Woo-hoo!
![]() You are doing great! Wish I could say the same thing about me. ![]() So, recipe for taco dip, please.... I think that tomorrow (after DH gets home from work) we are going to the park. Gonna pack a picnic, take one of the dogs with us, go play, and watch some fireworks. I am thinking about making a buffalo chicken salad. Maybe take some cheese and grapes or something. That is our "big" plans for the weekend. There is a ride up through the Rocky Mountain National park. Dunno if we will be there or not. I need to work through the budget tomorrow before we make any decisions. I really don't enjoy paying bills. Sigh... I don't think that I have seen Revenge. I am not sure that I have even heard of it. I will definitely have to check it out. Those pics of Kevin were really neat- not to mention really hot. I am so glad that you had a good time, Betty Lou! Eve, how did you feel doing the carb cycling? I was reading an article on that. It looked quite interesting and doable. But, I am concerned that it would be difficult to go HC for whatever length of time it suggests then get back on track with LC. Paula, how are you doing? How's the motorcycle treating you? You will be amazed at how much you will learn during the class. I just wish that I had done it a lot earlier. Alrighty, time for me to pay attention to my darling now. Talk to ya later!

Happy Fourth of July everybody! (Even though it's now the FIFTH)! LOLWell, I didn't exactly eat diet food today, but I didn't eat alot, soooo, hopefully I'm "safe." I should be. I BETTER BE!!! ![]() Party/picnic was alot of fun. My taco dip was scraped to the bottom. Oh, Stacy, here's the easy recipe before I forget: 2 Eight oz. cream cheese cube things 1 Sixteen Ounce Sour Cream 2 Packages dry taco mix Put all together in bowl, mix with blender. Spread in bottom of pan 1 jar HOT chunky salsa Put a medium layer of this on top of the mixture above. Then cut up lettuce - bite size. This goes on next. 1 Package Taco Shredded Cheese. Put on the lettuce. Cut up (bite size) one tomato. Put on top of cheese. 1 can black olives. Put on top. (Not the whole can, just eye it up to what looks good). 2 bags tortilla chips. Couple of notes: I usually buy a tin foil pan....deep. Gotta be kind of deep because after layering everything, it gets pretty big. And with the tin foil pan, you can just throw it out at the party. Nothing to carry home. Tortilla chips. The no-name brands usually work best. Buy the ROUND chips. The no-names are a little thicker and scoop up the dip pretty good without breaking. The brand name chips are usually those pointy chips and pretty flimsy. They just end up cracking off and get all over the place. So, for once, NO-NAME CHEAP chips are the better buy. Also, you can make the dip part the night before and chill. But don't do the lettuce part until the next day, or maybe an hour or two before you go, because the lettuce can get alittle soggy. Not bad really, but I like crispy lettuce. LOL! And I think everybody else does too! You can cut that recipe in half if you just want to have it at home. Actually, its low low low carb, but you need the chips, so that kills THAT idea!!! Hope you guys can try it ....... it is SO GREAT to take to a picnic. I KNOW you will get alot of compliments on how good it is. Everybody always asks me to bring it when we have a party. Sooooo......back to my picnic story......had a nice time. They roasted a whole pig and also smoked/roasted a turkey. I had the pig. It was delicious! My brother in law, Barney, always makes a good smoked/roasted pig. Quite a bit of food there, but I was "decently" good. Hung out for a while, the tunes were a-goin' and people swimming in the pool, or playing horseshoes, throwing water balloons, and things like that. It was 2 of my brother in law's birthdays. Daniel, turned 49 today, and tomorrow the fifth, Wyatt turns 50. Then it is also the twin's (my neices) 11th birthday today. That is the other picnic I will be going to tomorrow.....at the Point. We stayed quite a long time, and I did have a piece of birthday cake. Then came home, changed into pants and shoes, etc., brought a coat with me, fed the dogs, etc., then went to pick my Mom up to go watch the fireworks down by the Lake. We met everybody down there (eveybody from the picnic). Oh, my God, by this time about 4 of my brothers in law were getting pretty drunk. They maintained pretty good though I have to say. It was a gorgeous night. Just slightly cool. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN ALL THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!! There were THOUSANDS. I'm not exaggerating. It's a pretty big thing in my town (Dunkirk, NY). Actually, a HUGE thing. They had doughboy stands, frenchfries, taffy, lemonade, spanish food, corn on cob, candy apples, waffles (uh-oh, I said the waffle word)! You name it, they had it. And lots of beer. The pier was packed as was Memorial Park and all along the waterfront. People had their boats decorated in red white and blue lights. There were bands playing. People with lawn chairs and blankets all over the place. People selling those lighted necklaces and things for the kids. It's pretty much like that every year, but I think due to the gorgeous weather today, it brought even MORE people out. I'm so glad my Mom went with us. She needs to go to more fun places like that. I wish her feet were better so she could walk alittle better. That's what stops her most of the time. She got fitted for braces last week, but said "F this" -- I can't walk in these! I look like Frankenstein! So, the doc is trying some other type of brace. She should get it next week. She did take her cane. She absolutely HATES that cane. She says she's not an old freakin' lady. (She's 71). She isn't your typical 71 year old. She's very modern, dresses very nice and with younger clothes. No frumpy house-coat dresses or anything. LOL. And she'd rather hang out with 40 year olds. Sooooo, all in all it was a great day. I just got done alittle while ago making my SECOND taco dip for tomorrow's birthday party. Well, I wrote a book.....time to sign off for now. (Ohhhh.......I hear "Dances with Wolves" on the televison.....got to go check out Kevy baby...)!!! ![]() Have a great weekend everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Betty Lou ![]()

Hey what's shakin
Hey gals
Sounds like you are all doing wonderful. Leading very interesting lives i should say! Thanks for the awesome pics Stacy. Your road trips sounds like a blast. Such beautiful scenery too. Betty Lou your 4th celebration sounds fantastic. I wish i coulda been there. I love the crowds and all the stands and the boats. Did you happen to take some pics? We had a quiet 4th here. I just picked up the house and read some of my book. I wanted to do more stuff outside but it was 101 degrees here. Then later when my son got home he had friends over and we lit off fireworks and the whole neighbor hood was setting theirs off too. Everywhere u turned, there was a fireworks display. They are not allowed to set them off in city limits so there were a ton of people that brought some too. It went on for hours. My poor little roxy was so scared she hid in my bedroom under the bed. I have been doing great on lc for a change. I am down to 195.6. Wow lowest since i started. Betty Lou your doing great too! Stacy your still maintaining which is great too! I love the anabolic. The only thing is it is kinda hard to switch gears back to lc after the weekend binges. But it is doable. Well i started chantix. Keep your fingers crossed that i will be a non smoker soon. I stopped for a bit in May but it was a no go. My daughter Meagan flies in tomorrow nite. I am so excited. I have not seen her in 1.5 years. Not sure what she is going to do while she is here, probably hang out with us some and then some with her friends. There is no schedule. I am on vacation till the 25th of July!!!!!! How goes it Paula!!! how is the motorcycle treating you! I bet you are having lots of fun! How was your 4th? How is the family. How is the battle going? Come on! we want to hear from you sweat pea! okay enuf for now. You gals are just da bomb. My ticket to feeling better on a blue day. Keep on a truckin and be well ![]()

I dunno what happened yesterday (this has happened a few times lately). They day starts out really well but towards the end of the afternoon- early evening- I will eat something and then don't wanna, almost even can't stop eating. Yesterday, I did keep it fairly low carb, but it really was ridiculous. I ain't even hopping on the scale.
![]() I was going through this thread last night and I noticed that when I was posting my weekly menus, I did a better job of staying on track, so today I will make out this week's menu. I am going to try to find a couple of menu items that I can cook up tomorrow that will be good to reheat. Thanks for the taco dip recipe. It looks quite tasty. Maybe I could fry up a couple of LC tortillas (or bake) to use as chips. I think that I will hold off on that for a little bit, though. ![]() Eve, I am sure that I can speak for everyone when I say, we are anxiously awaiting for Meagan to get home too. I caught myself thinking about her yesterday and hoping that when I got on here you would have updated us on her return. Take pics, lots of em, and post some of them on here. ![]() |

My My My vacation sure feels nice. No time clock and no place i really need to be. Did a few more things around the house. Worked some more on my tan. Hubby found a white mark on my back where i was trying to cover an already sunburned area and i over did it. Oh well it isn't like anyone but him is going to see it. Te he he
I finished my book! it was excellent i must say. Very gripping and sciencey. I love science. Stacy are u approaching that TOM? maybe that is y u r getting those afternoon cravings? Are you drinking your water? Drinking lots of water seems to help my cravings. Well I am pooped and ready for bed. You all have a great nite and be well. I will check in tomorrow. ![]() |

She spent a week on DE on the beach so now she is spending some quiet time. First thing she said when we got out of the airport. "I love how MT smells, it smells soooo sweet" I am glad she missed it. Maybe now she will be able to come home more often. Okay ttyl.

I am afraid to hop on the scale. Re-starting induction today. Bacon and eggs for breakfast. I will be working today. I find that I work all day without a break, then get home and I am famished. So, I will be taking my water (haven't been drinking that), I have a low carb Atkins drink (2 net carbs), a couple of ham and cream cheese pinwheels, and a small piece of lc pizza (like two or three bite size). No a lot of anything in particular, but LC stuff that I can snack on throughout the day.
Ya know, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I also hate going through induction. One of these days, I am gonna learn. ![]() I made lc pizza yesterday. On half of it, I had lc meatballs and the other half I turned into a taco pizza. Complete with lettuce, tomato, onion, and sour cream. The cold, crisp veggies work very well on the warm pizza. Haven't figured out what I want for dinner yet. I should come up with an idea so that I can take something out of the freezer for dinner. I am outta here for now. Need to get work done. I only have ten surveys to do, but there will be 5-6 hours worth of driving. I do have a "learn to speak Italian" cd. I should find it and put it in the car with me. Who knows, tomorrow I could be speaking to you in a whole new language! ![]() |

Good Evening!
I did hop on the scale this morning. 165. My own darned fault.I did really well yesterday. Had a Carl's Jr. LC burger for dinner. I have done well today also. Hopefully, the weight will begin to come back off. I have a shop tomorrow. My hubby and I get to take the train up Pikes Peak. I am really looking forward to that. It is something that I have wanted to do, but we couldn't really justify spending that money. Now, we will be reimbursed for it. ![]() My hubby is really having a difficult time at work. He hasn't been paid like he was promised, he is butting heads with the big manager over deals that happened before he got there, now he is getting griped at over those, plus the hours. You know, all those things that he was afraid of. So, we think that next Weds (after he gets his commission check for last month) he is gonna quit. Ya know what, I am really looking forward to it. It will be tough, but we will make it. Always do! He is also gonna go talk to the manager at the other car dealership, they are on good terms, to see if maybe he can come in on Saturdays for awhile and sell cars that way. We'll see. I have a motorcycle ride that I am supposed to do for my birthday. I have thought about it and decided that it probably won't happen, due to lack of funds. I called one of the guys that we ride with and asked him if it would be ok if we all get together at his condo and bbq instead. They have a pool and a hot tub at the complex. So, no ride, but I can hang with a birthday party. And, I bet I can talk his (chef) girlfriend into a birthday cake. ![]() Alrighty, got tons of paperwork to do from today. It should go pretty easy. thankfully this job is falling into place. On most days. |

Hi:
Just checking in before I hit the hay. But I'm getting a second wind and it's 11:30 pm. Darn, I hate when that happens. Well, no more weight lost this week. What the hell? Well, I could have been a teeny bit "better" I suppose. This past weekend were the 2 picnics......and the birthday cake. And today a girl at work had her 50th b-day.....another piece of cake. I was thinking.......DAMN! Now, why CAN'T we have a small piece of cake like a freakin' NORMAL PERSON???? It's not like we eat the whole damn cake. Just a little bit. And we gain. Or at least I do. What the hell is all that about? I've been walking every day, etc., and even though I don't make my entire meals all vegetables, I really don't eat that much. I'm still going for it. The scale just doesn't show it. So, here I am complaining again! Well, keep on trying that's all I can do. The scale has just GOT to go down sooner or later!!!!!!! Bike event in Niagara Falls this weekend. Hubby has his bike torn apart. Oil leaking from somewhere. So, not sure if we will go to that or not. Also, the Taste of Buffalo is this weekend. Would like to do that. Now here I am complaining, and I want to go to the Taste of Buffalo. Figure that one out?????? There's a TON of restaurant vendors. It's really a pretty fun time. I suppose we could do "lunch" there. And, it really is just a taste here and there.........well.........we'll see. If I can lose at least a pound by Saturday, then I'll go and if I put that pound back on, then ok. Oh, I'm rambling. Just thinking aloud. Next week and weekend is "Canal Fest." Lots of bands, rides, a HUGE craft show........over 400 vendors! We are DEFINITELY going to that. There's boat rides on the canal and it's just a real pretty place to go. I just love craft shows. Not that I need any more junk around here. But there's sooo many cool things. I usually buy for B-day presents, and start buying for Christmas. Then sometimes I buy for others and keep it myself!!!! ![]() ![]() Well, that's about it for now.......see ya, Betty Lou ![]() |

You know, Betty Lou, the comment about "why can't we have a piece of cake like a normal person", I have recently had that conversation with Jerrimy. It is so frustrating. I can gain weight just by thinking I want a bite or two. For my birthday, my friend wants to make me a birthday cake. My daughter also wants to make me a cake. Already dreading the scale. So, two small pieces of cake is what I will put on my plate, I will make sure that everyone sees me take a couple of bites, then my plate will end up in my husband's hands so that he can finish the cake. It has worked well for us in the past.
![]() I have done well this week with eating. I do not know why the scale is not moving. 164. We did eat at a BBQ place last night. I didn't have BBQ sauce, but there is still no telling what all was in the dinner, I suppose. Made some Cleo rolls yesterday. So I turned two of those into French toast this morning and had some bacon. Yummy! We went to the top of Pikes Peak on the cog railway yesterday. It was a beautiful day. Great trip. Betty Lou, I wanna come out there and go on some of the rides with you. Sounds like fun. Our next ride is on the 19th. It is called, "The Ride That Killed Kenny." We are gonna ride out to South Park and around the area. I am going to take my own bike. It is going to be about a 400 mile long day trip. My butt is going to hate me. Ok, gotta put my day together so that I can get going. Talk to ya later! Last edited by jswalker1992 : 07-10-2008 at 08:05 AM. |

Happy Birthday Stacy! Have fun on your day, whatever you decide to do! And remember........you get to do and get to say whatever you want that day! It's ALL YOURS!!!!! That's a rule a few of my friends have with birthdays. We have a blast with it! And I really DO say what I feel!!! Piss a few people off, I'm sure, but it's all in fun. And eat the whole piece of cake too......!!! It's your birthday and your cake!!!
![]() ![]() If it was somebody else's birthday, then ok, give hubby half. But on your day, GO FOR IT!!!!! That would be cool to get together and go on one of the runs, or just cruise! Hey, I'm not going to go on "The Ride That Killed Kenny." NO WAY!!!!!!!!! THAT'S MY HUSBAND'S NAME!!!!! HAHAHAHA!!! ![]() ![]() So, I'll stay away from THAT one, thank you very much! ![]() ![]() I hear ya about the scale staying the same. That's what I was just b*tching about! It's sooooo frustrating!!!!!!!! Eventually it WILL come off, probably when we least expect it........then it'll definitely pick up our mood for a week or so. I really never had this much "trouble" losing weight in the past. Meaning, I lost it faster. But I'm sure it's my age. I'm freakin' 50 years old.......I can't believe that I'm even saying that age! Honest to God, I don't even feel like what I used to think 50 should feel like. That just sounds way too old. Well, I guess it is, huh??????? I feel ..... oh.....about 35. And believe me, this hair is not EVER going to be that frumpy gray old lady curly short hair!!!!! Hahahaha!!! Eve, I wanted to mention about the Chantrix. That really, REALLY works. My sister in law was on it for about 6 weeks. That was about 6 months ago. She has absolutely no desire whatsoever to smoke. Ok, every once in a while when we're drinking she'll ask for one of my cigs. She take one puff/hit whatever, and puts it out. Reminds her of how much she really doesn't want to smoke. I have another friend at work that just used the Chantrix. It took her a few weeks longer. And she is a person who really enjoys her cig. It's been 9 weeks, and she also has no desire. She is very surprised at how much she does NOT want to smoke. I think it does something to the mind. Not hormones, maybe endorphines or something. But whatever it does, it seems to work really good. Soooooo.....GOOD LUCK with the no smoking. I wish you all the luck in the world to stop. Also, Eve........glad to hear your having fun with your daughter. I bet you guys are really living it up........especially with you being on vacation. Yea, I love the "not knowing what time it is, or what day it is" feeling. It's great! Enjoy the rest of it, you deserve it with all the long hours your put in! Once again, Stacy......-------> ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ok guys, that's all for now.........talk to you later, Betty Lou ![]() |

That sounds really good. Thanks for the idea.
I have until the 20th to figure out what it is that I want. Today my daughter was asking me what I want. I had told her that whatever she wants to make is fine. Maybe I will have to change that. Is it on the site somewhere? I believe I have a Dana Carpenter cookbook. Then again, I have so many cookbooks, I could be mistaken.I had a pretty HC dinner. Our daughter cooked for us. It was very nice of her to do that. Appreciated it. She looked all over the internet to find a healthy dinner. And it was healthy, just not lc. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I have stew meat thawing for tomorrow's dinner. Any crockpot ideas? I would love to throw it together before work tomorrow and let it go. |

Long time to see
Hellooooooooo
How are all you badass ladies doing! I sure miss ya. I am having a wonderful time. I can not remember wearing flip flops this many days in a row! I got my toenails painted all pretty (courtesy of my dd) Thankfully she left all her nail tech stuff here. Don't worry, I knew you all would want to see them! So i took pics! We have been on the boat quite a bit and tomorrow we are going to try out our new pull tube. Owning a boat is expensive!!!! I had no clue how expensive it would be. I am so glad we bought used and don't have a brand new boat payment! Could you imagine!!!! We went 4 wheeling and have been shopping and going out for dinner and boating and going to movies and i think we have only spent one day at home! I am glad i took another week off just for me! I am not getting anything done here at all! 2nd week of chantix and already i am down to only 4 cigies per day if that many. They taste like cardboard. Oh and let me tell you about the vivid dreams too! Thankfully they have been good dreams. Otherwise i don't feel any other side effects. So far so good. I have to confess though my eating has been pretty crappy. Eating very high carbs. I have not been on the scale and not sure i want to at this point. Chantix does not help with the food cravings at all. I know i have gained though cuz of the way my clothes feel. I am not going to worry or frett over it. I just think quiting smoking will be best for me in the long run, and then to work on the weight as my cravings chill. So thats all the news i have. Stacy you are looking so slim standing next to the Pike's peak sign. LOL i love the that name of that run re: Kenny. I don't blame you for not wanting to go on it Betty Lou. Great job ladies on your weight loss and maintaining it! My hat is off to ya! Okay will be posting some pics soon Hugs and ttly. |

Hey Stranger!
So glad that you are having a great time! We are there with ya in spirit partying with you guys! ![]() ![]() Don't worry too much about the scale right now. Mine says 165. I started and I have been eating bad. Too include a big ol greasy burger with bun today. Sigh... I ordered a book from Amazon. Wendy Chant Crack The Fat Loss Code. Gonna give that a whirl starting next week. I hope that the book comes in quick. Excited to read it. My birthday is on Sunday, the 20th. I am looking forward to it. Gotta be in a swimsuit, so I have been telling myself I need to be careful with what I eat. It hasn't worked. Lol! I will be sure to have lots of pics taken. Hopefully there won't be too many good blackmail ones of me. ![]() |
