Hey, I was just looking at your post. I will be your penpal. I'm really chatty though. I looked at your stats and we are progressing at about the same rate and have about the same amount to lose. So how bout it? I'm slightly older than you, 47, two DD's in college and a DS in high school. Let me know.

This is great. It will be fun. Like I said, I'm really chatty.

I didn't plan to do this diet for the purposes of a wedding and a class reunion, but I have both coming up so this fits in great. DD1 is getting married in July. It's going to be weird being the mother of the bride. And I have a class reunion that same week. I HOPE nobody recognizes me by then. What are the odds? 52.4 lbs down already since November. How much can I lose by July. I was probably at about 230 at my last reunion. Anyway, I have hit a major stall month though and the weight seems to be dropping really slow. I've got to change it up a little and perhaps put some induction into practice again for a while.

Now that you've lost this much, is it still coming off fast?

No I have had the same stall month, I was losing like crazy and now maybe 2 lbs a week...not fast enough but I will hang in there because as heavy as I was I was not healthy and I need to watch my son grow up. WOW a wedding, congratulations, I hope she's marrying a nice guy! And no one will know you at the reunion, you will look HOT!! Lets stick together so that we can meet our goals, sometimes a little encouragement really helps. I did Atkins in 2000 and lost 54 lbs, then I met my DH (he's Spanish) and gained it ALL back, plus some!!! NO MORE though I have changed my ways!!

Yah, me too. I hope I never go back to what I was. I was out of control and sinking fast. My family history says I was headed for trouble. Fortunately I hope I nipped it in the bud before it happened. My Mom and sis at my age got diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I so didin't want to go there. I got involved in this through a study conducted at the local university hospital. I will go into more detail later. I'm committed to this study for 2-1/2 years so I have no choice but to stick with it. It's kind of an Atkins vs. Dash diet comparison thingy.

I am happy to meet you. It will be great to travel this journey together. I need to go now, because actually I'm at work killing time until 5 and I need to wrap a few things up. Believe me, I'm on this site a lot. I check it several times a day so I will be back. Perhaps even this evening when I get home.

Until later.

Hey Thinme: So I said I would elaborate on this study I'm in. Being my portly self, I received a flyer in the mail from my HMO saying they were looking for obese people to participate. I thought OMGosh a diet that last 2-1/2 years. I'm in. I needed someone to hold a brick over my head and I got it. It involves a lot of medical monitoring too. Blood tests, bone density scans, kidney function, etc. Oh, it's not as bad as it sounds. I'm grateful for the additional FREE medical attention. For the first six months, we meet once a week in a group of 12 and a nutritionist. Then, for the remaining 2 years we meet once a month, with a six week (once a week) booster session at about 18 months. It's during working hours, so I have to come in early and work through a lunch to make up the time, but it's been so worth it. Never in a million years did I think I could lose 52 lbs. Neither did my family or friends. So, that's why I'm here.

I have found a ton of support on these boards. It's really been fun to establish relationships with people going through the same thing as me.

Well, I have a client who just arrived, so I will be back later.

Wow, you are the same weight as me now. I just can't seem to drop it very fast at this point. Congratulations. I hope it keeps going for you. Remember me when you leave me in the dust.

I am a paralegal. Do you work outside of the home or are you one of the lucky SAHM's. I wish. DH works construction which is sketchy at times and that's why I have to work full time. Bleh.

Have you lived in Reno long. I've only been there once about 23 years ago. I bet it has really changed since then.

We are so much alike, I am an administrative assistant in a radiology imaging center, my husband works construction (building houses), very sketchy right now, YUK!! I would never be able to stay at home , I would be as big as a house, watching TV all the time, besides I like money too much!! I was born and raised in good ol Reno, Nevada. I love it here, my mom is here and she is a huge help with my son. So if I calculate right you have 13 lbs to loose to get to your mini??

Yah, my mini goal is to get below 200. I want to reach ONEDERLAND sooo bad. I haven't weighed less than 200 since my first daughter was born 22 years ago. Actually, I've weighed around the 265 range for about 15 years. Oh, I would yo yo down and back up again, but never anything significant, like 20 lbs, 15 lbs 25 lbs. I'm in a century challenge and several of us weigh about the same and are all FIGHTING to get to onderland first. We have all slowed way down and aren't making significant progress for about the past three weeks. Hopefully this will end soon, our bodies will adjust and get ready to move on. I exercise daily, but it's mostly walking with a partner. DH got me a heart monitor device that I use while exercising. It measures heart rate highs, lows, median, how many minutes, how many calories burned, how long you are in the zone, etc. From that device, I've learned I don't burn as many calories walking with a partner as I do on my own, so I'm thinking I need to hit the gym for at least 30 minutes on my way home from work despite walking.

I've lived herein P-Town all my life. My mom, bro and one sis live here. DH is from Northern CA. So he has family all up and down the west coast, most are up here though. From my office I have a fabulous view of Mt. Hood.

Have a great afternoon.

Hey Thin Me. Where are ya? It's quiet at home today. No big plans for the weekend. Everyone is home. So I can't really get much done. So I thinik I will work on a scrap book I'm putting together for DD1 whose getting married in July. I did my golf course walk this morning. It's about 5 miles. My monitor said I burned 600 calories, so I'll take it. My scale was nice this morning, but that was after I walked. Although it was pouring rain the whole time, I got really hot because my rain slicker doesn't let the air through. So I was probably missing a lot of water in my system. I don't want to jinx it by saying I've lost. I won't officially weigh in until Tuesday which is the day I meet with my group in the study. Hope you have a great weekend.

Well good morning Dreamcometru, how was your weekend? Mine was just the usual, cleaning and shopping, enjoying the weather before it gets yucky tomorrow. We are supposed to get snow! I'm sorry I didn't write on Friday, it was so busy at work, my boss was getting ready to go to Cancun (lucky), now that she's gone I will be a little bored, so I will be writting up a storm okay! Also I will be going to my sons wrestling match today, he's a little nervous, this is his first match. I hope he does okay. Talk to you soon!

Yay! Hi Thinme. It's good to hear from you. I'm glad your weekend went well. I wish your son the best of luck today. I really miss the sports days with my kids. DS played soccer, in fact I coached him for a few years, and he played baseball and basketball. Then he moved on to Football. He busted his thumb up pretty bad this past fall and doesn't want to go back to play next year. He doesn't play baseball and basketball anymore, although the coaches at the high school asked him why he didn't go out for baseball. He's going out for the golf team instead. DD2 played softball from K through 10th, soccer and basketball from K through 8th and water polo all through high school. What a blast. The competition was so much fun. DD1 played soccer, softball and basketball K through 8. DD1 and DS both turned into musicians and performers. DD2 became a drama queen. Fun times, but I do miss the sports.

I took DS golfing yesterday. I'm terrible, but it was fun. He's also learning to drive. AAAAAhhhh.

I'm hoping to cut portions this week. I can't seem to lose anything. I need to think back when I was on induction to compare what I eat now with what I ate then. I may up the exercise a bit too. We'll see. It's a little difficult to be away from home when everyone is there, so I may not be able to up the exercise until next week.

I will check in later. Gotta get to work.

Hey Thinme: How's it going? I meet with my group for the study today. So I will have an official weigh in. Ugh, I'm not looking forward to it.

Anyway, so I tried to eat induction type foods yesterday, but waivered. I was starving when I got home from work and immediately went for the cashews and LC yogert. Slap my hands would ya. Sheesh, I have no will power. The great thing is I can give it another try today. I packed an induction type salad for lunch and have an Atkins shake for breakfast.

Hope you have a great day.

Best of luck to you today!! Be strong, don't let any thing get you down! At least you didn't go home and eat a double cheese burger (bun and all) french fries and a chocolate shake!!! I mean LC yogurt and cashews aren't all that bad really. We need to get past this haunting 212 don't we? I was so hungry yesterday, all I did was eat...the right stuff, just all day! By the way DS pinned his opponent in the first 10 seconds of the match...PROUD MOMMA!!!!!

Yay! Congrats to your DS. I was always so proud of my kids when they did good, scored a goal, hit a home run, etc. It's so much fun.

Well I was down a whopping .8 of a pound yesterday at my weigh in. Ugh. The weight just doesn't want to go away. I'm so frustrated. I was averaging about 2.5 lbs per week until this month. Dang!!!! But, at least it's not a gain.

I still ate cashews and lc yogurt yesterday. I've got to find an acceptable substitution. I ate a wonderful salad yesterday, dark greens, a campari tomatoe and some chicken breast. Had a cheese stick for breakfast (I wasn't hungry) and then when I got home, cashews. I did eat celery and two sausage patties. and the LC Yogurt. It can't be that bad, only 3 carbs per serving and 60 calories. I think it might be the sweetner. I need to look more closely at the ingredients.

Have a great day.

Hey Thinme: Just checkin in.

I didn't do so well on carbs yesterday. 39.8. Cashews and strawberries. Can't wait til the nuts are gone. Scale is right back to where it was Tuesday.

Gonna have a busy weekend. DD1 is coming home, DD2 is already home, so I will have a full house. These occasions will be few and far between from here on out because of DD1's wedding in July. So I hope we all get to enjoy it. DD2 and DS have been at each other's throats since DD2 got home for spring break. Ugh, it's been a rough week. Can't wait for things to get back to normal.

Well wishes to you. Hopefully I can stay below 30 carbs today! Gonna hit the gym tomorrow and Sunday. My walking partners are not available this weekend.

Have a great day.

Hi Thinme: Hope you had a good weekend.

As I expected, mine was a zoo. I didn't get much done around the house but had a good time with family and friends anyway.

I did hit the gym at 7:30 a.m. Sat and Sun. I put in a hard workout. My lunch hour walking partner is MIA for the week, so I need to go on my own or go to the gym. I haven't decided. I have so many other things to do at lunch today, it will probably be the gym tonight.

My scale at home says I'm still the same. I'm hoping to see at least a l lb drop by tomorrow for my weigh in at my study group.

So besides your kids and DH, do you have other family where you live? My mom, sister and bro are close by. I'm not very close to my sis and bro. I have another sis that lives in Texas. Haven't seen her in about 10 years. We were close until she moved away.

Talk to you later. Work is calling.

Hey Thinme:

I'm sorry about your DH being out of work. Mine works construction. Although the weather here has been stellar, they don't have any jobs lined up so he's sitting on his butt at home DOING NOTHING! which drives me crazy. Funny how when I'm off I do a million things around the house and he makes demands, get this, do that, etc. etc. and dinner has to be on the table when he gets home, but when he's off, he just goofs around and asks what's for dinner when I walk through the door. I'm a little disgruntled at the moment at his lack of employment, but more so at his lack of willingness to take advantage of the time off to get things done we really need doing. We too are financially strapped right now. It's so frustrating. He flips an attitude about it saying he's entitled to a few days off. Well, its going on four weeks now. If I point out I would like a little help, he gets defensive saying "Fine, you don't have to clean up after me, cook for me, etc. I will do all my own stuff." Well if I didn't clean, etc. the dishes would be a mile high, there would be no groceries in the house, the lawn would be eight feet high by now and the house would be a pig sty. Sure, I can clean up after myself, but that doesn't take care of his crap. Okay, tell me to stop.

I'm bummed. I lost a whopping 9/10ths of a pound last week. Weighed in yesterday. Ugh, I don't know what to do to jump start my system back into losing the 2 lbs a week I was used to. The dr. decreased my thyroid meds which I think has a lot to do with it. I'm so frustrated. I can exercise my butt off to no avail. Oh well, sorry not so upbeat today.

Congratulations on your loss. I'd love to lose 2 lbs.

The girls in my study group all lost 2 to 3 lbs and most weigh so much less than I do. You would think being the chunky one, I would lose faster, but no.

Hopefully tomorrow will be brighter. I didn't mean to dump so much. Especilaly since you are going through tough times too. Like I said before, I'm really chatty, probably too much.

Hey Thinme: I hope all is well. I'm a little more upbeat today. I hope to get lots of stuff done this weekend, but am hosting easter dinner. Just my mom and nephew are coming over, but still, I need to get most of it done Saturday so it's ready after church on Sunday. Do you have any great plans for the weekend?

I hope you were able to get your car fixed. It seems like every time we get even, something else gives out. Right now its our dryer.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Bless your little pea pickin' heart Dreamy! Your DH and my DH are a lot alike, sometimes mine seams down right mean, and I wonder, why?? I will probably go to church on Sunday, there is one out by where I live and I would liketo try it. And i think we are BBQing a pork roast...yyuummyyy!!

9/10 of a lb is a LOSS! and that's better than a gain, right? Chin up!

The dryer died huh, boy if it isn't one thing it's another...the list I have of drama just since January would floor you, you would wonder why I haven't run for the hills, truly!

What ya cookin for Easter supper?

The engine in the car is GONE...so I am buying a friends car with the help of my mommy and daddy...

I will check back in a little later today, have a great weekend and Easter if I don't talk to
