Glad you found that callenetics class, YH.
Can you change your Curves day? Or do you have to make appts at your Curves? I'm going to try to put a couple of days in between my Curves visits and see if that helps my aches/pains any. I was really sore on Wed.I am the poor one in my family too, me and my mother both. Father, sister, brother are all wealthy. They all went to college and worked their way up the corporate ladder. Dad retired to luxury house on golf course in Florida at age 57, lucky him. Mom and I, on the other hand, married for love. See where that got us! ![]() Those Toufayan low-carb wraps are good. Today I cooked up a shaved steak along with some cabbage and swiss cheese for lunch and stuffed all that melted goodness in a low-carb pita. Oh was that ever tasty!! ![]() Fruit can be eaten on SB but you have to wait till Phase 2 (third wk of plan) and limit portions. I personally do not have much fruit in my diet only because I have Diabetes and it raises my sugars. Otherwise I would definitely be eating it everyday, esp. if I lived in Florida where I could get all that fresh fruit. You are so lucky! Pork roast sounds delicious. Leftovers will be good on salads & on the wraps. I think you are cooking up some really yummy foods, YH. Snow has finally stopped. Have a couple of inches on the ground. I will pack some up & mail it to you. You can have it all. ![]() Goldfish sound good right about now. ![]() D |

Can you freeze the wraps or do they stay good pretty long ? The shaved steak sounds yummy. My pork roast turned out real good for once, lots of fresh garlic, made potatoes and peas too, I just had the peas. The only days I can go to Curves because of my hours/their's is Tues. Thur. and Sat. But I will check the Callanetics class out if I have the energy and I could do Curves twice a week.
AM - nothing Lunch - Shrimp cocktail and apple Dinner - Roast pork and peas. Snacks - hope im good but im in a snackin mode. I got the goldfish, two diff. flavors of the quaker cakes I have not tried, its terrible - I am thinking about these snacks like a little kid all day ![]() I looked up olives on WW - no problem with those, another new item I can get. |

It must be in the air today -- all this snacking or thinking about it.
Had some olives and almonds earlier this morning. I sliced up some pepperoni & cheese for dh and me this afternoon (did not go overboard on the pepperoni but I had to have a few slices). Now I am having a bran cracker w/soy p'nut butter. I keep thinking...if I eat all this stuff now, what I am going to have left for later??!! I may have to go to bed at 8 pm. ![]() I've frozen the wraps and had good luck but they also do last a good time in the refrig. Don't think you should leave them out tho. Did you try that new cheese yet? Let me know how it is, never had that kind of Laughing Cow but would like to. I've resolved myself that most food that is good for you is going to cost more. ![]() We've been watching marathons of I Love Lucy and Cops all day long. I took a little nap till ds2 called & said he was off the computer & that woke me up. D |

Hi, Gals--
Hey, D, if you and dh like Cops, have you ever watched Reno 911 on the Comedy channel? It's a silly, (and often gross) version of Cops, but sometimes hilarious. But you have to have a bawdy sense of humor! It's usually too weird for me, but dh thinks it's a riot. I love to watch the old reruns of the Andy Griffith show, and Mary Tyler Moore, when I can find them. I wish life could really be like that! But I suppose it would get tedious after awhile. ![]() What will you put inside the wraps, YH? I look at your menu and it doesn't seem like you eat very much at all! I'd be starving if I only ate as much as you, but that's why you're losing and I'm not! BTW, what exactly is a fruiti? Your nosy neighbor is funny--sounds like she keeps a close eye on you! I have no idea what I'd do with a nosy neighbor; everybody here pretty much keeps to themselves. But we did have a weird, nasty woman who kept screaming at dh and threatening him when he took the dog for a walk, telling him it was not legal to let her go potty on the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street (which is city-owned, not anybody's yard, and certainly not hers, not even close). All the city requires is that you pick up after your dog, which we always do, and we explained that to her, but she insisted that was not the case and was hiding out behind trees taking pictures of him and would yell at him every time he went out with Poodie. He'd always try to be civil to her, to no avail; and I got sick of him coming home all upset; so I marched down there, knocked on her door, and told her in many raised tones and perhaps unpleasant words that she better leave my dh alone or else! Apparently I scared the bejeezus out of her, because he's never heard from her since! Oops--got to go check the chicken roasting in the oven! TTYL, T. |

Teresa, you're cooking this wkd too?
I loved roasted chicken.Well I did eat on plan this wkd, staying around 1200 calories both days, but I snacked a lot more than I wanted to. It's just so hard with dh and ds2 around all day. I know I'll do much better during the week when I am alone. Never mind that watching tv all day does me in....all those darn food commercials!! ![]() Corrisann, I made your buffalo chicken for ds2 and me tonight. Scarfed it right up. We both love it. Dh had his leftover jambalaya and a polish dog as he's not too fond of chicken. I made some sugar-free jello too.Today's menu: B-2 scrambled eggs, spinach, 2 veggie sausage links, coffee S-10 almonds, 3 olives, pickled garden salad L-shaved steak, cabbage, 1 sl swiss cheese on low-carb pita S-3 sl cheddar cheese, 3 sl pepperoni, bran cracker w/soy p'nut butter D-buffalo chicken, lettuce w/low-carb dressing S-sf jello, bran cracker T, I have seen that Reno 911 on the guide, but never watched it because I'm pretty sure it's not anything I'd like. I don't like slapstick comedy at all. Dh loves that kind of stuff tho. I am more into reality tv shows and sitcoms. Cops and cooking shows are about the only reality shows I can talk dh into watching with me, although he has been known to suffer thru Big Brother with me on occasion. We like to watch TV Land --- they have all those old shows, I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Bev Hillbillies. I loved Mary Tyler Moore but haven't seen it in yrs. I could always relate to Rhoda and her weight problems! We watch Two & A Half Men, Everyone Loves Raymond, King of Queens, those kinds of sitcoms.I cannot imagine you raising your voice or using unpleasant words, T. You seem so sweet & innocent! I don't like confrontations and won't seek them out, but if cornered, believe me...I can hold my own. Dh can attest to that. ![]() YH, I hope you did okay with the snacks tonight. Did you get into the goldfish?? You had me thinking about them all afternoon. ![]() Ds2 is off to a Leadership Academy tomorrow and then to State FFA competitions Wed afternoon to Fri night. So he only goes to school on Tues & Wed this week. He is not unhappy about that. I won't go to State FFA because it involves a LOT of walking thru the state capitol bldgs, up & down lots of stairs, walking around the city of Lincoln. Parking is difficult so they walk everywhere and there's no way I could keep up so I don't even try, plus I'm sure ds2 doesn't want MOM going on every trip with him. ![]() I hope roads are ok tomorrow so we can go to Curves. Haven't been since Wed and I need to get back in the swing of things. ![]() Hope everyone had a great wkd! DLast edited by Denise78 : 03-30-2008 at 09:37 PM. |

Have not seen the Reno 911 either but ill check it out, BF would probably like. I used to like those old Benny Hill smutty humour shows but have not seen them on a listing . I would die to be June Cleaver and date Barney Fife
I liked Rhoda too- she wrote a book about getting old and fat, Don't call me Mam, it was pretty funny. I had a dog spy nut too, I put a big pile of doo on her doorstep finally and it stopped. Yup, we better watch out for T ! I am an extremely tolerent person, very laid back but when I've finally had it - watch out. Not sure what ill put in the wraps, probably my deli turkey, leftover meats, scrambled eggs, its the same as 1 sl. of my whole wheat bread but i figure itwill fill me up more and it will work for a work lunch thing. Good news and bad on last nites snacks - I disliked the quaker mini kettle corn and sour cream flavors i bought, the Goldfish were good, proceeded to the pretzels and had one healthy choice ice cream sandwich. Fruiti is a chewy candy that WW sells, its like jujubees or a hard gummie bear and its only a one pt. snack. I went to the Laughing Cow site and I still don't know what Babybel light is, I did not see the wedges, cubes, or the spread at the store. Just the 6pk of the round cheese in the netting. Yup, all this food is more expensive- and the rip off on the 100 cal. packs because I can't count-control out of the big box I should eat more healthy food but then I could not snack like I do if I want to lose. Thats my downfall - the tube and snacking. Its a ritual that I look forward too all day that I would like to break. How are you C - I still have 2 - 32" tube tv's, when I had the cell phone dilemma last week I was looking at all the georgeous tv's and the price tags ! |

Woke up to rain
Suppose to be rainy & 57!!!! I'm thinking that last lump of snow in my yard will melt today!!!!Well the dog/crazy neighbors stories were great!! I do get mad when I have to clean poo out of my yard & I don't even have a dog....never thought about hanging around w/a camera scaring people OMG people are a hoot....& poo on the door step ![]() I have a silly confession to make gal's.....one of my clients changed her hours & I have Mon's off now YEAH!!!! And right in time for nice weather. I'm so happy!!! But I have told no one of the change (well I told the office but said I didn't want to fill the slot just yet) I knew as soon as folks knew they would be trying to fill it up & I just really need some space! I cave so quick....when mom says oh boy now you can come in every Mon I can't look in her sweet face & say nope ain't coming mom, etc. Haven't even told dh cause he fills it up with hey run here & take of this that &/or the other.....is this too sneaky or what???? As you can tell I feel guilty but I really want this space.....so today I'm going to the doc's. Was going to go walk by the river but we'll see how the rain is falling after my apt. Any of you ever had sneak time that wasn't something exciting like a wonderous round of afternoon delight?? We had a great weekend! Dh rented I Legend--was good. And he rented No Country for Old Men, which I guess was a good movie in that it said different things but 2 violent action movies in a row was a bit much for me.....snacking is always such a problem w/movie time.....I love Goldfish & can never eat anything but the whole little bag so I have not bought them in a very long time. You 2 are doing so good w/fitting in the exercising--keep it up!!! Am proud of you as that is such a big hurdle!! I am still hit & miss. Was thinking about my Walk off the lbs dvd but I'm having trouble w/my hands & don't know about the wgts part. Am gonna break down & ask doc about that too. Well am off to shower---thank God no more legs in the air exams |

C, I am picturing you as Agent 99 today, sneaking off to your appts, looking both ways as you head out of the house, hat slumped low over your head, trenchcoat on.
But you are right, we always make time for others, how about a day for ourselves??!! Go enjoy it, rain or shine, just nice to take a break and not have to rush around for everyone else. ![]() More snow thru the night. Ds2's Leadership Academy was cancelled. Late start (10 am) at the school. Doubtful I will get to Curves today. Maybe Wed and Fri as I have a power shopping to do for After Prom to buy prizes with a friend tomorrow and we'll be gone the whole day. I am meeting with another friend at 2 pm today to go over a program for sorority that we're doing Wed night. We are giving a report on the healthy benefits of fruit, certain fruits in particular, while we serve the group a fresh fruit salad with yogurt dip. Then at 4:30 today, I am judging a 4H speech contest. That should be fun! Weather permitting of course, but those things are later in the day and much closer than Curves so I'm sure I'll get to them. I don't get too friendly with neighbors anymore. Been burned more than once so I just wave and go about my business. No socializing with them. After listening to you gals' stories, maybe that's just as well. ![]() Hope you all have a great Monday! D |

You have a busy schedule D this week ! I wish I was attending your fruit exhibit - what fruit should I be eating that im not - I luv raspberries but too dang expensive, they want 4.00 for one pomegranite at the store. The 4 H speech judging should be fun - that reminds me of the Wisconsin State Fair that I just love. No good state fairs in Fl. I hated that public speaking class tho I did get an A on a pet peeve speech i did on nose picking, for real, had a mannequin pickin her nose
![]() C - I am sooo jealous - Secret Mondays off I think you need to keep this under your hat as long as possible. You deserve it ! Why are you going to the doc ? What did he say - we want a full report ! I hope you had a good secret day off - we wont tell. You are still suppose to go to that GYN too ! Geez, we got a real Secret Agent now.Betty Crocker at work gives me a Giant pc. of this lemon type zillion calorie dessert she made - I took one bite - then I followed D's instructions to take it home for BF or S3 - now I got this thing on my kitchen counter taunting me. I thought of D scolding me when I was ready to round file ![]() I am very tired today- back acting up again - up since 145am-so im going to relax. Every year on April Fool's I coat the toilet seat with vaseline. BF goes ballistic every year and he can never remember its April's Fool's Day. I can't wait to get yelled at on the phone tommorrow ![]() |

Too funny with the toilet seat, YH.
I vaseline the doorknobs and that drives my family crazy. I will try to remember the back doorknob tonight after dh has gone to bed. Will kill him when he goes for that 4:30 am cigarette and can't get the door open. I will vaseline ds2's bathroom doorknob too. I love April Fools. My mother would be so proud that you didn't waste any food. Just don't you touch that dessert!!! I am doing great today with my eating. I knew it was just a matter of turning the tv off and getting dh and ds2 out of the house. Fruits -- strawberries improve memory function and help with rheumatoid arthritis, pineapple helps when you have a cold by loosening mucus and suppressing coughs, blueberries promote urinary tract health & maintains healthy vision & night vision, cantaloupes are very good about preventing cataract probs, to name just a few. Well the roads are clear now so I will be judging that speech contest. We have state and county fairs every yr. Fun! DLast edited by Denise78 : 03-31-2008 at 12:59 PM. |

Back from the 4H speech contest. I didn't realize I was the ONLY judge!
Lots of fun but very hard to pick the winners, especially the ones to go to Regionals. These kids worked really hard. Ages were 5 to 12. Oh the little ones were sooo adorable, all dressed up with their hair slicked back and big smiles on their faces. They asked me if I would be willing to travel to different counties to judge other contests and they'd pay my mileage. I told them it depended on how far it was. Some of these counties are 2 hours away!I've eaten on plan today, no snacking so far. Today's menu: B-buffalo chicken w/lettuce on low-carb pita, coffee L-cabbage, mozzarella cheese D-boneless, skinless baked chicken, lettuce w/low-carb dressing, sf jello Ds2 was disappointed to come home & find out I ate the last of the buffalo chicken. He really loves that stuff. I will have to make it again soon.Tomorrow my friend & I are power shopping for After Prom prizes and awards, leaving at 8 am to go Wal-Mart and other stores that are 2 hours away. We probably won't get home till night time. She is a skinny energetic friend, one that is go, go, go! Hope I can keep up with her. At least lunch will be easy -- she always chooses salads! --- DLast edited by Denise78 : 03-31-2008 at 06:49 PM. |

Sounds like you are having so much fun, D! This must mean you are feeling better; you were pretty tired around the time you had to make all those cupcakes--glad you are able to get out and about and do all these interesting things! And at the same time be good about the eating--hooray!
Whenever I do anything stimulating, or depressing, it's always cause to eat! When is the prom? Corrisann, I agree w/YH that you should definitely hang on to your day off and keep it to yourself as long as possible! We never get enough time for ourselves, and although I don't know why it has to be so hard to say no to people, it is, so I hope you are able to keep your day off just for you. Glad you finally got a chance to go to the doctor yourself, too, instead of caring for and taking clients when you needed a turn! Hope you can get some relief for your hands! ![]() YH, did you heave that zillion calorie lemon thing into the round file? Why do people do these things to us? Congrats for not caving! D, thanks for the info on the fruit--it's great to know there is actually something good tasting out there that's healthy for you! Hope you had fun shopping today. I had a decent dinner tonight--trying to eat more vegetables, so got some Chinese food. Just sauteed veggies w/tofu, and an eggplant dish. No rice. Had a guest for dinner, so it wasn't just dh and me; that was fun for a change. Hope y'all had a great day! T. |

You did great on the chinese food T, thats tough, no rice. S3 orders chinese alot but I just skip at this point. What an exciting day you will have shopping T = what kind of prizes and for what, when s3 went to prom here it cost a fortune i remember, but its a diff. lifestyle with the young people here - lots of parent's money and when your the poor one not fun. S. Florida is a terrible place to raise kids and I always regretted moving here. Your menu was excellent D !
I see the lemon thing vanished this am-good. I went to bed early-I am hoping I have the energy-less aches to go to the night Callanetics class today . AM - Kiwi and cantelope Drink potion Lunch - Shrimp and a greens salad. Dinner - Leftover Pork roast and cabbage ( spanish rice for guys ) Snack - Fruiti and 3 mini quaker cakes ( still dislike the new flavor ) ill toss or keep so I eat less and can pretend thats all there is ![]() Exercise - none - went to bed at 700pm |

Aw, YH, I bet you won't be the oldest or the most out of shape in that class! It sounds like fun, too, an adventure. That's a real commitment you are making to drive all that way. But I imagine you'll learn the right way to do the exercises and then you can do them at home with more confidence. Anyway, it's got to be fun to go do exercise with other women!
![]() D, what's up with you today? Hope you're doing OK; it's so unusual not to hear from you all day! ![]() C, wondering how your doctor appointment went? What did they say about your hands? Did you get the SB book? I looked for mine and couldn't find it; I guess I got rid of it a while back. But as I recall, the first 2 weeks are pretty much like Atkins. I know you can start with Phase 2 if you like, but I can't remember exactly what's allowable on that. Hope it's been going well for you. I should get back to posting meals to try to get myself back in line. I weighed today, and I'm up 7 lbs. Not good. B - spinach, egg yolk, ham, lc flax seed toast w/butter L - salad w/melon, few dried cranberries, turkey, r. beef, salami D - leftover Chinese mixed vegetables, eggplant, chicken S - 1/2 pc. olive bread w/liverwurst TTYL everyone! Man you need to toss folks out just so you have time & space to sort all those clothes YH!!! Think of the treasures that are buried in a pile that you have forgotten about LOL!! Comfortable & form fitting....well that's a joke... if you made it to class I hope you enjoyed & it relaxed you!! Maybe help you sleep better too! Your menu for today looks good--more like real meals being consumed--might help you with the nite time snacking.
So how was the power shopping D?? You must be pooped tonight! The judging sounds like fun but I agree that I wouldn't want to be the only judge! I got more ck breasts so I need to get that buffalo ck made again. Was filling & really stuck to my ribs so to speak. The doc confirmed my fears--have carpal tunnel in both hands. Can't say I was surprised, just was hoping that I could continue to pretend that my hands aren't working right. She put me on a dose of steroids (one of the side effects is gaining wgt....I know all of you have had to deal w/this issue around many meds) & I went & got measured for & picked up those hand braces for nite. Don't think I had them tight enough last nite so I'll do a little firmer tonight. Go back Mon for my physical. She said that the drugs/braces/therapy might get me back into a good place for another 2yrs. Have to go see the hand doc at some point but I want to do this first. Dh just listened & nodded a couple times thru the whole speel until I said I should probably reduce my hours while my hands heal. Then he actually stopped what he was doing & gave me such a look. He never said anything but it made me mad & hurt my feelings at the same time. He makes enough for us to live off of & I know that he just feels antsy around the MI economy & my working makes him feel more secure. But I don't want to have permanently crippled hands either.....dh's....sometimes ya just don't know what to do with 'em......feel bad for people when they have to give their mates a serious diognosis' like MS.....has your dh managed to handle it ok D? Two of my clients that have it have supportive mates but the one gal's husband just couldn't accept it & was really hard on her. I know he was staying cause they still had 2 younger kids & he was so mean to her. Like she got it & screwed up her own life just to mess up his--yeah right AO.....the doc's scale weighted me lighter than my home one, which is what happened before at different doc's office. Doesn't matter now but when I get to the point where my scale is saying 202 & I'm actually at 199 it will matter LOL!!! T the chinese food sounds like you ordered pretty well. I can pass the rice just fine but I do love the egg/spring rolls...& I've never been able to get into tofu. Tried it a number of ways. Company for dinner is always nice, especially when you didn't have to cook!! Well ladies I'm off to the kitchen to set up the a.m. coffee & pack lunches. |

Oh, Corrisann, I am so sorry to hear about your carpal tunnel.
That must be so painful! How long do you have to take steroids, and at what dose? I hope not too high. If you don't have to be on them for too long, you may not gain weight. At least low carb can be helpful in curbing appetite. And I can't believe your dh not supporting you to cut your hours! You should be able to take the amount of time off that you need to heal--I hope you will do this for yourself. On the plus side, you weigh less than you thought! That doesn't happen to very many of us! ![]() D, I just realized you were shopping all day out of town and that's why we didn't hear from you today--hope you had a great day and are resting comfortably now. Look forward to hearing about your shopping adventure! T. |

Finally Home!
What a day we had! Started out at 8 am and didn't get home till after 10 pm. It was a 2 hour ride each way and we stopped along the way to shop too. Hit 2 different KMarts, Wal-Mart, Target and lots and lots of small stores and businesses. Whew, I am wiped out. But we got tons and tons of prizes, spent about $1000 today. It's always nice to spend someone else's $$.
Our prom is a week from Saturday. I am running the After Prom Party, which will run from 12:30 am to 4:00 am. Tough night but it is a really good cause -- keeps those kids off the streets and away from drinking and driving! ![]() My friend called while I was gone and I'm sure she wants to go to Curves tomorrow but I tell ya, I can barely walk now so I know I will be bedridden tomorrow. There's just no way I'll be able to do it, especially where I have a sorority meeting tomorrow night. So I'll have to pass on Curves and get back to it either Thurs or Fri.Eating was haphazard today. I was running late this morning so breakfast was quickly made and swallowed. We did stop at a restaurant for lunch but supper only came about because my sugars were down to 62 and it was after 8 pm and I had to insist on stopping at a grocery store to grab some pepperoni and cheese at least because I didn't trust myself to eat at a drive-thru. I needed something I could eat while driving and we still had a 2 hour ride home plus some stops along the way. Got home and I'm still only at 91 so I had to force some food down even tho I'm not really hungry now. Today's menu: B-1 scrambled egg, coffee L-chicken fiesta salad (chicken, lettuce, peppers, shredded cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa -- no shell or tortilla chips) D-Laughing Cow babyel rounds (3) and 15 sl pepperoni S-1 low-carb pita, 1 sl cheese, soy p'nut butter, 1/2 cup sf pudding Sorry to hear about your hand prob's, C. Pls do what the dr recommends and don't push yourself. You really don't want to end up crippled for the rest of your life. I'm very lucky that dh has a lot of compassion for me and my disability. I am legally disabled and cannot work and he totally understands that I have limitations. He doesn't begrudge me not working or if I am having a bad day and cannot get to the dishes or cleaning. He's helpful as far as massaging my legs & feet when I am in pain, shaving my legs, giving me pedicures, things I have a hard time doing myself. Heck, there are days that dh has to hook my bra and put my socks on me, but he does it all with a smile on his face so I am very lucky. Not to say we don't fight. Believe me, there are days when I think I could very easily trade him in! But all in all, he's a pretty decent guy and knows that I didn't choose to be disabled, that's just the way it turned out. I think it helps that I try to keep a positive attitude about my MS and try not to let it get me down. I think your dh will be fine once he realizes how serious a matter your carpal tunnel is. But if you need to vent...that's what we're here for! ![]() YH, how was the callenetics class? I think we should have seen a pic of you in your new form-fitting outfit! Good for you for going even when you were exhausted -- awesome job! T....7 lbs....well it happened and you've faced it and now it is time to deal with it. You've got some obstacles in front of you with the meds but that doesn't mean it's impossible to lose those 7 lbs and get back on track. Focus on eating healthy and keeping those carbs at a good balance, and the weight will start coming off. I read that any amount of movement, even if you are just jiggling in your chair or shivering, helps to burn calories, so keep that in mind. My dh asked me if I have a nervous problem now....I am always moving and shaking and bouncing around. So Teresa, if you cannot exercise, JIGGLE!! ![]() On that note, I am going to bed! Good night Ladies! DLast edited by Denise78 : 04-01-2008 at 10:37 PM. |
