Hi everyone

I do get the Stallone pudding on line here but GNC does carry it and they do charge more.

I have had major snack attacks past few days. I even at sweets at a baby shower I went to on Sunday and I never do that. But have been feeling major stress lately. I am going to take a gentle yoga class on Thursday so hopefully that will help.

Leslie: Will be thinking about you and the wedding Hope all goes well. Thats a good idea to take off time afterwards as you will need it.

Am working tomorrow so will see you Wed.

Morning all,

Am still recovering from the weekend.... All went well and had a good time.... but am sooooo glad it is over....

Did eat way too much though, and the scale is up 3 lbs.... hopefully it will come back off quick.... I really need to figure out why I am having so much trouble losing right now..... Am not doing something right....

Leslie: Will be thinking about you this week.... Hope all goes well and with little stress (or even no stress)....

Kayan: I have thought about ordering the pudding from here..... Have you tried all the flavors? I tend to eat when stressed also....

Sue: All that construction has got to be creating tons of dust also.... Hope all works out with your flowers....

Donna: Welcome aboard.....

We have actually been rain free for 2 days now.... Unreal all the rain we have had.... No we will be battling mosquitoes.....

Will be in training today and tomorrow at work.... Time to go start getting ready.....

Have a great day.....

Hi All,

Still so dry here and HOT!!! Yes, the dust gets on everything. Our cars are a mess, front porch floor is grimey and if they are close by forget leaving windows open even with nice weather!

My sister and I are planning to visit Havre de Grace in Harford Cty MD once this heat wave breaks. I've always wanted to check it out being at the south end of the Susquehanna River.

My son is still not back from TX--I am missing him. I hope he got at least a couple of days to explore old haunts and that it didn't rain all the time.

I *may* go out to the farm today if I am a sucker for punishment. Watering and deadheading are needed. I could restart work on the window sills too. Dunno.

Well, time to check on the coffee. Wheeeeeee!

Hi Ladies: Thought I would check in.

Pam, its good to hear all went well. I know what you mean about being glad its over. I'm that way about the wedding. I think I'm stressing more than I should. The good thing is its 100+ here today and tomorrow, but then we get a cooling trend and its only supposed to be low 80's this weekend. Thank goodness.

So if all you gained was 3 lbs, you did well. I probably will fall off the wagon this weekend with everything going on. We are required to keep food records for at least three days, so for me its going to be today, wed and thurs. I always do all 7 days, but with so much going on this week who knows what I will eat.

I've been having such cravings lately. I know I need to once again go back to induction standards to kick start my body into doing what's right. I have my group meeting this afternoon and I'm afraid I haven't really lost but maybe 2 lbs. over the month.

Sue: Hang in there with the hot weather and the dust. We are having a heat wave ourselves. My poor flowers. I've tried really hard to keep them happy, but only the strong (petunias and marigolds) like the heat.

I've got to clean my house a bit because of the people who are staying with us. They arrive Thursday and I haven't really even got started. Ahh so much to do.

Kayan: I will have to look at GNC. Its either pay for postage or pay the higher price. I will have to compare. GNC does have these bars called Oh Yeah. They are still pretty spendy, but good.

Have a great day. Stay cool.

Hey--
I'm getting ready to leave with my husband this morning--getting dropped off at Sis' house for our Havre de Grace day trip.
I've been indoors all week reading mostly and staying cool plus taking pics of the work going on outside. A motley looking crew has showed up to pour cement in the upper swales. They seem to be making forms and setting up rebar first.

I hope that the wedding goes wonderfully tomorrow, Leslie! I know you've been looking forward to it and also putting the stress of prep behind you! :-)

Hi Pam--at least no skeeters much this year. At the farm I have lately been plagued by biting flies--maybe deer flies, dunno. They hurt but not as much as the freakin' horseflies do if they get a bite!!!

Kayan--I hope your stress level drops. I've been reading the Perricone book that talks about anti-inflammation diets (primarily to help my son with his acne issues) and stress is a major contributor to cellular level inflammation. So, it's good that you are on top of it what with your zen room, etc. There are some parallels between a diabetic dietary program and P's recommendations. I am going to try this with my kid except that it may be a push to get him to eat lots of salmon. He doesn't like fish except for tuna.

Carolyn--if you are still reading any of this, do check in and let us know how you are doing. Also, Donna-are you still here?

TTFN!

Morning All

I took a gentle yoga class yesterday. I really enjoyed it and have downloaded a lot of the poses from the internet to practice here at home. Unfortunately next week is the last class till Fall. After Class I went to Dixmont, to see my mom. We both worked on the quilts we are making. She is doing well. My Aunt is still here, but leaving next Wed. Or Thur. to go to Wisconsin for a wedding then she will go back to Fla. That will be hard on mom because she will be alone then.

Leslie: Am thinking about you and the wedding this weekend. I am sure that everything will be just fine.

Pam: Only 3 pounds You will get them off in no time

Sue: Its is still dry here, but its been cool. a dip in the air systems has kept this part of Maine from getting the heat wave.

Knock on wood x3, but I think I am getting the stress eating under control, why we go through periods when we have no control, I wish I knew, but right now I am concentrating on making healthy choices. Before I eat it, I ask myself if it is healthy or not and decided if it is worth eating. Right now this seems to help, but back when I was eating all that ice cream it didn't matter. So go figure!!

hope everyone has a good day

off to practice some yoga poses

Afternoon Ladies

Leslie: How was the wedding?? Thinking about you

Pam and Sue: Hi

Work schedule is all mixed up for the next couple of weeks. Worked Yesterday (Sat) but have today, Sunday, off. work mon. then Fri & Sat again

My Aunt flies out on Wed. She has been staying with my mom since my dad died. Her daughter made a flight for 6 am. We live 2 hrs away from the airport and one has to arrive an hour early,,,,,,,,you can do the math!!!!!. I have checked with the hotels in the area the cheapest is over a $100. Everyone is working so that leaves me to take them to the airport.

I guess this is where the Yoga I have been practicing will come in handy

everyone have a good day and will catch you later

Hi Ladies:

We survived. The wedding went great. The bride was beautiful. The groom was fantastic. The guys and gals looked great and my DH in a tux, although a fish out of water, he looked fantastic!

I have a lot of errands to run today so I'm off work. I still have company staying at our house. I think they are leaving tomorrow morning. I have to go to work anyway. My sis is staying at my mom's. She departs on Thursday. I think I to have her at the airport at 8:30, so I will just go to work late that day.

Kayan: At least PDX is close. It's only about 15 minutes away. So I don't have to worry about a long commute and no sleep when an early flight. In fact I drop the honeymooners off tonight. Their plain leaves at midnight or something so I will drop them at around 10 pm.

Pam: I am glad it's over. Hopefully next weekend I can recover and get my house back to normal.

Have a great day everyone.

Leslie--
I'm so glad everything went well and that you were pleased with the outcome! Do you start to look around and ask yourself, "Now what?" after such a major milestone?!

I have been putting the ducks and chickens outside, i.e. on the enclosed porch or a covered cage so that they can get adjusted to the great outdoors. Everyone is fledging and the ducks have gotten HUGE. For only a month old, I can't believe it! Maybe I am used to smaller birds or slower growers!

I am doing odds and ends around the house prior to making an errand run about town. Gonna stop at the paint store too. I figure if I get some ceilings painted, we can get fans installed in the other boys bedrooms and cut back on the AC as the only way to cool the rooms right now in the summer. Even on nice days, we can't have the windows open without dirt floating in from the construction site.

At the farm, we staked the bramble rows, so now it will be easier to guide their shapes and mow between the rows. Other than water, water,water--we are at the last of the peas, picking lettuce, turnips, potatoes, onions, garlic and chard. Tomatoes are still green, not much on the peppers except for some early non-bell types. FLowers are perking along--I notice the zinnas the most now since there are a lot and they are so colorful. With the lack of rain, everything seems more hazy and soft when taking pictures against the dried grass. I hardly need to mow except near the beds since that's all that gets water!

Back to kitchen and laundry duty!

I hope you all have a great day.
(Photo is from June when the lilies were really nice at Meadowbrook.)

Okay, I read my post from yesterday and I must have been tired. I misspelled PLANE! Good grief.

My nieces leave this morning. I'm back at work. Hopefully things will return to normal. I've gained 3 lbs and am really frustrated. I know it's because I haven't exercised and have NOT stayed on plan. I tried really hard yesterday to stay on plan but there were too many temptations. Today is another day.

Sue I love your lillies. My gladiolas are blooming now and look so pretty. We got a spit of rain last night and are supposed to throughout the day. I'm not letting that stop me from walking at lunch time. I've got to get my body moving again. If I'm really ambitious, I will go to the gym too.

I feel bad about all the dirt and dust for you. It does tend to float in the windows. We had our little room a/c that my DH bought a couple of weeks ago going full time to cool the house so the wedding flowers would stay fresh. I'm so glad we were able to turn it off. I was walking around the house in jeans and a sweatshirt in 90 degree weather!

Have a great day everyone.

I'm checking in again

Hi girls, I am just checking in to let you know that I am still here. I read some of your posts a couple of weeks ago and just didn't have the time to post right then.

Life is still in the blender here. I am waffling on the leaving home issue. Right now I am just unbelievably busy. I am still teaching classes at Christian Women's Job Corp. for the summer. I'm working part-time as well, while searching diligently for full-time employment.

My husband is taking a job in Austin and will be commuting every day beginning in September.

Starting today I am (once again) beginning induction. I haven't gained any weight in a while now, but I certainly have not lost any either.

Well I hear my bed calling me. I have to hit the ground running tomorrow.

Hugs,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn: Good to hear from you.

Sounds like you are really busy. It would be very difficult making a decision whether to leave or not. There is so much at stake. I hope your life will bring good indicators to help you decide. I have had a time or two over the last 26 years where I thought about leaving, but events happen to regenerate our relationship and sticking it out has always proven to be the best course for me to take.

Well ladies, I stayed true to plan except for the piece of cake I ate last night. I'm down .5 today so I feel a little better. We have so many goodies at home it's hard to resist. Believe me, after they are gone and my cupbords and fridge are clean of the high carb stuff, I will do much better. Going to work helps because I only bring LC stuff to eat. And I am walking at lunch, rain or shine. Thank goodness it didn't rain on the wedding day.

Til later.

Hey gals,

Carolyn! I'm so glad you checked in so that we know you are OK.

Well, I am so HOT!! I've been painting the hallway upstairs--it's about 70 feet long and I'm working on the ceiling-cutting in and rolling every 25 feet. I had hoped one coat would do, but this ceiling takes paint unevenly and looks blotchy with one coat. Darn it! Meanwhile, the AC doesn't cool down the hallway since it only affects the adjacent rooms and I am suffering especially up close to the ceiling. BLEAH. This is one day where I feel like anything but that chore is a blur as in, uh, what else did I do???

We have a "guest" of sorts-- a friend of my oldest son who had a MAJOR falling out with his girlfriend several weeks ago and was kicked out, not able to get his stuff since she is vindictive and police are involved. He has been sleeping on the downstairs couch and doesn't seem to be in a big hurry to find another place. He has no car and relies on Son1 to ferry him around to work, etc. At 26, he ought to be way more independent than he is. Anyway, we put up with him before when he dropped out of school with ONE lousy class left to take at an expensive private college --all it would have taken to graduate-- because he "burned out" and so now does odd jobs about town. Total waste. Anyway--can you tell I am wanting to get him out of the house and into his own apartment?!

Leslie, you sure are motivated! I just can't right now--not until garden season is over!
Guess I've cooled down just enough to go back and suffer upstairs with painting again. SIgh.

Hi Sue:

I'm actually jealous of your painting. So much of the inside of my house needs it. And let's not discuss the outside. I have to bite the big one and just do it. I think I will start small and do the bathroom. I've been saying for years that I'm going to paint it. I have a week off at the end of August to do nothing, so perhaps that will be project number 1.

No weight loss to report today. In fact, I'm up. Pleh, we have so much CAKE left, and unfortunately, it's so good. I've got to stop eating it. I brought ALL LC today for breakfast and lunch to work. Now if I could just get through dinner.

Have a great day everone.

Afternoon Ladies

Been busy with work and going up to mom's.. DD2 is bringing her BF home for us to meet today. Have a busy work schedule next 2 weeks working 11 out of 15 days so will check in when I can

Carolyn: Glad to hear from you.

Leslie: I bet the weeding was beautiful and went off without any problems.

Sue: You are so busy as usual. Lets hope your "guest" gets tired of sleeping on the couch soon. My hat is off to you for doing your own painting. We hired my uncle to do most of ours this spring. We did do 2 small rooms our self. My Zen room and DH den.

Everyone have a good day and may "good choices" be with you

Okay, someone remind me how long can "induction flu" last? I never had this the first time. I feel so weak and puny. What causes it? I can't find my book anymore.

Hi ladies: Just a quick check in. I had my 30-year high school reunion on Friday. What a BLAST. We had such a great time. Not many of my close friends showed, but I still had fun anyway and we got contact information for everyone.

Still no weight loss to report. Ugh, I wish the weight I put on last week would freakin' come off.

Carolyn: I had induction flu for 2 weeks. I was so weak, shaky and grouchy. It felt like drug withdrawal. It's your body adjusting to no carbs or sugar. I sorta went back on induction last week and the symptoms returned for a day or two, then I cheated and had some berries. I need to stick with the induction menu but dont' seem to have the will power.

I had jury duty today. I'm a paralegal so, of course, I got kicked off. What a waste of a day. Oh well, I don't have to do it for two years. Yea!

Kayan: Don't work too hard. Let us know what you think of the BF.

Until next time.

Carolyn-
Heya! I felt horrid for about 3 days when I went on Induction for the first time.

This is going to be fast--I haven't had anything to eat today and I am starting to feel my blood sugar drop and a stomach ache. I was out running errands this morning and just got back.

I am going to paint one long side of the hall today since I have done the cutting in. I still have some kitchen clean up to do.

This is kind of a slow period in general--waiting on the major garden stuff to ripen before (hopefully) a large harvest that gets canned. All we do is water since even the lawn isn't growing--our drought situation is dire in Maryland and Pennsylvania. THis is when the rain is most needed for the harvest but it is too scattered to do much. We need a hurricane or one of the stratus cloud events that just blankets the area with rain for days.

My Mom was in the hospital for (another) leg infection--darn cellulitis/diabetes whatever complications but is home now. THey put her on intravenous antibiotics since the oral stuff they put her on wasn't working when she first discovered an infection was imminent. The problem in part is stasis and too much sitting. She is very set in her ways as far as (not) pushing herself to do what is *really* needed for her health. I just don't understand that mindset!

Anyway--thought I'd check in. Time to go EAT!

Hi Sue: My oldest sister is the same way. She has cellulitis. She came to visit for the wedding and got really sick with it. She has diabetes too, so she watches close for infection. I think it's her meds that make her sick.

That's why I'm pushing so hard to stay healthy. I want to be able to move as freely as I do now when I'm in my 80's.

We, too, have been really dry. My sister (texas) commented on how dry the land looked when she flew over it. Of course TX has been onslaughted with rain. In fact, when my nieces got back yesterday, they said it was pouring. We got a little bit of rain but not enough to really water anything. It rained really hard on the coast, but dissipated by the time the clouds got over us.

Until later.

Hi all,

Been really busy this week......... with work and then on call for Jury Duty....

And then there is the rain..... We had just under 5 inches in a couple of hours on Monday....... had more yesterday and more to come.... Leslie and Sue, would gladly share some of this rain if I could.... We are so tired of it....... The ground is so saturated that it can't hold anymore and our lakes are full and overflowing....

Am staying on track with eating.... but no loss to report....

Gotta go make a breakfast casserole for work this morning.....

Have a good day....

HI Pam: So what do you put in your breakfast casserole?

I usually make eggs with fresh mushrooms and a little cheddar cheese for breakfast. I found these egg starters at costco with no cholesterol and no fat and have been using them. I don't feel so bad eating them daily. It hasn't made any difference in weight loss though so whatever. But it opens up the option for me to have oatmeal later in the day. They also beat up nice and fluffy for fake pancakes.

It's funny we were both called to jury duty in the same week.

Yah, my sis and nieces are from Tx and they are also tired of the rain. Although it hasn't rained here, we haven't had scorchingly hot weather. A few 90+ days, but not many. It's been rather pleasant. We lucked out for the wedding, low to mid 80's.

Gotta go. It was good to hear from you.

Hi Sue, and Kayan, don't work to hard either of you.

Morning,

Rain, rain, and more rain.............. We are under a flash flood watch again today until midnight tonight.....

Leslie: The casserole I make now is a modified version of the one I made before LC..... It had bread in it.... We make this quite often at our house....

A chub of sausage
small can of diced green chilies
12 eggs
8 oz of shredded cheese (I use colby and jack blend)

Spray a 9x13 glass pan with PAM. Then brown a chub of sausage and put it in the pan. Spread the can of chilies over the sausage. Mix up the eggs as though you were going to scaramble them adding a little half and half.... Pour over the sausage. Spread the shredded cheese on top of the eggs. Then bake at 350 for approximately 50-55 minutes until the top is golden... Cut into squares and serve. Is really good with salsa, guacamole, sour cream....

Seems like I get a jury summons every couple of years (while DH never gets them)..... Was chosen for a jury about 3 years ago... At least this time I didn't actually have to go downtown... Just had to keep calling in.....

Time to go start getting ready...... Hope everyone has a good day.....

Hey Pam, Leslie, Kayan and Carolyn--

Yeah send us some rain here!!
I spent the day at Meadowbrook--I'll see if I can find a good pic of the veg garden to upload. Yesterday was weed, deadhead and cutback day which took quite a long time. Also I kept finding poison ivy in my flower gardens that I had to pull out. YUCK. Bought a new heavy duty sprinkler (the kind with the ground spike) that is supposed to cover 5800 sf. Having the best and most appropriate tools is very important! Newest flowers in yesterday's inspection were tithonia (Mexican sunflower), balsam, low growing zinnias, phlox and Mexican hats. I pulled all the yellow onions and shallots yesterday and wished we had allocated more space! I need to find out what types are the best keepers and grow those and get some perennial onions too. Most garlic has been pulled to dry, but there's still more in the bed. Same with potatoes. I bought buckwheat seed to sow as a cover crop when all is cleared out.

What veggies are you gals allowing yourselves at this point in your individual programs?

I have hopes of painting my hall today. I had no energy earlier in the week, then couldn't stand without pain (I suffer from heel cracks on occasion) then had farm duty. So, today's the day I have to get a move on. Tomorrow a mason is coming to give us a quote on fixing the stone work around the house (2 sets of stairs, walkway, patio and some areas on the house itself). I shudder to think of what the estimate is going to be!

New pic shows about 1/3 of veg garden from a particular angle. See how dry the grass is??

Have a great day everyone!

Sue
