Finally Friday

Good Morning
I hope all is going well for everyone. TGIF!! We are doing the Halloween Carnival tonight and I hope I can stay away from all the goodies! I hope to eat something sustaining before I go so I won’t be tempted. This weekend is a good time to look up different menu ideas for the cool weather season. I think the taco soup would be a good one for that comfort food thing! Also saw a thread on a different type of bread I may try. It calls for Carbquick so I guess I will have to order………..but just think I could make stuffing!!! I will let you know how it turns out. I made a roast beef sandwich for breakfast this morning and I thought of you guys and wondered how do you get by without the bread stuff? I am so thankful to this site for all the recipes! It seems like I don’t get to try as many as before since going to work, but I am always looking! Well I better run since I am at work!! Talk to you guys over the weekend (I promise)

Today’s Menu
B- Roast beef sandwich w/mayo on Rev. Roll
Coffee w/ cream
L-Sausage and Eggplant Parm.
D-Don’t know yet…….eek!
S-cheese

Hey, Gals--

Oh, Halloween carnivals are so much fun, Kathleen! I just love this time of year, and actually decorated my house a bit (which I rarely do) because I so love the Fall. The trees have turned color early this year, and although we don't have fall color to the extent you have in the midwest, Corrisann, we do have some maples that turn red and poplars and sycamores and others that turn yellow. I got a couple of cute corn husk dolls, a little girl to greet you at the front door, and a little guy that sits on the fireplace in the living room, plus a leafy fall centerpiece. Now I gotta get some punkins to go with em!

I really try to stay away from bread as much as possible, Kathleen, although I had a little sourdough french bread yesterday. Once I start, I can't stop, so I don't even want to try a substitute! Did you get tired of the revolution rolls? Let us know how the new recipe tastes.

I want to try to get back to induction, because I am pretty stalled now, but it's been so hard--no will power! At least I'm not gaining. I'm going to try to eat clean today. But we have nothing much in the fridge for dinner, and I'm afraid dh will want to go out. I've got a couple of cheddarwurst sausages, which I'd gladly stay home and eat, but dh won't have them! T.

oh my goodness

Well Kathleen what a challenge the carnival will be....good luck girl!!! They are fun but such temptation! My Fri client is still in rehab so I was free today & rode out into the country with a friend to visit her mil. Saw more color than I did all the way to New Brunswick. Her baby is 9mos & also so good that any time with them is a delight. Needed that today.
I am doing what you said Teresa---writing what I'm eating. It's kind of all over the place so I really need to hold myself accountable for all crumbs that pass my lips. I have eggs/sour cream/different cheeses & I want to make a nice baked omelette or fritatta. Need to look thru the recipes here I guess. Tonight I made a baked cauliflower dish that is a favorite of dh's over the years & was legal for me. With apple slices.
I have a chili recipe Kathleen from when I did lc before. I liked it cause it was so thick, dh's I added beans to. If you are doing South Beach the beans would be ok. I'm just doing what I can. Ya know some years just roll by so nicely & others are a challenge & this seems to be one of the latter. So no whining like when we were struggling this summer I will just do whatever & will use your support to get me thru.
Well I am off to check thru the receipe section. Enjoy your weekends!!

Lazy Saturday

Hi Gals,
The carnival went well and I only had 2 pieces of candy corn! Not bad........ The kids looked so cute all dressed up! We did not have as big a turnout as in the past due to other events around town, but we still did well. Tomorrow I cook breakfast again. It seems like this month has flown by.
How cute your house must look Teresa. I never have been big on decorating except for Christmas. Then I go all out with lights and stuff inside and out! Corrisann there is a cauliflower recipe I tried last week that was surprisingly good. It is cream , cooked cauliflower well drained and butter. I used my mixer and creamed it and it was really good. It only called for a little cream (2TBL) I put a little chicken gravy on top and it tasted like mashed potatoes!
I still like my rev. rolls but want to try some of the others. The one I ordered the carbquick for is artesian bread that they say is good for sandwiches (Panini) and pizza. I have to find a really good crust! I was slow at work Friday afternoon and looked at recipes and found all kinds of stuff to try. Mini cheesecake and garlic cheese bread that uses pumpkin! The recipes are very creative!
Well I am off to fix dinner, my dd with the 2 kids are coming to join (terrorize) us tonight!

Today’s Menu
B-Roast beef on rev roll with mayo, coffee w/cream
L-Pho soup w/Dreamfields pasta, chicken and shrimp
D-Bacon wrapped shrimp and green beans w/ mushrooms
S-crab salad (homemade with mayo, celery onion and old bay seasoning)

Till later, Kathleen

great job

2 candy corns---that is wonderful Kathleen!!! I'd say we are getting the hang of this being in control of our lives!!!
Glad to hear the kids will be over to entertain you this weekend....LOL!!! Seems like I heard the same thing before about turnips?? Steam till very soft & then beat em like you would potates & then mix in butter sour cream whatever you would do to your mashed taters. Sounds good but I've never had turnips before. Ever try it? Don't want to burn us out on califlower. I did get to the recipe section & found a great basic quiche recipe that I can add whatever to. It baked up so nice! We had a small bowl of citrus salad & a slice of bread I baked early today. It was satisfying. Am working real hard at keeping my calories low to compensate for having to eat things that are not low carb. But as Teresa said people loose wgt on all kinds of programs. & I know that 3 orange & 3 grapefruit slices is not going to make me fat. Also a slice of good quality bread is not a issue, it just has to stay 1 slice. Can't do the lc stuff as it's too iffy about the outcome & dh wouldn't eat most of it I'm sure and I don't have ingredients to be making both. So I am making the extra effort to wait until I'm hungry to eat. Just wait for that tummy to growl. Hoping that compenses. Actually it's interesting to see how long you go before the ole tummy growls....wow we are really over eating I think, even of the correct stuff. I'm going to look at casserole kind of dishes that will take us a few meals by adding a veggie or fruit. Or homemade soup is good. Need to look back a few pages & see some of the soup recipes you gave us Kathleen. Cheddarwurst sausages....yum!! That would do me just fine Teresa!!
We had a quiet relaxing day--spent a couple hours at the library in front of their fireplace reading. We have a nice fireplace but are out of wood. Plus being a single floor house the chimney only draws good enough for a small fire---dh likes to build big viking style fires so he finds it hard to reign it in & keep it small enough...LOL!!! With the way gas prices have went up I am glad we didn't go ahead & have it converted over to a gas log unit. Ok enough yapping on my part.

Wow, you guys are really doing great! That's amazing to have only had 2 candy corns while surrounded by all the Halloween goodies, Kathleen! I love those, too, but I couldn't possibly eat only two!

Your recipes sound delicious as usual--did the cheesecake recipe use pumpkin as well? I love pumpkin cheesecake! I've been eating everything pumpkin these days--unfortunately I had pumpkin tart today, altho I did not eat the crust, so hopefully it wasn't that bad.

Corrisann, you're doing so well to keep your calories low, and wait til you are hungry to eat. If you can do that now, you've established what you have to control on maintenance, which is where people on lc start regaining because they haven't learned to control carbs. And I'm quite sure you can lose on a diet that includes carbs as long as you don't overeat.

I'm still struggling with trying not to eat sweets--just have such a craving, and even tho I got the lc treats. I just can't resist temptation when I see those goodies! At least I'm not gaining. I think probably because I've been exercising steadily, going to the gym 3 times a week, and riding the bike every night after dinner. Oh well, I'm not giving up; one of these days I'll get a clean day!

Hope the rest of your weekend is nice! T.

can't believe it

My client pointed out today that this Thurs is Nov 1st!!!!!
How the heck did that happen??? LOL!!! Girls we just can't mess up now as those holidays are almost upon us!!
I'll look thru my recipes for a pumpkin pie or custard that I made last year Teresa. Was good with the Rhedi Whip on it. Now that we have splenda to bake with much of those kind of items cook up pretty well. Maybe this would get you over that pumpkin phase you're in. You just have to keep up with those trips to the gym!! If the weather cooperates tomorrow I'm going to get dh to go for a walk with me. He needs to get out of the house for a bit too. Course he haunts the phone waiting for job calls.

I did good with my food yesterday & have done so today.
B=quiche
L=tuna egg salad
S=RS lc mint patty
D=salmon & veggie
So today should be fine. Am pretty hungry so I may have an apple to keep my stomach from driving me to something stupid. Keep thinking of the couple skinny friends of mine that say things like I was too busy to eat/I ordered a 6" sandwich at Subway & had to share it with my mom cause it was just too much.....these are their real comments not joking remarks, you must have friends like that too. Anyway I will eventually shrink my stomach down that far!!!! We just have to keep the faith girls!!!
Well that's my rah rah speech

Your menu sounds so good, Corrisann. I have never tried a combo tuna egg salad, but like both, so that sounds really yummy. You are doing so well cutting down on the amounts you've been eating; I bet you'll be happy this weigh-in.

Was the weather good enough for a nice walk? I went to the gym today, so I at least got that in. Am running around this week getting things ready for our annual trip to Sedona, Arizona to see the fall color in Oak Creek Canyon and just be in the Red Rock country. It's probably my favorite place to go. Eating there usually goes pretty well because one of the places we stay has a light cuisine menu, and dh and I make a commitment to eat the light food most of the time. We're leaving Monday and will be gone for 1 week. Then we'll only be home a week and we drive to Palm Springs to stay for a month. We did it last year and had a nice time. At least I'll have my laptop down there and will still be able to check in with you guys. And it's a real challenge to not gain weight down there with all the great tourist restaurants!

And you're so right, Corrisann, the holidays are fast approaching and we have to be prepared! I should try to make something pumpkin using splenda, cause I'm still on a pumpkin binge--had pumpkin cheesecake today! But at least I only ate half of it.

Did you have fun with the kids, Kathleen? Maybe running around after them helps keep the weight off!

Tuesday Blues

I wrote yesterday and could not get it to post, so I saved it and will post again later from work! Oh Teresa I loved Sedona, AZ too! I was only there once about 25 years ago and stayed for a week. We were traveling cross country (me and 2 Girlfriends) and we came across that area and loved it!! We camped outside of town by a creek for a week until some man told us we couldn't just stay out in the woods without permission!! So we moved on.......It was just so beautiful there. How lucky you are that you can go back every year!
Well I am not feeling so bloated today and hope I am on the road to recovery! I should not forget to take my meds like that because it does make a difference in how we feel. I am down 3 lbs this morning from yesterday. Thank goodness it is just water weight. I was freaking out yesterday!
Corrisann I think we should just skip the holidays this year.........but I don't think they will let us! I am with you......where did the month go???
Seems like it was Memorial Day not too far back.............We can get through this. We just don't want to eat through it!

Today's Menu
not a clue
I'll get back too you on that!

found the secret

all time high 249 (243)
start date 6/18/07
today's wgt 232
last week's wgt 237
goal 160
5'6" 53yrs old

Well gals I guess I found the secret, the one none of us want to hear....LOL!!! Yup, taking enough time between eating to let your body burn up what you'd ate sure did the trick. Been sooo looonnnggg since I'd let my tummy growl I didn't recognize the sound the first time

Don't you just hate it when you type it all up & it's a no go Kathleen!!!! The part about your missed med's must have been in that portion cause I don't know what you were talking about but I am glad that you are feeling better!

Teresa such activity & just before the holidays.....oh my are you going to have to reach way deep down inside of you & grab onto that self control lever & hang on for dear life!!!! But we know you can do it!! Just pack all those smaller size pants you were talking about & look at yourself good in the mirror before you head out to each meal. Is that Palm Springs FL?? Wasn't sure if there is a Palm Springs CA or some other place. Have hear about the beauty of the Sedona area. You will probably get better color than we got on our trip. The weather has still been being very nice here, what is the deal with the weather patterns anymore???? I like the sunny low 60's but it's just not right & I can't get my mind around the fact that tomorrow is Nov1st

Well I need to get a move on as I have to leave for work soon. Got some sub hours with other clients to fill in the gap around one of my regulars that is in the nursing home doing rehab. Hope your weigh ins today treated you well! And if not we need to see you in here anyway just cause

Holy Tamales, Corrisann--5lbs. in one week!!! That's just phenomenal! You are so right--we don't want to hear that we have to kinda go hungry in order to get the job done.

And this with your eating carbs this week, too! Just goes to show any diet can get the job done if you don't over eat!

I messed up bad last night and ate bread and butter for dinner, and had pie after. (We ate out again.) So my weight is up, of course. I have not made any progress this month. I've got to get over this!

So, trying again today to get back to induction. One day at a time, I guess...

Kathleen, we do wonder what being off your meds is all about--hope your health is good, and that you are doing well! I've lost posts, too, and it's always been when I was in the middle of typing one and then tried to go back and refer to the posts I had been reading. Anyway, we are interested in what happened!

All Time High - 175
Start - 170
Last week - 152 1/2
Today - 154
Goal - 125
5' 2" Age 58

B - 2 bacon, egg yolk
L - salad, carne asada
D - ???
S - almonds, cr ch, lc choc

Well it's a new week Teresa--lets just put that bread & pie behind you--& I don't mean that literally

Welcome Camilla!! The more support the better! We've slowly been losing & learning about eating/our lives as we go. So we're hoping to be able to keep it off when we finally do get to our goals. Get rid of it while it's just 20!!! I remember when I went from 155 to 175 & just couldn't believe that I weighed so much....LOL!!! Wish I'd gotten it under control then! Let us know a little about you.

Hey Ms Kathleen where are you??

Well I just got in from work so I'm off to have my dinner.
Salmon & salad.

Hey Everyone!

Currently I am 175 lbs and I am just not comfortable with that. I am most comfortable around 155- so that is my goal for now. I am going to try my best and see what happens. I am alone on this journey, neither my family nor my boyfriend are doing this with me, so it would be great if I could check in with you ladies to keep me going strong. It sounds like all of you are doing good so far. Great Job!!! Im going to need all the help I can get! I am a nanny so I spend most of my day taking care of a 7 month old- which helps keep me moving! This past summer I basically did nothing but hang out- and there always seemed to be some type of party going on which always involved food (especially desserts) which are my down fall! So I put on about 15 lbs. I cant stand not fitting into the clothes I used to so I have got to get this off before next summer!

Ive read up above where you made a pumpkin dessert last holiday season. I have done the same- a pumkin pudding I guess is how you would describe it (basically a pumpkin pie w/o the crust and sugar!) It was really good though- I use real whipped cream (0 carbs) you can buy it in a can now and it tastes good. I love baking, which is not really a good thing on this low carb diet, but I am trying to modify things so I can still do the things I enjoy. I would love to know your custard recipe Corrisann! If I really need something sweet I turn to sugar free jello and whipped cream-it satifies my sweet tooth and cost me 0 carbs!

Im getting kind of worried about the wkd coming up-I do so good mon thru fri- then sat and sun come and I just eat everything in sight! Im going to really try hard not to get out of control, and I will check in during the wkd, I think that will help keep me on track. Im so glad I found this web site and you ladies- I need support its just too hard on your own! So I would like to thank you in advance for helping me get my unwanted weight off!!!

Welcome, Camilla--

Yeah, weekends are everyone's downfall. I wish I had something to tell you that would be like magic, but I'm afraid it's just about sticking to your plan like it's any other day. We go out to eat a lot, and I just have to tell them no bread, no croutons, no chips, etc. If they're not on the table it's so much easier. But my dh eats all that stuff, and it sounds like your boyfriend does, too. I push the bread across the table to his side and tell him to keep it away from me! If you go to a lot of parties, you may need to bring your own acceptible snacks, like veggies and dip, meat, almonds, cheese, low carb chocolate. When you think about it, there are a lot of foods you can eat at parties; you just have to keep your fingers off the chips and bread and baked goodies!

It helps to plan your day's menu ahead of time, that's why we try to do it here, altho we don't always get around to it. Are you going on induction and counting carbs; what is your food plan? Good luck, and nice to have you with us! Teresa

B - sausage, egg yolk
L - Salad, two enchiladas w/o tortillas
D - eating out - maybe fish and nonstarcy vegs
S - almonds, cr ch, lc choc

THIS IS FROM MONDAY I THINK!!

Well I need a rah rah speech Corrisann! I weighed this morning and I am up 6 yes you read right 6 lbs!! I can’t believe it. I was bad last weekend and good this one and this is how I am rewarded!!!! Maybe it is water since I didn’t take my blood pressure medicine this weekend….one can only hope. I was sure to take it today.
I had a pretty good weekend, Breakfast at the lodge was a little slow, but we have had an extra busy month so I think folks are just tired. I am really enjoying this cooler weather we are having except a salad a lunch just doesn’t cut it. I am with you about those friends that say I was too busy to eat….how can they do that??????? Not m,e I am first to notice its breakfast, lunch or dinner time! Good thing we are all not living close or we would be eating all the time and Teresa would have us all craving sweets!
Today’s Menu
B-Sausage patties, coffee w/cream
L-Gumbo
D-Dreamfields pasta and meat sauce, salad and dressing
S- Chicken fajita pieces, almonds

Is it the weather change about wanting more food?? It seems like I didn’t crave as much and felt fuller during the summer.

Finally!!

I have been trying to post all week and now it's ok again!! I wanted to do the weigh in yesterday but I could not get this site to work. I don't know why I wanted to post I didn't loose a thing except a week! But I did gain .06! This has been a very stressful month and if it keeps going the way it has been I will be sure to gain more next week!! My will power is not what it was when we started. But I am still hanging in there. It also was my TOM so that is why I was up so much. Thank goodness it fell back off!

Today’ stats
All time high (2007) - 273
Start date June 18, '07 - 273
Last Wednesday (10/24) – 255.00
Today – 255.06
Goal - 175 to start
Height - 5'7
Age – 51

Todays menu

L-Hunan shrimp and chicken with veggies (rice + eggroll) could not refuse it

good morning

Fast note before I'm out the door to work. Nibbled too much over the last 2 days cause I was busy & didn't get any dishes made & in the fridg. Today is a 9hour day so won't get it done today either. But am off tomorrow & will get somethings in the fridg. A bite at a time here & there all day long left me feeling bloated--don't know if I actually overate or not. That's not good either, too easy to stray way over the line doing that.
Camilla your menu looks good. Get something definite on your plan for the weekend, that will keep you on track. Have your jello made! LOL!!
Glad your messages came thru finally Kathleen. Were you up 6lbs or .06 of a lb?? Your numbers confused me. Hope it was only .06!! If it's bloat it will pass. I agree it is too cold for salads anymore. Now we're into warm comfort foods & lc menus are good at that!!
I hope to have the time to find a couple recipes tomorrow & get them posted.
Later girls--
corrisann

Hello ladies,

I hope this weekend will allow me to get it together. I am all over the place. I ate bad yesterday (rice and egg rolls) then last night I had Subway! I am waiting for the new “flour” Carbquick to come in so I haven’t made any bread all week and it really has screwed me up. Plus my lack of not caring is not helping things. I will get it together soon………Today is already not going well…………I feel like I am falling off the wagon so bad…….. Talking to you guys is helping because at least I am accountable. Maybe I need to start fresh like Camilla……..I vowed to make some good stuff this weekend and I promise to let you know what and how it turns out.(chicken and dumplings , if I get that Carbquick) maybe some Dreamfields lasagna is in order! Any way I feel better getting it ou
