Been super busy today. So this is just a quick hello! 166 this morning. DH made dinner. Grilled chicken, homemade mac and cheese, loaded broccoli. Overdid it- but it was GOOD!

Worked hard on my report for the new job. Turned it in. Hope it is right!

Tomorrow, DH signs a contract with the insurance agency. After that, he can start selling. Which is great, he has several people ready to buy from him!

I will absolutely sit down tomorrow and make my post worth reading!

oopsy!

Yipes! Betty Lou is going to read all our back posts! I hope i didn't cuss or something like that. Ummmm err if i did, it is because Stacy made me do it.

Hang in there Stacy. I have complete confidence that u will make your goal weight no later than May. Glad u got your homework turned in. Hope u get an A+. Congrats on your dh starting his new career. Just in time huh? Once things settle down for you, I am sure u will be able to concentrate on getting yourself back on track with the diet.

Sorry to hear about your mom Betty Lou. Neuropathy can be a bugger to live with. I will talk to one of the therapists at work and see if passive range of motion would benefit your mom. I know we use that and massage to help prevent contractures on some of our stroke patients. I will let you know. BTW glad u stuck to your diet! Way to go girl

Hey Justine I hope u aren't working too hard! Sucks when everyone goes on vacation and your the one stuck at work. Hopefully it will be your turn to take some time off too! How is your diet going?

Paula, sure do miss ya. Hope all is well with you

I stayed on task today. Was craving chocolate like mad but, i ate some cheese and summer sausage and it went away. Drank my water but i don't think i had enough. It was a good day and i worked chest with weights and got alot done around the house

Hi ladies

How has your day been going? What is loaded broccoli?

got out of bed and decided to work out first. I got on my eliptical for 20 minutes and then i worked arms and abs. lol practiced some belly dancing moves. Let me tell you that is not a sight that anyone wants to see. But, when i am skinny watch out! I will make those camel bells shake and shimmy like nobody's business. I know I am a little crazy, but least i am a fun harmless crazy. So anyways I made some tuna fish with light mayo and some pickle relish. I added some splenda because i prefer miracle whip, and splenda makes it taste like miracle whip sorta. So made myself a tuna sandwich using one slice of lc bread and a slice of chedder cheese. I have been really watching my portions. Trying to eat no more than the size of my palm at one sitting. I think it is working because that sure filled me up. Got an early start on drinking my water and i have it by my side. Going to jump in the shower and do a little grocery shopping. Need more to go containers for work. Coming back and making those cleo rolls again. I love those things. I ate some low carb chocolate and it was icky Guess i will just go with out and just have some on rare occasions. That will make it more special. Goodness i feel so jazzed up. That workout really fired me up. Alas the scale has not moved. Stuck at 195lbs. What can i expect when i cheat here and there though. oh well i will keep trying.

Catch u ladies later. Hope u all are having successful days. Looking forward to your posts. Take care and be well

Hi Eve, I found you ok. Tell me what are Cleo Rolls? Are they sweet rolls?
Eve I know I am doing terrible on my low carb but it has not always been that way. I did real well when when I first began on it years ago but I had some major health problems and was in the hospital for a long time and then another couple years recuperating and it messed up my whole way of eating. I had lost 100 lbs. before my hospitalization. I still have aroyund 50 -60 more I want to lose but just cannot seem to find my way back for some reason.
I followed Atkins before and it worked so well and I loved the food I was eating, the meats and veggies and eggs and cheeses, all that good stuff. Bit now I am just having a hard time sticking to it for any length of time and don't know why. I guess I just like to eat thats all.
My health really depends on me losing all this weight.
If I did it once and stick to it for two years or longer I can do it now, I just know I can.

Thank you for inviting me here to join you all.. Will check back in later ok. Time for my hubby to get in and I get off the computer when he is home so we can spend time together.
Will see you tomorrow ok.

Hi all u lovely ladies

Still feelin euphoric today. My that was some workout. So glad u found us Mary. Welcome with open arms I hope we can help u in your wt loss success. We certainly will try. Sounds like u have had a rough go the last few years. U must have some awesome inner strength to still remain positive and not wanting to throw in the towel. Hopefully we can draw on some of that indominatable spirit of yours as a group. Oh those cleo rolls are really called Cleochatra's revol-oopsy rolls i think. Not sure i have the name rite but i can give u the recipe.

3 large eggs-separate the yolks and whites
3 oz of cream cheese keep cold
1 packet of splenda
dash of salt
pinch of cream of tartar

mix yolks, splenda, salt and cream cheese until smooth

beat whites and cream of tartar till stiff

fold in the yolk mixture to the whites, don't beat

spoon onto greased cookie sheet 6 drops et flatten a little. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. let cool and store in air tight container.

U can use them as bread. They are very low carb. I used two for hamburger buns then later i had strawberry shortcake with one. It was soooo yummy.

I think i have kept it under 28 grams of carbs today. Drank my water and feelin pretty fine! have to watch my survivor show and then CSI then i have to get into bed.

Stacy, I made those blue cheese burgers but i used gorgonzola cheese instead and i forgot sour cream so i had to use cottage cheese. They look and smell awesome but lol all my stuffing was oozing out while they were cooking. I am taking one to to work with me tomorrow. I haven't tried one yet.

How is it going Betty Lou? I imagine u had to work today huh? Are u off for the summer like the teachers are?

Well gotta go watch my programs.

Good Evening Ladies!

Well, just got done with dinner. Chicken fried steak, rice and gravy, and spinach. Not very low carb, huh? I totally went for the comfort food tonight. Actually, I went with what was in the fridge and freezer cuz I am trying to stay out of the stores. Trying to keep the wallet closed as much as possible.

DH and I went to the insurance place today so that he could sign a contract with them to get things moving. He also had to apply for his state licenses while there (he passed the tests, now had to do the licenses.) Another $220 out of the pocket. THEN, the gal told him that the training that he needs to participate in with them won't take place until mid month- MAY! He is out of a job in two days. Big mess. But, they will send his paperwork into the main office and will give him a crash course in policy writing, so he will be able to actually start writing policies. That will be in about two weeks, though. Super big headache.

I may have to fall off the wagon for a little bit. LC is not cheap, and right now we can use as cheap as possible. I won't go anywhere, I will still be here. So, ANY cheap low carb ideas you have and can pass on to me, would be greatly appreciated.

Tomorrow I need to make a list for the kids and the husband for while I am gone. I know that they will be fine without me, but I want to make sure that I will be fine when I get back and not be overwhelmed with too much crap that should have been taken care of.

Wow! If I have made any of you feel like you need a drink so that you can make it through my day, I apologize! My life is great, I am just unloading.

Eve, loaded broccoli is my favorite!! All you do is throw your baked potato toppings on broccoli. Butter, sour cream, bacon, cheese, chives. It's all good! I have everyone in the house eating it. Also, the next time I make the family twice baked potatoes, I am going to make one extra for myself. Yup, I am gonna scoop as much of the pulp out as possible (extra for their potatoes) and stuff the shells with cauliflower mash- loaded up just like their potatoes are. I figure the carbs are in the pulp as opposed to the skin, so I can eat that and maybe get more of the potato taste that I sometimes want. What do you think?

Hello all!

Well, just got home a few hours ago.....took my Mom for another 3 month check up at the Cancer Hospital. The doctor said all is good and will see her again in another 3 months. That is the BEST news of the day! We are so happy and relieved too. Those check-ups are soooo stressful, as of course, we always want good news!

Eve, I haven't read any back posts yet.....hopefully over the weekend I'll be able to. I don't mind if I read any cussing! I've definitely used a few words over the years! And thank you in advance for asking around about the passive range of motion thing. I'm not sure I know what that is, but if it even helps alittle bit, I will definitely have my Mom try it!

The cleo rolls sound delicious! I'll have to try them. Sometimes I get stuck in a "chicken rut" and it gets sickening! LOL!

You guys, I have to tell you about making an omelet. You boil it in a plastic baggie! Now, maybe you have heard and/or even tried it, but it's a first for me! It's so easy, and best of all, efficient!

I usually make only ONE egg for myself with cheese and ham, but the "recipie" is actually for 2 eggs. You put 2 eggs, cheese, ham.....or whatever you want......(veggies perhaps), in a plastic slider baggie. Make the omelet like you usually would. Get a pot of boiling water going. Put the egg mixure in the baggie.....zip it up.....get all the air out......and boil for EXACTLY 13 minutes. In 13 minutes, you have a nice, tasty omelet that slips right out of the bag. It really works and tastes good!

The reason I like this is because you can make them the night before, and then in the morning, while you're getting reading for work (or wherever), it is cooking.....you don't even have to watch it. Then I experimented and took it to work one day (already cooked). Then I just popped it in the microwave for a minute or so, and it heated up nicely. So, you'll have to give it a try. I think you will like it.

Stacy - best of luck to your hubby about the job. It sounds like it'll all work out! Good luck with that.

Well, that's about all for now. See ya later...

Betty Lou

Well, that's about all for now

That is great news for your mom, Betty Lou! I am really glad for you guys!

Oh! BTW, I know Eve said I made her cuss, well, I was gonna deny that, but I can't. I am a bad influence.

The Cleo rolls are pretty good. I have used them for sandwiches, mini pizza crusts, and my favorite is French toast! Yummy! You can add savory seasonings or sweet to the batter to change them up however you would like them to be.

My MIL has made omelettes like that for us. The kids got such a kick out of it. I am so glad that you brought that idea back up. Can't wait to give it a try!

Eve, love ya gal! Thanks for being you! Bellydancing? Awesome! I have the Carmen Electra Strip Aerobics. I really need to do those. It looks like fun and I am sure my sweetie would love it too!

Hi all

Welcome aboard Betty Lou, i'm glad to hear your mom passed her check up. It is rough. Every year my MIL goes to be evaluated we cross our fingers (she had 2 brain tumors removed, uterus and some lymph nodes under her arms)

Well, thank goodness scale back to moving down 229.

Bagged Omletes are teh balm. My girls scout troop does the omletes when we go camping. They like them cause less clean up. Got to watch sometimes bags melt.

Stacy, glad to hear you got your report in and that your husband is passing all his insurance test (I did it yyyyeeeaaarrrrssss ago). Your right the low carb lifestyle is very expensive. Stretch out those meals, make extra freeze it. I buy when they mark down the meat at my store...i have stocked a whole freezer that way...I get porterhouse steaks for 4.00 a piece.

Well better get back to work.

Eat provolone cheese 3 slices 3 slices of ls Ham a slice of tomatoe for lunch...No breakfast wasn't feeling up to it.

Not sure of dinner, thinking chicken and a salad...or maybe chicken salad on a salad.

Need to cut back on dt soda..but not sure about that one.

Working late! blahhhhhhhh

Hey Gals

Sorry for posting so late today. I am on my 3-12hour stretches. I don't get home till 7:30pm. Decided this wt loss isn't going to do itself so i went and worked out as soon as i got home. Thank goodness scrubs feel just like pj's So i did abs again, eliptical for 20 minutes and worked my back with weights. I wanted to come read posts and post myself real bad, but i figured that it was a reward for working out. I had tuna fish on celery sticks for lunch and another strawberry shortcake dessert (used a cleo roll and sugar free whipped cream) I took one of those stuffed burgers and put it on a low carb wrap for later. I actually think people at work were jealous. One of my co-workers was trying to get me to eat brownies with chocolate cream cheese frosting. I did not succumb though! whoooo hooooo. You know, i really didn't want to eat it! Hmmmmm I guess it is true that the sugar cravings go away after awhile. I drank my water too!

Betty Lou good to hear your mom's check up was good. That has to feel like a tremendous weight off your chests huh. I talked to one of the therapist at work about the passive range of motion and she said it would be a great idea to try it. She also said that your mom (if she is 65 or older) may qualify for medicare and that she may qualify for physical therapy. She should talk to her doc about it, and see if he/she can give her a referral. She also said that they mite be able to fit your mom with some orthotics to help prevent further problems with her feet. ohhh passive range of motion is when u move the joints around through their natural range of motion. passive means for example using your hand to move around your toes rather than moving the toes by themselves. When u have atrophy the tendons of joints shorten causing them to curl (contractures). Careful to start the range of motion slowly and gently and to not stretch too much at one time or cause any pain.

Great job at moving that scale Justine I am happy for u. I will weigh in the morning. I hope i lost something. I would be okay if i just don't gain!!!!! argh! then i would be mad. I want to try those boiled omlets tomorrow.

Hope u have a great time with your friends Mary. It is nice to catch up with them. Bet u will have lots to share with em. See u on Monday then!

Stacy, i have been trying to think of low carb inexpensive foods. i was going to say go to Sams or costco, but buying in bulk can be expensive at first. I know when i was growing up we ate alot of rice and pancakes and beans. But that isn't exactly lc. do u have an Aldi's where u r at? you could buy a big pack of hamburger and divide it up when u get home into smaller packs. Or u could buy some roasts beef/pork and make many meals out of them later. I make a fried rice with left over meats and veggies. Have the roast one nite and next nite have say hot roast beef sandwiches, then the next nite do a stir fry or some fajitas. Just some ideas. I know it is going to be tuff for ya for a little while but, it will pass, and u will make it

Okay ladies i have to get stuff ready for work tomorrow. hugs to u all. Keep on truckin! te he

Hi Everybody!

Awwwww......thank you SOOOO MUCH for the nice comments about my Mom. You guys are great. It means so much to me. Yes, it is a big relief that she had a good report! Thank you!

Eve - Thanks for checking on the Passive Range of Motion for me. I've got an idea of what's supposed to be done, and I think I'm going to look it up on-line to see how exactly to do these exercises and then I'll show her. I didn't know that the reason her toes are curling was due to the tendons of the joints shortening up. I know it's from the neuropathy, but didn't know the exact reason until you just told me. My Mom has done Physical Therapy......it did help somewhat with the strength in her legs. Actually, I think it helped alot. She really needs to keep it up at home. She says she does a few things, but she needs to get back on a regular routine. She does have orthotics......she just got them about 2 months ago and LOVES them. Said she probably couldn't walk without them. Thank you for all the suggestions. By the way, she's 71 and her insurance is excellent. She is retired from New York State and she's well taken care of in the insurance department. Thanks again!!!

Well, I was starting to read some past posts............WOW......there's alot to read! I don't think I'm going to read everything! Hahahaha! But I have seen alot of good recipies, that's for sure!

STACY: While reading back posts, I noticed that you and hubby ride. So do my husband and I! I don't ride my own, but I do ride on the back of hubby's. Been riding for.....oh my gosh......forever.....like 30 years. I haven't ridden too much the last couple years as I have to be careful of my back, and even though he has changed the shocks to "the best," it is an older bike that he's re-done a million times, and it's just starting to be a rough ride. He has a 1979 Harley LowRider. We are looking into a full dresser. I can definitely take that! It's so much more of a nice smooth ride. He won't give up his "baby" though, and I agree. So we'll have 2 bikes. One of these days I wouldn't mind learning myself, but am kind of afraid of dumping it, and I really, REALLY don't want to do anything to jeopardize my back (I had back surgery in 2001 and occasional problems flare up).
Some of the biker parties are pretty 'amazing' aren't they???

RUBY: Hello! Nice to meet you! Wow, your MIL went through alot! It sounds like she's doing pretty good now, and that's wonderful to hear! Looking forward to getting to know everybody. I just joined the board a few days ago...

Hope everybody has a great weekend! It's FINALLY going to start warming up here alittle bit! I'm so glad. I don't think I can take the cold any longer! Buffalo really gets in a deep freeze! YUK!

Went for my first walk of the year yesterday. Took Blaze (the tan guy in the pic). Got to get back into a walking routine. I alternate taking the dogs when I go. They are my buddies and keep me company. The only thing I hate about that is it's really embarrasing when Blaze takes a big dump on somebody's lawn. Ok, that's gross so I'll end now.

Take good care,
Betty Lou

Nice pic, Betty Lou! Very pretty!

Thanks for all of the support, I have been so stressed lately. I am a natural planner and worrier, so when there is something thrown into the mix to shake up my world, it messes me up.

Ok, diet plan for the next little bit...Monday, I leave for NY. The hotel does buffet style breakfast, so I am hoping for bacon and eggs for breakfast. The company does lunch. I have no idea what that means. It could be order your own, or it could mean sandwiches. I will just have to play that by ear. Dinner is out of pocket. Something small, probably burger and salad. I am sure there is a burger joint close by for that. And, gotsta have Buffalo wings one night, of course. Friday-Monday, we will be on our motorcycle camping trip. Have no idea at all there. But, when we get back, I will buy the meats and veggies that are on sale (I pretty much do that already) and go back to the 12 Day makeover bit that I had been doing. It was oatmeal and fruit for breakfast (which I still do. Grown to enjoy that a lot. Kinda funny, cuz I really don't like oatmeal. ), then mini meals throughout the day that consists of a lean protein, salad, veggies, and rice. The family is gonna be eating a lot of stir frys. I can also do a little potato on this diet. So, even though it isn't quite the diet I would like to be doing, it is cost effiecient and it works. I am working on giving up the cream in my coffee too. That's hard.

I weighed 166.5 this morning. I have held pretty steady this week. Which is really good, cuz I haven't been too careful. I also finally started (the stress has me all whacked out), so after today (and the heavy cramps) I should begin to physically feel better.

Again, I appreciate you gals so much. You have no idea how much easier this has been for me having a place to sound off a little bit.

Today is DH's last day at the car dealership. I am super excited about that. What was really stupid to me was he was the only finance manager scheduled to work from open to close. WTH? I don't think that he will stay til close unless the store is busy. He likes the people he works with and doesn't want to leave them in a lurch. I did tell him that if he stays later than close, I might be a bit upset.

Last night I asked Jerrimy what he would like for his ,"Congratulations! You are unemployed!" dinner tonight. He looked at me and said, "How about Ramen?" Told him that I didn't want to bust those out yet, we will do plenty of those in the near future.

We are both super excited, though. Stressed out as can be, but so motivated and ready to do something that will help us move ahead.

Justine, thanks for the idea. As my size has shrunk I have given all of my clothes to Goodwill. But, I guarantee, I will find plenty of stuff to have a garage sale with if I need to. I am definitely keeping that thought in the front of my mind.

We were gonna bail on the motorcycle trip next week. We have been talked into going on it still. We are going with two other couples and one or two other guys. They've changed up the plans a bit so that the costs are a bit less. They have offered to help offset costs of the trip. We told them that we aren't gonna let them do that, but inviting us to their place for dinner every now and then would be appreciated. That and they have to sign policies with DH to help there too. Of course.

I tell you, Betty Lou, riding has become such a wonderful way for my husband to unwind and for the two of us to spend the quality time together. It is amazing. We have made lifelong friends because of this one bond that everyone has. We go all over Colorado riding. Usually just on his bike, especially now with gas prices being as ridiculous as they are. And the parties are fun too!

Wow! I have talked your ears off today. Sorry about that.

So, let me keep going... I need to come up with an exercise plan. Since starting with the insurance stuff, I haven't been back to the gym to play racquetball. On Monday, my honey is gonna go see about putting the membership on hold for a couple of months ($78/mo). I do have the Carmen Electra DVD's, I also have a Callanetics video, also a yogalates DVD, but that bores me quickly. It helps me out, but blah. I can't wait to get through the routine when I do it. It won't be something that I can start for another week and a half, but I still need to come up with a plan. While in NY, I hope to swim a bit in the pool at the hotel. Maybe that will help get me going. On our motorcycle trip, we are going to hike in both the Grand Canyon and Arches National Park. That will be fun.

How long do you think it should take to safely lose 15 pounds? Is it possible to do it by the end of May if I were to do what I can (I.E. loosely follow a plan) and then jump in with a solid plan after our camping trip? It would be awesome to be right at goal as the swimsuit season starts. I would also need to exercise (see above ramblings). Do you think it could happen? Wanna join me?

Ok, ok, no more ramblings for now. I am gonna get some food cooked for the family for this next week. Thank you, again for letting me sound off.

Justine, glad yur mil is doing great too. My mil wasn't so lucky. She had ovarian cancer and put up a good fight. We thought she had it beat but 5 years later it won. You know how people always complain about their mils? Mine was the opposite, she was great. Really miss her.

worked out again. Did elipitical for 23 min and worked arms with weights. I was going to do abs but they are kinda sore. I got on the scale and it said 194!!!!! I haven't budged. Man oh man it is frustrating. Well girls i fell completely on my ass today. I was at work and went to go sit down and didn't know my co-worker had moved the chair so she could get by (we were going to head out of the office and check on patients but i turned back to write something down) Yep thats rite no chair. lucky i have plenty of cushion cuz i landed on that first. then hit my head on the floor and just layed there for a minute. OMG i was so embarassed. I have taken worse falls on the snowboard but that is different. I am okay i think. I mean i am kinda sore but that could just be from working out. I really could use a beer rite now. Stayed low carb today. It is getting easier.

Nice pic Betty Lou. Your a very pretty lady. Thanks for sharing it with us. It does help to put a face to the person. I posted one a few pages back, but not sure if it ever came thru. I really need to play with my camera and try to post some more. I want to do some before and after pics. I love the pics of your dogs. Roflmao about the dog pinching a loaf on other peoples yards. I have deer doo doo all over mine and my darling roxie barks and acts real tough until she is face to face with one and then she runs the other way. She is such a priss.

Justine! what a great idea about ebay! I never thought of that. U really have some great ideas. I have a ton of clothes my dh is dying for me to get rid of. And shoes? OMG i have a ton of those too, and of course i gotta buy more.

Sorry if i seem bland tonight. I am just beat. Sigh! one more day of work. I will be off Monday and Tuesday. Stacy if i don't get to talk to u, u have a wonderful flight. Have a good time too. Don't worry about the dh or the kids. I am sure they will be fine. Besides, maybe they need to miss u so they can appreciate u all that much more I think the plan u picked to follow will be easy to stick to. And............... yes i think u can lose 15 by the end of May. I am game. I want to be 180 by the end of May. I know i can do it.

hugs everyone. Take care and be well.

Went to Black Eye Pea last night for dinner. What lousy, lousy service. It took probably 15 minutes to get waited on once we were seated. The hostess and the manager apologized to us. The entire night was like that. SLOW. I ordered roasted chicken and double steamed broccoli and asked that they top the broccoli with baked potato toppings. Well, I got dried out chicken and broccoli with cheese on top of a baked potato. Oh well. Deal with it. They messed up my daughters order also. At the end of dinner, our hostess said that the manager wanted to comp us dessert for having waited so long at the beginning of the evening. So, we ordered dessert to go. I asked for the carrot cake. 25 minutes after we ordered dessert, we get to go home. Everyone's dessert was correct- except mine. They gave me chocolate cake. Which would have been great, if that was what I wanted. So, I griped and my husband gave me Midol. Dinner took us 2 1/2 hours cuz the service was so slow. Thankfully, we were all having a nice time together, so that wasn't so bad. Now I am done complaining.

I hopped on the scale this morning. 165. So, I am cool with that.

I leave for Buffalo tomorrow. Kinda looking forward to it. Anxious to see how much the family misses me this week.

My high school boyfriend (first love) contacted me on Myspace last night. That was pretty cool. I have talked to him a couple of times over the last few years. We were all really good friends (to include my husband), so it is neat to get in touch with each other again. I do gotta say, he grew up to be pretty good looking.

Alrighty, gonna start laundry so that I can pack. Will check in a bit later.

Just got home. Thinking of taking a 30 min power nap and then go work out. My feet are killing me and kept saying it is Sunday, i should just take the nite off. But, noooooo I am going to persevere. Kinda had a brownie today, well okay i DID have one. I feel bad about that. I know i didn't have near enough water either. Was a stressful day and only got to sit for only 15 minutes. 194 lbs again. Well least I am not gaining

LMAO at the midol comment. Did u give him the stink eye Stacy? What terrible service! We don't have that restaurant here, at first i thought u meant u went to a black eyed pea concert. I have had bad service before. Walked out of a place because they kept serving people that came after us. They forgot about us. Guess that happens to everyone. I have thought about doing myspace, hahahha i mean my mom has myspace. Well power nap time. Catch u all later. Have a safe and fun trip Stacy
Hope the rest of u ladies had a successful weekend. Ciao
