Penpal? SAHM or homeschool Atkins mom?

I'm hoping to find one or two pen pals, though I'm not sure how that will work since I have not been on this board for 25 days??

I'm a stay at home mom who had a LOT of trouble adjusting to staying at home. I have no family within 5 hours of me and dont get out enough to make any real pals here.

I homeschool which works great for my family, though the local school is excellent. I'm a Christian. I have 2 boys, the most horrid ::::four years apart::::: and have dogs and birds, obviously lol. I have a good sense of humor but fold up like a tent if someone tries to hurt my feelings.

I watch too much tv and would not need my pen pal to like them, but my shows are General Hospital (since the 4th grade!), 24, American Idol, House and I Shouldn't Be Alive/Mythbusters/Man vs Wild. I also watch Court TV in lieu of toooo much news or fluff on tv. ::hew::: Aren't I exciting?

We could be sisters...lol

I'm a Christian SAHM with 3 kids (14 yr son, 11 yr daughter and 5 yr old son) I am trying to find out more about homeschooling my kids starting next school year. I have 1 dog and 2 birds and dozens of fish. I also live at least 7 hours away from any family. I have lived here 6 yrs and have yet to make friends with anyone but a few elderly neighbors.

I would love to be your lowcarbing penpal.

BTW I only joined this site yesturday....

Boy you are right! I think we can both understand a few things the other is going through. My boys are 6 and 10, I have homeschooled for about 4 years. My youngest is doing his stint in public school this year so that he can learn to stand in line, listen to someone other than me, you know. But then it's back to full time learning here. I can tell you as much as you care to hear about homeschooling. It's great if you have the initiative. I LOVE IT.

I also have a Bernese Mountain dog, a yorkie and a poodle mix. My birds are a tiel named George and a Green Cheeked conure named Holly. She is on my shoulder chewing on my ear right now, lol Got to get rid of that habit LOL

Tell me about yours!!

How do we email eachother if we can't post email addys I wonder?

Hi kidsdogsbirds!

I read your post this morning on here... then just saw your post about your husband... and thought... boy.. we are a like!! I have started a penpal forum on here about losing 50lbs... and I am a homeschool mom.

Jeez... the child I started homeschooling with in second grade is graduating this year!! I have homeschooled a total of 10 years now... took my two girls through eigth grade and now I am homeschooling my son who is in 2-3rd grade. It is a struggle... but I love the relationship you end up with your children! We moved to a better school district... and I was worried about homeschooling through high school so I figured... let them know what the "real life" was like... and let them go to the prom! lol

Hey.. if it helps... my oldest is graduating with honors... going to a 4 year college... and is going into civil engineering... she has her first two years paid for already in scholarships!! And she has not even graduated yet! We are so proud of her! You can see pics on the other forum...

I have been married almost 19 years... and my husband has always been a gym junkie!! Always working out. I used to... when my girls were younger... but then I decided to stay home with my kids... quit that job and my full-time one... to open a home daycare. Here I am 13 years later... and 50 lbs heavier - fixing all this junk food... and don't seem to have as much time for working out. And boy... does DH give me a hard time about my weight. I dont think he means to... he thinks he is being supportive... but he has made many comments in the past that are just hurtful. Cause he can still fit into his 32 jeans! Like last night... he sat down... and was eating some powdered doughnuts in front of me.. I am like... jeez... at least eat those in the kitchen.. but then I realize.. its my issue.. not his.. and I am not doing this for HIM... its for ME!! This time... its all about me!!

My daycare kids.. eat chicken nuggets.. mac and cheese... etc... and so do my two littlest ones... but I what I did.. was Sunday... made a bunch of chicken breast... itialian sausage... hamburger patties... etc.. and froze them. Tonight... my family is having spaghetti... but i am taking some of the sausage... and a salad (which they are eating too) and eating my dinner... and I am not going to miss that fattening pasta a bit!! If its already cooked...and can be heated up easy... then I dont have to worry as much... (my way of thinking anyhow)

You should come up and join Ilsa, determined and I in our forum... I think you would like it... I am not sure how much you wanted to loose... but I think I can help be supportive! This forum has really helped me so much this time around.. i know I am going to get to my goal weigh!!

hope to talk to you soon.

P.S. BamaRednek is more than welcome to join too!! The more support the better!

Tiffiny, wow, another twin! I am glad to hear someone else is surrounded by chicken nuggets and mac and cheese! Pasta is by far my downfall. And please dont say to eat the brown kind or the squash kind. It offends my Italianishness. (Honorary Italian here)

I would love to join your forum. How do I find it? My ideal weight loss would be 45 to 50 pounds I am striving not to ever hit that 200 mark but it looms...looms....

Now I'm depressed

First....amazing Berner that Zeus! What a beautiful dog! I kwym about the shedding, it's a freak of nature, isn't it? We have hardwood floors (thank God) and every am the ceiling fans push huge piles of fur into every corner, lol!

Second, I can't seem to figure out how to email anyone! I can post but how do I send an email to a poster?

Sweet-n-low... 65 pounds would be so great. I am going to start the CLA and the GLA today, I will let you know how it works. Are you doing it?

A new generation of functional people. I like that and would love to talk to you about what you mean, it sounds like we may have almost everything in common lol

I am going to make low carb sushi this week! I used to make typical sushi all the time. This time I will make rolls with seaweed, then minced shrimp and mayo, dash Morton's Hot Salt, cucumber and roll up. OHMYGOSH so yum!

Wow! Let's see, I have 2 boys ages 6 and 10. My family and dh's family are both a mess. Lots of, let's just leave it at slackers on the board. My side, lots of abuse. My mother and I do not speak. Ever. It's not anger, it's very involved. If I can figure out how to email, I can tell you more than you want to hear. Lets leave this, for now, at: My mom is not healthy for my children to be around.

I know what you mean about time for myself. I do my own nails and feel guilty about that. Working out is easy for me to avoid, I have plantars fascitis (?) and my foot hurts all the time. I don't workout though, because I just can't force myself up there. lol I do have the time, if I'm being honest. I just hate it.

I just got my hair cut professionally, I usually do it myself. That's me, lol

I LOVE 24, General Hospital (my first love was Luke Spencer!), American Idol, Inventor, House MD and I like to watch Court TV. I used to watch Wife Swap, but they seem to have homeschool moms on all the time and they are always NUT JOBS. Sooooo extreme and self righteous and often hateful. When anyone hears I homeschool, the only 'contact' they have with hs'ers is Wife Swap, and they think I lock my kids in the basement or work them all day. UGH

I chose to hs (homeschool) for so many reasons. DS1 was in K when they told me he was overly prepared.
DS 2 and DS1 were what I would call normally active 6 year old boys, but they wanted to drug them into a stupor and I was against it. That is an involved story in itself...

TMI But some background. I, too, have nieces that are in bad situations. I applaud you taking in your neice and giving her a better life!

How do we email eachother?

LOL Sorry, Im forgetful too LOL

Im going to be 39 next month and that is spurring me on to lose weight.

I worked at Fit 1 Fitness Center in Rancho Cordova and used to walk to work. I mostly lived in Rancho Cordova. At one time I lived 2 blocks from the Air Force base, Mather. I moved there by following a guy to the USAF, then stayed after we broke up a minute later lol.

I have been happily married for 13 years! Moved to Sacto from PA but now live in VA. (I refuse to live anywhere that doesn't end in A.) JK

Welp, I gave up on Friday. I know that lots of folks here can eat one way and feed their family a different way, or just eat the meat, whatever. But this doesn't work for me. Trying to keep my dh motivated is too hard and I don't want to do this alone.

Anyhow, I'm going to follow the CLA/GLA board and in a moment I am going to post a recipe I love, if I deem it low carb, then I'm out. lol

I'm so happy for you! Stay motivated! With school as well! We are learning about WW2 here, it's been fun really. I'm starting to get into it. DH and I watched Band Of Brothers for the first time...WOW, and amazing series. I had trouble thinking of Ross as a big jerk, but the role turned out convincing, lol

Hugs and blessings
Sheri
