What a storm

It's a blizzard outside. Had to go to post office to pick up meds and was soaked just getting in and out of my van. Wind is whipping around, heavy wet snow falling. Lots accumulating. The school just called and said they are dismissing the kids in 3 hours. Don't know why they are waiting so long but I guess it's not good for them to let the kids drive right now, not very good visibility and roads are slushy and snow-covered. Maybe they are hoping it will slow down a little later. I heard that it's not supposed to stop snowing till tomorrow.

YH, I got one of the Callanetics tapes in the mail today. The hips/backside one. I haven't looked at it yet but seeing how I've lost satellite with this storm, maybe I will pop it in the vcr and see what it's all about.

SEND WARM WEATHER MY WAY!!! D

P.S. Had to venture outside again to "sweep" off the satellite dish. Broom is the only thing to reach high enough. The dish is around the side of the house and I have no boots so I had to trudge through snow in loafers. Found a pr of the boys' gloves and grabbed my winter coat and guess what?? It zipped!! Haven't been able to do that in a long time. I knew I could find a bright side to this stupid weather!

Well I see that we have need of lots of congrat's here!!!
People starting to notice thinner bodies & coats zipping

T & I to you 2!!! You are a great encouragement to us---& we will be joining the droopy clothes club soon, won't we T ????!!!

Sorry about the snow D....we're getting rain here instead. It's that sharp cold spring air hovering 38-40. The air has that spring smell I love!! But I did change to my spring jacket a tad too soon...lol !! And that's quite the visual of you tromping around the house w/your broom! I haven't had DD's coffee in years either. It is good stuff! I seldom buy coffee out as I have a good pot at home & grind my own beans each time so my coffee is good. Love my coffee! Hate to pay so much for a single cup....& one cup is never enough LOL!!!

New hair to go with the new body YH Celebrate all your hard work--at least when you're alone--do the happy dance naked in front of the mirror!!! How much have you lost total at this point?? I saw these neat WW ice cream cups at Kroger's today. They are 2pts each and had a nice selection of flavors. WW's always had good frozen desserts!

My day has been fine again. Had more protein than SB would like I think--more of an Atkins day. But I want to overdo on protein when I'm in a bind not try to balance out w/veggies. That never works for me. Had a rushed morning & run off to work & left my house keys behind....so on my way home I stopped & did a couple errands so that I only had about an hour to kill in the car in the driveway til dh got home. Thought about going some place warm & getting a cup of coffee but didn't trust myself to not eat something stupid....& didn't want to walk the mall or a store & end up spending money on something I didn't really want. My lunch salad had died so I bought some nice tky pastrami & lf swiss and made me some roll ups in the car & ate them. So 2 days in a row I have not let myself be defeated!! Came in to my wonderful roast cooking away in the crockpot!
Bkf=4sl tky 3sl 2% cheese coffee w/cream
L=chicken salad
S=artichoke salad
D=meat & cheese in car & then roast beef & artichoke salad when I came in w/dh at 7
All that protein so I am feeling very satisfied.

You've made me curious about the butt & hips tape D. Maybe I should look for a callenetics dvd at the library if it's joint friendly. Not quite sure what it is. I do start my water areobics class this next Mon nite. It's the 8:30pm class as the 7 was already full. But I don't have to be up Tues mornings at this point so I'm ok. I'm still getting up 7-7:30 so that when I take more hours back on I won't be struggling to get back into the routine. YH my dh works in computer design, which in MI is mainly auto related. He does make good money. Not make us rich fantastic but pay all our bills in full on time and give us a nice 2wk vacation each year. Bits of money build up at times but it never fails that ds has a need or 1 of our cars needs work or some such. So we have nothing to complain about. I don't make much in my field but it does pay for groceries & our hair cuts each 3 weeks & lunch out with a friend here & there. We could squeak by w/o my check but it makes it tight & makes dh nervous.

Well ladies it's 8pm & all I've done since I've walked in the door is eat & type LOL so I best get a move on.

Evenin' Gals--

Well, YH, I guess you probably have gotten your hair done by now. Anything new and different? Still blond? How come you don't want anyone to know you've lost weight, Y? You must have lost quite a lot because you don't eat that much and you exercise like crazy. How much more do you want to lose?

Wearing a tent dress would just make me feel freer to eat more! The last time I wore a dress, the drycleaner asked me when the baby was due. Which actually could have been kind of a compliment because of my age (although it was a few years ago), but he was wearing really thick glasses. So I don't wear dresses anymore.

I can't wait for you to slay everyone in your stretch minidress--send pics!

D, I am so sorry to hear you got another snowstorm! But congrats on getting that coat to zip! Now if we can just get it to warm up enough for you to wear those capris! What did you think of the callanetics tape? Did you try any of it?

C, amazing that you actually sat out in your car in the cold rain and ate meat and cheese rather than go to a nice warm coffee house! Where are you getting this infusion of extreme willpower? I need some of that! Congrats on getting your weight down, too! You should change your stats! Glad you're getting your first wonderful whiffs of Spring--it's so nice to be getting weight off before summer hits, eh?

I changed my stats to reflect my present weight and changed my goal weight to something I feel is more realistic for me at this point. I'll be ecstatic just to break 150, and if I ever do make it to 145, I'll see if I think I can realistically lose more. This way, it doesn't seem so impossible.

I had a lovely day--dh and I drove down to Carmel Valley to see some pretty country and have lunch at a nice lodge. It was about 72 so we could eat outside, see the flowers and hear the birds sing. Had a very nice lunch of salad, pate, prosciutto, and salami, and fruit. Then drove through the valley to see the poppies and lupen blooming on the green hills. I've been wanting to do this for some time, so it lifted me out of my doldrums, at least for today!

I did pretty well on my eating today: Take care, all!.. T.

B - egg, 1/2 bratwurst, spinach
L - salad, pate, salami, prosciutto, fruit
D - chicken thigh, cauliflower, asparagus, banana squash
S - almonds, smoked gouda

You had me crackin up at work yesterday with the snow blizzard, I have 4 pr. of boots new w tags if you need me to send you a pr.something I had to buy " in case". I have an extremely hard time with shoes, I am a 8WW and nothing fits good, I live in Birkenstocks, on my last formal outfit I wore ballet shoes, wish I could find some comfy heels. I see my stats aren't here - did not notice till now Ok, in this picture which was Nov. 07 as I was on vacation and remember how depressed I was packing beach clothes -I was 206lbs. I joined this board in Feb. I believe-cannot remember exact weight-last Sat. my scale said 149. I look heavier than 149, I still have a high percentage of body fat for the height and weight which puzzles me but I guess I have to turn the fat into muscle somehow. I am 5'4" - goal would be maybe 120 ??? I show my weight in belly, hips, thighs, and I have to decide when to quit smoking also and decide what weight I should start that at as I know I will gain. I have noticed I am smoking more since dieting and I know thats no good. Its mainly the work crowd that I dont want asking questions about weight, I have been there 22 yrs. and up and down, when i gained weight back there were mean hurtful comments and whispering how I let myself go. I guess thats stuck in my head. I will need to do the stats now. People would ask me all the time in the past when my baby was due, work started a rumour one year that I was pregnant when I gained weight and I never said anything - people were watching me for a baby to drop - then there were rumours that the baby must have died - hence my attitude about showing weight loss at work for now. Now im getting depressed just thinking about it. The witch was the butt of most of these stories. I dont know how people can be so cruel. My hair is the same, hair gal thinks I will look older if I go blonde so still hemming and hawing on that one, just my standing 3 wk. pink-white roots appt. Looks like eveyone is doing good with the food this week Did you get to Curves D , I guess not - there was a blizzard
I am so happy your exercise water class is starting soon - you can give me tips, I just do the laps with the zoomers but it is a workout. T - have you thought about water exercise - I think that would be good for you. Looks like T and C are back on track

AM- apple, plum, grapes, drink potion
Lunch - salad w t. brst, egg, babybel, gr. peppers and tomato.
Dinner - WW frozen meal ) salisbury & asparagus
Snacks - fruiti - quaker cakes - over limit on cakes.
Exercise - some callanetics from memory

I dont want you guys to get overwhelmed with the hips, behind, stomach callanetics, they are hard and there is modifications for them. I am not sure if those specific tapes show the modifications.

how wonderful is this little secret

Well YH aren't you just doing a spectacular job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the past 5 months you have went from 206 to 149 You hid the #'s so well that I had no idea! No wonder your clothes are falling off & people are noticing!!
You need to shout it from the roof tops & wear the right fitting clothes in your life off the job. Why else go to all that work to loose it??!! I can understand not telling those people you work with. You seem to work with a whole office of mean spirited nut jobs....they would drive me to the loony bin right quick
57lbs....that's still boggling my mind!!
I have went up & down too over the years--so many of us women have. When I did the Atkins 4yrs ago I felt so good & the woe was so satisfying I really never thought I would put it back on. Hence the finally getting rid of all my larger clothes. This time around I haven't told folks that I'm trying to loose again as I just feel too embarrassed/stupid to say I'm at it again....& I've lost so little that no one has noticed. But I can understand you not talking about your success at work.

T your lunch & drive sounded so wonderful!!!!! And you ate well & tasty but in a healthy way. So it was a perfect day! No regrets when you got home. Dh & I are going to take Memorial Day weekend to go up into the Georgian Bay area of Canada to visit his cousins. Am really looking forward to that. It's been such a stressful year for us that we could really use the break.

Am going into my moms today. We'll go to lunch I'm sure, but I feel after my struggles the last couple days that I should be able to eat on track. Will eat good protein before I go for my breakfast.

D are you buried girl??? being said for that miracle that will bring you the chance to wear those capris next week LOL!!!

YH, you have lost almost 50 lbs since November??!! You go, girl!! That is amazing. Why haven't you spoken up sooner?? Oh well, I guess that office episode would make me gun-shy about bragging about my weight loss too and I'm sorry you had to go thru such hurtful things said. People can be so cruel sometimes. Hopefully those days are long gone because you are such a SUCCESS now!! I would love to see a current pic of you....hint, hint. As you can see, you're shocking us all here but we are pleasantly surprised!!

C, I have a list of Phase I and Phase II that I keep online (which I can email you here on this board if you are interested) and it says unlimited protein in Phase I so you are doing perfectly fine with that. SB limits the high carb items not the lean proteins. You are showing such great willpower these days. I'm sure you will reap the rewards on the scale so keep it up.

T, I'm glad you changed your stats. I noticed it but did not want to call attention unless you said something. I think you are being realistic with your numbers. I figure 150 is still heavy for me but it would be even more overwhelming to put a lower number in there now. Once I make it to my goal -- notice I did not say IF lol -- then I will reassess and maybe go lower. You sound very determined now and I'm happy for you. Your menus look very healthy for weight loss and maintaining your sugar levels too. What a wonderful drive you and dh went on. Sounds picture-perfect.

Yes, I am buried in. School is cancelled. We have close to 2 feet of that wonderful white stuff out there. Plans to set up After Prom were postponed till tomorrow morning so it is a go-nowhere day. I think it's finally stopped snowing and is supposed to get back into the 50's by tomorrow. C, keep those coming in baby. I need to wear those capris on Thursday!!!

Have a great end of the week day ladies!! You are all doing so awesome, it's really inspiring me!! D

C, you put too many exclamation points in there LOL. Your post is really running over!!

P.S. We all want to see 236 on your stats instead of 238. Woman, changing my stats is the FIRST thing I do when I lose a lb!!!!

Hard to see a good view because you are hiding behind a post in that one and have your leg stuck out front, but looks like you carry more weight below the waist?? You don't look 200 lbs to me tho, you look a lot less. I used to be like that but now the excess weight is all over me and I am very round and bloated-looking. I really would like to see a current pic so I hope you can figure it out. I bet you look amazing.

I got the papaya tabs yesterday too. Forgot to mention that. Wow they are tart tasting. Hope they work. I have not watched that tape yet, probably will today. I will keep into consideration that I should get into the Beginning tape first before I attempt the others. Even if I cannot do everything, hopefully there will be some things I can do so I won't give up too easily. I am very determined to do whatever I can to push the weight loss along and I appreciate all your tips and suggestions, keep them coming!

I am so glad we got to Curves on Mon & Wed this week. Dh had to wait for our neighbor to plow the road with his little skidster before he could go to work this morning. Our road is a dirt one and the town/state does not plow for us. But dh is one of those, "never call in sick or take a day off" kinds of ppl. He only takes vacation days when he is going to lose them or we have something planned.

My scale went down the other day but is up again today. I hate this yo-yo stuff. The cabbage soup should start taking effect soon enough so hopefully the scale will go back down. Today will be tough since ds2 is home and you know how teenage boys eat. Hopefully I will survive!!!

Yesterday's menu:

B-spinach & cheese omelette, coffee
L-cabbage soup, turkey burger, 1/2 protein whey bar
D-cabbage soup, buffalo chicken
S-pork rinds, cabbage soup, string cheese

Well guess ds2 wants the computer. I think we will be fighting over it all day lol. Time for me to do dishes anyway.

Have a great day! D

Yup, all the weight below the waist - most in the belly, your right about the pole, thats probably why I sat there and allowed a pic. The papaya tabs are tart ! Did you make the cabbage soup ? That sounds so good with the snow and all. I went on the cabbage soup diet once. Gotta go and do some work now - don't want to be here.

have to remember that trick

Well YH hiding behind the pole really did the trick cause you sure didn't look 200lbs LOL!!! Think we're all good at hiding when it comes to pic's....a new pic would be nice. Course that means having someone take it & we know that can be a problem when you're hiding your wgt loss ha!! I gained my wgt slowly over about 10yrs, evenly over my body & folks never had a clue how much I weighed. Till I reached 210-15, then I was looking like I needed to loose; & of course by the time I hit 240 I was looking pretty fat. I did the put on 7lbs this year & then 10lbs the next than 8lbs the next etc and by early 40's I'd hit the 200 mark. Held that for quite awhile cause it freaked me out! Then I had my hysterectomy(sp? boy I miss my spell check in here LOL) & climbed up to 230. Lost 30 on Atkins 4yrs ago, back to 200 mark anxious to hit 199 & then quit smoking & put on 40....LOL!!! This is the story of 50% of the middle aged women in American I think Really want to get it off & be done with this portion of my life---nothing should suck up this many years of your life but your kids LOL!!!!

Lunch w/my folks today was a ck dish w/veggies so that was ok. Mom got a free dessert for her birthday which was a huge choc mousse cake with ice cream. They brought 3 plates & forks to the table. My mom gave me 2 spoons of the ice cream that would have been about a quarter of a cup & a very small piece of the cake. It's her 80th birthday & I'm not saying no--she might not be here next year to share her cake w/me. So it truthfully was not much damage just that it was all sugar in those 4 bites. I hope it didn't screw me up but I've been good the rest of the day so what will be will be. I'll try & see if I remember how to change my acct information.
Bkf=6sl bacon
L=ck & veggies & dessert
D=leftover ck & veggies
s=tky slices 2% cheese slices dill pickles
no exercise today

Doc's office called today & wants me to go do a bone density test, echo heart test, & a stress test. This is on top of the mamg & colonspy that I already have scheduled....not sure when I'm going to fit in the hand doc LOL!! They will truly know me inside out when all is said & done.

Ok the baseball game is done & I'm yawning my head off as it's after 11 so I'm off to bed

Now you got me studying that pic I hate and cant get rid of it on the home computer, I see I had one leg bent for a double special effect to hide the mound BF has a digital camera but says the battery NG so it would be forever before he'd take a pic of me and put in the computer, I will have gained everything I lost by that time He sells cruises and they have sales at his work on stuff that people never claim from their lost stuff so he brings some junk home once and awhile. I asked BF if he wanted to go to this exhibition called " Bodies ", human cadavers, body parts, etc. its suppose to be very cool and will only be here another 2 weeks. Have you guys heard of it ? Now I know it would not have travelled to the Ashby area All he ever wants to do is lay in the bed and watch dvd's, I ask him every weekend if he would like to go to blank, he would say yes to a restaurant but im not asking him that. Last week he wanted to go to the Brazilian and I said no, mounds and mounds of food, plus in Miami which I hate, only go when visitors come to show them South Beach, etc. I hope to get to Curves today and maybe the trip to the fruit / veg. market.

I doubt if the bites of ice cream hurt you C, are you going to weigh in weekly now? Enjoy the time with your mom now. It sounds like the dr. is a good one, go for the tests. I am going Thurs. and im going to ask for tests as I hear in Jan. 09 work will only offer some crappy comsumer driven health plan and I won't be able to afford to be sick or get tests. They will probably not let me have the tests I should as thats how the hmo's make there money but ill ask anyway.
C - it looks like you hide your weight well, or you have alot of muscle, you look like a 180 to me in the pic, but then again you guys are saying I don't look the weight in the pic, I don't think any of us look at our pics and think oh I think I look like I weigh less or I carry my weight well. I see a beached whale in my pic, but then again my ex would call me that if I gained 2 pounds. Your pattern of weight gain is probably more like 75% of women. geez, 40 pounds with the cigs, D gained alot too when she quit but the other issues too, I got a tough battle when I pick my quit day.

I know you'll be busy D with the Prom stuff this weekend, that should be fun and so nice to watch the kids at the prom. I hope the snow melts by next week so you can wear your new outfits and sandals !

What are you up to T ? Any weekend plans C and T ?

Fri.
am- orange and grapefruit
lunch- kashi cereal ( puffed wheat ) w blackberries and ff milk
grape tomatoes
dinner - pork chop with cauliflower/carrot/brocolli mix ( frozen)
snacks- fruiti - lf ice cream sandwich - quaker cakes

I have overindulged in the mini cakes this week - had problems counting allotted amt. of of bag and just eating those - I like them too much. Perhaps I won't buy this week - low on fruiti's - had to get off ebay - 70.00 worth of freakin fruiti's - cheaper than WW tho - don't sell in stores.

Ok, just got off scale and my weight loss for the week is 2 pounds. I was thinking that C and T need to buy some of the psyllium husk powder - its cheap and you have to get it down but I swear by this stuff for flushing fat- I know you have the pills D so not sure if the same effect. Even if you are regular I think you should try it - it won't hurt you and looking back at all the junk im doing I would say imo this has been a big contributer.

Good Morning Ladies

Taking a little coffee break here while family eats sausage gravy & biscuits. Can't even sit in the kitchen when they have mounds of food out like that.

Congrats on the 2 lb loss, YH. You definitely worked off that pizza.

Time of month started yesterday and I'm retaining water. Down 1 lb for now but hopefully will be more in a few days.

C, you can't deprive yourself of something as special as indulging in a pc of b'day cake with your 80 yr old mom. Glad you could share in her special day and I'm sure it won't affect your week since you've done so great on the other days.

Ds2 is headed to take ACT's this morning, an hour away. I need to go set up for After Prom this morning. Will rest this afternoon and then back to town at 5 pm to meet at one of the girl's houses to take pictures with dates. Parents are invited so I will go too. Then at 7 pm I will go to Prom to watch Grand March and crowning of King & Queen, hopefully drag dh with me. Back home for a bit and then I am off to After Prom at midnight. Lots of running back and forth today. I will be glad when it's over and done with. I have boxes and bags of prizes to take with me, plus a Karoake machine, and then maybe I will be able to maneuver around my livingroom enough to clean. Very doubtful though -- this place is a mess and I'd like to just pick the whole house up and shake it outside.

Ds1 came home from college last night for the wkd bringing 3 wks of laundry with him. Gotta love dirty clothes -- otherwise who knows when I'd see him.

Body Parts has not made it to Ashby quite yet. My dh is a stay at home'er too. He will go if I make the plans or force the issue, but he likes to go to bed early so we don't ever go out at night anywhere. He will go during the day...shopping and out to eat or to a kid's game or meet. He'll go at night if it's anything to do with the kids -- he is good about that. But...no parties or get-togethers, no movies, no dinner theatres, even if we are in a bigger city. Unless it is work-related like a Christmas party or company outing -- he likes those kinds of things. But I don't think he's ever come home and said, "Hey, how would you like to go to...." I wanna borrow T's dh. They go to such interesting and romantic places. Hey T, do you ever rent him out??

I got the other 2 Callanetics tapes in the mail yesterday. Haven't had a chance to watch them with everyone around. Will wait till the wkd is over so dh and ds's do not make fun of me and my pathetic moves. I did watch the hips/behind one and there were a couple of things I could do. Can't kneel on my bad knee, so that cut out a good portion. I just fast-forwarded thru the stuff that was too hard for me. C, I think you could definitely do these things. No fast, jerky moves or jumping around. Everything about "holding" in place in certain positions, really no impact at all. You can feel the burn so it must work. If library doesn't have them, try ebay. So cheap if you get the vhs tapes. Including shipping, the Beginners Tape came to a total of under $5, can't beat that.

I feel bad for all the young girls in sandals and thin Prom dresses tonight in this snow. Brrrr!!! I hope it warms up later and melts some. I am about ready to pack my bags and move South. YH, if you hear me knocking, please let me in!!

Have an awesome wkd everyone!! D

I see your idea of sleeping in on Sat is 6a.m. YH...LOL!! Course I stayed up til midnight watching the Tigers game & then putzed around til 1:00, so that explains why I slept til 9. Oh that felt so good. Am eating a heavy protein bkft to get thru a day of going around w/dh. He has such a sweet tooth he always wants to stop for ice cream or some such thing....biscuits & gravy...OMG that's a favorite of mine....I'd have to leave the state not the kitchen And a nite facing pizza....well I see you need the willpower I had this Wed D---close your eyes & feel it zipping thru the screen to you

Such a shame to have snow on your prom nite!!! All that agonizing over which dress & shoes--then what hair style to wow eveyone with--such hard work it is for a gal!!

That Body Show was at the science center in Detroit for over a year cause it was such a huge success. Knew several that went & said it was so interesting! I didn't care to go. So I'd say grab a friend & go YH.

My dh has always liked to "wander". It was the one & only good thing for a number of years in our marriage. Was odd cause we'd get along on our little trip but we when got home he'd get all unhappy & crabby again. Our ds always enjoyed it too. We'd pack games & books for him and a lunch and off we'd go. He hates crowds & parties so he is not a "social" kind of a guy but he likes to do things with ds & me, and that's what matters. It bothered me more in years past when I was quite socially active & he was such a poop about everything. Now I do anything else w/girlfriends & don't even bother with him and he's fine with that. We got a couple books on natural
& free things all across MI a couple years ago and we have discovered some real fun stuff thru that. Course at todays
gas prices it's not such a cheap day....but as dh says we don't golf or bowl or go to the bar every Fri to watch the game, this is pretty much where our entertainment money goes.

Well it turned out to be easy to change my #'s...LOL! Always hate trying to do stuff like that on the 'puter & then feel like a nut when it turns out to be so easy.....
the good thing about it was that somewhere along the line in my head I thought I was at 240 when I started this time. And was still playing around with the same 4-5lbs all these months--wondering when I was gonna get a grip & get some action. When I actually looked at it during the edit I went well crap that's right--I was so scared of being 250lbs that I got serious again finally. That was quite the boost late last nite! This morning I was 235. So the sugar did not hang around for a couple days like the salt of YH's pizza did. So what have we learned here?? Let our cheats be sweet not salty

Ok dh is waiting for me to get off the 'puter & get dressed to head out to Harsens Island for our day of exploring. We usually head away from the city to the land of trees & birds & sometimes a deer or 2!

Bkf=9 sl ls ns bacon & 3 eggs (told you I loaded up on protein)
Have no idea what will happen the rest of the day...am looking in my gut for my will power earlier this week....

Just a quick post for now as I have an " inch loss report " and will probably lose this pc. of paper. I went to Curves today and when I swiped my card it said time to get measured, now ill never measure myself but Curves did when I joined.

Bust -1.75
Waist -4.75
Abs -2.5
Thighs x 2 / -1.5
Calves x 2 / 0
Arms + 1 ( good, its muscle, working on flab )

Total - 12 inches

D - you may be at measuring time now but probably need to ask at your Curves.

Congrats, C, on another lb. lost! That's a nice result from the birthday party--sweets are good for us! And so nice you got to sleep in, too! This rest will help your healing. Are you off the steroids yet? Hope your hands are feeling better.

It's great you got your dh to go for an outing, and sounds like it will be a beautiful day for you. Good idea to load up on the protein in the am, too. I notice when we travel I always get hungrier faster, so I imagine the extra protein will help stabilize your hunger so you won't cheat, and you've had such amazing willpower lately anyway. Look forward to hearing about your day!

D, I don't think you'd want to rent my dh, but what a great idea to try to make a few extra bucks--don't think I could get him to go for it, tho. All he really wants to do is stay home and watch TV. I have to plan a long time in advance to get him to go on a trip. He will go to music, tho, so that's a boon. I will admit that he is still rather romantic, at least verbally. Yesterday was the anniversary of our meeting at a chamber music concert 33 years ago in Berkeley. He reminisced about it all day; he is very sweet that way!

I'm loving hearing about the prom, D! This sounds like so much fun, guess I'm living a little vicariously here. Did you go to your prom? And have a good time? I had to go by myself (no one asked me--I did not have a bf all thru high school! ), and had a miserable time. Anyway, hope you have a really fun time, D, and don't eat more than 2 pieces of pizza! Have some of that cabbage soup before you go! Are you doing a cabbage soup diet now, or was that just for one day?

YH, I bet you have a prom story to tell, if not, please make one up! I swear, the stories about your weight gains and losses at work are a gas! I say, use this to your advantage--just tell 'em the baby died after you whip off your tent dress to reveal your new svelt body; then you can say you're pregnant again if you gain the weight back! A perfect plan. But seriously, congratulations on all the weight you've lost in such a short period of time, and most recently, on another 2 lbs. off! You really are an awesome lady!

I had a busy day yesterday. Three of my girlfriends and I get together for an extra dreamgroup (sans teacher) at one of their homes, and we bring our lunches. I always bring a chicken salad. Then we talk for about an hour, and then work dreams. That took all afternoon. Then dh and I had a little dinner out at an informal place, and went to a guitar concert (the Romeros) on campus. So I am tired today. But had a good time. It has been a week of more than the usual amount of activity for me. And I'm going to try to go to the gym today. Weight was up a little, I think from the salt in the soup, because I don't feel like I overate.

B - egg, spinach, chicken sausage
L - Chicken salad w/little blue cheese, few slices apple
D - vegetable gumbo soup, quiche, few strawberry and mango slices
S - almonds, smoked gouda

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! T.

Ok, put some groceries away and waiting for BF to leave, he's driving me nuts. Congrats on the pound loss D - your time of the month - that will do it. I hope you can get thru the prom with all the food temptations, that will be rough. Its going to be fun ! At least your dh likes to wander C so thats something - how far are you from the city ? I'd want to get out of the city too. I met 2 gals at Curves today who just got back from African Safari, Galapagos Islands, and Machu Pichu.....so I was enthralled in the conversation...as soon as I win the lotto im going too, must be nice - they were about 60 and their husbands left them a nice retirement. All BF wants to do is go out to eat or he will get me in the car to do something and I get stuck going with him to his work - so I know better now - just what I want to do is sit in someone's else's cubicle on the weekend. Congrats on your loss C, if I am reading your post correctly thats 5 lbs.

T - we are going to borrow your dh as he likes to go places - romantic on top of that

I see we were posting at the same time T. That guitar concert sounds nice. So we got another tv watcher and stay home guy, geez !! BF finally left - he is still talking about credit card applications and I had this all last weekend Sorry, I don't have a prom story - I went out with a mexican guy in high school who was very anti establishment - he thought he was that famous guy - cant remember his name - the one who stood up for all the farm workers. I was not popular - a good student - one BF and one close GF. I was a "wierdo" I think the dream stuff must really be interesting - you should be able to make some money off that. Well, I am doing everything I can think of not to vacuum so better go now as no one is here !

Just popping on to say hi. Finished decorating and setting things up. Stopped at the bank to get some cash for class prizes, then to the store for magic markers and posterboard. Now I need to work on a poster. I thought it would be nice if we listed all the area businesses and people who donated to After Prom so the kids and the few parents working tonight can see who helped out.

I made one lady very mad at me today. She is bringing her 8 yr old grandaughter tonight!!! I couldn't believe it and reminded her that this is for 9th-12th grades only. She said too bad, she has no one to watch her. I asked about her husband and she said he would be sleeping. I laughed and said, well don't you think an 8 yr old should be sleeping from midnight to 4 am anyway??!! She got really mad at me and yelled but I just shook my head and walked away. Totally inappropriate but what can I do...some people have no clue.

YH, 12 inches is awesome!! You are amazing!! I ordered one of those belts but I got a cheaper version than yours so it probably won't work as well. The one you sent me info on has gone up in price, so I found a cheapie to try out first before I invest $$ in the more expensive one. Anything else you can hook me on??

Congrats on another lb, C. You are really going to town with your weight loss too!

My dh loves to camp and fish. The last time we took the kids camping was a couple of yrs ago and they hated it. Too old now and missed their electronics and Big Mac's too much. We have a 21 foot boat that ds1 took camping with his friends last year. I cannot do the boating or camping anymore. Too many aches and pains. Give me a Marriott anyday!!

Well I need to get some things done and maybe if I have time, a little nap too. Hope everyone is having a great wkd. D

P.S. The sun is shining....and it's snowing and hailing. Poor Prom girls!!

Prom

Since you're living vicariously thru me tonight, T.....

Dh went & picked up corsage ds2 will be giving to his date tonight. Her dress is black, blue and turquoise. Flowers are white roses with edges dipped in turquoise. Black, blue & turquoise ribbons. New thing -- fiber optics behind the flowers with a little hidden switch so the thing lights up. Not as tacky as it sounds, it's actually rather pretty and the florist told me that she did a lot of the corsages like that.

Ds2 is wearing a black shirt & pants with a blue and black tie. Very sharp looking. No tux since he is only a sophomore (his date is a junior). The freshman and sophomores don't wear tuxes at our Prom, just the older boys. The school invites 9th to 12th graders because our school is so small that Prom would only have a handful of kids if they limited it to seniors.

They have a junior-senior banquet before the Prom, which they are serving surf & turf (steak & shrimp) and ds2 is thrilled that his date is older so he can go to that too. After they eat, they announce the class wills. We will go to that because it is pretty funny, the things some of these kids leave each other or teachers. Then they will have the Grand March where all the girls in their fancy dresses are escorted by the boys into the dance. Pictures are taken. Then they crown the king and queen and then the parents leave and the kids start their Prom.

Prom ends at midnight and we give the kids 30 min to change into casual clothes and meet us at a town building we've rented for the After Prom Party. Our theme is Mardi Gras so they will get beads as they come in the door and thru-out the night I will call out things like...First person to bring me a Nebraska State quarter gets some beads. At the end of the night, the person with the most beads gets a prize. We will also have a bubble gum blowing contest and a limbo contest. We have a penny carnival where the kids play all sorts of games and win play money and at the end of the evening, we have an "auction" where they bid on prizes like color tv's, dvd players, video games, etc. Then we draw names for class prizes, which are bigger tv's, IPods, dvd players, etc or a choice of $50 cash. Three names drawn for each grade 9 thru 12. Plus during the night, their names are drawn randomly and they can pick from the draw prize table which is smaller gifts like cologne, stuffed animals, baseball caps, t-shirts, etc. At the end of the night, everyone gets a t-shirt with their school name and year printed on it as a remembrance. Music is playing constantly so it's a very lively evening. Lots of good food donated by area businesses and Pepsi donates soft drinks and water. It's always a lot of fun!!

Dh said I should be careful what I eat tonight. The mean lady that yelled at me is working in the kitchen. She'll probably spit on my food. One way to not over-eat.

Thanks for the lovely post D on the prom, I am with T on this one because I never got to go ! It gave me goosebumps just reading about it. Wow, what a nut case that lady is - hopefully there's a place to put the kid and she will be asleep during the party. Self centered creature. You will have so much fun - im sure you will be very tired on Sunday. The surf and turf ....mmmm I love that. It sounds so nice living in the small town - here for prom they rent out blocks of rooms on the beach and its a big drunk fest. 2 kids died last yr. falling off balcony rooms. Its so nice to hear these things - good clean fun.

Me again

Dh & I got back from the pre-Prom festivities around 9:30 pm. I have an hour or so to kill before I go back in for After Prom Party. Dh was nice to massage my feet -- very swollen from being on them all day long but he's getting tired and will be asleep soon so I thought I'd get online to keep me awake.

I went to my Prom with my then-future husband many yrs ago. It was a nice night in the ballroom of a huge hotel. I graduated with 760 kids so it was a lot different than Proms out here.

Cinderella story.... Senior class this yr is very small. One senior, a shy, poverty-stricken girl works at the local gas station/deli mart. She's very mousy-looking, dresses in boys clothes. She couldn't afford to go to Prom. All her money goes to help her family. So her adult co-workers chipped in and bought her a beautiful gown, royal blue with silver sparkles, and paid to have her nails done. They did the girl's hair and makeup. My friend that I go to Curves with bought the girl her corsage and her date's boutenierre (he works for my friend during the summer). The makeover worked wonders, you didn't even know it was the same person - she was so breathtaking and glamorous. Well guess what? She was voted Prom Queen tonight. Crowned her with a rhinestone tiara and handed her a dozen long stemmed red roses. Her smile brought tears to my eyes, it was so heartwarming and just like a fairy tale come true.

Oh, D, that story brought a tear to my eye! You really have a wonderful bunch of kids in your school, and the adults who helped that girl and her date.

Such a lovely description of Prom night, D, thank you so much! Yh and I loved hearing it--sounds so glamourous and romantic! What wonderful memories you and your ds will have! Bet you will be pretty beat in the am, but in a good way. Have a fabulous rest of your evening! T.

Sad Ending

Okay here it is 4:45 am and I just got home. Had to tell you how Cinderella's night ended. She came to the After Prom Party, so happy and thrilled to be "part of the gang." Then her father called and started yelling at her to get home. She came to me and asked me to talk to him. I got on the phone and I tried to get him to let her stay, telling him that we had chaperones and the kids were just playing games, but he was drunk and beligerent and told me that if I didn't send her home, he was sending the law after her. He said he didn't like how she acted at Prom, all high and mighty, and that she didn't deserve to be at a party. He was very threatening and nasty. It was like out of the movies. The poor girl was in tears, not wanting to go home. Her father called the sheriff, who came looking for her. I told the girl she better go, otherwise I was afraid she would get in worse trouble. Her father called 3 times really mad so she cried and hugged everyone goodbye. I started crying too. I cannot imagine a parent being that mean and vicious to their own child, especially this meek and mild young girl. The way he spoke to me made me cringe. I can only imagine how he treated his family. I wanted to take her home with me, the poor thing. So everything turned back into a pumpkin by the end of Prom for poor Cinderella. It just about broke my heart.

I did not have any pizza or subs. I had some boneless chicken tenders and even though they did have a little breading on them, it was better than anything else they served.

Well I am off to bed...quietly....because this is just about the time dh gets up every morning!! D

Congrats on the no pizza or subs, Im sure the chicken was fine.

What a sad ending to Cinderella story - so I take it the father was at the prom to observe what he called high & mighty - what a shame - the poor gal.
