need a LC Buddy

Hi everyone

I'm looking to start Atkins again but I'd really love to have a on-line bud to share the ups and downs with. I've had people respond to me before but they always fade into the sunset. I'm looking for someone who is committed...or should be committed!!, who will keep in touch, who won't give up and won't let me give up. In return I promise to nag, harp, badger and pretty much be a LC butt kicker in return. Any takers

I would love to have a buddy. I've been LCing since early January 07. I've lost 37 pounds but still want to lose more. The weight loss has really slowed down. It's easy to get discouraged. I thought I would be at goal by now but that has not happened.

I'm 50 and live in South Carolina.

I wrote an extremely long (and probably boring) post over the weekend and lost it. I didn't have time to retype it so I thought I would come back today. I don't know how many buddies you are looking for but I need some butt kickin' and am willing to do the same.

Hello Chicky, Momof3, Jazlyn, Ctsweetie,

It looks like we have our own little pen-pal group here. Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

I've been doing LCing since January 07. I've lost 37 lbs but it sure is getting harder to lose now. I only lost 3 in April and about the same so far for May. I need to do something to mix it up. Any suggestions? I really thought I would be at goal by now, but that hasn't happened. I'm a bit discouraged, but not giving up.

What is your all's LC history?

More later.

Well Hello There...

Hiya Carolina et al....

How are ya'll doing so far? I started Atkins back in 2004. It took me three and a half months to get to goal of 125 from 156 and another month and a half to drop 9 below that even. I was ecstatic with my new body. So what did I do?? I serial dated and fell off the wagon neglecting my way of eating for the peoples' in my emerging social circles. It's three years later and I'm at 170.2 as of this morning. I said to myself, "okay self, today you are going to do it all over, remember how good you felt last time, how long it took, how much work you put into it, and this time you will keep it up when you've reached goal." So here I am. And here you all are. It's quarter after 8 pm and i've had a successful day. I'm going to be weak tomorrow and hop on the scale but I'm planning on charting out my progress day by day. I've made a pact with myself that if it doesnt move every day or two/three days, not to get down/discouraged. I want to be 125 by the end of September. I want my body back! lol We can do it!!! What are your stories??

PS

Congrats on your weight loss Carolina. That's awesome!! A little bit before I hit goal last time it stopped for a bit and then picked right up again. I didn't change anything, I just waited it out. I'm up for some good ways of mixing it up though, too.

Hi all!

I need a buddy also so if I could join all of you I would be very happy!
I am 36 yrs old, live in Wisconsin, mother of 2, have 3 dogs and 2 cats. At my highest weight I weighed in around the 330lb mark! YIPES!! To much! I am down to 282lbs now. My next goal is to lose around 40lbs by Oct so I can fit into the bridesmaid dress that I ordered last month. So I am looking for a lot of encouragement and support and to be here for others as well.

Chicky, I'm with you on the early rising. I hit the floor at 4:30. Glad to hear you had a good LC day. Thanks for getting us together. I promise not to disappear.

KBear, You have animals. I like that. My dear doggie friend of 12 years died last Monday. It has been so hard on all of us. I miss him so much. Would love to hear about yours.

CTSweetie, I've not been at goal let alone below goal since college. You will make it! We will help. I'm getting a little discourage but hearing that you slowed down then went on to lose is encouraging.

Jaslyn, The more the better. Maybe we will become a very tight group. I hope so. I need all the help I can get.

Mom of 3, Hey I'm a mom of three also. Plus one grandson who is 4. Aren't kids great. By the way, the never leave completed. They just bring back more!! But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ladies, I'm excited. I need to get re-motivated and this is going to help me a lot.

I thought I would give you all a brief history. I'm 50 - and I can't believe I really am. The years fly by.

I have 3 children. Two daughters - one is 23 and one is 24 (yes, the 23 was a pleasant surprise). My son is 29. My 24 year old daughter and her 4 year old son live w/ my husband and me. She is a 2nd year teacher and cannot afford her own place at this time. My son also lives here. Same story w/ him. Things are very expensive in North Myrtle Beach. My youngest built a house about a mile from me. We are a very tight family.

I am a middle school counselor and love every minute of it. I taught school for 21 years before becoming a counselor. I spend about 9 years as a high school counselor. I started teaching when I was 19 so I've been in education for a long while. Best job in the world.

Weight issues started (or I thought they did) in high school. I weighed between 120-130 in high school and thought I was huge. Lost weight in college, got married and gained up to 140-145. Had 3 children, got a divorce, weight ranged from 125-140 for several years. About 8 years ago I gained up to 185 and carried that around until I started this WOE in Jan. You name the diet and I've tried it! Even diet pills. Nothing has helped for very long. My biggest fear is gaining back what I have lost so far. I keep telling myself that I won't because this is for life. I pray it is.

Enough about me for now. Would love to have background on all of you.

We CAN do this!!!!

Later.

History of me: I am a single mom of 3 (boy 14, girl 13, girl 11). I have recently gone back to school for computerized bookkeeping and am doing some volunteer work now until I can find employment. Due to excessive weight/uncontroled sleep apnea I haven't been able to work for many years so was/is on a disability. Now that I have lost some weight (125lbs) I am feeling much better and now able to participate in life.

I lost the first 60lbs following Atkins and the rest by doing Meat/egg for the most part. My weightloss has slowed down considerably however I feel much better while doing meat/egg than anything else as I still have major issues with portion control. I can easily eat veggies until I throw up so with me it is out of sight out of mind kind of thing.

That's about it for now.

Linda

Hey Ladies
Happy Tuesday, not a bad day for me food wise or work wise, but yawn,,I am bagged!! I'm lovin you ladies allready !! make sure none of you go anywhere!!

A little about me, I'm 50 YIKES!!! But its all good, I have 2 kids a son 22 whos a starving actor and a daughter 17 who graduates next week and will go to Art School in the fall. I've worked for the same company for 22 years,I'm a Manager in a Call Center for a Bank. Good hours, good $$, good benefits so they'll have to carry me out. I have 2 Pugs and a pound cat that rule my life. I've been married for 28 years but will be selling the house in a couple of months and separating from DH. Again a good thing, my idea not his but we're both OK with it now. I have battled the bulge since shortly after HS. I think that I've been unhappy in my marriage for so long I just couldn't get up the energy or willpower to do anything about it.

Anyway thats me in a nutshell, stay strong everyone

Hi girls,

Ok a little about me. I am 44 years old, married (20 years next month) and have 3 kids. An 18yo son, a 14yo daughter and a 7yo son (he was quite a surprise) I am on perminant disability. I suffer from bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder and agoraphobia. In other words I'm a mess.

Somedays I may feel fine and others I want to end it all. But I am determined to lose some weight and I have every confidence that it will make me feel better not only physically but mentally as well.

I need someone to kick my booty and make me (encourage me) to exercize when I'm depressed.

I feel like I can encourage others and keep them on track too.

It will be great getting to know you all. I hope I haven't scared anyone away.

Is everyone exercizing and staying on plan today?

I am!! I have hardly any food in the house and am in desperate need of a grocery shopping trip but my car is in the shop and I rarely go out alone. I'll wait until my daughter gets home from school and hopefully my car will be done then too.

I had to have some cheese for breakfast and some coffee with cream and splenda. I'll be searching through my bare cupboards for something LC for lunch.

I have a pair of 16 capris that I desperately want to get into by my anniversary on June 27th. I am in an 18 right now. I'll have to work my butt off for the next month. We are going to stay at a hotel in the mountains. No kids allowed on this trip.

Off to the treadmill.

Ate too much protein yesterday and up 2lbs even with a lot of water. Oh well just another example of how even too much of a good thing can be bad for you. My knee is a bit sore for some reason so I am staying at home today and trying to catch up on a few things. Have no excuse not to drink my water.

Had a couple of bites of tuna salad so far this morning. Probably have some more later. Just not that into eating right now. Trying to figure out what to have for dinner.

I know that the general consensus is not to shop if you are hungry but that for me backfires. What happens is that if I am grocery shopping and not hungry I am not inspired to buy anything because I will just go around the store and say to myself that doesn't look that good. So I end up leaving with next to nothing. Then when I am hungry there is nothing in the house to eat and I end up just getting something snack like to munch on from the corner store. It just always ends up a viscious circle.

Hey everyone!

I am doing very well so far. It's now day 4 for me and doing great I feel. I started at 287.6 and now this morning I am 276.6!!! YAY!! I know this weight loss rate won't last but I love it! I wish it would last though. It sure would get this weight off faster.

Jazlyn- I know you can get into those size 16 jeans by then! No kids allowed...sounds like you will have a great time!

Chicky-I bet your pugs are so cute! Sounds like you have a really nice job with great benefits! Sorry to hear about your marriage. I've been thru that and a divorce before.

Linda-Computerized bookkeeping sounds fun. I started going to school for accounting about 16 years ago for 2 yrs but didn't finish up with it. I wish I would have though. I'm not sure I could do the meat and egg thing. I love the meat part but can't eat egg to much unless it's in egg salad, I love the veggies though.

Carolina Girl- Sorry to hear about your dog! One our dogs died about 3 yrs ago and she was only 11 months. Our dogs now are Missy age 7, Herman age 5 and Brandy age 1 and the 2 cats 8yrs and 3 yrs. 2 of the dogs are German shorthairs and Brandy is our mini daschsund. So cute!

Well everyone have a good day. Talk to you all later.

Christine

Hey all, I've had a good LC day also. I did eat too many walnuts, but I came home from work hungry. We are doing end of year tests and that is a lot of work for the counselors. I haven't lost in forever it seems. I go up and down the same pound.

Linda: I have thought a lot about the meat and egg program. Did you have a gain when you switched back to just LC? That's what I am afraid of. I can eat LC the rest of my life but I don't think I can do meat and egg for a long period of time. Any advice? I need to start losing again. Summer is here!!

Jazlyn: Friends don't scare away. We support each other. I also have a degree in community counseling so I understand your problems very well. I'm here for you!

Chicky: Sorry about the failed marriage. I had a difficult divorce years and years ago. It sounds like your may be much better than mine was. We're here for you if you need us. When is your birth month? You mentioned 50 and 5 months and that is exactly what I am. I was born Dec 1st.

Christine: That is a great loss. Some folks lose fast the whole time. Maybe you will be one of them. I wasn't. The first month was fast but every month after has been slower until now it is just a crawl. Very discouraging.

CTsweetie: Where are you?

It's time for dinner ( a grilled chicken salad for me) so I'll sign off for now. Let's all stay strong. Together we can do this.

Hey Ladies
Another good low-carb day today! As long as I can exercise some self control in the evening I'm good. I have plenty to do around this house in order to put it on the market. The sooner it sells the sooner I can buy my own place . Everyone stay strong

The problem with having the extra chicken breasts, etc on hand is that I will eat them until they are gone no matter how full I am. Still have major issues with portion control.

Meat/egg. I think it is an individual thing. I am pretty much on it for maybe 95% of the time with the only veggie being green onion which I use to spice up egg salad, tuna salad and scrambed eggs. I have no problem staying on it all the time as I love eggs and tuna. This morning I had a bit of lettuce with egg and cheese because my dd didn't want to finish her salad and there was only a couple of bites left and its the don't waste good food mentality I still have. Sometimes I gain a bit if I have a lot of veggies but mostly I just don't loss for a while when I start to add them back to my diet. If you added 5carbs of veggies slowly it might help ward off any weight gain but that is just thinking outloud with no real experience. Again that is because of my issues with overeating. When I do eat veggies it isn't a bite or two it is a whole head of broccoli, etc.

With all that being said I am down the 2lbs I gained because I spent most of yesterday in bed with a 24 hr flu. Had some tuna salad yesterday morning and coffee. About 1/2 hr later started feeling ill and threw up. Went to bed and didn't even hear the kids come home from school until I heard banging around in the kitchen.

Hey Momof3

tossing your cookies isn't the easiest way to lose weight! hopefully you're feeling better. You must be doing something right the weight is coming off, but I know what you mean about portion control some days I open the fridge everytime I walk past. Work saves me, all I can eat is what I bring and I only bring whats allowed.

Hope everyone else is well and had a successful low carb day

Hey Ladies, I messed up yesterday at school. I ate candy!!! They were the small ones but I ate about 8 of them. I skipped dinner to try to pay for my sin. I was down 1/2 lb this morning so I don't think I've done a lot of damage. I'm just mad at myself for giving in and eating candy. I could have been down a whole pound if I had refused the candy. When will I ever learn?

Off to get ready for work. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hi kids,

How is everyone doing? Let's all stick to plan today!

I finally went grocery shopping so I have some LC food in the house. I was living on cheese and bacon and eggs.

I NEED to get my butt in gear and exercize more. This day here, day there isn't cutting it.

Finally broke down and decided to try and make revolution rolls. OMG they are so easy and yummy. My kids love them too. I have made 3 batches since yesterday. I am going to have to find a cheaper place to buy ricotta cheese if I keep making these.

Still 269lbs even with all the rolls I was eating yesterday plus lots of homemade lowcarb mocha I was drinking so that was nice.
