Well, nice try, Elaine--we'll be excited to see your avatar when you get it figured out. I had to have my dd1 show me how to do it; she's a whiz with computers. Hope you find the way soon! (It's kind of hit or miss for me.) Also, congrats on losing 3 lbs. this week! You may slow down a bit, but you'll have plenty of company here! C and I have been at it for over a year now! I have not lost as much as I wanted to, but am glad I weigh less than I did a year ago, and that I keep trying to make progress. I am eating a lot healthier. Hope you and your dh have fun on the bike tomorrow!

Thanks, everyone, for your concern for me re the fire. They did get it under control by this morning, thank goodness. It's unconceivable how someone could do that--the damages are incredible--several homes burned to the ground and property devastated. As far as I know, no one was killed though. I hope we're through with this now. It actually clouded up and sprinkled a little today, cooling things down considerably, so that was a blessing.

D, I hope it has cooled off for you. I sure hope you can find someone to fix your ac soon! At least you got your wonderful new refrigerator in, even if you weren't able to get it filled up! Congrats on being down another lb.--you'll reach the 50 lb. mark before ya know it! Glad Vonn made it through surgery; hope he continues to recover.

Well, SC, should we change your abbreviation to Cl now or leave it SC? Claudette is a lovely name! Sorry about putting back the 5 lbs., but good for you for keeping at it--we all have our ups and downs, hopefully more downs when it comes to our weight! Hope we get to see a pic of you soon, too!

Miss A, big congrats to you on your 4 lb. loss the first week! Awesome! You must really love to cook or bake or whatever you call it, to take on such a daunting project as the gun (did I get that right?) cake! Let us know how it turns out. I'm sure your fil will love it. Couldn't you have the bangers without the mash? I have them for breakfast sometimes--my favorite sausage!

Y, what will happen if bf takes a job in another location? Would he come back on the weekends? 1 lb. is not bad at all considering all that you've been through lately and eating off your plan during your trip. There's always an adjustment period when you get back from a trip--most of us gain a lot more than a lb. when we go away! Glad you're getting back into going to Curves. Hope you have better luck at the alternate gym and can get into a nice relaxing hot pool for a change!

I had no plans for the weekend except to go to the gym, which I did today. And I rode the bike twice at home, so that was good. Dh went to an athletic club reunion, so I was not interested in attending--I don't think wives were even invited! (Thank goodness!) Tomorrow afternoon there is to be some sort of a political meeting at the house, so we won't be going anywhere, but we never do anyway, except to go to the Greek restaurant again. I had a pleasant enough day by myself here with Poodie--it's rare I get the house to myself; I got to watch whatever I wanted to all day long!

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday! T.

Well Elaine I see you have your picture in your profile. (Very nice - love your long blonde hair!) You just need to put it as your Custom Avatar now.

We ended up going to the benefit tonight. Both ds1 and ds2 went so we decided we may as well too. We sat with some of my sorority sisters, so that was nice. I bought a couple of t-shirts with Vonn's name on them and we donated some $$ too but we ate leftovers for supper at home instead of eating at the bbq. They were serving baked beans and potato salad with the burgers and I just figured I'd be better off eating my own food, plus we ate such a big lunch, we weren't really that hungry.

Today's menu:

B-2 eggs, spinach, 2 veggie sausage links
L-1 hamburger patty, 1 hotdog, sm pc kielbasa, fruit salad, tossed salad
S-4 sips beer
D-2 hotdogs, salad

We've got fans running throughout the house, so hopefully it will be cool enough to sleep but no chance of getting the a/c fixed on Monday since we haven't even found anyone willling to come this far yet. I told dh that he needs to buy me a kiddie pool so I can sit on the deck and cool my feet off. I may just do that if it looks like it's going to be awhile before we get the a/c fixed!!

T, glad the fires are out and you are okay. That would worry me, being so close! How did dh like his reunion? It is nice to have the house to yourself sometimes. Hope you had a nice relaxing day! Is your dog's name Poodie or do you just call him/her that because he's a poodle?? Good job on the exercise today!

Hey YH, watcha up to?? Are you doing a movie marathon tomorrow? Any good ones?

I bet C is having fun sitting around the campfire with all her friends.

Well I guess that's it for now. Good night ladies!! D

The dog and I left the condo for 6 hours. Took him to doggie park and doggie lake and then Pet Supermarket, he was fascinated with the chichillas. He had such a blast and still wanted to play when we got home ! Thank goodness there was shade and I just sit while he plays with all the dogs. My back is iffy today now, I think it was from standing in an awkward position on the rocky bottom lake trying to get him to go swimming. BF was upset when he got home as his work friend died unexpectedly but then twists it to life's too short to live like we are with s3. I just overheard BF on the phone with job guy. BF's friend went to hospital last week, found cancer cells around is heart, dies a week later, no problems prior.

Sat.
am-yogurt and peach
dinner-frozen entree - stuffed cabbage thing-240 cals. - kinda nasty
snacks-fruiti and pretzel rods
exercise-curves, callanetics, treadmill 30 min.

Congrats on the 1 lb. D - im sure it was the pop. For some reason diet soda makes me nauseous but I can drink the Crystal Lite. Your fridge sounds so nice. Hope you can find an AC person quick ! Yes, cmon over and go in the pool-when I get out of the pool I have to run to the shower as my place is cold-constant argument with BF but s3 and I like it cold. I saw a great movie recently - may be old - Jane Eyre.

That political meeting sounds real exciting T Is your gym open on Sundays ? My gym 1972 is not a nice as gym 2001 but cant see paying all that money if the amenities dont work. Do you guys ever go to the beach ? I use to go all the time but now I dont, not sure why-I would have to be in the ocean all the time with the heat.

Sorry about the weight gain SC - a change in your plan may be a good thing. I think of switching too but then again I have done well with ww and can eat my fruit ! There is a diet called fit for life that I did well on years ago that I may consider but then the snacks would be an issue ! Ok I missed something - a stone equals how many pounds ? Its amazing how fast the weight can come back when off plan - scary. We will have to be on a plan forever

I am a coffee fiend H - sometimes 2 pots a day, thats why I cant go on many diets because coffee is a no no. I saw your pic on your profile, now get it on the avatar, you look great. Your weight seems to be distributed well. Now I like boxing too and not sure why. The last campground I was at was called Sunsport in Palm Beach. S2's dog is called a Carolina dog (swamp dog) aka American Dingo. We thought he was a mutt until I got several comments from dog enthusiasts, he loves his Grandma as I spoil him so .

Not sure what today will bring - think BF has to work 1/2 day and he's in rare form. S3 and I were going to go to a faraway mall as they have the store in WI I went to and bought him stuff he does not like ( so returns ) and I need him to drive so thats a possibility - we were going to go Sat until dog request came up. Back now iffy - did too much Sat.

Happy Sunday - going grocery shopping now.

Glad you have your pic up, E. It's always nice to place a face to the post! Makes it much more personable...for me anyway. I see that tattoo you were telling us about on your thigh. Looks pretty neat. Someday when I am thin (notice I didn't say IF) I would like to get a small rose or butterfly. I could only imagine what it would look like if I got it now while I was fat and then I lost the weight and it shriveled up!

Wow YH, sounds like you had quite the day with grandpuppy. Lots of exercise! Probably was good to get out of the house and escape for a few hours but I hope your back is not going to go out on you again. Would be nice if you and s3 go shopping today, spend some one-on-one time with each other. I'm sorry you're dealing with all these bf/s3 issues. Hard to be put in the middle like that.

T, have a nice lunch if you go to the Greek restaurant today. I love Greek food. Do you ever get their Greek salads? Yum!! Dh has never had a real one -- just one I've fixed for him but they don't have Greek restaurants out here so he's never eaten in one. Poor deprived guy!

SC, you are next with the pic!! We've waited long enough! (Sorry but you will always be SC to me and we already have a C, can't have another one and make it too confusing!)

I just transferred all my food over to the new refrig/freezer. Lots of space now. Of course dh was kind enough to point out that I have a Hefty trash bag full of crap that I found at the back of the old refrig and that's probably why I have so much more room in the new one.

I was not happy with the scale this morning. Lots of diet pop and hotdogs yesterday -- that salty food is not good for me when I am trying to lose weight. Gotta get tougher with my menu. Dh is making Eggs Benedict for the boys but I told him not to make me any. I need to stay away from those salty foods this week.

Spoke to a couple of my sorority sisters last night and they were interested in joining me in swimming at the town pool. Of course they are skinny-minnies but I've gotten over that aspect. Who am I trying to kid anyway?? When you weigh as much as I do, there's no hiding the fat under baggy clothes, and at least they know I am swimming to lose weight so they are very supportive. Maybe that's what I need to do -- start hanging out with the skinny crowd -- they must be doing something right!

It's a beautiful sunny day and I need to get some laundry hung on the line so I will stop rambling now. Happy Sunday ladies! D

Oh didn't mean to leave you out, Miss A. You need to get your picture up too! I hope you are enjoying your day. Or is it night there now? What is the time difference? That is very confusing to me...I finally have everyone's time zones figured out here in the States....now to add another country!!

Feeling Shakespearian...

Hello girls!

I speak to you from

"This royal throne of kings, this sceptr'd isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars
This other Eden, demi paradise
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war
This happy breed of men, this little world
This precious stone set in the silver sea
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or, as a moat defensive to a house
Against the envy of less happier lands
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England."

(Richard 11, Act 2.)

Well! Sorry about that! I once had to learn it by heart, and now it's stuck in my brain for ever. Don't know what Wm Shakespeare would make of modern life... he'd be very cross about the Channel Tunnel.

The diet is going well. Yesterday I felt really nauseated - strange. I wasn't actually sick though; you'd say "throw up", but we were due to visit my father-in-law and he does really appreciate being brought a cake, so I forced myself to make a fluffy sponge cake with jam and cream in the middle, and wasn't even remotely tempted to eat any. By the evening, I felt OK again, and ate:

Dinner: piece of salmon with homemade lemon mayonnaise, some tomato salad, green salad, just a few strawberries + cream. I was hungry by then!

Right now I am making a soup for dinner a la Dr A, but I don't like to thicken it with anything carbohydratey, so I'm trying some cauliflower in the mixture. It's his cream of spinach soup.

Goodness, how I wish we had Curves! It sounds a really excellent system of exercise. Perhaps some entrepreneur will export it! Have you heard of Power Plate? I understand from various magazines that Madonna is a big fan.

Just curious - have any of you ever considered liposuction, a lift, a nip or a tuck? I had breast reduction surgery when I was 23 - in those days there were no pretty bras for an E cup, just horrible giant old-lady things. This bliss of waking up in Recovery knowing that soon I'd be able to jump up and down, wear a teeshirt, etc! I don't remember a moment of pain at all.

Elaine, clever you to post a picture.. you look so young and glamorous! I loved hearing about your little cat Daisy. Ferdinand was a bit in trouble this morning. He bounced onto my bedside table, knocked over my lamp and radio, sent my book flying and I just caught my glass of water in time. Well done with the 3lbs! It was heartbreaking to hear about your grandbaby. I hope that childminder was struck off the register for ever and ever.

Denise! I have been thinking so much about that poor little boy Vonn. So hoping he and uncle will continue to do well.

Isn't it a relief that the fire is out Teresa? Horrors! Horrors! I suppose I could have sausages without mash, but I'll put it off until I've lost a few more pounds, as some of them have got breadcrumbs in, and some ingredient called "rusk".

Plans for my older daughter's wedding seem to be getting more and more complicated. What's more, the groom's mother is a tiny and glamorous blonde - imagine a size 6 in your sizing. Oh dear! I shall try not to stand next to her in any photos.

Help! Quick, the soup needs dealing with - might add a bit later - do very much appreciate our mutual support system - all round.

Hi, ya'll,

D, in 2005 I registered under Claudette, my middle name, so when I regersterd again, I saw it had been taken, (forgot I was the one who had registered with it, picked a new name, SC. So, lets let it remain SC, I can sign my emails Claudette if you like.

YH, sounds like you had a great time with the grandpuppy last night. Still in my prayers for son/BF issues.

T, hope you are having a better day and so glad the fires are out.

E, wow, how glamorous you look. Love your blond hair.
Originally, I was a toe head blond, gradually became ash blond, then has gotten ash brown the last few years. No grey however, my Mom's side of the family is to blame for that. I have added highlights in the past, DH hates them, so now I leave it natural.

A, I can "hear" your accent when I read your post. Brings back great childhood memories of my Great grandma I was so close to. Hope you are feeling better today.
I have considered plastic surgery, but want to wait untill I lose all my weight.
I told DH when I got back to as "low as I can go" I want the now sagging chest lifted & the tummy tucked. Of course, I will have to save the money up also.

C, hope you are having fun. We miss you.

Here is today's menu:
breakfast: coffee w/ cream from starbucks, one tiny bite of Dh's scone
snack: whey protein mixed with water, fiber added
lunch: grilled steak, tossed veggie greeen salad w/ lc dressing, grilled yellow squash, leftover red cabbage from last night.
dinner: will be taking it with us as DH & I go to voice lessions, classical, on Sunday night, we get back too late to cook.
ham & cheese sandwiches on lc bread, raw veggies, sf jello, tea w/ lime

Well, got to go.

Talk to you all later.

Well, I finally got the picture thing figured out. I didn't have one of the avatar buttons marked and I lost everyones picture! You're all back now Thank you all for all the wonderful compliments You are such a wonderful group,I am so lucky to have found you.
D,glad you got the new fridge up and running.I have alot of stuff in mine I need to throw out but I hate to waste it.(I went to Catholic school and I'm ruined forever)
Dh won't eat it and I can't eat it on LC.Oh well I can't feed the starving children so I guess I'll toss it. I hope Vonn is continuing to improve.I will keep him in my prayers.Do you weight everyday? I can't do that.I get too frustrated with the ups and downs.I hope
you can get your air fixed tomorrow.I know its rough.Ive been without before and it's no fun.
A,loved your Shakespeare.I didn't learn much of Him in school but I do enjoy poetry. It sounds like you have a mischievous kitty. When Daisy was a kitten she literally climbed the walls, via the drapes. She was wild! She even tore up the blinds. She's calmed down some now and shes a sweetie. She loves to spread across my dog's bed and he just looks at her with a disgusted look. They get along pretty good. Your soup sounds delicious.I love spinach and califlower. When is your daughter getting married? I look awful in both my girls wedding pictures I wish I had been thinner also.As far as plastic
surgery goes,I would love to have my eyes done.I guess we all are feeling the effects of
aging and it sucks
Sc,it sounds like you are back on track.Keep it up and you'll be ready for our weigh in Sat.
I've had a busy day today. We were gone all day on the bike.Had a nice ride.Ate lunch at
a resturant on the River.Nice view, they had paddleboats going by us.Ate dinner at Crackerbarrel and got steak instead of my usual chicken&dumplings but it was still good.Being from the south I love my sweet tea with lemon, but I got the unsweet and
used splenda. It's just a matter of making different choices and thinking about what you eat before you stuff it in
T,I hope you had a nice day
C,Miss you,Hurry back
YH,Sounds like you enjoyed your ds's dog! You asked about going to the beach.I grew up in Jacksonville,Fl.and my Grandmother had a house near the bch.I spent alot of time there with my friends. Now I am paying for it,as I have had skin cancer taken off my face
at least 6 times.I have lost count.I just keep going back when it pops out.I don't go
outside without alot of sunblock! Hope you had a good day!

Oh Elaine, I know what you mean about not wanting to waste food. Dh wanted to pitch everything but I held onto some things. Don't know why -- they are WW frozen meals and he won't eat them and I can't now that I'm doing low-carb but I couldn't throw them out. (Wish YH lived closer!) I didn't go to Catholic school but was raised in an Irish/Italian Catholic clean-your-plate type of family. Probably one reason I am so big -- could never throw any food out. But I'm slowly changing my habits even though sometimes it kills me!

I Cracker Barrel. Steak was a good choice. Dh got the chicken and dumplings last time we went there. I think I got some kind of grilled chicken. (Obviously it wasn't that great if I can't even remember it!). We live 5 hours from the nearest Cracker Barrel so fortunately I don't have that challenge often. I do better with buffets -- then I can pick and choose the healthy things and still feel like I'm getting enough to eat. Sorry to hear about your skin cancer.

Today's menu:

B-drink potion, coffee
L-turkey meatballs, tossed salad, fruit salad
D-buffalo chicken, mussels, cauliflower

Plastic surgery...hmmm. I am still so fat, I don't have all the wrinkles as of yet. Maybe my mind will change once they appear. But I guess I would rather figure out a way to live with the flaws than go under the knife. Surgery scares me and I don't think I could go thru with it unless it was absolutely necessary. But...never say never.

Ds2 just headed off to the ranch. Ds1 will leave in the morning. My friend called and we're going to Curves tomorrow. I need to get back in the swing of things.

SC, hope you had a fun night singing. Are you and dh in a band or choir??

So YH, did you spend the day shopping with s3? I haven't seen Jane Eyre in years but I love that movie. Couldn't watch it now. Wouldn't want to give dh any ideas.

T, how was your wkd? I hope those fires are all out by now.

C, are you checking in before you head off to visit your cousin? If so, I hope you have a good visit, filled with lots of happy, loving memories. Did you have fun around the campfire? I was thinking of you -- miss your good morning posts!!

Good news for little Vonn. The liver transplant surgery Friday night was a success. Uncle is finally sitting up and sipping on broth. He was in tremendous pain yesterday but today was a little better. Little Vonn opened his eyes today for the first time. He's been in and out of consciousness but the dr's want it that way, so that it's a slow awakening rather than a quick, anxious one. By this afternoon, Vonn managed to tell his mom that he loved her. Thank God. They both have a long road to recovery but at least the future is more promising now than a few days ago.

Have a good night ladies! D

Well forget about Curves. Friend called at 10 pm to cancel. Actually, she called to say she was bringing her neighbor girl. I reminded her the gym has a "no kids" policy so she cannot take her. I won't go alone as we take turns driving to save on gas money since it's an hour's drive each way and we only stay about 45 min so it hardly seems worth the gas money if we aren't sharing the ride. Oh well. Guess I will burn off some calories with housework.

For exercise on Sunday I got in the pool, I had company with a neighbor gal so did not do my laps counts but treaded water with fins/gloves on. Neighbor gal plans on starting a diet, my age, and put on like 60 pounds since the menopause deal so the whole conversation was dieting of course. Encouraged her as much as I could. Today ill work a half day and and get sick - go with s3 to body shop off dump off car, he insists he can rent a car but I am saying he cannot because if they look at his license its coded that he has to have the blow device on, if they missed that and something happened he would be in big trouble. He just does not get it. Im up for plastic surgery - you guys can start a fund for me It is so prevalent here.

Miss A, your poem cracked me up not sure why. How tall are you Miss A and when is the wedding ? Now if you get to goal I would think you would be a size 6 unless your very short or our American sizes run very big which we figured they do. Never heard of power plate but sounds difficult.

SC-voice lessons-where are you and dh singinging ? Your menu looked good and whats a toe head blonde - never heard that term.

I would have gladly taken those ww meals off your hands D ! I am so glad things are moving in a positive direction for Vonn. Blast your music today and try to dance and clean. I want to start to do Curves at least twice a week-I think it really helps-I may get the new pass thing too.

Hello T and C !

E-sorry about the skin cancer-surprised I dont have-I dont lay in the sun anymore but do get enough in the pool and in and out of the car, probably why I have too many wrinkles too. I just cant be bother with sunscreen and I have an oily t zone and in summer its really oily no matter what I use. I went to school with the nuns too - my knuckles are still bruised How nice to go for a bike ride, I would really enjoy that if my back would be ok on a bike. Bf rented one in some cruise port we were in and it tipped as he thought he was Evil Knieval on dirt roads and I got all bloody and bruised.

Sun
am-slice of turkey breast
lunch-peach and apple
dinner-ground sirloin patty and green beans ( tacos for guys )
snacks- fruiti, pretzels, quaker cakes

Good Morning Everyone I actually got up an hr earlier (6am) so I could get moving sooner.I want to take my walk before it gets too hot.Today is strictly protein. One day a wk.no veg.or fruits.I really don't get hungry very often on this diet.Protein stays with you a long time.Has everyone heard of "Hungry Girls.com"? It's a great site for new food reviews and food comparisons.Lots of recipes to.This site is good for more than diet.I'm
having to think twice about how to spell thingsMaybe it will keep us from getting Alzheimer's(I had to look this up in the dictionary) Everyone have a Good
Day! I will check back later.

YH, that was nice to have company in the pool. Especially with someone who's interested in losing weight. Maybe you can encourage each other. It's hard not to have a weight loss buddy. I don't know what I'd do without you gals. None of my other friends are watching their weight. Friend that I go to Curves with has actually gained since we joined. She is about 250 lbs and is Diabetic but has that "oh well who cares" attitude and eats whatever she wants. I think she is slipping about wanting to go to Curves too. Might have to bite the bullet and start going on my own if she continues to cancel on me. I don't mind going alone, but it was so much fun having someone to go with, chat with during the long rides to and from, go out for salads afterwards, etc. Now it will just seem like another chore to be done and I know how I am, not motivated about exercise if I don't have someone pushing me along. So you are playing hooky this afternoon?? I think you are right about s3 and renting the car. What is a blow device on the car? At first I thought you were talking about a breathalyzer but never heard of one being attached to a car??? Or maybe I am being dumb and reading your post wrong. Pls explain to this thick-headed person.

Yes E, I get on and off the scale way too much. I am very neurotic about it. Elated when it goes down, depressed when it goes up. I can't stop myself but it does help me to stay in check. When I see the scale #'s moving up, I know it's time to tighten my belt. I only go by my Saturday readings, so it's a once-a-week weigh-in "officially" but I do hop on and off thru-out the week. Most times thru-out the day! Hope you got your walk in before it got too hot.

I had such a headache last night from the heat. It rained a little during the night so that cooled things down a bit, fortunately. Hope dh can find someone to come out and fix the a/c soon. He is going to call around today. It's making me really irritable and cranky -- which I'm sure is an incentive for dh to find a repairman SOON.

T, I missed your post last night! Hope everything is okay!!

Well, I hope you ladies have a good day today! I will write more later, I'm sure. D

E, I tried to get into that Hungry Girls site but all it has is a little statement and then "Convergence Coming Soon," whatever that means. I can't get into the website itself.

I get the hungry girl emails daily E, that is a good site. You are being very good with your diet and exercise by the way !!

The blow thing is called an ignition interlock device. Looks like a big cell phone and you have to blow into it to start the car, then it randomly beeps to blow in it while you are driving, then you have to take the thing in once a month to have it read, thats a hundred bucks a pop. Thats not good news about your friend D, you will pass her soon on the weight. I wish you had someone to go with who was gung ho, you will be fine going alone if need be. Is there no getting thru to your friend, maybe her health is not bad enough, does she not want to look nicer ? Maybe she is hiding behind that attitude. I would be lost without you guys, dont want to get close to neighbor gal as she is a closet alcoholic and turns into a jeckle/hyde, she could be screamin at you the next day for no reason. Off to play hooky and hopefully can have a decent day with S3.

Okay looks like you already know about this site! Well thanks for hooking me up, E. I will give it a read.

Well I guess I was not too far off in my thinking about the blow device thingie -- just had never really heard of it before. So if it's on his license and he is pulled over driving a vehicle without it, does he lose his license or go to jail?? Is it on the car that got in the accident and is it transferable to other vehicles or a major thing that can only go on one vehicle permanently? Too many questions, I know.

Good morning ladies! Glad to see you all been blabbing away while I was gone.

Had a great time & the weather was good--one small rain storm each day so the temps were perfect. Last year when we went up it was record highs so the cottage was bloody hot (no a/c) & it was too hot to sit by the water. So we were 8 pretty crabby gals by the time we headed home. LOL! My eating was not on plan BUT it was not a pig out session either & that actually is a mile stone too. I had what I wanted but only a few bites. Skipped the pie cause it was store bought. Had my hotdog minus the bun. Ate the steak & salad but skipped the potatoes. That kind of a thing. Was glad to see that it all felt pretty natural--didn't automatically gravitate towards the starches. Did have my beer & the main bad foods were trail mix & cheese it's. I leave tomorrow morning for OH. So today is washing & packing & getting some food made for dh. Have gotten behind & am almost out of my own micro meals in the freezer. So I have a roast in the crock pot & made a cold pasta salad for him for dinners. He's not sure how to boil water but he opens a mean bag of Doritos and can nuke a tasty meal in the micro LOL D's grilling/cooking hubby he's not!

Oooohhh D that will be so hard to drive to Curves alone!! I just have to have a buddy or I am hit or miss w/the exercise. If I had a pool outside my door like Y I would be in it but that's cause I love it & it doesn't feel like anything to me but fun. You seem to be pretty much back on track Y, things have been so nuts for you since your vacation. I'm like 99% sure ds won't be able to rent a car--but you can never tell 'em anything! Hope he's still on the drugs & working his way down in dosage. He should be in the pool w/you working off some of his "withdrawal" stress. The weight losing neighbor could be a neat by buddy for you Y!!

I've always known tow headed blond to be an almost white blond. My dh was that way when he was a child.
But that's cause he's German--it's usually scandinavian's that have such lite blond hair.

So good to come home & hear that Vonn & his uncle are both doing better!! Can't imagine the lightness in that moms heart today!!! One of the gals didn't make it to our weekend as her 81yr old mom had fallen the day before & broke her hip & was in the hospital unconscious. They are very close & her dd is getting married next month so it's not a good time--course there is never a good time to loose your mom....

So your dd is getting married Miss A. Do you like future sil? Will they live anywhere near you? Yeah, we all want to be a size 6 at our kids wedding....

E that's scary w/the skin cancer. My sd & db have both had spots removed off their heads. I hate the tacky feel of sunblock but w/my skin condition I have to wear it--even on my arms in the car. But at least it allows me to be out in the sun a bit which I couldn't do before.

Love Cracker Barrel but never go. They give you way too big servings of things that I shouldn't have anyway....

Haven't eaten this morning yet as I'm not hungry but think I will have my fiber drink w/extra protein added before I go on to other stuff. Have to look in fridg/freezer
to see what I will have for dinner. Don't want to make anything for me as I won't be here the next couple days.

Well I can't comment on all the many things that happened while I was gone--but I read & enjoyed every word you guys wrote!!

corrisann

Back, C!!! You were missed! Wow you did amazing with your eating. Good for you!! I don't think I could have gone and not had a few beers either but you did great in passing up the pie and potatoes. I think that was the trick -- indulge in the things that you really wanted and not every single thing you could have had!

I am sitting here with my melt belt on. Got the dishes done but after a wkd with both boys around, there's lots of pots and pans that need scrubbing too. Meals are so much simpler when it's just me and dh to worry about. I did a good amount of laundry yesterday so today I will focus on picking up the mess the boys left behind and try to straighten up this house. I'm still suffering in the heat so it's hard for me to move around but dh called our local HVAC guy and he said he would take a look at it. He isn't sure it's something he can work on but if not, maybe he will have a name to give us. Of course, he's pretty busy and could only say it would be sometime this week....so who knows when it will be. Guess maybe I should put a bra on just in case I luck out and he shows up today -- wouldn't want to scare the guy away!!

Have 1/2 doz eggs boiling. Figured that would be good to have onhand and ready for a snack for the next few days. I found myself reaching for cheese or pepperoni too much last week and boy that pepperoni tastes good but it does more damage than good for me.

Bye for now -- D

C, so glad you had a good time and did really good on your eating. It's hard when you're away from home and now you're getting ready to go away again! Take care and join us when you can.We missed you.
Now you ladies are going to laugh at me.We are going to have a yard sale at the campground in July, never did that before, but we have about 300 VHS movies that I'm going to try to sale for a buck apiece, but first dh wants me to go through all of them and
make sure I can get them all on dvd.I buy alot of movies from Amazon.com so I'll check there. Their like 8 tracks and cassettes. No one wants them anymore. We are such a wasteful society, but thats progress. You see what a busy life I lead Oh well,it is something to do!

Wow, E, you mean you have 300 VHS movies in your RV? That's amazing! Love the pic--sure wish I had your beautiful mane! How's the all-protein day going? Then what do you get to eat tomorrow? Glad you had a nice ride to dinner on the river. Now what river was that? We don't have the Cracker Barrells out here, but it sounds like fun! Congrats on keeping up the walking! I'd love to have my eyes done, too, and my sagging neck and jowls perked up, but I'm too chicken. I think I'm going to try some of the laser wrinkle stuff, though, if I can get a deal.

SC, you have the most interesting sounding menus! Of course, we all are curious about the voice lessons--sounds so cultured! Where do you sing? Are you getting any exercise in?

Y, hope you had fun playing hooky today with ds! How long do they think it will take to get his car repaired? It's nice you have a friend who will join you in the pool, and is interested in losing weight. Does she want to try WW? You are a great advertisement for its success! Glad you had fun with your grandpuppy, he sounds like a real cute dog!

It looks like we both took dogs to the park on Sunday--I got brave enough to try walking the two blocks to our neighborhood park with Poodie, convincing dh to come along. Then we walked around the neighborhood a couple of more blocks and met a lady who was out in her yard with her white poodle. She was so excited to see another miniature that she called us over and we had a nice chat. After that, we walked along the street toward home and found a tree with small ripe plums on it. And some loquat trees. We felt like kids eating the fruit off the trees, so that was my big Sunday adventure! Oh yeah, D, Poodie is my nickname for Gena.

Y, that is so awful about your bf's work friend! I never heard of cancer around the heart! Diagnosed and gone one week later--no wonder your bf was freaked out!

I rarely go to the beach, even though we only live a block away. I can't walk in the sand; it's too hard on my feet and tendons in lower legs. Also, I can't handle too much sun. But we do have a nice walking path along the cliffs that are oceanside, and often we walk a little way on that just to look at the water and the surf. It's very picturesque, with the boardwalk and the mountains in the distance.

D, did I see you had some mussels to eat? That surprises me somehow; most people don't care for them. We get them out here fresh, but where do you get them in NE? Are they sold in jars like oysters? Glad to hear Vonn and his uncle are doing well--that was such a loving and brave sacrifice for his uncle to have made!

Sure hope you get your ac going soon! Maybe you'll have to go to Curves just to get cool! Too bad your friend is flaking out on you; I hope she comes to her senses and realizes she needs to do something for her health, too. It's so much more fun to go with someone and you need the support for such a long trek! Well, I guess you're going to have a spotless house this week! Hopefully you'll be able to go swimming with your sorority sisters; they seem like a great bunch of gals!

I did have the Greek salad again yesterday. They made the dressing too vinegary for me, though. They make the salad with romaine lettuce, feta cheese, tomatoes, bell peppers, greek olives, red onions, and of course with red wine vinegar and olive oil, and Greek spices similar to oregano.

I have to get tougher on my diet this week, too, D. I've been eating too much lc chocolate, and not counting carbs. I have not made progress on getting into my smaller jeans. So I put on my tighter pair today, and ate less for lunch and dinner, and exercised more. I'm going to try going to the gym 5 days this week. I'm thinking if I can eat a little less and exercise a little more, I should be able to wear my Elie Tahari jeans in two weeks!

Miss A, congrats on baking a delicious cream-filled cake and not eating any of it! You must have felt sick! Enjoyed the poem--it's fun to experience a bit of England from your side! We enjoy watching the BBC shows--Masterpiece theater, Mystery, etc.

C, glad you had such a wonderful weekend with the gals! Congrats on keeping the eating under control! After a year of doing this, at least we have learned how to eat without putting weight back on, and that's a very good thing, eh! We will have you in our hearts as you go on your visit to your cousin.

See you tomorrow! T.

I've Slipped Up!

A quick blast from me early before weighing and dressing.

Yesterday shopping, I remembered that Dr Atkins had recommended a few macadamia nuts for a hungry snack moment. I looked along the shelves and there was only a big bag of these macadamia nuts price £2.09. That's very expensive! So instead I bought a 100g (don't ask - I still can't think in metric for food - about 4oz) bag of cashew nuts, meaning to eat a few in the car.

I offered a few to TRoATU, who nibbled away and didn't want any more. then, I'm ashamed to say, my hand kept going back in the bag again and again until I'd eaten the whole lot.

Then I felt so cross with myself I thought it really doesn't matter any more. Who cares if I'm overweight? etc. So when we got home I drank a few glasses of red wine.

It was diet disaster.

I eventually cooked the dinner I'd been planning, which was beef made into homemade hamburgers, carrots and cauliflower, but the orgy of nuts/wine had made me realise that I had slipped up in a big way.

Sorry about this episode of despair - I'll write a proper reply later, but... oh
b*gger it all!
