Support and Encouragement Needed

Hi - I have been on Atkins since October of 2003, I will be honest and say that I have strayed a meal or two on the way. I have been on a plateau for awhile now. I try to exercise, but with two kids and working it doesn't seem to fit in every day or as much as I would like. Would love to have someone to share ideas and help when there are occasions that come up that may compromise the plan.

I am looking for help with support and encouragement to get me started losing again and also help someone else on their weight loss journey.

Hi Carla,

I am in a stall right now too - I posted on another board and someone suggested that I do induction phase - so here I am as of Sunday and doing great so far.

I started South Beach last May at 212# - today I weighed in at 157. I have been on a stall since Jan. - its so frustrating. I did have surgery in Jan and wasn't able to stay on the program because of dietary requirments - (I had colon surgery..I know, TMI). As soon as I was able, I jumped right back on the program...no weight loss in 5 months. South Beached worked great for 8 months..I am now doing Atkins - I am hoping that this one pound weight loss since Sunday has broke my stall.

I sure understand about the no time to exercise - You are certainly not the Lone Ranger.

If you want to correspond, share ideas and support each other..I am willing and able.

BTW - where in MN are you? I am from MN, transplanted in So Cal and moving to ND next year.

Don't give up... you can win this battle - there were times I was ready to throw in the towel... I just keep going..I figure, eventually the scale has to move..hopefully down.

Newbie

Hi! I just joined low carb friends because I need support. I started Atkins in October of 2003 and I weighed about 230 lbs. Today, I am down to 170. I still have a long way to go but I feel better and I am looking better too. I have 5 children so I do not have a lot of time to exercise but I am trying to just a little. I am still doing the induction phase of Atkins and I don't feel like I am missing anything at all.

I hope to hear from all of you with your success stories!

Welcome Teresa,

Guess we are all in this together - its nice to have support and encouragement from others that are in the same boat. You have done well - 60# is great!!

My hat is off to you - 5 kids!! You are one busy woman! I had trouble keeping up with one.

You have been on induction since Oct? wow..not sure if I could have done it that long. It's pretty easy but I run out of ideas as to what to eat and get bored eating the same thing all the time.

I am open to any new food ideas that are legal - share if you will.

As you know I am in a stall right now..ugh. The scale did move this morning so I am hoping it will keep moving...this stall really delayed everything for me..its so frustrating.

Share your success secrets...

Hi Kathy, you have done great on both South Beach and Atkins. Which one do you think has been the easier one to do? I am always up for new ideas on recipes too.

I live near Fargo/Moorhead. So in the winter its too cold to walk and now the mosquitos will carry you away. Can't win..lol

I have been able to get the scale to move a bit, but I am going up and down 4 pounds since April. I have been thinking about going back on induction. However on the 19th I am going on a trip and worried about how I will do on that. I know i am definately going to have to go on induction after that.

Its very nice to hear there are other people in the same situation.

What kind of exercise do you try to get in?

Teresa, you get enough exercise I would say with 5 kids..lol I commend you for doing induction for so long. I have a weakness and have some almonds and sometimes a diet pop.

The support and encouragement are great and real motivation.

Your weight loss has been very good, you should be proud of your accomplishment so far.

Do you have any recipes that you like? Also, do you have any hints regarding on your success?
