Funny where those things hide!!
Phase One is 2 wks. If you follow it faithfully and cut out all the restricted carbs including fruit, you can lose 8-13 lbs in those first 2 weeks. Once you go onto Phase Two, it is a slower loss but at least a couple of lbs a week. When I did it over the summer, I lost 16 lbs in the first 3 weeks. You stay on Phase Two till you reach your goal and then use Phase Three for maintenance. Or you can pop back to Phase One anytime you feel you need to get stricter, like you are doing now. Good luck with it!! Well ds2 is wanting the computer, so off I go!! |

As I recall, phase 1 is pretty much like Atkins, isn't it? Except I think you get almost unlimited nonstarchy vegs, right? Hope this gets you off to a good start, C. And hope you enjoyed a nice long soak in the tub! Too bad you have to read diet books in it, tho!
![]() It looks like I may need to go more the SB way, too, since I saw the endo doc today and she pronounced me diabetic. Got the finger stick thingy and have to measure my glucose level every day now, and try to keep it under 180. She said I get 2 months to see if I can control it thru diet, but if not, I have to go on the meds. OMG! I have too many of those already! So I am going to try hard to get the diet correct. Doc says low carb is good, but not too low carb or my body will get so it can't metabolize them at all, and that's not what you want. So I guess induction is not the right plan for me any more. I'm going to have to experiment around a bit and see what seems like a realistic carb level for my lifestyle and see how it measures, and go for a slower weight loss. Maybe have to go the old reduced calorie route, but will still have to be some form of low carb, I just don't know how low. I have to see the nutritionist about this.D, I feel sorry for you having to make up 60 cupcakes! Does ds know about your physical challenges? I sure hope you get some decent rest tonight! Also, how amazing your dh is a better cook than you? Man--can I move over there and you guys adopt me? Maybe you should get your dh to make those cupcakes, then all those kids would be clamoring to get them from him! ![]() YH, those back extension machines, or any kind of back exercise always wrecks my back; so I bet that's what did it to you. You should relax a little until you're not so sore. How did bf hurt his back and legs? Re your snake visitor--in a dream, a snake trying to get into your house would be a symbol of change that needs to happen, since snakes represent change and transformation, and the house represents your state of consciousness. Uh-oh! Don't tell you anything you didn't already know, huh! Hope things at home start changing for the better for you soon! ![]() Take care, everyone. T. |

Based on that 50% rule I would be better off with my own SS I think- unless you knew he would croak shortly -but I will look into it further. Without knowing the numbers ( his earnings years-its hard to guess ). Those were just for example numbers but this will be my new obssesive mission-to find out. And who knows what we will get if anything - I feel sorry for the young people not set in life when they get old- Im glad I wont be here to see it, hopefully in my next world petting tigers and wilderbeast and at pure peace.
Ok, let me get this straight, T is starting the low carb - calories maybe- needs to see nutritionist. SB type diet. C is starting ph. 1 of South Beach. I have those books too-where they are at is another story, and D is South Beach modified ( more balanced). Ill glance at them if I can find, I also know people that lost plenty on both plans. Can't say if they kept it off or not as I have not seen them in years. I remember the very first Atkins and did that and lost weight, do you still have to do the urine stick thing ? If my memory serves me right coffee was a no no on Atkins so could not do that. My issue would be the fruit and coffee hence giving WW a shot this time. I may get the old Fit For Life Book out - remember that one ?- it all had to do with food combining-basically never mix starch with a protein at a meal. Suzanne Somers copied alot of that one.I am not following WW to a T because if I used all the flex pts, activity pts, etc. I may or may not lose -very slow - by slow I mean if you go to a WW meeting when they weigh you they do it in tenths of a pound. I dont think I could get real exited or motivated losing .2 of a pound in a week. Yup, the next time I take a soak ill bring the diet books with me so I can understand better ![]() There was a big article in our paper yesterday about belly fat - quite technical - bottom line is that its a direct link to alzheimers and demetia, does not matter if you are thin- you cannot have belly fat Now the article did not tell you how to get rid of this nasty belly fat that is strangling all your organs. If your at goal maybe you have to have a tummy tuck ? Then you have to pay for it. I have been rubbing my belly with the potion. T- did you just get diagnosed yesterday with the diabetes ? I hope this can be straighted out with diet, all those new pills you don't want to start, D will be a big help in this area. Losing slow will be ok, you dont have mounds to lose - you would like to lose like 30 more? You gotta take care of yourself. Took 2 back pills last nite, so now I have the big headache for work all day. I am glad its Friday. Yesterday AM-pear and cantelope Lunch- oatmeal w strawberries and 1 egg Dinner - rib eye steak on the grill ( 1/2 of one ) brocolli Snacks- fruiti, popcorn w ff marg, pretzels, healthy choice 100 cal. ice cream sandwich ( ugh.................) Bad girl. ![]() All those cupcakes D I bet they are pretty ! |

Starting over here....just lost a long post. Ugh.
![]() Teresa, sorry to hear you have Diabetes. Normal levels before eating are 70-100 and after eating are 120-140 so 180 seems rather high to me. I am not a dr by any means, but I am educated in Diabetes, having had it for so long, so if you have any questions, just ask. Did they tell you what your fasting glucose level was?Yes YH, I am following SB in a modified manner. In some ways I am stricter than Phase 1 and 2 and in some ways I am not. I am focusing on getting my sugar levels down, in addition to losing weight, so I have to vary their plan a little to suit my needs and I really want a healthy, balanced way of eating. South Beach and Atkins have a lot of similarities. Probably because SB was developed by a cardiologist who saw the success rate of Atkins but realized that it was too high in fats to be a healthy long-term way of eating for his heart patients, so he "fine-tweaked" it and it's actually a great plan for Diabetics too. It restricts the high carbs for the first 2 weeks but then allows you to gradually bring back the good carbs into your diet. It's all about slowing the digestion of high carb foods so that the starches don't turn to glucose too fast in your system and it focuses on making healthier choices to slow that digestion...like eating whole grain breads versus refined processed white bread. How eating fruit with skin or pulp turns to sugar slower than drinking fruit juice, sweet potatoes are better for you than white potatoes, etc. After Phase 1, for instance, you can have fruit but it recommends not having it before lunch because fruit turns to glucose more rapidly in the mornings than it does later in the day. Even if you don't follow the plan faithfully, it gives you suggestions on making healthier food choices. I think SB would be a good thing for you to look into T, now that you are Diabetic. But really, we're all individuals so I figure, whatever works for you is what you should stick with. If there was one miracle weight loss cure, we wouldn't have all these different food plans, would we? ![]() YH, I hope your back feels better soon. I think C is right...stay away from the exercising but a nice steam or swim in the pool might be good for you. We have a whirlpool bathtub and dh loves it for his aches and pains but I am not a tub person. Showers are for me. I stress out in the tub, thinking of all the things I could be doing instead of laying there. ![]() The steak sounds yummy. We're grilling pork steaks tonight. We've had such nice weather here lately. I will not even think about that nasty word you mentioned, C, (snow) because I do NOT want to see it anymore for the rest of this season!! ![]() So what are everyone's plans for the wkd? I think we are staying home for once. Ds2 is helping coach a little kids wrestling tournament tomorrow so he will be gone for the day. I have a busy week ahead so I guess it's best that this wkd will be a quiet one.Have a good day ladies! DLast edited by Denise78 : 03-28-2008 at 07:05 AM. |

Break time
I am taking a much-needed break from making cupcakes.
Been at it for hours. Then I ran out of frosting and cupcake liners. Fortunately dh was leaving work early so he stopped at the store for me, because I am covered in frosting and sprinkles and didn't want to go looking like this!I made some vanilla cupcakes, some chocolate cupcakes and then I mixed the 2 and made some marble cupcakes. We have pink, yellow, blue, green, orange and chocolate swirls with tons of different kinds of nuts, sprinkles, hearts, flowers, bunnies, jelly beans, etc. I don't ever want to see another freakin' cupcake for a very long time! ![]() T, you asked if my son knows about my physical challenges. He's such a helpful kid, always jumping up to get me a drink or my glasses because he knows I cannot do a lot, and he really asks so little of me, so I hate to say no to the things he does ask. I have to say, my kids are my life. Dh too, but especially my kids. And I am so fearful there will come a day when I cannot do all these things. I only have ds2 in high school. I've gotten ds1 almost thru college, he has 1 more yr to go. Not to get too teary-eyed and emotional here, but if there ever comes a day when I cannot do all this, I want my younger son to have the same memories that my older one did...of his mother chaperoning events, cheering him on at every game and meet, making treats for his class and church parties, and being involved in his life. I think it's important that I do as much as I can while I am physically able to, so I do push myself to the limit. Okay, I can't think about this as it makes me too sad...![]() Anyway, I've been so busy, I haven't even stopped for lunch. Amazing. But those psyllium pills really do fill me up and are helping greatly. Thanks YH! ![]() My friend that I go to Curves with is such a thoughtful person. She sent me a cheerful bouquet of spring-colored carnations in a coffee mug today with a card that read...."23 and counting!" I think I've lost more weight this week but I will wait till tomorrow morning for the official number.Well, time to put another doz cupcakes in the oven so break-time is over! Thats amazing D - all those cupcakes - I cannot recall the last time I had one. You are really a good mom ! Glad those psy pills are helping. I take it you did not get to Curves today - what a sweet friend you have there.
T - the snake dream was sure target, the snake was actually laying on my door wanting to come in. BF has had problems for years, back-legs - now just seeing a doc. Sounds like T and C are getting real serious now, glad to hear that ![]() I left work an hour early today, went to the gym and sat in the sauna and the whirlpool - I was ticked as the water was cold. I love the tub - I always add epsom salts and some aromatherapy oils. Back is a bit better today -pain has now gone to the neck- I hope its ok tommorrow so I can escape to Curves since I missed Thurs. or ill do the pool. AM- Pineapple and nectarine Drink potion Lunch - 2 sl. deli turkey br. on 1 sl. whole wheat Dinner - WW lasagna frozen meal ( never had ) Snacks - unknown ( I was having an attack last night because im out of the little quaker cakes-but at least I did not get dressed and go to the store). I hope I lost some weight this week but kinda leery. No specific plans for the weekend yet, BF will just want to watch movies and rest his back, he sleeps alot on the pills now, I'm not hearing the cha ching cha chang all nite with the Poker site. Now he wants to lose weight because of his back. |

TGF!!!!! What a looonnngggg day!!! My client was horrible today---crabby beyond belief! Was very hard to be patient. Usually I am very understanding but she jumped on all my buttons today
![]() But I ate completely on plan & feel better as I know where I am. Was getting pretty confused while I was trying to pull all my thoughts together ![]() My SB book was a quick reference book & then I had bought a SB cookbook of course cause I'm a cookoholic LOL!! Today at the Salvation Army store I found the complete hardback for 99cents. The first few chapters were very helpful & it also has more recipes. Really think SB is the way for me to go. The re-try at WW's just was not working. I'm going to try & not get into all the # figuring as that Doc is right--it gets old & we give it up & revert back. I am writing down what I'm eating though. Bkft=Southwestern Style Frittita coffee w/2tbsp ff cream MS=hard boiled egg L=shrimp, 1/2C lf cottage cheese 1/4C artichoke salad AS=2 hard boiled eggs D=Peppery Steak w/horseradish cream broccoli tomato ES=sf jello w/ 2tbsp whipped topping Good thing I had tossed those 2 extra hb eggs in my cooler as I ended up doing errands between 5:30 & 7:30 on my way home & I would have been in a mess w/o 'em. Tomorrow I am going to get the mozz cheese sticks & some raw nuts to carry with me for my snacks. Since it's 9pm already I think I can have some diet pop & collapse into bed w/o even thinking of eating. Am looking forward to having free time this weekend too D!! Been quite a stretch w/o any down time & I am so tired! That's probably a good thing that bf wants to lose weight too YH. Good excuse to not be snacking while movie watching. Ooohhh I'd be so disgusted if I made the effort to get to the club & then the water was cold!!!! That's one of the problems with going to local highschools for the water classes, they don't keep the water near warm enough. So sorry to hear about the diabetes Teresa!!! One more thing to have to cope with....life just ain't fair at times!! No more desserts for you for sure now.... the dietician should help you a lot. Took one of my clients in for several sessions when she found out she had sugar issues. It's a good healthy eating plan w/limited starches. Lots more to eat than there is not to eat. Fruit was limited. I also think the SB would work great for you. I go to the doc on Mon & I was thinking about asking her to check my sugar level just cause of my weight, but now that you had this happen it's scared me off....LOL!!! Well dh is wanting me to come into the lr & watch tv with him...not quite the kind of offer he use to make in years past but at least he still likes me to cuddle with him on the sofa LOL!!!! |

frittata
Ok YH here's the frittata recipe. It is pretty much an omelet that goes under the broiler at the end for a couple minutes. You can use almost any combination of ingredients you want. This takes 5 minutes to toss together & cooks in 10 so it is easy both for breakfast & a quick dinner.
Southwest Style Chicken Frittata 6large eggs lightly beaten 6oz chicken breast (I used canned cause that's what I had on hand this morning) 2oz 2% shredded cheddar cheese 1/2C salsa Heat broiler. Season eggs w/salt & pepper. Spray 8" skillet w/cooking spray (one that will stand the heat of going under the broiler) over medium heat. Spread chicken around pan in a single layer. Pour eggs over chicken & cook undisturbed, until eggs are almost set, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle eggs evenly w/cheese & dollop with salsa. Broil until eggs are set & cheese is melted, about 1 minute. cut into 4 portions 200 cal 10g fat 4g sat fat 23g protein 3g carbs 430g sodium I am going to make it with a can of crab that I have in the cupboard & use a swiss or monterey jack, whichever I can find in 2%. Ham, veggies, so many choices. And of course you could veriy the heat of the salsa--I used mild but for dh I would use med or hot. |

Sorry to hear your client was so cranky, C. At least it's Friday and not Monday!
![]() I had a craving for an omelette this morning so I made a spinach & cheese one using Egg Beaters. It's so easy making omelettes with those since they are pre-mixed and you just pour it into the pan. And they are much lower in fat, calories and cholesterol than regular eggs, about the same for carbs. Today's menu: B-spinach & cheese Egg Beaters omelette, coffee L-none D-grilled pork steak, broccoli, lettuce w/low-carb dressing S-10 olives, 2 pickles, 1/2 cup cottage cheese C, I'm so glad you found your food plan "niche." No matter what plan you follow, I do think it really helps to write down everything you eat. Makes you more accountable and you can see where your "problem" times of the day are and hopefully work on that. It's good that you pack emergency snacks too since you never know exactly what time you come home. String cheese and nuts are excellent choices. ![]() Glad to hear bf wants to lose weight, YH. It always helps to have someone you live with watching what they eat too. Did you get your quaker snacks? I hate when I run out of a snack I depend on! ![]() I have not had a diet pop in 7 wks! I gave it up for Lent and just never went back to it. I don't even miss it now either. Been drinking water or Wyler's lite lemonade and have been satisfied and happy. T, how are you doing? I hope you are not getting overwhelmed by everything that's happening to you. Just take it one day at a time and it will all work itself out. And remember...we are here to help you get thru this. ![]() You have a nice night with that dh of yours, C. Cuddling is nice! YH, hope you are having fun watching movies!Well guess it's time I go & pay attention to my own dh. Catch ya later! DLast edited by Denise78 : 03-28-2008 at 08:21 PM. |

Hi, Gals--
Well, I have just had a great day! Our younger daughter called last night and said she was in San Francisco, and could come down today to visit. We had not seen her for almost 2 yrs. And it just so happened that dh's youngest son was also coming down from the Bay Area to watch a basketball game with dh, so he and dd came down together! She looked great, seemed happy, and I got to hear about her job (she's a nanny for a baby and a 3 yr. old) and school, etc. I have missed her so much, and don't often hear from her, so this was a very special day. She's living in Portland now, and was in Spain for a year before that. She wants to go back and teach English, so is working on getting her degree.D, I hear ya on wanting to do as much for your kids as possible so they'll have nice memories. I'm glad I was in better health when mine were small, so I was able to be soccer mom, volunteer in their schools, etc. I feel so bad I am not able to do for my grandkids like I could for the kids. I sometimes wonder if my dd1 would have moved away if I could have helped her more with the kids; but she said she moved to get away from their dad. ![]() Anyway, I understand how you'd want to make all those cupcakes--did you take a picture of them? I know you don't want to see another cupcake for a long time, but they sound so cute! D, how long have you been diabetic? You have to give yourself insulin shots? My fasting glucose was Ok--98, but it went up to 185 after 1 hour, and at 2 hours was 201. Doc said over 200 is diabetic, even tho fasting level is alright. Says I'm not able to handle the sugars. But when would I ever eat anything as sweet as that glucose solution! I ate a bran muffin for breakfast this morning, plus an egg yolk and spinach, and 2 hours later my level was only 96! I have a hard time believing I am really diabetic, except for the fact that I have neuropathy. That's what started this whole thing. Oh, and I guess the fact that if I eat carbs I don't feel too good, and they make me a lot hungrier. But I think it's borderline. She says she'll still say I'm diabetic, but diet-controlled; i.e. if I'm able to stay under 180, which at this point doesn't look difficult. C, congrats on getting motivated and getting on the plan! Looks like the bathtub reading is the way to go! I didn't know you loved to cook that much! I guess you are just so busy you don't always have as much time to do it as you'd like. Too bad your client gave you such a hard time--good thing you had those hard boiled eggs to rely on! YH, what a bummer to go to the gym with a nice hot soak in mind to soothe your sore muscles, only to find the water's not hot! I hope they got the problem fixed so you can do it in the future. Did bf get to the doctor yet? Do you have any clue as to what's wrong with his legs? Poor guy! Hope your neck is feeling better. If the story about belly fat is true, it explains why I am getting so forgetful--it's alzheimer's on the way! Oh well, if my belly fat is bringing it on, I will at least be unconcerned about losing weight any more! Just take me to the home now and get it overwith. I hear the food is pretty good at some of those places. ![]() Take care, all. T. |

So glad you got to visit with your dd T and she sounds like she is doing well. She moved to get away from your dh ? You also have a dd in San Diego and 2 grandchildren, correct ? And dh also has a son ? Trying to get the right pic here. I have the belly alzheimers too. Maybe we will forget we are on a diet
My GF left to go teach in Portugal. All the gals I have met that I connected with in Fl. have all left so I really don't have any gf's here anymore and don't make an effort to meet new friends. There is one gal but all she wants to do is go to the casino and thats not my thing because can't afford to lose $$$. I like the horsie races but then I feel bad for the animals altho I think the race horsies fare better than the greyhounds. S3 has a gambling problem in addition to the others, I dont need to run into S3 at a gaming place when im trying to drag him to GA meetings.I am excited for T and C - you got the niche figured out and it sounds like SB will be a great choice. I am going to make the frittata's but when you say put a skillet in the broiler is that a frypan??? I bought 2 six packs of the sf jello but keep forgetting they are in the back of the fridge. I tried a new 100 cal. stella doro ( original ) pac last nite - did not care for. The hard boiled eggs are lifesavers - I take some to work every week now. I am at the point now where I can tell I need some protein by how I feel. I will look for laughing cow this weekend. Still debating on whether or not to quit gym 2002 - out of the sauna, steam, and whirlpool something's always broke. Since its in a giant bldg. they claim the problems are due to the building as they have no seperate controls. Yesterday I complained again and left posty notes - they are getting sick of me i think. Thanks for bringing up the Sal. Army - we have alot of those type places and flea markets and a new idea for me to escape on Saturdays. I heard there is a new fruit -veg market ( we don't have those ) so I may take a drive there today. I really can't bring any more junk home as I have so much. I just can't get motivated to go thru all these clothes - plus I have to be quiet while everyone sleeps all day - therefore the escape on weekends. As soon as season is over S1 is a night manager at a plushy studio hotel on the ocean - he can get an employee rate of 39.00 or maybe slide me in there when not booked full like now, if this is true that would be great-ill go every other weekend and they have kitchens to boil eggs tell BF to join me if he likes. The rates are like 500 a night now at this joint,S1 says its nothing for the rich widows to have 10,000 hotel bills, must be nice. Well I can only hope he does not get fired before I can go.![]() My weight loss for this week is 2 pounds ![]() |

Congrat's on the 2lb loss YH!!!! Keep up the good work!!A friends ds worked on a cruise ship as dj for a year & she got to go once for free. When there are empty rooms sometimes family members can go. So she got this great trip & wonderful time w/ ds! So I'd go everyweek that I could YH LOL!!! Rich widows....sounds like something out of a movie! A skillet, frying pan whichever. Main thing is that it has a handle that won't melt under the heat of the broiler. I'm having the 2nd half of the fritatta for bkf now. I have a old cast iron skillet that I use. So glad you had the visit w/your dd & ds Teresa!! Special times that get us thru all the mundane days. That & your anniversary....happy days for you recently!! Teaching English in different countries seems to be fairly common any more--know several kids (well adults, but you know, kids in our minds forever ha!) that have done it. My ds was considering going to Japan & teaching English over the summer but decided to take more college classes since he's older & needs to move things along. It's a great experience for them! Well I'm off to enjoy my morning coffee in front of the boob tube watching Turner Classic Movies channel--then I am up to use my walker. Then off to the bulk food store to buy my nuts. So beautiful & sunny outside today ![]() might make it up to 45 today!!! |

Congrats on the 2 lb loss, YH.
![]() That hotel s1 works at sounds really nice. Is he single? Maybe he will hook up with one of those rich widows But sounds like a nice get-away once the prices drop. Your escape!! Forget about coming to Ashby, I'll meet ya at that hotel, haha. How are your back and neck feeling? I hope better.T, a medium-sized bran muffin is approx 25 carbs, 1 cup cooked spinach is 7 carbs and an egg yolk is .30 carbs. If you ate all that and your sugars were only 96...doesn't sound like Diabetes to me. That muffin would have put my sugars thru the roof! Unless it was a low-carb muffin?? That glucose drink is sickly sweet, isn't it? I had that when I had Gestational Diabetes 17 yrs ago, which I did control with diet because I refused to take meds while pregnant. The Gestational Diabetes left once ds2 was born. Didn't come down with full-blown Diabetes till about 5 yrs ago. They never gave me the glucose drink this time around. They just tested my urine and I was at 238 fasting, so they knew I had Diabetes for sure. I think if you curb your carbs (not cut them out but just lower them), you should be fine. Did they tell you to test different times of the day? Mornings are higher readings for me than during the day or evenings, but most people are the opposite. My dr thinks I have dawn phenomenon. I go to bed with very low sugars but they raise upon waking, even tho I haven't eaten anything for 8-10 hours. Fortunately I am on insulin so I just take some first thing every morning to control that. I am on 4 injections a day normally but over the past few weeks have cut that down to 3 injections because my sugars have been so low by lunchtime that I don't need any insulin then. Last night my sugars were 110 at bedtime. The dr had told me not to go to bed that low, to make sure they were at 150 or higher. But I was too tired and not hungry to eat at 11 pm so I just went to sleep without a snack. This morning, they were 174. The highest they have been in about a month. So now I know I need that bedtime snack because normally they are between 115-130 when I wake up and then 80-100 all during the waking hours and sometimes even lower if I am exercising and eating only a salad for lunch. Try eating your typical dinner and then test 2 hours later. Perhaps you are higher in the afternoons or evenings. Otherwise, it sounds very controllable with diet and hopefully you won't have to go on any meds. You just might have to give up the pie tho. ![]() I love flea markets! Ex-husb and I used to take the kids every wkd to a huge one in New Hampshire. Just loved to stroll and look around. They have a giant one in Denver, about 4 hours from us. We pass it when we take the kids to the airport. But I don't think I could do that walking now and dh has bad ankles so he cannot walk very far either. We went to an indoor one when we were visiting in Florida one year in Ft. Myers. Ex-husb lives there now and we had taken the kids to visit him several yrs ago, so dh, stepson and I went to the flea market while they were gone. That was pretty nice too, not as big and it was before I came down with MS. Last flea market I ever went to. I miss doing those kinds of things. ![]() T, I am so happy you got to see your dd and ds. What a great day for you! Just the pick-me-up you needed, wasn't it? ![]() Looks like we are posting at the same time again, C. It is extremely windy here today. I wanted to grill later but I think that is out of the question today. I have a roast defrosted. I will cut that up and make bracioles instead. Ds2 has been requesting them. (Sm sliced steaks stuffed with various things -- I usually put crumbled bacon, chopped hardboiled egg, shredded cheese, garlic, little breadcrumb and then roll them and secure with toothpicks or string). They are delicious in a red sauce but will make them plain today with no bread crumbs so that I can enjoy them too. ![]() Oh one more thing...my mom lived in Portugal for many yrs. My stepfather was Portuguese and so they moved there (he still had family there) and absolutely loved it but sadly, he had a heart attack and died on the spot after they had been there 7 yrs. So she moved back to U.S. about 10 yrs ago. I never did get to visit as it was back in the lean days, little babies, big mortgage on house, etc., but she said it was a gorgeous place. Have a great day everyone. I will be back later with my weigh-in. DLast edited by Denise78 : 03-29-2008 at 07:22 AM. |

easy & great
Well I just had the best lunch & it was so easy and so very
satisfiying so I thought I would pop in & say hello & write it down for our non cookers LOL Take a microwavable bowl & spread 1C fat free refried beans on it. Sprinkle 1oz 2% shredded cheddar on that. Put in micro til cheese melts. Take out & sprinkle banana peppers, & chopped tomato on top. Put some spoons of salsa on top & then 2tbsp of lf sour cream dropped in dallops across the top. OMG was that a wonderful Mexican fix!!! And I never missed the tortilla. So I will be making this a lot Got to the market & got my nuts & cheese sticks. Lots of good fresh veggies too like cauliflower & broccoli. Snap peas too--which you can have on SB, yeah!!! Love them tossed into a stir fry. Am going to make us Indian Chicken out of my SB cookbk for dinner tonight--but I'm using the lean pork loin chops since dh doesn't do ck. He loves Thai & Indian food. Ok enough blab for now. Hope you all are enjoying your Sat's!!! |

Sounds like a yummy lunch, C, but I didn't know you could have refried beans on SB?? They are extremely high in carbs. I see other beans listed in Phase 1 but not refried. Unless maybe it is in your cookbook for Phase 1? Also...just a SB tip for you, which you may or may not know already....most fat-free items are higher in carbs than their regular counter-parts. I think it talks about that in the SB book. Fat-free or low-fat items are better suited for WW plan than SB. If you are doing SB, you probably need to stick to regular or low-carb salad dressing, sour cream, cream cheese, etc., or at least check labels to see which is lower carb. It is a hard choice sometimes to decide which is better for you...the lower carb or the no fat/less calories but SB goes with the lower carb as far as those items go. Usually the "lite" item is lower in carbs than the "fat-free" item.
Am down 3 lbs this week so that is good. I want to kick butt this next week but I have a lot of running around to do, so I am hoping that doesn't stress me out and cause me to go off plan. ![]() Hope everyone is having a good day. Dh & I are watching a marathon of Hell's Kitchen. Never saw that show before. But we are breaking for lunch and my turkey burgers are calling me so I will catch you later. D |

Just got home, managed to disappear for a long time. I went to Curves and went around twice-stayed clear of two machines because of back/neck. Took a ride out to the farmer's market - a great find - cheap prices too. Lots of interesting meat I would never buy and did not know what most of it was- Carribbean-West Indian type market - of course no one spoke English but this is a keeper for fruits and veggies -Got 2 movie rentals: No Country for Old Men and Atonement. Oh yes, two neighbors stopped me and asked how much weight ive lost so it must be showing to some people - I wanted to avoid this conversation but I was cornered. One of them was the nosy neighbor who has been on a diet for 4 yrs. - has a personal |
