn't get anxious about slow weight loss. My body is telling me to stick with it, it'll come.

It is scallop season here, it started on July 1 and lasts till Labor Day. I usually just cook them in butter and finish them off with some lemon juice.

Our fish of choice on this part of the Gulf coast (the armpit of Florida) is the mullet. On other parts of the Gulf coast, it is considered a trash fish, but here, it's a delicacy! I measure every other fish I've ever eaten against the mullet and nothing has ever been better. It is often called the "chicken of the sea" because it has a gizzard and you cannot catch them with a hook and line because they suck their food. Most are caught with cast nets or speared. I have dozens of mullet stories I'll tell ya'll one day!

Yesterday's Menu
B- coffee w/ cream, a few sections of a clemetine orange, 1 slice double fiber toast (6 grams carbs)
L- Chicken breast, spinach salad
S- boiled peanuts
D- philly cheese steak w/ onions and peppers topped w/ shredded lettuce.
S - carbsmart ice cream bar

Kathleen, I'm gonna try doing some enchiladas with crepes this weekend. I haven't made a crepe in ten years but want to get good at it again...the possiblities on this diet are endless!

What are ya'll doing for the 4th?

Was so "food anxious" last nite & was trying to figure out a way to quell it before I got stupid ya know....racking my brain back 3yrs ago when I did so good with this way of eating & remembered that there were times that I would eat a huge serving of shrimp or chicken wings & then I would be very content. So I dug out my deep fryer (which I put away when I was trying low fat again...) & put fresh oil in it & cooked me 15 chicken wings---LOL---and I ate every single one!!! Oh did that hit the spot! Was sure a good thing cause shortly thereafter dh came in from work with a loaf of homemade bread.....but I was so full that the thought of eating a piece almost made me sick. So I managed to make it thru the whole evening in good shape! Hate it when I have those "food moods" like that!! I know they got less & less as I lost the wgt on low carb, where they stuck around when I've lost wgt on lowfat or counting calories etc.
So many fish stories you gal's have. You'd think living in the great lakes area of MI I'd have more fresh fish access but I don't.
Polly this 4th we are doing NOTHING!!!!! Didn't tell anyone what our work schedule would be so we wouldn't end up with it all planned full. Didn't even feel like having my folks over for a cookout. That's a first. So I'm hoping to just putz around home & maybe cook something ahead & watch a couple movies with dh. Is your store going to be open on the 4th?? I know here everything is open all the time....never a break for retail workers.....
Well I need to get a move on & finish up the laundry before I go to work. Just love the way us women get to work before work/at our jobs/after work.....just work work work that's us gal's......

Hi Ladies,
The chicken enchiladas were pretty good except a little runny. Beef came out a little more together. Next time I think I will use more sour cream or cream cheese and less regular cream. Still very tasty and full of Mexican flavor!

We are having company tonight since one of the big companies here in town does a firework show every year on the 3rd. (the rest of the surrounding areas do them on the traditional 4th) Anyway we have the perfect spot on our back deck for the show and we usually have friends over to celebrate and watch. However since it is later in the evening we just put out a few snacks. Well this year they are low carbing and won't even know it!! Hot wings, cheese ball (crackers for them) celery, broccoli, cucumbers w/ranch (these will double for "crackers" for me, deviled eggs and summer sausage w/cheese. I'm not even going to temp myself with any chips, I thought about fruit but I am not there yet!! So they are not getting any!! Pray it doesn't rain. Seems like the deluge is on. But I figured if we don't get to see the fireworks everything left over is on my diet or should I say my new way of life. We will probably go fishing again on the 4th and watch a different show that night. Although the forecast is not favorable.............Might be a movie or two from the movie store!

Todays menu
B-Rueben -on a low carb wrap
coffe w/ cream
L-pork loin on lettuce wrap
D- gonna hold out for the party snacks!
S-hopefully none or something w/lettuce
I am trying to keep the carbs down until tonight.

Hope you are having a good day, Kathleen

Tuesday morning

Hi, Gals--
You all are right--a lb. a week is nothing to sniff at if we can do it all year, huh! Here's to that! Corrisann, you've lost 7 lbs. in 2 weeks, that's great! Hang in there. Scallops sound delicious; love the way everyone has suggested. I've also had them in sherry cream sauce w/mushrooms, bell peppers, & onions.

It seems that eating fish for dinner helps when my weight stalls. And eating asparagus, because it's a diuretic and high in fiber.

We went out for dinner last night because mh worked cleaning out the garage all day and was tired (he does most of the cooking; I clean up), so we'll have last night's salmon tonight. I had a fabulous grilled pork chop w/fennel and romano beans. And 2 bites of lemon pudding creme cake w/blueberry sauce--uh-oh! Well, it's pretty hard to resist something like that...I'm actually proud of myself for not ordering dessert. The great thing was that I could stop at 2 bites!

Polly, I never heard of a mullet, either; I look forward to some of those fish tales!

Have a great Tuesday everyone. T.

B - sausage, egg yolk, spinach, tea w/cream
L - salad w/r. beef, turkey, pastrami
D - salmon, zucchini, crookneck squash
S - Almonds, pecans, cr ch

Wow, ladies! You've all been doing so well! Yours truly has been a bit "off the wagon,' what with some out of town time with hubby. But I'm getting my act back together rather quickly; in fact, today I'm experiencing a little of that SNATT stuff. Tomorrow is our church's annual Musical Fourth and I'm in the chorus; afterwards (for the first year ever, wouldn't you know ... ) we're having a barbecue and I was asked to provide "Gramma's Beans" for the occasion .... the brisket will be fine, but the beans? There's also a neighborhood parade in the morning. Now, if we can just dodge the raindrops and keep the flags dry ...

Here's to a Wonderful July 4th celebration to you ladies and to all those you love. Gramma

Wow it's hard to believe that we are at the 4th already.....will be crabbing about the snow before you know it....LOL!! It's going to be a quiet day at home w/ dh so won't be any big food challanges!
Kathleen I haven't cooked the scallops yet. Seems like I've had them in a resturant & enjoyed them??? Anything w/bacon wrapped around it can't help but be tasty!! I'll let you know.
Traveling & staying healthy in any eating style is very hard Gramma! Even thoug lc is about the easiest I think. Glad that you & dh had some traveling time together! Am hoping to be able to get a lot of travels in w/dh when he retires in 10yrs. And I want to be at a good healthy wgt long before that time comes!!
Isn't it grand to have just a taste Teresa & be satisfied & walk away w/o turning it into overkill!!! Have lots of thin friends that don't "diet" to stay that way & that's how they handle food. A couple tastes always seems to satisify them; actually they don't think about food the same way as me at all. That's one of the reasons why I'm working on my mind set so much this time.
Today went fine and I am happy to report that the extra bites on so many wonderful things at the BBQ did not send me to eaters hell for any # of days!!! Maybe there is hope
Todays menu:
B=chicken wings
L=4 more ck wings (ha!) & a hot dog
S=pork rinds w/ dip
D=cheese stick celery stalks w/ cream cheese
Started taking the fibercon pills Teresa & that has helped so much. Thanks for the tip! Anytime I change my eating habits--no matter what approach--I end up with trouble.....am trying to stay pretty close to the meat fast for a few days to get my system into fat burning gear!
Have a good day tomorrow ladies!! Remember we can celebrate & have a wonderful time w/o filling up on carbs!!!

Instead of soothing myself with eating, I went to bed early.

Today is my 3rd day sticking to my low carb plan. I'm so excited that I've come this far. Hopefully, I'm on my way to weight loss again. I have about 50 more pounds that I would like to lose. How much do you all want to lose?

I hope you're feeling better today, LouAnn! I have to tackle laundry also. My washer has been down for the past few days. The repairman came yesterday, but it still wasn't working last night. He's coming again today, and I hope he can fix it.

I didn't get a chance to make snow cones, but I did make a pitcher of Kool Aid with a Splenda Quick Pack. I get tired of drinking too much water, and having the Kool Aid was a special treat last night. I wish I could drink ice-tea. Even decaf tea keeps me awake at night.

You are doing great with your weight loss, Polly! I started out on Monday weighing 216. Today the scale said 210. I get goosebumps thinking about getting below 200 pounds.

Have a great day everyone!

Cheryl
would llike to join in, if I may...sorry aout your headaches... I eat excedrin like it is candy...usuallly every morning with my cup of coffee...

Due to not feeling well, I sort of screwed up last night and resorted to eating. Thank goodness, I binged on all low carb food. Even though I sort of feel bad about last night, I feel positive that at least I stayed away from high carb foods.

For dinner last night, I had two hamburger patties made with lettuce as the buns and garnished with onions, tomatoes, mayonaise, and low carb ketchup. I was still so hungry so I had another. Then I had a sugar-free jello. Then I started to eat a bunch of macadamian nuts. Then I had 3 sugar-free popsicles. Then I had a piece of string cheese. Then I overdosed on some almonds. I finally quit eating after taking a big scoop of peanut butter.

I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. I recently purchased the book, "The Beck Diet Solution." The book focuses on changing how you think while trying to lose weight and keep it off. I'm not even half way through, but I'm now realizing that I set myself up to fail last night.....I ate while sitting in the living room watching TV and I ate too fast.

I was very surprised when I weighed myself today and lost another pound. I must have been retaining a lot of water. I can't believe how much I have been going to the bathroom since I started back on low carb.

Thanks for the tip on the Steak Ums, Polly! That would make a great addition to the salads that I love to eat. Once I'm over induction, I'd love to have a Philly Steak and Cheese with onions and peppers on a low carb tortilla.

Carolina Girl.....it's so hard to get back on plan. I struggled for almost 5 months. Good luck! You can do it!

I, too, am at the point of my life when I'm starting to get hot flashes. I'm 48 years old. I just had a hysterectomy in November. I can't believe how incrediably wonderful it is not having a period anymore.

LouAnn: I belong to the Kimkins Website. I can't do her plans. They are too strict for me. There's a lot of good information about her plans here on LCF. Don't waste your money joining Kimkins. You can go to her site and get a lot of information without paying. One of the things you get when you pay is the message board. I prefer this message board.

Have a great day everyone!

Cheryl
I had a hysterectomy when I was 36 and love the fact that I don't have to visit the feminine products aisle, sometimes I have to for my daughter... I have a 17 year old daughter and a 12 year old son, both are low carbing with me, they both need to drop around 20 lbs, I want to lose 50-60... I low carbed about 10 years ago, (Had a gastric band for 5 years, but that is a whole other story in itself) and they have so many products now to make it easier... hope you all are doing well

Welcome Jazzvonpurr.
Well the party was great guys. The clouds went away and the rain backed off for a few hours and we had the perfect spot to see the show!! My grandaughter (be 2 in Sept) had her first sparklers and she was sooooooooooo cute . She loved the fireworks, called them "Lights". They are precious at that age.
I did well eating . Only made one honest mistake. Went to get some cheese ball and grabbed a cracker by habit! Soon as I had the last bite I said Oh sh*t and my daughter looked at me and I explained and she just laughed and said if all you screw up on is one cracker be thankful!! I agreed and did well the rest of the evening!! I'm not going to lie, I had a frew drinks. The 0 carb one of course. But it was a holiday party!! I have to live with this!! The weather was actually somewhat cool since we have had all the rain. Another 2-6 inches today. Seems like we already have 2-3 this morning. Gonna start the ARK pretty soon.............
Todays menu
B-hot wings and cheese ball w/cucumbers
L-Rueben wrap
D-Steak and veggies
S- Deviled eggs, chic salad w/ lettuce roll

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th. Remember our brother and sisters in harms way and say another prayer for them today!

Till later, Kathleen

Am sitting in the den listening to all the booms around me, no use trying to go to bed till folks get their fireworks all shot off. Was a very simple & relaxing day!!! Read & watched the baseball game till our TV died. It's 15yrs old so we can't complain, but a new TV is not in our budget at this point in time. DH is going to call & see about repair but I don't think that will be an option as old as it is.

Wish we'd gotten some of your rain Teresa!! We were suppose to get some today but just got a short shower this morning. We're getting pretty dry. 2yr olds make almost everything fun I think!! Well maybe not grocery shopping...LOL!!!

Hope you all had fun at the beach & fishing & BBQing & all that good stuff today. Back to reality tomorrow.....

Today's menu:
B=coffee w/cream
L=chicken wings & a hot dog
D=crab quiche & a slice of homemade sour dough bread
S=sunflower seeds
The bread was a no no but it sure did taste good! Am putting the rest out for the birds tomorrow. DH can now tell the guy that gave it to him that we ate it & it was good.

Gonna be a bad one

Well I am not looking forward to today. We had a tragic crib death in the family and todays the viewing and tomorrow is the funeral. My ex husbands great grandbaby passed away. My daughters are the same age as his granddaughters and are very, very close, so we are going to try to make our way up to Houston for the services. The trip is about 200 miles but with all the rain we have had (12 inches at my place and all along the coast) so far...........the roads are all screwed up. I am hoping to get an early start. So that leaves me in charge of myself while going through all the emotions of a baby funeral and being out of town... I know I will rely on Teresa's hint of just look at the appetizers and salads.
I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th. Back to the old routine for everyone else. Polly how was the beach? Chick sounds like you had a great day in relaxation, and Teresa what did you do? Need I say it we got rained out of the fishing thing.....So just goofed off at the house watching TV and stuff.

Today menu
Chicken enchiladas(leftover)
B-coffee w/cream
L-Probably Subway salad
D-meat and salad or veggies
S-spinach dip and veggies
When we travel we always bring a small cooler for drinks and snacks! So at least I know what I will be consuming there!
Till tomorrow, Kathleen

Welcome Jazz...my favorites are post apocolyptic novels too! My favs are "Swan Song," "The Stand," "Lucifer's Hammer," "The Rift," and most recently Cormac McCarthy's "The Road."

Kathleen, so sorry about the loss in your family.

Teresa, what did ya'll do on the fourth?

Corrisan, my husband and I spent 6 years without a TV and didn't suffer at all!

We had a nice day at the beach. We've got a lot down at Keaton Beach, about 17 miles from town. We keep a small camper on it and have a screenhouse out over the canal. We used to stay down there about four nights a week but we started gardening a couple of years ago and cut back on the beach trips. Now I've got the fever again! But we need to be close to home to take care of the critters and garden...can't do both.

My eating yesterday was so so. I snacked all day, but mostly on low carb or free foods. But felt bloated when we got home last night. This morning I weighed in at 207. I need to tighten up to get under that 200 mark.

Thursday

Post-4th greetings, everyone--

Kathleen, I am so sorry to hear of your tragic loss; may you receive comfort on this difficult day.

Welcome, Jazz--join on in! Gramma, good to hear from you!

Polly, and Jazz--what does post-apocalyptic mean?

We went to a friend's 60th birthday party yesterday. A BBQ w/2 cakes and pie & ice cream. Well I managed to just eat salad, chicken, and cheese, but when it came to the cake....but I only shared 1/2 piece w/mh, and didn't eat any pie or ice cream (which he did of course), so it wasn't too bad. But later I was hungry (maybe just emotionally) and went out and got a steak and salad. So I thought my weight would be up this a.m. but amazingly it wasn't!
Sometimes when I've eaten off plan it shows up 2 days later instead, so we'll see. But now I have to work hard to try to lose my one lb. for the week. Sounds like you all did very well yesterday! T.

B - egg yolk, sausage, spinach, tea w/cr
L - 2 shrimp enchiladas, no tortilla, salad
D - roast chicken, romano beans, crookneck squash
S - few bites chicken, almonds
Drink more water today to flush out yesterday's indiscretions!

Now --- back to business!

Had a great time at the "Musical Fourth" and the picnic/barbecue was held inside because of our liquid sunshine here in North Texas. Great brisket, wonderful pulled pork! Of course, I tasted "Gramm's Beans" but stopped at one spoonful. No bread, no desserts. Lots of water. My friend Elizabeth confided that she'd climbed back on the wagon just Monday .... she'd been lc'ing since January and had lost 37# by June 1st but .... you know how it can happen, don't you? Two of her daughters and her husband had birthdays in June and she baked special items for them (and ate them as well!) But having her in town is a good thing, we see each other twice a week so we can be "visibly" accountable.

So far today:
B - 1 hard boiled egg, 1 slice baked ham, black coffee, H2O
L - 1 cup raw spinach, 2T ranch/bacon dressing, 1/2 cup mushroom soup, H2O
D - (plan) roasted chicken (no skin), steamed broccoli, lettuce and bell pepper salad, water and probably a glass of white wine (hubby and I like to share that at dinner), H2O.

Actually, I've misplaced my Keostix. Drat!

Post-apocolyptic means end of the world novels...like when everyone gets wiped out in a plague or a metorite and the aftermath...makes for gruesome, but good reading.

I don't think one little piece of cake will cause a weight gain. The problem comes when next week, you are tempted and think, "last week it didn't make a difference." and then eat it. Then rationalize the same way the next time till the next thing you know...you are taking in hundreds of carbs a day. Yikes!

Today's menu-
Bacon, coffee w/ cream
L- Ham and cheese sandwich on low carb whole wheat, 6 grams per slice, peeled the crusts off. Banana peppers, homemade pickles (low salt, no sugar) and half a clemintine orange.
D- Ribeyes and salad w/ ranch
S ??

Wo! That sounds like heavy reading! I guess we all would like to see the slate wiped clean at times....

I can't seem to get myself to read anything lately--too tired and just veg out in front of the TV in the eves. We do get Netflix, though, and order some pretty interesting films. We just saw the classic film noir, The Third Man. The cinematography is amazing. I like foreign films a lot, as well as popular films.

I hear ya on the it's Ok to take a bite of dessert occasionally, but before you know it you're doing it every day and then you're in trouble! I was so tempted to get a piece of banana cream pie at lunch today (my favorite), and "just have a bite." The devil was tempting, but I managed to resist, thanks to
having to be accountable to my low-carbing sisters! So glad you're here!

Have a lovely evening. T.

Glad to hear that everyone's 4th celebration seemed to go off well, despite the rain some of you had. And it seems that we all managed to be pretty true to our new lifestyle. That's great!!! I agree with you Polly that it's a mind set that we let ourselves get sucked back into!! It never was the single french fry or lone bite of pie eaten off some else's plate that put us here trying to loose large amounts of weight. I also ate way more than I needed & felt heavy & bloated, even though the food was all ok. But I think the last couple days I just needed that extra full feeling & at least kept to decent foods doing it. I keep telling myself 2lbs a month is gonna be 24lbs less this time next year! Hate to look at it that way but at the same time when I have pressured myself with goals of 50lbs this year etc I have failed & ended up not even being the 24lbs less....my mom always says "it took you several years to put the wgt on, why do you keep thinking you can take it off in 6 months".....good ole mom's, always hitting the nail on the head....LOL!!!

Today I waited till I was actually hungry which was dinner time (shows how much I'd over eaten the last 2 days) & that was a small steak & a cup of raspberries. Will have a protein snack in a few minutes as my tummy is still a bit
empty.

I think I'll try one of those books Polly--which one do you recommend? My fav is "who dun-it's". But like almost anything but romance novels. Read a couple many years back & after even just a couple the plot was being repeated. And I'm old enough now that all the love of your life running down the beach to my arms scenes just seem silly....

The tv thing was funny Polly as my dh never use to watch it period. He was a stereo (classical) & book kind of a fellow. Not sure where over the past 3-4yrs he got so into tv. Maybe after we got the history channel & the discovery & the home channel. He has a repair man coming tomorrow so we shall see.

Kathleen that is so sad about the crib death. There are no words for that kind of pain in life. Know you & them are in my prayers.

Well I need to go pack tomorrows lunches & look towards whatever I'm going to make for dinner. Ya'll have a good nite!

I read The stand, and then bought the movie... I liked it... toss me a couple other titles, I seem to find the obscure, and most often poorly written ones...you know the kind where it ends and you say to yourself, huh???

Sorry for your loss Kathleen, when children die, nothing seems to make sense...

Hi all do you mind if I join in ? I have been on low carb for a year now. Need to loose more weight but I have been cheating and gained 8lbs. Didn't take long to add the 8lbs on. I am so mad at myself for doing that too. I know better too. I have a big convention to go to next week and here I am with extra weight on my bod. I am just not finding good food to satisfy my appetite. I get bored very easily with food. I have found some good recipes on this site though. I was on another site and the recipes there were awful you could tell they didn't have any carbs.
Anyone know about sugar alcohols? Can you have sugar alcohols on the carb diet ? I thought sugar alcohols were ok. I mean I take a product subtract fiber and sugar alcohols and get my count for that item. Am I doing wrong ?
I find the carb diet is a diet for life. It's been the easiest diet for me.
When I first started the diet I lost more in measurements than I did in weight. Which was good but I'd like to see the scale go down too.
Now I find the ice cream truck goes by our house now, oh god is that a tease, I can't stand it. Nice to meet you all.
Donna

We do netflix too Teresa and enjoy foreign flicks...the movie "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring" is one of my recent favs...it's about a tiny Chinese monestery floating in the middle of a lake. We watched it over and over one weekend. We also like the HBO series on disc like "Rome" and Carnivale." Watching them back to back, you can follow the story.

Today was a good day eating -
B - half a clementine orange, leftover steak slices, coffee w/ cream
L - big spinach salad w/ feta, peppers, onions and toasted walnuts and basamic vinegrette.
S - celery and tea w/ splenda
D- hamburger steak with onions and peppers, steamed green beans w/ almonds and sliced tomatoes.
S- probably coffee w/ cream...it's Friday night!

Weighed in at 205...I'm stuck but not getting fatter!

Welcome Donna, join on in! I eat a few sugar alcohols but I have to watch them. They cause me to crave I think. I eat one piece of sugar free candy and I want ten. I do eat carb smart ice cream bars w/ sugar alcohols but only about 4-5 per week. You gotta figure out what works for you.

Happy Weekend everyone!
