Just dropped in real quick.
The doctor visit went great. The technician told me she was going to do a test. Okay, what kind of test I said. Well, the next thing I knew I felt like I was going to pass out. She sped my heart up and didn't tell me first. I didn't appreciate that too much. What creeps me out though, is the fact that she did it by pushing a button on her monitor! That is so crazy. It is amazing what technology can do today. She also asked me if anyone has let me hear the tones that the ICD makes. I said no. She said okay I will let you hear the two different tones it will make. Well, I'm sitting there like an idiot and didn't hear anything. The noise was coming from my ICD from inside my body and I didn't hear it. I think there is too much fat and it is muffling the sound. She did it a couple more times and paid more attention and I did hear the tones. I was assuming the tones were initially going to come from the computer she was using. I didn't realize she would be able to push a button on the screen and interact like that with the ICD. Welcome to the world of medical technology Carrie. ![]() Um.......Betty Lou........guess what I had today..............ICE CREAM! ![]() We also went to Olive Garden. MMMMMMM it was so good.TOMORROW............I have a new goal. I want to see how many days I can go without cheating. Anyone want to join me? Carrie ![]()

Hi!
Ok Carrie, I'm in. Except I might have to think just a little bit differently. I'm a nut-case, so I've got to set a mini-mini-mini-mini-goal for me. So, I think I will say........no cheating for me until (and IF) Sunday. I guess I have to set a limit and then conquer it. If I say let's see how far I can go without cheating, then, that might just be a HALF HOUR from now!!! ![]() ![]() I've did really good today. 1 piece of toast for breakfast (I was on the run.....first day of school and there were meetings and I woke up late, AS FREAKIN' USUAL)! Lunch was chicken salad, cut up tomatoes. Snack: Peach (God they are sooooo juicy....and the fresh fruit stand is just down the street from me). Supper: chicken breast, cottage cheese, 7 baked french fries. And when I got home from work (5:00), I had to have a peach again. ![]() Ok, I just might have another one right now. That's it then. 3 for the day. So, see, I kinda do some carbs, but I limit myself. I limit myself in everything I guess. I DO watch the fats. I have to. Something about my body that if I eat too much fat.......the weight just won't come off. Funny about the ICD and that you couldn't hear the beeps because your fat muffled it. Oh my God, laughed soooooo hard! I STILL am! ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, my hubby told me the first time they tested his ICD. His heart raced and he got a zinger from head to toe. I guess everything works! But he did tell him about the racing heart so all the other times he's been tested they turned it down a few notches. Right now, he has to go in for an office visit (test) once a year and every four months we test it by Care-link Monitor. You hook the monitor up to the phone and put the little "mouse" over your ICD for a minute or so and it reads it through the phone line! Cool. Then the next morning the results are waiting on their printer and the nurses look at it to see if there were any episodes. They can even tell if there was a "close call." And they can tell the EXACT TIME AND DATE that it happened. It reads everything. That is comforting to know. So.......even though you have your ICD for another reason, it's very cool knowing that your heart is being monitored 24 hours every second. I'm glad to hear that you had a good test! Oh, and you can ask for a print-out of your results. It's your right and you are entitled to it. My husbands ICD will cardio-vert at like 160 beats per minute. And if his heart goes up to 178 beats per minute, he will get zapped. So far, no zaps thank God. He's had his ICD since December, 2003. He is taking Atenolol to slow his rythym. I think I mentioned that before. So, anyway, busy day at work. The teachers came back and we had meetings. Then we have another meeting in the morning again at 8 a.m., then back to our offices. Then the kids come on Thursday. UGGGHHHH!!! I will be tired after work, that's for sure. Tomorrow is my hubby's birthday. We might do a little something, but not too much. I'll see what he wants to do tomorrow. Oh wow.....I just thought of something. I'll be getting him a cake tomorrow. And you know what that means. Ok, just a small piece. I'll have to subtract a carb somewhere else in the day to make that cake "legal." See you guys later, Betty Lou ![]()

Hey Ladies!
I had a wonderfully fun weekend. I ate and drank and ate and drank. And, the scale shows it. Up to 163! Woah! 8 pounds in three days! So, I am guzzling the water and hopefully it will all come off in a couple of days. My take on pork rinds. I like them. Most of the time. I go through phases of liking them then not caring for them. I have tried plain ones with a cinammon/sugar/butter coating. Kinda tasty if you want something a litle sweet with crunch. I have ground up pork rinds and coated both chicken and pork chops then baked them. Quite tasty. I have also ground up pork rinds and coated mozzarella sticks then fried those. Oh yeah! Damn skippy! ![]() Carrie, you have a way of telling stories that really makes me giggle! I can't believe that the tech sped up your heartrate without telling you first! I can only imagine how bad that sucked.I will join up with you to see how many days I can go without cheating. Sounds like fun. NOT! But, I am up for it. I have also decided that I will be at 150 by the 15th of the month. The weekend following that, I am going to invite a few friends over that have been with me through this. Gonna do dinner, drinks and some hot tubbing with them. ![]() Gonna run. Will check in tomorrow!

On my way out, but wanted to check in first. 160.8 this morning. Bought a new digital scale. The scale that I had been using was really hard to read. So, I broke down and bought a new one. 10 (.8) pounds to go!!

I am so happy that you two are going to join me in this challenge. It will be a hard task, but we can do it. If you get down, then we can be there to support each other. If we fall, then we will be there to pick each other back up. Hopefully Eve and Liz will be able to join us.
Betty Lou those peaches are making my mouth water. They sound so awesome. I am imagining taking a big bite and the juice running out of the corners of my mouth. Mmmmmmmmmmm. That almost sounds erotic. Better not think about peaches. ![]() About the ICD, I didn't realize they could keep up with all that stuff until yesterday. It is so unreal. Didn't realize I could get a reading to keep either. I also have a monitor at home, but will have to figure out where to put it so it won't be too close to the television. Apparantly the TV will interfere with a reading. Most of my readings wil be done while I am asleep and I HAVE to have my TV on. Drives my dh crazy . I will have scheduled readings about every 3 months where I put the mouse thingy up to the ICD.Tell your hubby . Mmmmmmmmmm cake! I would have to have some of that too. It's not like we have birthdays everyday. Thank gawd!!!Stacy, glad to hear you had a wonderful time this past weekend. Back to the real world, huh. In my opinion, there should only be two days in the week...Saturday and Sunday. Wouldn't that be cool.I know you can get down to 150. We'll be here for ya. I don't see on your stats what weight you started at, but I have read previously that you have lost quite a bit. Do you mind me asking how much you have lost? Inspire me! Your upcoming party sounds great! Oh what I wouldn't give to be in a hot tub! Lucky girl! The other day I was looking up stuff and came across a posting on another web site on someone wanting to know how to thicken a low-carb version of Zuppa Tuscana. This person didn't share the recipe with everyone, but a light bulb went off. I have made this soup for quite a few years. It is a knock off of the Zuppa Tuscana from Olive Garden. Just thought I would share it with you girls. I'm sure someone else on this site has figured out the same thing. It is probably posted somehwere, but this is my version. 1-16 oz. package of mild pork sausage 1/2 small onion (chopped) 32 oz. chicken broth 1-16 oz. package of frozen cauliflower 1 tsp. of garlic powder 1/2 tsp italian seasoning salt and pepper to taste 3 oz. heavy whipping cream Directions: 1. Place chopped onion and sausage in pan and cook until sausage is cooked through 2. Add chicken broth, cauliflower, garlic powder, italian seasoning, salt and pepper 3. Let boil and then turn to low for 30 minutes so all the seasonings meld. 4. Add cream and cook on low for 15 minutes. 5. Whala! Eat your soup! The frozen cauliflower I used was in good size chunks, so after it unfroze in the soup I took a knife and cut them in half along the side of the pan. This is NOT a thick soup. If you want to make it thicker, take some of the cauliflower and run it through a food processor. I went to thedailyplate.com and put this as one of my recipes and here is the nutritional value for the entire pot of soup: Calories: 1,926; Fat: 180g; Cholesterol: 270mg; Sodium: 2,262mg; Carbs: 26g; Sugars: 13g; Fiber: 11g; Protein: 53g 15.0 Net Carbs: whole recipe 7.5 Net Carbs: 1/2 recipe 3.75 Net Carbs: 1/4 recipe P.S. Betty Lou you posted what you ate yesterday. Do you want to start doing that since we are on this challenge? I don't mind if everyone wants to. Carrie ![]() |

Hi Everyone!
![]() Count me in on the challenge. I think I'm up for it now that the temptations of the holiday weekend are over. It sound like everyone had fun--except for that ICD zapping. Yikes! I am so happy to report that my penpal Kat is back! She was just out of town. I was so worried. That zuppa sounds terrific. I wish my kids would eat it! I have to report that my country style boneless pork ribs I made the other day were DELICIOUS! They were so easy to make, too. I slathered the boneless pork ribs with grainy brown mustard, sprinkled with paprika, topped with onion rounds and apples slices (skin on), poured on about 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, and sealed them up in foil (single file) and put in a large pan. I baked them at 350 for 1:45, then turned off the oven and let them sit for another 15 or 20 minutes. Then I took the cooked ribs and grilled them over a low gas grill for about 5 to 8 mins. per side. The ribs were moist and flavorful--they didn't taste like mustard at all! The mustard just helped convey the seasoning. Have a good evening! I have to work again tomorrow so I probably won't check in until the evening.

GOOD MORNING LADIES!
Well, today I am going to go weigh in with everyone at work. Did I tell you all about that? I don't remember. ![]() Well, if I did, I'm gonna do it again because I can't remember. We are doing the Biggest Loser at work. It started June 5 and will end November 20. First place is $600, 2nd place $200 and 3rd place is $100. Well, I plan on winning that $600 for sure. ![]() This whole process started out just to lose some weight, but my thinking has changed over this course. As I have mentioned before, I plan on choosing this as a lifestyle. My husband is seeing my progress and keeps mentioning he should lose some weight also. I don't nag him about it, but hopefully he will come around one day. I feel as if I pressure him, he will never try eating this way. He does mention though that I eat better than him and the kids. I am going to make Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner tonight and they have NO CARBS! He absolutely loves hot wings. Maybe I can win him over. He also liked the Zuppa Tuscana and the Low-Carb Pizza.Anyway, here is what I ate yesterday: Breakfast: 2 cups coffee with splenda and heaving whipping cream Lunch: roasted chicken and smashed cauliflower Snack: hardboiled egg and sugar free lemonade (should have had water) Dinner: Zuppa Tuscana and salad Evening Snack: Sugar Free Jello Water: 32 oz. I realize this isn't much water, but I have to monitor my liquid intake Net carbs: 21 |

Very nice!
I will attempt to write a post worth reading later. On our way out to Denver. I was at 158.8 this morning. Sure wish that I could lose 2 pounds a day on regular days, not just additional water weight. |

Hi Everyone!
![]() I've caught a cold so I'll be brief. I hope to get to bed a little earlier tonight. I've been too good today. I had unsweetened iced tea, hamburger patties with mustard and unsweetened dill relish, scrambled eggs, and turkey bacon. No salad. No veges. No cheese. (I know I should, but I just can't bear the thought right now. I'm beat.) I feel like I've lost weight. I'll check tomorrow and let you know. |

Stacy, congrats on your loss! Whoo Hoo! That is awesome. Hope you are having fun in Denver. I would love to get out that way one of these days and see those mountains.
Liz, sorry to hear you don't feel well. I think you did well considering you are sick. A lot of times when I am sick I don't feel like eating. Hum...... . Just kidding, I HATE to be sick. Hope you feel well soon.Well, ladies I have to share my hot wing story for you. This may end up being a little TMI so bear with me. If you can't handle gross stuff, then stop reading here. Last night I tried the recipe for hot wings. They had absolutely no carbs. They were absolutely awesome and I couldn't get enough of them. This was my downfall. Let me back up a moment.........I didn't eat a lot during the day because I knew the hot sauce would have a lot of sodium in it, so basically I was going to eat all my sodium at once. Probably not smart considering what happens next. I ate and ate and ate those darn hot wings and I felt absolutely fine. Well, let me tell you what, later on in the evening...............they came back! OMG I thought my spinxter was on fire!!! This didn't just happen once.........oh no............it happened 3 times!!! Here is the gross part. I had eaten so many hot wings that my um.......let's say......waste for a better word........was freakin' ORANGE!!! I guess I should have eaten like I normally do during the day or either NOT HAVE EATEN SO MANY DARNED HOT WINGS!! ![]() Well, I learned my lesson ladies...........eat hot wings in moderation. Just because they are small and there isn't much meat on them doesn't mean you should eat 15 hot wings. The only good thing that came out of it was losing like two pounds overnight, but I am sure that is from all the "waste". You know, who needs to take stuff for colon cleansing when you can just have hot wings!!!! ![]() Breakfast: coffee with splenda & heavy whipping cream omlet with roasted chicken, tomatoes, shredded cheese Lunch: water Snack: water Dinner: asparagus stir fry and salad MEGA amounts of hot wings Evening Snack: water Water: 40 oz. Net Carbs: 13 |

Hahaha!!! I am going on the hot wing diet starting now! I hope you are feeling better.
Well, back up to 159.8 this morning. Didn't drink enough water and we ate out all day yesterday, so it is really no surprise. Gonna make some LC meatballs tonight. Spaghetti is probably what's for dinner (Dreamfield's pasta). I am still in my robe. It is after noon. Think I should probably go shower.... |

Hello Ladies!
I'm still sick and not eating everything I should, but that could be a good thing. I weighed in this morning at 168 on the dot. I was pretty pleased as I had yo-yo'd a little between the 168.8 and 171 mark after the holiday food blitz. I've been too good, again. I had a couple of hamburger patties with mustard and no sugar dill relish. No coffee or cream. (I went to the dentist this morning and found that this was causing some tooth staining. That's the last thing I need when I have my big grin at the 150 mark. Maybe I'll give up the coffee again for good. )I plan to eat my last burger and then maybe a salad with some cheese. Carrie, the wing story is too funny. I feel your pain. I had a few nights akin to yours when I overdid the chocolate. So happy you have been so successful with your weight loss.I learned something new that might help you when you have to eat out, Stacy. I found out that KFC chicken breasts have only 1 carb when the delicious skin is peeled off. (Personally, I can't trust myself at KFC, but it might work if you have will power.) Bye for now. |

What good is KFC without the skin? Just saying...
Salad, spaghetti, fried mozzarella, red wine. Are ya jealous? I won't be this excited over it tomorrow, I'm sure. |

Well, I'm not jealous of your meal at all Stacy. Only because I am freakin' stuffed!
![]() This is the weekend my kids will be with their father, so my husband and I usually go out to eat. Sigh. Gonna have to start my count over for "days w/o cheating". I did try to stick to mostly peel'n eat shrimp though, but I could not resist the fried green tomatoes, fried clam or canteloupe. I did eat a little green stuff. I had some cabbage. I ate NOTHING hot though. Learned my lesson there.Have a great weekend! |

We will be out of town all weekend. So, I dunno how that will work out for me. I am going to make dinner at our buddy's house tomorrow night. I am thinking that should help anyway.
I think that I am PMSing already. I have bought myself cookies, candy, and just made some peanut butter truffles. I hate this time of month! |

Good luck with your weekend, Stacy! You may want to throw the sweets away. If you're like me, it's hard to stop once you start.
I've been pretty good so far today. I've had turkey sausage, turkey bacon, eggs, and diet Dr. Pepper. (I'm weening off the coffee.) Guess I'd better plan for dinner. I'm thinking that maybe I should switch to Beverly Hills for a week or so. Any thoughts on that? (It's like a fruit fast. Mangos, papayas, bananas...) Still at 168 this morning. Have a good one. Liz, hope you are feeling better. Don't knock those hamburger patties. I love them as well. Especially when they are smothered in cheese. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! I have never heard of the Beverly Hills diet, but fruit sounds fantastic!
Have fun Stacy! I hear ya about the PMSing stuff. It makes me want to eat everything i site! Think I will have chicken parmesean tonight. It is so good and so easy. We bought my son an electric guitar and a 30 watt amp today for Christmas. Of course, my husband has been "trying" to play it all afternoon. Sigh. Boys and their toys. I hate we have to wait so long to give it to my son. He is going to freak out and I can't wait to see the expression on his little face. He is 11. He has been playing around with his acoustic guitar and is starting to really get better. I'm proud of him. Especially since he has ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome. TTYL! Carrie |
