PS : I loved your comment about hair not being noticed, I went from brown to real blonde too AND real short from shoulder length and BF did not notice !!!! Either that or they hated it and did not want to say anything.

I hope your dental appt went smoothly, YH. Do you have to go back again or is this it for now?

No Curves today (my feet were too swollen) or tomorrow (my friend owns a ranch and she has to help her dh move cattle) so we will wait till Monday to start up again. I miss it but I cannot go when I am feeling this badly otherwise I will just make things worse. Yes YH, we are quite the group -- falling apart, aren't we??

I keep forgetting to look up those papaya pills, although now that I added in the psyllium pills, I am up to almost 20 pills per day with all the meds I am on. I don't know that I could add more!

T, did they give you a glucometer to check your readings everyday? I will be curious to know what they are, if you care to share that info. Just for my own curiousity to see where I hold up compared to others.

Well C, my dh went to a meeting in another town and he found some of those Babybel Lite cheeses you were talking about and he bought them for me. They are lower in calories and fats than the original ones I have, so thank you for mentioning them. I LOVE them. And since they are individually wrapped, I can control the portions better, which is good.

I baked up some boneless chicken tenderloin which I plan to shred. We are making tacos and dh will use hamburg but I think the chicken is better for me and will eat it on low-carb shells or in a salad. I am starving so I hope dh doesn't work late.

Hope everyone is eating well today! D

I found a new egg substitute. The Best of the Egg. Only 30 calories for one "egg," 0 fat, less than 1 carb per serving. Much better than a real egg.

Today's menu:

B-2 scrambled egg substitute, spinach, coffee
S-2 Babybel Originals, bran cracker w/soy p'nut butter
L-cabbage with mozzarella
S-1 Babybel Lite
D-boneless, skinless chicken tenderloin, lettuce, salsa, sour cream, 2 low-carb taco shells (4 carbs ea)
S-5 olives

Hi, all,

I came back to this website and found you all under threads. I think I last visited here in Nov 07, but would like to become active again with a support group.

I have lost a total of 18 lbs in the last year, have 21ish to go to reach my first goal of 130. I am a 50 something that losing anything is so hard.
I started out with atkins, but have moved to alittle more carb level on Protein Power.

I tend to do better with a bit of support.

I have started resitance work with very light weights, do Callenetics every other day, Body Flex also and walk in the pm when I get home before dark.

Hope I can re-join y'all again.

Welcome Slendercate! And congratulations on losing 18 lbs. the last year. Join right in. Also, congrats on all the exercise you do! As you probably noted, YH is doing callanetics, too. We are all doing a little bit higher carbs here, since two of us are diabetic, one is on ww, and one is on SB. We try to post our menus most days to help us stay on track.

D, what a trial you are going thru with the cheese crackers! I guess those are about the size of the end of your little finger, huh! Turkeyburgers sound so good; I'm going to try one this week.

Laughed out loud about your bubblybath story, but what a nightmare! I'm sure glad you didn't hurt yourself, D! BTW, did you know bubblebath can cause bladder infections? I got one once from taking them. Good thing the doc inquired, or I'd have never known!

Your sorority is sure active--you all drink Red Bull instead of wine at your luncheons? Just kidding--you gals do a lot of really nice things; it must be a lot of fun, too. Sorry to hear about your feet swelling, D--I hope you get enough rest this week so you'll be able to stay up for prom night!

I have been measuring my glucose levels just once a day, after breakfast this week, and they've been very low. You shouldn't try to compare yourself to me, D. I don't even have to take the pills yet. They're just trying to get me under control before it gets any worse. The lowest reading I've had is 90, after eating some cereal, which the nutritionist said would have been a lot higher if I'd measured 1 hour after eating, and the highest was 146. I start checking after lunch tomorrow, but since I'm trying to follow the guidelines, I don't expect them to be out of range. But I have been getting different information from different sources re what the upper limit should be. The doc said 180, my booklet says 140, and the nutritionist said 140 - 150. The nutritionist said my doc is liberal, and maybe doesn't want the goal level to be too low at first, to give me some time to adjust. But I don't think that normally I have very high levels; I really think it just went up so much from drinking that ultra sweet glucose!

YH, you are really motivated to exercise, driving all that way to callanetics, and--is every class going to be 2 1/2 hours? What on earth could you be doing for that long? Weren't you terribly sore after all that? If bf doesn't notice hair going from brown to blond and long to short, why are you dying your eyelashes? I guess it's not for him! I wish I could grow enough eyelashes to see, let alone to tint! You sure are doing great on your eating--don't you get hungry? It looks like such a small amount of food to me! But I guess that's my problem--hungry all the time!

C, hope you are getting along OK with your meds and your splints. How long do you have to take the steroids? Is it helping yet? Hope you are starting to feel better.

Dh is taking my laptop in tomorrow to see why the battery is not charging, so I may not be checking in as much, because I have to use his computer and I don't like it, plus he's on it a lot. I hope they don't keep mine for too long! I'll get back to you all as soon as I can. Take care, T.

That was the last dental appt. hopefully for awhile. My brother told me I should buy a waterpic since I hate flossing and I asked the dentist if I should buy one to help ward off more problems and he thought yes. They have the compact cordless ones now so I may get one. He said to add some of the presciption rinse to it, just what i need - another gadget. Do any of you guys use one - comments ?

slendercare - we are all in the age range - I think im the old fart here. I will be 56 next month and it would be great to discuss callanetics with an older galIts so much harder when you get older to lose, I agree. What did you eat yesterday ?

Eggs - I switched to the egglands best brand as its said 25% lower fat on the carton, I looked at the egg substitutes too but have not tried yet - they are pricey and eggs sure have gone up in price. Papaya enzyme tablets - they are chewable D if thats any consolation- I know what you mean about swallowing all those pills. I hope you have good insurance on your script costs. I take liquid vitamins now in my drink potion as I dont want to swallow more pills-especially vitamins. My office roomie takes a potion now too and she has neurological problems and says she is feeling better - I guess her hearing me shake my concoction and spill the green slime all over the place rubbed off I keep forgetting I bought the babybel lite and have not tried yet. Sorry you cant get to Curves today - I only went once this week.

What are you up to C - hope all is ok and today is Friday.

I am besides myself without the computer T - my last vacation I did not take it with me thinking this will be good - get away from it - it was not good - I had big anxiety not having it and ended up driving forever to find an internet cafe in Mexico as I stayed in non tourist area, got stopped by the police because I can't read the signs, gave the guy a 20 to get rid of him but found an internet place The funny thing about the callanetics class was that I planned on being in the ER the next day but my back did not hurt for once-I went at my own pace with modifications and stopped before the others finished, thats the main reason I like these exercises-its deep muscle work and positioned not to screw you up - fast results. I honestly can't say I have the true hunger thing -faint-stomach rumbling- all I want is the snacksso I am ok not eating alot just to have the snacks and this is something I need to work on. I dont want a healthy snack at nite I use to eat a whole bag of those cape cod chips-real soda-chocolate-etc. for snacks - thats why im here. now

Thurs.
am - pineapple, plum, grapes, and nectarine salad ( I started cutting up my fruit in tiny pcs. and putting in a pretty dish).

lunch - salad with t.breast and egg, still using the good seasons vin. and oil mix whenever I have the salad.

dinner - kielbasa (bad) and sauerkraut

snacks- fruiti and goldfish

Today I have an appt. for a facial after work which I don't know why I made as I really can't afford it, figure I deserve it, wanted to treat myself - have not decided if I should cancel yet.

Off to my 400 am visit to Walgreens with my coupons- on my way to work- I got the restocking thing down pat now so coupon stuff is usually there. Now if I would only buy the coupon stuff

Hi Slendercate. Glad you could join us.

Actually, T, I am doing South Beach along with Corrisann so we're both low-carb. I cannot eat as high carbs as your dr or nutritionist said to. My dr says to keep the levels in the 70-100 range. I think your dr and also your nutritionist are both being lenient right now because they are trying to see how your body handles it and hopefully you will not have to get stricter. But if you do the research, I believe the numbers are 70-100 before eating and 120-140 after eating. Or that's what I've read and what my current dr says anyway and he has Diabetes himself. My first Diabetes dr was way too lenient and I think that's what got me into trouble to begin with, because I didn't keep my levels as low as I should have due to the fact that she allowed me way too many carbs per day. If I stay on track with my meals, which I've been doing, my levels typically run 65-90 before eating and 110-115 after eating. Everyone is different though. That sweet drink is made specifically to test your levels so you shouldn't go by its sweetness, thinking you'll never eat anything that sweet and that your levels will never be that high again. Lots of things that raise your sugars are not that sweet-tasting. If you are getting readings as high as 146 while eating on the plan the nutrionist suggested, then I'd guess you have Diabetes. But you're still in the manageable range so I do hope you can control it with diet and not meds, that would be great for you!

YH, my dentist recommended an electric or battery-operated toothbrush and so I bought a battery-operated one since we don't have much counterspace around our bathroom sink for an electric toothbrush base. I've never tried the water pic yet, thinking it was something big and bulky and I didn't want to have to drag it out everytime I brushed my teeth. But if you're telling me they make them cordless now, that will be my next purchase. I need to floss everyday because of my peridontal disease and I'm thinking a water pic would do a much better job. Thanks for the info!

So we have a fugitive on our hands....bribing police to make a quick getaway in a foreign country to find a computer. Way too funny!! But I am the same way. My computer is my lifeline. I use it for everything.....to keep in contact with my ds1 at college, my family back East, my dh at work. Much better than always interrupting them with a phone call when I need to tell them something. I'm always researching and looking things up, weather forecasts, current events, one of YH's weight loss gadgets. And of course, posting here. I cannot imagine going one day without my computer. I'd probably have a nervous breakdown. Of course, I'm not saying this is a good thing.

I like your idea about cutting up the fruit and putting it in a pretty dish. Presentation really helps, doesn't it?

I hope you go for the facial, YH. You need to treat yourself once in awhile! I haven't had one in years but I remember how good it felt and how clean and vibrant my skin felt afterwards. Maybe that will be my next treat after my pedicure. I told my friend we should treat ourselves for losing weight, maybe once a month if we've had good weight losses. Her immediate response was, "Oh yes, we can go out for hot fudge sundaes!" I told her we have to get out of that frame of mind...where we reward ourselves with food. I find myself doing that with my own kids and I need to break that nasty habit.

Dh wants to grill hamburgers or steak for supper as it's supposed to (finally) be warm weather again. I love food cooked on the grill, it just tastes so much better. But I don't want anything that heavy so I suggested waiting on the steak till after I weigh-in tomorrow and maybe making himself a hamburger and grilling me a couple of turkey burgers tonight. They are very lean and no carbs so I think that is a better choice for me.

I find myself snacking too much lately. I did much better when I kept it to simple meals during the week without all this crap thrown in. I have to get back on track with that because I don't feel like I've lost anything this week. Dh told me this morning that he thought my belly looked smaller and even pointed out that it was flatter in the mid-section.

FINALLY SOMEONE NOTICED IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!!

Corrisann....where ya been hiding??? We miss you!! Hope everything is going okay for you.

Have a great day, ladies! D

YH, how was the facial? What did they do? I am getting my pedicure on April 15th. Maybe I will schedule a facial for the following week. One treat at a time.

C, I hope your hands are feeling okay and it's not affecting your typing!!

I hate talking to myself.....

The facial was a winner ! This was a new place I have never been to and had a 20% off 1st time client deal. I had alot of extractions ( much needed) my t zone gets oily, blackheads, large pores, and the rest of my face is dehydrated. When i use to work OT I went faithfully every 6 weeks for a facial but can't afford now. My face, head, neck, shoulders, arms got a wonderful massage. I then had my brows and upper lip waxed ( much needed ) The place was on the high end price wise but was very quality and the esthetician very good. Plushy robes, locker, a meditation room with candles and oils and you could sit in there and have teas - all organic place. They have great packages too -mmmm- I would love to get a massage. Anyway it was great. A real treat. Wish I could go every week for something ! Treat yourself to a facial gals !

Fri. am- fruit salad mix of kiwi, plum, mango & pineapple
lunch - salad w t. brst, 1 babybel light cheese. ( I like the cheese! )
dinner- scrambled eggs, 2 sl. whole wheat toast
snacks - fruiti, goldfish, few pretzels, glass of ff milk

Hope you got your computer back T ! Where are you C ?

I am ecstatic, just got off scale and 4 pounds flushed this week ! I am somewhat baffled as all I did for exercise was one curves trip last Sat. and the Callanetics class tues. I do the melt belt almost every day and the elevator at work still broke so I have to do 6 stories per day total which i do very slow because of my knee off and on pain. I was faithful gobbling the papaya pills with dinner and snacks. Anyway who knows but I anticipated a gain or zero so very surprised. I have a giant headache now but I am bound and determined to get to Curves this am. I bought a 99 cents 32 oz. sipper mug and managed to get all 32oz of water down at work yesterday - I dislike
water so 32 oz is a big deal for me.

Woo Hoo!!! Wow YH that is an awesome weight loss!! Congrats!! You worked hard and it paid off!

Your facial sounds wonderful. What a treat! Definitely worth the $$ to reward yourself this week, wasn't it?? Good deal with the water too. I know how much you hate it!

I am waiting till later to get on the scale but I think I will be lucky to break even. No exercise at all. Retaining lots of fluid. Snacking too much. Not a good week for me. But it will just make me more determined to lose next week, won't it??

Yesterday's menu:

B-omelette w/egg substitute, tomato, salsa, cheese, coffee
L-salad w/lettuce, salsa, cheese & sour cream, no dressing
S-2 meringues, 6 olives
D-2 turkey burgers w/lettuce & mustard on low-carb pita
S-8 shrimp, 7 pork rinds, 2 bran crackers w/low-carb cheese spread

I am glad to see a post from you today, YH. I hope everything is ok with C. It's not like her to skip this many days in a row. With T's computer out of commission, it may be just you and me, till they come back.

I really need to get back to Curves myself. Haven't been there since a week ago Wednesday. I think that really hurt me this week. We are planning to go on Monday, weather permitting. It looks like a nice wkd ahead so hopefully Monday will be more of the same good weather.

Well time for coffee. I will be back later with a weigh-in! D

I'm back

It's been a crazy few days but I'm back finally! Ds had a bit of a medical emergency & called me last Wed at work. So between clients I had to do a emergency call off for Thurs & Fri and when I got home throw some clothes in a bag & hit the road. But everything went well & he's doing fine & I got back home about an hour ago. First thing I did was turn my laptop on....LOL...yes we are all addicted.
My eating was all over the place (you know what there is in a college students cupboards) & he had to eat soft stuff so I found a Kmart & got soup & yogurt. Good to be home! And the day is beautiful so it was a nice drive, even being on the freeway.
So much good stuff to read. Glad that things have been going well for all of you. We are always happy to have new voices join in our yakking Slendercate.
Congrats on the 4lbs YH
You're just working your way to summer in a smaller size shorts!! The way you have tackled the exercise side of wgt loss is amazing!! Being on lesser hours I plan on getting my feet moving!! Course this nice weather is so encouraging to get outside & shake it around!!
The steroids helped my hands quite a bit. Have 2 more days to take them. My actual physical is Mon. Been wearing the braces at nite. And the cheap little store bought elastic hand cuffs during the day. But as soon as I get active with the hands it's a problem. So I guess I have avoided the problem as many years as I could & will need to go to the hand doc soon.
D how was your loss this week? Seems like you over did physically way more than you did food wise--so I'm sure your weigh in went fine.
T little bites of yummy desserts was always your down fall so the sugar problems may help you get that under control & help you with your losing. You never really ate bad otherwise, at least it didn't seem like it to me. I agree that you need to try it their way first & see what kind of success you have.
Well gal's I guess I've had my 'puter fix & can go put my stuff away. It's dumped on the floor by my laptop....LOL
I'll be back later on to see how everyones Sat's have went. I came home to a kitchen full of safe eats so I have no excuse to not be doing fine again.

Hello, all,

YH, wow, congrats on the 4lbs! Awsome.

Denise, I love my battery operated rechargable Sonicare toothbrush. My dentist recommended it and it has made a big difference in how I build up tartar. It only takes up alittle counter space.

Today was weigh in day, no change in the scale, but, when measured
since last month:
1/4" off my waist, 1/4" off my abdomen, which for the first time in along time my abdomen is now 1/4" smaller than my hips. My apple shape is changing slowly but surely!

I'm in the same age group, YH, & it seems to take longer to "shed" the fat now than a few years ago. Menopause has definetly slowed my weight loss down.
Still, Callenetics works for me, it is truly "magic you can see" in the mirror.
I have only done 3 hours this week, I can see a change in how my clothes fit.

Well, will check in tomarrow. Off to exercise.

C, glad to see you're back. I hope ds is okay. What a good mother you are to drop everything to be with him.

I am frustrated because it looks like I stayed the same this week. I know I didn't get any exercise in but I thought I'd lose at least a lb with all the walking and dieting, but I am really retaining water and it's showing on the scale.

So YH & SC...I am jumping on the bandwagon here. I just ordered some Callenetics tapes. I ordered them used from Amazon because I'm not sure this is something I can do with my MS, so I didn't want to waste a lot of $$, just in case. I can figure out how to use a vcr, the dvd player still has me puzzled, so I stuck with vhs tapes. I got Beginning Callenetics, plus 2 others, one for the stomach and one for the hips/backside. We'll see if it's something I can do. I am really looking for an edge and maybe this is it. I welcome any tips from you two!

Oh and YH, I also ordered some papaya pills. You got me on a roll here! I was telling dh about them and he said they surely must work because papaya is used a lot as a meat tenderizer, breaks everything down.

C, are you not weighing in? Surely a couple of days away didn't ruin your whole week, did it? You seemed to be doing so well with your eating at the beginning of the week.

SC, glad you are joining us. Wow, that is great you lost all those inches! That's just as good as lbs in my book. I bought one of those Crest spinbrushes but it's not rechargeable. I didn't see one with a really small base. I'll check for a Sonicare the next time I am at the stores. (I live in a really remote area, 1-2 hours from major stores, so unfortunately I don't get to go shopping as much as I'd love to).

Today's menu:

B-10 shrimp, spinach, coffee
S-2 strawberries, 2 bran crackers
L-2 turkey burgers, coleslaw w/Splenda
S-cottage cheese, babybel lite cheese
D-steak, coleslaw, lettuce w/low carb dressing, 2 strawberries
S-low-carb pudding

Hope everyone has a good night! D

Good to hear from you C and glad s is ok. Glad the hands are better, do you have to stay on the steroids or you don't know till dr. visit I would imagine. A physical - I have to go one of these days - hope thats a decent report. How's the weight ?

SC- glad you popped in and on the inch loss. Which Callan tape are you doing ? Are you following the protein power plan ? I have the whole kit I ordered some years ago but never got read thru the thing but I know where it is Post your menu's if you have time.

D - I am so happy you ordered the Callanetics tapes, they should have been real cheap. Im replacing mine with dvd's - I hope you can do some of these - many of the standing ones you can do sitting. Start with the beginner and listen closely and be patient. I think the stomach and hips ones ( quick series)may be way too much at first - get the 10 in 10 one or I can send you mine - thats the classic and a good one for after beginner (If you can do.) My favorite is the am/pm one. You will not be able to do all of them ( I cannot). The exercises look like a big nothing but they really work. Stick with the beginner, try when your alone - I believe that one has alot of instruction - nosy neighbor borrowed mine 4 yrs. ago and never returned so can't remember exactly. I would rather buy another than ask for it back I would not even watch the stomach and hips one because I dont want you to get discouraged at the start. I love dh theory on the papaya tabs Sorry no weight loss but it will be there next week !

Sat.
am-yogurt and apple
midday - fruiti and watermelon
dinner - BAD - BF comes home with a pizza ! I had 3 slices and an ice cream bar after. It was a deep dish too !!! I hope the 4 lbs did not come back.

Made it to Curves.

Where's T now ?

Oh YH, pizza??? I never would have had the willpower to say no either. Well you are doing so great with all your exercising and papaya tabs that I bet you'll work it right off! It's been so long since I've had pizza....my mouth is watering!

Didn't T say her laptop is in for repairs? She doesn't know how long it will be gone and she doesn't like using dh's computer but maybe she will pop on just to say hi or maybe her repairs will be done quickly.

You will laugh at how much I paid for the Beginning Callanetics. $1.49. The $2.98 shipping was more than the product itself. The other 2 tapes were under $4 each. I read the reviews and one gal said she got the Beginning Callanetics on dvd and it was hard to manuever thru the lengthy intro each time she played it because dvds don't have a way to skip to the start easily -- no menu -- (??) and she recommended that particular tape might be less discouraging for beginners if they got it in vhs. The dvd was $25, the vhs tape was $1.49, so I got the cheapie, not knowing if I am able to even do this. I'm sure I will have lots of questions once it is delivered. Who knows, maybe we will pull C & T into this too. Your success this week was very persuasive!

I'm going to try a day with no snacking and see if that helps any. I don't know if today will be that day. Wkds are hard with dh and ds2 around, but we shall see. I think I did better when I cooked up a roast or chicken at the beginning of the week and ate my lunches off that. I feel like I am searching for legal things too much, not enough lean protein was available to me this week and so meals didn't fill me up. I have a big pork roast that I plan to slow-cook today. We will have pulled pork later and hopefully enough leftovers to get me thru the next few days.

Beverly Hillbillies marathon till noon today. It started at 11 pm last night. I fell asleep to it and dreamed about Granny. I think I will stay away from the tv today till it is over but my dh is in his glory!!

Happy Sunday Gals! D

C, looks like a great menu today. I love string cheese. The Indian stew sounds yummy. Indian as in India or as in Native American? I'm thinking the first so maybe some kind of curry flavoring? You got a good chunk of exercise in there too. Good for you!

I have stayed away from snacking all day...so far anyway. Hopefully if I hit anything later on, it will be something "legal" like a string cheese or pickle. It's still early...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I behave tonight or go to bed early!

Today's menu:

B-1 scrambled egg, spinach, coffee
L-pork roast, cauliflower, salad
D-2 turkey burgers, zucchini

Where'd ya run off to, YH? Don't beat yourself up about that pizza. It happens to the best of us.

Finally back to Curves tomorrow! I miss it and I need some exercise desparately.

Enjoy the rest of the wkd, ladies. D

Hi, y'all,

Denise, the Callenetics tapes work, but when you start, they are hard.

The exercises look deceptively easy.
23 years ago when they and the book first came out and I was a new post partum Mom who made my OBGYN get down on the floor and try to do them.
He said, "no, you can't do these untill you've had your 6 week check up!"

They worked then to get me into shape, alas, I wished I'd continued to use them, maybe I wouldn't look like I do now if I had!

Wow, I bought mine at full price to many years ago! Great price you payed.

Beginning is my favorite, but I also like the set of quick tapes, for the abdomen, hips/thighs, legs.
I'd be glad to help in any way I can, just start slow and don't get discouraged.

Today's menu:
B- at Sunday School, bite of a muffin, coffee(too late to eat)
L- beef steak pattie, steamed asparagus, tossed green salad w/ few cherry tomatoes, lc dressing, 4th of a small pear
D- (late, didn't plan very well) small Whataburger, with beef, oz cheese from home, three of hubbies fries. Total this meal: ~ 30 carbs
Total for this day: ~ 50, which is 10 over my usual limit of 40.

Exercise: 1hr Callenetics tape, 1 hr. classical voice.

Am going to have to plan better on Sunday nights when we get home late from voice lessons.

Here is to a great week, all.

Hey, I have a question, maybe stupid, but a question. Is there a name of our thread?
Does it ever start over? I found you all again because I looked at the threads I had subcribed to last Nov 07. Just wanted to know, cause I don't want to lose y'all now that I am back.

Hi, Gals--

Yes, I am freaking out without my laptop--majorly depressed. Don't like dh's office computer, but at least I get to read all your lovely posts! Hope I get mine back soon! Drawing inspiration from YH, maybe I could march down to the store and offer a bonus for getting it to me asap, but there's probably a line of folks all offering more that $20, and I'm too old to offer anything else...

YH, congrats on the 4 - 2 = 2 lb. loss! I say that's a great week when you can eat pizza and still have a net loss of 2 lbs. I'm afraid the pizza monster got me this week, too--yesterday evening as a matter of fact. Maybe the pizza gremlins were out spreading addictive vibes, after being paid off. Maybe you and I need to pay those in power $20 to not let us have any pizza, YH.

C, so glad your hands are feeling at least somewhat better. That must have scared you to hear from your ds that he had a medical emergency. Sounds like all is well now? What are moms for, eh? The lentil thing sounds really good--I love lentils. Do you think you will have to have surgery on your wrists?

D, you are brave to try the callanetics! Go gently, young lady! I tried it many years ago before I got arthritis, and they made me sore then! Maybe there's a slower way now. Thanks for the info on the sugar levels. I think my doc is being too liberal. I'm having levels in the 140's and 150's since I started checking after lunch, and I'm wondering if they'll go up even more once I start checking after dinner! I really want to go back to very low carb, because eating some carbs at every meal is just making me hungry for more, and as a result I'm eating more than I'm supposed to and not losing any weight! I don't think I'm going to try it their way much longer if I can't get this under control; I'm wasting too much time.

Oh, darn I have to get off this computer now--hope you all have a good day tomorrow--take care, everybody! T.

SC, the title that shows up for me is "New and would like a buddy." It is located under Lowcarbfriends Pen Pals. I just keep it in my Favorites so I don't have to search for it time and time again. I don't know about it starting over. Not quite sure I know what you mean??

I don't know that I can get up and down off the floor easily enough to do the Callanetics. Hopefully there are some that I can do standing or sitting. I have MS and I also weigh over 300 lbs so there are some things I can do easily and other things that I struggle with or cannot do at all. I go to Curves and there are a couple of machines I have to skip because of my weak legs but I can do most of them. I figure any exercise is better than none at all though.

I typically eat 30-40 carbs per day. What is a Whataburger? Is that a fast food burger? I've never heard of it before. First YH with the pizza and now you with the burger and fries. I would give my right arm for one of those at this moment.

Where do you sing that you take the voice lessons for? Church or choir? Just curious.

I've done good with snacking tonight. One string cheese and one bite of pork roast and water, water, water. I think I will go to bed early so that I don't hit that refrig later on!

Good night! D

Looks like we were posting at the same time, T. Glad you could pop on and say hi.

Don't get discouraged yet. Your dr is just seeing how your body reacts to certain foods and how long it takes for your body to process the carbs and lower your levels on its own. He may lower your carb intake after he sees how high your sugars are or he may recommend meds. Are you keeping a log of what you are eating? That's important, especially if you are following the plan he gave you. Pizza was probably not a good thing to eat while you are trying to determine whether you should be on meds or not. But I agree, the more carbs you eat, the more you crave. It's a vicious cycle sometimes.

You people are KILLING me here, you realize that, don't you??? I am trying so hard not to snack tonight and all I can think about now is pizza and hamburgers and french fries!!

I'm going to bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BF got a good whoopin for the pizza yesterdayhe had to hear me whine about it-he said I was being ridiculous and I could not of had 2lbs of pizza but my argument was 7000 cal.He was home all weekend so it was movie madness. Its so much harder when he is home-I did the grocery shopping Sunday and a couple other stops, bought the waterpic thing, picked up a case of Pure Protein ( shake in a can ) by Worldwide, cal-160, cal from fat-10, 35G of protein and 2 carbs ( this was at the vitamin store ), got a pedometer at Sports Authority-ill see if I actually clip to my waist to see how many steps I take(want to move more at work). I was motivated by the pizza goof and did the am/pm Callanetics dvd and 25 laps in the pool with the zoomer fins on ( was a real workout for me ). I wore a bathing capmy roots get a pinkish cast with the red hair from the pool since my roots are white.

AM and Lunch - Slimfast with 2 scoops of psy. husk powder.
Dinner - Rotis. chicken and asparagus
Snacks - fruiti, quaker mini cakes (alloted amt.), 100 cal. ice cream sandwich

T - I hope you get your computer back soon! Those fix it places can take forever, geez, you had pizza too Sorry the nutritionist advice is not going so well - you have to figure out your own plan I think plus get your numbers on track - will take some experimenting.

SC - I have this board saved to my profile and subscribe to it so I get an email when anyone posts here otherwise I could never find as there are so many. I never heard of a whataburger - I saw this show on the travel channel the other day on Texas Barbecue joints-the food looked so dang good, keep posting your menus- it gives us all ideas. Thats how I got back into shape after 3 kids - Callanetics. I can no longer do them like I did back then ! I see there is a new one out - a remake - not Callan - Callanetics Evolution.

C - Wow - your menu looks really good Sun. - did you survive on that - I hope you did ok with the snacking. Good to hear you got back on the gazelle. Good luck at the physical today - did you make a list of all the ailments - let us know how that goes. New Dr. on plan ? What is the brand of the string cheese-I bought more LC babybel light cheese yesterday.

D - I was crackin up about the prices you pd. for the tapes, wish I had the beginner one but would not be able to figure out the tape player at this point with all the wires and such -the opposite of you- I am very bad with that stuff. Looks like your eating is very good - did you make it thru snack time last nite ? I always wanted to look like Elli May, dreamin about Grannie - geez we need T here to interpret that one ! When I was watching the callan tape yesterday the pic kept going off - BF said I need a new cable for that set (s3's) - like I know what to buyI had to have another fit and made him find me the right one on ebay and bought immediately. I wait on him all the time and its a big deal for 5 min. of something I need - aggravating. I have not tried the chapter thing on the dvd's - just hitting the play button is enough - if an exercise comes up that I cannot do I just stretch or whatever. Its hard for me to do a dvd unless s3 is gone, the only place for enough space, I do some here and there from memory.

Monday - ughh - back to kindergarten for the week
PS: Just got on the scale and the 2lbs of pizza is gone so I will not get on the scale till next Sat. - obssession is over on pizza.

back on track

Ok so I got Sun out of the way & was on track all day
Weighed this morning since I am going to doc's. 236
I was told or read a zillion years ago that your true reading is naked as soon as you get up. So I get up & go pee, strip, & step on the scale. Some of you wait til later on after you've eaten & been up a few hours. Maybe it's more important that you wg at the same time of day?? See this is why I only do it once a week LOL!! The important thing is that the lbs come off

SC this thread had just been started before I joined in March of 2004. A little more than a year ago it died off & then started up again under the same name but with all new folks. I also am signed up & get the notice in my email. Some of the original gal's lost a lot & I have tried looking at the other threads to see if anyone is still here & if they kept the wgt off, but haven't recognized anyone.

It's suppose to be cloudy & 70 today so I am planning to go walk by the riverfront after the doc's today. If not I will do the Gazelle. When I am not working I can fit in exercise. I hear you on all the cables ladies....I have the Walk off the Pounds DVDs but since our tv died & we had to bring the old one up from the basement I haven't been able to figure out how to plug & unplug all the stuff that's jury rigged to it.....LOL!!!

I did have 15 almonds & a Babybel last nite as my stomach was growling & I was afraid I'd use it as an excuse to get into trouble. That India curry dish was good D. Like lentils cause they cook so quickly but this time I tried it twice before I got them done?? Couldn't figure that one out. Ended up having to add another box of my ck broth out of the freezer. Was so hungry when it was finally done a few hours later, that's why I added the can of chicken but it was so good I'd make it with the chicken next time too. Tonight is a mexican meat loaf out of my lc cookbook. Was one dh loved when I use to make it & would say are you sure this is ok for you. I use the ground sirloin so it is very lean. Then I have a big head of cauliflower I want to make up in the oven that can go into the freezer in individual servings. With all the craziness since before Easter all my individual meals are gone out of the freezer. Dh finished his off while I was gone to ds's last week.
Listening to you & D talk all those #'s Teresa just makes my head spin....scares me too cause I sure don't want to join the sugar club....hope that fear helps keep me on track!!! I remember this happening w/one of my clients 2yrs ago. She had sugar so we tested several times a day. She always ate the same things over & over. The a.m's were either a bowl of plain oatmeal w/2tbsp of ff milk or 2 strips of turkey bacon & 2 scrambled eggs==the oatmeal sent her sugar much higher....good ole very good for you oatmeal, with no good extras like raisins or butter or sugar even. So I did get her switched to the other bkf each a.m. That really confirmed the lc eating to me.
YH the cheese sticks I use are "Happy Farms real 100% string cheese". I like 'em cause they aren't salty like some of 'em. Can't give you any counts as I tossed the bag they came in, will check for you next time.
Ok I'm off to shower etc

Congrats on the 2 lb weight loss, C. Awesome job! You need to change your stats now.

Wow YH, you really went gung-ho and worked off all that pizza, didn't you? Poor bf, I doubt he'll ever bring pizza home again.

I buy Kraft or Crystal Lite Farms string cheese. C is right, some of them have a funny taste so I would buy an individual one first to see if you like it. Kraft is 80 calories, 6 fat, < l carb. I think Crystal Farms are a little lower but that might be a generic brand that is only local here. I usually toss 3 or 4 individual sticks in my cart every week but last time I had dh grab the big bag of Kraft because he was at a store that didn't carry the Crystal Farms and I was afraid to try a different kind. The Babybel Lite might be lower fat for you, YH.

Last night I had only the string cheese and bite of pork, nothing else. Went to bed with visions of pizza and hamburgers dancing in my head. But I survived and already the scale is starting to move downward. Whew. Now let's talk about vegetables for a little while.

C, I never thought of baking a cauliflower?? I've just always boiled or steamed it. I hated cauliflower till I started eating low-carb and now I really like it because it does replace certain things like mashed potatoes or rice for me. So what is in the Mexican meatloaf? Sounds yummy. Good luck at the dr's today. Hope it's only good news. A walk on the riverfront sounds really nice. Have fun!

I am just so excited to get back to Curves today. It's been way too long!! I want to lose another few lbs before my sorority events next week.

Glad we're all off to a good start this week.

-- D

Baked Califlower

1 med head calif
3tbsp butter
1/4C flour
1 1/2C ff/skim/2% milk--works w/all of 'em
1C chopped boiled ham or tky ham
8oz 2% sharp cheddar OR 4oz 2% shredd cheddar & 4oz
2% Velvetta cubed
Optional:
1/2C bread crumbs & 1 tbsp butter

Separate calif into bite size pieces & steam til tender.
Melt butter & blend in milk & flour slowly. Cook & stir til thickened (I do in micro). Stir in cheese til melted. Mix together ham & calif & spread out in pan. Pour sauce over. Combine bread crumbs w/ butter & sprinkle around the edges of the casserole. Bake at 350 for 20-35min.

I have made this alot over the years. Made it the original way with whole cheese & milk garnished w/the bread crumbs.
And of course I have tweaked it thru the years for lc & lf....
you really don't miss the crumbs around the edges but when I was doing Atkins I used crushed plain pork rinds in place of the crumbs & that worked fine. The 2% cheese works well in the sauce for lf. I make it with xanthan gum instead of flour for lc; that works too you just have to cook the sauce slowly while stirring in tiny amounts of the xg.
It makes a whole meal with the ham in it. Small green salad & ta tah there's your whole meal. Very yummy! Ds & dh love it.
Hope the tweaks don't confuse you YH. Mainly for WW's you use the lf cheese & milk.

new cauliflower recipe

That was my tried & true recipe---this is a new one I think I will make this afternoon.

Cauliflower Kugel
2 10oz pkgs froz caulf thawed, or 1 large head raw
1 med onion chopped
1 c cottage cheese
4 eggs
1/2tsp salt or vege salt
1/4tsp pepper
paprika
Preheat oven 350
Chop caulf into 1/2" pieces. Steam til tender if raw. Combine w/ onion, cott cheese, cheddar, eggs & salt/pepper. Mix well. Spread mix in pan. Sprinkle w/
paprika & bake 50-60mins until the kugel is set & lightly browned.

9 servings
5g carb (3g usable carbs)
2g fiber
10g protein

This sounds pretty yummy too. I'll let you know how it tastes.

Mix well. Spray an 8x8 w/nonstick spray.
