Hey Raeven!!
Funny how that exercise junky and slow loser go together... it doesn't sound like they should!! That fits me exactly though, I exercise pretty much everyday - lately either advanced tae bo or 3.5 miles with leslie sansone and do situps and some light weightlifting every other day. Unfortunately, the scale has not moved in a month! I have been stuck here right on the brink of onederland! AT least though I measured today and I've lost .5" on each arm and .5" off each calf the past month so at least something has gone done! May the woosh fairy be with you! looking forward to hearing from you too! |

slow loser
I've been on atkins for about 6 weeks and have lost ten pounds. Here lately it seems that the scales wil not budge. I am trying not to get disouraged, but I guess it will just take a little time.I exercise at least 30 minutes daily and I'm trying to drink the water. My clothes are a bit looser, so I guess something is working.

slow loser too!
Hi, I'm a slow loser too. Been on strict induction for 7 weeks and have lost 7 lbs. Exercise at gym on circuit training machines every other day and walk on alternate days. Metabolism is pretty screwed up, I guess. Taking lotsa meds, many of which slow me down. I have no intention of doing anything different, however, than following induction for a long time. As the old saying goes, "I will.........until........." Am diabetic also, so added concerns.

slow loser
I have been on atkins since Feb 9 and have only lost 8lbs and I have been getting discouraged. I have to admit I didn't follow the induction as strictly as they say, but I have not been cheating with my carbs. No breads, pasta or sweets of any kinds, and that is a big deal for me. We pretty much lived on pasta. So I am hoping that I see some changes pretty soon. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Penny67,
Wow, 8 lbs. since Feb. 9th is wonderful! Congrats! You stated that you don't think this is great amount, but figure it out: that's about 2 lbs/wk, so in another 6 mos you'll be near goal. Just think, by the time the leaves start falling, your clothes will be falling off you!! It's doable. You say you haven't been following Induction as strict as it states. My suggestion would be to start a journal and write down every single thing you eat every day with the appropriate carb count listed so you know if you're staying below the assigned 20 net carbs daily. My daughter, who's been doing Atkins WOE since last fall, bought me an Atkins journal and carb counter book for Christmas and it helps so much. Lots of other foods have carbs in them besides pasta, bread, etc., so you might be missing some of those hidden other carbs without realizing it even if you're just eating healthier foods. You can do this! Just keep at it. Let me know if it gets better as you continue this way of eating. Vicki

Well....I am new to this thread and to the bulletin board in general. I have been doing Atkins since Jan 5 and am down 10lbs. I can't seem to get the scale to budge and the inches are very slow to come off. I have an exercise bike that I ride a minimum of 12 miles a day 5-6 days a week so I know that some fat is converting to muscle. I am looking for a bit of support as this seems to be kickin my @$$. I feel like I am doing everything right....20-25 carbs a day, 100-120 oz of water exercise vitamins, fish oils...the works and I still am only down 10 lbs in 2 months with no sign of any more leaving any time soon
. I hope that someone can give me some insight as to why I am stuck here. Thanks!! |

I've lost another 3 lbs. But I can't seem to stay in ketosis. Do you? I exercise because I love it but it's getting me down when the scale drops slower for me than for my friends who don't work out or stay on the diet! I know my insulin problem contributes but after 2 months I'm having trouble staying motivated. Anything that works for you? Thanks! |

It is like you are all inside my head! I have been doing induction since Jan 11, 04. I have been stalled after losing about 12 lbs. I have been getting very discouraged at times but I am taking it day by day. I have been exercising faithfully this month ( well I have missed 5 days of exercise in March so far) and I am feeling better.
I came to a realization around the beginning of March just like Richard had mentioned. I realized... hey I lost 12 pounds.... what would the scale of looked like if I wasn't this determined?? No one would ever know because I would of never got on that scale. I might of gained that much weight, maybe more, but I am losing it! That is a wonderful thing! I feel like I am doing it slow, but this is the best way to do it. I don't know if I am in Ketosis, (I haven't figured that part out). I do know that I am losing a lot of my belly. I feel the muscles in my legs showing more definition. I sleep better at night and have more energy when I wake up in the morning. I would much rather have all of that going on than merely watching a number on the scale. ![]() Whew!!! Where did all of that come from? Hi ![]() |

slow weight loser
Hi again,
I had a fasting blood draw last week and when I went in to meet with the dr about the results, I told him I wanted him to eliminate or reduce several medications that were making me gain weight or at least making losing weight more difficult. He cut one med in half for fibromyalgia and eliminated Prempro since I had been weaning myself off for several months. I asked him why I was given oral med Glucotrol (which causes weight gain) for diabetes instead of Glucophage (metformin, which helps with weight loss). He said no particular reason, so since I was also taking Avandia, he substituted a new med Avandamet which combines the two. I started on it last weekend, and by Tuesday of this week I had lost an additional 2 lbs. and by this weekend another 2 lbs. WOW! What a difference that change made! I would have never thought to ask about the metformin if I hadn't read it here on the bb. Dr. told me my thyroid was "normal" but agreed to perform the T3 and T4 tests next visit in 2 mos since I told him I had all the symptoms of low thyroid (again as learned on the lc bb). You guys rock!) Thanks, Vicki |
