like out of a movie

Well that's such a happy/sad story D!!! I can't believe that in such a small town that the sheriff didn't take the man to jail for being drunk & abusing his dd! It's one of those stories that you almost wouldn't believe if you didn't know the person telling it! But her stupid dad can't take her memories away & she's old enough now to slip out of town to live somewhere else. When you hear those things you are so afraid that sexual abuse has been going on at home for years...or maybe I'm leary cause my brother is a physcologist & I've heard too much.

Glad that the rest of the prom went so well. I was in a huge class like you & didn't go to the prom. But our church had a prom where we went to a fancy resturant & then they had a great after party like the one you had D.
Was a wonderful time & parents knew you were safe & not out drinking & driving. Were around 75 of us I think. Was for juniors & seniors. The college I went to was a small christian school--my high school was huge & had all these problems w/race riots & police in the halls etc so I wanted a small personal school when I left. They had a prom style grad party held at a different ballroom each year. These were great fun too. Being a smaller school of probably 250 students total (had 600 in my hs grad class) they let all classes attend to have the #'s needed to rent the ballrooms I suppose. Went to 3 of those. So I had 5 fun times of getting all excited & dressed up. They are all special memories. The proms here the last 10yrs have been like the ones you are telling about YH w/all the rentals of blocks of motel rooms & drinking & fighting etc Most of my friends kids didn't even want to go to their proms for those reasons.

Well D it's snowing here this morning LOL!!! Been warm enough that it's not going to stick but it was not a happy thing to open the bedroom curtains this a.m. to blowing snow Good thing we went outside yesterday.

We had a great day yesterday. Was so cool yesterday that the island pretty much just had it's residents & a few die hard fisherman so we really enjoyed it. We parked & dh took a lot of pics & I walked the road & enjoyed looking at the swan pairs & ducks etc. He'd drive down the road & find me when he was done. There are only 4 roads I think. And we did a small portion of a marsh walk off the island on our way home but it was pretty cold w/the lake breeze by then. So I did get some exercise. YH from the Ohio/MI border up thru our area is basically one city connecting to another. Going north from us in about a 1/2hr you start to hit a little bit of farm land that subdivisions & strip malls haven't sucked up. An hour from here & you are getting into the "upnorth" of MI that is still rural & beautiful. That's one thing about the death of the job economy here is that it finally stopped the urban sprawl that has been sucking up mile after mile for the past 25yrs.

Well I am baking 2 cherry turnovers for dh this morning. He loves a sweet treat w/his morning coffee on weekends. I will make myself more bacon & eggs after I do this post. Yesterday we ate at the only place on the island which is a bar. Beautiful view of the lake while eating. Just a plain local place if you know what I mean. We usually look for these places when we travel cause they so often have the best food. Food was just bar food & not all that good. But was fun to sit in with all the locals & the view was great. Had to pick apart a sandwich & I did eat a few deep fried mushrooms w/ dh....took the batter off the first couple & ate just the mushroom but then, well you know....lol Dh didn't want any dinner at home later on & neither did I really. But he did get out the potato chips my mom had sent him thru me the day before & I had 6 of those. So hopefully 6 chips & some breading will equal one meal count wise and be the dinner we didn't eat.

Great job on the prom eating D!!! What an excuse you had to just give in & nibble---and you didn't!! The fact you didn't is even more important than the fact that you only ate chicken fingers, if that makes any sense to you.
You will be all sore & swollen this a.m. I'm sure so just take it easy girl. Your son sounded handsome--am sure him & his date were a beautiful pair! And he's dating older women already...LOL!! Wish you could post a pic of them for us to see. Hearing all this stuff makes me feel so old

YH dh's cousin owned his own business which Hulette Packard bought a few years back so they are having a nice early retirement. I live thru all the trips they do....they did the Galapagos too and the pics were great! He worked really hard over the years so I don't begrude them their good times--but that doesn't stop me from being jealous LOL!!!!! And your Curves #'s sound great
I'm not sure how you lost that many inches in the few trips I'd thought you'd made to Curves....you must have been going more than I realized. Now your pants will really fall off! You need to tell ds to go to skinny girls apt for a few days so you can get into room & start sorting out some much smaller size clothes!!

Well gal's this is turning into a book per usual so I best get a move on! I've sure I will be back a couple times more today...I am so addicted it's silly

LOL C, I am right with you in this addiction. Here I am coming home after being out all night and where was the first place I went??!!

I loved reading about your adventures, C. Felt like I was right along with you and dh!! What a wonderful day the 2 of you shared! Tomorrow I will accompany dh to his dentist appt, we'll shop & go out to lunch too. Not as big an adventure, but fun to share the day all the same.

Speaking of world traveling....my father called to tell me that he & my stepmother are flying to PARIS this week. Will stay there a couple of days and then will take an 8-day cruise on a riverboat up the Seine River, stopping at different ports, final destination Normandy. Then they will turn around and stop at yet even more ports and back to Paris for another couple of days. I am VERY envious!! Somehow a trip to the dentist seems so pathetic in comparison. YH, I'm ready for those Galapago Islands whenever you are!!

Ds2 won lots of prizes in the auction last night, $20 gift card to KMart, $25 gas certificate, $10 Dairy Queen gift card, 2 free movie passes, lots of McDonald's coupons, a "bag" chair, water jug, dvd tower, etc. Oh and guess what they sent home with me? A pizza!! I put it in the refrig and will send it back to college with ds1 today so it is out of my sight. Don't know why I took it except that it just seemed natural to say yes when they were passing out the leftovers.

I remember after my prom, we all went to the beach but my bf was not a big drinker so it was more of a romantic get-away than a drunken one. Probably not any better since I was only 17 & I'm sure my parents would have much more appreciated me being chaperoned than at the beach alone with bf in the middle of the night!!

Both ds's are sleeping still but I woke up when dh woke up. I'm still dragging so I'm sure I'll get a nap in later. Was smart this year and took a sm throw pillow with me to sit on. Those metal folding chairs do me in every year. So my hips don't bother me this morning, wish I had thought of it last year -- I was in severe pain then. This yr is not too bad. My feet are swollen and burning. Never thought to put them up during the night. So I will work on that today. But at least I am able to walk.

Sorry you got the snow now, C! I hope it stays warm enough that it keeps on melting. Sun is shining here and I think it's supposed to stay warm the next few days. Please!!

So YH, is this a movie wkd? Any good ones? Our nearest rental place is an hour away, so we watch a lot of regular tv. I think that is how today will be spent, in bed & in front of the tube and hopefully not in front of the refrig!

Yesterday's menu:

B-coffee
L-2 sl turkey breast, 2 sl cheese
D-steak, cauliflower, lettuce
S-string cheese, pork rinds, breaded chicken tenders

Happy Sunday! D

Just back from grocery shopping and Walgreen's bonanza and here I am again.
My new find was WW english muffin-1 pt - probably not great but I had to buy them - I passed on the quaker cakes as I am eating too many. Maybe the muffin will satisfy me more in the evening, I don't think a smigeon of jelly or the ff butter/marg. would hurt too much. Ill make a pork or beef roast today. My plan was the pool for exercise but pouring rain all day, everyone still sleeping here of course. BF got movies from the library yesterday but don't know what they are. Did you ever try that netflix ( movies by mail ) D ?
Oh gosh - get that pizza out of there ! What a nice day you had C - I would go camping in MI but I think the other way - Lake Superior area. Thats a hoot about the camping - I'm with you D - give me a 5 star resort plzzz....when the boys were young we did all the cottaging / camping stuff, my mom would come too, the ex sob did not. I think the RV thing would be fun but how do you buy one and put gas in it Once I dated a nudist for awhile - we went to all these nudie places, geez... He was a nice guy but the nude thing got old. Don't fry that bacon in the nude C !!!
Geez D.. I think you should go on that trip with your dad ! Sounds like the prom was nice except for Cinderella ending - uggghh- the evils of alcoholism. I have not been at Curves that long, I joined right after D - I am giving credit to Callanetics for the inch loss but its hard to pinpoint one thing. I have not seen the skinny gal here again - S3 states she has a BF in the hoosgow - he was with a diff. one last nite ! I think he meets all these gals on my space or maybe the beach. He really likes the skinny gal tho - I told him he does not need to get involved with someone that has a maybe BF in jail but what do I know. He showed me skinny gal's pic and she is a knockout. Today will be rest and the tube - try to be good with the eats !

Progress report! =)

Hi all! Still lurking and enjoying all your adventures, and gaining strength vicariously! I have been on a tough plateau. I just got back from the doctor's office and weighed in. I knew you would all be happy for me as I am down to 259 LBS! That is 45 lbs. off so far!!! I am so happy!

I hope this finds you all doing well...and losing! Hang in there!

Take Care

I am looking forward to trying out those Callanetics tapes but will wait till I am home alone. No sense giving the entire family that much reason to make fun of me.

Has the rain let up any, YH? It's really sunny here today. Still have snow on the ground but it's melting.

Yes, we had Netflix for a few yrs but the kids monopolized it and I never got a chance to rent a movie because they always had one out and kept them longer than needed so we cancelled it. I might start it up again since it's only ds2 home now and he shares better than the others. Dh doesn't like watching movies tho. He'd rather watch a sitcom because he falls asleep in the middle of a long movie. Plus we don't have the same tastes -- we both like comedies but he goes for those slapstick ones and I hate those.

Laughing about you dating a nudist. What courage you have! I don't care how skinny I was, I don't think I could walk around naked with a bunch of strangers. Course these days no one is inviting me to do that anyway.

Took a little nap but the phone woke me up. I might try to go lay back down again. Hope you're enjoying your wkd! Hey C & T, hope you are having fun too!

P.S. Some of those sugar-free jellies are pretty low in calories and taste good. Oh what I would give for an English muffin!!

D

Well, it's bedtime but I just wanted to say hi for today. HB, it is good to hear from you and hear that you lost another 5 lbs.!

Congratulations, D, on not eating pizza at the prom, and then bringing one home and not eating that one, either--you are a superwoman! What a tragic ending to the Cinderella tale, D. How traumatic for you to have to go through that! I hope the girl does get away from that awful dad--he sounds like a terrible abuser. You'd think the sheriff would have thought about investigating the drunk father! Hope you had a nice restful day today, D.

Sounds like you had a really fun day up at the island, C. Very romantic. I love to go into bars and eat, too, and get a feel for the local folks. You get a real feeling of being connected, and sometimes the food is really good, too. Too bad it wasn't, but you still enjoyed it, eh! Congrats on going easy on the eating the rest of the day!

YH, what did you do today? I hope you did something fun and/or relaxing.

We went to another chamber music concert! Just here locally, and it was the last one of the season for this group. They played music with Asian influences, quite a different program from the usual things you hear, so I enjoyed it a lot. Then dh and I just hung out watching TV and I got some Chinese take-out. Duck, mixed veggies, and eggplant. I'm sure it was more calories than I needed, but not too bad, I hope!

Have a good start to your week, everyone--enjoy your excursion to the dentist, D! At least it's not you in the chair! T.

Did not do much on Sunday - bad rain all day so watched the tube with BF. Sould have went to the gym but could not bring myself to drive in the rain. I usually get documentarys or dramas when I rent movies, alot of foreign films if im in the mood to read the subtitles, not into comedy's. I dislike sitcoms and so does BF. The nudist thing - the people were all shapes and sizes - older - families- and very educated for the most part, alot of really nice people, at least thats how it was ten yrs. ago. I never thought I could do it but after one time it was no big deal and actually a pleasant experience. Im glad you got to go to another concert T - sounds like you and dh do more things together than the rest of us here other than the tube events. Yep, view those tapes alone for sure D, you have to concentrate, I dont let anyone here see me do them, I do it here and there from memory as I have nowhere to watch the dvd unless S3 is gone, there are some I cannot do. My roast turned out good - I am actually googling easy recipes for meat now and cooking them better - I overcooked stuff before I am finding out - my mother overcooked everything and it was habit.

Sun.
am - yogurt, tangerine
lunch - english muffin w ff butter, shrimp cocktail
dinner - rare roast beef and few bites of mashed potatoes
snacks - fruiti's -2 and goldfish pac

Good morning!

Good to hear from you T. Was wondering what you were doing this wkd. Sounds like you had a very nice time at your chamber music event. Is this indoors or outdoors?? Dh & I went to an outdoor wedding on a golf course in the Rocky mtns in Denver this summer where they had chamber music during the ceremony. Really added to the beauty & sophistication of the wedding.

Chinese food and English muffins. Sounds so good!! I am jealous. I sent that pizza back to school with ds1 without even having one bite! Whew. Glad to get it out of my house. That was a HUGE temptation sitting in my refrig yesterday.

Sounds like you are really into cooking these days, YH. I love a good roast. We had a fish day yesterday. Dh fried up some Alaskan pollack (which I had a nibble of but since he breaded it with cornmeal, flour & breadcrumbs, I didn't eat any) and pan-seared some scallops and broiled some bacon & shrimp. Was very yummy and low-carb.

Yesterday's menu:

B-coffee
L-scallops, bacon-wrapped shrimp, broccoli, 2 sl tomato
D-pork chili (no beans)
S-string cheese, pork rinds, 10 almonds

My friend & I are going to Curves this morning and then out for salads for lunch. This afternoon, dh & I will venture to his dentist appt, do some shopping and go to the new Mexican restaurant for supper. We went there once and I loved their chicken taco salad so I'll probably get that again. Ds2 asked that we bring him home Chinese takeout.

Another sunny day here. How's the snow, C? Hope it stopped raining for ya, YH. I imagine you always have nice weather, T, lucky you!

Well my friend just called to say we're on for today so I better go get ready.
Have a great day ladies! D

Well I've been for my mamog & bone density already & back home w/my coffee. Was thinking about walking to the video store to return our dvds, it's past the bulk food store. Actually it's 1 mile each way. Am sure I could do it but it would take a couple hours round trip I'm sure & I
don't think I want to give up that much time today now that I think about it. So scratch that. I will do the gazelle. Did it for 30mns yesterday. Then too I have the water arb class tonight.

I can understand the nude thing YH just not w/other folks around. Like D said even if I was a size 0 I wouldn't want to do a group. I have always thought it would be an interesting experience to sit naked in the warm sun surrounded by the swaying grasses I see out west...seems like it would be such a soothing experience....can't imagine the amount of sunblock I'd have to use....lol!!
Your menus have been sounding really good lately--like the kind of eating you can do the rest of your life. I had the ww eng muff in the past & thought they were good. Did 'em toasted w/ the all fruit spread & the jam made w/Splenda. Preferred the flavor of all fruit spreads. Did you ck out the ww ice cream cups?

Congrats on the 45lbs HB That's grand! I can tell that you are still walking w/your pack. Did you get to biking yet? I brought mine up from the basement & then realized that I couldn't do it w/my hands right now.

I use to camp w/my cousin when our kids were small & I just loved it!! We used the state parks w/the pit toilets-which were always very clean-& bathed the kids in the lake at nite. Kids slept in the tent & she had a 30yr old camper that her & dh traded something for that we slept in. DH isn't into camping at all. We borrowed equip once & tried it but the only thing he liked was the bonfire at nite.

Well D at least it's dh under the drill today not you LOL!! I so hate that drill.....I need to get scheduled into the dentist & so does dh. We have some dental insur now which is great. Doesn't pay for it all but any part is a help.
I have to schedule the echo & stress today. Still haven't scheduled the hand dr yet. Gee makes me feel ancient to be trying to fill my calender w/all these medical appts...

My eating was on track yesterday but when I stepped on the scale this a.m it said 237. The bouncing up & down will drive you crazy. Today I've got food lined up & exercise so I should be ok.
bft=bacon & eggs
l=ck cassr w/artichoke salad
d=mexican meatballs salad
s=?

D I made that ricotta cream. One in the mocha & one in the lime zest. NASTY So much for the pudding sub. Darn was really hoping

Ok off to library to get Callenetic dvd

Wow, im proud of you C, a mammo and a bone - all in one day. You guys have inspired me to go to the doc which is Thurs., not sure if thats good or bad - I have a list going.. And the gazelle thing I can't do the gazelles - I went for a body wrap once and you had to go on something similiar all wrapped up like a mummy on top of it, I thought I would die. We want to know all about the water class. The english muffin was good yesterday - it was bread What tape did you get at the library ?

Hope the report was good for dh at the dentist today and glad you are getting to Curves. Are you all rested up ?

I ordered a Callanetics for your Back book today - ancient and only .99 cents ! The shipping was 4.00. I always wanted that book. Having leftover roast beef for dinner, picked up subway for s3. We are having a cold front tonite so probably 70's tommorrow. I am hoping I can sleep tonite as I don't want to miss class on Tues. again.

Thank you so much! I've missed you guys! I am so thrilled that I am losing again after such a dry spell. For the last few weeks I have had a dreadful chest cold that made breathing difficult. I could barely work, and my walking had to take a back seat. But just today I walked again (the mile with loaded backpack - I always walk back and forth to the bus four times daily [split shift] - it's part of my daily routine here at work), and I am just about to begin Curves with my friend/co-worker Melanie. She's already going.

No bike yet, but the Curves idea should help right now. C - my hands bother me too (severe carpal tunnel syndrome due to all the driving) and I really hear you about the bike. Sometimes it's like a shard of glass being jammed through my palms. Really sharp pain. But I'd like to try again now that I have a bit of the mountain of fat off. One shovelful at a time.

So glad to hear from all of you! I need to nap right now - got only 4 hrs. of sleep last night. Not getting up with insomnia like YH, but just ran out of time for sleep...like now! TTYL

Well I'm back from my water class. Tired but not sore--that's what I like about it. 7:30 class was full so we had to take the 8:30, but that's ok cause there were only 5 of us. Pool all to ourselves. So now I am trying to just drink my water & go to bed. Don't want to see that stupid 237 again in the morning

Go to the doc now before they change your insurance YH! That was part of what I decided--get a reading on everything now cause who knows about a few months from now. We've had so many changes over the last few years. I'm calling tomorrow to schedule the last round & will call the hand doc too. Will have to do my right hand for sure as it really bothers me. Couldn't do a couple of the exercises with the boards tonight cause it was too much on my wrists pushing the wgt of the water away from me.
No Callanetics anything at the library--everything was Pilates.

Had 3carb wwheat tortilla by LaToritilla Factory. They make regular ones too but I remembered them as being some of the better lc ones from before. It was ok. The lc breads just aren't all that great. With SB when I get to phase 3 I can at least make a good quality loaf of grain bread that I will enjoy. The mexican meatballs were good & easy to make. Made extra sauce so dh could have some over rice. Were made with tky breast & you couldn't tell--dh didn't have a clue. It was Honeysuckle White & did not have that strong bird taste. Maybe I will use it for more stuff. Had their Brautwurst over the weekend on the George Forman grill & they were also very good.

Well ladies I'm off to bed. am pretty sure I will sleep like a baby

Congrats on all the exercising, C! 30 min. on the gazelle, and water aerobics! That sounds like a lot of fun. Do you mainly stand and do exercises, or do you swim? I would love to do that but the chlorine bothers my dry skin. Sounds like you are really going to enjoy it, C. Your little bump up in weight is probably just water retention from the extra exercise.

Sorry to hear you were so sick, HB, but glad you're doing better now, and back into walking! Hope the transit system will do something for you in regard to your hand pain since the driving must have caused or aggravated it. I guess we're all finding out our bodies are not able to endure all this physical stress for years on end!!

D, I hope you had a good workout at Curves today, and a fun lunch with your friend--you deserve it after all the volunteer work you've been doing lately! And glad you have some sunny weather. Maybe you'll be able to wear those capris this week after all! Our musical event was indoors. We don't have a good outdoor venue for chamber music, but they do have things like blues in the park, but I have a very hard time sitting on the ground, so don't go to things like that these days.

YH, glad your roast came out well. I love rare roast beef, especially on salad. Did it stop raining there so you could get to Curves or swim? Hope you had a better day today.

I went to the gym yesterday with dh before we went to the music, and went for a little walk in the arboretum today. It's gorgeous up there now; everything's blooming and there's so much pink and yellow and purple--it's like walking through a sunset! Very windy here, though, and everybody's allergies are kicking up. Oops, I see it's past bedtime! Have great days tomorrow, everyone! T.

I am glad the water exercise class was good C, can you choose the 830 every week now - the small class would be much better. I got the scale going up too now but know this can happen. I think maybe just go on it once a week but then maybe we need to keep it in check like D does. I think the water aerobics/swimming would be so good for you T - I know there are products to block the chlorine if you are that sensitive - one that comes to mind is derma swiss pro - apply before the pool - and after you shower a lotion that you pat on - never rub. How are you doing D - I hope the mex. rest. was still good along with the rest of your day. What do you do at the gym T ?

Mon.

am - cantelope, red grapes, and plum
drink potion

lunch - salad - red leaf lettuce w 1 egg, 1 babybel, gr. pepper and tomato
( I am getting sick of the pre packaged salad bags - not lasting and
no nutrition in iceberg lettuce so now on the bunches of lettuce ) Still
using good season's mix w olive oil & and braggs apple cider vinegar.

dinner - roast beef - few bites of mash potatoes

snack - fruiti, 9 animal crackers, 1 goldfish pac

Hello ladies! Yesterday was such a busy day that I didn't have time to post last night and I missed that!!

Got my Curves in. Asked to be measured but the gal was too busy and I had things to do so I didn't want to wait around. Will try again on Wed.

Went out to lunch for salads afterwards. Dh called to say he was home waiting on me. Ran to the bank and then met up with a former co-worker so my friend & I stopped to chat. BIG mistake. I had told dh I would be home by 1 pm. Got home at 1:45 so then I had to rush around and get changed quickly to go to dentist. Poor dh. He had an abcessed tooth so they pulled it. They told him his peridontal disease was so far gone it wasn't even worth doing a cleaning on him and that eventually he will have to have all his teeth pulled and go for dentures. I wasn't happy to hear that, he is only 48 yrs old.

I read a couple of magazines while waiting on dh at the dentist. Got a kick out of the new diet fads. One is the "S" diet. You can only eat snacks or sweets on days that begin with S (wkds). All other days, you can eat whatever you want, as long as it is only 3 meals per day and only one helping per meal. The other diet was even funnier. One guy went on an all bean diet, eating 6-8 cans of beans a day, and lost 140 lbs. Don't think I'd want to be downwind of him.

We did lots of shopping and later stopped at the Mexican restaurant for supper. I had a chicken taco salad but didn't eat the shell. It didn't hold me over so well this time, maybe because I skipped breakfast, had a salad for lunch and no snacks all day. I bought this new flatbread, 6 carbs and it's a pretty big size. So I had roast beef & cheese in that when I got home at 8 pm because my tummy was grumbling by then. Stopped me from snacking the rest of the night so that was good.

Yesterday's menu:

B-coffee
L-salad w/grilled skinless chicken in it
D-chicken taco salad (no shell)
S-1 sl roast beef, 1 sl provolone, 1 flatbread

I'm off for a pampering day today. Going to get my nails done and a pedicure too!! Tomorrow I get my hair highlighted and cut. The weather was gorgeous yesterday, keeping my fingers crossed that Thurs will be the same and then I can wear my capris!!

C, I am so glad you enjoyed the water aerobics class! That is definitely going to fast-forward your weight loss. And T, sounds like you got some good exercise in with the gym and walk (which sounds so beautiful, all those pretty colored flowers!!). I'm so happy that you both are doing so well.

YH, a cold front in the 70's?? Oh girl, you need to come visit me in January when it's below zero here. I hope you got your rest and are able to go to your class tonight. I know how much you like it and it certainly is paying off. You are doing so awesome!! I try to eat the green leafy lettuce as much as possible. Much more nutrients in it than the iceberg and I think it tastes better too. Funny the book was only 99 cents and the shipping was $4. That's how it was when I ordered the Callanetics tapes, paid more for the shipping than the tapes!

Well certainly sounds like everyone is starting the week out great with all this exercising and good eating. Keep it up ladies!

Hi Ladies,

I am so sorry about your dh's teeth, I hate for this to happen to anyone - I just shelled out big bucks for s1 to have his teeth fixed on a credit card because they told him he will lose his teeth if he does not have all this stuff done. It was not peridontal tho, are you sure they can't do anything - second opinion ? Was this ongoing and inevitable ? I have spent so much money keeping mine. Thats so funny - on my last visit to get my crown I read the same diet - I would gain 5 on the weekend and lose 1 M-Fri.

Looks like im going to miss my class again, I am tired and stopped at Curves on the way home thinking ill get a pick me up if I stop there. I hit my ankle bone very hard going from one station to another and it is all swollen now like an egg and I am limping so Im going to lay down with some ice on it. I probably should have never signed up for the classes until I get my sleep under control but its a 10 class pass and I could go there on a weekend and take something else. I was just so excited to find a Callanetics class and did not think about a weekday night issue with my no sleeping.

Just made tacos for the guys and skinny gal is here. She seems nice and was very gracious and told me the tacos were delish This gal does not look as skinny as the jeans and bra - but its the same car. Just think - we could be a sz 0 and look like an 8

At this point, I'd take the 8 without even considering a 0!!!!! Sad to say, but I was a size 8 when I married my ex-husb. Ugh. I doubt I'll ever get to that size again but I would be happy with a 14 or 16 now. Just out of the plus sizes and into a regular L would be fine with me! Glad she turned out to be such a nice girl.

Sorry you hurt your ankle! Sounds very painful. It's hard to juggle a full-time job and a late night class to begin with, but especially with your sleeping schedule, and now this added injury. Can you maybe put your class "on hold" till you get things figured out??

Dh's had teeth problems for awhile, We just never thought it was this bad. Now I am even more determined to be careful with mine because I do not want to suffer like he is, poor guy. He's at the point where he just wants all his teeth pulled but I am the one begging him not to. I feel that it's a huge decision and once it's done, there's no going back so I want him to really think it over.

I've been very careful with my eating today, even packed my lunch and ate it in my vehicle on the way to get my nails done. The scale is moving in the right direction so I am hopeful for a better week than last!

Well supper is almost ready so I better go finish things up. Be back later!

Oh, that is too bad about your dh, D. I'm with YH on looking into a second opinion. Over 20 years ago a dentist told me I was going to have to have gum grafts because my gums were bleeding. Boy, was he wrong! I actually had been on a low-cal diet and was nutritionally deficient, that's the only reason my gums were bleeding. I haven't had any problems since then. Maybe I wasn't flossing enough, too. Although, dentures aren't the end of the world--that's what everybody used to do.

You're doing great on your eating, D. You got hungry in the evening and ate something acceptable--that's when I usually go overboard. Good for you! I got my pedicure yesterday, and am getting my haircut and highlights Thursday, so I guess this is our week to pretty up! Now if we can just shed a few lbs., too! I found out that eating Chinese food two days in a row is a very bad idea--my weight went up 2 lbs. even tho I thought I was eating low carb! I think there is just more sugar in those sauces than you can tell, and of course, the salt. I hope it's just water!

YH, sorry to hear your weight went back up a bit, but it's probably just a natural fluctuation--you don't eat that much! Too bad you're too tired to go to your callanetics class. I hope there's no time limit on your pass so you can get all your money's worth eventually. At my gym, I just ride the bike for a few minutes, do the chest press, inner thigh machine, tricep pulldown, leg extension front and back, and gentle ab crunches. Never use more than 20 lbs. on the machines or it makes me too sore, but it's enough to help me stay in some kind of minimum shape. I hope! I would think you are very close to your goal now, YH. Are you still thinking of going to 120? That seems very thin for 5'4". I'm only 5'2" and I'm going to be happy to be in the low 140's I think, although I would love to weigh in the 120's or 130's. Fun to meet the size 0 gal--maybe the 1 wore off the label so she's really a size 10!

C, was today the day you were getting more medical tests? Hope they all turn out perfect!

I went to the gym and walked up at the arboretum again today. Did OK for lunch w/salad, turkey, berries and wh cr. I have to drop my car off at the shop this evening so we are going out to dinner downtown. I will try to be good! Take care, Gals! T.

I see there is a new book out - South Beach Diet Supercharged - do you have this one yet ?

D and T getting all beautified this week Are you still a bonde T and same hairstyle as pic ? I just know you will be able to wear your outfits D !

The goal of 120 weight is probably more like a dream weight - I am trying to factor in that I want to quit smoking at some point and know I will gain. I have not been near 120 in 30 years. The closer I get the more difficult the weight will come off - I can tell this already, age makes a big difference dropping these pounds. When I got married I was a size Junior 3 ! As far as 120 for 5'4" I don't think that is too thin, not according to all those charts anyway. The lowest I ever made it with all the diets over the years was 132.

Your gym workout sounds just fine - I would not mess with the weights either or you may get hurt. The Chinese food - probably the salt like C said about my 2 pounds with the pizza. Oh, my pizza/sub man got stabbed yesterday - he was so nice - S3 heard on news - right down the street - Ill look for it in today's paper - not sure if dead or not - had a big conversation with the guy last week-he closed at 600pm everyday-happened at around 400pm Tues. Geez !

Your doing great with the food D I see DH really needs to think hard on the teeth pulling - my friend at work had all her's pulled and is miserable and advises to do everything you can to keep your teeth.

Wed.

am- cantelope and red grapes

lunch- lipton cup o soup, 1 egg, 1 babybel, handful of kashi, 6 oz of ff milk, few blackberries

dinner - Lean Cuisine chick parmesan ( 260 cals )

snacks - goldfish pac, fruiti, 1 reg. plain rice cake

Refresh my memory : What are your daily carb limits ?

Hey T it's probably whatever that daily fluctuation that our bodies do. I was 236 today. Ate fine yesterday--even went to bed hungry & got up to being up 1lb. Seems to be a 3lb range that we float in that doesn't really reflect on our actual fat lost. Chinese food is salty.

Thanks for the infro on the derma swiss pro YH. My skin always itches so bad after pool time. Since I'm always in a highschool locker room the showers are always so cold that I just put on my clothes & come home to shower. So it's dried onto my skin by then & I really have to scrub it off. But I enjoy the pool so much I just endure it. This time it's only once a week. And yes the class is the 8:30 class--when we signed up the 7:30 was full so we had to sign up for the 8:30, now we're glad it worked out that way.

Seems like everyone has been on track so far this week. Here's to good #'s by the weekend!!

Yesterday's menu:
Bft=bacon & eggs
L=at friends house & she's from Japan so she made us sushi & apple slices (so funny to watch her little 16mo old scarfing down seaweed/shrimp/asparagras)
d=Sante Fe Steak w/veggies
s=tky pastrami wrapped around lf swiss dill pickles

Today's my long day w/2 clients so I will do better about packing my lunch & dinner so I don't do a huge protein overload like last Wed.

Haven't seen the book but have found that usually that kind of a thing is a marketing ploy to start some revenue back into an old idea. Usually not any real new infro. But I will check it out to be sure.

Off to the shower--have a great day gal's!! Suppose to be 68 here

That's awful about your pizza man YH!! You never know what's gonna happen anymore. Wonder if he was robbed?

Hope you enjoyed your glamour days D & T!!

Terrible thing about your pizza man. And in broad daylight too. Geez.

I don't think 120 is too thin for your height. I am about 5'6" and I weighed 135 lbs when I married my ex-husb and I think I was still a little chunky in my thighs. It really depends on how you carry your weight. Two people can be the same height & weigh the same exact but look like they weigh totally different. I think it's smart to plan when you want to quit smoking. It would be a good idea to quit when you are still gung-ho about losing weight. I quit when I was going thru all the health issues ...very bad timing on my part, was too overwhelmed with finding out about MS & new weight-gaining meds & the lbs just piled on.

Dh was up all night in tremendous pain. Very cranky, which I don't blame him, but it's not his normal disposition so it's very hard to deal with. I've told him about 2nd opinion several times but you know how men are. I imagine the pain will get bad enough that he will do something but until then, not much I can say to change his mind. He's got an appt with the dr for tomorrow if he still has the pain then. I'm thinking the infection is still active but he thinks it has to be gone since he already went thru a round of antibiotics. To me, they weren't strong enough or he needs a longer period on them but we'll see. I hope I survive thru this -- he does not suffer silently and it about drives me crazy that he won't take my advice on how to make it better!!

I got my sauna belt in the mail yesterday. It's not as good as YH's meltbelt, a much cheaper version, but it seemed to work fine last night, so we'll see. I also got the 2 other Callanetics tapes in the mail the other day but haven't had a chance to view them alone. This is a busy week for me, on the go everyday.

My hair appt is at 1 pm today. Friend called last night and wants to go to Curves this morning. I am really debating. That would eat up my entire day since it's an hour there and an hour back plus the hour we spend at Curves and out to lunch afterwards and then I'd have to go straight to my hair appt. I have so much to do for the Spring Tea this wkd. I still need to write 2 speeches and make several phone calls. Plus I volunteered to make spring "flower" cookies, deviled eggs, ham salad in phyllo cups & a fruity sun ice tea (all for 60 ppl). Dh will help me with the tea & he makes an awesome ham salad. Tomorrow is our big Founder's Day celebration in a town 3 hours away. Nice dinner & awards & entertainment. I am driving 7 of us and we are leaving at 3:30 in the afternoon and won't be home till after midnight. These are the 2 events I want to wear the capris for. Weather was gorgeous yesterday. Slept with the window open last night. Hear we are in for another cold front tomorrow tho so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Is your friend going to water aerobics with you, C? I remember you saying you were hoping she would. Sounds funny about her 16 mo old eating sushi. I tried it for the first time last month. Yuck!

Yesterday's menu:

B-string cheese, coffee
L-1 sl roast beef, 2 sl provolone, 1 flatbread, string cheese
D-pork strips in "taco" salad (lettuce, salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese)
S-string cheese, babybel lite, pork rinds, 3 sm pcs sugar-free candy

Have a great day everyone -- halfway thru the week and we are doing awesome --- keep it up ladies!! D

Carb Count

I don't know about C & T, but I try to keep my daily carbs between 20-30 if possible. Yesterday was a good day and they were around 18. But most days are closer to 30 realistically because veggies have a good amount of carbs and I usually have at least spinach or broccoli everyday.

Will check out that new book and see what all has changed. I like the 2nd rounds on these diets, sometimes they come up with a new angle that helps better with the weight loss. Thanks for the info.

Hi, y'all,

So glad to be back home.
I've been gone to a continuing ed conference for my work which was out of state.

Despite all the hotel food, dinners, airport temptations, the scale says I am up 0.6lb, most probably from bloat.

Today, it is back on track.

I try to keep my carbs under 40 daily. I usually stay in the 30-38 range/daily.

Yellow hair, I have glanced at the South Beach Supercharged book, but I am continuing to do well on PP, so I am relunctant to change. I think the South Beach plan overall started out pretty low carb wise, then gradually increases.

Here is my plan for today:
B- splash of whipped cream over lc cereal
L- deli ham/turkey chef salad, slice lc bread
S- dill pickle, pimento cheese on lettuce
D- shrimp stir fry, tossed green salad, sf jello.

Hope to get good numbers at the end of this week.

I missed y'all.

Good to hear from you SC, thats amazing you did not gain weight on your bus. trip - your menu's look great - How often are you doing the callanetics - any other exercise ?

Let me know if you get the derma swiss C - I dont need it but always want to know about products. Today is your long day, ughhh. My bother emailed me about the carpal tunnel - he has it too now but is waiting till after Labor Day for the surgery - he does not want his WI summer ruined.

Are you all georgous now T ???

D - the sauna belt looked good to me - does it work ok ?- I may get one for work. DH and the teeth - I was on antibiotics ( diff. ones ) for 2 months straight with a tooth/gum problem once - I hope he comes around but you can only do so much. You are going to be a busy gal ( but you always are ) with the Tea and Founder's Day - that sounds like so much fun. How did your hair turn out ? Whats the latest on your sister and the louse ?

Looks like everybody is doing good so far this week - T gets a spanking for the Chinese food - we should be losing tons

Pizza guy is alive but not great, guy he just hired to clean stabbed him multiple x's because he told him to clean better. Got a pork roast in the oven and stuffing. I guess ill open up a can of exciting green beans for myself. Did 2 loads of laundry - ankle is better.

Lady that shares the office with the witch told me I need to get clothes as mine are too big

Measurements

I got measured at Curves today. I am very pleased with the results & other than watching what I eat, this is the only exercise I've had so it's definitely the Curves working. I started in March so approx 5-6 wks ago:

Bust -3.75"
Waist -2.5"
Mid-section -1.5"
Hips -3"
Thighs -.5"
Arms -1"
Calves stayed the same (probably because I cannot do the leg machine)

Total loss of -12.25"

Now if I can just continue on like that, I'll be happy!

The sauna belt seems to work fine. I'm sure it's not as heavy-duty or good quality as yours, just cheap plastic, so as long as you keep that in mind, it would probably be fine for work. I think I paid $20 altogether including shipping so definitely a cheapie!

I got more blonde put in my hair plus a new hairstyle. Went back to bangs, much shorter layers, more fullness. No more long straight flat hair.

Glad you're back SC. Great that you maintained so well while you were gone.

I don't think I'll ever progress to higher carbs just because the low carbs help with my sugar levels in addition to my weight loss.

I have no idea what we're having for supper. Forgot to defrost something. So I better get on that. Hope everyone is having a great day!

D

Wow you girl's are doing good w/inches lost
Seems like Curves really does work! Congrats to both of you!

You did great being gone like that SC & coming home to find you'd only put on .6lbs! That's as good as no gain!!

Time to start digging thru your other clothes YH!! The amount of wgt you've lost you just can't hide it anymore.

Hope dh is feeling better D!! Mouth pain is so bad!!! They can't do anything until the infection is cleared up so he has a bit of time to decide. It's a hard call....fixing it a tooth at a time costs so many thousands of $$!! Hate to think what we have in our mouths....LOL!!! If you get a good fit dentures are ok--know some folks who are quite happy w/theirs. But you really have to be careful that you get that good fit. And most men are babies when sick..no matter how manly the rest of the time. And take medical advice??? Never!! But as you said D they sure don't suffer in silence

Gee I was thinking just the opposite YH--have the surgeries over the summer when I can sit home & enjoy my patio!

Ok I have done good w/my eating today. Did much better at making sure I had enough food in my cooler so when I walked in the door at 7:30 I was not dying of hunger. Eat my food in fits & starts on Wed's. Am hungry now but am going to go to bed & hope to see that stupid scale move in the morning
Bkft=ck casserole coffee w/cream
L & S=1/2 red pepper sliced w/ranch dressing 1oz lf cream cheese on celery stalks 3 sl tky rolled up with 2 sl lf swiss 1 cheese stick 1 baby bel
D=4oz roast beef
Am putting another roast in the crock pot tomorrow morning so that I have some for the fridg. This one is gone as dh did 2 dinners & a lunch off it. Sounds like you are getting a better hand on the cooking YH. Best thing about it is at least the food you do eat tastes good!! The already prepared stuff is good in a pinch but none of it is really good.

Here's to another good day for us all tomorrow!!

Wow, you are really doing great with your eating, C. Congrats on getting back down to 236, and I bet that scale will move again for you in the morning! Sounds like you are really enjoying the swimming, too--I hope the cream works for your skin. Swimming always makes me hungry; maybe the fact that you do it at night is a good idea, then you can just go to bed!

SC, congrats on doing so well while you were away! That is amazing to go through all those temptations and only be up .6! I bet you will really see a drop now that you are home and can eat what you plan.

D, this is sure a busy week for you! The tea sounds like a tremendous amount of work, but I imagine it will just be wonderful--so ladylike and civilized! We want a full report, e.g. what everyone wore, decorations, what was served, any catfights, etc. What are these speeches you're writing? For the tea or another event? What do you have to give a speech about? You sure are a brave girl! BTW, your new hairstyle sounds just darling! It will look cute with those capris! Wish we could see a picture.....

YH, what a terrible thing about the pizza guy! There are so many crazy people out there these days, it's frightening! I sure hope he makes it.

I get my hair done in the morning. It will be the same thing. I have really fine and thin hair so there isn't much that can be done differently to it; I always have to have about the same style--boring! But I did have it dyed red for awhile, that was kind of exciting. My friends didn't care for it too much, but I loved it, at least for awhile! You love to buy new clothes, YH, so why not take your co-workers advice and use that as an excuse to go shopping! Except you probably don't want to spend on in between sizes, huh. But maybe a couple of things; or do you have any small sizes in your closet that you can wear now, as C suggested?

Well, I'm afraid I need another spanking, YH--I really blew it again today, and had both cheesecake and ice cream! I can just about hear you all hollering, so I am going to absolutely, positively go back on induction starting tomorrow morning, even tho my birthday is Sunday and we're going to a fancy restaurant in an old mansion in Los Gatos that I've been wanting to go to for a very long time. And, even tho I really tried to talk her out of it, a friend insisted on getting some of the girls together next Friday for a birthday lunch for me. And dh just informed me he has invited some of his friends to go out to dinner with us next week as well. Do you believe this! It's driving me crazy. I somehow have to get tough and hang tough or I'm just going to fall apart, I've been going down the wrong path for some time now! OK, enough of the hysterics--tomorrow is a new day! Have a good night everybody! T.

Wow T, you have a lot of challenges coming up, don't you? We can't not EVER treat ourselves, we just have to pick & choose the lesser of the evils. If you know you're going to eat b'day cake, then pick an entree that is on plan and fill up on salad & veggies beforehand. Celebrations are not an excuse for going hog-wild, but you don't have to totally deprive yourself either. Take a few bites of the cake, you don't have to eat the whole piece. In fact, I read something recently that said after 3-4 bites, the craving for that specific food goes away anyway, so it's best to chew slowly & really savor those first few bites & then stop eating the indulgence. If anyone questions you, just tell them you are so full, you cannot eat another bite. But at least you got to taste the treat without feeling guilty afterwards or destroying all your hard work. Best thing is to plan ahead and then stick to your plan. Just a suggestion. And by the way....an early wish for a

Our Spring Tea is to honor a woman in our community. I think I wrote about this before so I won't bore you with details again. But we will be using fine china and dressing in our best Sunday outfits. As president, I need to write a speech welcoming everyone (should be about 60 altogether) and then go around the room and introduce all the guests, along with thanking individual people for their help with the Tea. I was going to also write a speech about the First Lady but I've decided to delegate that to someone else because I just don't have the time to do it all myself.

Glad to hear your ankle is feeling better YH. And that your pizza guy survived the attack. What a psycho that employee turned out to be!

C you are doing awesome planning your meals & snacks. Keep up the good work! I just know the scale is going to be very good to you this week.

I gritted my teeth and had hotdogs tonight since I forgot to defrost something for supper. I haven't had a hotdog in forever because they just aren't very healthy, are they? But I did so well the rest of the day, so hopefully it will be okay.

Today's menu:

B-coffee
L-salad w/grilled skinless chicken in it
D-2 hotdogs, 1 flatbread, sauerkraut
S-pork rinds, 2 sm pcs sugar-free candy, string cheese

I found out the menu for our dinner tomorrow night and looks like I'll only be able to eat the brisket & salad and will have to stay away from the potato, corn, rolls & dessert. But at least knowing the menu enables me to plan ahead of time. If I'm really hungry, I will eat a string cheese or 2 before we go so I'm not starving once we sit down for dinner.

Dh is feeling better tonight but may check in with the dr tomorrow anyway as he is going to New Orleans (lucky guy!!) on Monday for a business trip and doesn't want to suffer while he's gone. I have been to New Orleans once and it was amazing, so I am very jealous! I told him once I lose all this weight, I am going to start accompanying him on all these great trips!

Good night ladies D

P.S. My sister is biding her time, trying to figure out if she can keep the house & keep her son in same school, etc., so her husb. is still living there, they are just figuring out how/when they will be splitting up. Ugh. Don't know how she can have him around, knowing that he's cheating on her, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

Cheesecake T - boy I love cheesecake, alot of your socializing involves food so you have to start planning like D says but I know thats hard - my gf asked me to go to Sun. Brunch this weekend at a really nice place on the ocean but I said no - I have to stay away from things like that plus I can't see paying 40.00 for brunch and not eat what I want, she is a naturally thin gal. You look fair skinned in your pic T, I can really see red hair on you and bet it looks great. I heard the same thing as everyone was so use to me being blonde.

My brother figures 6 wks. out of work with the carpal and has summer plans so would rather take his sick time in the fall C - plus he is fairly active and has great GE benefits. You are doing so good with your food-exercise C this week.

Clothes - since the County took us over all the people over the years dress real dumpy casual ( the new and County people ) I am an old timer and when we were the Port Authority we dressed nice - all my smaller work clothes are to dressy for that place now - I always wore cute dresses/skirt outfits/blazers, pantyhose, and sandals. So I cant see dressing up for that place anymore - I want to be as comfortable as possible - show up and leave. I guess I will have to break down and buy a few bermuda/capris and cute t shirts, its very hard dressing for work as my office is 50 degrees and it will be blazing outside and I go in and out for a smoke break.

I am so happy for you D with the inch loss you know my first impression of Curves was this won't do much - but its what you put into it - I see some gals just gabbing and hardly moving but I know you can get a real workout. Its great to see those numbers on paper, huh ! Your new doo sounds nice, the long stringy flat hair had to go. Have a pic taken at one of your events this weekend and post it if you can - but im no one to talk on that subject. The last time I had a hotdog it was the day after a hurricane and there was one place open that only had hotdogs - I got sick afterwards.

Wed.

am-cantelope, apple, and red grapes
lunch-salad w t. breast and babybel cheese
dinner- pork roast and green beans
snacks - golfish pac, fruiti, lc ice cream sandwich

I feel I am eating too many snacks this week.

That would be a pain, going from hot to cold and back again all day. Maybe dress in the t-shirt & capris and leave a sweater or jacket at work to wear while in the office??

The lbs are just falling off me this week. I'm scared to even say anything for fear that I'll jinx myself before my true weigh-in on Saturday, but.....let's just say I've passed the 30 lb mark. Whew. That was one hurdle. My next one is to get rid of those 300 numbers once and for all.

I know what you mean about Curves, YH. My friend has been going with me just as many times as I have. She weighs a little over 200 lbs so not as big as me but still someone who has the weight to lose. But she is not as gung ho as me and she does not watch what she eats. She lost 6.5" overall. Which is still great considering she went so slow. But it did make a difference since I lost twice as many inches as her going at a faster rate. When she stepped on the scale, it showed only a 1 lb loss since March and she said, "darnit, it's that apple pie again." But I'm glad she lost some inches as that will hopefully keep her going.

Yeah, I didn't feel too good after eating those hotdogs either. Dh had polish dogs but those were so much fattier and higher calories that I figured, the hotdog was the lesser of the 2 evils. I was just careful to have only 2 and then not go overboard on the snacking later. See if the snacking affects your weight loss this week, and if so, cut back next week. It does not look like you are eating too much to me but I know how it can get out of control very easily. The snacking is my biggest downfall.

Congrats to you for passing up the brunch buffet! I always figure, if at all possible, stay away from dangerous-eating situations. You have great willpower.

Weather looks good enough for my capris today. But my feet are still too swollen for the new sandals I bought so I will go with my 2nd choice and hope that I get into these new ones sometime soon because they are so pretty. I will try to remember to take a pic.

Have a great day gals!! D
