Hi Leslie,
I sneaked a peek at the scale today--no changes yet. Heck. I'd love to plant something but it is sleeting and snowing alternately here! It's a big deal for Mom since they don't get a whole lot of snow in SC. But she feels the cold (an upstate NYer, too! I told here she can no longer hold her head up by her ancestors! ;-) and stays wrapped up from head to foot in blankets. My Dad calls and tells her how wonderful the weather is down there! Unless it gets called off or think the back roads are impassable, I will be driving through the snowy aftermath to get tothe grafting workshop. I'm not sure what the situation will be tomorrow morning, but knowing my tire situation, I may use DH's car. I started playing with crochet hooks last night to see if my hands would remember what to do and it's coming back. YAY! That's good since the lady who wants to meet contacted me with a definite date for Wednesday afternoon. Coffee shops are nice places to meet for the first time, IMHO. Well, I'm going to check on Mom. Ta! Sue Last edited by Suji : 03-16-2007 at 11:15 AM. |

Morning all,
Actually slept in until 7:00 yesterday and then the internet was down in the am... So didn't get time to post.... Eating and drinking still on track... but haven't made it to exercise this week.... Have gotten most of the inlaws pics and slides scanned.... Now the real work begins fixing pics with problems and then designing a video for their 50th anniv.... I am amazed at how unorganized her photos are... and she prides herself on her organization skills... Drs visit went well... no problems... had a bone density test done... now to wait on the results from that and the blood work... Sue: I saw that your weather was pretty nasty yesterday.... Hope all is well and you are safe and warm... Glad that you are enjoying your visit with your mom... I haven't crocheted in years... Never was great at it just dabbled a bit... I did notice some new growth on my passion vine this week... Leslie: How are you feeling today? Hope the blues have turned to roses... Sometimes the blues just come on us with no reason or warning... It appears we are having the same issues with portions... I too am staying on track with eating and drinking, but get the munchies in the evenings... DH and I went to see the movie Wild Hogs yesterday afternoon.... It is pretty good... several funny moments... I also want to see the new Sandra Bullock movie that cam out yesterday, Premonition.... Looks really good... Supposed to be a beautiful day here today... really need to get my nose out of the comupter and get some work done in the flower beds.... Hope everyone has a great LC day....

Hey, I'm back. YAWN! Slept so poorly last night and then had to force myself up early to scrape snow and ice off my car. Our driveway was the worst, but most of the backroads had been plowed. Still some were half plowed or still had the pavement covered with a layer of hardpack snow. Even Rt 30 in PA wasn't great. Still-I got there and have 8 new baby grafted apples and one pear that I did myself under the tutelage of one of the guys there. :-)
I didn't have lunch so was starving when I got home--tore open a package of ham slices and a couple of frankfurters. Not the best but between tiredness and hunger I wasn't thinking about better choices. :-/ I like a number of the Sandra Bullock movies myself. Enjoy your day, Pam. Sue |

Hi Pam and Sue:
Pam, I love Sandra Bullock movies. I can't wait to see the new one. I think the source of my blues yesterday is I was feeling really fat. I'm the biggest one in my group and everyone is close to their goal. I have so much more to lose. The girl I walk with on the weekends is down to 160 which is where I want to be. But she only had 35 lbs to lose to get there. It's going to take a while for me to get there. So while everyone is on maintenance, I will still be trying to lose. Oh well, I had a really busy day today. I did my morning walk, ran my explorer through the car wash, got gas, cleaned house, did 5 loads of laundry, cooked a turkey for dinner, mowed the lawn, planted 12 panzies in my front flower bed, went to Costco and Walmart. Surprisingly, I didn't buy much at Walmart except Atkins shakes and the panzies. So glad your dr appt went well. That's always such a relief. Sue: We have had such beautiful weather here. I couldn't resist putting some flowers in the beds. I hope it warms up for you soon. We are expecting rain tomorrow though. So much for my nice clean car. Have a great day tomorrow. ![]()

Morning,
Was a little windy but a nice sunny day yesterday... Didn't eat much yesterday and only drank about 2 liters of water.... Worked more on the pics for the inlaws video.... still have a few more to scan but not much... Sue: glad to hear that your trip was a safe one.... Leslie: I understand about having a way to go before getting to maintenance... I am right there with you.... Really thought I would be there already... but oh well, have to remember that I have come a long way also... Keep your chin up... WTG on getting flower beds going.... DH got our lawn mowed and beds cleaned out yesterday.... Need to get some emails finished before getting ready for church.... Have a great day... |

Hi Pam: Not much going on here except it's so beautiful. The trees are blooming, daffodils fill the flower beds (except mine) and it's so warm. We have our windows open to air out the house. The ants are back. I took care of the ones in the kitchen (found a catch all cure last year that works great) first sign of them and boom, they are gone. The cool thing is the treatment is for outdoors. No more raid spray in the kitchen. Ewww. Well now we have larger ones in the laundry room???? Go figure. Anywho, it's time to get more ant stuff from Home Depot.
I roasted a turkey yesterday so that's what's for dinner tonight. My water consumption is way down today. I had a diet coke which I don't usually indulge in. So I hope I'm not harmed by it come Tuesday's weigh in. Well it finally happened. For some reason, today about 5 people at church said something about my weight loss. Why today? Why not last week or the week before that? HMMM. I wasn't wearing anything different, but something must look different. Oh, you can definitely tell in my face. My building has these full glass reflective windows. Friday when I walked by one it didn't look like me. So yay for me. I suppose the scale doesn't have to have much to do with it and I shouldn't fret about it so much. The sad part is the church is putting together a picture directory of all the members. My pic was taken last September. It's horrible. Talk about a great before picture. Ugh! Have a great evening. Hi Sue, Kayan and Carolyn. |

Happy Monday Morning,
Well it is back to work for me today.... Enjoyed the time off from work, but sure could use more... Eating and drinking on track... Leslie: Congrats on people noticing your hard work.... It is a nice feeling.... We had to treat for fire ants in the backyard this past weekend... They seem to pop up right after rains... Not in the house though... Weather here this week is supposed to be rainy starting Wed and lasting through the week... Time to go start getting ready.... Have a great day.... |

Hi Pam: Sorry you have to go back to work. My family keeps begging me to take our spring break week off next week. I'm not sure what it is but it's my busiest time of year. It's really hard to take off. I'm thinking of taking perhaps Thursday and Friday off to go skiing, but it depends on my work load.
I got a bit of a reprieve this morning. My son didn't have jazz this morning so I didn't have to run him to school. I found myself with all kinds of extra time to get ready for work, do laundry, empty the dishwasher, etc. before I had to leave. DD1 has her grad school interview today at 9:30. I'm so nervous for her. I hope she does well. I told her to call me as soon as its over. She's already been informed what the questions will be from others who have already been through it. I do have confidence in her though. She has so much experience under her belt when it comes to lesson planning and working with children. We are supposed to get back into rainy weather but that's what they said for yesterday and it was beautiful. I'm going to tie into my larger flower bed and the side yard next weekend I think and get some more flowers in. Have a great day. |

Hi everyone--
Today just got away from me. I am not spending as much time in the computer room with Mom here. I *blanked* and went off plan today. I had made a 16 bean soup, salad and corn bread and next thing I knew I was sitting down at the table (which we hardly ever do!) and I had eaten most all on my plate. How weird! I guess I was paying attention to my Mom talking or something and just kind of absently made a plate for myself. :-/ I guess it will be M/E tomorrow! We're off to stitchery group tomorrow in late morning. I finally sewing the seam on my mitten. Done! And finished a scarf started a few years back and gave it to Ma. :-) Again, sorry for my sparse postings. It will probably be like this until Mom goes back to SC.(!!) Sue, the addled |

Morning,
Just a normal day back in the office yesterday.... Eating and drinking on track.... along with exercise.... A friend of DD's was killed in a car accident Friday morning.... She was broadsided after dropping her 5yr old son at school pulling out of the parking lot.... Services will be this weekend.... The accident happened in NC and they are flying to body back here today.... She leaves a husband and two small children... So tragic.... DS went skydiving for the first time this past weekend.... He was so excited about it.... and said it was great... can't wait to see the pics..... Leslie: How did DDs interview go? Hopefully went well.... That is one of the nice things about working for the school district... Everyone is off for the spring break.... Sue: Understand totally what you mean about eating something and not even realizing it.... Have done that myself.... Don't worry about not posting.... Enjoy your time with your mom... Should be a pretty day today then turning to rain tomorrow..... Off to get more coffee and get ready for work.... Hope everyone has a good day.... |

Thought I'd get in a little early.
Pam, what a tragic accident. I feel so awful when I read things like that. :-( I sure hope that friends and family rally around to support the kids and her husband until they can handle her loss. The sun is just coming up and flooding the room with a golden light! Now if only the actual weather conditions would be so beneficent! A lday from the garden club called to tell me about an outing they are having to a garden luncheon. I'd like to take Mom, but she is so sensitive to the cold these days and I guess the luncheon is outdoors. I have to have the heat up or she sits near the blower when it's on. Otherwise wears sweaters and and hat and blankets. What causes people to feel cold when the rest of us don't notice it? Is it a thyroid thing? I'm clueless. Later! Sue |

Good morning everybody, I'm packing like mad, our closing is on Friday. We spent time at the new place over the weekend and the property is so beautiful and peaceful, I wish we had chosen it in the first place. We are going to be on top of a hill where you can see for miles around. The only noise there is the sound of birds singing and cattle in the distance.
I went back on Atkins on Friday, and I'm already down 5lbs, mostly water I guess. Leslie I am so impressed with your progress It must be a great feeling to have other people notice that you are shrinking. I look forward to that.Did DS make the golf team? How did your daughter's interview go? Pam, I am so sorry about your daughter's friend, and I'll keep her family in my prayers. Sue, is that your little Chicklett in the yard? I have convinced DH that we need to buy more chickens once we are settled in. I can't wait for those pretty little brown eggs, and to wake up to the sound of the rooster. Well, gotta run, Trigger is pacing back and forth with his leash in his mouth. Carolyn |

Hey Everyone:
Good to hear from you Carolyn: I'm surprised you had time to post with all the packing and moving and things. It's so fun to start fresh in a new place and it's also a great time to clean things out. We are so looking forward to that in a few years. Great job going back on Atkins. 5 lbs? Phew, that's a lot. Fantastic. .Pam: I'm so sorry to hear about your DD's friend. What a tragedy. Those poor children and husband. I can't even closely imagine.Your DS went skydiving? Coooool. I wish I had the nerve to do it. Sue: Could be your mom's thyroid. If it's underactive that would make her cold. I know from experience. It also reduces your energy levels. You said you were going to do M/E. In a challenge I'm in everyone is doing it. The losses are incredible, but evidently after a few days you get kind of an upset stomach. I can't do it because I need to stay on plan with the study. Anyway, they do it and then get back on veggies by doing induction for a week or two. It really seems to work. DD1's interview went great. She went in very prepared. She said the professors seemed to be impressed. She found out, if she gets in, she can get her teaching certificates and her master's all in one. She may have to go through summer of 2008 to accomplish that, but she's okay with that. DS is still on the bubble in golf. He played yesterday in the pouring rain. Got soaked. He has to miss today because he's been pulled out of so many classes for wind ensemble things, he has a science lab to make up. Fortunately, that's his favorite subject. I weigh in today at my group. Keep you fingers crossed. My scale at home says I haven't lost anything, so I'm not too optomistic, but usually I see something. Anyway, I will try not to be a whiner if I don't lose. Have a fabulous day. ![]() Last edited by Dreamcometru : 03-20-2007 at 09:28 AM. |

Morning,
Another good day as far as eating, drinking, and exercise goes.... but still no new loss to report.... DS said the skydiving was awesome... He had a wonderful time and is already talking about doing it again... Carolyn: Good job on the loss..... Sounds like the packing is really taking shape.... You will be moved beofre you know it.... Saw the first bluebonnets last weekend.... Leslie: Glad to hear that DDs intervie went so well.... How long will she have to wait to find out? Your DS is so dedicated... Sure hope he makes the team... How did the weigh in go? Sue: Glad to hear that you are enjoying the time with your mom..... My mom is very cold natured... Always has been... We tease that if it is below 80 she is cold.... Leslie could be right though about the thyroid, if this is a new thing for her.... Off to get ready for work... supposed to rain most of the day today.... |

Carolyn-
I'm thrilled for you! Your excitement is contagious! Son3 has a track meet today. Early dismissal from school that gets taken up by leaving for track. :-/ I don't know why neither of my two younger boys ever gets a school locker. They lug these HEAVY backpacks around all day long from class to class. If there's an extra curricular activity, they have to somehow force that additional stuff into the bag--won't carry more weight in a gym bag... SIgh. ANyway--he won't return until 9 and then has homework to do. Blech. It was relatively convenient last year since SOn2 had his car at school and used that to stow the excess and to get home earlier. Took Mom to stitchery group yesterday. I think she had a nice time and the ladies were kind and welcoming. THere are more close to her age anyway with me being the youngster. :-) Today my knit friend may come by again and then I'll take mom tyo experience the coffee house while meeting with the crochet lady. I'm so glad it's spring at last (technically). Still blustery and cold of course. I am getting antsy to get stuff started in the garden, but we're still so water logged with rain and then snow melt. You aren't supposed to dig in the dirt then or you wreck the consistency of the soil--especially if there's much clay present. TTFN! Sue PS Yes, that is a March pic of Chicklet! |

Hi Pam and Sue:
My weigh in went okay. I'm down 1.2 lbs for the week. Not much, but not a gain so I'm alright with that. I hit the big cheat last night though. Today is our 26th anniversary. I don't have a gift for DH, but he said he wanted some oatmeal cookies, so I made him a batch last night for his anniversary gift. We haven't had goodies in the house since Christmas. The dough was so good. I couldn't resist, let alone the cookies themselves. BUT, that's over and I've moved on. I must say, it was worth it to have something different. Hopefully that will forestall any further cravings I might have for a while.Pam: DD1 said letters informing of whether she makes the program or not go out this Friday, so she expects to know hopefully by the beginning of next week if she got in. I so hope she did. Sue: I can relate to the kids having so much going on at school and then late nights doing homework. DS had his science lab after school. Then wind ensemble rehearsal until 9:00 pm last night and a bundle of homework to do. He was up until midnight. Kids seem to have so much put on them at one time. I guess it teaches them time management skills or something. It was only 30 degrees when I got up this morning, but it's so bright and sunny outside. Looking forward to my lunch hour walk. Have a fabulous day. Leslie |

Hi Pam and Leslie,
It's supposed to be high 60's to 70's (depending) in MD today, so I guess we're off to the farm. Some of my orders came in and since they are bareroot, I must do something--either pot up or heel in or set out. This weather has not been great for drying out the soil--unfortunately! I am longing to get some peas in the ground, but they'd probably rot. It gets discouraging on the gardening lists with people writing how much they've already got going!!! Mom enjoyed the coffee house yesterday and the crochet lady (her age). Mom even worked at some crochet and did a pretty darn good job on her practice piece. :-) Not bad for someone who hasn't touched crochet in decades. This lady mentioned an interesting activity she's involved with--she calls it playing cowgirl. I guess people dress up in cowboy/gunslinger outfits and do all kinds of "target" practice with 45's, rifles, etc. and socialize. They have mounted shoots, matches, posse shoots, banquets and dances all in the name of playing cowboy. (Check out the organization sassnet.com for a better explanation than I just gave.) Sounds like fun! After the farm, we're off south for fencing and socializing with sis and family. Talk to you later. Gonna have fresh kale today--spring time and we ought to get some "blood purifiers" into our systems. :-) Later! Sue Last edited by Suji : 03-22-2007 at 05:29 AM. |

Hi Pam and Sue:
Well, the word is in. DD1 made it into the program. She received an unofficial email yesterday and should receive her confirmation letter next week. She will be able to get her certificates and her Masters all rolled into one year, possibly one extra term, so she starts summer and hopefully will end next spring. She was so excited. I am so relieved and happy for her. Not much else happened yesterday. It was our anniversary, but we didn't do anything. DH isn't much for making a fuss over any special occasion. Oh well. I was a good girl and only ate what I should. I don't think I consumed as much water as I should have. I did drink some green tea. Fortunately my scale stayed the same. Sue, it sounds like you are having such a marvelous time with your mom. The cowboy thing, yah, that could be fun. I've always wanted to go to a big ole' barn dance. Have a great day. |

Hi All
I am back!!! had a wonderful time but I din't win the big jack pot, so had to return to work. Day off today, but have to leave shortly, have an appt in Augusta about 45 min away. DH just called he will be late, of course as we have to pick out new paint for the living room. I have hired some one to paint our rooms as they desperately needed it and we never seem to get around to do it. We picked out a pale yellow, wanted to try something different to brighten it up and Boy did we. It is a little to bright, so need to get something else by tomorrow so the painter can put it on. The Kitchen looks wonderful and so does the entry way and hall way. I am going to simplify things when I put things back and and weed out. We ended up leaving earlier on Thursday afternoon I got out of work early and we drove straight through to Atalantic city to keep ahead of the storm we left at 4:45 aand arrived at 1:30. Sounds like everyone has been busy hopefully spring is going to get her, should warm up tomorrow, we had more freezing rain last night but have melted now Carolyn and Leslie congrats on your wght loss. Pam sorry to hear about your DD friend in NY. Did the weather have anything to do with it. it was terrible there friday running out of time will post more later Kayan |

Good Evening Everyone
Well it's really pretty late here and I'm still up. I shouldn't be though. I am going to go pick up my books and attend some sort of orientation tomorrow morning for school, and then tomorrow afternoon we are finally going to the closing on the sale of the farm. There has been some sort of hold up at the bank and the funds will not be forwarded to the escrow officer until next week. I don't know exactly why, but DH does, and he is telling me not to worry my pretty little head. I don't say a lot because I handled my parent's and sister's estates and the sale of their homes without asking for his input, so I guess this is fair play. He tells me that the only thing I need to worry about is packing, so that's what I have been doing. I am going to be making multiple trips to Goodwill to drop things off. The brothers are all splitting up the antique furniture and things, and we are coming away with some truly beautiful old pieces, which means that some of our own things will have to go.
Well, I am going say Goodnight for now, I hope that you all have a restful night. Sue, I really want to play cowgirl too. Carolyn |

Morning Ladies,
Something has knocked me out of ketosis.... Not sure what has happened.... but will drop way down on carbs to try to get back.... Carolyn: Hope all goes well with the closing today.... I love antiques... Have several pieces... Sounds like you are getting ready for school also... Kayan: Welcome back... glad to hear that you had a good time.... From what I know the weather wasn't a factor... It was in N Carolina.... There was an article and picture of the care in their paper there yesterday.... from that is was so good that the kids weren't in the car with her... Leslie: WTG for DD on making the program.... That is awesome.... Sue: So glad that you are having such fun with your mom and the visit.... We are having rain here most of the week and into next week.... so not getting much yard stuff done.... So glad its Friday.... this will be a tough weekend though... visitation is tonight and the services are tomorrow... DD has asked if several of the "gang" can come over tomorrow evening to hang out... So I need to make sure there are plenty of munchies and drinks for them... Gotta run.... Hope everyone has a terrific LC day..... |
