Hi Ladies...I just had to start a new thread, hope you don't mind. Well, 4 days off work and I am still not even close to being done with all I had planned on getting accomplished . I did however get some things done and most important of all I got my exercise room done . I haven't exercised in it yet...but it's there waiting for me today! I just hate exercising . Well, I am starting today to try and get back into ketosis. I bought $100.00 worth of meats not to mention the regular groceries, eggs, butter, salad stuff etc...I sold my old car and used the money from it to buy myself a new gas grill, I tried it out last night and it was wonderful, tonight will be burgers on the grill. I was wondering...do you have to get into ketosis before you start to lose weight if you just keep your carbs low? I guess what I am trying to ask is, can I still lose weight if I use my lowcarb bread (4 gms a slice) and keep my carbs at no more than 25?
I just don't know if I can do another 2 weeks without the few things that make it better for the veggie hater that I am (know what I mean Rita?) I just don't know what to do.

Rita - How's it going girl? I suppose you are doing a lot better than I have been. I know what you mean about the weather changing all of the time, I had the air on Saturday and the heat on Sunday. I wish you luck on the shower curtain. You will have to ask for a digital camera for your b-day so you can take photo's to send us.

Diane - WOW woman, nice necklace! I always heard that good deeds are rewarded. I sure have missed you guy's. I suppose you are still freezing. I think you and your honey should come to Florida for a while . It sounds like you are doing really good lowcarbing and to have a stranger flurting with you....you go girl!!! A fat granny you are NOT! I bet your hubby was keeping a watchful eye on you from a far. I think it is fantastic...didn't it make you just glow?! I am so proud of you and your accomplishments!! ((((((((Big Hug)))))))

Arlene - It sounds like you too have everything under control.. A big atta girl on the candy bar resistance!! I can't say I would be that strong. I hope your toe gets better soon. It's funny how we don't realize how much we use something until we can't...know what I mean?! How's school going and the new car? Keep up the good work 2 pounds a week is fantastic!!!! Wish I was losing that, wish I was losing...lol

Well, ladies, I have to get back to work. I sure do wish you all a lovely day. You are in my thoughts!

yay!! Welcome Home KK!! So glad to see you posting again! I know what you mean about the exercising, we have our room all set up and avoid it like the plague!! I feel so good when I do it, but I put it off all the time. I am still up my 20 lbs that I have been since December...I just can't seem to make the scale budge. As of tonight we won't eat anything after dinner...I think our little snacks might be adding up and keeping us from losing. I would think if you kept your carbs down you'd get in to ketosis (maybe not as fast), but the important thing is to do whatever it takes to keep you on track, right?? I don't count carbs, I count WW points to keep my portions smaller and to increase my veggie intake (I know my little veggie haters, but it works for me ) Arlene must be out walking today now that she got some shoes on!! Rita's probably sewing her little heart out....great idea on the digital for her birthday!! KK, are you feeling better these days? I worry about you when we don't hear from you. Sure wish this was a Florida year so I could come down and cheer ya up!! I had so much fun showing off my necklace this morning at work...I can't wait to get it appraised!! Well I have to balance the checkbook while I have a minute!! HUGS to all...

I'm Here!

I've been fighting to download a new program on my pc this morning!

I have decided after a 3 day weekend of over-eating to plan my menu's out the day before. I have no idea how many carbs I ate over the past 3 days, but the scale is back up those 2 lbs I lost last week (ok, TOM is due Wed, but 2 lbs?!)

The necklace is beauuuutiful Diane! As KK said, good deeds have their rewards!

I went to my daughter's house yesterday to take her a b-day cake I baked for her and her present and mom and dad and DH came with me. I was good...did not eat one bite of cake, even though it tortured me for hours with the scent of fresh cake in the house. I haven't eaten any no no carbs, but I seem to be sliding down a slippery slope of eating more than I should and not keeping watch of how many carbs I am "inhaling"!

So today's menu is:

Breakfast 1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup strawberries
6 oz hamburger patty
water

Lunch 6 oz steak
1 cup home made slaw
water

Dinner 6 oz grilled pork shoulder
3 cups romaine lettuce
3 Tbl ceasar dressing
1 T lemon juice
1 diet rite

From my calculations that is 25.2 carbs which is alot closer to what I should be having vs what I have been having. I am drinking a bottle of water now and will try to drink another bottle in between lunch and dinner and another after dinner, before bed. That will be 98 oz of water plus one diet drink. Hopefully if I stay on track I can undo what I did.

Welcome back KK!! I never accomplish all the things I plan to do over a weekend. It seems as if there are never as many hours as I need.

I did go walking Saturday, but my foot hurt alot that night and kept me awake for hours from 4-6 am, so I am giving it a break again today. I am anxious to get back to working out!!

Hope all you girls have a wonderful day!
I'll check back in later if I ever get this program running properly.

Hugz,
Arlene

Good Morning Ladies....

Well, I did pretty good last night until I decided to have some ritz crackers they are a lot like Lay's potato chips you can't eat just one or two or three etc... but, I am doing good today. I had scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon for b-fast and for lunch I have a burger with lowcarb bread as the bun, and for dinner I think I will eat the rest of a piece of steak I had the other night. Do you ladies think as long as I keep the carbs pretty low and the calories too, that it would be ok to have tomato soup? I love tomato soup but the carbs are like 14 gms per serving and the whole can is like 35 gms. I'm not talking eat it everyday, but at least it would give me a little more veriety. What are your thoughts please? Ooops, I have to cut this real short, break is over. I will be back at lunch time....see you then (I hope).

I'm Back...

OK..I am back.

Diane - That was some story lady!! Kids are definately interesting...lol So, how's that necklace feel around your neck? I bet it looks as beautiful as your are! How's the weather? Is it getting any warmer for you yet? By the way, you had asked how I was doing a few posts ago and I don't think I ever answered you..I am doing good, not nearly as depressed as I was but I still have some major moments. My sweetie would help if he didn't give me a hard time about my weight. Men (most men) just don't understand that it is like a sickeness and it isn't easy to lose it or there wouldn't be a problem with obesity. They (men) are funny they insult you one minute and expect you to feel romantic or sexy the next...NOT! Anyhow, I hope he will just keep his unpleasant comments to himself.

Rita - So...how's the South Beach Diet different from the Atkins? I am curious...I have been told they are very similar but the S.B. Diet gives you more options..is that really true? How is your son doing these days? Is he doing better in school? I hope you are all doing well, I miss your e-mails but I know you are busy as I have been too. I still love you and miss you!!

Arlene - I hope things are going well for you still and that your toe is getting better every day. You just stick to your guns. I know you are going to be a great success story and I look forward to reading it!

I am sorry for all the questions I have been dumping on you guy's I am just trying to find something that will work for me. I am trying to do lowcarb and low calorie at the same time (difficult) I love soup as I mentioned earlier and it has more carbs than I would like but it is also liquid so does it really stick to you I swear, I feel a little lost. Diane - you mentioned that you count WW points...how do you do that in combination with the lowcarb and how do you know how many points you are allowed in a day? Well, I suppose I have use my questions up all in one post so I reckon I should stop for now. Sorry if this sounded all about me, I don't mean for it to. I wish you ladies a wonderful day!

HI all! Wow, how did I miss so many posts in just one day? LOL Seems like I'm wayyyyy behind! My TOM finally arrived today! It is a week overdue so I have been having ugly symptoms all that time..so Im happy it finally got here! LOL Now I can consentrate on eating good again!

KK-welcome back girlfriend!!!! I missed you!!! Glad your feeling good and back on track! I don't think a tomato soup would hurt once in awhile. I found chicken noodle soup isnt all that bad in carbs so I eat that once in awhile too. I need my low carb bread too! I think if you keep your carbs low, and don't eat any sugar that you will see a loss. But, you DO need to eat some veggies, even though I know you hate them! My son isn't doing much better in school. We are really having a tough time with him. He is failing math again and arguing with his teachers. I just pray things will turn around soon! Hey, tell your boyfriend to knock off the bad remarks! Tell him, he will have to answer to me! hehe No really, tell him to keep them to himself and to just worry about himself. NO ONE is perfect and he should love you for who you are..NOT what you weigh!!! My hubby met me when I was very overweight and NEVER once said anything to me about losing weight, and for that I love him more!!! Again, welcome back KK and I hope we see alot more posts!!!

Diane- I bet your still smiling over that necklace and the flirting! I know I would be! LOL It does seem harder to get off the weight that we regained over the holidays doesnt it? I'm having a tough time too, but...WE CAN DO IT!! Right? I just need to exercise more!!!!

Arlene- I think writing down everything you eat is a great plan. I'm going to do it again too, to keep me on track! Thanks for letting me know that you all started a new thread!

Have a great day all! Hugs, Rita

Good Morning.....

Hi Ladies...Well, so far so good I am actually behaving myself for the most part. I was reading soup can labels last night and was stunned to see that there were less carbs in chicken noodle than there were in the tomato...so, it looks like I will be able to have some soup on occassion which is all I want anyway . I am trying to keep the carbs down but I am not being real strict, I am basically keeping them in the no more than 40 range. I'll just have to see how that works cause somedays I never even get to 20.

Rita - Girlfriend let me just say "there is no way I am eating veggie matter when I can't stand it"... I will stick to my salads and that will have to do. I'm sorry your son is having so much trouble . It's tough being a kid these days. Hang in there everything will work out. As for my sweetie giving me grief about my weight, I try to just ignore him. He always comes out with so, "have you weighed yourself lately?" and believe me it isn't cause he notices a difference. It's funny (not really) but every guy I have ever had a relationship with has always had an issue with my weight. Men can be such jerks! I hope you are doing well.

Diane - Not sure if you got my e-mails yesterday or not, I sent one to your regular address and then one to your private address. Sorry for dumping on you. It sure was nice e-mailing you though. I think once you and your hubby stop the evening snacking you will lose those last few pounds. I try not to eat anything after 7:00 because it makes a big difference especially if your not moving around. Hang in there you'll get it off. By the way, where do you guys find the abbreviations for hubby (DH) etc.. I always see these things and half the time I have no idea what they mean until I keep reading and then figure it out. I'm just curious.

Arlene - Where are you girl? How's the toe doing, are you able to put your shoes on yet? I hope it is getting better for you. I look forward to reading your posts soon.

Well, I suppose I have rambled on long enough, I wish you all a great day! Hang in there and believe in yourselves.

HI ladies! I am in a much better mood since I FINALLY got over my "ugly" symptoms! LOL I got out for my daily walk, did my pilates and feel much better! I've been reading the South Beach Diet book and the more I read it the more it makes sense. I really do think I am going to switch from Atkins, to the SBD. They just have more food options. He focuses on "good" carbs and "good" fats. If your library has the book or anyone you know, I recommend that you read it! I think that because Atkins is so strict, that is why I have been cheating so much..if I had other options like whole wheat bread I know I would be able to stick to it better. Wish me luck!

KK- glad you are finding other foods that you like too and that are low in carbs. I had to laugh at your "veggie matter" remark! I agree, I really don't eat much more than lettuce and green beans, and that's only because I need the fiber!
Thanks for the words about my son. I hope things work out too. And yes, it IS hard being a kid these days!!!! The next time Jim says something about your weight, ignore him or have a good comeback line..put him in his place girlfriend! Take care!

Diane and Arlene- hope your day is going well ....post soon!

Hugs to you all, Rita

Yeehaw....it's Friday!

Hi Ladies,

So...where is everybody? I'm lonely in here...lol I am doing pretty good still cutting portions and staying fairly lowcarb. It's a test to see how my body will do, I figure all I can do is try. I am making it a huge effort to make sure I don't eat anything at least 2 to 3 hours before I go to bed. I am also making a conscious effort to eat real slow and savor every bite. At least if I do that I think I will feel full faster and not overeat.

Rita - Where are you? Did you get anything for your hubby or kids for Valentines Day? Are you doing well with the S.B. Diet? Please stay in thouch. I miss you, you never know. you just might get a phone call over the weekend.

Diane - Did I scare you away with my e-mails?...lol I know you are probably busy but I miss hearing from you. I hope you are staying warm. You too may receive a surprise call sometime ...

Arlene - Where are you? It's been awhile since I have seen you post...come home soon.

Well, I just want to wish you lovely ladies a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Valentines Day!!! Talk to you soon.

Hi Kids!! I just got home from a day of running the roads. Dh and I took the day off today (it's the day we started going steady in 1977...lol) I had my necklace appraised today $850.00 with the chain!! We took the gift certificates that I bought and instead of getting our rings sized I ended up buying a nice diamond watch....My honey bought me a ruby necklace and earrings this morning too...I am sparkling like a Christmas tree!! We have been on the road since 8:00 this morning. I had an eye appt (still can't get the contacts right), and he suggested we leave them out for a few weeks because my eyes are so dry an irratated this week that he feels we should get that under control before we try new lenses. We also went to a neighbors funeral and did a bit of shopping. We are supposed to go help someone get their computer running in a little while....I'll be ready to stop soon!! KK you silly girl, thinking you scared me off....good try, but I'm afraid your stuck with me sistah!! Sounds like you're doing pretty good. I am down to the lowest I've been in months, but don't expect it to stick...>I am still up 19 lbs, but it's better than 23! Well I don't have anymore time ....I have to grab a quick bite before we hit the dusty trails again...keep smiling!!
