Motivation buddy wanted or needed lol

Hi I'm Jenn I started this WOE 02/01/2007 and I love it so far I'm looking for someone who can help me to stay motivated and be understanding about this WOE I have read so many journals and the most successful ones also seem to have the most friends

Well here is a little bit about me I'm 23 and from New Orleans I was raised on good food and I loved all of it whats a girl supposed to do My mom did Atkins about 2 years ago and went from 20 to a 12 in what seemed like over night and has kept it off so shes my inspiration to try this

I have never been "thin" my smallest was about a size 10 at 160 and I don't think I could go much smaller than that but who knows I have tried every diet and diet pill there is I always turn into crazy woman and end up eating everything I see about 2 weeks after starting

So I know that this has kinda been all over the place sorry I have my ADD moments I love to meet new people and talk a lot if you cant tell so far I feel that I am a great listener and that I can give as much motivation as I know I would love to have
Thanks for taking a minute to learn a little bit about me Jenn

Hi jenn,
Welcome! Nice to meet you How about a hug you probably could use one. I started Atkins 7/31/06 and I lasted about 2 months. I'm like you I usually crash and burn after a couple of weeks. Ive never lost more than about 15 lbs on any diet. I'm a very poooor dieter. I restarted on 1/29/07 because I have the best experience in Atkins than on anything else ever! All the success stories keep me motivated. I love the fact that I can eat as much as I want as long as its allowed. Very cool! I have come to the conclusion that I am probably going to be on this "diet" for the rest of my life If I ever want to lose weight. I am never going to be able to tolerate eating all the carbs I used to. That is just the facts for me. Im not looking at this like I will go back to eating 'normal' again after I lose all the weight because that is just not possible for me. I have a disease like alcoholism. It cannot be cured but It can be arrested and Atkins is going to put the handcuffs on it. When I eat carbs my stomach stays all messed up all the time, I'm tired all the time, I feel like I'm big as the house, I'm depressed, I have a headache, I crave sweets and a lot of other stuff. But when I eat by the Atkins program I don't have any of these issues. isn't it obvious which diet to pick?
Any way I hope I helped. Good luck. If you want to talk more with me I hang out on the " 'Round Two' I'm tryin this thing again" thread which is in the Induction part of this site.

Hi,
I am with you both on the eating right thing. I have GERD and cannot even sleep at night when I eat carbs, I have to basically sit upright or wake up choking. When I stay on Atkins, no matter how much I eat...not heartburn or reflux it is amazing. I start on Jan. 2, and Jan. 29, and again on Feb. 5 (yesterday). I just keep sabotaging myself. It really helps when you have people to keep on track with. I started another thread, but my "friends" seem to have slowly started to wean off the board.
I am an everyday sometimes twice a day poster and would love to see other people posting their struggles and successes along with me.
About me: I turned 30 in Dec., have 2 boys, and am a stay at home mom. I have gained about 60 lbs. during my 8 1/2 year marriage and am really wanting to start feeling better about my body again.
I hope I am a good motivator and will help as much as possible.
Jenn, too

Hello Jenn,
I just started doing low carb/healthy eating again. You and I are the same weight and I want to get down to a size 10 too. My husband is from NOLA so I know about good Southern food. If you want to be my pen pal let me know. I was in the 3 times a lady challenge. We challenged each other to work out 3 times a week. You get to choose how long you worked out but you had to do it 3 times a week. I hope that we can get to know each other and help each other along the way.

~Colleen

Thanks so much everyone

What awesome feed back hpno Jenn and Colleen It is so exciting to find friends with the same issues I have I seem to have the skinny friend syndrome Anyway I would love for all of us to get things going together I'd rather OD on motivation than food I have felt so awesome lately I'm more awake during the day and sleep better at night (gosh I sound like a commercial) My physical cravings are gone just gotta get past the emotional ones Funny that at one time I actually believed that crappy food and lots of it made things better I haven't felt this great in a long time and it isn't only the eating it's having the control over myself to do what is good for me I control the food not the other way AND I feel more organized I plan my meals and I'm not starving all day and stuffing my face with the first thing I can get my hands on

I think the challenges are a great idea I would love any suggestions for some
Hope to talk to y'all soon
Jenn

Okay ladies, we can do this. I am going to become a permanent member of this board, if that is okay. I will still post in my other area, but I think I am slowly becoming the only one.
To let everyone know, I am a compulsive weigher and will post my weight usually once a day, if it goes down. I also just ramble about things I am thinking, struggling with, or doing that is helping. I love when other people do the same, so I can make any suggestions if I have them. I give very good advice (even if I don't always follow it) and listen well. I am excited about the possibility of doing a challenge from the start with someone. Anyone with suggestions, I am all in. Let me know.
Good luck to everyone today.

That is funny! I say that all the time. I can hide the breath, can't hide the fat.
Are you doing any exercise, Jenn. I have started doing a few little things, but need to get into the whole cardio thing again. I am less than motivated, I HATE to exercise. Actually some things I have fun with and like, it is the getting started part that I hate.

Not real exercise went to the park once with my dogs walked two miles and had this great plan to do it a few times a week well lets just say that plan hasn't happened yet I also HATE exercise thats why the walking is great for me because I usually walk the dogs just not two miles so its just a long dog walk and they really love the attention (I have three two pit bulls and an Akita) I'll be walking as a chaperon in a few of the Mardi Gras parades with my younger brother and that is eight miles a parade so maybe it will kick start me
Have you tried water exercise? I plan to start next month I'm just so poor right now lol got married bought a house and two new vehicles in one year so I've been stashing the money I would usually spend on ordering out on lunch and it'll we be enough for my membership trying to reward myself for eating clean anyway back to water exercise my mom has MS (multiple sclerosis) and she did it for a while I went with her to a few classes and it was awesome I worried about me in a bathing suit around gym bunnies but she went to the wellness center affiliated with the hospital much more comfortable there No mirror monkeys or makeup heads(big buff guys who stare at themselves and the women who go to work out in full hair and make up) that is what i encountered at a regular gym and I hated it here I am over 200 lbs in a t shirt and sweatpants sweating like a pig
to real workouts

I know what you mean about the gym. I have a membership to my local YMCA and it is mostly older people, so I don't feel so bad. I also can take my kids swimming and water walk in the pool (they have classes too). I just haven't been doing it lately. 220 today. I am looking forward to being out of the 22's (220s) and in the 21's. I have made a promise to myself to be in "one"derland by April. I know I can do it, hopefully even before then.

Thank you. If I can stay focused, anyone can. I really believe that because I am a self sabotager, lol. I am doing it, though. I spent last night dressing a thinner me in my head. I can't wait.

Good job Jenn! 11 lbs. in 12 days! You are doing awesome. What have you been eating? I have been stalled for a couple of days, so that is frustrating. Keep up the good work.
