Well isn't this nice to have all these posts to read this morning.

T, I hear what your dietician is saying but....I think your menus are very well balanced and I don't see that you are eating too little?? Did you write down everything you ate and she is still thinking that? I'm not saying you're eating too much but I don't look at your menu and think...my goodness that gal must be starving. You seem to eat a good amount at each meal plus snacks. Vegetables do have carbs in them, and you eat them with every meal so I don't think you're going too low. (I also wonder if you think you are eating less carbs than you actually are -- restaurants add a lot of hidden carbs to their dishes.) If you were just maintaining your weight, I'd say add more carbs in. But I think if you want to lose weight, you need to go low-carb now and slowly bring more carbs back into your diet AFTER you have reached goal. I don't plan to eat so little after I reach goal, but to get there, I must. Yes, this is your lifestyle but...every food plan has an initial "lean" time. In Atkins, there is Induction, in South Beach there is Phase I. I look at this time as your "lean" time since you seem to need that "kickstart" and then once you get closer to your goal, then you can start eating a little more. If you were a fast loser, I'd say you were close to goal now, but you seem to lose so slowly that I'd hate to see you start gaining weight now, especially when you've been doing so well. (But of course, I am not a professional, so what do I know???)

YH, when your dr told you that he does a rectal exam too, "unless you object," you should have told him, "Actually that's why I came in today. I've been looking forward to it." I would have loved to seen the look on his face then.

I take 2000 units of Vitamin D daily. Helps with leg cramps, builds better teeth and bones, and it helps immune systems, so it benefits both my Diabetes and my MS. I've gotten dh to take it too but wish he had done so sooner and maybe he wouldn't be having all these teeth problems.

Okay, now I am picturing YH in the produce section, sliding the head of lettuce over, and trying to climb onto one of those hanging scales.

I'm going to Curves today. Finally. I feel like it's been forever since I went! I will have to think about when I should have the potion today. So far, it's not really kicking in and I'm disappointed in that aspect, but on the other hand, I don't want it to kick in while I'm bopping around at Curves!! So maybe I will wait till tomorrow before I have it without the protein powder because I'd like to be near a bathroom just in case and I agree, that must be what is "stalling" me in that aspect. But I'm determined to use this potion because it cost a lot...between the protein powder, greens blend and psyllium husk powder....it came to $41. So yep, losing weight is pretty pricey but hopefully it will be worth it in the end!!

Glad to hear your back is better YH!!

Nearing the end of the week....looks like I've lost a little, not much, but anything is better than nothing! Hope everyone has a great day! D

Hi, y'all,

C, I have never tried some of the "foundation" garments you mentioned, but you could be an ad writter for them. Makes me want to look for them.

T, get to feeling better soon. I used to love the jar pimento cheese also.
Now, I make my own, here is my recipe.

Homemade pimento cheese:
1/2 c. grated cheese(1/4c. mozerella or montery jack, 1/4c. colby or cheddar, cut into smaller pieces with a knife
small jar pimentos, diced
1/8 c. stuffed green olives, chopped
1/4-1/2 c. real mayo

Mix all above together in a large bowl. Chill covered.

Serve on romaine lettuce leafs or shredded lettuce or slice of lc bread.

YH, I lose weight very slowly! I eat atleast 60 grams protein/day, with 30-40 grams carbohydrate, no starches though. The lc plan is the only way I can lose any weight at all.

D, glad you love Curves. It really seems to work for some. I also take Vitamin D, helps to aborb calcium better, plus all the items you mentioned.

Today: I am the lightest I've been in years by the scale.
I think I have finally broken the stall I was in. Official: 20 lbs gone, can hardly believe it!

Here was today's menu:
atkins shake, lc toast, tea
scrambled eggs( breakfast at work), sausage link
large chef salad w/ lc dressing
boar's head ham, few tiny dill pickles
dinner, planned:
t bone steak, green salad w/ lc dressing, asparagus, sf jello

Have a great one, all.

Hey ladies! Busy long day but I finished it up w/ a nice long bath so I'm kinda prunie LOL!! Wish I had a nice soaking tub--just have the old plain straight style that's been around since people threw out their tin tubs & it isn't very comfortable. Maybe some day before I'm too old to climb in & out... LOL!

Stopped at WalMart on my way home & got some of the good Blue Bunny ice bars that are sf lc. Also bought a loaf of lc bread--probably be sorry as so few bread things are eatable & it cost 3$ but I saw it & thought toast w/my eggs how nice. Got a box of the SB protein bars--much cheaper to buy a box of 6 then to pay the $1.79ea. The cinnamon creme was pretty good w/my cup of coffee.
I saw the WW's cheese slices D & they matched up count wise w/Kraft's 2% milk slices, & they cost more than the Kraft. Now I'm wondering if I should take some vitamin D?? Boy we sure encourage each other to spend lots of money don't we

That pimento cheese sounds interesting. Should try making some. D has her lc bran ckrs to use & I think it would go good w/my celery sticks. Have you found a decent lc bread SC?? And congrats on the low point!!! That's great incentive to keep with it

My Fri plans completely changed & now my folks are coming in. I have to be home to wait for a delivery for dh, & we're not picking up ds until Sat morning. So my dad is like what are you gonna feed us for lunch since we will be sitting around waiting for the delivery?? So I was scrambling thru the kitchen looking for something that would work for me & them. Decided to get out my expensive spag sauce & my ww pasta & make a mosstacoli kind of a dish. Have texas toast in the freezer that I could make for them and green beans. So the panic attack passed! We have to take out some friends that are in visiting from Japan on Sun so that's all the challange I need over the weekend.

Today's menu:
bkft=coffee w/cream 2 tky brautwurst
L=tuna salad v8
S=SB protein bar
D=burger patty w/cheese artichoke salad
S=v8 sf lc ice cream bar

Well, congratulations, SC, on your 20 lb. loss and being at a lower weight than you have been in years! How did you break your stall? Or did your weight just finally drop without doing anything special? Thanks for the pim. cheese recipe! Here's something easy enough for me to do! How long did it take you to lost the 20 lbs.--have you done it all at 30-40 g. carbs?

D, the dietitian was not concerned with the amount of food I am eating, just the number of carbs. I told her I have been trying to keep it around 20 a day, although I think it's like you said, since I eat out a lot there's probably a lot of hidden carbs in restaurant food. So I told her it's probably more like 30 or so, and she still said that's awfully low and wanted me to add a little. She just feels that I won't be able to carry off such a low carb plan for very long, and I'll be feeling too deprived, then I'll go off and binge and gain all the weight back. Also, she's concerned I'll lower my ability to digest carbs, although we agreed it's evident I already can't handle very many at this point! We talked about all the meds available, but she advised me to try to stay off of them as long as possible. But she did say that Metformin and Byetta can help you lose weight. Have you taken either of these?

Congrats on the potion finally doing its job, D! And on the scale going down! Hope you had a good day at Curves--did your friend go with you?

C, congratulations on your friend being pregnant--you'll be enjoying the new baby, too! You gals will have more company to keep you busy when you go shopping and out to lunch, and you'll be burning more calories trying to keep up with two young children! When's the baby due?

Y, glad your back is feeling better--did you swim or go to Curves or the gym today? I remember no nonsense--I used to wear those when I used to wear dresses. Let us know how the shaper works out. Your new hair color sounds perfect! Hope the color holds for the wedding! It's amazing the number of medical tests they've been putting you through! I get so tired of going to doctors, but you all are reminding me that I need to get some things done, like I haven't had a mammo in a couple of years, or my cholesterol checked in who knows how long. Hate to think what that is. Or a colonoscopy. Yikes! Good luck when ds's friend visits--things were just starting to calm down a bit for you!

I went to the gym two days in a row! Yay! I was sore and tired yesterday, but I felt much better today, so I tried it, just took my time and had a good workout. I told the dietitian how hard it is for me to lose weight, and she encouraged me to try to add a little more exercise at the gym and riding my bike a few more minutes at home. So I am trying! Yesterday's menu:

B - egg yolk, bacon, spinach
L - salad, pork chile verde, strawberries, mango, wh cr (small amount)
D - chicken thigh, asparagus, zucchini
S - smoked gruyere, almonds

Have fun tomorrow, everyone! T.

Vitamin D - well I guess we need to buy that too, I would think living in FL. I get enough D with the sun - the gyn even emailed me an article on Vit D and why we need it-ill look at my liquid vitamin bottle and see how much D is in it. He was pushing the Citrical vit d and calcium pills too. Another pill ! Ok, who takes vitamins and which ones ??? I also heard if you take the CQ10 it helps with dental issues . Sounds like everyone is doing good this week. As the day went by my back started feeling iffy again so no exercise at all this week so far-very frustrating-have not looked at scale. Great going on the exercise T. Ill be going for a hair again the day before my flight, I go every 3 wks. because of the white, 2 wks would be better but its the money. Never tried the bunny ice cream C, been doing the healthy choice lf, same as ww and cheaper. Hope you made it to Curves D. Congrats on the 20 lbs SC, sorry loss is so pokey. My boss left early Wed. not feeling well and ended up having quad bypass yesterday so there will be more work and no overtime. I know-all the med tests-its all C's fault-now C did you call the hand dr. yet ?

Thurs
am-orange and grapefruit, potion
lunch-salad w 1 egg and 1 babybel
dinner-chicken breast and veggies
snack-2 fruitis, popcorn

Good morning!
Well the laundry is washing & the house is picked up so I am set for the delivery men & my folks. Time to have my coffee & sit down for a minute.

That's great on the exercise T!!! I'm sure that slow won't matter as long as you are doing it. And see your body felt better. Our bodies really weren't made to sit & not fuction.

Yes YH I did check out the hand dr---she's not in my insurance providers list. So I will have to talk to the docs office & see who else they recommend. I'm suppose to talk to the office today to get the run down on all my test results. I've heard enough to know that everything was ok. This is the details talk I guess.

Phones ringing gotta run

YH, I took the potion late yesterday and could only manage one swallow without the choc. Oh my that was nasty!!! (Dh asked why I bothered -- he could mow the lawn for me for free if I was going to eat grass clippings anyway). I added a tiny amount of the protein powder for flavoring and then it was okay. It worked really well after that. Tell me though....when does it stop working???

Yesterday's menu:

B-sausage patty, coffee
L-salad with diced chicken
S-drink potion
D-meatballs, broccoli, lettuce
S-olives, roast beef, lc pita

I take 1 multi-vitamin and 1200 units vitamin D (my multi-vitamin has 800 units so that brings me to 2000 per dr's orders), and 1000 units cinnamon. I also take a low-dose baby aspirin daily. My dr has me on a prescription potassium too. Plus of course all my meds for Diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux, etc. Do you spend a lot of time outdoors, YH? I read where you need 15 min of sunshine every single day in order to get the recommended dose of vitamin D. Most of us live in climates where that is not possible year-round but I would think Florida weather would allow for it.

T, I have been on Metformin for years. You lose a few lbs starting it but it's not ongoing weight loss. I tolerate that med extremely well and have good luck with it but my mom and my dh have such diarrhea every time they take it, as do many ppl, so it's something you have to try for yourself and sometimes you have to up the doses slowly because it can upset your tummy. Never heard of the other med so don't know about that one. Good job on the exercise!

Congrats SC on your 20 lbs! Love reaching those milestones!!

Went to Curves yesterday and I was sore -- think because I hadn't been in so long. But it was a good workout and I'm glad I went. Friend wants to go again today but I cannot do 2 days in a row yet -- just too painful for me, plus I (finally) got my tom last night and I am bloated and crampy this morning.

My sorority sister and I got together yesterday to work on favors and decorations for our murder mystery luau. I'll finish up today and over the wkd since the party is next Wed. So much to do, so little time.

Ds1 will be coming home tonight so that will be nice. I think we will do some shopping this wkd. Ds2 is looking for a laptop computer and I need a pr of shorts to wear under my hula skirt. Ugh. I have not worn shorts in public in years but there's no way I am going without them!!

Happy Friday ladies! D

P.S. YH, some vitamin d pills come combined with calcium so that might be something you could look into, would save taking yet another pill.

Well everyone has come & gone & here it is 7pm already...
boy the fun days just fly by!

Had a good visit with my folks of course. The dinner worked out well. Had peach applesauce for them & took the 2 pieces of the pineapple upside down cake out of the freezer for them. So one more meal survived Guess for us foodies life is one meal at a time LOL! The baked mostaccoli was good--really had to fight the feeling I was cheating so that I didn't eat stupid stuff later on..so the $5 spaghetti sauce was good, ha! And this brand of ww pasta was good, not that strong flavor that some have & I got it on sale for 70cents.

Todays menu:
Bkft=coffee w/cream ham & 2% cheese slices
L=mostaccoli cottage cheese green beans
S=SB raspberry bar & more coffee
D=1 tky brautwurst cottage cheese 4 pickles 1oz 2% cheese

need to find some other good proteins so that it's not so much meat meat meat cheese cheese cheese
Course I love meat & cheese but I know I need to find something else. Having the nuts so limited is a problem snack wise.

Will be back later to hear how everyones Fri went & what's up for your weekend. YH did you high tail it to the other side of FL??

Sounds like you had a nice dinner with your parents, C, and stayed on plan too. The $5 spag sauce worked out good -- betcha didn't mind spending the money since you fed several ppl with it. I haven't seen the WW pasta in the stores -- I'll have to check it out. How many carbs per serving? I keep trying different kinds of pasta in hopes that I'll find one that will work with my Diabetes. I found some yellow cake mix and choc cake mix made with Splenda -- Pillsbury -- but it was almost 30 carbs per serving and that's no good for me.

If you find some good proteins, let me know. I am getting tired of meat & cheese too but other than cottage cheese, I'm at a loss here. Shrimp is ok every once in awhile but I'm looking for a filling snack that is good for me besides the almonds, which are too dangerous for me. I can't seem to stop at just a few.

Today's menu:

B-coffee, 1 sl bacon, drink potion
L-2 lc crackers, 1 sl WW cheese, cauliflower
S-pepperoni
D-haven't eaten yet but thinking of making up some shrimp & broccoli

So what are everyone's plans for the wkd? C, are you going to get your son?

We are going to town tomorrow. Need to get some flowers for dh's parents' grave for Memorial Day and I hate to wait till the last minute, they're all picked over by then. We'll probably go out to lunch too. I don't know if ds1 and ds2 will join us, but would be nice. We haven't gone out the 4 of us in a long time.

Ds2 is having a cookout and party on Wed to celebrate last day of school. Of course that is when I have my big luau but dh said he will chaperone the kids till I get home, which should be around 10 pm. I told him chaperoning does not include falling asleep at 8 pm.

Well time for me to get my feet up for a little bit. I will check back later in hopes that YH and T have popped in to say hi.

D the whole wheat pasta was Ronzoni Healthy Harvest.
Anything like this or the cake mixes are just for the special meal obviously. But at least it does allow it to happen sometimes. Glad to hear they have choc in the cake mix. Will buy a box in a couple months & give it a try for a special treat.
Back to the pasta. Counts were: 2oz dry=
180 calories
Calories from fat 5
Total Fat 1g
Saturated Fat 0g
Trans Fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg
Carbs 42g
Fiber 6g
Sugars 1g
protein 6g

I ate about 1 1/2C of the mostaccoli, which of course wasn't all pasta. And you're right about the sauce as the 3 of us ate, then dh had some for dinner and there was enough left to make up 2 boxes for his work lunches. Just seems so high when you're looking at the $2.99 jar thinking oh yeah that's right, take out the sugar & salt and raise the price....LOL!! I remember 3yrs ago when the Dreamfields came out & all the whooped-e-do on the lc sites about it. Best thing for diabetics is that it doesn't seem (in most folks) to raise their #'s. The ingredients listed are durum ww flour/semolina blend/ww fiber/niacin/iron/thiamin/mononitrate/riboflavin/folic acid.
Oh it also says calories per gram are fat 9-carb 4-protein 4Does any of that fit your sugar allowances?

I know some of the meat/cheese problems I'm starting to run into is that I'm not making enough "meal" dishes & just going for the fast meat w/veggie of some sort. But I've been sitting here thinking so what would I really be eating different otherwise?? And realized that all I would be doing probably is throwing some sort of a starch into the mix. Ya know, dinner would be meat, veggies, & bread
with a potato Tomorrow I will get a few more things made, or at least pick out the recipes & put them on the fridg so I can throw them together at meal time. We are going to Sudbury Ontario Canada next Thurs thru Mon so that's going to be a challange. The cousins always try to feed you well....course they are all thin...run off that real hyper energy. In the car before the cheese sticks & baby bels with my nuts & a protein bar really saved the day. Now I'm not sure what to do about the nuts.

The cookout will be fun. Always liked when ds had a group over. Course you do have to keep your eyes open, even with the good non trouble makers....lol !!

Have a mallard duck & his mate in my yard laying under the one bird feeder...where did they come from?? Dh & I have been watching 'em & laughing. They were not making my regular backyard bunny happy...he was looking & looking as they waddled past him/her. He actually laid his/her ears flat back on his/her head when they were by him/her. So you got the idea that I don't have a clue about bunny sex huh...LOL!!! At least the ducks & birds come in different colors

Ok I was making one last check before I turn off the 'puter for the nite so I'm done blabbing

You must have a rather large backyard, C, with all the wildlife you have. The ducks sound like fun. What kinds of birds do you get? We have had a pair of orioles lately at our birdbath, just stunning. And mockingbirds and little red-headed birds and so many others I have no idea what they are. I think I ought to take up birdwatching in my old age. Now there's something I don't even have to leave my armchair to do!

Glad your medical tests came out good, C. You had your folks over again--they must live nearby? You probably said, but I forgot. It's so nice you get to see them so often. Not like D and I whose folks live across the country. Sounds like you're going to have a great trip up to Canada. Do you have a lot of cousins?

D, you've got a busy but fun week ahead! How many will be at the luau? Of course we will want all the details! Hope you get to spend the weekend with both your ds's at lunch, and have fun shopping, too. Thanks for the info on Metformin. Doesn't sound like I will be wanting to take that one! I've been having stomach trouble on the neurontin, so don't want to add to my woes. I know, everybody gets tired of meat and cheese, but other than nuts and tofu, I can't think of anything else. So I just try to get a lot of different kinds so I don't get so bored. Too bad about the almonds, D. I count out 10 for my bedtime snack, put them on a little plate with my cheese and take them upstairs so I don't have access to more. And now that tom finally arrived, I bet the scale will move for you! You've been so good on all your meals and snacks!

Y, I take a multivitamin, cal-mag-phos w/vit D, fish oil caps, extra B vits, potassium, dhea, and magnesium. I recently added some anti-oxidants because I'm not eating as many fruits and vegs. Dh takes CoQ10 for his heart health (he has high bp, chol, arrythmia), his doc recommended it. I keep reading that it's good for you for a variety of reasons, but like you, who wants to add yet another pill! BTW, how're you doing on the prozac? Has it affected your appetite at all? Does it make you drowsy or anything?
Darn it, re your back! What do you do when you're not exercising? I just end up sitting around here watching TV. Watched a movie tonight--Dan in Real Life, kinda cute, a chick flick. (Like 'em)

Dh is gone this weekend. Went to a track meet with a buddy, in PHoenix. It's actually hotter here today than there! We're having a heat wave, but not for long. We only get two or three days of hot weather then the fog comes in. Kind of depressing sometimes, but a good air conditioner. I'm always at loose ends when dh is gone; we have spent so little time apart. I've got to get a hobby. It's just so hard to find something when you can't be on your feet much. Some of my friends have taken up African dancing! Seems to be the latest fad around here. I was a little off in my eating today because I had the upset stomach again, and had to eat soup. I got the Chinese wor wonton soup, ate the vegs and just the center of the wontons with the meat in it. But it's salty so I bet my wt will be up tomorrow. Hope I can go to the gym otherwise I will have nothing to do but the laundry! Hope you all will have a fun weekend! T.

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good C-I noticed the SB raspberry bar-is that a frozen fruit bar ? How far is your Canada trip ? Lost track of cousins a long time ago. You sound real busy as usual D, the luau sounds like so much fun-I guess you would have to wear something under the grass skirt I would say after a couple days your system will get used to the greens potion and will level out. They say on one greens advertisment that John Wayne's colon weighed 20 some lbs. at his passing and drink the greens and this wont be you I would be in heaven if everyone went to Phoenix T ! Well it seems you and dh are close and do such nice romantic things, I dont think the African dance craze has hit here yet - we would all end up in traction I imagine.

No escape plans as of this moment. S3's friend arrived Thurs. but so far missing in action. I am doing ok on the prozac so far, suppose to double the dose starting Thurs. - dont notice much of anything yet, had the feeling weird deal for a few days but that passed. No exercise this week and very frustrated by that-right now back seems ok. I did jump in pool last nite but only 10 laps.

Fri.
am-tangerine and red grapes, potion
lunch-salad w 2 sl. turkey breast
dinner-prk. chop and peas
snack-fruiti-2, ice cream sand, animal cookies.

Ill wait a bit then go on the scale.

Good morning ladies.

Congrats on the lb loss, YH. I'm sorry to hear you still can't exercise but hey, you are still losing so that's great!! Too bad s3's friend is MIA. I was looking forward to a little drama story.

C, that pasta would work if I didn't eat anything else the entire day and we both know that ain't happenin'. I try to keep my carbs between 20-30 for the day to maintain my sugar levels. Darnit. How about beef jerkey to replace the nuts when traveling?? I have never been to Canada but would love to travel there someday. How far of a trip is it for you? I think when you are in someone else's home, it's hard to control the food so maybe focus on the exercise. It might be nice to suggest a walk after lunch with your cousins. At least it would help you to burn any extra carbs or calories and you could still enjoy their home cooking. Love the story about the ducks & bunnies. I miss my duckies so much.

There should be 13 of us at the luau. I am making a chicken dish and a salad. Figured I would volunteer to make something that I can eat! But I have to make it tropical so I found some Hawaiian chicken recipes that use pineapple or fruit cocktail and brown sugar, etc. Thought I'd use Splenda brown sugar and fruit in light syrup with Splenda and I bet no one will know the difference. I have a good recipe for a strawberry and poppy seed spinach salad or I might throw in mandarin oranges so that will be something else I can eat, in case the other foods are too rich for me. I even bought some sugar-free, 0 carb, 0 calorie Mai Tai mix so I can have a drink or two without the guilt. Last night I dreamt of having a beer. Boy it "tasted" good.

I think I snack too much, T, but if I do, at least it's on "legal" things for me so I guess it could be worse. I don't have an upstairs so I can't get as far away from my refrigerator as you can. What is CoQ10??

I'm still playing around with that drink potion, trying to figure out a good time of day to have it with the protein powder because that powder really curbed my appetite. But...if I drink the potion without the powder, it tends to flush me out better. So I think I will add the protein powder only every other day maybe.

Ds1 got home about 9 pm last night. He put 61.5 hours in this week. Tired but said he will be happy to see this paycheck. Ds2 gets out of school on Wed. He has an FFA trip over Memorial Day wkd and will start working on the ranch on that Tues. He'll work 6 days a week and come home Sat nights and go back Sun nights. Don't know what I'll do this summer. I'll be lost with no kids home at all. And you guys think I am chatty now --- wait till I don't have to share the computer with ds2.

Will weigh in shortly.

Have a great wkd gals!! D

I hear ya D---on my days off I check the 'puter so many times & answer everyones questions immediately
It's odd when the house is still & quiet the first time. But then you & dh get use to it and get your routine going. And then they come back....LOL!! Everyone told me, oh don't feel low he'll be back. Sure enough he was...just ask YH LOL!!

Congrats on the lb YH!! Like D said to loose a lb when you're not able to exercise is great. And always better one off than none!! Just ask T & I

I ended up having a lc ice cream bar. But at around 10:30I felt hungry & was afraid of what stupid thing I might do while staying up til 12:30 watching the Tigers loose again. So I had one of my protein bars. Did the trick & was better to just have the 241 calories then to pick my way higher than that. Started this morning off with a nice omelette heavy w/protein. Tasted so good. Passed on my piece of lc toast. Have some Polena orange marmalade w/splenda to have on it. Maybe I will save it as a snack/treat.

YH the raspberry bars were like a breakfast/granola kind of a bar. Was good w/my cup of coffee. The Blue Bunny ice cream bars are great. I remember when Blue Bunny was out a few years back & I couldn't get the brand here, so I was happy to find them at WalMart. The choc raspberry ones are only 1carb that's why they were so popular. I also bought the choc choc bars this time but they are 4carbs. I like the Healthy Choice/Carb Smart/WW's ice cream bars, they're all good. The BB black raspberry bars are 90 cal-7g fat-6g sat fat-1 protein. The BB choc lites are 100cal-6g fat-5 sat fat-2g protein. I also Edy's Fruit bars, they are 30cal-0 fats-5carbs. Read that box wrong in the store & thought they were were 2 carbs...but they are good & still better than going nuts w/a bag of blazing cheddar Doritos LOL!! Keep trying to remember if this is forever it has to be not so choking. Was rereading portions of the SB book last nite & that's one thing he concentrated on was how to expand it to be a lifestyle that you can live with.
Ok got to stop as dh is driving me nuts w' some questions that must be answered before the world ends

I think I could have those ice cream bars, C. They might be a nice treat, esp. now that the weather is getting warmer. I think you are doing great with your choices. I have to be a little stricter with my carbs but moreso because of my Diabetes, not my weight loss. But I can have things that are 5 carbs without them raising my sugars, so I will look for some today while we are out and about. I couldn't get Blue Bunny when I lived in New Hampshire but it's very popular here in Nebraska. Thanks for the tips on some new snacks!

HI, all,

T, it took me all last year to lose 18lbs, then I just hit a stall in Feb 08 and it seemed no matter what I did, the fat just stuck. I don't really know what happened, I just stepped on the scale Thursday and it was lower.
Recently, I have not gone over 40 carbs/day, have not eaten so much cheese for snacks. Since I started lc, I have pretty much kept the carbs at 30-40.

C, the only lc bread I like is made by Mrs. Baird's, Honey Wheat, only 5/slice.
I can't really find any decent ones around here.

Congrats to YH and D for the weight loss!

Last night, I went with friends from church to a local Mexican food place, the oldest in the area, (1918), & ordered only a taco salad sans the shell, lots of salsa, guacomole, only a few tortilla chips. All in all, I did well.

Today, we are having a family portrait done, DH, DS & myself. DS is moving to Colorado in June 08. Sort of sad, try not to think about it. He's pretty immature & we don't think this is the right move, but kids have to "cut the aprion strings" sometime. At least, I am not stress overeating!

Have a great weekend, all.

The Mexican place sounds good SC. And the family portrait, thats nice. Ds will probably be fine or he will be back, trust me on that one. I keep telling S3 to move to another state where there is jobs to be had. 18 lbs in a year, you must have been on and off the diet ? You eat very little to me it seems. You should post a pic for us SC if you can.

Well blazin dorritos C ! I had to laugh because there is every flavor of those in my place along with tons of other crap that s3 eats, it gets pretty tempting at times. We dont have the blue bunny here but I always have the edys fruit bars which is probably better than the lc healthy choice, just on that kick for now. I would love a raspberry fruit bar but cant find them here-Dole use to make one but then they vanished. I love raspberrys but too darn expensive.

D-glad to hear you lost 3.5 pounds I have not had pasta in a long time-unless its in one of the frozen meals. The CQ10-not sure exactly-another vitamin of some sort but everything I read says take it, its fairly pricey too. I bought a 3 pack of the low dose aspirin too the other day as thats another thing we should have everyday, too bad the pills dont fill us up. Yes, play with the potion D but keep it up.

I was surprised at the 1 pound dump actually because I had a lousy week-I think it was the prozac that helped. Prozac is a weight loser if I recall correctly. Sat. I went to Curves-sure seemed like a long time since ive been there, did some Callanetics after. My plan was to go thru a box but then the phone rang and I had to pick up S3 and TN friend at some hotel on the beach so never got to the box as they slept all afternoon. I then went in the pool and did 20 laps, then took a nap. Woke up, ate, and then just watched tv. My back was good although I did skip a couple machines at Curves.

am-apple
lunch-slimfast
snack-1 fruiti and some grape tomatoes
dinner-leftover porkchop
snack- 1 fruiti and quaker cakes

I would like to find a replacement for those darn fruities-jujubees would be good as they are fat free but I just read yet another article on how bad corn syrup is for belly fat-I guess corn syrup is in many things we eat and we are to toss anything that has corn syrup in it

PS: I forgot to tell ya D - I was hysterical at the thought of myself climbing in the hanging scale in the produce section, at the store yesterday I just had to weigh my apples and I never do this because I have to buy it anyway so I dont want to know the cost.....I started laughing in the produce section and got some strange looks !

Glad you got back to Curves, YH. I still have to skip a couple of machines too but no matter, the time spent there is on a machine of some kind so I figure it's still doing good. I'm glad you're getting back in the swing of things with your swimming and exercise. Was your back okay afterwards?

You do realize that all these articles you read limit MY food selections too. STOP READING -- YOU'RE KILLING ME!! I find that I can't kick the sf candy. I tried but then I'm overdoing it on cheese and nuts. Until someone comes up with that sugar-free, fat-free, carb-free, calorie-free, guilt-free snack, I guess I am doomed.

Hey C, I checked out the Kraft 2% sliced cheese and saw that it is 2 carbs per slice. WW is only 1 carb. So that means I can have twice as much of the WW. In my store, the WW cheese is $1 less. Go figure. Of course, the one store I go to is not carrying the babybel lite or the lc flatbread anymore. Geez. You'd think they'd cater more to us fat ppl since we obviously spend much more $$ in their stores than the skinny ppl do!!

We did so much walking yesterday, I could barely walk last night and my feet are so sore today. I kept telling dh that I needed to do the big shopping first and get that out of the way but you put 3 men together and are they going to listen?? We stopped at a bunch of smaller stores and did the quick in and out shopping. I should have stayed in the car waiting but I wanted to be with everyone. By the time we got to the grocery store, I was in a lot of pain. But we had a fun day and went out to lunch too, which we haven't done the 4 of us in a long time.

Picked up some t-bone steaks so we can celebrate ds1's 21st today. It's really next Saturday but I don't know a 21 yr old yet that's passed up going out with friends to stay home with mom and dad, especially on their 21st. I'll make a bundt cake this morning. I have some lc cupcakes I can have if I'm really feeling left out but usually the sweets aren't too big of a temptation for me.

I didn't buy any ice cream bars yesterday, thinking the hour's drive home would kill them even if we put them on dry ice, but I found some sugar-free freeze pops that are only 1/2 carb per pop. Might not be filling but will be refreshing on a hot summer's day and with so little carbs, I could have a few and be okay. I couldn't find the turkey bratwurst but I did find some turkey franks that dh grilled for me while they had their bratwurst. Kind of dangerous for me because I couldn't eat just one, but they were only 1 carb and 70 calories, and lower fat than regular hotdogs, so I guess it was okay.

Yesterday's menu:

B-2 sl bacon, coffee
L-chicken, shrimp, beef & broccoli
D-3 turkey hotdogs, broccoli, cottage cheese, 1/2 lc pita
S-sf candy, meatball, 1 sl WW cheese

SC, the only lc bread I can find here is Sara Lee Delightful, which is not bad-tasting, but it's 9 carbs per sl and I find that I want 2 slices, which is too much, so it doesn't work for me. I wish I could find one that is only 5 carbs, that would be great.

T, how is your wkd going? I hope you are behaving yourself while dh is away!!

Dh and ds1 were teasing me about my drink potion yesterday but of course, ds1 is intrigued and I bet he's asking to taste some of it today. Ha, won't he be in for a surprise! Don't worry YH, I am not giving it up on it yet.

Well I hope you ladies are enjoying your wkd and are ready to start another week over -- the summer is upon us and we need to get those shorts and bathing suits out!!

D

P.S. Meant to tell you YH, I saw that WW makes a string cheese too, only 1 pt. Haven't tried it yet because I like the Kraft but might be another snack for you.

HI, y'all,

YH, I do eat, but mostly protein, non-starchy veggies, few fruits. I try to eat at least 20 grams, pro, (3 oz) each meal, with some snacks to meet my protein requirements.

Yep, I was on & off the Protein POwer plan as I struggle with a stress eating problem. When I get upset, the diet plan has in the past, gone out the window, when I regained control, I could have gained 3-5 lbs. So, in effect, re-starting on the plan kept my body guessing about the weight loss.

I am doing better now with the stress eating, as I try to drink water or exercise when I feel like I am getting out of control.

I also take a med for a harmonal problem which predisoses me to gain weight easily, so it is very hard for me to take it off.

I will never be able to weight my produce on a scale in the store again without LOL thinking about you climbing on one to weight yourself.

D, sorry your feet hurt so badly last night. Hope you get to feeling better.

Will ask my sis a photo to apply as my avatar. She has a digital and is a whiz at computers, etc.

Hope all has a great week.

Hi, Gals--

Congrats, D, on 3 1/2 lbs. off; and Y, on another lb. off! You gals just keep doing so great!

Wish I had good news to report, but I don't. Well, that's going to change this week. I feel a renewed sense of dedication to success! Grrrr! This is because I read something about if you have low thyroid (and I do), you can recharge it by guess what--Yelling! Ah-Ha! So that's why I am overweight! I simply have not been screaming enough! Well, well, that is certainly remedied easily! Yes, we have all been spending too much time on our computers (the article says) and not Talking enough! The thyroid gets stimulated by talking a lot, too! Well I tried this out while dh was gone today and spent some time yelling (not cursing, mind you) around the house. And darned if it didn't make me feel energized! Yes! Can't you tell by my post how enthusiastic I am Feeling about everything! Using exclamation points is the online equivalent of yelling! Oh, sorry--maybe I better pipe down a little--I can see you all sitting in front of your computers with your hands over your poor ears. Ah, singing is another way you can stimulate your thyroid; maybe that would be a better option. I think the poodle definitely would prefer that to my yelling; she was giving me some troubled looks... Anyhow, I'm going to try vocalizing more when I feel fatigued and don't feel like cooking. I'll be sure to keep you all informed. (See, this is what happens to me when dh is gone for just two days--thank goodness he's returning today!)

Sounds like you had a real fun day yesterday with your family, D, and congrats to you all on your ds1's 21st birthday. I know you had sore feet, but it sounds like it was worth it.

Glad you got back to Curves, Y, and swimming--it's good your back is feeling better; you've got to keep it healthy for your trip. When are you leaving? Have you definitely decided on your dress yet, or are you still looking?

SC, you've done great over the last year to lose 18 lbs. in spite of emotional eating. How old is your son? A family portrait is such a great idea--wish we'd had that done before ours flew the coop. But our younger daughter left when she was 16, so that was not something we could have predicted. A very independent girl!

Hope everyone has been having a lovely Sunday. I went to the Greek restaurant by myself today. Felt kinda strange. Besides yelling, just been doing laundry this afternoon. As predicted, my weight was up this a.m. from the Chinese food, but hopefully it's just salt cause I didn't eat any rice or other carbs with it. I'm taking a diuretic this afternoon, so hope to be back down tomorrow, then I really am going to get after it this week! Take care, T.

Oh T I love it! LOVE IT I mean I have the slow thyroid & have been on synthroid since I was 42. I can always sing around the house & in the car. No kids, no pets, no one to scare away! I love easy solutions

It's a good thing to have friends or hobbies or some such thing to do on your own---we don't like to think about it but we never know when we will end up alone & we need to have a few independent habits. The longer we are married the harder that is to do I think. I have to push myself to do a few things w/o dh. And he doesn't want to do anything w/o me. That bothers me cause I could be run over in all the traffic by me & be smooshed & gone in a flash. Maybe that's my own personal fear as my mom was a young widow--my dad & us kids were 90% of her life & he died right when us kids were moving off into young adulthood & my mom just had a year to adjust. Anyway T enjoy your dh when he gets home

D I believe that free & clear snack would be a big glass of water...
Guess I must have misread the cheese info...I read so many pkgs all over the store I can see where I got
I'll check again. I hate it when the stores drop things you buy on a regular basis!! I had my lc bread toasted w/my lf ham & havarti the other nite and it was pretty good. Much better than the lc breads were when I tried them in the past. Was so satisfying to eat. Put a lettuce leaf & a tomato slice on it too. My bread is Brownberry Carb Counting Multi Grain. 6g net carbs per slice & 60 calories. I have really been enjoying the SB snack bar delights. All I've had is the raspberry.

Congrats on the wgt losses D & YH!! You are our inspiration!! I put my 2 comfortable pair of jeans away & got out 2 tighter pair. They both have the straight legs so I probably won't wear 'em out of the house. I'm still doing poorly at exercise. Have the pool once a week & that's obviously not enough.

That stress eating is such a problem for lots of us SC. You seem to be doing better w/it. That's nice that you're getting a family photo--wish we had done it w/ds. Your ds might just surprise you at how well he will do on his own--does he have a job or friends in CO? It is a beautiful state!!

And your ds is turning 21 D!!! Wow! Doesn't the time just fly by! Enjoy your steak dinner--& you are right he's not gonna want to spend that one w/ dear ole mom & dad LOL!

Well it was a great weekend & now we are back to Mon.
But this Thurs we leave for Canada

T, sounds like you had a nice wkd to yourself, although you were pretty noisy. I could hear you all the way out here! I'm sure you're just retaining water from the Chinese food and you'll be back to normal soon.

I think having 2 kids around really throws me off course. At least I stuck to a 0 carb bran cracker while the rest of the gang was eating b'day cake & ice cream, but I find myself eating tonight just because everyone else is and not because I am truly hungry.

Today's menu:

B-4 sl bacon, drink potion, coffee
L-3 turkey hotdogs, protein bar
D-steak, asparagus, lettuce, bran cracker w/soy p'nut butter
S-pepperoni, 1 sl WW cheese, cashews, sf candy

C, you had me laughing over the glass of water. Thanks for the great new snack idea -- you're a real pal.

It hit 95 earlier today but cooled off to the 80's later this afternoon. Dh mowed the lawn this morning and we both puttered around all day, him outside, me inside when it was really hot. Once it cooled off, he put the patio umbrella up and I went outside and sat on the deck with him. The heat really causes me great fatigue with my MS, so I tend to stay in the a/c when it's sweltering out. Had to bring Hannah in for an hour -- with her black fur, she really overheats in this weather.

We're going to Curves tomorrow. I have a lot to do this week but I need to fit that in at least twice since we only went once last week and I could feel the difference. I'm surprised that you & dh haven't been out walking, C. I thought you two did a lot of that.

Hope you're feeling well enough to get back on track with your exercise, YH. Sounds like you did good this wkd -- it's a start at least. You don't want to overdo it and throw your back out doing too much too soon but I know you're anxious to get back on your routine so I hope you can.

SC, where in Colorado did your son move to? We're only a few hours from there -- it sure is a beautiful state like C says.

I have to remember to fast tomorrow morning so I can get the rest of my tests done. Maybe I'll have a thyroid problem too! Would be nice to have an excuse for all the yelling & screaming I do!!

Have a great night ladies! D
