That dinner looks DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't even know what a TURNIP is!!!!!!!! ![]() I don't think we have 'em up here!!!!!!! hahahaha! Well, we must, but who knows. Seriously, what is a turnip? Like a potato? Or more like a veggie? Ok, I'm a dumb blonde. ![]() Wanted to mention to you guys that on Monday, Hubby and I went to the mall. For dinner we went to Red Lobster. I had the Rock Lobster Tail. Oh my God was that ever tasty! I had a salad and 1 roll with that. So, I did stay within limits. I even brought part of the lobster home and had it the next day. So, now, I GOTTA HAVE MORE LOBSTER! I've never cooked it, or whatever the hell you do with it, at home. Always only had it in restaraunts. And FOR SURE I'm not going to bring home a live lobster and boil him to death! I don't have the heart. Besides, did you ever see what's inside of the entire Lobster? UGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! ![]() That's why I eat the tails only! So, I think I'll have Ken go to the meat place and get some. Sometimes they have them, sometimes not. Then I'll have to figure out how to make it. I think boil it, and then a short time in the broiler. I also wanted to mention 2 things for the sweet tooth. Very low calorie. Ice cream sandwich: Whole Graham cracker. Cut in half. Put in a couple nice-sized blobs of low-fat cool whip in the middle. Wrap it, or put in baggie. Freeze. It's really great! The cool whip is low carb, but not quite sure what the graham cracker is. Either way, it is low calorie. And quite a bit more low calorie than a real ice cream sandwhich. Also.........don't forget about the simple sugar-free popscicles. I just had a cherry one. 4 carbs. 15 calories. Not bad for a sweet treat and quenches the ol' taste-buds! See ya later! Betty Lou ![]()

I bought some low carb vanilla ice cream today. And some SF chocolate and SF strawberry topping for it. Gonna have me some dessert here in a little bit. I have been jonesing for ice cream.
A turnip is a root veggie. Very good for ya. Turnip - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Wikipedia knows everything. Lol! You can use these to make fries out of. My husband tonight said that the scalloped turnips were the best potato sub we have had yet. Lobster- broil, grill, sautee, bake- whatever you can think of. Check out cooks.com, they have lots and lots of recipes to choose from.

Thanks for the link Stacy! Sounds like something I'd like to try! Fries? Now we're talkin'!!!!!!!!
I just wrote a note to hubby (he's sleeping already.....he gets up at 3:30 a.m.) to check out the Lobster tomorrow. Will let you know how it turns out! I can't believe how much I have been cooking lately! It's not too bad!!! Hahahahaha!!! Only down-side is, is the time it takes to do it. Keep the recipes coming.....! I'm hungry when I get home from work (5:00), and need to eat by 6:00. If it takes longer than that, then I am starving and want to scarf everything down. And I get pissy. LOL! Betty Lou ![]() |

I am gonna have a super busy work day tomorrow. I plan on throwing a beef roast in the crock pot with a jar of pepperocini's. I will eat it like that, leftover scalloped turnips and have a salad. The kids will probably throw their roast on bread. It is very good!

You girls make me laugh
Another good thing about this thread. They say laughter is the best medicine. So keep em coming. Hey Stacy, you hubby is such a good sport. Trying the low carb stuff with you and all. That is really sweet. Gonna have to try those turnips. I have to be honest, i have heard of them before but never seen one or tasted one. I heard they taste like dirt. I will give em a shot. I need to be a little bit more diversified with what i am eating. I am getting into a rut and we know ruts r the kiss of death on any nutrition plan. OMG that steak looked so good!!!! What! are u trying to send me over the edge. Sits here eating a pork rind. Oh yummy! not. Hahahahah oh well. And lobster tail. My absolute favorite dunked in lots of rich melted butter. Actually i went to my gal pal's house to help her hang some pictures and curtains. We didn't get much done except for bs'n and had a couple beers. Miller lite is i think only 3 carbs per can. She cooked me supper and made baked chicken, and a salad that was yummy. So i have done really well today. Had eggs and bacon and two slices of lc toast. later 2 truffles and that was it. Need to finish off my water and I am good. I have had heartburn all dang day! I rarely get heartburn. Wonder what caused it. I started doing some beading. Got out my pattern books and then watched a certain stitch on youtube. I absolutely love youtube. I am making a bracelet for who knows what. It is black and copper seed beads and then i will embelish it with some tiger's eye. I think black and tan looks great together. Sounds like you r doing excellent Betty Lou. lol I have a blonde joke to tell you. This blonde gets pulled over by a blonde cop. The cop asks the driver for her driver's license. She looks around and looks around and finds a compact with a mirror. and she exclaims "Here it is!" The blonde cop takes the compact and looks into into it and replies "Ma'am you should have told me you were a cop." "You can be on your way." ![]() It is great getting to know you girls. Take care ![]()

![]() That's funny!! I like that, will have to pass it on!A turnip has a crunch like a potato, and a bite and taste kind of like a radish. After you peel and cut the turnip to desired shape and size, you can soak it it cream for a little bit (or boil it in water and cream for about 3 minutes) and it will help take the bite away. Smaller turnips are milder than bigger ones. You might as well give it a whirl. If you like it, then there is a new veggie for you, if you don't like it, then you know not to do it again. ![]() I cook LC for everyone in the family. Not many nights, but some I will cook HC food for them while I do leftovers. And sometimes, like last night, I will add potato or corn or whatever to the dinner for them. Last night, they got twice baked potatoes. I am actually down half a pound today. 160.5. I was quite surprised. I did keep everything LC yesterday, did not finish everything on my plate, but beef sits heavy on me, so I was actually expecting the worst. And I did have a little ramekin of ice cream with SF hot fudge, a few peanuts, and a little whipped cream. It was good! Eve, it sounds like you are having a great time making the jewelry. I can use a new bracelet (hint hint) You know, in talking with the other gals on here, it sounds like they do too. It sounds like you had a fun time at your friend's house yesterday. Hanging curtains is always dangerous- leads to beer everytime!Betty Lou, I think that I had a dream with lobster in it last night. Let us know how it turns out. I think that I will be looking to buy some for us sometime soon. I have some scallops wrapped in bacon in the freezer that I need to grill up. Lobster tail with that sounds awesome! |

Yes Stacy, hanging curtains can be dangerous. But it was so much fun. That sundae sure sounded yummy. I like ice cream once in awhile. Not a huge fan of it, but when i want it it is delicious. If it has chocolate in it, then it is even better. Ohhh What are leftovers?
Actually, I am so terrible about doing leftovers. I tried to get my family to eat them and forget it. They would not comply so i have gotten out of the habit of using them. With the cost of everything going up, i really should make the effort again. I meant to get some turnips today but i forgot. Instead i bought a bunch of flowers!!!!! I just love flowers and planting them and tending them. I will have to take a pic when everything is in bloom. LOL, what kinda bracelet are u thinking of? I know Betty Lou has a B-day coming up soon. When is your B-day Stacy? Tell you what, let me get a few of em done and then i will take some pics and you can tell me what ones you like. Is there a certain color scheme you want? Wonders where Pauline and Justine got off to? It has been such along time since we have heard anything from them. Hope all is well with them Ohhhh what do you call cheese that does not belong to you?????? "Nacho Cheese" hahahahahhahah ![]() Okay Betty Lou, did your hubby get the lobster? I would love to hear how they turned out. I worked in a seafood place once and we steamed and boiled stuff. OMG i never saw so much old bay seasoning used in all my life. This is when i lived in DE and they would get local crabs. I can not see how anyone can eat a softshell crab sandwich Been sticking to my plan. Feeling lighter and less fluffier. I won't know till i weigh in on Saturday how well I am doing. It was so sunny today, I am starting to get over the blahs. No wonder people in Seattle get depressed. I could not live in a place where there is not much sunshine. Okay later you cuties. I have to go work out yet. I am on my 3 day stretch so probably wont post till Sunday evening. They just wear me out. |

Hi!
I don't get the blonde joke. So, they were both cops? ![]() JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT IT, I GOT IT!!!! That's a good one! ![]() Some of those jokes are so stupidly funny!!! Thanks for the laugh!!!!!!Honest to God, I DO HAVE A LIFE, but tonight I washed my car. Looks soooo nice and shiney. Did the windows inside and out too. I have a Pontiac Bonneville......deep navy/slate metallic. Chrome mags. Supercharged engine.....fast! Looks so nice when it's all shiney. Honestly, I really DO do more than clean! Hahahahaha! But anyway, that's what I did tonight...... Ken picked up 2 lobster tails. $45.00 for 2 twelve ounce. I didn't think it was going to be THAT expensive!!! But that's ok, I really want it. I didn't make it tonight though, because my Mom called me at work and said she just made some stuffed peppers, and if I wanted to swing by after work and pick them up. SURE!!!!!!!!!!!! So, all I had to do when I got home was pop them in the oven for an hour. That was sooo nice! Tomorrow we will have the lobster. I can't wait! And yes, I'm going to dip it in real butter! (Calories.....oh well). We'll have a nice salad with that too. The guy at the meat place said to rub lightly some olive oil on top, then broil for 15 minutes. He also recommended the grill, but I'm just going to do the oven broiler for my first attempt at making these. The good thing is, is that Ken doesn't like lobster.......SO THEY ARE BOTH MINE!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() I'll have the lobster and maybe I'll make him a ham sandwich. KIDDING!!!! He'll have a steak. I've got 2 parties to go to this weekend. On Saturday night, there's a "Bikes & BBQ" in one of the bars in town. 4:00 bike show, then 5:00 chicken bbq, then party and band the rest of the night. I haven't drank in a while, so I'll probably get to really feeling good after 3 or 4 beers only! And I just KNOW we'll get into the shots! I'm sure I'll feel like big-time crap on Sunday! Hubby will ask........"was it worth it?" And I will say a definite big YES!!! ![]() I'm sure I'll get HAPPY FEET and start dancing too. Still gotta watch my back. I don't want to screw it up. Even though my surgery was 7 years ago, I still have to always be careful. Eve, I drink Miller Lite too. Love it. Actually, my first love is Miller High Life. I will definitely have one or two of those......get the full flavor. Then switch to Miller Lite. I just checked and the Miller Lite only has 96 calories and 3 carbs (so you were right with the carbs). Miller High Life has 141 calories and 14 carbs. So, the carbs is quite a big difference. Eh, after a few I won't care what the hell I'm drinking!!! ![]() Then on Sunday, at 1:00 p.m. we have a 50th birthday party to go to for my friend, Candy. They are having it at a campgrounds, so that'll be fun. Always fun at an outside party, ya know? Then back to work on Monday. Darn.........no time for recouperation!!! ![]() Eve, the jewelry sounds like fun. I love jewelry. I also buy alot from craft shows as I like some of the unusual stuff. I like shiney things. Boy I have alot of jewelry. You're not going to believe what I keep my jewelry in. My girlfriend told me this idea about 15 years ago and it works great! I keep it in a nails/nuts and bolts tool thingy! Yep. It's plastic and has all these little clear compartments for guys nails and all that little stuff. I have 2. I have it divided by earrings/necklaces rings and gold and silver, and then colored stuff. And since it's clear, you can see what's what. Eve, I bet you could use one of those for all your beads and supplies! They were only about $10.00 at Walmart. It's very compact and doesn't take alot of room, yet you can fill it with all kinds of little stuff. I bet you'd like that!!! Stacy, that's great that you are down a 1/2 pound! YAY! Especially since you thought the scale might have read alittle higher. Wonder why steak does that to you? Well, we all have something, I guess. Mine seems to be EVERYTHING though! LOL!!! Hope you weren't too busy at work like you thought you were going to be. Now that I've read alittle on what you do, it really sounds interesting, and you definitely meet alot of people! Eve, are you still in the 190's? That's great that you are under that freakin' 200 mark! Now I've got to catch up with you guys! This morning read 200 still......so I can almost safely say that I'm 200. I've got a couple mini-challenges to myself in mind. My first one is to lose a few (hopefully 5......but we'll see), by my birthday which is June 18th. (That's gonna be another party time........big time........will tell ya about that later). I'll be 50. UGHHHHHHHHH! I don't feel like what I thought 50 would be like! I feel more like 35. Anyway, that's my first mini-challenge. Then my second is........a few more pounds (5 maybe?) by July 4th. I wonder if it IS possible to lose 10 by July 4th. You guys want to do 10 pounds by July 4th? Let's try! Oh my God, then Stacy, you will be at your 150! I do know it's harder to get off the closer you get to goal.......that would be great!!!!!! So, who actually lost 15??? (end of May challenge). I kinda unofficially did. The reason I say unofficially is because, while I DID lose 15 pounds, I had already lost 5 pounds before I joined this board. So, I lost 10. What does yours calculate out to be? This is a pretty long post here, hope it's not TOO boring! ![]() ![]() Going to get my clothes out of the dryer now. See ya and have a great night! Betty Lou ![]() |

lol, i have two of those organizers already. They are full of thread and sewing stuff. But, that is an excellent idea for jewelry. My little jewelry box is all messed up. Necklaces getting tangled and all. Hmmmmm now thats a plan.
I will keep a six pack of miller lite on the boat on ice for ya Betty Lou. Cheers!! Sounds like you have a wonderful weekend planned. I hope you get to relax before going back to work. LOL what is that? ![]() I am just lookin for that lc pizza recipe. Going to make it before i hit the hay so i can take it to work tomorrow. Yep i am still in the 190's. Wont know for sure if i lost the 15 yet till Saturday morning. I have a feeling i didn't though. And yesssssss, I am always up for another challenge. I am even thinking of doing the couch to 5k since it will be warming up ANY DAY NOW. Stacy, you think you can make it to the 150's by Saturday? I myself have been unloading water all day. Goodness gracious, how many times can a person go! ![]() Okay gotta get that pizza done. Toodle lou |

Well, I didn't hit the 15 mark, sorta. I gained 10 and lost 15, does that count? Lol! I should be in the 150's by this weekend. I sure hope so anyway. I have been sticking to the LC, so we shall see.
10 by July 4? I'm with ya! ![]() Worked my tail off today. I had to measure and diagram a house worth $736,000! Dunno if I did it right, or not. I guess we will find out when the company sends it back to me, or not. I tell you what, it was a huge pain in the butt. I did get my exercise walking around that puppy, though!Got another super busy day tomorrow. But, I will be able to take the weekend off, so it's all good. ![]() I wanna go to the Bikes & BBQ with you, Betty Lou. I love events like that. They are always a blast! Eve, my birthday is July 20. You know what I just realized, if I work hard enough, I will be at goal for my birthday this year! How exciting! BTW, the turnips warmed up great in the microwave! Yippeeeeeeeee
Hurray!!! huge hug to u Stacy!
You broke out into the 150's. I knew you could do it. Way to go I guess all our nagging paid off huh? JK. I know you did this all on your own. I am so happy for you! Oh i know what you mean about being addicted to this thread. I have to check it out even when i say I am not going to. lol Maybe i am just a nosey b @#*&![]() Oh well i can think of worse things to be addicted to. Nothing much going on today. I did my 12 hour + shift and came home. I am so tired when i get home. I am praying for a second wind, cuz i have to work out yet. DH was out getting the garden plot ready and turning over the compost pile. He mowed yesterday and weed eat'd today. I love the smell of fresh mown grass. Everything is so green. I love the evenings when the sun is setting and there is no wind. I can see the horses in the pasture and everything is gilded in gold. The creek is running higher and i can hear it babbling. Sighs. It is so peaceful. Okay enough of that. I stayed lc today and drank a ton of water. I have a water drinking contest with one of my co-workers. It helps me make sure i get all my water. Had a cramp in my calf today. It didn't last very long and it was mild. I think i forgot my vitamins last nite. Have to remember to take those. Okay you all be well. I weigh in tomorrow bright and early. I will post what it is at around 0430. Again, i am so thrilled that you got to the 150's Stacy. What an accomplishment. I bet you feel so proud. That gives me more incentive to try harder! |

I didn't make the 15 pounds either, but I am not gonna quit. 159 this morning. It is all good.
I was going to sleep in today. The phone rings at 7:30, my daughter was late for work. So, I got up to check on her and she was still in bed. Got her up and as I am going back to bed, my husband's alarm is going off. I climb back into bed, snuggle in (knowing that he doesn't have long til he has to get up), then my stomach started hurting. So, I got up. I made breakfast for my hubby and myself. I enjoy starting the day out with him like that. ![]() I still need to put my paperwork in from yesterday. It will take me a bit to do, but it shouldn't be too bad. I have had time to decompress from yesterday. The job itself is not too difficult. But, man, I don't know if it is always worth it. Yesterday I went to a house that is literally up in the mountains. Roads with jagged rocks. Roads that were not marked. I almost hit a deer that jumped out in front of me. It took me an hour to find this house. I called my manager and asked for a pay bump. She gave me a little one. Nothing to write home about. Once I found the house, I did the job, no problem. Then I asked the owner the quickest way down the mountain. After a minute of instruction, I was on my way. The way he sent me was so easy. I was off the mountain in less than 10 minutes- no 4-wheel driving involved. It was just frustrating. Especially since that was the beginning of the day still.Alrighty, maybe I should get to work on that so that I can get it done and then I can play on the net. ![]() |

Hi!
Bad news for me.......I'm up like 3 pounds......!!!!! WHY???????????? Unbelieveable! And I've been doing so good. Lobster was good yesterday.......boy the shell looks is way bigger than the meat inside! It was soooo tasty.......and I also tasted alot of SALT. Obviously, since they are salt-water creatures. So, I'm hoping it's some water retention from the salt. DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And today I had planned on going a little overboard with tonight's party......the drinking and chicken barbeque. CRAP!!! Gotta do some stuff around here, then jump in the shower. It was raining all night and might rain later. Right now the sun is trying to peek out. I hope it gets nice, for the party's sake. See ya all later! Betty Lou ![]() |

I am sure that it is just the salt. Drink your water (and a little more) and it should come off in no time! Have fun, go ahead and indulge a little. Hop right back on track tomorrow. Remember, a day off every now and then is good for you!

How have you girls been doing? I am just very tired. Carb load is over as of tonight and it is back to the grindstone.
Glad your still in the 150's Stacy. Your job sounds fun but also frustrating. Do you have a gps to help you find some of these houses? Do you have to dress up for your job? Sounds like as much trekking you do, you should wear work boots and carharts. Good to hear that you enjoyed the lobster tail. Sounded yummy. I hope you had good weather for your weekend pursuits. Did you have fun? Did you dance you little legs off? There is an interesting article in GoodHousekeeping Mag June 2008 regarding walking off the pounds. Since you love to walk i thought you mite enjoy it. They show before and after pics too. I love before and after pics. I am sure the 3 lbs is just salt. It takes longer to put on 3 lbs of fat. Keeping our fingers crossed that we can get a slip at the marina. It would be wonderful to just get off work on a Thursday evening and shoot down to the boat and just hang out there all weekend. I should know by tomorrow if we have the slip. Otherwise we would have to tow it each time and thats a ton of gas!!!!! Okay girls i need wrist sizes and you have to pick out 3 to 4 colors of beads you want your bracelets done in. Rite now I am doing a cream, copper and black one in a zig zag pattern. I have one started that is black charcoal and silver in a box type design. So chop chop and let me know cuz i need to get em done by you birthdays. And don't worry that it is too much trouble cuz with quiting smoking, i need to keep my hands busy doing something i enjoy okay? okay i am going to weigh in tomorrow to assess the carb loading damage and will let you know what it is. Have a wonderful evening and hope to hear from you all soon. Be well |

ohhh my car is a subaru impreza RS. Very sporty with a supertrapp exhaust. Very loud and growly. Dark tinted windows. Very low profile Falken tires and graphite wheels. It is suppose to be white but it is brown rite now.
![]() everytime i try to wash it, it rains. At nite you can't see who is driving it and all these teenagers cruisin in town always try to race us. Kinda funny, if they only knew there was a middle aged lady behind the wheel ![]() Rain Rain Rain!!! I think Montana has officially moved to Seattle. |

This morning, I weighed 161.
I ate a bit yesterday, kept it low carb- but in thinking about it, I think that I really overdid the dairy. So, guess what I did today? The same darn thing. Now, that I have that in mind, tomorrow I can work on fixing it. Also, we went for a ride today, so I should be up tomorrow. Always seem to retain water during long motorcycle rides.Found a ranch dressing recipe online (I think on George Stella's site) that is to die for! It tastes like the "homemade restaurant" stuff. Super good. I really overdid that tonight. Made salad very appealing. ![]() Aside from that, nothing much is going on. I am whooped. I hope that I will be able to get some rest tonight. I need it. Eve, it sounds like you are enjoying making the jewelry. That is neat. I need to find me a hobby. I have been thinking that a lot lately. I need something to help be unwind. I wanna take the time to get back to learning Italian. I was really getting into that, then life gets in the way. If I were smart, I would go to work tomorrow, but I am just not feeling it right now. And, yeah, I do have to dress in slacks for it. I don't mind that so much. I do use my GPS for work. A lot! That was my saving grace the other day on the mountain. I gotsta gets back on track tomorrow. I wanna be smokin hot sooner rather than later! |

Okay so far here is the skinny! ha ha ha little pun there. Done with carb loading and now back to the lc. I am in such a good mood. I got to sleep in and i have today and tomorrow off. Going to see what i can get accomplished. I see the sun is finally out today! So looks like i will be in the garden. Need to finish planting some flowers and get my tomato plants in. My strawberries have just taken over half of the garden. Should have fresh ones here pretty soon. My darling pet, Lukapello (whom just died this last January) used to love going in the garden with me and eating strawberries. He was such a funny little guy. Pets are so special. They just get into the little places of your heart and become embedded there.
I was at 203.6 today. So don't feel bad Betty Lou. I hope to be at 195 or less by Saturday morning. Are we doing another challenge? Say 15 by end of June? or maybe 10? Let me know what we are doing for a challenge. Well i best get busy here. See where the day takes me. I can't put off weight training any longer hahahahah |
