I LOVE Hot and Sour Soup! I have to try your recipe, D!

We are so lucky to be living out here in N. California. There are so many diverse cultures here, and they all have grocery stores! It is such a delight to go shopping out here b/c you can find the most exotic items. In my H&S soup I like to use julienned Tree Ear Mushrooms. They have a nice little "tender chew" to them and their flavor is WONDERFUL. I don't know if you can get them out there in NE. If you can, though, they are SO worth it!

Thanks again for the new recipe to an old favorite.

Corrisann, that buffalo chicken was a big hit with my family tonight. No one could believe it was low-carb. Delicious!! Thanks so much for the recipe. It's one we will have again for sure.

Today's menu:

B-scrambled Egg Beaters w/spinach, coffee
L-hot & sour soup
D-buffalo chicken tenders, broccoli
S-2 pickles, 6 olives

We have a funeral to go to tomorrow, elderly neighbor of ours. That's one thing about small towns...everytime the ambulance goes by...it's someone you know

Well I need to get to bed so you luck out with a short post here. Did too much this wkd but the refrig needed cleaning out, laundry needed done, life goes on. Dh was a sweetie and did mounds of dishes this morning so that helped. But I overdid it a bit today. Hopefully the Aleve kicks in soon.

Catch ya in the the A.M. --- D

Sunday's deal

Sunday

AM - Yogurt

Lunch - apple and plum, 1 deli slice turkey, 2 jumbo fresh shrimp

Dinner - Kielbasa and cabbage

Snacks - too many: 1 -100 cal. snack pack of cheese nips ( dont even know
why I bought these-saw all these pks. on sale and never had ), mini pretzels-too many, fruities, ww ice cream, a few animal crackers. Feel guilty now.

I should have grabbed the pickle jar !

I should not have eaten all those snacks especially having the Kielbasa for dinner. I made mashed potatos for the guys and I had the cabbage. I had a hard time laying around with BF watching movies-I may have to tell him I can't do this - or limit to 2 movies.
I did manage to jump in the pool for 25 minutes in the am.

Today is the dreaded jury call - from what ive been told you sit around all day with hoards of people waiting to be called and its an all day affair-I will probably be stuck there till 500pm. Ill pack a lunch as there is just vending machines I am told and bring lots of reading material. I know - im being a big baby

Have a decent Monday everyone !

I like the concept of helping out by being on a jury but it does sound like for the most part it is boring and long and drawn-out and not something I'd look forward to unless it was a very interesting case. Then again, the interesting ones end up being the long drawn-out ones so you can't win. I wish for you a speedy trial LOL. If you even get that far today.

I hear you about the snacking. Sometimes I am on a roll and cannot stop. The good thing is that you watch tv in the bedroom, right? Not in the kitchen. So make yourself up a platter with your "legal" items and make a deal with yourself that you will not go back for anything else. I do this sometimes at night when we are watching tv and I am in a snacking mood. I find that the large Claussen pickles satisfy my crunching if I slice them up and eat them like chips in a bowl. You can have more than one of those. I throw a few of those large green olives in the bowl too (because they have pits, I cannot eat a handful at once and they take me a little longer to gnaw on). You can have those mini pretzels on WW, right? So count them out and toss them on your plate. If you set yourself up ahead of time with the right foods and DON'T go back to the kitchen, it might work out. I know, I know, easier said than done but just trying to be helpful as that is a "challenge" I face too. Snacking is my worst habit. And I do much better during the week when I don't have dh eating at my side all day long. Darn those men that can eat and eat and not gain an ounce!!

Good for the morning swim! That takes care of some of your snacking yesterday!!

Have a good day everyone!

---D

Hey there ladies! Right about 50 out & raining. Melting all the snow & some of the ice. Course this evening it's dropping to the 20's & all this wet is gonna freeze & then we're gonna get 3-5" of snow on top of it all tomorrow cause that's the fun of a 4 season state like MI.....LOL!!!

That setting up a plate of your own snacks works real well!! Have done it many times in the past, whatever woe I was doing. If your bf really wants to make a marathon out of it use one of your meals. We'd start the 1st movie eating lunch--something fun like hamburger & fries for him--has to have the fast food kind of a feel to work ya know. Then you set out his snacks & yours when you're ready on movie 2or 3. Found I actually had to put his altogether on some kind of a tray too...the mind is a strange thing isn't it??? But all these tricks worked fine & I was real satisfied. And not feeling cheated I didn't start picking off his tray. The small bags of micro popcorn are good on points & really tasty. But I love cheese it's/nips & would be happy w/them. Doing WW's you could also make up some baked Lay's corn chips & 2%Velveta & salsa. That feels like a "show" food. Guess it mainly means advanced planning until you get more wgt off & eat this way naturally. So'd you see any good movies?? Am jealous that you got to take a swim..

I've had to serve jury duty 3 times. I think it's important that everyone take their turn. I sure understood the whole process better after I did. The 2 cases I was on were federal ct & the 1 I waited all day & didn't get called was also federal now that I think about it. One I was the 13th juror & had to sit thru the 3days & then was released when it was time for the jury to deliberate. The next case was many years later & it was very interesting to be deciding someones fate. So I hope you didn't just sit & be bored YH!!

We lived in a sweat equity apt bldg for 5yrs & I remember all those meetings...& being on committes & on the board...& the work days....was ok when we were young but now I don't want to take anybody's crap...LOL!!!! Glad to hear your meeting was sweet & to the point. Does make folks veiw things differently when they are involved with their own property. We had 24units. And we were an old bldg from the 1920's so the apts were quite large.

Dh loves hot & sour soup--should make that recipe for him. 'Cept he hates tofu ha!

We don't have Shasta brand. We have diet Faygo in all the flavors but I don't believe they are made w/Splenda. Some of the things that were all over the place 4yrs ago are gone or much harder to find now. Thought w/diabetics & all other diets using Splenda that things would stick around. Oh well. Did at least find my 1Carb ketchup again at Kroger's.

Need to get off here & look for something to have cooking tomorrow while I am at work. It's a 9-5:15 day but I take my lunch & snack so that's not an issue.

Menu today:
Bkf=coffee w/cream 4 slices porkloin roast
L=cheese stick 8 shrimp small v8
D=egg & cheese omelette lsns bacon (I ate this when I walked in the door cause I was starved)
S=?? but it will be protein as it's only 4:15 & I've eaten dinner...LOL!!!

Looks like a big yawn in your post, Corrisann.

Been on the go today and again tomorrow and oh heck it's everyday this week that I am running around. I really need to slow down because I think I pay more attention to what I am preparing and eating for meals when I give myself time to think about it and plan ahead.

Today's Menu:

B-scrambled Egg Beaters, buffalo chicken tenders, coffee
L-shaved steak w/1 tsp shredded cheese in low-carb pita, buffalo chicken tenders
D-grilled pork steak, cole slaw (made w/Splenda), sugar-free applesauce
S-3 olives

I really didn't need the 2 proteins at lunch. I think my portions were too big at supper with the cole slaw and I really didn't need the applesauce at 12 carbs but...it was there.
So we'll see if these errors in judgement affect my weight loss this week. Thankfully it's only Monday so I have time to tighten my belt before weigh-in again.

How was jury duty, YH? Did you get picked??

Don't send that weather my way, C!! We had it yesterday but today was nicer, although a little cool and breezy, but definitely not snow and ice --- brrrr!!

Hope you all had a good Monday!

----Denise

Uga Buga

The jury thing is over - there were 1200 people in the pool- 1100 complaining-by the time I got to my judge the case was settled. Sit and wait all day.

Breakfast - yogurt, banana,peach

Lunch- 2 sl. turkey breast, 1 sl. roast beef on low carb wrap
celery sticks

Dinner - Jumbo shrimp cocktail, teeny bit of cocktail sauce, nuked left over cabbage

Snacks - fruities and mini pretzels

Exercise - few callanetics

S3 has been working 4 days in a row now, not reg. job, cash deal with a buddy but thats been wonderful - a miracle within itself - hope project lasts for awhile. No swearing, slamming, anger, drinking, drugs - he actually called me on his way home from work to see if i wanted anything from Mc D. I deal with it one day at a time - have to.

Snacking - thanks for the tips on making up a tray - im going to try that. Silly me thinks I'll sit and watch all those movies and not snack and that never works. I live in my bedroom 90 percent of the time im home since s3 moved in. BTW-the movies stunk-all of them- but BF has it in his head that you must watch them especially if he rented them ! I am more of a critic.

Newsflash!I read on the hungry girl site that real pickle popscicles will be out shortly

C - Is a sweat equity place like a co-op, where you dont really own the land, you have shares in the place ?

Now my mouth hurts, I will probably end up in emergency dental chair by the end of this week, started taking amoxocillan yesterday in hopes of " warding off " the unknown. I grind my teeth very bad so hoping thats it but doubtful.

One of these days we will all wake up and say we feel terrific

Have a decent day.

Good Morning!

Too bad about the jury thing YH, sounds like a very boring time, but thankfully over and done with now.

Glad to hear your son is taking strides in the right direction. Isn't it nice when things are peaceful on the homefront??!!

It's a good thing I am not a sweet-eater because I'm having to make so many cakes lately. Last week was ds2's b'day, yesterday I made one for the coffee after the funeral, tonight we are celebrating dh's b'day so just popped another cake in the oven this morning and on Friday, I need to make a cake for Coach's b'day to have at our end-of-season wrestling party. Geesh. I am all caked out and I haven't had one bite!

Pickle Popsicles I have never heard of those before! Guess you can't knock'em till you try'em but....doesn't sound very appetizing!

I see where you've jumped on the "shrimp train" with Corrisann & me, YH. Isn't that a good lunch/dinner to have? Nice and low-carb, low-calorie, low-fat. Yum! I bet that is a good thing you could have during your movie marathons!

Sorry to hear about your mouth pain. Have you tried that mouth rinse, Act Total? I think that's the name. It really helps dh and I with minor tooth pain, supposed to fill in the soft spots on your teeth and build them up. I use Listerine a lot too to kill the bacteria on the advice of my dentist since Diabetics get a lot of dental issues, gingivitis, peridontal disease, infections, etc.

So today I am going to get my nails done and hopefully repair a big boo-boo. I snagged a nail on my blanket the other night and ripped the nail down so low, it bled. Ouch! I've got it wrapped up with a band-aid and it's tender and hard to type. But you notice it hasn't stopped me!

Tonight we are grilling ribeye steaks to celebrate dh's b'day. I am going to marinate some veggies in low-carb Italian dressing and grill them on skewers...zucchini, cherry tomatoes, peppers, onions...Mmmmm!!

Have a good day all D

Hello Ladies!

Quote:
I've had to serve jury duty 3 times. I think it's important that everyone take their turn.
C - I do too. In 2005, I was on a jury for a murder case! Very notorious around here! It was in all the local newspapers and on TV. I'll never forget it. The man shot his wife and (T, don't listen) his poor innocent dog with a shotgun right out in front of his house on a Friday afternoon with all the neighborhood watching. She was running from him after he'd confessed to her about molesting both their only son (10 yrs. earlier) AND THE DOG! UGH! She ran across the street to a neighbor's house where there was a day care, and as she called 911 in a panic on her cell phone (we were played the tape of it several times), he shot her to death on the neighbor's front porch. Hearing her die like that just took my breath away. A couple of shotgun pellets the size of good-sized bullets zinged through the neighbor's house walls, but thankfully missed everyone. Then he chased and killed the dog (brutally - I won't go into details) with the gun. We found him GUILTY of first degree murder AND EXTREME cruelty to animals, and he's doing 25 to life. He confessed to the entire thing in a 5 hour confession on tape that they played back to us in court.

But I'm glad I did it. It was my civic duty and I'm sure that I won't have to do it again on such a volatile case. They said as much. It haunts me to this day though.

Anyway, my food is good. Lost another 2 lbs. Got to go cook a few meals now for the next 2 weeks.

Oh wait! Have you guys tried the new Atkins Endulge Bars? OMG!! They are sooo good! The Chocolate Coconut Bar tastes EXACTLY like a Mounds Bar, and the only thing wrong with them is that they are TOO good! It takes a bit to "just say no" to them: one per day is my limit.

Anyway, take care...ttyl.

Geez, D...all those cakes! Very proud of you that you did not touch any and lick all the frosting out of the bowls. Hope the birthday was good- and grilled steaks are the best - ribeye is my fav. - so pricey tho.

BF did not go to work Tues. - more movies after work.

Tues. food

AM:Fresh pineapple, grapes, and orange slice
Drink potion without whey

Lunch: 1/2 can progresso soup
1 harb boiled egg
7 radishes

Dinner: Brat on a bun
Peas

Snack: 1 fruitie

I feel I am off to a bad start this week with the Kielbasa and snacks on Sun. and the brat on a white hd bun Tues. Even tho im within pt. range plus have the flex weekly pts., I just know its no good. I am trying to use up all this food I have in the freezer- I need more willpower when cooking for the guys and then not eat what im making them.

Happy Wed. Tonite I have a Board meeting to pick out a new front door for the building..ughhh...have to go for self preservation or something may be picked out that does not go with the building style. Its at 800pm and thats my bedtime.

I was looking at airfares yesterday as I have a niece getting married in early June-I am normally last minute but the fares will be going up. Her sister got married last June and at the wedding I got a couple comments from family that has not seen me in awhile " Gee, you really put on some weight, I never saw you this fat ". I have not decided if im going or not for sure due to finances.

Congrats on the 2lbs HB!! Am trying to remember if the Endulge bars were one of the brands I used for vacation last year?? Do remember that they were so full of protein that I didn't have to eat for quite awhile after. The one case that I had to hear the preview on the case & then didn't get selected was a murder & I was so glad I didn't have to hear all the details!

Was going thru a all chicken cookbook at lunch yesterday & realized that 90% of the recipes would work. Alot of them were to be served over pasta etc but you could just make the ck dish & skip adding pastas etc. Most were pretty quick. The one I made last nite you cooked your 4 blsl chicken breasts in olive oil, added 1c chopped onion & couple cloves garlic, cook down for a few minutes. Then stir in a can of Italian stewed tomates & simmer it all for a few more minutes. I drained mine at this point as I didn't want it to be a "wet" sauce as I wasn't serving it w/pasta. You sprinkle 1 1/2C mozz on top & put under broiler til cheese is all melted. Next time I will add some Italian blend seasoning to the tomates. Will reheat for lunch real well.

YH isn't family just grand??? LOL!!! So quick to point out the obvious with no tack!! Seems to me like you are eating so light--are you going to be able to go the rest of your life eating so little each day?? If so that's fine--I know folks that do eat that little each day. I just can't get my mind around eating that lightly. Can see why you have points left at the end of the day. Course portion control is still an issue for me.....Lord help me if I really have to eat that light to succeed cause I won't make it...
is the idea behind the points to teach you to eat so much less & be satisfied? I've had 2 friends that loss large amounts on WW's & have kept it off the last 3-4yrs. And of course they've kept it off cause they didn't return to their old eating habits.

All those cakes D--good thing you don't have a sweet tooth!! Hope you are feeling better!! Love steak but don't cook it well so it's a waste of money--& it cost so much in a resturant so we don't have it often. And of course steak goes best with a big baked potato w/butter & sour cream....

Well I need to get off here as we had another 5" of snow last nite....so my later start this morning of 10 is lost cause I have to be on the road early to get there by 10
Are saying on the morning news that this is our snowiest winter in about 40yrs.

Count me in on the snow!! Although we only got hit with a couple of inches...so far...still snowing so we'll see how the day ends. Was going to go to the gym today but I won't drive that far in icy weather unless it's a must. I could use a day at home anyway. Have a meeting tonight that I need to go to that is a bit out in the country so I'll save my travels for that, weather permitting.

Oh the ribeyes were sooooo good!! Not an everyday purchase here but it was a b'day dinner and cheaper than taking the 4 of us out to a restaurant, that's for sure. I ended up broiling the veggies on skewers in the oven while dh was grilling the steaks outside, faster that way. They came out really good too as I marinated them in low-carb Ital. dressing first and drizzled some on while they were cooking. I didn't even miss the baked potato! Had some leftover coleslaw also, but kept the portion smaller than the night before.

Yesterday's menu:

B-scrambled Egg Beaters w/tsp shredded cheese and few sl zucchini in low-carb tortilla shell
L-Chicken club salad from Arby's (unbreaded chicken) w/light ranch dressing
D-steak, coleslaw, marinated zucchini, tomatoes, onions, peppers
S-1 pickle, 4 olives, 10 sl pepperoni, 1/2 low-carb pita w/lettuce

You can make up for the white bun, YH. Just get to the pool or hit those callenetics (sp?) this week. Put that meltbelt on!! I know I overate (on good things) this wkd but still overate. The steak was so good but it's like a weight in my stomach, so heavy in protein. For me, I have to keep the portions smaller if I want to see a weight loss and I don't feel deprived at all. I think you have very healthy well-balanced menus. I wish I could eat the fruit but it raises my sugar levels so I can't. If you can't give up the bread....why not pick up some whole grain from the store on your next trip. That way, if you feel the need to have that bun or bread when you're cooking for your guys, at least the whole grain is better for you than the white. My dr told me, just cutting the bread in half, eating the bottom bun only or 1/2 the bun, is such an improvement so maybe you can do that next time.

My guys, especially dh and ds1, have such a sweet tooth. They loaded up their cake with ice cream last night. I just sat there and enjoyed the conversation. Dh said, "Oh just take one bite, it won't hurt you." Nope. Because I knew one bite would lead to one piece and one piece would lead to ice cream on top. Didn't need it, didn't want it, didn't have it. But like I said, if they were pushing a slice of pizza on me, I'd have had to leave the table!

That chicken sounds good Corrissann. Like a low-carb chicken parmesan. I would enjoy that.

I have not seen my family in about 3 years due to health issues and my heavy weight. I have never weighed this much in my life, not even close. So I will wait till I have lost a good amount before they see me again. Sad but this isn't the impression I want them to have of me, especially when we see each other so infrequently. And it gives me a great incentive to lose the weight once and for all. That is my reward when I lose all the weight....a trip back East to see my family and a whole new wardrobe.

Hi Teresa, just in case you peek in...we miss you!!

Have a good day everyone! ---Denise

Afterthought

YH -- do they make turkey brats or low-fat polish dogs or something lower in fat that you could eat along with your guys? If I cannot eat what my guys are having, I try to find something similar so I feel like I am eating the same thing as them. Like tonight, I am making a boiled dinner -- corned beef, cabbage, potatoes. I am going to make myself some cauliflower with Smart Balance butter, so I won't feel deprived that I don't get the potatoes. Just a thought. If I am thinking too much....tell me to shut up!

C - the chicken dish sounds good - now do you put the breasts like in a fry pan and with how much olive oil, need baby directions - I only know how to bake meat or grill.

I guess the whole WW deal is yes, you have to eat less, portion control - LIFESTYLE-you get so many pts to use depending on your current weight and how much you want to lose - how the maintenence part works - dont know. They also tell you to get x amt. of oils in per day and x amt. of dairy, now if I do that I would not be able to have any snacks at all and probably fail.

I have lost weight many xs in the past and had to eat very little to lose or exercise like a banshee which i cant physically do anymore. Geez, the age thing makes it tough, huh, when i was young I would go on all the fad diets and did lose 10 in 7. The one diet I lost the most on was the orig. Scarsdale from the early 70's - could not do that anymore - all those cans of tuna that i hated. I was younger and vain back then, its sucks getting old.

So my bottom line is I cant eat much to lose weight - once ive lost the weight cant eat much to stay there. Just think we can be on this board till we keel over.Maybe a Super Geritol will come out so we can eat whatever we want and exercise like crazyI dont think it matters what plan you are on.

I had a nightmare about the white hot dog bun at work today while i was dozing at my lazy goverment job. Thats a good point D - if i have to have bread do the half, I rarely eat bread so buying the healthy buns, bread, would be a waste of money. The guys eat the nature's own whole wheat and thats not bad. I stopped buying the hot french loaves as that would be too much torture for me.

Yep, I am 100 % Polish - I go to the Polish store to get the sausage, etc. so I dont think I would find a good replacement. I think I just have to stop going to the Polish store-boy, I would love a real pierogi right now.

D- did all the weight gain start with the MS ? How long ago was the diagnosis ? That would be a goal - incentive for seeing the family - I understand what you are saying. Like the comments I got about gaining weight from the Milwaukee beer belly crowdSomehow going to the wedding thinner is not much of an incentive for me. Gotta find a better one like its going to be roasting here shortly - sleeveless tops - shorts. I promise i will try a turkey dog, bacon, or whatever - I honestly looked at all that stuff at the store and could not bring myself to buy any - same on those veggie burgers.

Wed.

AM - Pineapple and peach

Lunch - Green salad w 1 sl. of deli turkey breast, 1 hb egg, and 1/2 red pepper, olive oil & vin. dressing
Drink potion ( no whey )

Dinner -Baked chicken from deli ( I love the skin but will try to take off )
Cauliflower

Snacks- unknown

Got the board meeting tonite and will avoid the snack tray that the neighbor always has - she has been on a diet for 6 yrs. now and has not lost a pound-geez, I wonder why.

Congrats on the 2lbs HB!!
Thanks Corrisann! I appreciate that! My doc says I'm moving consistantly in the right direction.

Am trying to remember if the Endulge bars were one of the brands I used for vacation last year?? Do remember that they were so full of protein that I didn't have to eat for quite awhile after.
They may be b/c they are very satisfying for being such a small bar. But the flavor is "indescribably delicious"! I've also bought a creme-filled peanut bar, but I'm holding off until tomorrow <drool!> b/c I only want to have one of those per day. THEY ARE SOOO GOOD THOUGH! I think you can buy them on Netrition, and if you like Mounds Bar, you'll love this!

The one case that I had to hear the preview on the case & then didn't get selected was a murder & I was so glad I didn't have to hear all the details!
I'll bet! I did hear them, and I believe I won't get over it fully for the rest of my life. Just after the trial it was about all I could think of, and I think I might have second guessed myself if it wasn't such and open and shut case. He did it in front of the entire neighborhood! And thanks heavens for that! We did the right thing (as a group), listened respectfully and took copious notes, and knowing that, I was able to sleep well at night. I viewed it as a huge and very serious responsibilty, and I treated him as I would want someone to treat me were I in that position.

Everyone - All the recipes sound good. I'll have to try them.

I did my walk today. First time all week since I just got back to work today (sick Mon & Tues). I won't even tell you guys about the glorious weather we're having right now. I listened to my radio as I walked and just took it easy. I am really tired right now - guess it'll take a few days. But I did walk. Now it's nap time.

Pickle Popsicles I have never heard of those before! Guess you can't knock'em till you try'em but....doesn't sound very appetizing!
Out here in Gilroy, CA at the Garlic Festival they have Garlic Ice Cream! Who knows what their creative minds will cook up?

Take Care and Hang in There!

YH, don't buy any of those turkey dogs or burgers if you don't like the looks of them. You want to enjoy your food, not suffer eating something that doesn't interest you. I'm the oddball because I do like them but I wouldn't eat them if I didn't. Maybe you need to eat those sausages on Sat nights, after you weigh-in, as your treat that week. It's not really a cheat, it's just probably more fat than you want to eat on a daily basis. That's what gets me through the week, knowing that if I have a big yearning for something, I can have it on Saturday, as long as I don't over-indulge and gain back all the weight I've lost during the week! But don't beat yourself up over this. You slipped a little but looks like you are right back on track so I bet it doesn't even show on the scales come the wkd!

Yes, I gained a TON of weight when I came down with MS, was diagnosed about 4 yrs ago. The dr started me on all different kinds of meds, most of them having side affects that were worse than my MS symptoms to begin with, and when one didn't work, he'd put me on another. At the same time, my other dr was experimenting with Diabetes meds (which I was diagnosed with almost a yr before the MS), which several of them also had weight-gain as a symptom and she finally put me on insulin injections. At one point I was on 5 daily injections and over 13 pills a day! I gained over 100 lbs in the last 3-4 yrs. Not every ounce was from meds, but combine it with quitting smoking and going out on disability and being home everyday and not being able to get around as much as I used to and yep...it all added up together to give me quite the hefty gain in what I consider a short amount of time. I've always struggled with weight but never went over 200 lbs my entire life till I started having all these problems. The last my family saw me was at 215 and they were surprised by how I looked then because I normally was in the 150's to 160's. Can you imagine what they'd think now that I've gone over 300??!! I'd like to get down to at least what I looked like the last they saw me before I see them again. Hopefully it will be sometime in late 2008 or early 2009, but we shall see. I'm also determined to get off the insulin. The Catch-22 for me is that insulin makes you hungry. So you eat more. Then you need more insulin because you ate more. Then you get hungrier. Aaaggh. Anyway, I think I will be on this board for a very long time...so I hope you guys stick with me long after you are skinny-minnies!!

I think with any weight loss, you are stricter in the beginning. Atkins has Induction, South Beach has Phase I, WW has the pts system. Once you get to your goal, you can relax a little and go on maintenance, as long as you keep an eye on your weight and tighten the belt if/when you need to. But I think portion control does play a major role in any food plan, no matter what it is. If there was a diet or WOE that allowed us to eat as much of the good stuff (pizza, ice cream, cookies, pasta, breads) as we wanted, I doubt very much there would be any overweight people left in this world! I guess we just need to find what works for each of us and stick with it!

Weather is looking better this afternoon. Sun is shining and snow is starting to melt. Whew. It's my turn to drive tonight and I hate driving on bad roads but I do so love my sorority mtgs so I wouldn't want to miss it.

YH, good luck at your mtg. Hope it runs smoothly w/no headaches!

Looks like everyone is having a successful week/day so keep at it gang!

---D

thank heavens I finished up with my 2nd client early & was home at 6 instead of 7:30!! when I took on the 2nd client on Wed's I thought she was going to be 10-1, so I'd have a hour & a half break & then on to 2nd client. well she's been so happy w/me she's been keeping me til 3 so that I am having to fly off to #2. am so tired when I am done!! this working for a living sucks LOL!!!

YH the turkey kelbasha(sp?) & sausage from the brand name co's is actually very good. we've eaten it for years just cause we like sausage but have never liked the grease. So I'd say try some. You can buy the whole grain buns or flat breads & wrap them up good & double bag 'em in the freezer & they keep pretty well. but if you're not a bread person I wouldn't encourage you...LOL!! bread-good quality-is a problem for me. will leave the sweets alone but if it's hot fresh baked bread.....I be in trouble

the main roads were not bad this a.m. as the snow quit during the early morning hours & they were plowing all nite. but the subs & side streets were crappy. HB am glad that you are getting your walking in--still w/the backpack? and you are right, we don't want to hear about your great weather

YH you take a skillet & put 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil in it. turn the heat on med for a couple min's to heat the oil. place the 4 chicken breasts in the oil & cook about 7 min's on each side. then push the ck to the sides of the pan & dump the onion & garlic in the middle. cook about 6-7min's til the onions are soft & smelling good. then pour the tomatoes in the middle w/the onions. you want to cook til the chicken is cooked all the way thru. stir the tomato/onion mix a few times while it's simmering.

think I am screwing myself up as I can't set myself solid on what I am doing. need to get it together this week and get my act together!!! don't mind being here sharing tips on maintenance in 5yrs but sure don't what to be still trying to loose wgt while you guys are all sharing maintenance tips:

ok ladies I'm off to the sofa to enjoy my extra free time.

Bkft-lsns bacon & eggs
L-8 shrimp about 20 green grapes
D-that Itl ck w/veggies

have a great dinner ladies....

Good Morning!

Well I don't know why the scale isn't cooperating with me this week. I think it might be because I've been on the go so much, I really haven't been drinking as much water as normal and of course, not being home much, I haven't been taking my lasix (water pills). So I'm retaining and the scale is going back and forth. I hope it moves (downward) by the wkd!!

I'm with you on the hot fresh baked breads Corrisann. So I don't usually buy the fresh bread because I don't know if I'd have the willpower to say no to that! Of course, Ds2 asked me to make him some garlic bread pizza tonight. Oh Lord help me with this one. I buy a loaf of French bread and layer it with butter & garlic powder and toast it in the oven, then add sauce, mozzarella & pepperoni and bake or broil it more, and boy is it good. Too good. So this will be a huge challenge for me tonight.

I went to my meeting last night and passed on the dessert. It was a really yummy one with layers of pastry, pudding, whipped cream and nuts. The hostess made 2 kinds, chocolate and butterscotch. She said she used sugar-free butterscotch pudding but I still didn't partake. I'm not a huge fan of butterscotch to begin with but those sugar-free puddings still contain carbs and raise my sugars a good amount so I declined. Of course, when I got home, I was searching for "legal" things I could eat. I should have taken something with me to the mtg because by then, it was late, 11 pm, and even though I didn't eat anything off-plan, it was still too late to be eating...period. My sugars were pretty high this morning so I won't be doing that again!

Yesterday's menu:

B-scrambled Egg Beaters w/spinach, coffee
L-2 turkey burgers, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, lettuce w/low-carb dressing
D-corned beef, cabbage, cauliflower, cup of chicken broth
S-cabbage & cauliflower in chicken broth w/1 tbs shredded mozzarella, 6 slices pepperoni, 1 pickle, 2 sl salami w/mustard in low-carb tortilla shell, 10
