Hi there. I also just started Atkins this last week.. I use to do WW and lost 125lbs but then started putting it back on and decided I needed a change.. But not to many are really supportive of this change but I was also told to cut out carbs.. So I think is exactly what I needed.. Plus I needed structure.. I am also not to far from you, I am in Washington.

My week is going great so far.. Today is day 7 and I peaked at the scale and finally after 5 plus months it moved.. I was convinced it was broken lol.. Every day it gets a little easier..
I still have alot to learn, I did WW for almost 4 years and lost right around 125but I put 40lb back on, so now its time to get that off and the rest.. smiles michelle |

Great Job! I think i have determined that I have to banish my scale and only weigh once a week or i will become obsessed with it! Any reason above all others for wanting to lose weight- ill share mine. My husband and I are trying to have a baby, and im borderline prediabetic. My doctor and obgyn both recommended low carb dieting. Are you doing anything extra for exercise- i have been thinking about starting up pillates again- but i almost have been thinking about doing something more fast paced. |

I just went to your myspace and sent you a quick note and requested to be your friend.. I just love myspace..
well the reason I decided to lose weight, was 4 years ago I stepped on the scale and I was 3lbs from 300.. I just about died.. I pretty much ate myself thru the holidays, oh I found that number on thanksgiving.. So after the holidays I tried every fad diet there was and lost and than gained.. One night i said enough is enough and I joined WW the next day.. I did really good and lost 125lbs and then I met my boyfriend.. He is italian.. Well even tho I was doing what I was suppose to do, I was eating so many more carbs and the weight was packing on.. Then this last summer I got really sick and I found a new doctor. I was diagnosed with PCOS and he told me carbs were not my friend.. And then I had 2 surgeries and went into denial and put on more weight.. Just last week I said enough is enough and its time to get serious. So I went and bought the Atkins book and today is day 7 and I am loving it.. Thats pretty much in a nutshell why I am doing this and its so great to be able to talk to others that are going thru the same thing.. smiles michelle |

Yeah PCOS was a big part of why I am not concieving- that and the weight, i just havent been ovulating. My obgyn will place me on fertility meds if i get the 20 down and dont concieve- but ideally i need to loose like 50 I had the best low carb lunch i a while today- made me feel elated. Ill pop on over to myspace and accept you ![]() |

Hi D, and Michelle. I too am new here, but this is my second try at Atkins/low carb. Take heart D , it does work., and quite well once you get used to it. I just wanted to say i was nosing on your conversation and find it so interesting that so many people have the same (relative ) stories. We too had the fertility issue , with the dr. suggesting weight loss would be a plus. Aren't fertility meds a blast
It is comforting to know that someone else really does understand. Nice to meet you both. Eileen |

Hi Eileen its nice to meet you.. I wish I would of know about all the medical things and such years ago.. I was engaged in 1992 and was told I couldnt have kids.. My fiance was in the navy and we didnt have much money and since we werent married I didnt have any insurance.. Well we didnt end up getting married and I went for years thinking I couldnt have kids... Well this last summer I got sick and went to a doctor and after many tests ultrasounds and many appts, I was diagnosed with PCOS.. Well thats when the doctor told me, that I could of more than likely had kids.. Well I was 37 about to turn 38 and he told me it could take a couple years to get me prego.. Well I had to make a decision, I am with a great guy who already has 3 kids and since I lived all these years thinking I couldnt have kids, I opted for the surgery and went in and had my tubes stapled and some other things.. It did play quite a emotional rollercoaster on my emotions, but my female issues are now fixed and its back to losing the weight.. I had never heard of PCOS until I was diagnosed with it and its just amazing how many have it.. They should really advertise it, ok advertise it isnt the word, but make it aware for people to know about it.. None of my family had heard about it and now its like its on every corner, its just crazy..
Oh by the way, I love to ramble on if given the chance lol. smiles michelle |

Yes! And like happy said I really wish that it was something that was brought up more often, they say that only a small precentage of woment suffer from PCOS, but i personally know of about 4 other women in my "circle" so something tells me that number is much higher! Did your doctor already place you on fertility medication? Mine wont do it untill the weight is lost... |

Well I have a friend who is younger than man and after about 3 years, she is finally going to have a little girl.. She also has PCOS, I met when I was doing Weight Watchers and she is just a doll. They went to doctor after doctor and finally it happened.. She is due I think any day.. Plus I have another friend who I just met and she was diagnosed with PCOS and was told she probably couldnt have kids and she has 2 lovely girls. So with the right doctor and them having the right knowledge, it sounds like they know what to do.. I just wish I would of known about it years ago and would of understand so much more. But I am very grateful that I did my boyfriend and I have such a wonderful relationship with his kids.. Even if him and I were to split up (hoping that doesnt happen) but if we were to.. He made a promise to me in the beginning that he would never keep his kids from me.. Which he has proven, because we have had our problems, he was married for 16 years and out of no where his wife up and left him, so he still has alot of healing to do but he says he is happy with me, just kinda scared that I may bail to..
Today is day 8 and so far so good.. I discovered egg salad on a bed of lettuce, it was quite tasty for lunch.. Than I realized I am really excited about easter, I can eat the decorated eggs lol. Ok better get back to work but will be back online in a few.. smiles michelle |

Oh I will have to check that recipe out..I am such a pick eater when it comes to homemade soups, but I am always willing to try something new. And if I dont like it, the guys at work always eat anything :-)..
Yes you are definately young enough to get a handle on it and be able to be a mommy.. My doctor had told me he was 99.9% sure I could of had a baby, but my boyfriend now doesnt want any more kids and to time it would take to heal from leaving him and finding someone new and all that jazz plus all the time it would take to get me there, I decided it just wasnt in my cards..But I am very lucky to have the 3 kids that are in my life (my boyfriends) plus all their friends call me mommy Michelle, so that fills in the void I have had for so long.. Oh I am excited, I tried on a pair of capris this morning that I couldnt wear towards the end of summer last year and I can wear them and breathe, I am way jazzed..So hoping I can actually wear some of my summer clothes I bought 2 years ago that I only got a chance to wear a couple of times before I out grew them lol.. hope you are having a great night.. smiles michelle |

Its pretty good, that website is like a godsend! That is awesome! I havent tried on any clothes that were smaller than when i started, i have been the same size for quite a while- but i took out the naughty scale today and am down to 258 Although i think im gonna have to start adding some more greens in my diet Im glad that you are happy with it, and its understandable that you wouldnt want to start all over again! Sounds like a big heartache! Induction is almost over isnt it.... |

Hello everyone. My name is Shonda. I have done Atkins before but can never seem to get through a clean Induction. I did manage to lose 30lbs the first time but gained most of it back. I know I'm addicted to carbs but I am sick and tired of being overweight. My birthday is at the end of the month (3/31) and I want to start fresh. I want to lose the weight for me. I really feel bad as it just seems I dont have the willpower to lose the weight. I want so badly for this weight to be off, but just dont know what to do.
I really need someone to keep me on track. I am tired of being sick and tired. I started lowcarbing again about 2 weeks ago and am down 10lbs but still havent made it through a clean induction. I need help.

Actually I am thinking about sticking with induction for a little while longer.. The scale has stalled but I am thinking it would my friendly time of the month lol.. So I figure I will still with it for a couple more weeks and than head over to OWL.
I am finally learning to eat a little more raw vegis, but the cooked ones just arent my cup of tea. I wish they were.. I hope you are having a good week.. Mine is going great so far and I cant believe tomorrow is friday already. smiles michelle |

LOL same here, cept monthly visitor hasnt really detered my weightloss- but man the carb cravings are killer! I almost killed my husband last night for eating ice cream near me! Yeah ive read you can do induction safely for up to like 6 months. i dont mind em cooked or raw- i just dont have much of a range and im not really up for trying anything new, so its squash or brussel sprouts for dinner everynight lol. |
