Good Morning!!
I have just moved to NC. I'm in the Salisbury area. I have been doing low carb for about 9 years now. I have kept all of my weight off for that time. I hace been following the Carbohydrate Addict's diet. Or as I would say it is my way of life now. I think burgers without the buns are better!! But I really would like to meet new friends, and have some support. Yes I still have days when I want a big cookie or some bread!! Have a good day |

Hi. Welcome to NC. How much weight did you lose before beginning maintance? I first goal is another 60 lbs. My physician says he can take me off my diabetic meds with another 60 lbs! so, of course, that is my main goal. After that I still want to lose another 40-60 lbs. As you can see I have a huge fight on my hands....but I am worth it!
Congrats on keeping the weight off....that's the hardest of all. My husband lost 70 lbs and now "plays" with about 5 lbs. He has kept his weight down now for about 6 months. He loves food more than anyone I know! I would really like to see a good grouping of people from NC....maybe even have social gatherings once every couple months with a different "area" hosting each time. If you talk to other NC guys/gals let them know about this thread. Thanks. |

Thanks for the welcome!
I have lost a total of 75 punds and kept them off!!!! In the back of my mind I would like to lose a few more. But I have to remember that I have done very well, and to be happy!!! Being 6 feet tall I guess I will never be all that small. Keep up the great work!!! I know it is hard. But you are right you are worth it!!!! Just remember you are doing it for yourself no one else. I'm going to go and take my 2 hour walk today. I try and walk everyday. Sometimes it is hard here in NC it get a bit warm. But I keep walking. Good luck to you!!! hope we can talk some more!!!!!! |

Hope you enjoy that walk.....get it in the early am or late evening......not as hot. Where did you come from? I am a native of NC....and with the exception of about a 3 year move to Atlanta GA I have lived in NC. Currently back in Wilmington which is my birthplace. Wonderful city.....near the ocean and that's very nice.
I have lost 60 lbs so far. I just want (as most people) to just wake up tommorrow and have lost all the weight I need to. I have to remind myself daily that I can't go on past "success" , that each new day is a new battle with the slate at a big fat ZERO! We will talk soon. Donna |

Hi
Ok that was warm walk! I moved to NC from Wisconsin. So it is not so warm walking there. But the winter walks are cold. I know the feeling!! Each day I have to fight not eat the coffee cake for breakfast or some chips for lunch. But at the end of the day I'm glad that I didn't. Well I'm going to go and find some meat, cheese and vegatables for lunch. I better get some work done arond the house too. Have a good day!! Talk to you soon!! Kim ![]() |

Exercise is my next hurdle. I have a busy lifestyle and find it hard to find time to exercise. I did take a walk after dinner last night....with my Rat Terrior in tow....pulling me the whole way.
I am at work so I respond to your postings right away....pls don't feel that you have to post as soon read mine. I will not post on weekends as I have termed my internet account from home. I just had lunch.....salad with lettuce, cheese and assorted meats from the local deli. Breakfast for me today was a half of a cheese sandwhich on low carb bread (Pepridge Farm 7 grain is great...and only 5 net carbs per slice) and a small apple. Oh yeah ... and water. Lots of water. Just a little about myself... 44 yr old lady with 2 sons....20 and 16. Married to their dad for 20 years. Divorced about 7 yrs ago. Remarried 4 years ago. Jerry is 7 yrs younger than me.....but I still walk circles around him....I think it's a gender thing. Talk to you soon, Donna |

Morning,
Hope you are having a good day so far!! I'm still trying to wake up and get my day started. You and I have allot in common. I'm also 44 young lady. I have one son who is 22 and working on his last of collage. Study to be a music teacher. I have been devoiced for a really long time. But I'm in a long term relationship with a really great guy now. That is one of the reason I'm in NC now. He got a great job down here. So here we are. We even moved the pet hamster. He was my biggest supporter when I started eating low carb. He even gets the knife and fork and mayo when we go out for burgers. He is always telling people on how great I did and how I did it. He is so use to my way of eating now that he knows to make sure there is always diet soda in the house. Cause I can get really crabby without it. How is you day going??? I hope are you having a good day!! Talk to you soon! Kim |

Good morning Kim,
Good day so far. I am having a tomatoe sandwich with low carb bread and water for breakfast. I didn't so good last night....I find if I get really tired I crave more bad things. I had nachos with salsa...the salsa was fine...the nachos weren't. Someone suggested I take low carb wraps, cut them and fry them to use as nachos. Still not a great snack but better than the real ones. Do you work outside the home? I work for a Hospice group here in Wilmington. My husband works in route sales. No hampsters here....but one dog and one cat. |

Hi
I had my hard-boiled egg this morning. I know the feeling well. I always want to eat what I can’t have. The good part of my way of eating is that I have an hour a day that I can eat what ever I want. I don’t get the carbs during the rest of the day. So you can say that the cake and ice cream are just 24 hours away. How long have you been eating low carb??? But I do know it is hard. Some days the cookies call my name. I use to work in Wisconsin. I have not found a job down here yet. But then again I have not looked all that hard yet. I do look in the paper everyday. I did have one interview, but no luck yet. I do know I’m going to have to get something soon. Cause I’m getting kind of bored being at home all day. But I have the cleanest closet in my life!!!!! If you are wondering why I have a hamster for a pet. It all started when my son was young. We pet sat for 2 and fell in love with them. They are small and don’t take all the much care. So when he went to collage I was put in charge of the hamster. Well that was 2 hamsters ago. But he keeps me company during the day. Now you know why I have a small fuzzy animal in a cage as a pet. He also likes to share my cheese an vegetables with me. Have a great day!! Kim |

I have been low carb off and on for 2 years since I was diagnosed diabetic. I have been back trying to do it on a regular basis now for about 3 months. I really need to get much stronger and dedicated to the Atkins way of life.
Hampsters make good pets....with the boys I think we've done them all.....hamspters, gerbils, rabbits, fish, kittens and puppies. I did say NO to the ferret. Have a good day..... Donna |

Good Afternoon!
Have you tired any of the low carb plains? I have been doing the The Carbohydrate Addict's way of life for the last 9 years. The best part of it is that you have the hour a day to eat what ever you want. I can send the web page if want. My boy friend and laugh about all of the news about low carb. Because I have been doing it for so long now. But you have to do what ever works for you. Let me know if I can help you in any way. Hope you are having a good day!! Kim |

Hi Kim,

Hi
Yes you can lose on it too!!! Then you change a few things and you can maintain!!!! They don’t have a great web page, but the books are great!!! I have 4 of them. I love the hour a day!! That’s when I get to eat the cake I baked today. Here is the web address. http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/ Take a look and see what you think. If you any questions let me know. I would be glad to help!! Take care Kim |

Thanks Kim. I will check it out. Do you mind telling me what your start date/weight was as opposed to your current weight.
My highest weight ever was 330. I am now at 270. I have two goals....the next one will be met when I reach 210 and then the next one will be met when I reach 150. Seeing that I was conceived at about 125 lbs I think 150 is a good weight for me. Who knows, if I ever get there maybe I will not be satisifed with 150. We'll see. |

Hi everyone, I am also in NC and Kimbear I am also in Salisbury, small world isnt it. I am 36 have a son 4yrs and daughter 12yrs who is into music big time and singing.. she wants to go to college and study music and be a singer. Big Dreams....
Anyway just wanted to stop by when I saw the NC thread and say hi to everyone. I have been on Atkins since May and was doing low fat, low carb before that for about 2 years. Just needed to lose weight gained from last baby and just getting lazy and no exercise. I was a junk food junkie and a big time sweets addic......really bad with the swiss cake rolls and ice cream and doughnuts....so on... I love Atkins for lots of reasons but mainly getting rid of my cravings for this stuff, I still have the once in a while urge for something if its right under my nose but if its not in my sight I really dont have any desire for those things any longer. I feel so much better and have so much for energy!! Now I just need to exercise more... thats my issue...I get lazy and dont want to workout...I will put if off till its to late to do it... so I am working on my tonning now... I have 10 more to lose to get to my goal but I have a long way to go as far as my body shape...its really out of whack.... lots of flab and really needs tonning. Just wanted to say hi and Kimbear didnt you say you just moved?? Do you like it here in Salisbury? Kind of a small town isnt it...but we are close to Charlotte and Winston Salem so we arent out in the boonies to bad....lol. donnarose, Atkins is great and I really feel so much better on this WOE that I plan to make it a WOL and I dont want to go back to my sugar and carb life where I was always craving things and felt tired.... I think that Wilmington is so nice...my cousin lives there right on the beach...he owns a carpet store there and we go down to visit but not often enough....I love the beach.... It does get hot here...and I mostly walk inside on my treadmill because I dont do well walking in the 95 degree weather....lol....now I am wondering if its going to stop raining ever... Misssilverbullet, I know what you mean about hard to get back on track after cheating for so long.. on my lowfat diet I was always cheating... sweets and junk.... I would do ok during the week when I was at work but then on the weekends... I would go nuts and eat so much junk.... I just went up and down the same few pounds till it finally started catching up with me...age I guess....we cant eat like teens forever..... I gained and got pretty plump around the middle and my legs and hips...well we wont even talk about them so I decided I had to do something.... and heard that Atkins helped so much with breaking the cravings and gave you so much energy that I wanted to see and am so glad I did...... I still have my weak moments but overall am doing pretty good... lots of help and support here on this board.... !! Hope everyone has a nice day and its nice to meet everyone.

Hi ladies,
Well we all know the only way to do this ... is to DO this. You have to make up your mind.....get mad enough at yourself for those silly give ins to urges. How long is that pleasure gonna last.....10 minutes? Then what? Nothing...but the carbs and pounds. Focus on something other than food when you get down, tired, lazy, tempted. If you have to remove yourself for the place where the temptation is. And for heaven's sake make your home a "safe haven" - in other words, clean out the fridge and the cabinets. Give away all the "bad" foods and replace it with "good stuff". Anyone ever think of prayer...I mean honest, sincere giving it to God. He can do anything. He can help you become who you want to be. Give your diet, your urges, temptations to God....let Him deal with them. You go on about your day and let Him do all the hard work. He is there for you and wants to help.... okay, okay, no more preaching. I am up for a low carbs friends gathering. I think it would be great to do one about every other month. Maybe have it at different places. We could all take a turn being the hostess. That would be fun. Anyway....gotta get my Monday started. Keep the faith ladies and I am glad to see this group growing a little. Donna |

Morning,
It is so nice to see all of the new friends here this morning. I backed cookies over the weekend for my parents that came to visit. My Dad loves cookies. So I’m here this morning and the cookies are here too. They would only take a few, so I’m trying not to eat them for breakfast. They sound so much better then my egg. But I’ll go and get my egg and tea. I hope you all had a great weekend!!!!!! Donna, I told you I would tell you about my weight lose. I started in my May of 1995. I was planning a trip to Florida to see my parents. I went to store to get a new bathing suit. Well that was a wake up call. I came home and thought about it, So I said ok I need to do something about this. I had a friend who was doing something, but she wasn’t really talking about it. But I said ok tell me. She did and I went and bought the book and started the next day!!! Here is the name of the book THE CARBOHYDRATE ADDICT'S DIET: A Lifelong Solution To Yo-Yo Dieting. I set a goal for the trip. I made the goal. I have stayed with it. The best part was I had to go and buy some new short on the vacation!!!!! Cause the one I bought for the trip were to big!!!!!!!! I have stayed with it since then. I will not change my eating!!!! I started at 210 pounds in 1995 now in 2004 I’m 150. I have been eating a burger without a bun forever!!!!! Good news I went and got my egg, while I was typing this. I guess telling the story helped!! Yes I just moved to Salisbury, NC. I have to say I really like the weather here!!! Coming from Wisconsin, this is great!! I’m getting use to living in a small town. But so far it is great!!! Everyone is so nice!!!! The hard part is you have to drive to get any were. Like the mall or bookstore. Everyone have a great day!!!! Talk to you all soon!!!! Kim |

Oh now you know those cookies don't taste all that good!
I am going to the movies tonight to see The Notebook with some friends. Gonna have to fight that popcorn smell.....I will have to take my own advice about those cookies! I joined Ladys of American Fitness Center today. I go tommorrow for orientation. It's only a three month membership so we will see if I continue it after the 3 months. I even get to tan for free....pretty cool, huh? I am going to check into the Carb Addicts Diet book. Sounds like you have done a good job with weight loss on it! So anyone else interested in having "meet" times a couple times a year or even every other month? NC isn't all that big. I think so far the ladies who post here are all about within a 3.5 hour driving range. All have a good night. Talk to you soon. |

Hi all,
Can i join in? I'm from NC too, just north of the Raleigh area. I have been low carbing for well over a year now (consistiently that is) , as before that I was floundering around for several months losing a few pounds here and there, going up and down the scale.... So in all i'm heading close to the two year mark coming up in November. I am wishing you all the best and looking forward to knowing everyone.. |

Welcome Anna,
Sounds like you have it together. I am at 60 lbs right now and can totally relate to the back and forth. I have been playing back and forth with about 5 lbs. Almost have them re-lost. What a stupid thing to do. I joined a gym yesterday. Today is my first time and the trainer will set me up and then I will going. I joined Ladies of America. Maybe later I will go to a coed gym but for now I think just ladies is good. I went to the movies last night to see The Notebook. Friends on both sides munching on popcorn (did it ever smell good) and eating choc covered raisins (yuck). I had already consumed my 120 ozs of water, had my steak and green beans for dinner...so I was not tempted. Yeah for me....I love popcorn at the movies. Kimbear............how ya doin girl? How was your weekend.....got rid of those cookies yet? Okay, better get my day started. Hope everyone has a great day! |

Good Morning All!!!
Sounds like you are all doing a great job!!!!!!!!! I have been thinking about doing joining something. But then again I’m not to good at that. So I’m going to stay with my walking. I know I can do that and stay with it. How was the movie? I always go to the movie after I have eaten a meal. Yes I still have my cookies. I did have 2 with dinner last night during my hour. At that rate they are going be around for a while. I guess they will go in the trash before I eat them. Can’t have my Boy friend hide them for me. I have him hide candy for me. Then when I need a piece I have him go and get me one. We are going to go up to Wisconsin for the long weekend. Then we are going over to Michigan for his work. So we are going be in the car and hotels for a about a week. Ok that will be to many burgers without the bun from Burger King. The hard part is being in the car that long with nothing to do. I drink way to much diet soda. But I’m going to stop and have my favorite pizza when we are WI. I guess I better go and do something today. I’m moving to fast this morning. I guess I better go and look for a job a bit harder. Hope you all have a great day!!!!! Talk to you soon! Kim |
