Paula Jean I don't know about anybody else but I am just plain ENVIOUS of you having a hunter in the family. My DH loves to go target shooting...so do I...but never has done much hunting. There is NOTHING like getting your own fresh meat...something that hasn't been injected or fed hormones and other junk (now that's a crime as far as I am concerned!).
DH also used to teach "gun safety", but sort of gave it up when he retired. We are both advocates of the 2nd amendment...Just the way we feel...I don't mind others views too. Have a great day all. >^.,.^<

My DH likes his guns too. He has a few of them, most of which he inherited when his dad passed away. He has taught the kids gun safety and takes them to the shooting range once in a blue moon (at that time, the kids are re-taught about gun safety.) He hasn't been hunting yet. He always intends to do it next season. But, work gets in the way. This week he is on vacation and is starting to drive me nuts. He is playing with the dogs and as I was typing the last sentence he threw their rope toy on my wine rack and knocked a glass over. Talk about good timing!

I am doing lots better with the LC today. Still not perfect. DH took me to Olive Garden for lunch. I ate salad, 1/3 of a breadstick, and had the chicen spiedini with grilled veggies and 2 chunks of roasted potato. I worked out today after I ate lunch, so I am not too concerned.

When the kids get home we are gonna go take them to see Spider-Man. I am not too interested in seeing it, but the rest of the bunch is. I am waiting for Pirates of the Carribean. Love Johnny Depp!

I have decided to try to make chicken fried steak tonight by coating it with a light layer of Carbquik and lots of spices. Has anyone tried that, or does anyone have a better idea for breading?

The scale this morning shows me at 202.5. So, I am at a 0 loss or gain for the week. With the way that I have been eating, I will take it.

Justine. sounds like you did real good on the camping trip.. wtg!!!

I used to love Olive Garden but something in the salad dressing would give me a msg headache and they said no msg... I miss it but just cant do the salads.. and that was the best thing!

Stacy at least youre not showing a gain.. I'm still puzzled at myself..

think I know what it is...
VENTING:

I picked up another copy of Atkins.. never loan your books out!!!

I got to reading again and didnt know that broccoli 1cup has 8carbs ... I thought it was one of the free veggies... I ate at Golden Corral (buffet)today with the girls. and I thought I was being picky.. had green beans, broccoli, cabbage, small very small salad, pork chops, chicken .. all in fairly small portions.. but i really loaded on the green stuff, even had turnip greens.. get home and find I must have gone over 20g in just one sitting.. no wonder Im not losing.. I really need to use my fitday and get serious on this.. I thought I was doing legal foods.. but apparently I'm eating too many carbs at one time.. I had 2 eggs for bf with bacon bits in it.. with sprinkles of cheese.. thats prob 2.5 carbs right there..

Im getting so aggrevated at myself.. Im not going to eat tonight.. Im still full anyway.. but hubby is getting stuffed peppers and corn, fried potatoes. I was gonna eat the peppers but i will save mine for lunch tomorrow..

Mary & girls, Im glad you understand the guns and how men just love them..
I'll just have to see how this turns out.. as the world turns..my own soap I guess.

I'm gonna head back upstairs and watch tv with hubby then head back down when he goes to bed..
later!

Paula Jean about the brocolli...it is mostly fiber. I believe you subract the fiber and come up with your carb count that way. It is one of the good carbs and it is one of the vegetables that we are allowed. Just wanted to drop in and let you know...have a great evening all. >^.,.^<

I meant to add in the last post about Olive Garden...doesn't that just make you MAD!?!?! I used to love the salad too...now I bring my own salad dressing. It doesn't help that the only salad dressing they have is their house stuff too.. I don't know what it is but their salad dressing seems real acidy.
When I bring my own dressing I leave it right on the table for everyone to see. Hope they get the message
We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast Saturday and I was so surprised they had a Low Carb Breakfast. It was good too!
Nighty night again...>^.,.^<

Let me tell ya, you scared me with the brocc count, I eat alot of brocc.

Fitday won't subtract the fiber you have to remember to do so at the end.

You scared me too! I find that I tend to gain weight with veggies. It really stinks cuz I really enjoy them.

We took the kids to see Spider-man. Not a bad movie. It was about what I expected it to be.

I fried up some cube steak tonight with a Carbquick coating. It was really good. I spiced up the carbquick with some Cajun seasoning, then salt and peppered the meat. Coated the meat in egg, then Carbquick and fried it up. Nice and easy.

B: none
L: Olive Garden
D: cube steak and collard greens

OMG Stacy that recipe sounds fantastic for the CFsteak. I miss that a lot. I was using ground up dry oatmeal for a while but it tasted toooo good and I was afraid it would stall me...so I stopped .

Yep, gotta remove the fiber count. I think it is in the Atkins book...if not it would most likely be at the Atkins website. That's funny Stacy I start to gain if I don't eat veggies. I also try to eat as much raw as I can...veggies and fruit that is. It seems to fill me up more I can't eat the brocolli or spinach raw because of thyroild issues so I have to cook them....also can't have any peanuts or peanut butter because of the thyroid...but I love walnuts and buy the big sack at Sam's

DH is going to smoke a brisket today (should last us for at least 4 days) and I am going to make a big batch of salad greens so we can use them during the week...just need to add tomatoes etc. and for sure I am making our veggie drink this morning and then frying up some eggs and boiling a few too for later on...should be a good week.

Gotta go get on the rebounder and shake some of this fat loose
Y'all, have a great day...see ya later on. >^.,.^<

The chicken fried steak was really good. The coating was really crisp. Not as good as the HC version, but definitely good!

Gonna be busy today. DH is doing some outside work, think that he is digging up a fence post that has broken off. I am going to work in the house today, laundry, clean up, and more laundry.

I am also gonna do yogalates today. I don't know when it happened that if I don't exercise I feel kinda bad.

I need a good swift kick in the butt to get on track with diet and exercise. Our cruise is in 4 months and I want to be able to buy a couple of swimming suits at the end of the season that are smaller than the ones I own now.

Todays weight 202.5. Same as yesterday.

B: 2 sausage patties and 1 egg
L: BLT salad
D: chicken cordon bleu and broccoli casserole

I just can't seem to figure out why i'm not losing. I'm going to try and up the fat since I don't use alot of fat.

Like when I make my eggs I use Pam and when I eat veggies I don't put butter on them. So I'm going to change that and see if that helps.

Also trying real hard to get in my 4 16oz bottles of water, this is a chore for me since I hate water, now that the weather is getting hotter it won't be as hard.

It just really stinks that the first month and a half I was losing so well then all of a sudden I gain back 5? Oh well at least I'm eating better and I still feel better.

I'm so sorry about the scare.. I scared myself when I was cking the atkins book... Thinking all those carbs! But yes mary thanks for setting me straight.. it was one of those days!

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to keep lettuce from freezing.. i just bought some leaf lettuce and half of it was frozen this morning. I have my frig at lowest setting because of this. I guess I could make room for some kinda container but its (frig) always packed. crisper draw is only good on one side and if i put things there.. I really forget about them and there's more waste.

Need to run.. back later for more chiming in..

Haven't been able to get squat done today. DH called me outside to help for a minute and that has turned into an all day thing.

Yesterday we went to a dollar store and we found SF Hawaiian Punch singles to go. 5 cals, 0 carbs. And we also found Wyler's Light Pink Lemonade singles to go. 5 cals, 0 carbs. Just add to a bottle of water. They are both REALLY good! I like the lemonade better but that is because I am not a punch fan.

I made the chicken cordon blue tonight (with mozzarella.) It is too good!

I did go to the library today. I checked out the Atkins book again. I wanna read it and see where I can make subtle changes in my everyday life to help with my lifestyle change.

I've ate almonds, too many. 8oz
I've started sprinkling flax seed (grounded) on everything I can.. Its making a potty difference ( arent ya glad I shared) Read about doing that on another post.
I'm going to try go walking this evening if the temp drops.

I'll post more when i find my drugs to rid this headache.. even the screen hurts my eyes.

Paula - sorry to hear about your migrane, i take Excedrine for migranes and it really works. I'm glad to hear the "pipes" are running smoothly with the flaxseed.

Stacy - I use the crystal light packets and the lipton green tea too. I hate, ok loathe water so I have to spruce it up anyway that i can.

B: 2 egg omlete (mush/cheese) 2 sl of low sodium bacon
S: 2 tsp of lc peanut butter (4 carbs per 2 tsp)
L: tuna salad w/ half a medium sized green pepper
S: a couple pieces of zero carb beef jerky
D: Cheesesteak Matticotti and salad w/ bacon ranch dressing.
S: sf jello

I may have to cut out the peanut butter I heard that it tends to cause people to gain weight...that sticks cause i love my peanut butter..so I won't eat any the rest of the week and see what happens on the scale.

Drinking my 4 16 oz bottle of water.

How does my menu look? Please let me know if you see any issues cause I am not losing, i have gained 4 lbs back and don't know why. This happened when I ate the chili and has never gone away.

Oh by the way what low carb brand of spaghetti sauce do you use? how many carbs per serving?

Paula, sorry to hear about the migraine. I really hope that you are able to get rid of it soon! Do yours just come on strong, or does it start out slow and work its way up to full on? Mine start out subtle, then by the time it registers with me that I have a migraine, the Excedrin just makes mystomach upset and I feel worse.

Thanks for the flaxseed tip. I make granola bars with it, in fact I need to do that soon. I have a recipe that tastes a lot like regular granola and another granola bar recipe that we make uses peanut butter and mini chocolate chips. Love that lots, so do the kids.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, or if TOM coming up has something against me, but the scale went up a pound today. I am sure I did good yesterday. So frustrating!

Paula - I hope your head feels better today.

Not sure of menu today..stomach not feeling to good but I had:

B: Leftover cheesesteak manticotti

I'll probable try and fit in a salad w/ tuna at some point to get in veggies but not sure yet.

I'm starting to get nervous I have a big fundraiser I'm putting on for my Daughters Girl Scout troop and it's not going as well as planned. We were hoping for 150 people, and were selling tickets ahead of time and well lets just say that's not happening and the event is May 19th.

I was hoping to lose more weight before my birthday (May 25th 36yo ouch) but at this rate i'll just be lucky if I don't gain.

I've not had a migraine in a month or two, so tuesday night it came on suddenly and progressed into the evening and lagged to the next day. I have Rx meds that I take. Maltax is the only thing that works for me.. Imitrex makes my arms ache like Ive been mildly shocked.. weird huh?

Riddle me this someone? If an 8oz can of almonds have 8 servings, at 4gr of carbs per serving.. and 3 grms of fiber.. if i eat the whole can.. how many carbs in total.. 8 carbs??? Ya wanna know the calories...hehehe 1360. Ive not ate the whole can but worked mighty hard on that can the other day.
I've ate on probably 1/2 can today. So maybe 4 carbs. LOL.. I'm gonna pass on dinner again tonite, just because of the calories and my stomach is hurting.

BF Egg salad and bacon 2 slices
Lunch Grilled chicken Salad w/ blue cheese dressing
almonds
1 atkins endulgence ice cream bar (3 carb)
lots of Sf drink mixes and water.

Justine, it may be building muscle during the WOE that keeps you at your current weight. I didnt have any problems eating the chunkie chili but I also only had 1 cup serving, Dh took the rest to work. Everything esle you list seems to be okay. I dont know matticoti, is it lc? I added cream cheese a few times this week and it seems to help fill me up and avoid temptations. I wish I could give you some advice to get you going. I know how stalling even for 3 or 4 weeks feel... just dont give in yet. Im sure others here at the website will try to help you too.

Paula, good luck! With 3 teens, you may need it!

It has been pretty uneventful around here with DH home with me. I can tell you that the house is a wreck. Nothing seems to get done when he is here.

I am contemplating going to OK next weekend, my youngest brother is graduating high school. I really want to go, but DH won't be able to go, I will have all 3 kids with me, and I am not sure financially (gas prices especially) if it is such a great idea... But, at the same time, I haven't been home to see the family in a year and my brother was my "first baby" up until I mved out here....I don't know what to do.

B: hard boiled egg and 1 slice bacon
L: egg salad and hot dog
D: brisket and Dreamfields macaroni salad

Paula - from what other have told me the maniticotti comes in at 2.5 a serving so not bad for one.

Have fun on your trip...trust me I know what it's like to be shut in with 7 teenage GIRLS....there's not enough aspirin in the world.

Stacy - Don't you eat veggies? I never get anything done while hubby is home. I send him on errands. I know money is tight but your little bro only graduates once from high school.

Morning ladies!

Justine, I do eat veggies. Gotta keep them to a minimum, cuz I am likely to go overboard with them, and unfortunately I tend to gain weight with them. The macaroni salad recipe I use has lots of veggies in it. The macaroni almost plays a support role in it.

I have decided to go to Oklahoma next week. Not only had I put myself on a major guilt trip, but my mom and one of my brothers (Chris) has also been working on me. I thanked my mom for the "free trip" last night. Told her that I would call her tomorrow and give her my final answer. As it looks, the kids and I would be leaving on Wednesday morning and getting home Saturday evening. That will give us a little time to see the family and rest up before coming back home.

When my brother called me yesterday, he called to ask my opinion on a motorcycle that he is thinking about buying. Not too long ago, I wouldn't have been able to carry on a conversation like that, let alone give opinions or ideas. My DH has changed me! Maybe he will have the bike before I get there and maybe he will let me ride it.

Not sure what we have going on today. I think that we are gonna work out in the backyard today. It really can use some TLC. Maybe I will get a little color on my pale self...

B: none, not really hungry
L: BLT on revolution roll
D: fried catfish and coleslaw

I keep forgetting to mention, Justine, spaghetti sauce- I use either Hunt's SF sauce (it is in a can and inexpensive) or if my carbs have been ok, I prefer Ragu's Organic sauce. A little higher carb, but I like it better. Also, Hunt's Italian Sausage flavored spaghetti sauce is not too bad, sometimes I will mix 1can of that with 1 can of the sugar free sauce.
