Good Evening, Gals--

Let me add my greetings to you, Elaine--hope you had a fun ride and a lovely dinner! My dh likes to go out a lot, too, which can be challenging when it comes to eating low carb. There is always meat to eat, but it's all the other temptations that come with these meals that are the problem! But you should enjoy yourself on your birthday! Where did you end up going?

Looks like I am the old lady of the bunch here--got you beat by one year, E! sounds like you have an extremely nice family; maybe you're one of the lucky ones! I can't complain, really. My dh is wonderful; his kids are great and our girls are nice, and the grandkids are still young, although the oldest one has problems...but who wants to get into that!

Miss A, it's a shame you suffered so much loss of family. Sounds like your sister could take a lesson from D's and send some apologies and love your way! I've never had clotted cream, but I have had lemon curd, which is delicious, and way off the diet. Is that an English creation? Even though the scale hasn't moved, your friends are noticing that you're smaller, which might mean your scale is unreliable, or you have really great friends!

Y, glad the bag of chips is finally gone, and you're back in business! I'd be ecstatic if I weighed 136 though. Do you still want to get down to 120? How's your back doing? Maybe all the bed rest did your back some good? Hope you have a nice time at Curves tomorrow.

D, it is so wonderful to hear you say your MS might be in remission! Wouldn't that be fabulous! It could be that losing weight and eating better is lowering your inflammatory levels. I think this may be helping me, too. Although my feet aren't better, I have been able to stay off prednisone for awhile now, and I am getting along OK with my back and arms and legs. So let's hope for the best!

Sounds like you had a happier day today. Glad you're getting some nice sunny weather and may get to go swimming tomorrow and go to Curves. "In the zone," D--awesome! Your menu looked great; you're going to drop again soon, I bet.

C, you did 50 mins on the airwalker? That's just incredible! I can remember when we first started the diet last June it was hard for you to do even a few minutes on it! Look at your progress! Wow! The bean concoction sounded really good, too--a great way to satisfy the taco/burrito craving.

I went to the gym today and rode the bike after dinner. I don't seem to be making much progress now, though. So I think I'm probably going to have to cut out the fruit and go back to lower carbs for awhile. It's gonna be hard to give up the berries in the summertime, though! I'll try it for a few days and see if the measuring tape reads any lower. Well, g'nite all! T.

T - the gym and the bike, thats great-too bad about the berries. Its amazing you can do that measuring tape. I am not sure what my goal weight is exactly, depends on how everything comes together, I need to build more muscle, flab issues, belly....I will see as time goes by-I am thinking around 115or 110. Hard to say really.

Now how long does it take you to do the 3 m walk tape, because if I go the gym it can take me 45 min to do 1 mile ! But then again I put the incline button way up then down, etc. as I have read its good to mix up the cardio. Maybe if I did one mile on one speed I guess it would be faster but figure the incline is good.

Harley - ( Elaine ) ? My brother just retired from Harley in Wisconsin-what a sweet deal he got, he got out before more benefits cut. Are you a biker chic, what fun ! You walk 3 miles too, outside ? How long does that take ? Kinda wondering why it takes me so long on a treadmill.

So glad you got to Curves D and again today and swimming, I dont remember you going to the pool yet. The bunny defense system sounds good - hope it works for the bunnys sake. And eating in the car - thats a must !

Well never made it to Curves as someone hit s3's car while parked and that is a big fiasco now-cant get gas in it as all smashed in there, he is seeing the estimator today. Normally he would have been beserk but whatever this medicine is doing or just being off drugs his personality is way better. Outbursts, yelling, swearing, raging eyes, crazed, ect. subsided. His new addiction is playing poker in the bed on computer. I did manage to jump in the pool and did 25 laps in the rain, no thunder and felt good in the stinkin heat. Did a few callanetics too.

AM- potion, grapefruit w few blueberries
Lunch-kashi puffed cereal w blueberries and little ff milk, kirby cuke.
Dinner-baked salmon w cauliflower
Snacks, fruiti, lc ice cream sand., few pretzels

Good morning ladies!

Nice to see that menu back to normal, YH. Sorry about s3's car, what a bummer. But good that he took it better than usual. Signs of improvement! I think you are working harder and burning more calories when you put the treadmill on an incline, so it's probably best to do it that way. The quality of the workout sometimes is more important than the quantity. Although a 3 mile walk on an even level is a good workout too.

Curves is cancelled this morning. Friend called last night, said she has a funeral to attend. We're waiting to see what the weather looks like for the pool later today. Last night we had a terrible hail storm. Thunder, lightening, was a tornado in Hyannis, which is where the pool is. We have not gone to the pool yet because it has stormed everytime we planned to and the pool closes in bad weather around here -- too much lightening in this area. So we shall see.

Dh did not like my choices in bunny warfare. He says we don't need another sprinkler, the repellent will just wash away when the auto sprinklers come on, blah, blah, blah. Not very appreciative that I went to 6 different stores looking for all this stuff for him. The 75 cent pinwheels that I did not pick up were the only things he said I should have gotten. So ds2 is going to get them on his way home from wrestling camp this afternoon. Oh well, I tried.

T, you do seem to lose faster when you cut down on the carbs. I find that strawberries and canteloupe are about the only 2 fruits that don't raise my sugars if I eat them in small amounts. Keep up the exercising -- that is sure to help!! How are those pants fitting lately?? I don't know how you can stay away from the scale this much -- I would be dying of curiousity!!

C, that motion detector is a great idea. We're going refrigerator shopping tomorrow -- maybe we'll have time to look for one of those. But so far, the other bunnies have not come back. We have about 4 that live in this yard. Maybe dh killed the ringleader and the others are scared off now??

The buffalo wing sauce that I buy has 0 carbs and it is soooo good. Mmm. The wings I had at Applebee's last wkd were not zero carbs as my sugars were high later that day so C is right, sometimes restaurants add sugar to their recipes. Hard to tell. Hope you had a good b'day dinner, Elaine. What did you eat??

Looks like Lolly decided not to join us afterall. Too bad, she seemed very nice. But guess my "baby" status holds up now!!

Yesterday's menu:

B-coffee
L-1 sl deli chicken breast, 1 babybel lite, few sl pepperoni
S-1 babybel lite
D-steak, zucchini, salad, 3 strawberries w/cool whip
S-lc tortilla, 1 sl WW cheese, pepperoni

Okay I see E and C have joined us so I'm ending this now! Will post later.

Halfway thru the week gals -- we can do it!!

D

Good Morning Everyone! I'm dragging this morning, after all I am a year older I had a great time last night we found a Chili's about 20 miles away.I only had hot wings and they were wonderful! On the lean for life diet you stay on protein for 3 days and then you are allowed some fruits and veggies. Also some carbs at breakfast.I'm on day 3 of the protein, and I'm doing really good.I bought dh a pecan pie and wasn't even tempted.
All three of my girls called me last night for my bd,its been awhile since that happened.
I hate to say it but I think my dd2's illness is making her think about her family more!Even my ex-h got on the phone when dd3 called and wished me a happy bd!What a great day!

Yh, Why are you up posting so early? Do you have to be at work early or do you have trouble sleeping? I go to bed around nine, read a little bit and I'm out.I have to have my 8 hrs. My dh has to get up at 330a to go to work while I just lay my lazy butt in bed
Yes we have a 07 Harley. It's a softail classic and we love it.My dh has been riding since he was very young and he is very cautious so I feel as safe as you can feel on a bike!
It takes me about 50 mins to walk my 3 miles, but theres a BIG hill and I really slow down on that.I also have alot of the Leslie Sansone tapes and I love them.I have some new ones that I just got and haven't tried yet.I've been doing them off and on for yrs.Sorry
to hear about your ds's car,it sounds like you've had more than your share of problems,I feel like crying for you at least it sounds like the medicine is helping, that something to be thankful for.Your food plan looked really good,I love Kashi products too.Hang in there,we'll all be there for you in spirit

T,glad you could get to the gym.I would love to join a gym and have a personal trainer get my body in shape. That would be so great! Not one around here so, I'm on my own.
You're right about the fruit, sometimes it can stall a weight loss even though it is so good for you.

D,& Miss A, and C I missed you this morning! I hope you're all just busy and will talk to us later. D,I think it's a good idea for us all to weigh on Sat.and post our weight. It will give us some credibility.Something to make us hang on to the diet.Thats what always did it for me at WW.Well the dog is giving me sad eyes, time to take him out.I'll check back later.

Good morning all! Must be morning cause I have coffee in hand & keys under my fingers...LOL

Y I know you want to get as low as you can so that WHEN (not if) you quit smoking you can put the usual 20lbs on & be in a ok place with that. Glad you got in 25 laps!
Your menu looks like you were back on track w/your food too.

Well the food lists are rotating thru our emails re: Euchre weekend at the lake. So far it seems I've been delegated to bring coffee, cream, a pan of brownies, yogurt, and a box of Rosemary Oil Olive Triscuits, toilet paper & bottled water....LOL! That's what happens when you wait to see how things are shaping up to decide what you want to bring. The worst thing will be baking brownies. I think I have a box of Ghirardelli's double choc brownies back in the cupboard that I bought on a really good sale to take somewhere that didn't happen. Better check that out.
Sitting by the bonfire, drinking a Killian's Red w/o a cig...even after 2 yrs & 8mos that's a toughie....guess there are some moments that you will always miss lighting up

The 3mile wop w/wgts takes 45 min. When I walk to Bulk Foods to get my almonds & spices it's 3 mile & takes me a hour & a half round trip, so that's 45 ea way. But that's just walking not speed/power walking. I have a Health Ryder in the (now famous) basement that was very popular in the 90's. It is a real work out & yet very easy to do. So I think I will try going downstairs & doing 5 mins on it as part of my exercise. Can't stand more than that! When I got it years ago, when I thought I was fat at 170...., I built up to 20mins on it. Amazing that such an easy motion can be such a work out. And I'd be moving 70 lbs more on it now how the heck do we let it get so high before we do something about it????

T I have a couple friends that have that Plantar Fasciitis and both had the inserts made for their shoes & got almost 100% relief. They weren't cheap but were well worth every penny. Seems it would be better to try that before surgery.

Well I need to get a move on--it's 9:30 here so I'm pretty sure D has posted by now

Haha, I beat you C. Good morning! I have you ladies all on my buddy list so I check that when I sign on and you weren't there yet, so I hurried up and started typing but you & E showed up before I could hit send!!

I was posting when you were Elaine, that's why you missed me. Anyway...my dh owns a Harley too. I won't let him ride it. He is too wild and too much of a daredevil so it just sits in storage. Probably waiting for me to die so he can take it back out again. Glad you had a good b'day. Lean for Life. Never heard of it but it sounds interesting. So after the initial protein boost, then you go onto a low-carb way of eating??

C, I used to do 100 situps every morning and another 100 situps before bedtime. I was slim and trim back then. Geesh. I can't even do 1 now!!!

Just finished my walk.Waited to late and it was HOT.I need to get up earlier.I have no excuse, just lazy.I just learned how to use the smilie faces, can you tell I'm still working on the picture thing, maybe dh can help me when he gets home.

D, on the home page there is a breakdown of the Lean for Life diet. I went on it several
years ago and lost 16 lbs pretty fast. I like it because you can eat your carbs at breakfast and I love my cereal

Miss A where are you? You must be busy. I miss you. I hope you're not having problems
with your surgery you told us about. I had forcep deliveries also and I wonder if maybe that has something to do with my dd2's skull problem. You never know, they know so much more now than they did 40yrs ago.

Elaine, if you go to User Control Panel and then Edit Avatar, you should be able to click on "browse" and select a picture from your computer. I hope you can figure it out. I really like to put a face to the posts!!

Oh geez C, I forgot I have to quit smoking Thanks for the reminder, in that case I have to lose more I had to go have a smoke after I read your post about the bonfire and beer. The weekend sounds like too much fun. I recall the health ryder gizmo !

Ill have to check out lean for life when I have time. Im tired and dont want to do anything now. Pouring rain. That was a late post for me E - I have reverse insomnia - I am usually up at 2am or so but s3 has the computer in his bed now and im not on it as much as before at home for now. I start work at 600am. What part of Ill. are you in ? BF was born in Gardner, Ill. My nosy neighbor has a personal trainer for 3 yrs. now and looks the same and has not lost a pound ! Now she joined Curves. Not sure what diet she claims to be on How did dd's brain thing get diagnosed - I looked it up online, how serious is it as I seen various stages ?

You are such a meanie D not letting dh ride his bike but you know him best !I remember doing all those situps faithfully too - I would be in traction now with my back. That is some weather you have in NE , I never realized that until this board. My sister in law emailed all the wedding pics - too bad there is not a one of me That would have ticked me off too on the bunny warfare- I would most likely do something psychotic like buy a hundred and put em all up Speaking of psychotic I think I am feeling a bit better on the prozac but then again not sure with all the crapola going on. I will try to do one freeway exit at some point. I guess I will make chicken breasts for dinner, cant get back into cooking mode since vacation from hell.

Darnit YH, I was hoping to see a pic of you at the wedding! I wish you would update your avatar. I would to see the new and improved you!! I kept checking all day, thinking perhaps you'd surprise us. Glad the Prozac is working.

Yes I am a big meanie. We live an hour away from the nearest hospital.
No riding Harley = preventative medicine.

I just saw a bunny hop under ds2's car. Oh he better scurry out of here as dh is on his way home. Thought for sure those critters learned their lesson when they saw their friend's body laid out like that!!

No swim tonight. I was waiting on my friend and just called her house. She said no go. I think her dh was complaining that it's suppertime. That's fine since ds2 is home from wrestling camp and will be heading out to the ranch shortly, so we'll have more time together if I don't go out. Tacos tonight. I will make mine a taco salad minus the shell. Chicken breasts sound good, YH. Set an extra place for me.

Dh is taking the day off tomorrow and we are going refrigerator shopping. I have a sorority meeting at 3:30 so we will leave early in the morning and probably have lunch out before we head for home.

C, a 45 min walk to get almonds?? Are you nuts?? (No pun intended.)

Okay, just bored here and ds2 is "allowing" me time on the computer so thought I'd get a word in while I could.

Have a good night ladies! D

Hi, y'all,

Elaine(Harley g-ma) (belated). Will also keep you and yours in my prayers.

D, thanks for giving directions on editing a avatar. Will try it, so you can see how a 56 yr old looks. B'day in Oct 5, will be 57.

Miss A, your clotted cream, scones, description of Devon brought back many childhood memories. I was very close to my great grandmother whose parents were from Britain, she was born in the US. She scandelized her family by marrying a Scottish physician and migrating to Texas! She lived to be 100, I was 12 when she died. We had tea every afternoon I went to visit her. I can still hear the lilt of her Virginia accent. I have her crumpet & scone recipes which I treasure.

Yh, sorry to hear about S3's car, but glad he is taking it alittle better.

I am so tired today, this whole week has been extra busy for us at work.

Today, was not the best as far as my diet goes, but my stomach has been upset the last two days, (haven't been sleeping very well) and the ole' stomach tends to act up when I am sleeped deprived. Will get back on plan tomarrow.

Well, better go & hit the shower and then the bed. Only two more days of the work week.

So glad to have found you all. What great support !

Will post later.

Hugs,
Slendercate

Hi, Gals--

We took a drive up the coast this evening. It was beautiful. Had dinner at a coastal cafe in the little town of Davenport. I had a couple of lamb chops with asparagus and green beans. Service was slow, so we had a nice long time to gaze out the windows at the cliffs and the whitecaps as the sun began to shine golden on them. It's been so gorgeous here lately, but as I drove home I saw plumes of smoke billowing off the hills across the bay. Yet another forest fire! I feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful area, but I am sure glad I don't live up in the hills!

Sounds like you all had a nice day. E, you had a fun birthday and stayed on plan! Congratulations! So on lean for life, you have 3 days of only protein, then you eat fruits and vegetables? Then do you cycle back to just protein? Too bad it was too hot to walk and no gym to go to--is there any other exercise you can do? Are you in a small town?

Y, I can see you swimming your 25 laps in the rain and cooling off. Sounds rather inviting! You got your exercise in and got relief from the heat--a win-win! I can't imagine getting down to 110 again. That's how much I weighed when I was 30 and wore a size 4. Those days are lost and gone forever! That's so unfortunate about ds3's car! Did the person who did it stick around, or was it a hit and run? That happened to my car and whoever did it just split so I had to pay for it. Hope that didn't happen to him. It's so great he's feeling so mellow, and that you're feeling pretty good despite your recent disappointments. But If I'd lost the amount of weight you have, I's be ecstatic no matter what else was going on in my life!

D, I hope your bunny problem gets resolved with the pinwheels, you've been through too much with this! Unreal weather you have back there! Too bad you couldn't go swimming or get to Curves, but as fast as your weather changes, maybe tomorrow! A new refrigerator is pretty exciting--hope you find one you really like! What's the sorority up to now?

I did put on a pair of pants I haven't worn for awhile and they were looser today; but they are still size 14. The tape hasn't budged for a couple of weeks, so I am not even tempted to weigh myself because I am sure I haven't lost anything. Today I went real low carb, and am going to try that for as long as possible to get some of this fat off. I have been so much more relaxed since I quit weighing (duh), but I think it really is helping me to stabilize my eating and not want to binge. So if I can go lower carb for awhile now and get down to the next size, then add back a few more veggies and fruits til the next drive--that is my hope!

C, maybe you could pass the brownie requirement on to another gal. We all know it would take super powers to bake brownies and not lick the pan, beaters, etc. plus eat some to see if they taste as good as they smell! Good luck on this! I don't know what that exercise thingy you were talking about is, but I admire your gumption in wanting to tackle the thing. I have to say it sounds positively terrifying, so I hope we won't hear of some terrible scuffle with it! Take care, all! T.

T- you and dh do such romantic things ! How nice. Don't get discouraged - you'll be out of the 14's soon, I was stuck at that 14 for awhile. I dont know if its possible for me to get to 110 to be honest but its a nice thought. Im sure I would have to almost starve and exercise like a banshee. My office roomie is 5'4" , 105lbs, 72yrs (looks 55), and looks great- but I have seen her eating lettuce for over 20 yrs. now-no kidding ! Plus she walks faithfully every morning. She never got fat but has had to work it her whole life ! Ughhh. S3 chased the car on foot(he was out there) and then he stopped and he jumped on the hood - big bru hau but we have all the ins. info.

Good to hear from you SC, we are the same age, ughhh. Yes, it would be nice to have a pic !

Refrigerator shopping sounds like a fun thing to do and this is because the ice thingy broke I dont have an ice thingy on mine - I think its ancient and was here when I bought the place. I hope to get to Curves after work but weather is horrible in the afternoon - summer thunderstorms just about every day on the way home from work-typical summer Florida. Ya know I thought of your comment about looking in the mirror and not feeling like the blob - that is great. All I see is more wrinkles and sag since ive lost and hate it. I will look thru the wedding pics again, there were so many but I missed half of it at least. If not I will have BF take some pics of me soon which will be an ordeal

Wed.
am-grapefruit and blue berries, potion
lunch - green salad with 1 babybel and 1 kirby cuke
dinner- pk. chop and brocolli
snacks-fruiti, pretzels

Did a few callanetics

Ya know I thought of your comment about looking in the mirror and not feeling like the blob - that is great. All I see is more wrinkles and sag since ive lost and hate it. I will look thru the wedding pics again, there were so many but I missed half of it at least. If not I will have BF take some pics of me soon which will be an ordeal

Wed.
am-grapefruit and blue berries, potion
lunch - green salad with 1 babybel and 1 kirby cuke
dinner- pk. chop and brocolli
snacks-fruiti, pretzels

I am up early today. Woke up at 5:15 am and couldn't fall back asleep. Turned the a/c off last night cuz I was cold and it was too warm in the house this morning. I drank way too many diet pops yesterday and I am retaining water today. You can press on my legs and see the huge indentations it leaves. Ugh. I took a water pill this morning in hopes that it will get to work before we have to get on the road. Otherwise, I am going to be doing a lot of jiggling!!

YH, you reminded me that I haven't had that drink potion in a few days. I can't drink it today on the road, it's a 4 hour roundtrip drive, so I made sure to have some yesterday. Yummy!

Yesterday's menu:

B-drink potion, coffee
L-sl deli turkey breast w/cream cheese & pickles (roll-ups), 1/2 apple
S-1 babybel lite
D-taco salad, 3 strawberries
S-pepperoni, mozzarella, 2 sf freeze pops, several diet pops thru-out the day

Dh and I were sitting on the deck yesterday & our little neighbor boy walked by. He asked how Hannah was doing. He was surprised & upset to hear we had to put her down. I forgot he & Hannah used to take a lot of walks together. Made me cry.

Had another storm last night. We don't usually get this much rain. Extremely rare for us. But the ranchers have to harvest their hay in July so I'm sure they are happy for that moisture now. The lightening is very scary. We have hardly any trees so you can see that lightening touch ground and sometimes you can hear it crackle when it hits something.

Friend wanted to go to Curves today but I told her I can't go till tomorrow. Don't know if she'll want to since her daughter and family from Texas are coming to visit tonight for a week. I very well may have to bite the bullet and break out those Callenetic tapes. I keep forgetting I have them. (I need a little exercise motivation here, YH. Hint, hint.)

T, our next sorority project is a small one. We hold a photo contest at Windmill Days. WD's is a big fair our community has the last wkd in June every year. We have musical entertainment thru-out the day, talent contests, auctions, craft and food booths, etc. My sorority runs a photo contest where you submit your framed or matted picture of a Nebraska windmill. We hang all the entries up at the fair and ppl come by and vote on them. My sorority gives the winner a $25 cash prize plus the winning entry will be the photo depicted on next year's Windmill Days flyers and buttons. Last year dh had to set up our patio umbrella for me because it was so stinkin' sunny and hot, I about died sitting there all day long! After that we have a little break for July but then in August, my sorority runs the big Fair parade. We are responsible for announcing all the floats as they go by, putting them in specific order, picking 3 judges to judge the float entries, and we also pass out free pop to the crowd. That's a fun day too.

Well here's dh finally awake. I guess I will catch up with you ladies tonight since I'll be gone all day. Have a happy one!! D

P.S. Last night I was watching an old episode of Jon & Kate Plus Eight. The reality show where they have a set of twins and then do infertility again and end up with sextuplets. Anyway, it was showing the mother when she was pregnant with the 6 babies and told how her waistline had stretched to 52 inches and then it showed a pic of her belly after the birth of her babies. She was lucky that a plastic surgeon's wife saw the episode back when it first aired and offered her a freebie. But anyway, I got to thinking....my belly now is pretty close to what hers was back then. Yikes. Think maybe I have to save up for that tummy-tuck afterall, YH!!

Good Morning everyone.Today is day 4 of my LFL and I can have my wonderful Kashi cereal for breakfast but I'm scared If I start on carbs I won't do as good. I think I better wait awhile until I feel more comfortable.I'm really not missing the carbs yet.

SC I'm glad you're back. We can use all the encouragement we can get from each other.

YH, I wish you didn't feel so down about your self. You have so much going on in your life I'm sure it's hard to be upbeat but I'm sure you are beautiful. We are always the hardest on ourselves.Other people don't see us the same way. They see you're great personality and what a great Mom you are.Not so much the outside.Do I sound sickening? I don't like the mirror either but unless I have plastic surgery its not going to change. Remind me of this when I loose my 40lbs and my jowls are sagging!Right now I have lots of fat to hold them up

T,what a wonderful time you had last night! Thats the kind of thing we like to do on the bike. When we were on the Oregon coast we would try to find little restuarants that looked out over the ocean. I always try to eat outside if the weather permits.

C, you were taking about cooking a meatloaf and heating up the kitchen.Does anybody out there have a convection oven? There was one in this new camper we just got(did I mention We live in a camper while on the road) and I love it! It cooks in half the time and doesn't heat up the place. I can cook frozen biscuits in 11 mins.and they brown too. What a neat invention! It's a microwave, convection, and what they call a half time oven all in one! Hope you manage to get in some exercise today.I have to admit I hate it too.I'm just lazy but I know its a neccessary evil

D,I hope you find a nice refrigerator. There so expensive now. This camper actually has 2!
I didn't think it was neccessary but I manage to use them.Sorry you didn't get to go to Curves or swim but a least you got to spend some time with your son

Miss A, Where are you?

D, I was posting when you were.I just read about the festival.I love windmills! I have a weird fetish about them.I love the bigger ones( but not the modern looking concrete ones) I get excited everytime I see one and have to point them out to my dh.I have a small one, about 7 ft at home, but I want a big one.Maybe when I actually get to live in my house I can get one. They just say country to me and I love the country!
