Anyone in Michigan

Hello to all. I am new here and wondering if anyone in MI would like to pen pal. I started this WOE June 1, 2004 and am very pleased thus far.

I lost over 80 lbs two years ago eating low fat, low calorie, HOWEVER gained 30 lbs back over this past winter. Guess you can't hibernate and eat pop tarts and expect to keep the weight off!

So hello to all and thanks for all the wonderful information I have found here!

Hi! I am from Michigan as well. I joined Curves at the end of March and started a low carb/low calorie diet. After 6 weeks of going to Curves and watching my carbs & calories, I lost 12 pounds and 17.5 inches. Next Wednesday is my next weigh-in & measurement day at Curves. I would love to be able to chat with you. Maybe we can keep each other motivated. :-) Take care.

Hi Wannashrink~

I just found this website while on vacation a week ago. It was in a magazine, so thought I would check it out. So far I love it. All the great recipes, chat, and message boards. I think I have every tool that I need, right here, to lose the weight.

I'm 37, been married for 12 years now, and we have a 4 year old daughter. I'm kind of in the "thumb region" of Michigan. Back in March I joined Curves with great success. I was actually very surprised at my results after 6 weeks. I had lost 12 pounds and 17.5 inches. I didn't believe my Curves instructor until I actually saw it on paper for myself. So, I continue with Curves 3 days a week, and I'm sort of following the guidelines in the Curves book for the diet. I allow myself 60 grams of carbs & 1200 calories per day. It seems to be working for me. Are you following any particular diet, or are you just watching what you eat? Any exercise at all? I look forward to hearing from you again. I probably won't post anymore today as I have my cousins' wedding to go to this afternoon and I have to go to the grocery store before that. Hope you have a great day.

Stay Strong,
~ Lynette ~

WOE: Low Carb
Hi lynette:
I go to slim and tone (like curves) 5 times a week. I am doing the atkins diet. Just recently restarted it. And being strickter, seeing better progress also. I am in Rose City. Northeastern michigan.
I am 27 with 4 children. Right now I am a stay at home mom.
I am trying to lose about 150 lbs. I restarted on the 3rd of July and lost 12 pounds so far. Hope it will keep going that good.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Stacy

Hi Stacy~

It was good to hear from you. It sounds like you are on the right path to a new you. You are doing very well. With the combination of exercise and your healthy way of eating, you will succeed in your weight loss. Myself, I have about 80 pounds to lose. I'm working to get under the 200 mark by the end of summer. I know I can do it. If I can lose 12 pounds in 6 weeks with going to Curves and watching my diet, I'll be there in no time. I like to give myself small goals instead of bigger ones. That way I can achieve my goal and not be disappointed if I don't.

I know where Rose City is. A girl that I used to babysit for a long time ago, moved up there. I'm about 45 miles N.E. of Flint, in a tiny, tiny town called Fostoria. I'm also a stay-at-home Mom. I love every minute of it. I was working for about one year before they laid me off. It was then that we decided that I wasn't going to go back to work. So I haven't worked for about 2 years now. We always said that once we had a baby, I was going to stay at home. Well easier to say than do. That first year or so I had to work. But then we were realizing that half my pay was going for child care and it really wasn't worth it for me to work. So I was actually happy when they laid me off. I might get a part time job when she gets into 1st grade.

Thank you for your yahoo ID. I will most definitely add you to my friends list. My yahoo ID is LynetteMi if you would like to add me. Take care, and I hope to talk to you soon.

Stay Strong,
~ Lynette ~

Hi Ladies

I'm glad to see some others in Michigan! I was beginning to think I was here all alone! Sorry I didn't see the replies sooner, I have been on vacation. Wanna, my parents live in West Branch so I am in your area quite often!

I haven't tried Curves, I belong to the Y with my son and I also have a lifetime membership to Fitness USA...I hope to use it some time in my "lifetime"! Ha.

Hi there ~

Sorry I haven't been here lately. Just getting caught up on the housework and yardwork when my husband gets home. Not to mention my workouts at Curves.

I had an amazing eye opener yesterday. I'm still in disbelief. I have worn a size 2X sweatshirt for at least a few years now. Well, yesterday it was a bit cool here in the morning so I thought I would put a sweatshirt on. My mother-in-law was always good at buying someone clothes that were way too small. She would never buy you the size that you tell her. Her thinking is "Well, it looks like it'll fit." Regardless of the size. Well, yesterday I found a sweatshirt that I have never worn that she bought for me because it was too small. When I put it on yesterday just to see, IT FIT! And it's only an XL! I was so happy. I was looking in every mirror that I could possibly find in my house. I just couldn't believe it. And it fit comfortably too. If that isn't motivation to keep doing what I'm doing, I don't know what is. I am seeing such wonderful re****s, it just makes me want to keep plugging away at it.

Stay Strong,
~ Lynette ~
