Good morning YH & E!!

Nice to see you two here. Usually it's C that meets me in the mornings. I begged dh to let me sleep in for once. No kids to get up, he and I are going to dentist appts later so he's not going to work. No need to get up at 5 am. So....he was up at 4 am!! I've been drifting on and off back to sleep but he's up and around and making too much noise so I finally got up. Ugh. I am so much not a morning person!!!

My glasses seem to be getting better so maybe I don't have to return them afterall. Might have just been that I needed to get used to them.

I hate my scale today too, E. I'm swelling up in this heat and retaining water. I feel like it's such an effort in this weather. It's like every week the scale goes up at the beginning of the week and I work so hard to get it down to last week's weight that sometimes I don't have the time to get it down even further. Anyone in for having an 8 day week?? I might just need that extra day this week to lose some weight!! My fingers are even swollen today. I feel like this little guy.

I was starving last night so I ended up making a little salad with cucumbers and a couple slices of deli turkey breast and just sprinkled some apple cider vinegar, no oil, over it. Oh and I had one babybel lite. I don't know how you can eat only 2 hotdogs for supper, E. Aren't you hungry?? No veggies or fruit or salad with it, I don't think I could survive. I wish I could stop the snacking after supper altogether but if I eat a light supper, I am so hungry later and can't seem to get by without a little something before bedtime.

I keep thinking I'd love Weight Watchers when I see all the good stuff you get to eat, YH. If it weren't for my Diabetes, I'd probably give it a try. But I do like the low-carb IF I have the right foods in my house. It's when I am running low on the good stuff that I suffer. I try to keep the refrig stocked with chicken or turkey and plenty of veggies. I really liked having those hardboiled eggs onhand -- a nice quick low-calorie snack in a pinch so I think I will continue doing that. I saw that fruit diet in that magazine too. Would raise my sugars too much but you could do that easily. I love fresh fruit and I'm just thankful the berries don't raise my sugars because now is the time of year when I crave it.

Let me know how the avacado works. You always see those avacado masks in the stores, must be something to it. Yes, I've heard about the Preparation H to tighten up those crow's feet around your eyes, but you have to be careful you don't get any in your eyes!! That would really burn. I think I'd rather live with the crow's feet to tell ya the truth!

T, where ya hiding at?? Missed your post last night. I think I am loving YH & E all the more lately, they seem to be the only ones that are faithfully here with me every single day. Thanks ladies!!

Well, gotta get this coffee in me so I can join the land of the living. But you know I'll be in and out all day! Have a great day gals!! D

Oh and thanks YH for mentioning the drink potion in your menu. Reminded me I needed to get some in me. Do you think you can post me a reminder every single day?? Anyway, I had mine without the choc protein powder -- just the greens blend and psyllium husk powder. But I got it down okay and hopefully that will flush me out and get rid of some of this excess baggage I seem to be carrying with me!!

I was drinking mine as you were posting, HA-not using the whey lately so mine is fairly nasty but im use to it. I know, I forget to mention POTION but I have it every day Mon. thru Fri. at least - I just made a salad and looks so pretty-peach,plum,red grapes, and kiwi. I wish you were able to eat fruit D ! Don't bother with the Preparation H - we smeared our faces to no end like 20 yrs. ago at work and it got a thumbs down ( maybe they changed the formula ) I have to hardboil some eggs too - thanks for that reminder - keep forgetting about those guys. Now if there is no trauma today I hope to get to Curves after work.

I'm trying to get a couple of posts in before we leave for the dentist because I know you chickies will miss me so much while I'm gone today. (Yeah right.) Truth is, I just can't shut up these days.

Oh I meant to ask. Is everything ok between s3 and bf?? The toilet war has blown over?? How is detox going?? You know I think about s3 everyday, just don't want to bug you by asking so much.

Friend said we will go to Curves tomorrow since I cannot go today. I think I made her feel guilty. She made the remark to the newspaper gal that she only goes to the gym because she knows I need it and she wants to keep me company. She weighs 250 lbs, I think she needs it too and I'm tired of her saying that like she weighs 100 lbs and she's just going along for the ride. So I laughed and said, "I think you need to come for yourself too, sweetie" and I patted my friend's big tummy right in front of the newspaper gal. So now my friend is saying, oh let's go back on Friday. Ha!!

E, did you get your walk in today or is it too hot there? Was 91 here yesterday, which isn't too bad considering it can get well over 100 in July and August. But we don't have as much humidity as Florida has. I don't know how Illinois is but I'd think you are East enough that you get high humidity too??

I got all ready for my walk,Hat,sunglasses,Ipod and started out the door and it was starting to rain so I did a new 4 mile video. It was really good. You use the stretch band on the 4th mile for your arms. I am sweating so I figure it must be working. It takes an hr.
I haven't eaten anything yet as I read someones big weight loss story yesterday and she said it's better to work out on an empty stomach. It's suppose to work on stored fat
instead of food you've just eaten. I'll try anything at this point
D,you aren't kidding.I am going to miss you today I guess I'll go to W-M and get something to cook.My dh has eaten sandwiches the last 2 nights but he doesn't mind.He
is not a big eater but he does like his sweets. At least now he can keep some Oreos in the house I'm glad you said something to your friend. She needs to take her weight seriously.

Thats too much about your friend D !!! That must have been a joke or big denial. I would be fine not eating in the am, its when I have the fruit in the morning I all of a sudden get hungry, but night snacking is my problem. Everything you read says eat breakfast. Just a quick hello as S3 got a call that his car is done, I popped in at Curves and was pressed for time so I did the machines only. I made sure I did 15 reps on each and went around twice, I feel it now, must be a reason for the bouncy boards because I normally dont feel sore from Curves, probably did more counting reps. Thats good you dont have to be a big cook for hubby E, I have all the junk food at my house too because of S3 and BF. Off to get car now.

I'm back! Did you miss me??

Glad s3's car is fixed -- that was quicker than they thought, wasn't it?? I bet s3 is happy.

Speaking of cars, my hairdresser called last night to tell me that my insurance totalled her son's car so it's not getting repaired. Now, I already knew this and she knew I knew it because her son had called my son the night before to tell us. Don't know why she called again unless she didn't like the settlement the insurance company gave them. I told dh that we are not chipping in anything above and beyond what they get from our insurance. I told my hairdresser that I was sorry her son didn't get his car back and my son felt terrible about it and that I'm glad at least there is insurance $$ to cover it so he can buy another car. I reminded her that my insurance is now going to skyrocket because of this accident, while her's won't because there was no damage to our car so she didn't have to file a claim to repair it. Only we had to file one to repair her son's car. I'm hoping that satisfies her, knowing that we didn't get off scott-free.

YH, I think I get hungrier before lunch when I do have breakfast. If I don't eat breakfast, I can go till afternoon before really feeling hungry. But I know that's not good so I force myself to have a hardboiled egg or scrambled eggs and spinach at least. I can't eat the big breakfast or I am snacking all morning, I don't know why. I am craving fruit so much lately so I bought some strawberries and raspberries since the blueberries were pretty expensive this time. I have a few blueberries leftover from the last shopping so maybe I will mix up a little fruit salad for suppertime.

We went out for Chinese for lunch (again). I really didn't want to but the town our dentist is in has fast food burger joints, Pizza Hut, Chinese and not much else. I wasn't in the mood for a skimpy McDonald's salad so I agreed when dh suggested the Chinese buffet. Again, I kept it to boneless unbreaded chicken and beef & broccoli but this time I had some lettuce salad and half a sm bowl of hot & sour soup too, trying to eat mostly the broth to fill me up. Hope that doesn't stall my weight loss this week but if it does, I'll know what I did wrong!

E, too bad about the rain but wow -- FOUR miles?? That is really awesome walking. You and YH are going to have great losses this week with all that exercise!! (I got my exercise walking the stores and I cannot do anymore today -- my feet are killing me now.) My dh likes to eat the big meals in the cold weather but in the summertime, he's happy making himself something small for supper while I eat my low-carb food. We save the big meals for the wkds when the boys are home. I've been happy with chicken, fruit and salad these days and dh made himself some runzas (beef and cabbage baked in dough, kind of like a stromboli) the other day. I think he has one left so he'll probably have that tonight.

Didn't have a very good time at the dentist. My peridontal disease is bad. The hygenist wanted to pull a couple of back molars but the dentist said no, he was afraid that would cause my teeth next to them to loosen so he wants to try to save them for as long as possible. Had the deep scaling and cleaning. Not as painful as last time and she said it's because I've kept them cleaner this time, flossing and using a prescription rinse, but my mouth is still pretty sore. Have to go back in 3 months.

I am not a big sweet eater at all. I can pass up cake and ice cream, no problem. But Oreos....oh I am drooling just thinking about them. I love them dunked in milk, about the only time I like to drink milk too!! Oh Elaine, you have me thinking too much about them now, darn you!

Looks like we may get some rain too --- it's getting dark out. We can use the cooling off. It is 97 here today. Hot!

Catch ya later ladies! D

D, Wow is it ever hot there! It's only in the 80's here.I finally went to W-M and got some stuff.I think they have horrible meat so I stopped by Kroger for some groceries also. They have store brand yogurt that is low carb.I also got some celery as I heard it is
a diuretic. Also some baby carrots and low carb ranch for dipping.I am going to try and eat more veggies. I also bought some Cheerio's as that one they recommend on this diet.
I need to get off the sausage.Too bad about your gums,I had that deep scaling done once but I'm one of the wierd people that love to have my teeth cleaned.
I have to go check my ebay bid. It's almost over

I have had 3 extremely long, extremely stressful days plus
storms & power issues today---so I didn't appreciate the crack about not being faithful in my posting....I've always been active & very supportive to everyone here but sometimes life takes you in other directions & you have no choice. It's after 11 & I only got 4hrs sleep last nite so I have to beg off posting again tonight. Would like to not be made to feel guilty about it. The next couple days are fully loaded too but am hoping to be able to check in somewhere along the line--if I can't it's because I can't not because I am sloughing off.

Hi, Gals--

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, but I was too depressed. Called dd1 who is expecting with new bf who has just moved in with her and hear he is being abusive (verbally at this point). Not a good way to start a relationship, and the kids aren't even there; they're up here with their dad. I was hoping this would work out for her, especially since she lost her job and is going to have his child, but it does not seem like it will, sounds worse than the first one. Anyway, after talking with her, I just felt paralyzed, and in addition, I ate some things I shouldn't have. Bummer.

Well, that's life, I guess, and I somehow have to let go of it all. I just don't know how you manage, Y, with all the problems with your ds3 and bf. No way would I be able to lose weight with all that going on. You are awesome! What's your secret?

Congratulations, D, on your interview! That must have been gratifying! Your friend sounds like she's in denial for sure--she should be thanking you for getting her to exercise and eat salad at least a couple of days a week! Re the soy stuff, I think it makes me retain water. It does have some carbs in it, but there must be something else about it...plus it would give me gas.

Too bad about the fruit, D. But does 1/2 apple make your sugar go up if you eat it with an equal amount of protein? I seem to be able to get away with a little fruit if I balance it, but I haven't tried it with apples. So sorry to hear about your unhappy visit to the dentist. I sympathize, I hate going to the dentist!

E, it was raining, so you did a 4 mile video...indoors? Do you have a treadmill? Or was this at a gym? You sure are doing great on the exercising!

Y, you are having such fun playing hooky! Too bad it has to end, huh! It sounds like this is giving you some nice time with your ds, and so he must be doing pretty good still on his detox? You really impressed us all with your 40 laps in the pool! Are you thinking of trying an all fruit diet now? It sounds so good for the summer, but I wonder if all the sugar will spike your appetite.

I'm thinking of ordering one of the callanetics videos. Which one do you recommend to start?

I took Poodie to doggie class this morning, then went to the gym. Had a pretty good workout. Wanted to go yesterday but didn't because too paralyzed from dd1's bad news. Hopefully I am over that and am getting back on track. Will start posting menus again tomorrow. Would like to just be able to eat protein all day like you, E, but can't get myself to do it yet. How hard was that for you?

Hope you all are having a nice evening--see ya tomorrow! T.

Well C, I was not making a crack at you at all so I'm sorry you took it that way. We all know you were away visiting your cousin so you couldn't post at all. But...there was only me, YH and E posting the last couple of days, when last week we had SO many posters in here, so it was just a comment made that whew, at least I had 2 that stuck by my side these past couple of days. If those 2 hadn't posted yesterday and earlier today, I would have been alone here and that's just how it was. But again, we all knew you weren't around so that comment wasn't made to you at all, and it actually wasn't a "crack" made against anyone -- just an observation that I was happy and thankful YH and E were here to keep me company, because it was just the 3 of us for a little bit. Sounds like you had a stressful couple of days. Sorry to hear that but I hope you got some good heartfelt talks in with your cousin and you'll post again when you're feeling better and less stressed.

T, I'm sorry to hear dd is having troubles with her bf. Is she going to stay with him or was she looking for advice to get out of the relationship? Either way, it's sad that this is happening when she is pregnant and I'm sorry you're struggling with it too. It's so hard isn't it, when our kids are hurting and there's not much we can do to help. I'm a big-time stress eater so I know what you mean, and then when I get depressed I feel like eating even more, but in the long run, then I hate myself so it's not worth stress-eating. So just come back to us when you're feeling down and out and we will cheer you up and get you on the right track again! I don't know why my sugars are so sensitive, but dh and I can eat the same exact thing (he has Diabetes too but controls it with pills) and his sugars are fine afterwards and mine are so high. So far, strawberries, canteloupe and blueberries seem to be the only fruit I can eat that don't raise my sugar levels. I bought some raspberries today but haven't "tested" them out yet, so we'll see about them. Good job on the exercising -- keep it up!!

SC, glad you survived the storm. That's how it is here, we don't get much rain but when we do, it's usually accompanied by severe thunder and lightening. I miss those friendly sunshowers we used to get on the East coast when I was growing up. I am retaining water badly with all this heat so unless something drastic happens in the next couple of days, I fear a gain this week too.

YH, I thought of you today regarding your tennis shoe shopping trip with s3. I bought ds2 a pr of sneakers (he wasn't with me when I picked them out). He stopped by home tonight on his way to lift weights at the high school and took one look and said no way. I thought he'd like them, I know ds1 would have (but unfortunately they aren't his size) but ds2 and I don't share the same taste apparently. Good thing I didn't buy him a bunch of prs like you did for s3. Geesh, you'd think my son would have been a little more appreciative over a free pr of sneakers!!

E, sounds like you got some great goodies today! Asparagus is a good diuretic too. I don't like Wal-Mart's meat either. I do like their deli meats though -- I usually try to get some good turkey breast from them as the other stores' deli counters around here have that processed turkey breast that tastes slimy and yucky to me. Did you win the bid on Ebay? What did you get?? I think I decorated my whole house with things I got on Ebay LOL. I had quite the addiction for awhile there.

Well it's late so I better stop rambling. Have a great night ladies! D

S3 got his car but now says he is hearing some new noise and is upset so I told him to try and deal with it today. Still on detox meds and a good day and a bad.

Sorry your having a rough time C, come back when you can.

SC-what is happenning Oct. 5th ? Put your stats back up so we can see how your doing.

Sorry to hear about dd T, the guy will probably only get worse, ughh. My ex was abusive and me with 3 kids. Did you try the prozac yet ? I think im feeling better on it and its not a weight gainer, I would give it a shot. My life has been one big stress and I just had to do something because I was gaining and gaining and then just hating myself. BF stated you will never lose weight with S3 here but I proved him wrong. I have to quit smoking too one of these days, that will be extremely hard for me, way worse than losing weight. I would try the prozac and xanax. I think the beginner callanetics may be a good start, D will know as I really cant remember that one. If not, the 10 and 10. I know there is a new one by someone else called Callanetics Evolution but I dont have it so cant comment, SC may have.

E-I have bought like 900 items on ebay-its really awful-mostly clothes-now I am buying stuff too small but cant resist the bargains. I bought 2 cars on ebay - one for s3 and bf- I was in charge of the bidding as they call me the ebay queen-yup, an addiction. Buying way too many capri's for cheap-they cant go out of style as I wear them to work everyday.

I could never buy anything for S3 D, him and those tennis shoes to match outfits for cripes sake, he is the vain one out of the bunch, I just sat in a chair and paid for them, they have nice clothes but pricey. Sorry about your gums D, now I did buy the waterpic and believe its helping as I went for a cleaning before my trip and there were no issues which is unusual. First I bought the portable one and returned as does not hold enough water and reviews not good, ended up getting the one you plug in-deluxe model, its not that big really and I put that presciption rinse in the water too. You would be surprised at junk that comes out even tho you brushed real good. I have no room either but made room after last dental bill.

Thurs
am-pretty fruit mix, Potion
snack-raw broccoli and cauliflower
lunch-salad w 1 babybel and 1.5 sl. turkey breast
dinner-WW entree
snacks-fruiti, pretzels,animal cookies

BF has 2 interviews today-these are at his current location (other is at faraway place) He applied for 3 jobs so far.

Tempted!

Hello girls!

Well - I've had a little trouble with my computer not accepting my password. Then I thought I'd taught it better. Then it refused again! I hope this will be better...

Well, I've got a bit dispirited. The wine and cahew nut debauch cost me two pounds gain and now I seem to be stuck at 9st 13lbs. For the last two days I have been totally faithful to Dr A induction principles, and it is the first time ever that he is not doing the trick for me. Furthermore the shops are full of cherries, figs, strawberries, raspberries - all the summer fruits that I love, and I am

tempted

So what shall I do? I don't know. Reason says stay with the system that has always worked and try harder, now that wound healing has got so much better and I can nearly jump around more. Swimming maybe in a couple of weeks? But perhaps my metabolism has changed with middle age? *Snarls*.

Denise, I'm in agreement with you over the breakfast issue. Every diet expert seems to say that it's the most important meal of the day. Then other experts say "only eat when you're hungry". And I'm very rarely hungry in the mornings! And now you have become a celebrity!

Yellow Hair - I think it's very courageous of you to say that your ex was abusive. It's terribly hard to admit such a thing, let alone turn your life around, as you are doing. Am I saying the right thing? I don't want to be tactless.

Dentists! How I love going to the dentist! They are now so expensive here, and there are not so many NHS dentists - and why would a dentist work for the NHS when private practice makes them so rich? Every so often, headlines are made when some poor old pensioner tears out their own teeth with pliers! No, the dentist is a big luxury. I've heard teenagers bragging to each other because they've got braces. "Mine were £7,000!" "Well, mine were £10,000, but then my parents can afford it..." Once, they would have been beaten up for being a metal-mouth.

I particularly love a television show called "Ten Years Younger". Of course you know the format - a team of experts selects a poor wrinkled sagging bagging drooping woman and transforms her. There is the plastic surgeon, the hair stylist, the makeup whizz, the wardrobe stylist - but of all of them, it's the dentist who gets the tears, hugs and kisses and swearings of Eternal Gratitude.

Memo to self - see if can afford appt.

You might like to know that it is chilly and wet here. This sort of weather usually arrives for Wimbledon.

Elaine! You are Exercise Queen! Goodness, you must be fit.

Lots of love to everyone - XXX

Good morning gals!

Wow SC, you got your picture up!!! I can honestly say you don't look anything like I thought you did!! I think when you said towhead, I figured you still had blonde hair for some reason, and I imagined it long and flowing. Glad to finally "SEE" you -- you look great -- very adorable!!

I had such a hard time falling asleep last night, didn't get to bed till almost 1 am and then I was up at 4:30 am, choking and coughing. I fell asleep with the fan directly on me, didn't realize that, and boy I feel lousy this morning. My face is all swollen and my fingers are so swollen, my rings won't budge at all. I'm starting to think the Chinese food only added to my water retention problem and that was a very bad choice twice this week. But other than those whines and complaints, I'm doing great!!

Friend called last night and wants to go to Curves today but I just called and cancelled. Not a good day for me to skip my water pill.

Miss A, one of the reasons I went for South Beach over Atkins is that with South Beach, you can have more fruits and vegetables, although they are pretty strict with the fruit during Phase I, I believe. YH is doing Weight Watchers and they allow plenty of fruit and she's losing tons of weight. Maybe Atkins is not for you this time around. Our bodies change with age (don't we all know that!! ) so maybe you need a different approach this time. Just a thought.

Yes, E, you sound like a morning person. I am not at all. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I sleep past 6 am ever, I'm up with the birds usually, but I just don't relish the thought! Dh is one of those that wakes up singing at 5 am everyday, weekday or wkd. He's lucky I don't sleep with a frying pan next to the bed!

YH, I bet when one goes thru withdrawals, every little thing irritates them. I get cranky when I don't have my morning coffee -- I can only imagine what that poor kid is going thru!! I'm glad he has such an understanding and patient mom. I know how stressful it can get but you're doing a great job with him! Sorry you went thru so much crap with the ex. On the bright side (if there can even be one) it made you the strong woman you are today. I like that saying...what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger....or something to that effect! Are you playing hookey today or are you planning to work the full day finally?? Just teasin' ya!! Actually, apart from your wedding trip, you sound like you rarely take time off so maybe it was a good thing to get some off this week!

Well ladies, once again, I can't seem to shut up but I promise I will now! Happy Friday! D

Life's too short

I just got off the phone with my hairdresser and I've come to the conclusion that life is too short to sweat the small stuff. She said the insurance company gave her exactly what she paid for her son's car, plus he had left some things in it and to save her the 2 hour drive to pick them up, they Fed Ex'd it all to her. I think that's great, so why the complaints?? Then she started going on and on about how their insurance will probably raise now because of this accident even though it wasn't her son's fault at all. I bit my tongue. I do accept that my son hit her son's car, but her son backed up without looking in the rearview mirror so he has to claim some responsibility in this mess, even if it's not 50%. Hey, even 10% or 20% responsible for an accident is partial liability, ya know? But like I said, I bit my tongue and listened to her rant & rave. Stress does a number on my health and I really don't need it in my life right now. I think this is a good laundry day. Ds2 needs some clothes washed for his wrestling camp tomorrow and it will lift my spirits to get it on the line in the fresh air. Funny how stupid things like that make me feel better, but they do.

Good Advice -

Denise - the library opens in an hour, and I think I will run over and ask to order this South Beach Diet book. Perhaps my metabolism has changed with age? Never before has Dr A failed, and hey! it's summer and I would like just a little nice fruit.

I have been following the car insurance fracas with great interest - aargh! And I did think that never again will you risk sitting in her salon and saying "I've been thinking about a whole new look..."

Goodness, I'm sorry you had such a bad night. You must be a bit of a heroine to sound cheerful after that!

Right - South Beach - just putting on something rainproof -

I'm back and I got some great deals at the book sale,50 cent paperbacks and1$ hard backs.I did win my ebay purchase. It was a Harley-D zip up sweatshirt. They had one at
the H-D store that was marked down for 48$.They're prices are ridiculous.I got mine for
17$ WITH shipping I have been quite addicted to Ebay myself. That's what you do when your bored.
A,I agree with D, I think you need a new plan.I always lose best on LC but with a few
modifications.I like a little fruit and veggies too.I'm sure part of the problem is the fact that you can't exercise yet. I exercise but I'm still not losing.I'm like D,though.I am swelling. Can't get my rings off.Hang in there.Do you have a digital camera that you could
take a picture and post?We would love to see you
SC, Great picture. It makes it more personable. You actually feel like you know the person
that you are posting too. Do you think we recognize any of us if we met on the street
T,sorry about dd1's situation.I hope she will be OK. Yes,I have alot of videos that I do
indoors,I just have to do them early or I get too lazy Glad you got to the gym.It will
help work off some stress.
YH, it sounds like your bf is serious about a new job.I hope he gets one in the same area if thats what you want.Sometimes long distant relationships can be fun."Absence makes
the heart grow fonder" or wait,is it "Out of sight ,Out of mind"I hope you are having a good day at work.At least it's Friday!
D,You sure were up late last night.I can't hang with the big girls,I have to be in bed about 9 or 10.If I'm doing something special I can.Mydd1 and I took my grand-d to NYC
for a Grad.present and we were still on the streets at 1am!We had alot of fun.Did not stop laughing all wk I was thinking about the Ins.Company totaling out ds's car.I
hate to say it but it must have been pretty junkie for them to do that. They are lucky
they got what they paid for it.I'm surprised. They shouldn't have any problem with that.
Kids are going to have accidents. If they can't fathom that then they don't need to let
him drive. At least they can be thankful it was not worse and somebody got hurt!Any
news on Vonn?
C,Sorry you had such stressful days.It couldn't have been easy being around your cousin
and knowing what she is going through.I will keep her in my prayers

E, the sweatshirt sounds nice. Great price! You can't even get a regular sweatshirt for that price, especially a brand name like HD!!

Yeah, I'm thinking my hairdresser is just yapping about nothing at this point. Her son's car had no body damage at all, it wasn't that hard of a hit. The boys were in a school parking lot backing up, so it wasn't at a great speed, the cars didn't even skid or move out of their places. But ds2's car hit her son's car right smack on the back tire and I guess it bent the frame or the axle or something like that and it would cost more to make the repair than the car was worth so that's why it's totalled. It was a school car, not their main vehicle, so they didn't pay much for it. I'm just glad they got all their money back -- I was afraid they wouldn't. And of course, that no one was hurt. Miss A, you made me laugh about going to her salon to get my hair done. I am due for a color and highlight. Dare I go?? Maybe I will wait a week till she cools off a little.

Did I tell you that we looked at puppies yesterday when dh and I went to town?? Dh is ready for a new dog but I am not. So it was just a "look-see" type of thing. We have a pet store that sells a few puppies at a time, not a puppy mill at all, this is a family-owned establishment. They had 4 in there yesterday. A corgi, westie, pug and beagle. All little itty bitty puppies that just were so excited when we tried to pet them, crawling all over us and trying to lick our hands. I don't like corgies or pugs so those were out. The westie was adorable (think of that Caesar dogfood commercial with the small white terrier) but they wanted $400 for it and nope, that ain't gonna happen. The beagle was only $100 or best offer, so they said. I know dh would have jumped at her if I gave the go ahead -- she was adorable -- but I told him no, I need a little more time. Ds2 said he would be okay with it but he thinks ds1 would feel it's too soon also.

Well here's dh home early from work so I'll catch ya later ladies! D

D,the puppies sound so cute, but do you have a dog pound or Humane Society around
there? Their are so many dogs, puppies too that are going to be put down.My heart just
breaks for them. Most of the time now, they even have a web site with pictures. My dd1
got a wonderful puppy at the pound and it was his last day to live.He was named Lucky
because of it.He's an Australian Shepard.Great Dog It's worth checking into.Cheaper too. Like you said you're not ready yet,so wait until you are.Sometimes it does help to
get over the loss though.

SC- thanks for the pic - now I imagined you as a brunette with straight hair, is your hair naturally curly or is that a perm ?? You look nice !

Oh D - im glad the insurance saga is over with - geez S3 took his car back to the place today to report the new noise and they just sprayed it with something and said if it does not go away come back Monday. Puppy looking- how exciting -Im partial to bigger dogs but a beagle is like a real dog, you will know when you are ready - is there a pound not a zillion miles away ?

I had the long distance with BF already he lived in NY then moved to Florida. Hopefully he gets one of the jobs that is where he is at now. BF told me he joined a GYM today- oh oh - they were at his work place and it was a decent deal - LA Fitness. Glad you got the books and shirt.

Yes Miss A, we need a pic of you ! I know , dont you just hate when you indulge a little and its a nightmare. I would try another plan. Im a fairly blunt person and thought nothing of telling about my abusive ex. I have a better secret, right girls

Now 2 freakin pizzas are being delivered with double cheese and pepperoni !!! S3 was dying for pizza and then the coupons - I better get a boring frozen entree quick !!! What torture I managed to jump in the pool and did 27 laps, my body just gave out, come Friday everything catches up it seems.

YH you are too funny -- yes you are the holder of all-time big secrets!

We have a small dog pound about an hour away. We checked that out first. They had one little dog there -- looked like a chiuahaha (sp?) mix of some kind -- not what I'm looking for. Our pound charges $50 per dog, not really cheap but not expensive either. That's where we got Hannah 8 yrs ago. But that's the first dog I've seen there in a couple of weeks. It's not a really busy animal shelter like some of the bigger cities have, more of a place for the doggies to wait if/when the dog officer picks them up and then the owners come claim them. Hardly ever has more than 1 or 2 dogs at a time there. We got Hannah because the dog officer had picked her up in that town (which is where I get my nails done) 3 times and the owners were sick of her running away and having to pay the fines, so they told the animal shelter to keep her that last time. At least coming home with us, she could run and run and not worry about dog officers in our little town. I don't think the pet store breeds or raises the puppies. They always have only 1 of any kind and sometimes only a couple of puppies at a time, mostly mixed breeds selling for $10 or $20. This was the first time I saw the more expensive purebreds there. I think maybe ppl take them there to sell because they cannot get rid of the puppies themselves and the pet store sells 'em for them.

I hope bf finds a job close by YH. Dh and I did the long-distance thing for about a year & half before we got married. I was living in New Hampshire, he was in Nebraska, when we first met on the internet so we dated long distance. Not anything I'd recommend but we've survived 10+ yrs and counting (9 of those married) so I guess it can be done.

Just went outside and gave dh a haircut on the deck. We are going to his 30th high school class reunion tonight. I fear it will be a big drinking party as he graduated with some wild child's! But I am determined to drink water only since the scale moved down a little this afternoon (now that we have the a/c running). I am still up from last week but I don't need to be up even more tomorrow so I'll lay off the alcohol tonight.

OMG pizza with double cheese and pepperoni!! You are killing me YH!! You know that is my all-time fav!! I had a craving earlier so I sliced up some zucchini length-wise, layered it with a little spag sauce, (cooked) ground turkey and mozzarella cheese and baked it at 350 for 45 min. Low-carb zucchini parmesan -- delicious!! I had a sm pc for lunch along with 2 turkey meatballs. Yum!!
