Hi Anna,

It is so nice to be able to talk to someone from around here! My husband and I lived in Missoula for 6 years. All of my kids were born there, including my youngest who is 9 months old.

I have fought my husband about Atkins, thinking it must be a terrible way to diet, but am coming around after doing a lot of reading. Also, the weight just wasn't coming off doing it the way that I thought it should be done, so I am committed to giving this a try. I never used to be this heavy and I am just sick of it. Also, I desperately want to avoid any weight related illnesses that are so common with obesity.

It has been hard to avoid sugar and bread, but I am managing. I found a great recipe for a cauliflower cassarole that the whole family enjoyed, even our 7 year old boy. I also made a crustless Atkins cheesecake tonight that was pretty good. I find that I stay full on this diet and don't really need to snack that much, which is good. Most diets leave me feeling so hungry. I think with this one, it is just a matter of finding things that you can eat, that you really enjoy.

If you have any advice, I would love to hear it. Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!

Maria

First of all
CONGRATULATIONS
for the "relatively" new baby ( 9 month old). They are such joy.
My kids are 9 dd, 6 ds, 3 dd. We would like to have a couple more, but just have to see.
What I could not believe was that I could eat cheese, butter, steak, dressing, that is not low fat. It was deliberating. All my life I was on some kind of diet. Starving, slim fast, extremely low calorie and avoid that so called "evil fat". It was amazing. We had breakfast, nice lunch and full dinner. My kids have been on Atkins too with some exemptions. We cut the sugar pretty much down during the week. It makes a big difference.

How far into Atkins are you?

The only pitfall we had with this is once you lost the weight I got careless ( with legal food and than other stuff started creeping back in---25 lbs in 5 months yuck) in order to loose for me I must be as strict as possible.

The cheese cake is to die for. Yummy!!! All other family members do like most recipes .
It gets easier with time. Have boiled eggs ready, celery stick with creamcheese or dressing, have hamburgers ready or any meat leftovers and eat when you hungry or would go for something bad. It helps. My Dh dropped 75 lbs and I 40 lbs. we just recently cleaned up our act and it would be nice to stay in contact so we can help each other out.
Have a very nice day, maybe the sun is here to stay?

Hi Anna,

So sorry that is has been a while since I posted. I sometimes still have trouble trying to organize my days, homeschooling my oldest with the new little one under foot. It sure keeps me busy enough.

I decided to try Atkins a few weeks ago and have lost 5 pounds so far. My trouble is the weekends. Hubby likes to eat what he wants on the weekends and therefore I am not making the progress that I should. It is still slowly coming off, but I would like to see faster results. I would love to be back down to my wedding weight of 15 years ago, sometime this summer. That was 180 pounds. A long way to go, but it should be possible. I am also starting to add a daily walk into my routine and am anxious to see how that helps.

How are you doing? Hope the week is going well for you.

Maria

First of all Congratulations on your weightloss. Once it starts and you do not cheat it will just fall off. for the first week it is about 1 # a day and than slows to 0.5 -0.3 a day. I just have to be really strict.

Homeschooling, I had to smile. We homeschool all of our kids (3 )
It is a lot of fun and I know what you mean with being busy. Maybe we can do a field trip together. Sounds like fun. I do not know many people around here that homeschool. Most are church affiliated.

I need to start walking again. It just has not been so nice. Well I just have to stop making excuses. Summer will be here in no time.
Hope to talk to you soon...Anna
