Sounds like everyone did good Monday I did not do that good and had a snack frenzy all within 1 hour. I was sick all day at work. Its hard to believe that one pill made me so sick and I was afraid to take another and that scale was up 2 pounds also. ( before feeding frenzy )

Mon. am - cantelope and tangerine
lunch - kashi with blueberries and 1 egg
dinner - muffin and 2 scrambled eggs
snack frenzy binge- quaker mini cakes -double portion, handful of pretzels, goldfish, 2 fruitis, lc ice cream sandwich ( within 1 hr./ shoveled snacks in ) - then felt doubly worse-bloated- and guilt. Can't say why I did this - no excuse except the one in my head that I don't feel good and its ok.

Your Tea sounded great D and you deserve the gal of the year - I certainly would have voted for you. Do you like when dh travels ? I would love that but my situation is very different.

Your Mon. menu looked good T ! Now stick with it and try to get to the gym this week.

Proud of you C - good exercise Mon. - bet you worked off the lucious dessert
that you did not describe in full detail

I feel better today so far but its 300 am - can't say if ill make the Callanetics class tonite or not.

YH, I get into those snacking frenzies too. But the good thing is....it makes us sick & guilty and we definitely don't feel well afterwards. Which means hopefully we won't do it again anytime soon! At least you overate on legal things & not a pizza or hot fudge sundae! I bet you can work it off between Curves & the pool this week. I wish your Callanetics class fit into your schedule better but it does sound like such an effort so late at night and such a long way to drive. I would have a hard time motivating myself to go to that every week.

I miss dh when he travels for this long. A day or 2 is nice. I get a break from cooking, can watch whatever tv shows I want, read in bed late at night. But I don't sleep well when he's not here and I forget meds without him reminding me. Was up at 5 am this morning because it dawned on me that I forgot to take my insulin and pills last night before I went to bed. So that threw my numbers off this morning. Plus, he does a lot for me as far as helping me get dressed & massaging my feet when I'm in pain, so I will struggle w/o him this week & pray I don't have a bad day. Dh called me twice yesterday. Once while I was at the store to say he got to New Orleans safely & then later last night to chat. He was in a lot of pain with his dry socket still. I think he's going to have a rough week. He's on antibiotics & painkillers, chewing tea bags & rinsing with whiskey (recommended by dentist) and it's not doing the trick, poor guy. I feel bad for him, esp. since he's in such a great interesting city & might not be able to enjoy it if this doesn't clear up soon.

My friend & I played hooky yesterday and went shopping instead of to Curves. We went to Scottsbluff, about 2 hours from here, and hit a few stores & picked up a pc of furniture from an antique shop she had bought. She is a closet shopper. I don't know how she is going to explain the hutch to her dh. He has no idea she spent $800 on it!! And that is only the first pc. We couldn't fit the $500 pc in her van. Anyway, we stopped for salads for lunch. I picked up a rotisserie chicken for ds2 & me for supper since I didn't get home till 6 pm and my feet were in so much pain, I could barely walk in the door. Too much walking & traveling for one day, especially on my own. When I am with dh, he lends me a hand as a crutch to lean on and walks slow, but my friend is a fast walker and even tho I kept asking her to slow down, she'd forget and leave me in the dust.

I lost a bracelet on my travels yesterday & didn't notice till last night when I was taking my jewelry off. It's one I bought from a local woman who makes them, pretty pricey so I can't replace it. Mother of Pearl & turquoise, very pretty with the white & sky blue colors and I was so upset last night as ds2 & I looked all around the house & outside but couldn't find it anywhere.

Congrats on getting back on plan, T. Your menu looked good. And C, good job on all the exercising lately too. I need to get more motivated in that area. Maybe today is the day I will watch the Callanetic tapes since for once, I will be home and alone! I think I will wait till tomorrow to go to Curves since I need to get my feet up today & rest a bit and get back on track with my water pills, which I skip when I'm not home. Haven't taken them in a few days & the scale is going up with the fluid retention so I need to get that back down again. I HAVE to get rid of the 300 #s once & for all this week!!!!

Yesterday's menu:

B-deviled egg
L-Cobb salad
D-rotisserie chicken, deviled egg, lc flatbread
S-pork rinds, beef jerkey, lc protein bar

Well I guess that coffee is not going to make itself. Another reason I miss dh. He waits on me hand & foot!!

Have a great day ladies and keep up the good work! D

Tues.
am-orange and grapefruit, drink potion
lunch-salad w turkey breast and babybel, whole red pepper
dinner- 1 kielbasa and cabbage
snack-fruiti and ice cream bar

Got an oil change after work, load of laundry, cooked. I made it to the class last night-it was rough-very tired this am-will be a rough day getting thru work. Playing hooky from Curves but I can understand since you have to drive so far to stores, etc. Hope dh can enjoy New Orleans - such a fun place. That is so great that he helps you alot. I am finding out my stomach can't tolerate a whole green or red pepper anymore, ahhh, another getting older deal I used to eat them all the time, had to stop the green but the red now too. Too bad, I love them by themselves with a little salt.

Fun Day

Good Morning Ladies,
I am so looking forward to this day. My new countertops are being installed! Very pretty granite! I am so excited! We've really got a beautiful home and at a pretty good price too. We were able to eek out money for new porcelain/ceramic floor tile and new counter tops for the kitchen. This house has a huge kitchen! The one a cook will enjoy, not just for show! It has tons of cabinets and long counter tops..........chop, chop, chop. It was a one car garage in its previous life (we think) so that gives you an idea of the size. They lined both long sides with cabinets and those deep drawers. So much room for stuff. Of course I am still collecting things but the ladies at the lodge threw us a "shower" and absolutely over whelmed me with their generosity. They even made me register so I could pick out the things I wanted. What a great group of women . My kitchen is all new from Panini machine to the new dishes, Pyrex, bowls and platters that all match, a wok, towels and even the silverware!! I could go on and on. It was such a blessing.
Someone asked how the fire started. It was an electrical fire. We were sleeping and I heard something about 12:45 and looked up and saw a glow from the other room. I woke my husband and he got the extinguisher and it didn't work! Thank God the grandson and d1 was not there. We all got out ok but then stood and watched it burn and burn until the fire dept. came ( which seemed to take forever). The house was a full blaze by the time they came and we just watched our lives go up in smoke. Thankfully we had insurance and also my DH has always told me when something would happen (break or wear out) Honey it is just stuff! We can always get more stuff..... so this is what ran through my brain in the aftermath. It is just stuff and we are all safe and alive. That is the most important thing. And now we have a great new place to get more stuff for. Everyone thinks it is so neat to be able to get all new things but truthfully, when it comes to buying clothes and decorating a place, a lot of the "stuff" comes with time and an accumulation factor. Yes, don't get me wrong, it is cool to get new furniture but the pictures and little things are not so easy to get a style for. The worst was having to buy clothes..........never thought I would say that but when you are my size and need a week’s worth of clothes for work and have nothing but the clothes you walked away with, that was hard. Don't forget the bra factor!! I usually buy off EBay and really could not wait 5-10 days for delivery! I had just got this new pair of boots in the mail that day and never even got to wear them!! All in all it worked out. The after Christmas and winter sales were in full swing so that helped for all of us. We have the 2 daughters with us. One grandson and one due at the end of May (I don't think she will make it that long!) So luckily the house is big- 4br and living room, den, DR, and 2 bathes inside and one outside in DH’s shop. We even have an extra room off the kitchen that is empty that we are thinking of building a bar in. We really have space for everyone and have a great yard with a water well. In S. Texas that is a plus for the grass. I think we will be very happy here.

Looks like everyone is back on track but me! C your exercising is really kicked up a notch! Good for you. T your dinner sounded divine. I love jazz.
YH the pool sounded so relaxing. While we were at the apartment we had a pool but the weather wasn't quite right yet. Now that we are here it is up in the mid 80's of course. D, I am like C, I knew you would get the award too! You are really involved in the community. Put's me to shame even though I have the Lodge thing going on, I don't know when you find the time to sleep. And not only do you cook but you bake too!!! Where do you get the energy? Here lately it seems like I have none. But getting things back to "normal" will probably help. That's why I'm back here writing with you all today. I need the camaraderie and support. And I know I can get that here! I am going to review the freezer and fridge to make sure I have things for this week to get motivated. I don't have my gas grill yet and that is what saved me many times on this way of eating. By the way YH, what are you following. You have done really well in a short time and I see you seem to eat more carbs. What's your secret?? Well ladies I think I have rambled on long enough. I need to get those counters cleaned off for the workers. I will keep you posted!

Good morning ladies!

YH, glad you got to your class last night. How did it go? Did you learn anything new? Details please!! I tried the Beginning Callanetics yesterday. It was pretty good. There were a couple of things I skipped or had to modify (mostly because my fat makes me not as limber as those ladies!) but I think it's something I can do. How are you feeling today, other than tiredness? Is that new med still making you sick?

K, your new home sounds absolutely gorgeous!! How exciting to start with all new things...countertops, floors, kitchen gadgets, etc. Very heartwarming that all your friends pulled through for you. And how wonderful that you now have enough room for your whole family. You may have lost material things in the fire, but look how it brought you all together. (I do believe things happen for a reason.) I hear you about the clothes though. To have to run out & buy a whole new wardrobe right now, ugh, that would be tough for me.

This morning we are off to Curves. Can't have another "hooky" day. Afterwards, I am meeting with some sorority sisters to do a trash pickup along a 2-mile stretch of road. I cannot do a lot of walking so I will bring my van and drive along, stop & pick up trash & get back in my van and drive a little further. I'll be the water lady that everyone runs to for drinks! Although looking at the sky, it may be cancelled. Strong winds right now and a call for rain this afternoon, so we'll see how it goes. I try to be as active as possible but remember, I don't work, and dh does, and my kids are grown and self-sufficient, so I do have a lot of idle time on my hands.

T & C, where are you gals?? Missed your posts this morning!!

I'm finding myself snacking more than normal. Boredom without dh here I think. I will try to do better tonight.

Yesterday's menu:

B-1 sl roast beef, 2 sl provolone, tea
L-lc flatbread, rotisserie chicken, lettuce, salsa
S-babybel lite, beef jerkey
D-chicken wings, lc flatbread, lettuce
S-almonds, string cheese, 2 sugar-free freeze pops, 2 sm pcs sugar-free candy

Friend just called & so I better go get ready to meet her. I haven't been to Curves since last week so I really need that uplift today.

Have a great day ladies! D

K, thats quite a story about your house ! Its wonderful your all situated now and your home sounds lovely. You have 2 daughters living with you and one grandson and another grandson on the way ? How old are your daughters ? What do you do for work? You have a lively household. Yes, its time to get back on tract with the food and exercise. I am basically doing Weight Watchers - thats why you see all the fruit I don't know if your familiar with WW but I have made modifications as far as points go. So far it has been working I know its going to get tougher the lower I get so just taking it day by day.

I am glad you got to watch the Callanetics tapes D I knew you could do some of these ! My class was good - this time she threw some yoga stuff in which of course I had no clue but I made do. Alot of stretching. I think I would really enjoy a beginner yoga class if it did not involve much standing. I would love to be able to make my body into a pretzel rather than eating them Feel better today other than exhausted-I am researching diff. meds to replace the Cymbalta-I decided not to continue with it as I have been on several antidepressants over the yrs. and did not feel like that - I know I did not give it a chance but a strong feeling. Yes, you better not play hooky today or hide purchases for GF

Hi, Gals--

You sound like you feel better, today, YH. I did read that Cymbalta can have a lot of bad side effects, so maybe it's just as well you decided not to take it. I don't like anti-depressants either, altho I did tell my neurologist I get really depressed about my physical condition. In the past the anti-depressants have left me feeling really tired and didn't seem to help much. Maybe there are newer ones that can help you, YH. Do you really feel like you need one at this point? Fortunately for me, the neurontin has a bit of an anti-depressant effect so I do not feel so negative all the time. Mattter-of-fact, my dd1 just told me she is pregnant again, by new bf (who she had just told me it was over with), and she just lost her job and has the two little girls by first bf and is in debt, doesn't get child support, etc. etc. The one who lives in San Diego. And I actually forgot about it for awhile instead of obsessing! And I don't feel that upset about it! Sort-of. So this has got to be the neurontin. Yea!

Way to go on getting to the callanetics class. Your 2 lbs. up is probably just water retention from the salt and carbs of the snacks. Looks like you are back on track now.

D, what fun the shopping trip must have been! Now, did you buy anything...? Good for you to get to Curves today, though! And, your snacks are healthy, low-cal, so I don't think they will hurt you. You know, you lost 9 lbs. in one week, so this week may be a little slower, but we know you'll hit the 2's soon! I'm sure you can hardly wait!

K, that's a heart-wrenching story about your fire. We are sooo glad you woke up and you all got out! I have a friend whose house burned to the ground and she was traumatized for a long time afterward. They were just renting, though, so no insurance to cover the things they lost, which was everything except the clothes on her back. They had to sleep in friends' homes and take donations of clothes, etc. until they were able to rent another place. The hardest part for her was the loss of family photos. So what they did was ask friends and relatives to sent them any photos they had of her family, and they did get some back that way. You are so fortunate to have had insurance, and now a beautiful new home! You are being very strong through all this, K. I know how you feel about not wanting to go out and buy new clothes when you're not at the size you'd like to be, but hopefully you've had some pleasure doing it! What girl doesn't like to shop, right? And, I guess you still have your new job? How is that going? And how about the eating--how are you doing now with that? I'm sure all this is still very stressful, but hope you are hanging in there!

C, how is your week going? You must be busy with clients again. Hope all is going well for you.

I did pretty well yesterday, and am down 2 lbs. But I had gotten up to 162, so I can't change my stats yet. Hoping to get below 160 tomorrow or the next day. I went to the gym yesterday, and plan to walk and/
or ride bike today.

B - egg yolk, bacon, lox, cr ch (small amounts)
L - salad, salami, r. beef, turkey (few pieces), few strawberries, wh cr
S - ham bologna, few almonds
D - small beef filet, creamed cauliflower, green beans, few strawberries
S - string cheese, few almonds

Have a wonderful day, everyone! T.

Mornin ladies,

Good to hear from you T - Where are you C ? Glad those 2 pounds came off T Is San Diego daughter still with new BF ? Geez thats 3 kids soon and debt. I hope new BF works if he's still around. S3 is bleeding me dry and it has to stop-does dd ask for money all the time too ? Always something. Maybe the nuerotron is good for something at least ! I think I was born depressed-they want me on antidepressants to help with chronic anxiety/panic attacks/phobias more so then the depression. I dont care about the depression myself but now i can't drive on the freeway, go up an escalator, I can't go on with the driving thing so hoping to find med that can help me with this stuff which is really awful.

How did the trash run go D ? Are you feeling better with your feet ? Did you make it to Curves ok ? I am snacking more too and feel heavier - have not looked at scale since the plus 2 pounds. I ordered some bottoms from ebay so they should be coming this week - hopefully those will motivate me more. Last Sat in my escape I did stop at a store and just could not deal with it-dressing rooms- people-etc. I buy everything online except grocercies and have so for years. I ordered 16 pair of shoes from Zappos once and 2 fitbut I like the free shipping and returns and I have a difficult shoe deal.

Wed
am- cantelope and blackberries
lunch-oatmeal w blackberries / made with water
dinner- WW frozen meal
snacks-fruiti, pretzels, quaker cakes

Took a lunesta 3mg ( highest dose ) and slept an extra hour. I am sampling the sleeping meds now and need to write down or ill forget.

Congrats on the 2 lb loss T!! Your way of eating (versus the dr's) is definitely working for you so keep it up! I bet your sugar levels are great too. Are you still checking them? Congrats on being a grandma again. Might not be the best of circumstances but babies are a blessing, so just keep thinking of it that way.

C, where are you woman?? I hope everything is okay with you. Miss you and hope you come back soon!

I did go to Curves yesterday morning. Felt good to be back. We only stayed for 2 rotations since my friend hurt her back moving that hutch, but didn't want to tell me ahead of time because she knew how much I wanted to go. Of course, once I saw the pain she was in, I wanted to leave but she refused, so I insisted that she sit and take it easy while I quickly went thru the 2 rotations and then we left.

I did the trash pickup yesterday afternoon. I couldn't walk nearly as far as those other gals so I just kept doing a little near my van and then moving the van up and doing more. But that helped because then when we were done, I could drive around and pick everyone up. There were 9 of us so it only took about an hour, not bad at all. My feet were hurting and I was retaining lots of water so I took some water pills late last night and then was up & down all night long. But I couldn't go to bed as swollen as I was. I lost 7 lbs in water from last night to this morning. Too bad it wasn't fat!!

Today I am meeting ds1 in Alliance. He's getting his haircut and needs to run some errands so I told him I'd meet him there & take him out to lunch. I'm sure he'll pick Chinese so I hope I can stick to chicken & salad.

It does sound like you need some kind of med, YH, just not Cymbalta. Glad you went off it if you weren't feeling right. I have The Pill Book and research the meds myself, along with my dr's advice, so that I can get an idea of the side effects when he suggests a med. It's a good book to have. I think I got mine at Wal-Mart or KMart, just a paperback, for a few dollars. Of course, it doesn't replace a dr but it does give helpful information about the meds you are on and what they interact with, side effects, etc.

I'm thinking I'll stay the same this week because of my big loss last week but we'll see. I'm retaining so much water, it's hard to get an accurate weight these days, the scale is moving up & down so much this week.

YH, glad you got a little more sleep last night. I hope you find a med that really works for you. I tried Ambien before but it didn't really help me any.

We were under a tornado watch for several hours last night but we didn't get anything more than wind. Whew. We don't usually get tornados here because we are surrounded by hills but you never know. Ds2 & I had candles & flashlights ready but fortunately we never lost power either.

Yesterday's menu:

B-coffee
L-salad with diced skinless chicken
D-shrimp, lettuce
S-almonds, 1 string cheese, 2 babybel lites, 1 sm pc sugar-free candy

Can't seem to stop the snacking but at least last night was better than the night before. Hopefully I'll get it under control tonight.

The weather is gorgeous here. So bright and sunny and the birds are chirping! I hope everyone has a wonderful day. D

D - here are a couple modifications for 2 of the Callanetics exercises that are on the knees as those are very hard for me, maybe you can do these.

Thigh stretch - Lie on your side supporting yourself with elbow, grab ankle with hand, gently pulling your thigh towards your back until the thigh is parallel with you body, gently holding and pulsing the leg/thigh backward. Repeat the other side.

Pelvic side to side rotation- Stand with your feet hip width apart ( measure from hip bones not high wide you think your hips are) Engage the pelvic floor or tighten the base of your spine ( like you are holding in a bm ) and stretch up. Then bend your legs aligning your knees in the middle of your feet and sit back keeping your shoulders over your hips. Your back is relaxed and long. Now start rotations.

Morning, Gals--

I'm going to try those stretches, too, YH, thanks for sending them. Glad you got a bit more sleep last night, an extra hour can really work wonders! If you can't remember, just write here what you took, then you can refer back! Sorry you are struggling with panic attack--I used to have that, and had to breathe into the paper bag when it happened, and take valium. Then they switched everybody to xanax, but I like valium better. I am claustrophobic, so have to take it when flying, and always have to have an aisle seat if we go to a concert or anything. Freak out on the freeway if there's a traffic jam. What is it about freeway driving for you? Hope you find a new med that can help; I know how disabling this can be! On the plus side, isn't online shopping fun!

Dd 1's bf is working in Las Vegas right now in construction. There isn't much work right now in San Diego. He's the first bf she's had since splitting with the father of her daughters. It's been an on and off relationship since it began over a year ago. She told me it was over and they were just friends, but now says that's changed. Maybe they will get back together in few months after he's finished working in Las Vegas. It does not sound like a good start to me--sounds a lot like a repetition of the first bf--they fought all the time. She says this one is more responsible. Right. Then why were they careless? Children are wonderful, but I don't see how you can keep having them when you don't have any income. We have been helping financially, but have limited it to the girls' education. With a third child of hers, and others now we have to help with college, I don't know how much more we will be able to do. I have to let go and trust, I guess, it isn't up to me! I sympathize with you re your ds3 bleeding you dry. The experts tell us to let go and stop enabling, but what would happen then? These aren't their kids!

D, sounds like you've been working a bit too hard--wonderful projects, but hope you get a little rest now! 7 lbs. of water weight--you need to get your feet up! Maybe you're snacking more because you haven't been eating very much lately, although your snacks are not bad at all. Or maybe you miss your dh too? I know that's when I snack more! Sounds like you are going to have a nice relaxing and fun day with ds1. How lovely to just go spend some time with him and have a nice lunch. I know you can handle the Chinese food, you've been there before!

I did eat on plan yesterday, but the scale did not go down. Now tonight we have to go to dinner with a bunch of people with whom I have nothing in common. They all love to sit around and talk about local politics--I can't stand it! It's going to be a long evening.

Well, in an effort to eat at home more often I have been going to the store and trying to do some cooking. Last night I attempted to make veal marsala in cream sauce, which actually wasn't too bad, but the veal was as tough as leather! I didn't think that I cooked it too long, but maybe I did. Do any of you cooks out there know how you can get the veal to be more tender? Of course I did not flour it; maybe that was the problem. Here is yesterday's menu:

B - egg yolk, lox, cr ch, bacon, spinach
L - salad, 2 shrimp enchiladas, no tortillas, lc choc
S - cocoa made w/stevia and half n half, bologna, almonds
D - veal marsala cream sauce, asparagus, mayo, okra, few sliced strawberries in cream
S - string cheese, almonds

Have fun today, everyone! T.

P.S. D, yes I have been getting the blood sugars to go down since going back to very low carb! This morning was my first below 100, before breakfast. Yea! I was having readings in the 160's and 170's after meals, and now I am getting them under 120! I really feel motivated by this and am hoping that over time, keeping my sugars way down, hope that the neuropathy will go away or at least get a lot better. Keep up your good work--success is on the horizon! T.

Just got home from work and Curves and BF did not go to work and is mad that s3 and skinny gal are here - threatened to move if I don't do something. I did not say anything and took a bath.

Curves was good - I was the only one there so did my own thing. The extra one hr. of sleep really helped !

7 pounds of water D, that alot. I hope you are having a good day with your son. You need to rest up tonite I think - you are doing great with the food I most likely need a lobotomy for the driving deal - ughhh.- hopefully ill find a med that helps, its getting real old. Im glad you worked out while your girlfriend watched at Curves.

I can relate to you T with dd - always something - this guy most likely won't work out either but you cant tell them anything. BF is always coming home with the co-dependant books- if I see the Co-Dependant No More book I will scream.
I honestly think s3 will be dead if I throw him out and then I would be guilty the rest of my life. I dont know. It sounds like your doing much better with your meals these days.

Hey C - where are ya ????

I cannot take a night with BF *****ing at me - I may have to take a new sleeping med early.

Hey ladies! Just been busy. Sounds like you all have been too.
That's great about the 2lbs & lower sugar #'s T!! You'll feel better in no time. Flour wouldn't make your veal tough. Maybe you did cook it too long or at too high of a heat.
Sorry to hear you & Yh have anxiety problems. You have to be able to deal w/the roads in this day & age. At todays gas prices more folks will be shopping on line, course that only means more stores close & more folks loose their jobs....and w/med's it always seems to be the balancing of the side effects against the benefits.....good luck! My mom has that med book & always looks everything up for me. They buy the new addition each yr as there are some many drugs coming & going.
How nice of your friend to go to Curves just to support you D! Can't imagine losing 7lbs fluids in one day....
Does that effect your sugar #'s?
I personally think our grown kids are more to deal w/than when they were younger LOL!! And very few kids actually end up in the gutter starving when parents exercise tough love. They may have some difficult spells, especially in the beginning when they keep expecting you to cave & bail 'em out once again. We all learned by the school of hard knocks & our kids have to do the same. My brother said it was just as hard for him to practice tough love w/his boys as it was his patients that he'd counseled thru the tough love approach w/their kids. Boy, we thought it would all end when they grew up & left home...LOL!!
Well dh is home & I need to get his dinner ready. I didn't eat today as the prep to the colonosp. tomorrow. At 7 I will take my jug & book to the bathroom and start drinking & poohing I'm sure you won't hear from me until tomorrow nite.
My swim class cancelled Mon nite so no 2 rounds of exercise. Really need to get somewhere & check out the Callenectics--seems quite interesting.
Later gals

Well I see that you were posting while I was YH! Good that you had a good run thru at Curves!
Even though he's driving you crazy w/it BF is probably on the right track re:ds. It's hard to hear from someone who doesn't love 'em like you do. But I don't think they have the right to take our money & sanity just because we birthed 'em & love 'em. That's just my opinion not something I read in a book.
Ok off to the kitchen

YH, I hope you find some peace at home tonight. Kids and relationships -- such frustration. Hang in there!! How nice that you had Curves to yourself. I love days like that.

Excellent blood sugar reading, T. Sounds like you are on the right track now. I read that tight controls of your bs levels will help neuropathy pain so keep it up!

C, good luck with your test tomorrow. No eating for the whole day?? Make sure your weigh-in is tomorrow!! Sorry to hear your aerobics class was cancelled. That must have been a disappointment. Is it only once a week?

The water retention doesn't affect my bs levels at all. It's all in my legs and feet. My dr has me on Lasix, but I don't take it when I am traveling so I think it just really built up this week. I came home this afternoon and actually fell asleep for an hour. I needed that!

Ds1 & I had a nice morning together. We stopped at a couple of stores and went out to Chinese buffet for lunch. I kept to salad, protein & veggies, so not too bad. He had to leave by noon because he had to work at 1 pm and it was an hour's drive back to school. It was nice to see him and spend some one-on-one with him. I picked up a pizza for ds2 on the way home and it actually made it all the way into my kitchen without so much as me looking at it!!

Tomorrow I will go to Curves in the morning and then in the afternoon, my sorority is power-washing the mural on the courthouse wall. Should be a fun project if the weather is good!

Today's menu:

B-coffee
L-chicken, beef & broccoli, salad
S-ham salad
D-2 scrambled eggs, zucchini, shrimp
S-4 sm pc sugar-free candy

Well ds2 wants to use computer & I think I need to put my feet up again since I'll be on the go tomorrow. Have a great night ladies! D

So sorry YH that you have to live in such a tormenting situation. Maybe you could talk to skinny gal and tell her it would be nice for her to have s3 over to her place once in a while! Like tonight! At least you got Curves to yourself! Hope bf calms down.

C, good luck with the colonoscopy tomorrow. D's right--you should weigh tomorrow and maybe that will give you a jump start to a big loss this week! If you couldn't eat today, you probably would have been too energy-less to exercise anyway, so maybe it was a good thing your class was cancelled.

D, what a nice day you had with ds1, and congrats for staying on plan at the Chinese restaurant! Sounds like you are going to have fun tomorrow as well. Hope the weather cooperates!

Our dinner went better than I expected and I actually had a good time. And ate on plan except for the dessert, which was a custard w/a few sliced strawberries, so that wasn't too bad, and it was a small amount. The food was great. I had a little tuna and watercress salad, and stewed rabbit with vegetables for my entree. The wife of one of the couples is a skinny minny, which is amazing because they go on cruises all the time. She is one of those people who can just take a few bites of everything and not overeat. She walks a lot and dances too. I think she's got a high metabolism; she's in her 70's and still runs around doing a whole lot of stuff and traveling a lot, has 5 kids and a whole bunch of grandkids whose lives they are involved in. No health problems at all. I could not even dream of such a life. Some people are so lucky; they have no idea!

B - egg yolk, 1/2 banger, spinach
L - salad, roast chicken, berries and wh cr
D - watercress salad w/tuna, rabbit w/vegetables, custard w/strawberries
No snacks.

Kathleen, how are you doing?

Hope you all are sleeping comfortably tonight! T.

Hope the toilet was not too bad last nite C that is is worst part of the colonoscopy and yes I hoped you weighed in this am. I had one a couple years ago and thet put me to sleep but I have heard there are 2 diff. ones and the other they don't, just a local.

S3 and skinny gal left for the whole night but BF did not stop, claims he's moving to his PARENTS in Central Florida and is going to ask his work if he can work remote. Apparantly he calls his parents daily to complain and they advised him to get out of the situation, I wonder if he told em he plans to move in with them. He was yelling the whole time so I took some pills and was asleep by 700pm.

Im glad the dinner was not boring for you T and you had a good time. :What is a banger ? Your meals are so interesting - I would have mental problems eating rabbit and veal - must be the PETA mail I receive but I eat meat so its just a thing in my head about certain animals.

Have fun power washing the mural - is that with a pressure washer - I hope you dont plan on holding that thing although it is fun. I hope your GF's aches are better so she can do Curves with you.

Yesterday Betty Crocker pulled me aside seriously and asked me if I was ok as she noticed my weight loss and said it appeared "overnite" and was concerned I was ill I did not elaborate but it was a perfect opportunity to tell her I am watching my weight and cannot eat all the baked goodies she brings in.

Thurs.
am-drink potion, tangerine and grapefruit
lunch-salad w turkey breast
dinner-small slice of plain meatloaf and green beans
snack-fruiti

Exercise - Curves and Callanetics

Good morning gals

YH, glad to see you survived the night. I wonder if bf is serious or just blowing smoke?? Glad BC confronted you. How funny to think you lost all that weight overnight. See what happens when you are a closet dieter!! Anyway, now she will lay off the baked goodies!

T, sounds like you did very well with your dinner out. The custard was high in sugars but strawberries are very good for you. They hardly raise my levels at all. I'm with YH, couldn't do the rabbit. Just the thought of eating Thumper or Bambi gets me everytime.

We had rain and snow last night. Just a dusting of that ugly white stuff left. Very cool out now and chance of more snow later on. Ugh. So our mural washing is most likely cancelled. The power was in our arms, not a pressure washer, LOL. They know that I don't have the strength in my arms to scrub like that but they all wanted me to join them anyway and do what little I can.

My next big project is coming up in May and so I've been running around, shopping and meeting with my board members. I am throwing a murder mystery dinner party for my sorority. Lethal Luau. Some of us will be suspects and dress in character while the rest will dress appropriately for a Hawaiian Luau and we'll give a prize for best costume. We'll have luau food and cocktails and play the murder mystery game and give a prize for the one that figures out the murderer. I've been collecting decorations and costume accessories for the past few months. I am portraying a Polynesian Chief so I'll paint my face and wear a hula skirt. I found a necklace with a tiki head on it so I am buying a bunch of them and putting them together to make it look like a collection of shrunken heads. Characters include a hula dancer, movie star, billionnaire's wife, fumbling tourist, local golf pro, among others. Should be lots of fun and everyone is excited about doing it!

Dh comes home tonight. He just called to say he should be home around 9 or 10 pm. It's been a nice little break but I'm ready to have him home.

I read an article in a magazine last night about aspartame in diet foods causing joint pain. I wonder if there's any truth to that? I certainly do have my share of aches & pains and I do eat/drink food that contains aspartame so I'll have to research that one.

I hope we're going to Curves this morning. My friend said her back was feeling better and thought that the little she did at Curves on Wednesday might have actually helped -- stretched her stiff muscles out. She'll call me later this morning and let me know for sure.

Hope everyone has a good day! D

TGI Friday!

Hello Everyone,

You all are encouraging me to get off my duff with all the exercise talk!! We are close to the school (1 short block) so I really should get my pregnant daughter out and start walking the track. I mean how much better could I have planned that. God put me next to the track, is that a sign????? It would be good for both of us. She just stopped working on Sat. so she needs to do something to keep her joints limber and I need a buddy so I will do it…………..
I sure am glad I don’t have to deal with all the meds….But you never know when it will be your turn. I have been fortunate to only have to take high blood pressure medication. If I could get this weight off I could probably drop that too………I think this is a great forum to be able to discuss the said effects and what’s worked and whats not worked. I have heard more and more folks on the different meds you guys are discussing and I am just amazed how many different kinds there are for all the different ailments out here. It could also be because we are getting to that age in our life where the ailments come out faster than rabbits reproducing!!!
D- Do you have any grandchildren yet? We have 3 so far and love them dearly………….if only we could get rid of the parents!!!! Don’t know what I did wrong but all three of our girls decided to get pregnant first and then find out if they could get along with with guy! Call me old fashioned but I thought things were clear when I raised them that this was not the way to go! I can relate to T & YH, but I agree with C and just can’t seem to get there.
I have decided to start on Monday with my official Low Carb re-start date! I will purchase a scale over the weekend so I can weigh-in. What day are we doing that??? I am going to make my rev. rolls and I already have Dreamfields and low carb tortillas in case I get in a pinch! I will try to stay away from that in the beginning but If need it, it will be there...........
Hope the BF is over it today YH and C- I am really feeling for you on this colonosp. thing. Good luck on that. D I think the new project sounds like a blast. Please keep us updated. We do things at our lodge all the time and I might bring something like this up. T you are doing so well down 2 lbs and sugar way down too! That is progress !! I hope I can stay focused this time. I am working with a great group of people. I am a contractor for the Navy and work with Fleet and Family Support, admin support, so I do a lot of sitting. Trouble is they always bring all this great food! Sweets and taquitos and stuff! So I figure I can try some low carb stuff and let them be my guinne pigs! See how I am already trying to make this a positive thing?
Well I have gone on long enough and I may stop by later to check in. I am trying to get in a better routine.

Had a good workout at Curves this morning. Really puts me in good spirits when I go and crank that music loud and get to moving all around.

K, it's hard not to join in when we're all talking weight loss and exercise so you may as well get into the routine right along with us. Walking with your daughter sounds like a great plan. I weigh in on Saturday mornings because then if I want to go out to dinner or eat a little off plan, I have the rest of the wkd to do so without messing up my weigh-in.

No, I don't have grandchildren yet. My boys are still a little young for that (hopefully). My oldest is in his junior yr of college and will be 21 next month and my youngest is in high school and just turned 16. I, too, am old-fashioned in my thinking...marriage first & then kids...but it's not the end of the world if it happens the other way around. I hope it doesn't but you can only raise them the best you can, instill your morals and values, and then cross your fingers once they become adults.

You may have to do what YH does when her co-workers bring in goodies. Home to her family or into the round file it goes!

The scale is not moving for me today. So who knows if I will lose anything this week. I think since last week's loss was a big one, I probably wouldn't have a big loss this week anyway, but I hope & pray I can lose ONE measly little pound to get to 299. Is that too much to ask for???!!!!

The florist just called to say I have flowers that need to be picked up. My anniversary is Sunday but dh doesn't send flowers so I'm sure they're from my friend that I go to Curves with, so off I go to get them.

Hope everyone is having a good day! D

P.S. Thanks for the Callanetics modifications, YH. I am going to work on those next week!

Thats really sweet D that your gf got you flowers, any special plans for your anniversary - your dh will be back tonite. I truly hope you get in the twos by Sat. am ! Let me know what you find out about the aspartame as Im sure im eating that too. The luau idea sounds like so much fun ! I went on a 17 day Hawaii cruise to all the islands about 3 yrs. ago with my brother and it was so beautiful.

K - good to hear from you - this a a great place to be for ailments and weight loss You have already made progress - Monday is yout start day ! And the walking will be good ! Are any of your daughters with the guys that got them pregnant, my s1 got a gal pg on a one night stand ! But my grandson is adorable and he is paying child support ( with my help ) - I only wish he was closer. I weigh in on Sats. too.

BF update - well I was up really early from having to go to sleep so early so I did not have to listen to BF. He must have called 10 xs and emails but I have not answered phone or emails as I am really irritated - he can call his parents up if he needs someone to talk to. It does not matter if s3 is here or not - he hates him ever since he beat him up 3 yrs ago because BF agitated him when he was drunk. Of course this happened when I was on that Hawaii cruise and BF has not gotten over it to this day. Hard to say what ever really occurred as I was not here.

Hope all is good - you doing ok C ?

Saturday Rain

Good Morning Ladies,

YH let me be the first to congratulate you on your 2 lbs gone !!!
That's great. I see your menus and am not surprised. You seem to eat light and healthy. I did go get some cream sheese,(too close to Mexico!) ricotta cheese and stocked up on eggs for the start!
Only one of my daughters is with the Father of her children. She's the one I was going to worry about and now she'll be 19 next month and has 2 beautiful children and has purchased a home! So she is doing great. But the other two are just sucking us dry!! Not really, but sometimes it would be nice if they were thoughtful or even thankful! I can't imagine your situation, BF and son fighting it out! Now I can see me and my d's fighting but not me and my stepdaughter! That would not work! Something about your own blood... so I'll bet it is tough pride wise for BF.

It's raining here this morning and it is the first time since we have the new house. I am wondering if there are any low spots out there...........its funny not knowing what to expect at times. I would not want to open a door and water comes in! We aren't in a flood zone or anything, but the dirt at this place is like a black gumbo(that's what they call it) and where I was before was sand ! Everything just soaked in no problem. It is only 4 miles from the bay house and it’s that different, we will see..............

Counter tops are scheduled again for today! I don't think I told you what happened, just my luck the saw that cuts the granite broke at the shop and we had to reschedule, so it is supposed to happen today!

We have instillation of our new lodge officers tomorrow and those women can cook. That is why I am starting on Monday! I did not want to miss out on all this good food!! I am an addict.................

D- you are really doing well at Curves. We have one here too. One of the lodge women went for a year and she looks great!! It was very impressive how she looked! All curvy for lack of a better word. I am hoping I will start walking soon. I am so achey I know I need to do something.....
How are the flowers?? That is kind of your gf to do that! What are you and hubby doing for the anniversery? A romantic getaway??

T-What have you got planned for this weekend? I am glad you enjoyed your last dinner out with friends. It didnt sound as if you wanted to go, but then you had a good time!
By the way, I really like your new picture. I have to put mine up soon. I did get a digital camera so I have no excuse, I will be like D and have them take it 10 times before I settle on one!

C-How did the test go?? Do they tell you right a way or is this something you go back for? I hope your feeling better today now that it is over. Treat yourself well today!

Well I better get a move on................got to get that scale..............not looking forward to that!

Finally!

Congrats on the 2 lb loss, YH!! You are doing so awesome!!

I'm right with you this week -- lost 2 lbs also so I am FINALLY under the dreaded 300 number!!

I know I am obsessed with the scale. But it does help me to hop on it frequently during the week. If I see it moving in the right direction, it encourages me to stay on plan. If I see it moving in the wrong direction, it makes me more determined to get back on track. Those lbs can creep up on me quickly, so I'd rather know exactly where I stand every single day and not just once a week.

Dh actually said he'd go out to dinner & the movies to celebrate our anniversary (big shock since we haven't gone to the movies in YEARS), but as luck would have it, there are no good movies playing this wkd. So I'll take a rain check on that and we'll at least go out to dinner tonight. We're going to try a new steakhouse that opened up a few months ago. We aren't married very long compared to some of you -- but 9 yrs is still something to celebrate. No romantic getaway since dh has been traveling all week -- I'm sure he just wants some time at home -- but dinner is fine with me!

I found several articles that said aspartame was bad for you but then I went to Snopes (that's the place that tells you whether it's an urban legend or fact) and it said it was all a crock of you know what, just a legend that aspartame causes all these health problems. Who knows what to believe anymore.

Hope the rain doesn't amount to any flooding at your new home, K. Glad to hear those countertops are finally coming in. How exciting! Can't wait to see your picture -- hope you take it soon! It's always nice to put a "face" to the post.

C, hope your test went okay. Is that something you have to do yearly or every few years? How did you do on weight loss this week?

T, hope you are having a good wkd! Any plans?

YH, what are you doing this wkd? Is bf settled down now? I hope you don't have to plan another escape!!

We had another dusting of snow this morning but at least it's not accumulating. Still pretty cold here though.

Well I am off to change stats. Woo-hoo!!

Yesterday's menu

B-coffee
L-salad with diced skinless chicken
S-2 deviled eggs

Hi, all,

Been "mia" this week with a cold I caught from a colleague which has my asthma worked up.

I have stayed on the diet, but haven't exercised at all this week. Just making it throught the day at work, then home to rest.

I enjoy reading the posts, you all are so encouraging.

Will post later.

D! Into the 2's! Woo-hoo! Girl, you have lost nearly 40 lbs.! Many congratulations. I bet you are feeling really great today. And, Happy Anniversary! 9 years is nothing to sneeze at--it's wonderful, and I know how much you love each other. Where will you go to dinner? Have a wonderful evening.

Speaking of movies, though, we recently watched Juno, which was darling. Do you get Netflix or anything, D? We rarely go out to the movies anymore. Good thing it didn't snow for your tea, huh! The murder mystery luau sounds fabulous--it must be a lot of fun to plan something like that. How many ladies are in your sorority?

K, when are you expecting your latest grandchild? It sounds like pretty soon? Did you get a chance to go walking around the track yet? How convenient is that! You could get a little walking group together. It's nice you like your new job, and what a great idea to bring in low carb snacks for them, then maybe they'll get the idea and do it themselves! Glad you are getting your new countertops in--how exciting! So we're looking forward to getting a picture of you soon, since you got a digital camera, too! It took me several shots also, because mine always come out blurry even tho it has automatic focus. But it was easier than I thought to crop the picture and get it on the avatar. So go for it!

Good to hear from you, SC! Sorry to hear you have had a cold that irritated your asthma--hope you are feeling much better now! Good for you to stay on your diet during your illness; that's when it's tough to hang in there and eat comfort food high in carbs. How much weight have you lost now? Keep up the good work!

C, we all want to know how your tests went--hope it all went well and you are in great health. Are you and dh off having a nice walk somewhere this weekend?

Dh and I just got back from the gym and buffet lunch at the hotel. I probably explained it before, but it is a convention hotel that has a fitness club open to local membership, which we are members of, and the hotel offers 25% discount on meals and services to the fitness club members. So we have their nice salad bar-buffet lunch 2 or 3 times a week, and always on Saturdays. It's a great deal, and a fun place to go.

Yesterday 4 of my gf's had a b'day lunch for me, so I had a great day. (I was 59 last Sunday.) Nice little gifts like coasters, and candles and beautiful cards w/sentiments. J'adore! Nothing like a girls' lunch out, but unfortunately, it means dessert--uh-oh! So my weight loss has stalled, but actually I'm grateful it isn't up! So, K, Monday I'm getting with you and getting back to induction-style dieting!

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! T.

P.S. YH, I meant to tell you that a banger is one of those English sausages kind of like a bratwurst, which you should know a lot about since you used to live in WI, right? BTW, I spent a summer working in Madison when I was in college, and ate those things like crazy. They were in every bar and restaurant in town! Lately I've been on a bratwurst, bockwurst, and banger kick for breakfast--like the bangers the best! Re the rabbit--my dad and brothers used to hunt them and squirrel when I was growing up in Indiana, and yes (I know you are all probably going ewww!), we ate them. You don't often see rabbit on menus except at French restaurants, and this one is trying to be somewhat French. I have to say, it was delicious!

Congratulations on yet another 2 lbs. off! Girl, you are just AMAZING! You're going to reach your goal in no time!

How's it going with bf by now--did you decide to answer his calls yet? Sounds like his threat to move was just blowing smoke. Hope it all blows over! That's a funny story about Betty Crocker--it's amazing how many people want to bring unhealthy food to their work environments! I guess it's so they can feel free to eat up! Have a great weekend-- T.

Welcome back SC- hope your feeling better now.

That is a nice deal you have with the gym membership / hotel - and your birthday lunch sounds fun. I looked into a membership at a resort on the beach that had spa usage-gym facilities to die for but it was 3K to join and 300 a month pp my gf and i went on a free day pass, it was fantastic. BF and I would sneak into places ( nice resorts ) like we stayed there when he did not have this job - that was fun - no one questioned us ever - but we always bought something - food/drink-that was overpriced. The banger thing dawned on me right after that post: I saw Juno this week too - I did not like it - the gal. Saw " A Walk on the Moon " and that was great. Glad you did not gain any weight this week 59 ! - well better than 60 - you look younger in the pic.

Hope your counters got done K - I had granite in one bathroom done about 5 months ago. How far are you from MX. Do you buy everything there ? Now remember Monday is your start day ! A pic would be good too. You can watch yourself at the lodge deal Sun. or go hog wild like I would most likely do because I would know Monday is Start day ! I think your aches will get better when you start some form of exercise and get a dent in the weight. I imagine it will be horribly hot where you are at this summer.

How was the steakhouse D and your date ? I love steak. Thats one thing BF will do - movies and restaurants but I am avoiding restaurants as you know as I do not have great willpower in that area. on your weight loss - thats a big deal - outta the 3's now - whew. Your eating has been very good - not much food- but you have to do what works for you. I wonder if you will have a May snow

I was a bad girl with the snacks Sat. I actually hung out with BF as he got a speech from me and then behaved and did not bring up s3. Went in the pool and did 20 laps with the zoomer fins and hand gloves, did not make it to Curves. The water gloves made it tougher but im ready for them now. Went to one grocery store, picked up a giant bag of Mc D for s3 and bf - I could smell the grease waiting in the drive thru line. I made chicken breasts for dinner and did not eat MC D. Watched some cheesy movies on tv. with BF - I do way better when BF is not around as far as food goes. I also did some callanetics.

Sat.
am- Thomas lite wholegrain english muffin - grapefruit
lunch - apple, fruiti, quaker mini cakes (finished bag -too many).
dinner - chicken breast w green beans
more snacks- pretzels, goldfish, fruiti, ice cream sandwich, fruiti, glass of milk
Ughhh - my downfall - tube and snacks

I hope your ok C and just busy having fun.
