Wed.

Hello all...

D- You are really doing good, you hardly ate yesterday, thats great you can get the food down in the am ! I am jealous of the small town , my dream is to retire to a nice quiet place, few people - maybe East TN - but everyone from Florida is moving there now. I hate it here, the traffic / people are truly mean and horrible. I am in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area.

HB- you are lucky to get the OT, my wonderful place of employment cut me off completely after 21yrs of service - they hired someone even tho it cost them 3x's as much, im having hard times making ends meet now....and what am i going to do at my age, work part time for pennies, i dont think so, I can barely make it with one job !!!

C - Where do you live the the Great Lakes area ?? I am originally from Milwaukee - I visit often as my brothers are still there.

Thanks for not banishing me from the kingdom for being a smoker.

Hello T and everyone else.

Back to my lazy County job.

Hi, All--

I didn't get checked in yesterday because I had a really busy day. But that was nice because I'm such a creature of habit, it was good to have a break in the routine! We went to a New Music soiree in a fancy house on the ocean bluffs last night, where there was a harpist, a singer, pianist, and cello player. It was interesting, and of course there had to be a buffet... But I did pretty well; just took mostly the protein foods and only had one little pecan tassie to finish. So my weight was not up today.

Congratulations, YH for dumping those bagels! They are one of everybody's favorite foods, but at least now we can have the cream cheese! Or maybe not on WW? Can you basically eat what you want, but have to stay within a certain calorie range? I sympathize with you and Denise on all the meds and physical problems! But losing weight definitely helps! I sure feel better after losing 10% of my body weight, and cutting out the inflammatory starches!

Denise, you sure are doing great on your eating plans! I will put mine up but I'm afraid they're pretty boring--I tend to eat the same stuff over and over! (Don't like to cook) HB has a lot of great recipes--yeah, HB you should write a cookbook! Those porkchops sound to die for! How many children do you have, Denise? Are any of them still at home?

HB, good for you to be walking every day! That's probably better than bike riding, and maybe safer, too, although it's nice to be able to do both. So you like to dance! That's cool--what a great way to get in shape and have fun doing it!

Corrisann, I like your idea to do water aerobics! I think that's something I might be able to do so I'm going to look into it here. It sounds like SB is working better for you than straight Atkins. At some point we have to start adding back fruit and complex carbs, so it's good you're getting that done and feeling more satisfied with it. And even tho the weight may come off a little more slowly, it will, and then you won't have to make any big adjustments.

today's menu:

B - egg yolk, bacon, steamed spinach
L - salad, one shrimp and one carne asada red enchilada (no tortilla)
D - halibut, mayo, eggplant/tomato/onion saute, chard
S - lc choc, gouda cheese, almonds

Here's to our mutual success! T.

Hi There!

I'm happy we're all resisting temptations. Buffets must be one of the hardest. I have a hard time not over-filling my plate or going back for seconds. Glad you made some wise choices Teresa! That event sounds wonderful. I have to admit, I miss the ocean SO much!!

YH - Yes I am eating less than others but unfortunately I have a lot more to lose than the rest of you. Right now, it's jump-starting my weight loss and once I started seeing results on the scale, it motivated me to keep going. I have a hard time eating in the morning too. My dh likes to cook breakfast so I have him cook my protein when he makes his own breakfast at 7 am but I don't actually eat my breakfast till about 9:30.

Here's what I had today:

B-1 hamburger patty, tbs salsa, broccoli, coffee
L-roast, lettuce salad, snow pea pods
D-country-style pork ribs, ranch fiesta vegetable mix, lettuce salad, tbs salsa
S-none so far!! I'm under 900 calories for the day right now and I'd like to keep it that way so hopefully I won't get the munchies later!

Teresa - I get on a routine with my meals sometimes too, usually for breakfast and lunch. I've been trying to cook suppers that give me enough leftovers for the next day's meals, so my menu changes every few days or whenever the leftovers run out
Your menu today looked delicious!

I have two sons of my own and my husband has one son. My oldest is almost 21 and is a junior in college and lives on campus, about 2 hours away. My stepson is 19 and doesn't live with us anymore. My youngest is turning 16 next week and is a sophomore in high school. So we're down to one child living at home now and he's our busiest, very much into sports and academics and extra-curricular activities. We spend a lot of time following him to games and competitions, which we really enjoy doing. But along with that comes eating at concession stands and fast food joints. I hate that wrestling season has ended but it will be better for my diet, that's for sure!

I will say it again...that FitDay.com's free weight loss journal that HB told us about is really helping me keep within my limits. I've shared it with a couple of friends and they think it's awesome too. If you haven't checked it out yet, take a look when you have some time. It's really great for those that are counting carbs, calories, fat, protein, etc. And it tells you how many calories you burn each day too. It's definitely keeping me from reaching for more food!

Good night and good eating everyone! --- Denise

Hi all!

Running like crazy, as usual...just swung by to read the posts, BUT....THIS caught my eye!

YES YES YES!! I LOVE that site!!!! I just planned my afternoon and evening meals from it. I otherwise would've gone WAY over on my carbs today. It helps me take an honest look at what I'm actually doing. No guilt, no "MI CULPA", just a clear look at what I'm doing. It's made all the difference (that and this site) to my success in doing Atkins!

T- I didn't "fudge" my walk today, and it went well. The air was crisper and cooler than it has been, but I'm sure Corrisann would be looking for her bikini and suntan lotion if she were here! We Californians can be such "weather sissies"!

I have the school kids today - these are the NICE ones!!!!! And they mean the big money, too. Because of my weight of over 300 lbs, I was sick (diabetes complications) almost all of last year, and I'm just now getting caught back up on my finances. It was so hard to try to make ends meet on disability, especially my mortgage! But I haven't missed a day of work since I started Atkins. No wonder I am so enthusiastic about this WOE.

Sorry about your job, YH! I thank God every day for my job! Mine is Union, and as long as I show up and do my job, I should be ok for the next 4 yrs. until I retire. (Do I hear a countdown starting?)

That sounds lovely. And peaceful. Nice place to relax. You did good to go for the protein (fats ok too) at the buffet table, and I'm sure a couple of pecans won't slow you down this once. You are doing so great!! Keep it up! You encourage me!!

I go this weekend to my doctor's office to weigh. Please, ALL OF YOU, keep me in your thoughts. I have been SO GOOD, and if I'm still on that damnable PLATEAU...well, let's keep the good thoughts!

Quote:
How many calories and carbs are you taking in everyday?
D- Approx. 1000 (rarely)- up to 2000 calories/day, depending on my hunger - but usually around 1500. My NET CARBS/day are kept between 20-30. Works for me. Especially with the walking for approx. 50 min./day. And the bus driving, which fitday says burns up well over 1200 calories in itself. That plus the "camping out chores" (changing my propane tanks, cleaning and housework, taking out the trash [quite a walk in itself!], and climbing into the back of my pickup to tend to the generator, etc. etc.) and the stair climbing (RV, driver's room, and bus) and the heavy backpack during my walks should up my weight loss some. IT'S GOT TO COME OFF SOMETIME!!!! I'm trying VERY hard NOT to get discouraged!!

I have to get back to work now...take care and Happy Valentine's Day to all!!

HB

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Hope everyone stayed away from the sweets today! If you can believe it, dh gave me candy this morning for my valentine!! I very nicely thanked him for the card and told him the candy was his to keep. He wasn't thinking when he bought it, but we had a good laugh over it. My friend did send me a beautiful bouquet of sunshiney yellow flowers...roses, lilies, chrysanthemums (sp), so at least that was something I could keep and enjoy

Well I had a little scare today. I was looking out my kitchen window and there was a wolf in my backyard! At least I think it was a wolf. Too big to be a coyote and I don't know any neighbor that has a dog that looks like a wolf. I quickly got my dog Hannah inside and called dh at work and he said it probably was a wolf, he thought he heard howling this morning when he was leaving for work. It came back again later but left after a few minutes. I will have to keep a lookout for it tomorrow. Glad it is so cold here that no one is really out and about!

I was really hungry today. I don't know why, I ate more than yesterday.
I ended up with a little over 1200 calories at the end of the day. Not bad but not as good as the last couple of days.

B-hamburger, 1 tbs salsa, spinach, coffee
L-pork ribs, 1 tbs salsa, lettuce, asparagus
D-cabbage rolls (ground beef filling, no rice), canned tomatoes, lettuce, sugar-free jello, cool whip
S-2 pickles, 5 grapes, 3 almonds, 1 oz chicken breast

I had to laugh as I typed 5 grapes and 3 almonds but when I went to that FitDay website and saw how many calories/carbs they each had, I decided to limit it to just a "tasting" without going overboard. I like that the website tells you the carbs for every single thing you eat or drink. I didn't realize that even coffee has carbs! But I am paying closer attention now. Even 2 or 3 carbs matter to me these days!

Wow HB, you get a good workout just going about your normal business, don't you? That is great! Good luck at your weigh-in! How is everyone else doing this week? I'm losing slowly but I'll wait till Saturday to report since that will be a week for me.

Getting kinda quiet in here. Hope you are all busy NOT eating

---Denise

Busy day & nite so I'm just popping in to say hello & am glad to read that things seem to be going well for everyone. My potions are still too big so I know that I'm not getting anywhere re: losing. LC is such a rich & satisfying woe that one really has to be careful of the calorie count at the end of the day. Had trouble w/fitday 3yrs ago, but maybe I'll try it again.
Have a great Fri everyone!!

Well, Corrisann, it doesn't look like you're gaining, either, so that is a major accomplishment in itself! And don't we all know that from our past experience with food!

Denise, you did so well to turn down that candy! I blew it today and had part of a piece of coconut cream pie, I think partly because it was Valentine's Day and we never do anything. But that's not a good excuse... I know...But I think I'm OK because I haven't eaten much else all day, and I'm really hungry tonight. I've got to get myself psyched back into those cheat-free days!

Did you find out if you really had a wolf in your yard? That is really scary! Good thing you got your dog in--what kind of dog do you have? As you can see, I love doggies!

How wonderful to have a son who is athletic and academic, and get to be involved in his activities. But I hear ya about the fast food concessions--looks like you're going to have to take your own snacks to the games!

HB, you are a veritable whirlwind of activity! You are amazing! And doing great on your eating plan. I hope you get good news at the doctor's, but if the scale hasn't budged, I hope you will not be discouraged. You have lost a lot of weight in a short period of time, so your body is probably readjusting. I'm sure with the plan you're on and all the exercise you're doing that you will start losing again, maybe just more slowly. How is your blood sugar doing--any improvement since eating lowcarb?

YH, hope you are still throwing the bagels and such into the round file! How's it been going? TTYL, Teresa

Friday

Quick note - Happy Friday. I have not been doing any exercise this week as I planned-bad girl. I have stayed in my point range tho. Today i have to get diarrhea at work, leave early, and go to a wrinkle study-yes im a finalist to see if I qualify for a free treatment(s) sponsored by johnson and johnson-just what i always wanted to be! The product is called evolence - a wrinkle filler -not available in US yet, FDA pending,....if I am picked by the doctors as they study my wrinkles today they will fly me to Grand Caymen for a few days, all comped, get treatment(s), now i dont know if i will be chosen - thats today- and i dont know if id actually do this......I need it - I cant afford it - but what happens after a yr - does my face go back to now plus one year aging, all questions i will ask the docs today. Its all on the up and up-when i went to my casting call - very professional - 20 pics of my wrinkles taken, then it was you will get a call if doctors think you may be a good candidate-got a call last nite. Well lets see if im picked today . Oh brother....

I hope you had a nice V Day ! My Boyfriend sent me an ecard-thats good enough for me-he works nights-I never see him except for weekends-i am sleeping when he gets home-he is sleeping when i leave.

Thks. for the fit day site - im going to check it out - I miss the amount of meat i can eat - made new york steaks on the grill last nite - looked where i was at point wise - figured i could eat 3oz.- HUH - i loaded the plate with the frozen vegetables and ate abou 4 oz i think -i guess i should buy a food scale but really dont want to deal with it.

How do i post a pic of me off a cd anyone ??

Just wanted to say hi to everyone Hope your Friday is starting off good!

YH - I think if you insert the cd into your drive, it will start up for you and allow you to "save" your picture to "My Pictures" or "My Documents." Then to post it here you will need to go to User Control Panel and Edit My Avitar. Put your picture in as a custom avitar, just remember where you saved it to! Hopefully that will work.

Now about the wrinkles....this sounds so interesting and I don't know that I want to insult you and hope that you have enough wrinkles for them to pick you but I do hope you get chosen! Wow, a trip to Grand Caymen would be heavenly right about now!! So good luck and let us know

T - my dh checked out back last night looking for tracks but wasn't thinking and took Hannah (part black lab) with him and she ran all over and messed the tracks up in the snow so he isn't sure if it's a wolf or not. I am keeping her indoors more today and she is not happy. We live in such a small town with so much wide open space that we don't have leash laws and so she is normally able to run free. It's killing her to stay indoors but I just checked and....the THING is back! I called dh and he told me to take pictures with my digital camera. So here I am knocking on my back window and yelling because the darn thing is laying down and half-hidden by our trampoline. Hannah is barking and getting excited, thinking I am yelling and whistling to her.

Here's a funny little story about living in a small town. My UPS driver told me one day he was at the lumberyard making a delivery when my dog jumped in his truck! I was embarrassed and told him I was sorry. He laughed and said that was okay. He knew who she was and where she lived, so he gave her a ride home! Only in a small town!

Well today is going to be a struggle for me since it's Friday and it's Lent. We don't live anywhere near the ocean so fish is frozen, nothing fresh and boy that is one of the biggest things I miss living out here, especially hearing how much fresh delicious fish you eat, Teresa. So I am going to try to get by with the frozen "grilled" (non-breaded) fish fillets for supper. They are pretty low in carbs. I do have a bag of small shrimp so maybe I will make a shrimp salad for lunch. I think beef or chicken fill me up more than fish, so this will be a hard day for me but it is only one day a week and I will get back to eating my meat tomorrow!

Teresa, I am not really a sweet eater so it was easy to hand back the candy. Now if dh had given me a pepperoni pizza....

Corrisann, I know how hard it is to keep the portions in control when you are watching the carbs and calories of everything you eat. It gets overwhelming at times. I try to fill up on the good stuff, like salads, so that I am not overeating the higher cal foods. And when I eat now, I sit and stare at my plate and concentrate on what I am eating. No more eating in front of the tv or grabbing from the refrig on the run. Maybe try using a smaller plate to "fool" yourself into thinking your portions are big. It's amazing what we can talk ourselves into when it comes to food. I also make sure I fill my plate once with everything I am allowed to eat and that is it. I do not put the platter of food on the table or go back for second helpings anymore and that helps too.

Hope everyone has a happy day! ---Denise

Well it is another cold day in MI but the sun is shining & it is beautiful out!!! DH & I have today together, first in many months due to our crazy happenings since last fall. He wants to drive us out to our favorite nature preserve (yes Denise we have to go somewhere to enjoy nature & we might see some deer & wild turkeys but no wolves....LOL) I'll bundle up & walk in the cold but he won't so I was kind of surprised that this was his first choice for us. I love it though & am happy to go. It's the place my avatar pic is from last fall. The Detroit art museum was closed for a few months last year doing a remodel & bringing out of many pieces that have been in storage for years & that would have been my choice for such a cold day. It's a great museum & gets wonderful exhibits from around the world. We have a membership but I guess he's just in a outdoor mood today.

Teresa that concert & setting sounds wonderful!!!! You get to do some of the neatest things. And HB is making me envious of all the great weather that you guys have!!
Are you keeping up with the exercise?? My hands have been bothering me so bad the last couple days cause I've been on a fresh roll binge...& yes I'm the nut that bought 'em & brought 'em into the house....so I comfort ate myself into misery.....I have to get my eating emotions under control!!! Haven't struggled with this issue so badly in a very long time. Hearing how you all seem to have a grip is encouraging to me!!!!

I would keep my dog in & feel so excited that I had a wolf in the back yard---would not go to work & would be glued to the window w/my camera!!! Guess that gives away the fact that I live in the city huh....lol!!! My brother lives in WY so I hear the other side of it from him as he worries about his horses goats etc outside w/the wolves.

Good luck w/the skin trial Denise! Sounds like quite the interesting experience. Also if you buy good quality frozen fish it's pretty good stuff. That's how I have to buy ours too. Now that I can get the Heinz Catchup made w/Splenda I can even make myself some cocktail sauce for my shrimp. A few shrimp & a piece of fruit is a very satisfying lunch. Frozen salmon & tilapia are great & I make them up all the time. Have lots of fast little recipes for then if you want some.

Everyone's menu are sounding pretty good. HB what great things have you been eating this week?? With all that exercise you must have dropped some more weight!!
I ate good things like chicken & tuna & pink grapefruit & green beans & cucumbers but then kept adding on a roll or two....which is fitting cause I have two big rolls around my middle.... Everyday I get up determined to do good & make it thru 75% of the day on the right track.
My chicken chalupas w/the lc flat bread came out really good. Looked for that combined ck/mush soup HB & couldn't find it. Oh I also made meat loaf this week. That's always an easy one.

Well dh is pacing the floor ready to go so I best hop in the shower quick & slide into my jeans. Have a great Sat everyone!!! Let's eat good so that we are happy campers tomorrow

YES, Corrisann, PLEASE! I LOVE RECIPES!!! Lay 'em on me, especially that bread recipe. And which baking mixes and/or flours are the best? I would so love to be able to bread some things and to thicken gravy the old fashioned way, IF POSSIBLE.

I'm going to TRY to make those Dixie Diner muffin tops (1 carb each) this weekend. I hope they turn out well. Gonna try that Cream Cheese Frosting too. <fingers crossed> I would love something that is similar to a "baked good". Just a little "treat" w/o blowing my carb count.

CHUTZPAH!! I like that in a person!

What happened?? How did coconut cream pie get into your house? Was it in your house? And was it yours? I am in the process of converting my trailer to a place without anything NOT Atkins. Makes it easier to make good food choices when I am noticing my "emotional triggers" and they start to chafe me, urging me to do things NOT in my own best interests. I can guarantee you that if I had a big gooey piece of coconut cream pie sitting on my table last night, singing out its siren song , as tired as I was, and in the anticipation of this apparent reunion my dd and I are about to have this weekend, that sucker never would have seen the light of day!!! Even my Atkins bars were calling me!!! Thank God I opted for the pork chop sitting in my fridge instead. T, I so want to see you back on track again...as you do, too, I hope. My ds LOVES his candy, and Valentine's and Easter are BIG days for him, b/c he goes to the store THE DAY AFTER and LOADS UP on every 50% off candy at our local grocery store! He comes home with bags full of the stuff...AND he, out of respect for me and my WOE, keeps them all tucked away in HIS room, out of sight! I love candy too, but if I'm dead (or worse, footless and blind!!) from diabetes, I don't love it as much. You were doing so well. DH issues and hunger issues are two separate things, unless you have a (poison to me) coconut cream pie sitting there. Then they are one. Is there any way you can DUMP the pie and confront the dh on what's really eating you? Just wondering. I care about you and love it when you have glowing success.

Quote:

There is a book out there called Overcoming Overeating. And it works. BUT it took me about 7 yrs. of practice before I got it right, and I gained 50 lbs. behind it. I ALSO no longer eat compulsively, or should I say that when I do or BEGIN TO, I see it for what it is and address the emotional issues behind it. It made me look at how to SEPARATE HUNGER FROM EMOTIONS, and to recognize food as merely FUEL FOR MY BODY, NOT AS COMFORT. If you think about it, it just makes sense. And the trick is to STOP and RECOGNIZE what, in fact, is REALLY going on.

My dilemma BEFORE I got here to lowcarbfriends and the Atkins WOE was my knowledge that I received from that book no longer allowed me to "feel deprived" by dieting. It is an anti-diet, "love yourself as you are" book, too. So even though I weighed in at a whopping 304.6 lbs and had screaming diabetes (300-400 blood glucose), I couldn't figure out HOW to lose weight w/o feeling "deprived". And, FOR ME, Atkins is IT!!

So I feel very lucky that I'm not going through what some of you are. I have been there and done that, but no more. If my dd coming back into my life is not shoving me over the emotional edge, I'm doing pretty well! (Long story there...another time.) I'm just SO GRATEFUL that I DID find Atkins and that it is working for me. This is something I can stick with. It's easy, and I'm never (physically) hungry. I no longer eat CARBS as FUEL b/c they are the first to "burn" (and give us energy), and so my body is turning to the protein and fat I am eating instead to fuel my body - and it also uses up my fat stores in the process. I can SEE that! My clothes are falling off me! I'm still fat, of course. This will take at least a year before I am "normal" again. And I will have to deal with the wrinkles, but oh well. I'm old anyways!

THIS IS MY WOE FOR LIFE! I have never meant anything so much!! IT'S A GIFT THAT'S BEEN OFFERED TO ME, and I mean to TAKE IT! Sure it takes some discipline, but the alternative (amputation or DEATH) isn't something I want. Bottom line.

I have to go now! My dd will be here in about 2 hours and I still have to fill my propane tank (UGH!), gas the generator, and get a new battery for my truck.

Have a Blessed and SUCCESSFUL weekend!!!

HB

The wonders of fitday!!

One last thing...re: FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal. I am pretty good at doing fitday, so if you have any questions on it, just ask. It's all about math and adding custom foods b/c it isn't just a lc site. I just went through all kinds of changes trying to add in my own CUSTOM homemade coleslaw recipe made with liquid Splenda. (Best coleslaw I've ever made! YUMMY!) But now that I've read the labels, done the math on it and entered it, I have it on my account there to KEEP! That goes for all the recipes and special foods I eat. Everything is meticulously entered in, and then it's easy to retrieve.

On some recipes/foods they only have one cup measurements available, so I just go to my little chart I made up. The trick is if it's not the amount you are using and it's only in cups (or whole servings or whatever), use a decimal and enter it as "0.5 cup" or whatever. Example: you only eat half a hot dog (or avocado or anything), but it only counts "One link per serving". Just enter 0.5 and one serving, hit "save changes", and the PROGRAM will calculate it FOR YOU!! IT ROCKS!!!

Here it is:

16T. = 1 cup
8T. = ½ cup (OR 0.5 cup) <--- that's the trick!
6T. = 1/3 cup (.375)
4T. = ¼ cup (.25)
2T. = 1/8 cup (.125)
1T. = 1/16 cup (.0625)

So...if it says 1 cup of butter, but you only used 2 T. of it and it won't adjust to Tablespoons, just leave it at "cup", but in the amount used catagory change it to .125 and hit Save Changes, and it will calculate it for you. Neat, huh!!

IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO HELPFUL! AND once you have it all entered as to your own special specs, you'll LOVE it too! TRY IT!

DD IS HERE... GOTTA GO!

Woo Hoo!!

Well ladies, I lost 5 lbs this week!! Now I know I won't see that big loss every week but it's the jump-start I needed to keep me going! I even had dh drag out my treadmill and set it up in the livingroom for me. I can't do a lot of walking, with my MS, but every little bit will help, I'm sure!

HB - thank you for those measurement conversions. I have run into that problem a time or two so that will definitely help! I make my cole slaw with Splenda and it's delicious and is a great low carb addition to my meals. I'm wondering if you ever tried the Revolution Rolls that Kathleen used to make all the time? They're Atkins and supposed to be great. I bought the ingredients so I could make some this wkd, just haven't gotten around to it yet. But she used to swear by them. I went back through this board and found her recipe:

"Atkins Diet Revolution Roll
3 eggs -- separated
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
3 tablespoons cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
1 package artificial sweetener
1 dash salt

How To Prepare: Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Separate eggs. Beat the whites with the cream of tartar till stiff peaks form. You can check this by inverting the bowl and if the whites don't slip, it's ready.

In a small bowl stir together the rest of the ingredients. Fold carefully into the whites using a rubber spatula.

Spray Pam on a nonstick cookie sheet. Place the mixture carefully onto the cookie sheet, gently mounding one tbsp. full on top of the other until each "roll" is about 2 inches high. Repeat this until you have 6 piles.

Bake for one hour.

These are excellent to have for hamburger buns, to make into a sandwich. Just put two on top of each other. They are especially good when having sat in a plastic bag for a couple of hours. They resemble slightly squished hambuger buns. (Store in the fridge in a plastic bag with holes so the moisture does not build up.) They're also great as a dinner bun with butter spread on them. (Look for a dessert version of this in the dessert section.)

Carbs per serving - 4g carbs total"

Corrisann - It's YellowHair that's participating in the wrinkle trial, not me. I am so fat right now, I have no wrinkles. But I'm shooting for them!!

The walk in the nature reserve sounds great, but you're right, I can go out my front door and have my own nature reserve The "wolf" turned out to be a very large coyote. He came around again this morning and dh went out with his rifle and fired off a shot. Didn't hit the coyote because it started to move when he saw dh approaching, but the noise was enough to send it running. Hopefully it won't be back! We have several bunny families in our yard and although dh hates when they get in his vegetable garden, I love them and would be so sad if that coyote was coming here for dinner! Never mind that my neighbors have chickens, goats, llamas, burros, horses, you name it, and I would hate to see any of them get attacked.

Corrisann - How do you make your chicken chalupas? Those sound like something I'd like. I had my frozen fish last night. It was just Gorton's grilled pollack fillets but they were only 1 carb and 100 calories each (I had 2) and actually, they were very tasty. I would buy them again. I've never tried tilapia or salmon for that matter, so yes, if you have any recipes, please share, as I've seen those kinds of frozen fish at the stores around here.

I got my Netrition order yesterday. I love those Bran crispbreads. They are a bran cracker about the size of a 1/2 slice of bread, with only 16 calories and 0 net carbs. Love them with a little cream cheese on top. I have just one and it settles my "crunch" craving, and they don't raise my sugars at all. I also bought some low-carb pitas. These are different from the Toufayan kind, which I've had several times. These are Joseph's which are a little thinner than the others but also lower in net carbs, only 4 per pita bread. Can't beat that. I won't eat them all the time because they're so good I could go crazy, but once in awhile it's good to be able to get some kind of bread in me that is not full of carbs. And these are nice to fill with steakums or even scrambled eggs and veggies. That's my downfall....I love bread so much Maybe you need to have some kind of low carb bread on hand Corrisann, even if you keep it in the freezer and just pull out one pita at a time so you don't overdo it. Just to ward off that bread craving.

Yesterday's menu:

B-scrambled eggs with spinach, peppers and onions in a low-carb pita, coffee
L-shrimp salad (shrimp and chopped lettuce mixed with mayo), 1 bran cracker
D-2 unbreaded pollack fillets, lettuce w/2 tbs salsa, asparagus
S-2 pickles, 1 bran cracker w/cream cheese

I came in at just a little over 700 calories, which was amazing but probably because I didn't have any MEAT which was a challenge but I got through it!

Let's all get motivated here You guys have really helped me this past week. So keep checking in and keep up the good work --- Denise

Yeah D

Congratulations D - thats terrific ! Wow, you have a coyote visitor-thats so neat- I love all animals. I wish I had room for a treadmill. I hate walking but dont mind a treadmill

Wrinkle guinia pig appt. - well I went to Miami and now I am in the "possible pile" for the Mar. 7th trip - it could have been the no pile - so i wont find out if i am chosen till the end of the month. On the phone it was your chosen-bring your passport. There were lots of ladies with no wrinkles-young.

You guys sound like such good cooks, right now im trying to figure out how to boil broccoli and bake salmon fillets - I have this ancient Joy of Cooking book......

Today I went to famous gym 2002 - my plan was to go 3xs this week but that did not happen, I am so tired after work - the bag was in the car- but once is better than 0. I walked like a turtle for 1.5 miles - .5 more than last week. Now my neck hurts-go figure. I sat in the steam room for 10 min. and the whirlpool for 15-that was nice.

Hello T - C- and HB

My son had a big fit today because I requested info. on the Marines(he mentioned it once), he has been laying on my couch for over 2yrs- he really yelled at this recruiter- I had no idea they would show up at my place.
