WHOA!

First off that is the WRONG attitude to have! You need to make up your mind to succeed in spite of those at home. Are you truely happy with yourself? Maybe we can do this thing together.

I'm starting induction tomorrow. I'm on this board alot, so you should have no problems contacting me about problems and such. I'm good with support. Have you joined any challenges? I'm in Brighter Days '04....... Or you can join my own Where's My Soda? challenge '04...

no I am not happy with my self. I never really have been. about 6 yeards ago I tryed Atkins and lost over a 100 pounds, but then I met my husband and over the years have put it back on plus a lot. I don't think I will ever be happy with my self till I lose it and keep it off. I think if my husband would diet with me I would do better. I have told him this and I have also told him that I need some one to be hard on me and someone to tell me I am doing good, but he just does not seem to care much.

Sounds about right. My dbf is the same way. I'm in a thread called Tough Love, it's on the century boards. You are welcome to come there. We are a bunch that are committed to this woe and we are tough when someone strays. REALLY tough. It's all things that are needed to be heard though. Speaking from someone that has been on the receiving end of that!

As for support, you get that there too. And from me.

my mom always says she is going to start on this diet with me and said she would come get me everyday to go to the park and walk but everyday she comes up with a reason why she can't, so I started to take my kids for a walk around the block everyday that it is nice out. that is how I lost it before by going for a walk everyday. so I am hoping it will help again. the eatting part is hard I do ok most of the time but I love ice cream and want it all the time.

been there done that

That is why it is so key to stay on induction for at least 2 weeks. I plan to be on it longer, because I have a lot to lose. You need to kick the cravings. That is the key to success on this woe. Otherwise you will eat the ice cream (and WHO??? can only eat that 1/2 cup serving?????), and overeat it as well.... doubling even quadrupling those carb counts.....

I know, I was able to give it up before, but it seem like life got a lot harded after I got married. before I had my little sister help me and I lost over a 100pounds. I have asked her to help me this time but she said it would be to hard now that we do not live in the same house and she has a full time job. I can do good all day I don't really eat much of anything but it seem like as soon as my husband comes home food is all I can think about.

You need to seperate food from relationships. I had a hard time with that in the beginning. Now my dbf can come home and make a PIZZA (MY weakness), I'm not even tempted to eat it. I'm content to just smell these things. Although I swear just smelling them stalls me... Are there carbs in scents?

I don't think that is what it is. our relationship was not been to good for a while now it seems I can never do anything right so when he get home I am worryed about what I did or didn't do to make him happy that day so I trun to food to help deal with it. I know I should not let him get to me likes this but when you have kids it is hard. I have been getting out side more to play with the kids and go for short walks.

hmmm

I'm in no position to give relationship advice. Only you can determine if it is worth it to stay in a situation that gets you so upset that you eat things you know you shouldn't.

My dbf is much the same as yours, BUT he does show me he cares. Like Saturday morning I woke up to a flower on my nightstand. He buys the things I need for this woe. Even though he does try to tempt me to the other side.

Like offering bites of cheesecake I don't need.

I've been guilty of that too, only now I run and eat the things I CAN eat. I'll munch on celery slathered with peanut butter, or deviled eggs, cheese and summer sausage. It is all a mindset and getting yourself into a different frame of mind. Look at how much I've lost! You can too, you just have to try something different, cause what you are doing obviously isn't working for you. Right?

My niece is due about the same time! She'll have it in 5 months. Hard to believe how they grow up.

The thing about this woe is that you have to really get into it. Don't let anyone discourage you or bully you or tempt you away. You do have to be strong... My suggestion is this...

If you HAVE to have ice cream, make it low carb. There is nothing wrong with that. You might pay a bit more (And Breyers has a great line of lc ice cream that costs the same as their regular stuff), but it is worth it to cut the carbs by more than half. It is not a good compromise and I don't condone eating ice cream on this woe, especially induction, but if you are having trouble....

On solution for you might be one of the more lenient diets. Like South Beach, Sugarbusters or some other one. There are some out there that you eat LC all week and then on the weekend you can have something that you want to have.

I prefer Atkins though, because I have a problem with control and need to reassert myself. That and I read the book and admit that everything makes sense and that this is what I should be doing!

Heck with everything else. Right now I come first. I'm putting myself first so that I can be there for my son and so that when it counts, I'm fit enough to be REALLY there...

I am going to try Jello and to stop with the ice cream. it worked for me last time. I think I really just need to want it more to make it happen. before I wanted to lose it so I would feel better about my self and to help me with other things. now I have what I wanted a husband and kids. now I am going to do it for my kids I want to be here to see them have long happy lives. the past few days when I have wanted to eat I think of my kids and played with them. getting out of the house helps to.

sometimes

its not enough to want it for someone else. You have to want it for you first and foremost. My son loves me regardless, but he enjoys it when I get down and pay with him. And I can do that more and more to his delight. However, I feel bad being this heavy. It hurts physically, mentally and emotionally. I want a better life, and that is why I do this.

I want to fly a plane, little personal ones, not jets or anything.

I want to be able to RUN.

I want to participate in the March of Dimes.

I want to walk down the street and get admiring glances, not repulsed ones.

I want to see my FEET!

THAT is why I do this.

Hello everyone,

Im new and very excited , Cant wait to loose the weight I seperated from my husband 2 years ago and lost alot of weight I started working a job that required alot of walking. But I have sence put on some of the weight I lost back on, I'm still not as big as I was was but feel like I am, I have a bf now and he is very supportive. I go to curves but it's not enough se we have decided to join a coed Gym together and take the kids as well. So im very lucky to have the support of my bf ..but I joined this site because i want and need all the support i can get. Bf and husbands just really dont get the whole emotional thing that woman go through when they are unhappy about themselves.

I know I need to do it for my self that is why I said that may be I don't want it enough. it is hard to care when you feel no one esle does. my husband will not help me but yet he will say things to me like I could love you more if you were skinnyer. this is part of why I joined this site to find friends, help and support that I need but am not getting at home. I have lost a little I was at 375 pounds, last week at the doctor's it was 364 pounds not much but then it is a start. I need to really start getting hard on my self we are going on vacation in about 8 weeks and want to lose as much as I can before then. have you try any kind of carb blockers?

nope

I don't care for drugs or quick fixes. But if you want to, you can try them... You might have unpleasant side effects, if you know what I mean...

Just wanted to share with you a little of my story. I have been on Atkins since April 3, 2004. I have lost a solid 25 pounds
I have 80 to go to my goal, and 90 to what the books say I should weigh. I wouldn't be on my way without a promise that I made. Not to my husband, my kids, my bestfriend, but to me. I promised myself that I want to be here to enjoy the rest of my life, and be healthy. I have tried all the diets and fads, pills that don't work, quick fixes. Got NO WHERE. But, when I promised myself that I would do this, stick to it and give it all I've got, I realized something very important. I can NEVER EVER let me down. I have had a few stalls, in fact I am smack dab in the middle right now. I have been at the same weight for over a week. But I am not giving up. I am new to this site too, but I have had tons, and I do mean tons, of supportive comments and advice and pm's already. The extra support is amazing, and remembering that I am the most important person in my promise keeps me going.

Make a promise to yourself to do this, if it's what you want. You'll find a promise to yourself, and keeping it is the greatest feeling.

I don't like to take any thing either. I was just wondering if they work or not. my mom got some from the Atkins web site and said they worked for her.

we are planning to go see my husband's family for the weekend. it is hard to stay with a diet when you know you will be eating out most of the weekend, but more places have low carb foods now. I just need to remember to eat them and pass on the rest.

Eating out isn't as hard as you think. Just keep in mind the things that you know are No-No's. Avoid bread and pasta. Skip the dessert, and don't forget to drink your water.

I work out of town two days away, so I always eat out with my co-workers. We had Mexican today, so instead of the whole burrito, I had a Machaca burrito and ate everything but the tortilla. Machaca, in case your not sure, is shredded pork with tomatoes and onions, occassionally it will have eggs, which is awesome. It helped me stick to my diet without too much guilt, and I was able to have a nice lunch with my friends. You can do this! This weekend will be a breeze.

I started my diet the week before Easter. Let me tell you that was tough not to get to eat the Chocolate bunny

I know it should not be to hard but I give in easy. I do better if I am dieting with someone. for some reason I feel funny going out to eat and getting some thing low card or when my husband feels he has to tell everyone I am on a diet. it makes me feel like every one is watching me. other then the eating part of it we should have a nice weekend. we have not seem my husband's family in over a year now. they can't wait to see our baby.

Hi, just a suggestion to get your through the "..she's on a diet..." conversation. Smile and hold your head up high and tell them "I want to be healthy, and here for a long time with my baby, so I am helping myself". I used that on my mom who is overly critically about low carb eating, and me in general. It felt good to afrim to myself that I am doing this for me.

You can do this trip and you can stick to a low carb style all weekend. I know you can. You want it badly enough! You can do this!!!

gcin

your right, it is great to have support.

Speaking of which, sorry I haven't been around as much this last week. I've been in a rut and not feeling well. TOM went over 2 weeks this month and I've been real tired. I haven't done much posting outside of tough love and cheat free threads.

I hope that you are getting along okay. Keep this up!

I am doing good. our trip over the weekend went fine. we had a great time. I did have 1 pice of my niece's b-day cake. it was to hard to say no when she liked like she was going to cry, because I did not want any.
