Hellllloooooo ladies
Well ladies I am so sorry for not posting sooner!
I don’t have much me time these days and I really need it!! I have been doing so bad all week. I am finding it sooo hard to stay on track. We have way too many choices in the fridge and cabinets since the kids came! I just can’t stop. I feel so bad but I know I have to get a handle on this or I will be right back where I started. Yesterday I started out well, we made taquitos (tortillas with eggs and meat) and I had mine on low carb, and then we did an early dinner around 3:30 and made bacon wrapped shrimp, grilled snapper and fried shrimp. We had corn on the cob and rice and salad and sautéed mushrooms. I know it was a “big” dinner but we were trying to accommodate for everyone. I did not eat the rice or corn. But I had to have some of the fried shrimp. Because it was there! Those are the temptations I did not have to deal with when the kids were not here and it is killing me…… I ended the day with some carb smart ice cream and had almonds for a snack earlier. I can’t tell them to go low carb, and they understand what I am doing but then they are eating the leftover meat (which is what I fall back on) and I can’t tell them no but……………I want to!! Today is my grand daughter’s birthday and we are going to a party at the park. It is a 2 year olds party and they are having nacho cheese and chips, hotdogs and Frito pie! The hot dogs are ok, not the greatest (no kraut) but I hope to eat BEFORE I go so as not to cheat! Well I could go on and on but I have got to go to the store to help with the party. By the way, my DH’s daughter moved back this week too since her roommate took the electric bill money she had given her to pay the bill and spent it on her Kids! Isn’t life grand? Today’s Menu B-bacon and eggs, coffee w/cream L- Pork chops and salad D-taco salad S-almonds and sf jello By the way I wanted to give everybody big for doing so well this week. The exercise and staying on track is going to be rewarded on Wednesday! And also back Gramma. Hang in there girls ![]() Kathleen-determined to post more since it keeps me on a better track! |

Sunday afternoon
Wow, Kathleen! Do you have your dh's daughter staying at your house, too?
You are having all these challenges at once--it's just too much! Makes you wonder if there's some sort of a message here, doesn't it ?Our kids have to learn to be more responsible; but I know we ourselves feel responsible and loving toward them--we don't want to dump them out, but they need to understand and get themselves under control. Sometimes actual contracts are in order, or needs and expectations written out for all to agree on. That's what we had to do a number of times with one of our daughters. Now we've at least got it down to helping with the grandchildren's schooling and that's it! Just about all my friends are having problems with their kids overspending. It's a tough life, with the cost of housing and gas being so high, and it's much harder for girls, but most of the kids I know just plain spend irresponsibly! I hope yours can get a grip and also get some breaks soon! It's sooo hard to stick to the program when you've got all that going on, Kathleen! I wish I could think of a way to help you. I certainly sympathize! And it doesn't sound like you've been horribly off. At least you're aware of what you need to do and have been keeping it fairly under control--no all out binging is going on; and you ate low carb ice cream, so give yourself a pat for all that !Are the kids doing any cooking for you? If they're eating the diet food, maybe they could learn to replenish it for you. Anyway, the birthday party sounds like fun--hope you can keep from eating those nachos! And we all know birthday cake has medicinal qualities, right? Well, keep posting--it truly helps. Maybe you'd like to go back on induction like I'm doing, since I had a very off week last week. It isn't easy, but I think it's getting me back on track.Today's weight - 156 B - sausage, spinach, egg yolk 2 carbs L - Greek salad, roast lemon garlic chicken 6 carbs D - halibut, mayo, 1/2 c. green beans, 1/2 c. squash 6 carbs S - 1/4 lc choc bar, almonds, cr ch 3 carbs Total for the day - 17 carbs Exercise - 20 min. walk, 10 min, bike |

Boy I hear what you are saying!!!
Yuppers Kathleen all that family commotion will drive one right to fridg or the nearest pizza shop!!! Hey I say throw out all the snacks etc & tell everyone if you're going to be staying here you are going to be on a diet like me.....they'll get jobs & move out right quick
![]() Seriously I feel bad for you cause I know what a strain it all is, & you'll just shoot yourself if you put that 20lbs back on!!! It's hard to know what to do about grown kids...I, like Teresa, have known it to happen to almost everyone I know for all kinds of reasons with all kinds of results. It's ok to take care of yourself in the midst of it all & for us that of course means food behavior. Put your name on things in the fridg that you are counting on. Put the other stuff in your bedroom closet if you need to. No over all binging is a good thing as Teresa said. I immediately did better when ds was all moved out & situated at school but lost 5 weeks of what could have been progress & gained a few lbs back too..... Yesterday was another good eating except I ate more because I was at home. Got lots of things off my to do list & feel in good shape for leaving in 5 days. Today was a good day with my folks going to EMU to see grandsons apartment etc. Was in the back seat with my mom & as she was telling me some stuff about my brothers visit last week she let it slip about them talking about my weight & how my brother commented that I must be close to 300lbs. The way it slid thru the conversation I know she'd didn't realise what she'd let go & I never made any acknowledgement & let her conversation go on. But you know I was humiliated & hurt. It's all true so I shouldn't have been but to think of them sitting around after I left & talking about how fat I am just did me in....so when we stopped for lunch at Max & Erma's I didn't have trouble with eating wrong that's for sure. Got a nice shrimp salad that actually turned out to be quite small (menu gave calorie count of 326) & had to choke that down. My dad is offering bites of his soup, & mom offers me some of her fries or 1 or 2 of her chicken strips etc and I'm thinking life is messed up for sure.....here you're discussing me being fat behind my back & then offer me all these tastes when I order a salad....but aside from that the day was grand. My pride was pretty much back in place by the time we got home. But I was so hungry cause that's all I'd ate today, so I immediately made myself a salad & dh goes by & says are you making that for your lunch tomorrow?? Wanted to throw it at him & scream....but I just said no it's for now cause all I've had today was that salad at noon. Food/emotions/family/stress....it's just all tied up in a knotted ball that we are trying to painstakingly trying unravel. So between my feet yelling at me & my pride being sorely bruised I am hoping to do good all week & even thru my vacation....LOL!!! The car food is safe stuff & so my big challenge will be to not bread & french fry myself all across America & into New Brunswick....I fear those starch opportunities 2 times a day!!!! Keep thinking where were my brains 10yrs ago when I started setting myself up for this fall????????????Teresa your menus sound good & your carb counts are great--plus you are exercising. So you are back on track. Now just stay there & you will see results. Well I am off to make myself some tea & have a carb smart bar as I still am quite hungry. But know if I want to see the scale keep moving I have to go to bed that little tiny bit hungry. Let's all try to have a good Mon. so that we have the courage to face another week!! corrisann |

Bedtime Sunday
Oh, Corrisann--what a sad day! It's so insensitive what people, especially our loved ones, can say! And in the face of the fact that you've been losing, too!
I wish I could be there to give you a big hug! ![]() Well, good for you for keeping yourself from going right out and having a big ole piece of pie or something! That's probably what I'd have felt like doing. Anyway, we're doing this for ourselves, no one else, and no one who hasn't been through this struggle can possibly know how hard it is. At least we have the satisfaction of knowing how hard we have tried, and our accomplishments are very hard won. I feel great just having lost 10 lbs. because I know how hard it's been for me, and even that much has helped my health. Just forget what others say, and congratulations for hanging in there--we'll keep making progress! Have sweet dreams; here's to another day of success. ![]() |

It seems like things change around here about as fast as you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
My DH’s daughter decided she wasn’t going to stay at home after 1 night! HA HA which is fine with me. We don’t really get along so well any way. We do but after 7 years she still doesn’t relate that well! Her roommate borrowed the money she needed to take care of things and I guess they worked it out. HORRAY! ![]() I like that my grandson can have his own space and be able to have a room to go and play or pout in!! That said what a relief. Things are going well for my other daughter. Her boyfriend did get a job ![]() I weighed this morning and was at 156. Not bad for the way the week has gone. I did not go off track yesterday at the party…..brought some boiled shrimp so I could have something besides the hot dogs! I did not even eat cake!! ![]() Today’s Menu B-grilled snapper s-boiled egg L-Steak and salad D-Pork chops and veggies- never made them yesterday. (Everybody was full after the party) s-almonds Corrisan, I am glad you got over what your Mom blurted out! That stuff really hurts……. Glad you took the high road and made a good thing out of it. I am excited for you for your trip! I bet the leaves will all be turning and look so pretty. I really miss the fall season. Seems like we only get summer and a little bit of wet weather (sometimes cool) for our winter. Sounds like the snack food search is going well! You made some great choices. ![]() Teresa you are really putting the rest of us to shame with your exercising. I am glad you’re down a lb. That’s wonderful news. It’s paying off! I am trying induction but I have got so used to having the almonds, I don’t know if I can give them up!!Talk to you soon, Kathleen |

great Mon Plan
You sound completely on track today Teresa. And you are being so good about getting in that few minutes of exercise!
I'm on plan so far & feel good. Had an extra egg & some lettuce w/lunch cause I was hungry & afraid I was gonna allow myself to do the pity party thing & eat something really stupid. Since I got in from work I've had a carb smart bar & 1 oz nuts. We go to our haircut appt tonight so dinner will be after 7 & again I was afraid of getting into trouble...it's interesting to find that I'm really battling myself cause I want to have that binge pity party for being insulted....& I'm doing fine but there's this part of my mind that is missing this opportunity to do whatever I want. It's a strange situation...LOL!! Thought this morning that I would be fine as I had a handle on things & then it's like my own mind is trying to sabotage me..... This whole food game is quite the trip to unravelhahaha!!! |

3 days to go
Good morning!!
Weighed this a.m. to keep myself on track & despite being good & cheat free I was 238 instead of the 236, so it was more of a fluid fluxation than actual burned off fat. I have to eat less of even the legal foods I guess. Or start exercising like you Teresa. Todays menu: B-eggs & hot italian sausage coffee w/cream L-Shrimp & raspberries D-scallops wrapped w/bacon & cauliflower S-carb smart bar |

Tuesday night
Good evening, gals--
Well, I think we're all doing pretty well this week! Congratulations, Kathleen, for resisting all the goodies at the birthday party! And how great that your dh's daughter is independent-minded! You had enough on your hands! It sounds like things are coming together for your daughter and her partner, and they are on their way to better circumstances. You deserve a lot of praise for keeping it together during this challenging time, although I'm sure you're also loving their company! I still eat almonds on induction; it doesn't seem to hold me back as long as I don't eat too many--usually no more that 8 or 10 at night, with a little cream cheese. Corrisann, I can tell you're getting excited about your trip! You've been doing so great this past week--the 2 lbs. is probably just water retention. You'll be starting your vacation on a great note! This morning I was back down to my low before I got the taste problem, which is much better now since I discontinued the arthritis medication. still have it a little bit, but not enough to make me crave sweets so much, thank goodness! It really threw me off; so onward and downward! today's weight - 154 1/2 B - egg yolk, sausage, spinach 2 carbs L - salad, bleu cheese dressing, beef, turkey, pastrami, chicken 6 carbs D - leftover Greek chicken, cauliflower, green beans 5 carbs S - 1/4 lc choc bar, almonds, cr ch 3 carbs Total carbs - 16 Exercise - 30 min. gym, 20 min. walk, 10 min. bike (easy) See you tomorrow! busy day ahead
Well I would have liked to be 236 but it wasn't UP this week so I am happy! We just want it off too fast.....I need to be eating smaller portions still or exercise to move up the speed of loss a notch.
I'm going to my folks tonight after work & spending the nite. My dad is having foot surgery at 7 am on Thurs so I'll be gone all day & then when I get home the rush is on to get the final details done to leave early Fri morning. Will check in once more before I leave Ya'll be good & loose at least 2lbs each week that I'm gone ![]() corrisann |

getting over the hump!
Good Morning,
Today is our weigh in and it’s not too bad. I did get back to my “low” weight of 255. After the last few weeks I feel like that is an accomplishment!! I am trying so hard to say in line. Last night we all had Popeye’s fried chicken. I wasn’t going to have any but then I caved in. Ate 2 pieces. I did not eat the mashed potatoes or those famous biscuits either!! I guess the breading will catch up in a few days! Hopefully I can keep on track and just plow through it. My menu was good the rest of the day. I had grilled fish, steak and salad, almonds and the fried chicken. The thing is I wasn’t prepared for the chicken with an alternative. Had I had something else prepared I probably would not have had it. So I guess it was pure laziness on my part. It just did not seem fair that I was going to have to make something and then have to clean it up when all I had to do was eat and be done. At the time it made sense. The excuses we make for ourselves………………and then agonize over it………..go figure. All time high (2007) - 273 Start date June 18, '07 - 273 Last Monday - 256 Today – 255.00 Goal - 175 to start Height - 5'7 Age – 51 Today’s Menu B-Turkey and mayo roll ups, coffee with cream-0 c S-Boiled eggs-0c L-Chicken and Sausage gumbo-10 c D-Chicken Fajitas on low carb pita w/sour cream and Pico de gallo-10 c I must admit I often have 1-3 diet cokes along with my water through out the day. I always seem to forget to write that in. I like what you have been doing with the carb count on the menu Teresa. I think we can each help each other should we post 1 number and someone thinks it is wrong or wonders how we got there. We may be able to catch each others pitfalls. For instance, how do you count boiled eggs? I always count eggs as 0. Am I correct? If we see inconsistencies then we can help to educate each other. Lord knows I have counted one thing one way only to find out it should be counted another way…………….. Corrisann congrats to you for losing that lb!! You say just one lb, I say just one a week is 52 at the end of the year!! And that is progress!! You only have 2 days left till vacation!!! Are you doing all those last minute things? I also have to have my house clean before I go on vacation, cause when I come home I want a clean bed and a clean house to welcome me back! Till later, Kathleen |

Wednesday weigh-in
Hi, Gals--
So congratulations, Corrisann, and congratulations, Kathleen, on your 1 lb. losses this week! We all lost weight! ![]() You're right on, Kathleen--we always want to lost more than just a lb. a week. but if we could do that every week, 52 lbs. off in a year! ![]() I think eggs are pretty much 0 carbs, maybe the whites are about 1/2 g.--not worth counting. When you eat fried chicken, can you remove the breading? I try to do that when we eat out and the food has breading, although sometimes it's really stuck on there. But you did real great this week, Kathleen; that was about your only goof, and you still lost a lb. ![]() Corrisann, you are really running--hope your dad's surgery goes well! If you don't have a chance to check in before you leave, here's hoping you have a fabulous trip! And I hope we may be able to hear from a bit on the way!It turned cold and windy here, and we may even get some showers. Very odd for this time of year. I hope the wintry weather doesn't make me hungrier! Staying on induction this week helped me--I lost another 1/2 since yesterday, so am down to my lowest so far. Am going to try to stay on induction as long as I can stand it, hoping to get close to 150 by the end of the month! All time high - 175 Start date - 6/6/07 - 165 Last Monday - 156 Today - 154 Goal - 125 Height - 5'2" Age - 58 B - egg yolk, spinach, sausage 2 carbs L - salad, 2 shrimp enchiladas, no tortillas, 8 carbs? D - chicken breast, mayo, 1/2 c. cauliflower, 1/2 c. squash 4 carbs S - almonds, cr ch, 1/2 lc choc. bar 3 carbs |

THURSDAY
Hello Ladies,
Hope we are all making it through the week ok and on track. I did well yesterday. The only thing I did was have about 5 carbs more than planned. Instead of cooking the fajitas, I had a Rueben Sandwich on low carb bread. So I figure it did not hurt too badly and boy was it good. Something different! As we speak I hope all is well with your Dad’s operation Corrisann. I really want you to be worry free for your vacation! Teresa and Gramma where are you today? I will keep this short and sweet since I am at work………….. Today’s Menu B-Sausage and eggs, coffee w/cream -0 c L-Roast beef, steamed squash and green beans-6 c D-Grilled chicken fajitas on low carb tortilla w/sour cream, pico de gallo, and cheese-10 c S-almonds-3c I will try to check in later Kathleen |

1 final report
Hey ladies! I'm home from the hospital & my dad was doing good. My mom felt pretty confident that she'll be able to handle his recouping at home--she'll be exhausted but ok. So that's a relief!
Am so proud of my eating yesterday & today. Told my mom not to worry about dinner for me last nite (spent nite at their place) so I was able to take some shrimp, cuke & tomatoe slices. This morning we were called by the hospital to come early so I was able to put the bread & homemade grape jelly back in the fridg that my mom had put out for my breakfast & grab an apple & go. Then when we finally got to eat lunch at 1:30 I was starved but the hospital had a nice baked chicken & I had a salad & green beans. We always feel so good when we get on a roll it always amazes me when we stop--for whatever reason. You are doing so great w/induction Teresa!!! May be the thing you have to do most to balance out the side effects of your med's. And like Kathleen said wouldn't we all be singing hip hip horray if we're sitting here next year 52lbs thinner!!!! I really like to leave my house clean too Kathleen--so much nicer to come home to a clean house & just relax. But I fear that will not be the case this year. Just no time tonight. I think you need to be with me to get a break from that Texas heat girl...LOL!!! Teresa it sounds like you're getting your version of fall already. I'm so looking forward to all the beautiful fall colors all thru the East. I actually have a menu in mind for tomorrow; will make & take a thermos of coffee w/cream & have a protein bar (have donuts to go with dh coffee--good thing they don't tempt me) for lunch I am making up a tuna egg salad (have a ww roll for dh to eat his on) with cucumber slices. When we stop for dinner I will have a nice legal meal of something grand. I have lots of good legal stuff going with me so if I can just beat the mind game I should be ok. Have nuts & even some jerky & Laughing Cow cheese wedges & celery sticks to spread it on & a bag of apples from the local orchard. Have some lc choc's so that I can have treats too. So I have done everything I can--the rest is up to my maturity & how much I really really want to get this weight off!!! Will so miss checking in with you all; you're my life line & I hope the old laptop gives me the chance!! If not it will be around Oct 8th before I can report back in. corrisann |

Thursday night
Hi, gals--
Wow, Corrisann, you have really planned spectacularly for your trip! With all those great snacks, you'll have plenty to satisfy you and help keep you on program. Friday night
Well, I had a busy day with dreamgroup. Fve of us went to lunch at the Hilton in Scotts Valley, which was nice. I managed to stay on track with a shrimp salad while the others had lucious looking hamburgers and fries. And dh was too busy to roast his usual Friday chicken, so we went out to dinner, too! So I had shrimp again, with cole slaw, and just a little clam chowder. I hope it doesn't throw me off tomorrow.
Are you going to the lodge this weekend, Kathleen? I bet you're there this evening, having a great time! Any plans for the weekend? I have none except to go the gym and pick up the house--boooring! Today's weight - 153 1/2 B - scrambled eggs w/sausage, spinach 2 carbs L - shrimp salad, caesar dressing 5 carbs D - broiled prawns w/butter, little clam chowder, cole slaw 10 carbs? S - almonds, cr ch, lc choc 3 carbs Exercise - 20 min. walk |

Well it's going to be a little tough going to the gym today; it's raining and I've had a headache and achey legs this morning. Feel like I'm coming down with a cold. Makes it hard to stay on the eating plan--I always want to eat comfort food when I have a cold or something. But I'm determined to lose another couple of lbs. soon! I'm on a drive!
Hope you're having a fun weekend, Kathleen; I saw there was another storm down in the gulf--hope you didn't get it too bad!
