A new day!
Good Morning Ladies
I was so disappointed my Carbquick did not arrive over the weekend! I was so looking forward to it. I was able to get some stock up shopping done and replace some cheese, meat and almonds. The Carbquick is scheduled to arrive today so I hope to test the bread today or tomorrow!I see we have some newcomers that I would like to welcome!! I hope you are able to check in often since I know from experience that I tend to do badly if I don’t check in daily! This weekend is a prime example. I have been off track for about 2 weeks (I think) and I need to really step up to the plate and realize I can’t eat carb food (bread, rice, and potatoes) without craving more! Once I get on the right road I am ok for a while but here lately I can’t seem to find that **** road!! I hope we can be a good support to each other. I think I need to go back to induction (I know I keep saying that) but I need a good jump start again to keep me motivated. Teresa you sound like your mind is in the right place for your trip. I hope you have a wonderful time while you’re away. Corrisann that drop last week seems to have given you the boost you needed!! /![]() Today’s Menu B-Chicken salad/ coffee w/cream-(2 carbs) L-Gumbo-(8-10 carbs) D-Panini sandwich or Pizza on the new “Bread”-(5-8 carbs) S- Almonds-(2 carbs) Till tomorrow, have a food wise day!! Kathleen |

Welcome Slendercate!! Always good to have fresh "faces" on board LOL!!! Stress eating is a big issue for me too, but I have learned lots this time around re myself & this issue---hope these tough learned lessons will help me to keep my weight off this time around!! Being in MI at this point in time means that dh lost his job a couple weeks back....so it's big time stress around here plus I can't keep the kind of food supplies on hand that I'd like....but life is hard more often than not & I am learning that eating does not make it any easier. Actually I am always so frustrated with myself afterwards that it makes the stress situation harder in the long run....
![]() Sorry your baking stuff didn't come Kathleen!! It's always harder to do that kind of cooking after work I find, much easier if you can do it over the weekend. Let us know how the Carbquick is. Read a lot on it, kind of mixed opinions it seems. Even though the recipes on this site have sounded pretty good. Did you get your Dreamfields Lasagna made?? Where are you Leeann?? Did you hear we might get some snowflakes in MI tomorrow?? No sticking or piling up but still flakes floating thru the air.....time to get out the afghans on the sofa & stock up on herbal teas to sip in the evenings. I'm like Teresa & always want to eat when the cooler weather hits. But I have found good teas w/Splenda really seem to help me in the evenings. Love peppermint tea! Today's menu B=lf instant bkft w/splenda made w/2%milk (this is 1 of the non lc items in my menu. have 2 more packets to make up) L=cheese on homemade bread(not lc but hearty healthy bread) D=salad & soup, which is lc I'm hungry but that was the deal I made with myself for having to eat off plan some days (read back a couple pgs if you care to) Tomorrow I should be able to follow lc pretty closely. I prefer to loose w/ lc as it is such a satisfying way of eating, but as Teresa said one can loose using a variety of methods. I will be mature & get thru this snag!! Have to go thru my recipes & compare to my cupboards to set up a birthday meal for a friend this weekend. Planned to do it a few weeks back as they are dear friends of many years. What I had planned I can't do now so must plan again....good thing I like to cook & don't necessarily see this as a disaster. Would really like to do some kind of a great dessert that is legal. Think I will look thru Linda Sue's recipe section. Later gal's corrisann |

I didn't check in this wkd and I sure wish I would have! I was so bad I don't even want to talk about it- but I am starting over once again, it seems like every Monday! I am so upset w/myself. I know that I am never going to lose weight if I don't quit eating the way I'm eating- why do I do this to myself? Will someone please tell me that if I would do low carb the way you are supposed to do it- it would really work?! I even considered starting a plan where they mail you prepacked meals- but what happens when you quit ordering them, then what? So I am going to try this again. I've never stuck with this long enough to see real results I guess. The stick will just start turning purple then I blow it and it all goes down hill from there. Do you guys use the sticks? Does low carb really work? Please someone tell me how it is, so I will wake up and realize I can do this and lose weight. I hate the way I look and feel right now!

Hi ladies thanks for the welcome!
I actually started yesterday, I believe I kept my carbs down to 10 or grams. I am doing this from memory, since I had found the original Atkins book in my moms basement probably 10 years ago, and I did do the diet then, but only stayed on it for 2 or so weeks but I do remember losing some weight, but then again I was not too overweight 10 years ago. So I think today I will have: B: bacon and eggs L: small salad D: chiken breast and green beans And I know I need to get the water in there I really need to work on this ![]() thankyou again for the support.......... I need to work on getting a pic up here of me I havent had any taken for a while for obvious reasons, I get very discusted with myself. |

Wed weigh in time
all time high 249 (243)
start date 6/18/07 today's wgt 233 last week's wgt 232 goal 160 5'6" 53yrs old Carmilla & Leean & Slendercate Wed is our weigh in day. We chose Wed as it was mid week & hopefully not effected by any boo boos over the weekend. Wasn't too shocked at being up a lb this week. Did such a big drop last week that I thought it might even out this week. But I did have 2 days where I was eating in bites all day around my goofy schedule & that might have done me in too. And yes lc does work! And with many very rich wonderful foods, not the tasteless crap you order thru the mail. It's real food that you can eat the rest of your life which means the weight will stay off. No one on the planet can eat stupid for years & not have it catch up with them, so we are never going to be able to have all the deep dish pizza we want with a big bowl of ice cream for dessert & think we are not going to be fat. It's impossible so just face up to that fact now & get on with your life. I spent all summer working real hard at coming to grips with a lot of these thoughts trying to get the brain/emotions side of eating straightened out so that I could then get on with the weight losing end of it. We all know that if we don't get the 2 worked out we will never succeed! I am 53 and don't want to try & reloose the weight one more time.....just don't have the energy to do that. Which scares me cause I don't want to weigh 350 at the age of 60...... So I hope you feel encouraged thru this tierade not lectured at---I just so badly want to see all of us succeed this time!!!! Want us to be sharing maintenance tips 2yrs from now not crying that we are starting all over! Camilla I hate that feeling that food rules my life too, & fought it for quite awhile.....but I was only fooling myself as it does. Even if I'm not giving it lots of time straightening out bad habits it rules cause I am not comfortable where I'm at weight wise & am eating what I should not. Then it's ruling me poorly---would like it to rule me wisely so I can be healthy & fit & feel wonderful!! Looking better is a plus too of course...LOL!!! Hope you get what I'm trying to say. Kathleen & I both will say that variety is really important. Not just cheese & eggs till you could vomit!! LOL!!! Even in induction there are a lot of choices. Use them all!! I don't use the sticks but I made sure that I did take the time to read the Atkins book again to refresh how it all works in my body and what to do. Get the book from the library if you have too. I did as I'd lent my copy to someone when I lost weight doing this in '04 & never got it back. Course I wasn't going to put the weight back on so why did I need to make sure I got the book back....& the rest, as they say, is history ![]() And Teresa is off on vacation testing out the new rules she hopes she has put into place by now....LOL!!! I hope she's having a grand time relaxing & soaking in the sun!! Kathleen has your Carbquick come yet?? Was wondering about some of those yummy things you were going to try making. Well this has turned into a whole chapter so I best get a move on & get some things done before it's time to go to work. Hope you all have a decent weigh in day!! corrisann |

Wed's menu
B=omelette made with veggies & cheese that are left in fridg L=tuna/egg salad S=lc protein bar D=shrimp w/ broccoli Today is my long shift & I'm not home till around 8pm so I'm trying to make what I'm eating be high protein so I feel full & not famished when I walk in the door & still have to fix my shrimp & veggie. The rest has to be portable & tasty eaten in the car while driving from one clients to the next. Have to stay away from those drive thrus.....LOL!!! This is when I miss my ounce of nuts--they are so satisfying & easy to crunch in the car. |

Good morning ladies,
I hope your weigh-in goes better than mine! I gained this week and I actually know why…..I ate off plan! I do know better but stress and family has got the best of me. I have to remember I am doing this for me, for my health and to look in the mirror and feel good about myself! So I really need to stop caving in and eating whatever! It has been especially hard since my dh stopped working off shore. All he wants is the good old meat and potatoes and snacks, my daughter is now here with my grandson and of course they eat everything and it goes on and on. I need to get a grip! I did finally receive my Carbquick and I did make some new bread (came out really well) so today I start again. We are going out for dinner tonight for steak so I hope to do ok. I can’t believe at this late in the game I am posting this big a gain! Today’ stats All time high (2007) - 273 Start date June 18, '07 - 273 Last Wednesday (10/31) – 255.06 Today – 260 Goal - 175 to start Height - 5'7 Age – 51 I didn’t get to make the lasagna over the weekend. We lost a dear lodge member so most of the weekend was spent cooking and caring for the family from out of town. I am going to mix things up this weekend! I have to get out of this rut!! Trouble is I am just like the new folks, thinking about food all the time. I am only hoping to get my home life back in order so I can get back to what was becoming normal for me!! This LC way of life does work! There are a lot of great recopies and food you can eat. Check out the recipe forum low carb recipe help and suggestions, I personally have learned a lot from there about different ingredients and ways to use not only special things but everyday stuff like cheese. The bread I made used cream cheese and 3 blend Italian! I have made enchiladas from egg crepes and rev. rolls from ricotta cheese. Take the time to look and check out all the great ideas! not only do they taste good , but they are good for this lifestlye! Cheers to a good day! Kathleen |

Hello ladies! Sounds like we all could have done better last week. But this is a new week!!
You'll have to support each other w/o me over the next few days I'm thinking. Am working several days of 12hr shifts & I won't have time or will be too pooped to be sitting at the computer after work. The good thing is I will pack my food for lunch & dinner & take a snack and there will be no cheating as I'll be in someone else's home. Forced control..... I really like the lunch meat/cheese "sandwiches" w/mustard too Camilla! Like to vary the kinds of mustards to enhance the different kinds of cheeses. Will be interested to try some of those bread items Kathleen. Maybe I can order some of the CarbQuick with the extra hours. The bills will dictate that...LOL!!! Ok I need to get off & eat dinner & get everything ready for tomorrow morning as it's my first 12hr day. corrisann |

Also wanted to tell that I had a client today (before my regular Wed client) that I took to her dr's appt. She must have weighed 350lbs....she had such a hard time walking & was talking about having COPD and I'm thinking she's just killing herself. She was such a nice lady & I felt bad for her but it scared me too cause that could very easily be me in 5 more years if I don't get my act together. The last thing she had me do before I took her back home was stop at Stone Cold Creamery & get her a pint of ice cream....do you have these ice cream stores in your areas??
Anyway we don't want to weigh that much & have to use oxygen to help us breathe do we girls????? Don't kid yourselves that it couldn't happen to you cause it sure as heck can!! |

Good afternoon Ladies,
I am again on my way to success! Today is the start of a new week and after last weeks disaster and Corrisann’s patient report I have decided to get and stay focused toward the future. I cannot change the past but I can control the future. I want to see and play with my grandchildren for a long time to come and Corrisann is correct, it could be any of us. Everyday is not going to be perfect but everyday doesn’t have to be a disaster either. Thanks for the after thought Corrisann. Today’s Menu B-Ham and cheese w/mayo on a section of artesian bread (one I made) 2 carb Coffee w/cream L-Steak and mushrooms and lettuce w/ ranch dressing , diet soda 6 carbs D-Pork chops and salad or stir fry veggies- water 6-8 carbs S-almonds-2 carbs Have a great day ! |

Fast hello here gal's!! Today is another 12hr day & of course with driving time that means 13-14hrs gone from home depending on the traffic.
Yesterday went well during the day just like I said it would with being gone all day. But then ate a couple things I shouldn't have when I got home, & then went to bed on it....so I'm gonna have to get a handle on that for sure. Kathleen it was a good wake call for me too!! Never ever thought I'd weigh almost 250lbs.....so I can see how one could easily weigh 350 slapping their forehead & saying how the heck did I get here??? We're all just too human to say we're above those failings. Am having some friends over for a birthday dinner tomorrow. Between the big budget cut & not having a minute to look thru my recipes to plan a special meal I'm feeling pressed as to what I'm going to do...... Well it's time to get dressed & head out the door. Kathleen have you had anytime to job search with all the crazy family happenings?? corrisann |

TGIF
Thank goodness the weekend is comming soon! I am really ready for it this week. My youngest DD just closed on her new house today and I am so proud of her. She is only 18 and the son in law just 23 so we are celebrating tonight! Tomorrow is gonna be hard due to a bunch of us are going to a great mexican food place to celebrate sisterhood! So I hope to eat some snapper vera cruz or shrimp terasco and a nice salad.........stay away fron the chips and just remember I am there for the company not to pig out!! Corrisann you sound like you are doing a very long week this week.........are you ready for a day off? I hope your dinner party goes well! Let us know what you end up making. This is a 3 day weekend for me and I am so looking forward to it! I have started looking for work, nothing final yet but some good leads. My DH is going back to work next week so that takes the heat off a little. It should also be easier for me cooking since he will be working nights. Camilla you sound like you have a fun and non couch potato weekend planned. I hope we all do well and remember why it is we are doing this. For US! Today's Menu B-Frajita taco on low carb tortilla w/cheese , coffee w/ cream 5 carbs L-hot wings, salad w/dressing and broccolli - diet pepsi -10 carbs D-not sure but I am sure to have some type of meat and a salad or veggie S-almonds-2 carbs I am going to cook up a few items while I have a few days off. I have been looking at the recipies for the Quickcarb stuff and there is all kinds of goodies to make! Cookies, pies, cake, bread, muffins, you name it! I'll report how it goes.............. Till Later, Kathleen |

Hi, All--
I'm back from Sedona. It was beautiful, but the eating did not go according to plan. Does it ever? I ate all kinds of stuff I shouldn't have, like bread, pizza, dessert. I'm surprised my weight is only up 2 lbs., but worse are the measurements. I was losing more in inches on low carb than lbs. and it really shows back up when you start eating carbs again! ![]() So trying to get back on induction today. Sounds like everyone had their challenges this past week! But everybody's getting back on program, right? You are so right, Corrisann, if we don't keep up this battle, we'll be slapping our foreheads and asking ourselves how did we get here? Congratulations, Kathleen, for your dd's new house! Is it near where you live? Camilla, hope you did get to the gym this weekend, and were able to stay on induction. It is hard when you're first beginning, but it really does work if you keep your carbs under 20. Hang in there! B - 2 eggs scrambled w/half & half and cream cheese, tea w/cream 2 carbs L - salad, 2 enchiladas (no tortillas) 10 carbs D - roast chicken, 1 c. green beans 6 carbs S - almonds, cream cheese 2 carbs Total carbs - 20 |

Well this wkd wasnt as bad as the last. I did however eat a piece of cake and a few other things I should not have- but I am back on track now! This wkd we couldnt make it to the gym so we set up our jackball set outside and played that for a couple of hours instead- it was fun and a little bit of a workout because you have to walk back and forth- kind of like horseshoes. It was fun!
Teresa- glad you made if back safely and not with alot more extra baggage!lol It's hard when your away from home for awhile to stay on track- but sounds like you could have been alot worse than you were so good job! B- Sausage & cheese stick (running low on groceries!lol) L- Meatballs w/ shredded cheese D- Salad S- Celery sticks w/ pimento cheese Have a good monday! If thats possible! ![]() |

Good Morning Ladies,
This 3 day weekend was wonderful except for the terrible cheats!! When am I going to get it together???? Well I am back again starting over!! Teresa sounds like your trip went well and the extra baggage could have been worst as Camilla put it! My daughters house is only a couple of miles from mine (2-1/2?). Very close if I think about it long enough! But a very nice small brick , 3 br-2 bath with a double car garage and only 3 years old! All of her appliances are large and wonderful! She even got a home warranty, so I feel she did well. I didn't realize the time and have to run to work, I will catch up more in a little while. Kathleen |

Good morning, Gals--
Well, I guess we are all recovering after a 3-day weekend! Kathleen, we will get it together--if we didn't keep trying, imagine how fast we'd be gaining it all back! Your dd's house sounds exciting! Is your other daughter still living with you? How are those 12-hour days going for you, Corrisann? You must be pretty tired, but glad to have the extra work? Did you manage to stay low carb yesterday, Camilla? I did pretty well. but this morning went out for pancakes, something I haven't done for a couple of years. It was just such a beautiful morning here, I wanted to get out of the house and had a craving...uh oh...but I didn't really overeat, and we went for a walk afterwards. So I'm planning to eat light the rest of the day. Hope you all are having a great day! Cheers, Teresa B - pancakes, 2 egg yolks L - salad, cold cuts D - chicken, green beans S - almonds, cr ch |

I do have a really good menu today, so that helps!! Teresa- you are not kidding about the inches comming back fast! I feel so uncomfortable in these new jeans that I have been wearing........but I will take it off, It is not worth feeling this miserble both at myself and at my body!! My daughter is still with us, the boyfriend went on down the road so to speak................I don't know if I will ever get rid of her.................. Corrisann I know you are working long hours but don't forget to check in!! Hope you are doing well. Camilla do you have any kids that you have to cook for at home? I was doing much better before I was worried if they ate or not! And you guys remember me saying they were going to be on thier own! Well for some reason I can't do that.....I guess it is all those years of caring for them, I just can't stop now. Maybe I should though.......... Well tomorrow will be another day closer and I have to get a handle on this. It is only going to get worst with the holidays. We told each other it was ok if we stayed the same but we don't want to weigh more on Jan 1st than we did on Nov 1st Ha Ha talk to ya''ll later Kathleen |

Weigh-in day!
Good Morning, ![]() Hope everyone shows a little improvement over last week! I did ok but have to work harder. I did very well yesterday. No cheats and no almonds. Two more days and I should not be craving the carbs like I am today already. At least I have the experience of knowing the cravings will go away soon. Corrisann you are way too busy! Those are very long hours and I am glad you are strong enough not to pull into the first hamburger joint and grab and go. This only proves to me proper planning is the key unless we are able to spend a fortune on eating steaks and salad out! Like we could do that! I only plan on eating lunch out on payday as a treat or on the rare occasion my DH decides to take me out for dinner. The gal in the office and I plan for a lunch out every other Friday. Teresa I still don’t know how you do it every day! That would be torture to me, I just like the good stuff to much! Camilla your menu looks like you eat at home too. How did you end up this week? Well here are my stats;Today’ stats All time high (2007) - 273 Start date June 18, '07 - 273 Last Wednesday (10/31) – 260 Today – 256 Goal - 175 to start Height - 5'7 Age – 51 Before you start with the yahoo’s remember I am still 3 lbs off from my 20 lbs lost! A simple good job will do. The last few weeks really caught up with me bad and it wasn’t all water weight! It was true poundage! Th |
